JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown’s collaborative LP came out last month and features the songs ‘Lean Beef Patty’ and ‘Scaring The Hoes’ .
Along with the release of the album, JPEGMAFIA shared a behind-the-scenes documentary of the artists at work on the project.
Uploaded to the rapper’s official YouTube account , the short film included footage of Brown laying down vocals alongside JPEG in a makeshift studio at one of the rapper’s homes. They also discussed influences and the musical direction for the album.
In other news, Brown recently updated his fans on the whereabouts of his sixth studio album, ‘Quaranta’ – accusing his management and label of delaying the release.
“Y’all gotta understand, me working with Warp – I don’t know with Warp and my management, man. I turned my album in two years ago,” he shared on his podcast The Danny Brown Show . “We’re still working on the album,” he continued, “and shit’s getting doper but at this point, man, it’s like where’s the urgency?”
In 2021 he made his debut as a stand-up comedian , opening for Hannibal Buress at a show in Texas.
Meanwhile, JPEGMAFIA has said that ‘Scaring The Hoes’ is the first of three albums he will release in 2023 .
The rapper’s next album will follow 2021’s ‘LP!’, which NME described in a four-star review as a “a wacky free-for-all fourth album” in which the “idiosyncratic Brooklynite shows the world how unique he is once again”.

Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA Are ‘Scaring the Hoes’ During Summer Tour
In july, danny brown and jpegmafia will embark on a summer tour to support their debut collaborative album, scaring the hoes ..
Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA are Scaring the Hoes during their tour this summer. The two have announced the multi-city tour, which kicks off on July 25th, followed by stops in Cleveland, New Haven, Philadelphia, NYC, Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, and more before concluding on August 26 in Dallas.

Scaring the Hoes released in March , helmed by lead singles “Lean Beef Patty” and “Scaring the Hoes.” The album follows Brown’s latest solo release, the Q-Tip executive-produced Uknowhatimsayin¿ in 2019 and JPEGMAFIA’s 2021 effort LP!. The two rappers banded together for Scaring the Hoes after JPEGMAFIA featured on Brown’s “Negro Spiritual” and produced “3 Tearz” from Uknowhatimsayin¿.
Also last month, Brown revealed during his SXSW showcase that he’s checking into rehab, citing alcohol abuse.
“At the end of the day, I’m 42 years old. Sitting around smoking blunts all day, and getting drunk is getting old,” he said on stage, according to VIBE . “Y’all have y’all fun but shit could get dark. I’m going to get help."
The Detroit emcee also apologized to fans for unintentionally influencing them to take drugs after listening to his music.
“I’ma go do my lil time, but I will say this,” he added. “I made so many songs about doing drugs… sometimes I feel bad about that shit… if I fucked your life up, I’m sorry.”
While it seems like Brown is trying to clean up his act, the Scaring the Hoes Tour is promised to be a trip to the wild side. Tickets for the tour go on sale Tuesday, April 25th at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

Jpegmafia and danny brown are here to blow up your function, the two rappers delight in 'scaring the hoes' on a joyously chaotic collab.

