Boarding Points for Day Excursions

You can board your Johnsons Day Excursion from 40  local boarding points including Sutton Coldfield, Pype Hayes and Castle Bromwich in the north; Coventry, Warwick and Leamington in the east; Alvechurch and Barnt Green in the west; Evesham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Wellesbourne and Shipston-on-Stour in the south; and Birmingham and Solihull in the middle. Or you can park for free at our yard in Henley-in-Arden to join your day trip.

We provide full details and times for each Day Excursion so that you can clearly see what is included and how the Excursion has been designed to run. Reserved seating is provided on all day trips. Just choose your seat when you book – we find most people generally like to be near the front, so the earlier you book the better choice of seats you have.

What you can expect on board

Our wonderful fleet of coaches offer a luxury travelling experience with onboard entertainment and spacious seating. With air conditioning for the warmer months and heating to keep you toasty in the winter, we aim to provide total comfort for all our passengers whatever the season. Our large coaches are all fitted with toilets and seatbelts for our customer safety and convenience when on board. We have only run our services with our own high specification vehicles including minibuses to seat 6, right up to luxury charter coaches for 63 passengers.

Scotland the amazing with Shearings!

The 5 day/4 night package with Shearings to Edinburgh, Stirling and the Trossachs was great. Interchange at Rugby was handled efficiently, removing all the stress of baggage handling for the traveller. Although a long journey the frequent stops, cheerful, friendly and extremely competent driver (Chris) worked hard to make it an enjoyable journey. The hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow had good facilities and friendly staff but the food, particularly cooked breakfast, left something to be desired. Our driver, with his knowledge of the area, enhanced the trips which were enjoyed by all. He was always ready to go that 'extra mile' to make the holiday a pleasant experience. All the people on the coach were friendly and as a group there was fun and friendship. A great time was had by all so thank you Shearings for putting such a great package together, particularly the Tattoo. Outstanding!

What a fantastic holiday. There were a few hiccups that I will cover later but absolutely nothing that spoiled this amazing experience. Two of us travelled by Luxuria coach and we wouldn’t travel on a coach holiday any other way now! The drivers, Steve and Tom, were amazing, so knowledgeable about each country we passed through and stayed in. They were also great at keeping us all entertained on the coach, on the long journeys and the shorter ones, which really helped with the whole holiday experience and were really sociable in the evenings. The snack/drinks bar on the coach worked really well and was great value for money. I hope Leger read this and pass on our thanks to them. The first 2 hotels were overnight stays, Belgium and Germany, and were ok for the one night. The Jakobwirt hotel in Westendorf was really nice, in a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful. The optional excursions were good value for money, although the boat trip on Lake Achensee was a bit crowded and there wasn’t much room to sit outside. A few fellow travellers stayed inside and were a bit disappointed they couldn’t really get the feel of the lake. There wasn’t time on the excursion to Salzburg to do the Sound of Music tour which was a shame, so if you are booked on this tour don’t expect to do that! Westendorf was beautiful and we were lucky enough to be there on market day, which is once a month, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I haven’t visited Austria before but safe to say I’m in love with it and can’t wait to go back. I have signed up to. Leger walking holiday to Austria next year. A few minor problems, the mini bus driver from our pick up point to Clacket Lane services dropped us on the wrong side so we missed the connecting coach and he had to come back to get us and take us to services 24 to meet the main coach. Coming back we had to change at Dartford…..a trifle out of our way and the driver on the coach which took us there was rude and gave little or no information about the drop off points. A few people on that coach didn’t know where Dartford was, they were going back to Scotland, but the driver made no announcement that we were there, luckily we had spoken to them so could tell them they needed to get off! Dietary requirements weren’t particularly catered for, it seems that although Leger knew these there’s no passing on to the hotels, so took a bit of help from the drivers to get it sorted. Minor points in the big scheme of things, and I would definitely travel with Leger again.

Leger/Shearings Classical Italy tour. We have just returned from this tour which was not worth the money. Several of the hotels were less than basic, the food was much the same and other clients at the hotels were offered much better meals than we received. Air con was turned off at night at one hotel despite it being 29degrees. We spent hours and hours unnecessarily on the coach because the staff in the UK had no idea the hotels they were booking were at least two hours away from the sites we were visiting. Breakfast at 6.30 a.m and coach leaving at 7.30 a.m most days in order to get to the sites we were visiting mainly because the hotels were in such a remote place. Returned late most days so straight to evening meal without a shower and wind down. Coach drivers gave out very little information saying they were just the drivers whereas I have been on other coach trips and the drivers have been most helpful. We had to drag out of them when we were going to stop. Very keen on selling their cold water at £1 a go though. Will admit their driving was excellent. Such a shame they could have made our holiday so much more enjoyable. Tour around Rome was more like an endurance March and had to cut it short as several older people were finding it too much. All in all this holiday could have been so much nicer if it had been better organised with hotels nearer the sites to be visited. So much rushing around came back feeling exhausted and needing another holiday.

