About the company.

Caravan Tours began selling fully escorted tours in 1952. We have been under the same management and ownership ever since. In 1965, Roger Mudd hosted a two hours CBS TV special on Caravan Tours. This TV production took about one month to make and was so successful it inspired the 1968 romantic comedy movie “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium.” In the early 50’s the Mayor of Dublin presented Caravan with the Key to Dublin for bringing the first American tour to the city after WWII. Since then Caravan has been recognized as a pioneer in travel.

Great Value, Book Early

Caravan’s strong buying power gives you great vacations at prices much lower than you can find anywhere. Last year many of our tours sold out quickly. Book early for the date you prefer and the best airfare.

How does Caravan Tours sell these tours for such a low cost? Caravan delivers volume to our suppliers, who in turn reward us with their very best  prices we, in turn, pass these savings on to you, and you reward us by buying our tours.  As volume continues to rise, we then receive even better prices from our suppliers, and  we pass even greater savings on to you. This year our tours are better than ever. How satisfied are Caravan clients? The short answer is “very.” Our surveys are uniformly very positive. However we  continually strive to improve our tours, (they are often updated several times in the  course of one year), we study all client surveys and suggestions for improvement very  carefully. Pitch-Free Travel : Caravan includes all activities listed in the tour itinerary page. Caravan does not  sell any optional activities which can add hundreds of dollars to your tour price. Your  free time is scheduled in great settings where there is no need to buy additional  expensive activities.

The Best Savannah Tours

A great way to get to know Savannah, Georgia, is with the aid of someone who lives there and knows the city's history. With the help of traveler reviews and editor analysis, U.S. News selected Savannah's best guided tours, some of which focus on the city's architecture, others on its food and some on its ghostly residents . Whether you're walking through the Historic District or riding a Segway through a storied cemetery, you'll gain an insider's perspective on Savannah's top attractions , culture and folklore on these tours.

Editor’s Pick: Gray Line Savannah – Savannah Land & Sea Tour

Price: Adults from $74; kids from $36 Duration: 3 hours

U.S. News independently paid to send Tanvi Chauhan , a travel writer and book author based in Savannah, on this tour to provide readers with an unbiased, first-hand perspective of what to expect. Gray Line Savannah – Savannah Land & Sea Tour was selected by our team as an Editor’s Pick thanks to its popularity and favorable user reviews.

The combination tour offers an excellent way to both begin and conclude your day in the city. The land tour takes place aboard an open trolley bus, with a driver who also serves as your tour guide. Commencing at the Georgia State Railroad Museum, the tour proceeds through numerous renowned landmarks, including the iconic Forsyth Park , the historic Harper Fowlkes House and the infamous Sorrel-Weed House . You'll also see attractions featured in the New York Times bestseller "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," such as Clary’s Café, and locations from "Forrest Gump," like Chippewa Square. The bus tour covers the historic district and a portion of River Street only. Popular districts like the Plant Riverside District, the newly developed Eastern Wharf and nonhistoric areas like Starland are not included on the tour. Guides are expert narrators with extensive knowledge of historical periods, especially in the Revolutionary War, Civil War and slave trade history. Due to the fast pace from one location to another, not much in-depth information is provided about any given landmark, making it best suited for travelers interested in a general overview.

The boat tour offers a unique perspective of the city skyline compared to the bus tour. Onboard the Georgia Queen, visitors receive a narrated tour by the captain, covering the history of the Savannah River, the Fort Jackson National Monument (which is visible along the route) and a deeper exploration of the Savannah port's economics.

Why we love it:

  • The tour guide may highlight minute details often overlooked in other, more generic tours. Traveling with guide John, for instance, offers casual learning opportunities about Webb Military Museum, the American Legion, the Kessler Mansion, the Gingerbread House, and the Victorian-style Forsyth Animal Hospital, along with amusing anecdotes about Sir Henry Ellis, after whom the Ellis Square is named.
  • While meals are not provided on the boat tour, there is a bar with concessions available on both the inside and outside decks. Plus, opting for the 3:30 p.m. tour increases your chances of spotting dolphins (for free), as they're more active in late afternoon.
  • The optimal way to experience this tour is to begin with a land tour at 9:30 a.m., which concludes at 11 a.m. You can request the driver to drop you off at any point on their loop for lunch at the end of the tour (consider trying the renowned Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, open Monday to Friday only). After lunch, explore the city squares and make your way back to River Street to catch the 3:30 p.m. boat tour. The river tour typically finishes just as River Street and the adjacent Plant Riverside District come alive with live music, seafood restaurants, bars and vibrant activity.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. saravah tours

