The sponsor (husband) already has a QID for Doha so could apply from within. How can we bring nanny in direct from Dubai? Really feeling lost. Thank you.

Entry Requirements when Visiting Qatar

In addition to holding a valid Qatar visa, Philippines citizens must also present the following documents upon arrival at Doha International Airport or other ports of entry:

• Passport with 6 months minimum validity and at least 3 blank pages

• Copy of your confirmed hotel reservation in Qatar

• Confirmed return flight ticket booking

• Proof of sufficient funds – at least QR 300 per day

• Health / Medical travel insurance to cover your entire stay in Qatar

• Negative result of a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before your flight

Qatar requires tourism insurance that includes COVID-19 medical coverage from visitors of most nationalities. Your airline may ask to see this policy when checking in for your flight.

It’s also mandatory to register all foreigners’ details in the Ehteraz health tracking mobile app on arrival. You may need to take another COVID PCR test when landing at a Qatar airport.

Keep your passport and Qatar visa handy when going through immigration procedures and follow instructions from government officials and airport staff.

How Long Can Philippines Citizens Stay in Qatar?

Philippines citizens who enter Qatar on a tourist visa are permitted to remain for up to 30 days only. This is a single-entry visa valid from your date of entry and cannot be renewed or extended once you are in Qatar.

Overstaying beyond your permitted 30 days will lead to fines, blacklisting, detention, and deportation. Exit the country before the visa expiration date stamped in your passport upon arrival.

Those traveling to Qatar for work, business, or family visits can apply for longer term visas permitting stays for several months up to a year. Employment visas allow residence based on your work contract and position.

What Are the Rules and Customs in Qatar for Tourists?

While exploring this fascinating Gulf nation, Philippines visitors must respect the local laws, etiquette, traditions, and Islamic culture to avoid offending Qatari citizens. Key things to keep in mind are:

• Dress modestly in public places – shoulders and knees should be covered

• Displaying affection and intimacy in public is strictly forbidden

• Be respectful when photographing local people and ask permission

• Learn basic Arabic phrases and greetings

• Remove shoes before entering mosques and some museums

• Use your right hand only when eating or accepting gifts

• Avoid public discussions about politics and religion

• Do not consume pork or alcohol products outside of licensed venues

• Never use swear words or make insulting remarks

• Tread carefully when interacting with the opposite gender

Abiding by Qatar’s customs and regulations will allow Philippines tourists to stay safe and avoid misunderstandings. Use common sense and be culturally sensitive.

Exiting Qatar – Airport Tax and Departure Procedures

All visitors must pay a departure tax when leaving Qatar from the airport. This Qatar exit tax is currently QR 100 per person and must be paid in cash only in Qatari Riyals.

Have the exact QR 100 fare ready before proceeding to the immigration counters for your departing flight. Note that not paying or attempting to evade the exit fee constitutes a violation of Qatar’s laws.

At the end of your fabulous Qatar holiday, proceed through these steps to exit smoothly:

• Settle any pending bills at your hotel

• Check out of accommodation and arrange transport to the airport

• Clear immigration procedures and security checks

• Pay QR 100 airport tax at dedicated customs counters

• Request a tax receipt as proof of payment

• Locate your departure gate and enjoy duty-free shopping until boarding

If you already have an employer, they will apply for your appointment, but you can also schedule a visit on your own. Just go to the Qatar Visa Center website and book an appointment there. Information includes your appointment time, visa center address, category: normal, QVC entry time (15 minutes prior to your appointment time).

Don’t forget to print out the appointment letter, the one you processed on your own or the one your employer sent you through email.

You also need to bring your passport, extra money, medical certificates or receipts of your recent vaccinations, Educational Certificate like a diploma, preferably red ribbon authenticated. You also need to put these in a clear envelope plus a ballpen.

Be sure that your passport has at least 6 months before it will expire.

What Not To Bring

Try not to bring someone else, because they can’t enter the center anyway, unless they are willing to wait for around 4 hours. Don’t bring cellphones, cameras, USBs, travel bags. You can bring them and just stash them at the available lockers and baggage counters at the QVC.

Steps Upon Entering the QVC

First you will go to reception to show your appointment letter and passport. They will verify your identity. Here you have an option for VIP processing for a price of PhP 1,720. As a VIP you will be directed to a lounge where there is free food. You will also be prioritized in cues, and get your medical results in just two days. Normal customers get their results in 10-15 days.

At the reception, you will be given a ticket number. Proceed to the waiting area. When your number is flashed on the screen, go to the biometric data area. They will take fingerprints. Your contract details will be explained there as well, including your salary and benefits. They will ask if you agree with the contract and then you will sign it.

