Living Big In A Tiny House

Wooden interior of tiny home.

At Number one on our list of the best tiny house youtube channels, we have the main kid on the block: Living Big In A Tiny House. Living Big In A Tiny House is the biggest tiny home tour channel out there with a whopping 2.2million (and counting) subscribers, and there is a reason so many people are following along- these videos are great. Bryce’s videos are professionally filmed and edited with his girlfriend Rasa behind the camera. This makes the videos smooth and easy to watch, as though you are watching a television programme.

The videos are interesting and fun to watch with Bryce’s presenting skills allowing the tiny homeowners and builders to be comfortable on screen and open up as they show us around their space. The best thing about Living Big In A Tiny House is the amount of variation in the tiny homes. You’ll find videos about shipping containers houses, Earthships, tiny apartments, yurts, treehouses, vans, houseboats and even a house shaped like a shoe (not kidding). There is something for everyone at Living Big In A Tiny House.

They plan on living aboard while they return to their hometown to complete their tiny house build. What we love about Exploring Alternatives is that we get to know the people featured in each episode and the reason they chose their form of alternative living. The videos are often less about the structure that is being lived in and more about the people doing the living, making the content thought-provoking and fresh each week. But don’t worry, there are still plenty of classic tiny homes tours featured on Exploring Alternatives if that’s your thing!

100th Video Tour: Tiny House Celebration Dance!

100th Video Tour: Tiny House Celebration Dance!

I’ve been so excited for this special video because it’s an awesome collaboration with my friends in the Tiny House community. They all came together to help me celebrate my 100th video tour! You will probably see some familiar faces in this video. That’s because everyone featured has been (or will be soon) in featured video tour on my channel!

Watch the 100th Video Tour Dance Video :

I honestly can’t believe I’ve been making Tiny House videos for six years. This blog all started as something that was just for fun. I was using it to document my journey, and I really didn’t think anyone else would be interested in reading it. I then started traveling around the country with my Tiny House , and I used my film degree to share stories of people living alternatively. About a year into my journey, people started paying attention. The blog and YouTube channel grew… and my viewers and subscribers actually wanted more!

Even after some success, I never thought that this would become my full time job. I kept odd part-time jobs for the first three years of living tiny. Finally, the blog and YouTube channel grew big enough, and made enough money, that I could focus on it full time. Today, whenever anyone asks me what I do for a living, I get tongue tied. How do I explain it? I make videos? I share stories? I’m a “content creator” ….. I simply I have no words, but I do feel very lucky. In 2019, I actually had to hire a few part time editors and shooters to help me create enough content for my growing audience. This week we celebrate the 100th video tour on my YouTube channel. I have no idea how long this will last, but I’m so proud of the content we’ve created so far.

100th Video Tour

My journey thus far in the Tiny House movement has been a crazy ride, and I have loved every minute of it.

A few weeks ago I reached out to everyone that I’ve filmed (and that still lives tiny), and asked if they would shoot a dance video for my 100th video tour. I have almost 30 people submit content, and I love how it all came together! We’re silly. We’re alternative. We’re crazy, and, most of all, we don’t care if it’s embarrassing ! I think that is pretty obvious with some of our moves. Thank you to everyone who watches, shares, and love my videos as much as I do.  I’ll continue to make content as long as people still want it! Onto the next 100 video tours.

Well done, Jenna! You had a dream and you made it come true! I’m so proud of you! It’s been fun watching it all evolve!

Congratulations my friend …. completed 100 tiny tour videos. Amazing video really helpful. I like Tiny House.

' src=

Jenna – Your videos were inspirational in my decision to build a ‘large’ (26 foot long) tiny house, so thank you. It’s nearly complete, and I expect to be living in it by summer. I’m retired, building it entirely from a bit of savings (spent on trailer and windows) and from my social security income. And, believe it or not, it has a 12′ by 7.5′ dance floor. Yay.

' src=

Soooo happy for you!! Your videos have been so helpful and entertaining! Just becoming acquainted with the tiny house alternative, thanks to my children who each want to build one for me and my (fairly new spouse)! Guess we will be playing “musical tiny homes” in the future. Finishing preference list for one trailer that has already been started! As soon as I figure out how to subscribe… I Will!!!!!

5 Inspiring Tiny House YouTube Channels To Binge in 2024

' src=

Since getting into minimalism and sustainable living, I’ve naturally been fascinated with tiny homes. And after many years of watching tiny house youtube channels, my wife and I finally decided to purchase land and build our first tiny.

Our story isn’t unique. Many folks get into tiny living as a result of these channels.

I’ve probably watched over 1,000 tiny house tours and stumbled across some incredible YouTubers I want to acknowledge and share with you.

