Panorama of the Upper Garden

At the heart of the Virtual Tour is a set of beautiful 360 degree panoramic images that you can fully control and view.

Tour every major room within the Mount Vernon Mansion, and see the upper garden, kitchen, the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington, and George Washington's Gristmill & Distillery.

Many of our panoramas were filmed in locations that are not always open to the public, giving you unparalleled access.

Engaging the Virtual Tour is easy. Just use your mouse, trackpad, or finger to move left or right and up or down. These motions will enable you to see ornate ceilings, original floorboards, and all around you, giving you an exciting, full-immersion experience.

Clickable Points of Interest

online mansion tours

Each of our virtual tour panoramas includes a number of clickable points of interest. These clickable points allow viewers to learn more about a variety of details which include artwork, objects, architectural elements, buildings, archaeological sites, furniture, plants, books, and more. Stories of human and historic interest are also connected to the viewable locations as well.

Each of our points of interest include images and text descriptions that bring topics vibrantly to life. By zooming in you can see the stunningly intricate details of paintings, sketches, and other fascinating objects.

And if you would prefer to travel through the panoramas without the displayed clickable points, you can click on the point's toggle to turn them on and off.

Videos from our Experts

online mansion tours

We have infused the Mount Vernon Virtual Tour with videos from our character interpreters, curators, and other Mount Vernon experts. Now you can have 24/7 access to those who know the most about the objects, architecture, and landscapes featured on the Tour.

Other videos, such as our hopper boy video found on the Gristmill Fourth Floor panorama, bring to life all of the intricacies of our fully-functioning gristmill - from the inter-working movement of the gears to the exciting sound of full production.

Appearing as dots, you will find these navigational points near doors and passageways that lead to nearby locations. Via these clickable navigation points you will be able to wander naturally - as you would if you were actually there.

Users who would like to move quickly from one point within the Virtual Tour to another can also use the menu that is found along the top of the desktop version of the Mount Vernon Virtual Tour.  Choose the section of the tour that you would like to engage and then click on the panorama of choice.

We have also included a mini-map display that can be viewed through the map icon at the bottom of the screen (desktop version). Once activated, you can see where you are located within the Tour. From here, you can also click on various points to go to another area of the Tour.

You Can Virtually Tour the Biltmore Estate

Explore America's largest home.

large biltmore mansion in Asheville

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, the Biltmore Estate is one of North Carolina's most popular tourist destinations—and one of the country's most iconic homes. During the holidays, the 8,000-acre estate is decorated with Christmas lights, thousands of ornaments, and dozens of fir trees. Year-round, the opulent mansion is worth exploring, boasting stunning architecture, antique furnishings, and lush gardens. Though the Biltmore Estate is currently closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, you can still virtually visit America's largest home right now.

The Biltmore estate is providing virtual tours of the mansion and the estate's blooming gardens. With clips of the estate and captions providing context, the video tours highlight the home's timeless architecture, landscape design, and mountainous views.

The first tour takes you throughout the mansion, describing its history and current features. Renowned architect Richard Morris Hunt designed the 250-room French Renaissance château for George and Edith Vanderbilt. After six years of construction, the home was completed in 1895. It comprises 35 bedrooms, 34 bathrooms, and a stunning 65 fireplaces. The virtual tour even gives you a peek into the basement, which has a bowling alley and a full-sized swimming pool.

On the second tour , you'll visit the estate's grand grounds and gardens, which were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who's best know for designing Central Park. Olmsted wanted to create formal gardens, naturalized areas, an arboretum and nursery, and a managed forest.

Virtual Treasure Book

This new enhancement was designed after the success of the original in-person Treasure Book that was created in 2015 for guests on tour while exploring the mansion. This is an eye-spy game intended to be used within the Glensheen Virtual Tour. The Virtual Treasure Book makes a virtual tour experience w ay more fun than most other Virtual Tours… which can get boring pretty quickly.  During the COVID-19 closure, the new Treasure Book is available as a free download to enhance the 360º virtual tour experience.

How do you use the Virtual Tour Treasure Book?

  • Download the Virtual Tour Treasure Book – HERE
  • Print it off (Be sure to select ‘fit to page’ in your print settings)
  • Go to Glensheen’s Virtual Tour
  • Use the Treasure Book as you guide yourself through the mansion

Glensheen App

Glensheen Mansion launched the tour app through the museum app company, Encurate, in 2019 to enhance the self-guided tour experience. With maps and audio descriptions for nearly every room, the app is a complementary tool to not only the General Admission in-person experience but now also, the Glensheen 360º virtual tour . Feeling a little stir crazy? The app and Glensheen 360º also allows you to explore the grounds and 12-acre estate.

Glensheen at Home Hack: We suggest viewing the 360º virtual tour on a desktop or laptop while using the Glensheen app on a smartphone. With a little bit of manual work, you can connect what you’re seeing on your computer with the descriptions you’re hearing from the app on your phone.