 About us

Three born-and-raised Brazilians found themselves in Ottawa and shared the challenges and wonderment of arriving and establishing themselves in a new country. Through Saravah – established in August 2023 – the team supports newly arrived Brazilians with settlement support in the national capital. Claudia Balladelli, Silvia Saraiva and Malu Anastacio are at the forefront of this nonprofit organization focused on presenting culturally diverse events rooted in Brazilian heritage, customs, and lifestyle. They are committed to curating an amazing journey into Brazil’s art, cultures, traditions, and cuisine.

Silvia Saraiva  Co-founder and Artistic Director

Silvia Saraiva was born and raised in the northeast region of Brazil and has been living in Canada for 15 years. She practices as a physiotherapist with a special interest in women’s and pelvic health. Music has always been a passion and from an early age, she has been surrounded by rich Brazilian cultures. Silvia has been strongly influenced by northeastern rhythm diversity such as forró, xóte, baiao, coco de roda, frevo, and maracatu; exploring genres beyond classic bossa nova, samba, and Brazilian popular music (MPB).  Given the limited exposure to Brazilian heritage and cultural events in Canada and her love for the arts, Silvia decided to unite forces with her close friends, Claudia and Malu, to create a non-profit organization named Saravah. She strongly believes in bringing awareness to her culture while also inviting all peoples to promote diversity and inclusion in the events they create.

Claudia Balladelli, Co-founder / Executive Director

Brazilian born and raised Claudia Balladelli has resided in Canada for 22 years. Claudia’s involvement with Mercury Lounge, a prominent music venue in Ottawa, Canada has evolved with a multi-disciplinary role from music programming and events coordination acting as a promoter and publicist as well. In 2016, she was invited by Heikki Eiden to represent his boutique agency: Eiden Music Agency in Canada. Claudia assisted the agency by booking, planning, and executing Canadian tours for the company’s roster of bands until January 2022.In 2019, Claudia and long-time friend Yasmina Proveyer have founded AxéWorldfest, a non-profit organization with a focus on curating BIPOC, newcomers, new generation, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, artists with disabilities, and those who face increased systemic barriers to presenting their work. Since then, the organization has established partnerships with prominent arts institutions and festivals in Canada. In early 2021, the team planned and executed their first free online stream of the Empowering Women in the Music Industry conference. The team hosts the conference annually in collaboration with The National Arts Centre as its hosting partner in Ottawa making the event hybrid and free.

In 2023, Claudia also joined forces with fellow Brazilian colleagues to co-found Saravah, a non-profit organization to produce and promote the culturally diverse heritage of their homeland, Brazil, as well as to support newly emigrated Brazilians in Ottawa. Claudia’s history of producing Brazilian shows goes back 20 years having presented various Brazilian acts in Ottawa such as: Rael, Pedro Quental from Monobloco, Lu horta from Barbatuques, Aline Morales, Rommel, Liniker e os Caramelows, DJ Mari Rossi, Baobá, Bebel Gilberto, Monica Freire, Bixiga 70, Chef Guga Rocha, Da Lata, Drumagick, Eduardo Brechó from Aláfia, DJ Tahira, Florquestra Brasil, Jer, Moreno Veloso +2, Nego Moçambique, Projeto Coisa Fina, Tita Lima, Céu, Tupi Collective, Flavia Nascimento & Tio Chorinho, Victor Anastácio, to name a few. The group is currently

planning to attend Brazil Music Summit in São Paulo at the end of January and Porto Musical conference in Feb 2024 and drafting the strategy for 2024/2025.