I’ve also included some of my favourite tiny tours for each show, and I’d love to hear about your top picks in the comments.

1. Living Big in a Tiny House

Bryce Langston’s YouTube show, Living Big in a Tiny House , is one of the most popular channels documenting the tiny house movement.

Living Big In A Tiny House YouTube

The New Zealand native gives viewers an inside look at all kinds of attractive small homes from around the world, including treehouses, earth homes, shipping container homes, busses and vans.

Bryce’s partner Rasa Pescud does videography for the show, which began in late 2013.

As someone who’s watched and subscribed to the channel for many years, I can attest to Bryce’s enthusiasm for tiny living—despite being a pretty big guy.

Couple Downsize Into Dream Off-The-Grid Tiny House

2. Exploring Alternatives

I came across Exploring Alternatives when doing research for a podcast episode on using minimalism to downsize your life . After seeing a story about how a man left his well-paying job to work part-time at a grocery store , I knew I had to see more.

Exploring Alternatives YouTube

The videos are beautifully shot and edited and tell fascinating stories about people living alternative lifestyles. Each video presents a unique perspective on living differently, from tiny house dwellers to long-term travellers.

What I love most about Exploring Alternatives is that it isn’t just about pretty homes and dreamy lifestyles. It’s also about the hard work and dedication that goes into living an alternative lifestyle.

Through their videos, the talented Canadian couple, Mat and Danielle, show that it’s possible to live a life that is both meaningful and sustainable.

3. Tiny House Giant Journey

I recently discovered Tiny House Giant Journey , and I’m now a fan. Jenna Spesard initially started a YouTube channel to document how she built and lived in a tiny house so that she could free up her finances and travel the world.

Tiny House Giant Journey YouTube

Tiny House Giant Journey has evolved to share alternative dwellings, lifestyle videos, and tiny vacation rentals while still capturing Jenna’s travel adventures and projects.

What I appreciate most is how raw and transparent Jenna is about tiny living. You learn the good and the not-so-good so that you can learn through her experiences.

Living in a Tiny House Stinks (Sometimes)

If you’re considering building a tiny house or entering the short-term rental market, you need to check out Rob Abasolo’s YouTube channel, Robuilt .

Robuilt YouTube

Rob is an expert in tiny house Airbnb rentals, and he’s 11x Airbnb Superhost with over $1.5 million in bookings .

Rob’s channel blew up when he shared his story of building a tiny house in his Los Angeles backyard for just $72k and renting it out on Airbnb. He’s since gone on to build tiny house villages and glamping sites, which he documents and shares in his videos.

Not only does Rob provide valuable insights and tips, but he also demonstrates that tiny homes can be highly profitable investments.

HOW MUCH MONEY MY TINY HOUSES MAKE and why Airbnb is the best way to make passive income

5. Tiny House Expedition

The Tiny House Expedition is run by a married couple, Alexis and Christian, who are self-proclaimed tiny home nerds.

Tiny House Expedition YouTube

After building their own tiny house on wheels (THOW) in 2015, they hit the road as full-time nomads. They’re still travelling part-time in their shuttle bus conversion.

What caught my attention about this channel was their “living tiny legally” series. Unfortunately, full-time tiny house living is not legal everywhere, as many local councils/counties aren’t quite sure how to categorise tiny houses.

So this series documents people’s experiences of dealing with local governments in different states and the experiences of other tiny house dwellers around the country.

It’s equally frustrating and inspiring and offers an intimate look at the multifaceted tiny house movement.

The best tiny house YouTube channels to follow

So that’s my short list of tiny home YouTubers worth following this year. From informative tiny tours to Airbnb rentals, they offer something for everyone.

What do you think? Who would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments below.

I absolutely love the tiny house movement and the creativity that goes into designing and building these micro homes. It’s so inspiring to see people living simply and sustainably, and I’m excited to check out these YouTube channels for more ideas and inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this post! I’ve been fascinated by the tiny house movement for years and it’s great to see so many inspiring channels on YouTube. I can’t wait to start binge-watching these channels and learning more about the lifestyle. Thank you for sharing this list!

I love watching tiny house YouTube channels! They’re so inspiring and motivating. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for tiny house living!

I love tiny homes, so thank you for these links. I built a small eco-cabin on a somewhat remote island, which wasn’t my first build, but it really cemented my disbelief in local building codes that do not support small eco-homes (so there were comprises with size, etc.). I definitely prefer a more portable life now and while I could someday see myself having a tiny home on wheels, or an eco van camper (as soon as they become eco enough to consider), tiny apartment living is working well, too, whether traveling or settling in for a bit. Gratitude.