Rappers Danny Brown (left) and JPEGMAFIA embrace their abrasive sides on Scaring the Hoes , a joyously chaotic collaboration glued together by JPEG's collage-like production.
On the rap internet, "scaring the hoes" has become code for a certain type of hip-hop: anything abrasive or weird or super-lyrical, designed for repeat close listening. More broadly, the phrase has evolved into a euphemism for any rap considered unfit for a party or similar social setting. To play Death Grips at the function is to scare the hoes. Born from a meme of existential non sequiturs, the distinction is less about what women might actually enjoy listening to casually and more about guys missing common cues, not understanding that there is a time and a place for a specific kind of artist, one that might disrupt the natural flow of a gathering, or worse: something so intrusive or annoying that the most important patrons might leave.
JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown are easy first-round picks for this category — craft-first eccentrics with singular catalogs that demand some recalibration of the ear. But on their new collaboration, it's clear the two rappers see that innocuous plea to simply let the Rap Caviar playlist run as something more sinister: a capitulation to homogenous, mass-produced music, fodder for revelers who couldn't begin to care about the form. Their mission is laid out flat on Scaring the Hoes' title track, with Brown pantomiming the breathless exploitations of a money-grubbing music executive: "Said it ain't about the bars 'cause it's all about the brand / Say it ain't about the art, 'cause it's all about the fans / Give a f*** about a fan, put the money in my hand." In response, the pair of MCs agree to embrace the pejorative as a challenge, delivering a hyperactive album that is as gratifying as it is overloaded, a truly jarring and yet refreshingly in-your-face display of restorative rap that refuses to go unheard.
Blaxploitation is a familiar influence for both JPEG and Brown, and the album's cover art invokes those aesthetics with a direct tribute to the 1973 film Sweet Jesus, Preacherman . But the music is even truer to the hallmarks of those movies: independently produced, conspicuously low-budget and gleefully transgressive. In this case, the pulp indicators are digital: the Nextel chirp and the default iMessage notification tone, Nintendo and Sega video game sounds, clips from obscure YouTube tutorials. JPEG produced the album on the SP-404, a sampler that has become a favorite for producers at live shows, and it gives the music an almost collage-like texture. The samples sound distorted, out of focus. The vocal flips, sourced from across an eclectic soundboard — Diddy's "I Need A Girl (Pt. 2)," NSYNC's "Gone," Kelis' "Milkshake," the anime The Vision of Escaflowne, a tourism commercial for Hokkaido — often morph to reveal a secondary form like a shonen protagonist. Unlike JPEG's understated last album, LP! (which he also produced, mixed and mastered himself), Scaring the Hoes is defiantly garbled, turning a squawking Dirty Beaches outtake into a brutalist rap flamenco on the title track or giving lounge-room jazz a raver feel on "Jack Harlow Combo Meal." All the while, its co-stars negotiate these set pieces like action stunt doubles, crashing through everything in their path with aplomb.
Collaborations are often about compromise or competition. Here, JPEG approached Brown with the idea (as a longtime fan), and their arrangement doesn't force either artist to sacrifice much. Brown practices his zany pimp raps as deftly as ever, and his whiny, off-kilter flows flap through the bustling production like a tube man being pulled through a car wash. Meanwhile, JPEG is the foul-mouthed comedian onstage mocking hecklers through a megaphone, challenging any keyboard warriors smearing him to single combat. There isn't much interplay — these two aren't natural complements like Run the Jewels — but JPEG's initiative suits Brown's cavalierness well. Brown is laid back while JPEG is on guard; when Brown is alert, JPEG is on standby, and this style creates a natural pendulum-like rhythm. On "Steppa Pig," Brown pops out curtly then cedes the runway to his partner. On "Where Ya Get Ya Coke From?" it feels like JPEG is warming up for the closer. This isn't meant to be a niche, punk-rap Watch the Throne or What a Time to Be Alive . This is a pair of weirdo bachelors bum-rushing the show. This is Wedding Crashers .
Noise rap is always a confrontation, seeking to either push you to the brink or pull you in closer, and the tenor of the taunting here leans toward the latter. "You satire, camp fires to Al-Qaeda / I'm like the only lighter in Rikers," Brown raps on "Shut Yo Bitch Ass Up / Muddy Waters" in one of many verses full of numb-faced, narcotic oversharing. JPEG navigates similar signifiers from a more aggrieved perspective: "Back in this bitch with the dope, she backin' it up for a gram / Baby, I cannot do nothing with hope, I'ma try molly and xans / Been tryna get me to ghost, boy, you ain't Kai, one twitch and you banned / 90 degrees with a coat, ho, and I ain't showin' my hands," he raps on "Steppa Pig." He's always been the cynic speaking truth to power (or trolling it), so it's fitting that he raps so much about the more colorful figures of statecraft here: There are smirking references to Hunter Biden, Ghislaine Maxwell and Matt Gaetz, and at one point a quip that the political left and right are the same. In a way, the album comes across as one epic act of s***posting.
And that, in a nutshell, may be the most clever way to play into the perception of "scaring the hoes": Create something deliberately repellent and dare the audience to stick around. Scaring the Hoes is a speaker knocker masquerading as a party ender, a super-referential album of gags and antics and innuendos with raps about gags and antics and innuendos. Criticism of late has favored talk of music that "sounds like the internet," but few recent projects can rival this one in its feed-like reproduction of context collapse and its Web 2.0-like compression of information. It has the ADHD-addled split focus and surrealist bent of hyperpop, yet it also has a grip on the online world's influence over the real one. In the span of a few minutes on "Burfict!" the duo cites r/WallStreetBets and meme stocks, shock YouTube streamer IShowSpeed and edgelord podcaster Joe Rogan, text-to-speech donations and G4's Attack of the Show! The album recycles kitsch culture into social capital until you can't tell the difference.