I would never use Leger/ Shearings coach holidays again. They need to review what they are selling you. Spend so long on the coach which was supposed to be luxury ( far from luxury) we only visited one place that was on the iternary which was sold in the holiday.,so very disappointed. The accommodation and food in all hotels we stayed at were discussing. It wasn't a cheap holiday either and was definitely not worth the money. If you do fancy a coach holiday do not use these trust me you will regret it!!

Shearings which is now owned by Leger. The following is my truthful and accurate account of my experience with Shearings this year. In May I travelled with them on a four day break to Harrogate. I live in Kent. I was picked up at 06.10 and arrived in Harrogate at 17.00 ,having had two coach changes and 11 stops..Getting home was equally harrowing.My joints were refusing to move after all those hours on the coach. The hotel was lovely but 4 days were in effect 2 days with a day travelling at both ends. Another upside as we had a nice driver. I had already booked two other trips with them, one to the Welsh borders and one to Isle of Wight. After my harrowing journey to Harrogate I decided to cancel the Welsh borders trip since I could not face another trip of 11 hours each way.this cancellation cost me £75.I accepted that since it was part of their terms and conditions. I kept the trip to aisle of Wight since I believed it would be a much shorter trip. No such luck. This is my account of that trip in July 2022 which incidentally I was still on when I wrote some of this. It was exceedingly hot: obviously I am not blaming Shearings for that, just setting the scene. I was picked up at 8.10am;after several more pick ups I arrived at cobham services at about 11.30am.We were told to return to the coach park at 12.30 pm to pick up our new coach for our destination. We came back at 12.30 and our coach still had not arrived. So we waited about 15 minutes and our coach arrived but the driver had to have a break so we were told to go back inside for another 30 minutes or so. When we came back to the coach, the suitcases were sitting outside the coach ready to be loaded and I check whether mine was there. It was along with the others so I boarded, no one checked us on the coach, the coach filled up and we left, very very late.Then before we had even left the services. the driver stopped and asked if all were going to Isle if Wight. .However the speaker system on the coach was broken,so he didn’t introduce himself and in fact no one could hear what he was saying. No one answered so he drove off.Then a very short time later we went into another service area. Everyone was groaning and saying oh no are we stopping again? However at that place he unloaded two people who should not have been on the coach and we then proceeded. When he stopped he shouted down to people near the back of the coach”oi you two Get off!”. We were way behind schedule and we got on the ferry for Isle of Wight at 4.00 pm.So we arrived at our destination around 5.00 pm .this trip from Kent to Isle of Wight had taken 9 hours. The return journey took 10 hours. There were three other people who should not have been on our coach. They were going to the other resort on Isle of Wight. The driver in fact did not speak to us or introduce himself for another day. He didn’t post anything on notice board either for first two days so most of us were left wondering what was happening. He did manage to convey the island trip was at 9.30 am the next morning. When we arrived at our destination and the cases were unloaded, I noticed my case was in the hold with the handle extended.When I managed to retrieve it the handle was stuck open and bent backwards and no way to retract it. It was perfectly ok when I observed it at Cobham services so someone had wrecked it in when loading it on to the coach. I now have a broken useless suitcase which I had only used once before. This was an expensive case(eminent) which had only been used once previously. I immediately phoned Shearings to inform them and get either a new suitcase or compensation to allow me to get one or a repair if it was possible. They phoned me back next day which was day2 and repeatedly( and I mean repeatedly) told me to claim off insurance.This was repeated to me at least a dozen times. I repeated to them that there is £50 excess on insurance and that wouldn’t be much less than the repair or replacement of the case and more importantly it was their responsibility. They phoned me when we were on one of the stops on the round the island trip on a bench outside the coach.The coach driver must have been listening to the conversation and asked me what was going on with my suitcase . I told him and he said he knew there was a case in the hold with the handle not retracted. He had also previously said he wanted someone to complain about the speaker system. Back on the coach he asked if anyone had complained. I said that I had when I was complaining about my suitcase. He said to me” are you going to spend all holiday complaining about your suitcase?” said I might. He said if I did he would put me to the back of the coach! He was rude and offensive. It would seem that the coach drivers load the cases on to their coaches, so I guess I may have touched a nerve. His name was Phil.The verbal encounter wasn’t banter. I am Irish and well practiced in banter. He just didn’t want the suitcase to be mentioned. I wonder why.on another occasion when travelling on the coach, I had a conversation with a couple to the left of me. They were telling me a story and we were all laughing.He said what are you lot laughing at? He may have thought we were laughing at him. I said we were talking about something funny. He said so you aren’t going to tell us then? Since when to we have to relate to coach a coach driver what we were talking about? A little later someone asked him where the coach would be parked for our homeward journey.eh said “For the fourth time —-“ I can honestly say he was the worst coach driver I have ever encountered. Several times he had to brake suddenly probably due to lack of concentration.On another occasion-a pedestrian had to dive into a hedge to avoid being run over by him, another time in a narrow road he continued on through on the wrong side of the road with a car coming the other way with the coach was bleeping because he was too near to parked cars. On several occasions he had to take a couple of goes at turnings that we’re not that narrow. and was always moaning about something and everything was everyone else’s fault . He didn’t evening say good morning when people entered the coach, he didn’t try to help anyone off on the coach. Shearings have have doggedly refused to accept liability for the damage to my case whilst in their care. Their booking terms and conditions reads as follows: ”We do not accept liability for loss or damage of any personal possessions unless you are able to demonstrate that is was caused either intentionally or negligently by our employers or suppliers” When you have a case that was loaded on board one coach fully functional and was off loaded a second coach broken it is reasonable to assume the damage was caused by one of their employees or suppliers.On my return journey I watched some of the cases being loaded and some were just thrown into the hold of the coach. On my way back I met a couple who told me that Shearings owed them £1000 for more than a year.When I suggested to go to ABTA they told me shearings were not in ABTA . There were a lot of disgruntled people around on all the coaches. I think I may have to say goodbye to anything being done about my suitcase, but not before I report them to trading standards. NEVER again would I subject myself to Shearings “holidays “. Let this be a salutary warning for anyone booking with Shearings.The parts of the trip that is their responsibility is absolutely dreadful. The accommodations are fine and these can be booked independently.