Best Tiny House YouTube Channels

Learning how to transition to a tiny house lifestyle can be a daunting task. We recently published an article where we suggested several of the best tiny house books . For this article, I want to delve into the Youtube medium. Demonstrations are one of the best ways to learn, and the fact that the service is free means the price is right.

Top 10 Tiny House Youtube Channels

1, Tiny House Talk – If you have done much research on tiny houses, I am sure you have run across the Tiny House Talk website. It is a tremendous resource by itself. Alex Pino, out of Florida, operates the site. Alex also makes fun and helpful Youtube videos that have millions of views.

2. Living Big In A Tiny House – This channel has a wealth of what I lovingly refer to as tiny house porn. Those videos are essentially tours of impressive looking tiny houses. They also cover education DIY topics, such as constructing a tiny house trailer. The people who run this channel our based in New Zealand. The beautiful landscapes add to the value of these videos.

3. Tiny House Listings – This is one of my favorite websites. On the main site, they highlight tiny houses that are for sale. The Youtube channel is almost exclusively devoted to DIY projects, like installing flooring, counter tops, siding, etc. Most of their videos still have relatively few views, but I expect big things from this channel.

4. Kirsten Dirksen – her videos aren’t exclusively about tiny houses, but the ones she has are great. Many of her videos involve the stories of people who chose a minimalist lifestyle along with a tour of their tiny domicile. It is a really neat channel and several of her videos have well over 100,000 views.

5. The Do It Yourself World – building a tiny house is a great way to build new skills and discover interests you never knew you had. This channel is all about how to complete projects, like air conditioning and electric, that might otherwise seem terrifying. The videos on this channel are helpful and have been viewed by millions of people. If you are serious about your tiny house journey, I highly recommend checking it out.

6. relaxshacks – They have several 500,000+ view videos of beautiful tiny houses. Tips on space saving or salvaging are offered, but for the most part, this channel is about looking at some awesome tiny houses. Since the company offers workshops, you can get a pretty good feel for whether or not it would be worthwhile to buy a ticket. The video quality could be better and the hosts voice oddly gets on my nerves. I won’t dock him for this latter aspect since it is highly subjective.

7. Tiny House Design – This channel is by Michael Janzen. He mostly focuses on the tools and strategies needed to design your own tiny house. The information found here is useful for anyone who wants to add more of a unique touch to their tiny house than buying a set of off the shelf plans affords. I’ve highlighted a video where Michael discusses using SketchUp to design the house.

8. Tumbleweed – They provide fewer videos than I would expect, but since they are one of my favorite tiny house companies I couldn’t not plug their YouTube channel. They have one video from when Jay was still at the company that has received more than 2 million views! I suspect their content is purposefully scant since they would rather have you attend a workshop and learn how to do it the right way.

9. Kevin Coy – He looks like the type of guy who could survive in the woods for years after the zombies attack or nuclear fallout kills most in the big cities. His range of topics are incredibly useful, like framing, building a portable power plant, and using a wood stove. If you want your tiny house to be off the grid, this is the channel for you.

10. tiny House Build – They don’t have a wealth of videos, but they do have one of the most watched tiny house videos on Youtube with over 4 million views! It is an amazingly comprehensive tour of a well constructed tiny house. You can watch it below.

More amazing tiny homes! Check out all the tiny house ideas, and gather inspiration for your own tiny home!  Which one would YOU live in!?

14 More Amazing Tiny Homes! | Tiny House Ideas

Tiny houses are all the rage! Why? It all began with the  small house movement , an architectural and social movement that advocates living simply in tiny houses. General speaking, a tiny house is any home less than 1,000 square feet, built with the intention of living purposefully and sustainably. A conscious movement to have less, and do more. Or, to do more with less. Either way, the tiny house is a step toward using your space; walking away from the trend of having space for the sake of space. Tiny houses are lovable and creative homes. Homes that you can very easily order, buy off the market, or build yourself ! From small and basic (plywood everything), to astoundingly complicated (walls that move), we've rounded up some more of our own favorites here! Check them out!

I pulled a 33 ft RV around for 14 years ( and lived in it) and I am more than a little aware of what an vehical can pull as far as weight goes. I see these tiny homes made of a LOT of wood(heavy) and on wheels. But there is no mention of how much they weigh. I ended up pulling my (lived in) RV with a one ton dually. Even tho I had been pulling it with a 1/2 ton that was set up to tow. The wt of truck and RV only came to 17,000 lbs. which is a feather wt for my truck ( I had it set up to tow a 40 ft Fifth wheel which would have weighed in at around 24 to 34,000 plus pounds. The truck was rated to pull 36,000 lbs. Sooo seeing these tiny houses on wheels and. no info for wt. is a little scary to say the least. Where would I get THAT info?