Maria Anastacio (Malu) - Community Engagement Director

Maria Anastacio was born and raised in the south of Brazil and she immigrated to Canada in January 2020. She has been a language teacher for 20 years. She is also a bass player. In Brazil, she organized fundraising concerts with local bands for animal shelters and rescues. In Canada, she assists on the management of the musician Victor Anastacio. She has started working as a volunteer for the Axé Worldfest team as an event organizer assistant and ambassador helping spread the world about global events, concert series, and the conferences that Axé Worldfest organizes in Ottawa. She wishes to organize inclusive events, introducing and spreading Brazilian heritage in the National Capital region. Malu takes the role of Director of Community Engagement in our organization, she has been helping and supporting Brazilian families to emigrate to Canada with recommendations and sharing her recent experience immigrating to our country herself. She also helps the recently immigrated Brazilians with settlement, basic items, and recommendations of housing and schooling. Maria embarks on a journey joining Claudia and Silvia at the Saravah because she believes that spreading the heritage of Brazil is crucial, providing an opportunity for Brazilian-Canadians to connect with their diverse history, including the cultures, and contributions of Brazilian Indigenous peoples.

"This was my dream vacation and along with my husband, best friend and her husband, I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Breakfasts were amazing, the hotels very nice clean and the scenery was just beautiful. The sights were awesome, more than I ever expected. The colors were perfect and the history was out of this world. Saw everything we hoped for plus more than was planned. The fall foliage was at the perfect time and was beautiful. I would definitely take another tour with Caravan. It was a lifetime experience. Everything I wanted to see. Thank you." Mr. & Mrs. S.B., Minot, North Dakota
"Beautiful, magnificent hotels. The views from the hotels in the mountains were breathtaking. The photo stops were great and offered all the marvelous views of each state. Sightseeing was awesome, so many things to see and do." Ms. N.K., Apopka, Florida
"Thoroughly enjoyed my first trip with Caravan Tours - will return for other trips! Enjoyed all the sightseeing opportunities and added ideas from our director, who was excellent and pointed out sites to see for pictures. Gave historical info, added stories, answered questions. Provided materials and maps and was always very polite, friendly and cheerful. We had sufficient time to enjoy the surroundings and take pictures. Enjoyed the variety of activities, films, displays. All the hotels were four to five star with clean comfortable beds and self controlled environments. Just a lovely time all around. Will share with friends." Mr. & Mrs. J.A., Tucson, Arizona
"Over the top! First time to New England and I really felt we covered so much, enough to suit everyone. I’m an artist and took so many pics, I’ll be painting from them for years to come. This was the first guided tour we had ever taken so we did not know what to expect. Tour was GREAT. We thought going in that would be lots of down (boring) time. Wrong. All the activities were well-planned and fun. Tour was set up to provide much to see. The time went by fast and colorfully. We were told by a couple that wasn’t on the tour who saw our Caravan luggage tags that we would have a great time and that Caravan does the best tours. SO TRUE! Thanks for a wonderful trip." Mr. & Mrs. E.L., Aurora, Colorado
"The Caravan value is unsurpassed. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has never traveled to New England states, loves history and beautiful scenery. We were fortunate to enjoy a late fall foliage. Photo stops abound on the multistate tour. We really enjoyed the history and beauty of the region. Our tour guide left no question unanswered. We loved the smaller boutique hotels and the condo with the fireplace." Mrs. C.D., Reisterstown, Maryland
"This was my first guided tour, and I feel like I hit the jackpot. Our director shared insights into history and was attentive to our needs. Our team worked together to offer us the best views and colors, even making some adjustments along the way. All our short stops were for rest and conveniences and beautiful photo opportunities. All our main activities were well-planned, with plenty of time to enjoy each stop, and the colors were breathtaking. I truly enjoyed this trip. I enjoyed meeting new people and our weather was spectacular. I will definitely recommend Caravan to others." Ms. F.L., Rusk, Texas
"Excellent. We learned so much more of our country’s history, and our TD was the best. Couldn’t have asked for better. We all laughed and had a great time. We were so pleased with everything we did. All the staff at each hotel were wonderful, and the seafood was terrific. So nice to not worry about our bags and rooms. Love your company and will tell everyone what a great time we had. You are the best!" Mr. & Mrs. S.M., Bayfield, Colorado