Next you will go back to the waiting area. Then you will be called to another counter where your fingerprints will be scanned again, your photo taken, and you will undergo iris detection. By this time, your Biometric data is completed.

Medical Examination

The Medical exam is powered by the Qatar Medical Center. After your Biometric Data is completed you will have to wait again to be called to another reception area where they will ask you if you’ve had any recent vaccinations. Bring your medical certificates or receipts if you have.

You will then be directed to a waiting area at the Medical section where you will receive a ticket and wait for your number to be flashed on the monitor again. You will be given a form for HIV test. You need to answer the questions in the form honestly. Some information required is sensitive but you need to be honest.

Your height, weight, temperature will be measured and you will also have an eye test. You will also have blood extraction for the HIV test. Then you will have a vaccination for measles and tetanus.

Next, you will consult with doctors. First, you will be sent to a room for a brief full body examination. Second, you will enter another room nearby for the x-ray.

If you did not avail of the VIP service, you will receive your results in 10 to 15 days. A customer service agent will call to inform you that the results are in. The agent will also tell you to do further checkups and consultations, referring you to certain hospitals, but this time you will have to pay for the expenses.

If no one calls, email QVC or one of the agents of your employer and tell them about your Fit to Work Status.

Other Important Matters

The Medical Exam results have a validity of 60 days. Once you receive the results, be sure you’ll be on your way to Qatar within 60 days, otherwise you will go back to square one.

Before you go to the QVC, be sure that you are in your healthiest condition. Take medicines if you need to, drink lots of water, sleep well the night before.

The QVC has made it much easier for Filipinos to work in Qatar. Perhaps, this is an indication that the government of Qatar recognizes the growing Filipino community in its nation and acknowledges its contribution to the welfare of society.

how to travel abroad ph

Filipinos travelling abroad should be aware of the latest rules and requirements, as these are subject to change. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, the Philippines implemented a ban on outbound travel for all except overseas workers, student visa holders, and permanent residents.

As of 2023, the basic requirements for international travel from the Philippines are a passport, a visa (if required by the destination country), a confirmed return or round-trip ticket, and proof of vaccination. However, it is important to check for any additional requirements, as these differ from country to country.

In the case of first-time travellers, it is recommended to arrive at the airport at least 2-4 hours before the scheduled departure time, as the process can be lengthy and involve a lot of queuing. It is also important to have all the necessary documents, such as a visa, return flight ticket, company ID, hotel booking, and address and contact details of the destination and the Philippine Embassy.

Additionally, travellers may be asked questions by immigration officers, such as the purpose and duration of the trip, occupation, and financial capacity to travel. It is important to answer these questions confidently, consistently, and truthfully.

When travelling abroad from the Philippines, there are several basic documents that you need to prepare. These include your passport, visa, and confirmed return or round-trip ticket. Here is a detailed guide on each of these essential travel documents:

The passport is a crucial document for international travel, serving as proof of your identity and citizenship. To obtain a Philippine passport, you must submit an application form and provide supporting documents, such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable), and valid government-issued IDs. It is important to ensure that your passport is up-to-date and valid for the duration of your trip.

A visa is an authorization granted by a foreign country, permitting a traveller to enter, remain within, or leave its territory. The type of visa you need depends on your purpose of travel, such as tourism, business, education, or immigration. For short-term visits to countries like the United States, you can apply online using Form DS-160. However, for immigrant visas, you need to visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website for relevant forms. Certain countries may also offer visa waivers or visa-free travel for Filipino citizens.

Confirmed Return or Round-Trip Ticket

When travelling abroad, it is essential to have a confirmed return or round-trip ticket. A round-trip ticket is a confirmed booking from the country you are visiting back to your country of origin. This is crucial for entering a new country, as it demonstrates your intention to return and can be required by immigration authorities. An onward ticket, on the other hand, is a booking from one country to another, which you may need if you plan to travel to multiple countries.

Remember to always verify the specific entry requirements for your destination country, as these may vary. By preparing your passport, visa, and confirmed return or round-trip ticket, you will be well on your way to a smooth and enjoyable international travel experience.

The requirements for traveling abroad are categorized into two: basic travel documents and supporting documents.

The following supporting documents may be asked of you, depending on your travel purpose, age, and other circumstances.