Travelled on a Luxuria coach with Leger Holidays on the Air War Europe Tour around Europe. The tour was superb - our guide Norman delivered such well researched material and was passionate about his subject WW2 RAF Bomber Command. The coach drivers Sandra and Pete were excellent drivers and highly professional. The coach was brand new and only the second time on the road. Seats were really comfortable and the vehicle was immaculate. Hotels were also very good throughout the tour. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Leger Holidays and would certainly travel with them again. Sad when the tour ended. Highly recommended.

We have searched high and low to bring you new and exciting destinations as well as plenty of old favourites. We believe that you will be spoilt for choice and truly is something for everyone!

Our friendly, knowledgeable and professional drivers are at the very heart of the success of every JH Coaches tour and look forward to welcoming you on board.

Our fleet of modern coaches are fitted with seat belts and have the latest features for your added safety and comfort.

The programme includes trips operating from the beginning of March through to the end of December. You have a selection of 180 trips between the 10th March and the 15th December, featuring a great choice of interesting and unique destinations for all ages. Some of these trips include live shows, festivals, scenic tours, Christmas markets, special events and MORE. Take our NEW trip for example, The Valleys, Spells & Fells gives you the chance to visit the Boundary Outlet at Colne before heading to meet our guide. We will be taken to Whalley, England’s largest village before continuing through unforgettable countryside to Downham, home to many films and BBC drama series. We then ascend the famous Pendle Hill, long associated with the Lancashire witches and pass through Sabden village before ending with more stunning scenic views of the valley. We then have time at Oswaldtwistle Mills, this former weaving mill has over 100 retailers all under one roof. Or if you enjoy the countryside, we have our Bowness on Windermere Day Excursion. Plus, we have amazing family and children orientated trips with Wildlife Parks, Theme-parks and Museums all included in our new brochure! There really is something for everyone. COASTAL RESORTS

Family favourites, festive season, houses & gardens, retail therapy, scenic splendour, special events, trains, planes, boats, terms & conditions.

Some excursions have been planned many months in advance and unavoidably dates/details may change, so we reserve the right to amend any excursion or itinerary contained within this brochure or otherwise advertised. Should you need to cancel your place on one of our excursions once you have booked, a cancellation fee of £5 per person per excursion will apply. If the excursion(s) included admission fees, these may also be payable. All day excursions run to a minimum number. Where possible, we try to run all our excursions as advertised, however we reserve the right to cancel excursions should the numbers be too low. We will advise you as soon as possible prior to the departure date if we have had to cancel the excursion. Children are, unless otherwise stated, classed as being between the ages of 3 to 15 years old on the day of the excursion. Passengers over the age of 15 must, unless otherwise stated, pay the adult fare. Infants under the age of 3 years old are free to travel as long as they do not occupy a seat on the coach. If you wish for your infant to have their own seat then the child fare must be paid.