French Open: Jannik Sinner survives scare to set-up quarters with Grigor Dimitrov
Australian open champion jannik sinner survived a scare against frenchman corentin moutet to reach the quarter-finals. sinner will face grigor dimitrov, who has been on a resurgent run on the tour, in the last-eight match at roland garros 2024..
Listen to Story
- Jannik Sinner defeated Corentin Moutet in four sets in a Round of 16 match
- Sinner will take on Grigor Dimitrov, who has been on a resurgent run
- Sinner won the Australian Open earlier in the year
Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner battled against the crowd at the Philippe-Chatrier and an inspired local favourite Corentin Moutet in a thrilling Round of 16 match on Sunday. Sinner was nearly bageled in the first set, but he fought back and sealed a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 victory to progress to the men's singles quarter-final. Sinner will take on Grigor Dimitrov, who continued his resurgent run on clay, beating 8th seed Hubert Hurkacz in a fourth-round match.
Jannik Sinner has equalled his best-ever performance in Roland Garros and the Italian will be looking to carry forward his good run after having begun the year with the Australian Open crown.
Sinner conceded that he found Corentin Moutet tough to handle, especially because of the left-handed artistry that the Frenchman displayed in the opening set. The crowd was rallying behind the local star when he threatened to blank the Australian Open champion in the first set.
"It was very tough for me. I think he played very, very well in the first set. I had some chances, but he played much better than me, so I had to adjust a little bit. He had an amazing run here at Roland Garros. The atmosphere as always was amazing," Sinner said.
"He plays differently to most of my opponents, so it was tough for me. He is also a lefty. You don't play so many times against left-handers, so I'm happy to be in the next round," he added.
Moutet was bidding to become the first Frenchman to reach the French Open quarter-final since Richard Gasquet in 2016 showcased his touch game in the opening set, making Sinner run around the court with his slices and drop shots. Moutet was riding on the wave of support from the Paris crowd, but he was soon brought down to earth by Sinner.
Sinner looked confident after he broke for a 4-2 lead in the second set and never looked back from there. The Italian found his range and steamrolled Moutet in the last three sets.
Sinner, who had been struggling with a hip injury in the lead up to the French Open, is bidding to become the World No. 1. He is keeping up the pressure on Novak Djokovic, who will lose his numero uno spot if he doesn't reach the final of the Roland Garros this year. Sinner will take the spot if he reaches the final. Eminem Takes Aim At Megan Thee Stallion In New Song ‘Houdini’ With Tory Lanez Shooting Reference

Some fans think Eminem dissed Megan Thee Stallion in his new song “Houdini,” pointing to a lyric that appears to reference her 2020 shooting by Tory Lanez, while fans defended the name-drop as typical for the rapper’s intentionally provocative alter-ego, Slim Shady.