Supporting Documents for Self-Funded Trips

If you are funding your own trip, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • Proof of accommodation (e.g. hotel or hostel booking)
  • Proof of financial capacity or sources of income
  • Proof of employment (e.g. Certificate of Employment)

Supporting Documents for Trips Sponsored by First-Degree Relatives Abroad

If your trip is sponsored by first-degree relatives abroad (e.g. parents, spouse, or children), you will need to supply the following additional documents:

  • Original Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-issued birth certificate or marriage certificate that proves your relationship with the sponsor
  • Confirmed round-trip ticket
  • Copy of the sponsor's valid passport
  • Copy of the sponsor's work visa or permit or equivalent documents

Supporting Documents for Trips Sponsored by Other Relatives Abroad

If your sponsor abroad is a relative beyond the first degree, you will have to present these additional documents:

  • Notarized original Affidavit of Support and Guarantee (AOSG)
  • Original PSA-issued birth or marriage certificate

Supporting Documents for Those Traveling with a Local Sponsor

If your sponsor is a Filipino and is traveling with you, you will have to provide the following requirements:

  • Original and notarized AOSG
  • Proof of relationship
  • Copy of sponsor's return ticket (details should be consistent with the information in your ticket)

Supporting Documents for Trips Sponsored by a Non-Relative Abroad

If an unrelated individual or entity sponsors your trip, be ready with the following travel requirements:

  • Sponsor's registration documents, if the trip is a judicial entry

Supporting Documents for Minors Traveling Abroad

If a minor is traveling abroad, different supporting requirements apply, depending on the scenario. Here are some examples:

  • For married parents with the mother accompanying the minor: original PSA-issued birth certificate
  • For married parents with the mother not accompanying the minor: original PSA-issued birth certificate and marriage certificate
  • Requirements for minors subject to adoption: For adopted minors with an Order of Adoption Pending New PSA-Issued Birth Certificate: Travel authority for the adopted minor and adoptive parent/s issued by the National Authority for Child Care (NACC)

There are also instances when a trip requires Certificates of Clearance or Exemption from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Take note of the following DSWD requirements for minors traveling abroad:

  • The DSWD Travel Clearance Certificate (TCC) is required when: the parents are not married and the mother is not accompanying the minor; the minor is traveling with anyone other than their parents; the minor is above 13 years old and is traveling on their own; or the passenger is over 18 but didn’t have the capacity to fully care for or protect themselves due to certain conditions (physical and mental).
  • The DSWD Travel Clearance Certificate (TCC) may not be required when: the parents are not married and the father, who has the sole parental custody over the minor, is traveling with the minor; the minor is traveling with a legal guardian; the orphan of married parents is traveling with substitute parents; or the orphan of non-married parents is traveling with the closest maternal relative or substitute parents.

The Transformative Power of Foreign Travel: How Exploring New Cultures Changes You

The Philippine Government has transitioned from the old e-Arrival CARD Registration to a new e-Travel Registration, which can be accessed via a new portal. This registration is a mandatory requirement for arrival in the Philippines. The new platform has a user-friendly interface, and it is recommended that you fill out the registration within 72 hours prior to departure from your country of origin to avoid long lines at the airport. The e-Travel Registration is free of charge.

To register online, go to https://etravel.gov.ph. This is the only official website for e-Travel Registration, and you should be wary of fraudulent websites that charge fees for registration. The e-Travel Registration will be easier to fill out and will require less information than the previous e-Arrival CARD Registration.

Once you have completed your registration, you will be able to generate a QR code. A QR, or Quick Response, code is a two-dimensional barcode, typically made up of black and white pixel patterns. To generate a QR code, you can use a QR code generator, which will allow you to create a QR code that meets your specific needs. There are different types of QR codes, including URL, vCard, Plain Text, Email, SMS, Twitter, WiFi, and Bitcoin. You will need to enter the relevant information in the fields provided by the generator and then select "Generate." You can then download your QR code and choose to have a standard black and white design or select custom colours and frames.

Travel insurance is a type of insurance that covers financial losses associated with travelling. It can be purchased online, from a tour operator, or from other sources. The cost of travel insurance is usually between 4% to 10% of the trip's price. The price is based on the type of coverage, your age, destination, trip cost, and more.

Trip cancellation insurance is a pre-departure benefit that provides reimbursement for prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses if a trip is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Coverage limits vary by policy, but most plans will reimburse up to 100% of the trip costs if it needs to be cancelled for a covered reason. Covered reasons include unforeseen illness, injury, or death of the traveller or a travelling companion, terrorism, inclement weather, or natural disasters. It's important to note that trip cancellation insurance is not always necessary, especially if you don't have non-refundable trip costs or if you already have trip protection through other sources, such as a travel credit card.

Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) plans are similar to life insurance policies, where you would name a beneficiary who would receive the benefit in the event of your death or dismembering injury while travelling. AD&D plans can provide continuous 24/7 coverage or coverage specifically for flights. Different policies will cover different types of injuries, such as loss of speech and/or hearing, or loss of thumb and index finger on the same hand. The amount paid out will depend on the policy purchased and the extent of the injuries.

To travel abroad from the Philippines, you will need a few basic documents, including a passport, a visa (depending on your destination), a confirmed return or round-trip ticket, and a vaccination certificate.