Children under 14 years of age are not permitted to travel without being accompanied throughout the journey by a responsible person aged 16 years or over. Children aged 14 - 15 years old may travel unaccompanied, as from 5am, arriving at their booked destination no later than 10pm. Unaccompanied children will be asked for proof of age or a signed letter of permission from their parent/guardian. (sms or chat based messages are not permissible)

One infant aged 0-2 travels free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Additional infants aged 0-2 must be paid for. If you are travelling with more than 1 infant aged 0-2, please book the additional infant as 'Children (3-15).

Our passenger descriptions are designed to help you choose the right ticket for yourself or your fellow travellers.

Adult (16+) and Children (3-15)

Children under 14 cannot travel alone unless accompanied by an adult (16+). Please note, you may be required to show proof of age at any point during your journey. Failure to do so, may result in the full adult fare being charged.

Children (3-15)

Children under 14 cannot travel alone unless accompanied by a responsible adult (16+).

Disabled Children

Should be booked as Children. If they are travelling in a wheelchair or require assistance, please call our Assisted Travel Helpline.

We strongly recommend that you bring a car seat appropriate to your child's age, but ask you to take responsibility to fit the seat.

Booster Seats

Children aged between approximately 4-11 years old, or up to 150cm tall, may use booster seats. We carry a limited number onboard most coaches.

If travelling with a child, you may be required to show proof of age when buying tickets or at any point during your journey. Failure to do so may result in the child being required to pay the full fare for the journey on that day.

We have three different Coachcards available, each offering savings of 1/3 on all of our Standard and Fully Flexible coach fares all year round.

Had a really nice weekend at this hotel. Twin room basic and clean. Staff were excellent and hapy to help. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. The entertainment was good. Our National Holidays driver, TERRY, was great and had a very good knowledge of the areas history and landmarks. We would definately go again.

Travelled with Shearings to St Ives last week - hotel was beyond my expectations - all staff extremely attentive and courteous- rooms superb - food amazing for the price paid. What more can I say - the manager must be extremepy staisfied with his staff for the service they provided. Well done thanks to all at the hotel.

we have just come back from the st. ives bay hotel and one word describes the hotel - fantastic. the staff are marvellous and nothing is too much trouble for them. we enjoyed it so much that we are going back next year. some of the comments we read prior to going made us wary of what to expect but we needn't have worried as everything was great. roll-on next year.

firstly let me say our facilities where very good the only thing we could fault with the hotel was the heat of all rooms which made it a bit stifling. the staff where nice and friendly but no 1st names where given to call them. free bar was good but slow service with queues constantlythe upgrade cost of 50 per spirit is well worth it.the ood was fine and hot,main lounge tv was dominated by same group of people.st ives is a lovely place but we found many shops and galleries closed on sunday which was a pity.the entertainment was moderate but ok for the price

Having read some of the comments people have written, i'm thinking they want 5 star hotels at bargain prices. This hotel was great for our break, the rooms were spotless and the radiators were piping hot,our shower rooms looked as if they had been recently retiled and new shower units installed. The hotel has beautiful upgraded rooms at extra cost with flat screen tv's and lovely fittings, if you want them. We booked 3 single rooms all with sea views, 2 had balconies, the views were stunning. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and our waiting staff was fast and efficient, with food served on hot plates and vegetables served seperatley, so you could help yourself,We had 3 choices of starter, 4-5 choices of main meal and 3 choices of sweet or cheese and biscuits + coffee or tea.If people are not happy with the choices perhaps they should try in St Ives for an evening meal i'm sure they woud be willing to pay £20 + each for a resteraunt there. Our driver was the best and made our stay very good, with a trip to Falmouth , we opted for a boat trip, bloomin freezing but great views on the River Fal.Then we went the next day to Land's end, St Michaels mount and Penzance, thank you for a fabulous trip, and a very safe journey home.

Tour Connect

With our Tour Connect service, we will pick you up from a convenient joining point near you and transfer you to your holiday coach at the interchange via our feeder network, and take you back once your holiday is over.

Join at your Hotel

A selection of the hotels we use offer car parking facilities, should you wish to make your own way there.

At the Interchange

At the interchange, our trained team takes your luggage from the feeder vehicle to your main tour coach. You then board your tour coach and you’ll be on your way.

Home Connect

From your front door to your final frontier! With our Home Connect service, we pick you up and drop you off at home, which means you don’t have to worry about making your way to a joining point and offers the ultimate in stress-free travel. This is available from £45 each way and is subject to availability.

Reserve your seats

Seats are allocated on your main tour coach, and for a small supplement, you can guarantee front or second row seats. If you prefer to sit a bit further back, choose our central view seats (subject to availability). Seats are not available to reserve on your transfer vehicle.