In new song “ Houdini ,” Eminem raps: “If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me, would I really have a shot at a feat?”
The line is likely a reference to rapper Tory Lanez shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020, for which he was found guilty in 2022 and began a 10-year prison sentence in 2023.
The line divided listeners, with some interpreting it as a diss and a low blow against Megan Thee Stallion, while fans pointed out Eminem has long been intentionally provocative as his alter-ego, Slim Shady.
Though Megan Thee Stallion has not commented on Eminem’s song, she has previously slammed rappers for seeking “clout” by using the shooting as a diss.
Also in “ Houdini ,” the lead single to Eminem’s upcoming album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),” the rapper name-drops R. Kelly, Dr. Dre and RuPaul, even taking aim at his own children (“they're brats”).
Key Background
In 2022, Drake rapped in his song with 21 Savage, “ Circo Loco ,” that “this b— lie ‘bout getting shots, but she still a stallion”—which many interpreted to be a diss suggesting Megan Thee Stallion fabricated the shooting incident. She fired back on social media: “Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot!” She slammed Drake and other rappers for being ready to “dog pile on a black woman when she say one of y’all homeboys abused her.” In January, Megan Thee Stallion released “ HISS ,” perceived as a diss track against Drake, Nicki Minaj and more, slamming those who bring up her name for “twenty-four hours of attention.” After Minaj interpreted a line in “HISS” to be a diss at her husband, registered sex offender Kenneth Petty (“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law”—a reference to the federal law requiring convicted sex offenders to be publicly disclosed), Minaj released a diss track titled “ Big Foot ,” with several lyrics suggesting the Lanez shooting was fabricated. In “Big Foot,” Minaj raps: “F— you get shot with no scar?” and “How you go on Gayle King and can't cry?” the latter referencing Megan Thee Stallion’s 2022 interview with journalist Gayle King about the shooting.
Chief Critics
Some social media users and reviewers slammed Eminem’s song, particularly the Megan Thee Stallion lyric. “What exactly did this girl do to deserve this type of harassment by male rappers constantly? I mean genuinely what did she do?” one post on X , liked more than 100,000 times, states. Music publication Stereogum called the song “terrible” and criticized the lyrics, including the Lanez shooting reference, as “cluttered and unpleasant.” The New York Times music critics called Eminem “desperate to offend at every turn” with “stiltedly rapped jokes.” Music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy tweeted : “Eminem’s career has largely been built on being shocking and provocative to certain audiences … Being 51 years old and taking shots at Megan Thee Stallion? Out of touch.”
Eminem’s fans on social media noted he rapped in character as Slim Shady—his more angry and aggressive alter-ego—and claimed Eminem himself was not dissing Megan Thee Stallion. “Anyone who listens to hip hop already knows this ain’t a diss from Eminem, he’s known for taking funny jabs in bars at anyone,” one user posted on X . USA Today admitted the lyric was “mean,” but called it “clever,” noting Eminem is “famous for cutting down peers in his songs.”
Several rappers have garnered significant attention and chart success with diss tracks this year, starting with “HISS” and “Big Foot” in January. Both songs went viral, and “HISS” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In March, Kendrick Lamar kicked off what would become a weekslong and increasingly dramatic feud with Drake that saw the two drop a combined nine diss tracks between March and May. Lamar first threw jabs at Drake on “Like That,” slamming a prior lyric from J. Cole that said the three rappers made up the “big three” of rap, with Lamar instead stating it’s “just big me.” “Like That” topped the Hot 100 for three weeks. Over the next several weeks, Drake and Lamar traded wild accusations through diss tracks: Lamar accused Drake of being a “predator” attracted to minors and having a secret daughter (both of which he denied), while Drake accused Lamar of abusing his wife. At the peak of the feud, Drake and Lamar ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, on the Spotify daily artists charts, and Lamar’s diss “Not Like Us” topped the Hot 100 .

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.
Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.
Belfry and Neighbouring Churches
Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.
To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.
Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.
Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.
Tsaritsa's Chambers
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.
At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.
Palace of Tsar Alexis
The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