The Glensheen app is a free and available for download by searching “GLENSHEEN” in the Apple App Store and Google Play .

OTHER WAYS TO ENJOY GLENSHEEN VIRTUALLY

During the year of 2020 and quarantines, Glensheen has created various ways to enjoy Glensheen from the comfort of your couch. Download and print the Coloring Book or put together a digital Glensheen puzzle.

House Plans with 360 Virtual Tours

You've decided that you want to begin looking at house plans to build the house of your dreams, but you keep running into the same problem over and over. It's so difficult to visualize what your home will look like with just a few drawings of a plan and some blueprints. How can you get a better idea of what your nonexistent home will look like once it's built? Enter virtual house tours.

Looking at house plans with virtual tours before a house is even built offers many benefits that can significantly enhance home-building. Here's why:

  • Easier visualization. 3D virtual house tours provide a three-dimensional, immersive property perspective, allowing prospective homeowners to explore the planned layout in detail. This brings the flat, two-dimensional house plans to life, offering a better understanding of the rooms' size, spatial relationships, and flow.
  • Helps in decision-making. Through virtual tours, prospective you can make informed decisions about design aspects before construction begins. This includes the layout of rooms, placement of windows, or the flow between spaces. Seeing the house in 3D can highlight potential issues or improvements that may not be obvious from 2D plans.
  • Personalization of the space. Virtual house tours allow for property personalization even before construction starts. Users can visualize different finishes, colors, or furnishings, helping them to plan and personalize their future homes.
  • Cost and time savings. Catching potential design or layout challenges for your family through a virtual house tour might save time and money in the long run, as changes can be made before construction begins, avoiding costly adjustments during the build.

Virtual house tours provide a robust, interactive, and highly informative tool when looking at house plans. By offering an immersive view of the house before it's built, they aid in visualization, decision-making, personalization, and communication, potentially saving time and resources and increasing satisfaction with the final result.

360 virtual tours faq, what is the difference between a virtual tour and a 3d house plan.

Virtual tours and 3D house plans are valuable tools in real estate marketing and property development and have distinct characteristics and uses.

A virtual house tour provides an interactive, panoramic view of a property, allowing prospective buyers or renters to walk through a space visually. Depending on the complexity, a virtual tour might be a series of high-quality photographs or a 360-degree panoramic view.

The key aspect of a virtual house tour is that it depicts the property as it is, including the current decoration, furniture, finishes, and so forth . This realism helps potential buyers or renters get a feel for the property and visualize themselves living in it.

3D house plans, on the other hand, are a type of architectural drawing . They present a three-dimensional view of a property, typically showing the layout of the property without including details like furniture or decor unless it's precisely part of the design presentation.

3D house plans are particularly useful in construction and remodeling, helping builders, contractors, and homeowners understand and communicate the property's design. For potential buyers, a 3D house plan can clearly understand the property's layout, size, and flow.

The critical difference between a virtual house tour and a 3D house plan lies in their purpose and presentation. A virtual tour offers a realistic, interactive view of an existing property, helping viewers visualize the space as it is. In contrast, a 3D house plan provides a structural and spatial representation of a property, highlighting its architectural design and layout. While different, both tools can significantly assist in selling, buying, or renting a property.

What is a virtual tour of a house?

Virtual tours of a house can take various forms. At the basic level, they may consist of a series of professionally taken, high-definition photographs of a property's interior and exterior. These photographs are often arranged in a slideshow format to give the viewer a sense of moving through the property.

More advanced versions of virtual tours employ 360-degree panoramic images or even 3D walkthroughs, where users can navigate through the property as if they were there. This interactive exploration of virtual house plans allows viewers to get a comprehensive view of the space, including its layout and unique features.

Users may even interact with the 3D space in the most sophisticated virtual tours. For instance, they might be able to open doors, turn lights on and off, or manipulate furniture. This high level of interactivity provides a very immersive experience and can significantly aid in the decision-making process for prospective buyers or renters.

Do virtual tours help people buy houses?

Yes, virtual tours are an influential tool to help people buy houses. There are several ways in which virtual tours can help people buy homes.

  • House plans with virtual tours provide a comprehensive view of the property. High-definition photos, 360-degree panoramas, or 3D walkthroughs allow potential builders or buyers to inspect every corner of the house at their convenience. This level of detailed visual information can significantly aid decision-making, even before a physical viewing is arranged.
  • Virtual tours save time and money. People can explore numerous homes from the comfort of their living room rather than traveling to multiple properties, which can be especially difficult for out-of-town or international buyers. This reduces travel expenses and allows potential buyers to narrow their list of prospective homes effectively.
  • Virtual tours' immersive nature helps buyers envision themselves in the home. This is particularly true for interactive 3D virtual house tours, where users can "walk" through the property and manipulate elements within the space. The more a person can visualize living in a house, the more likely they are to consider purchasing it.
  • House plans with virtual walkthroughs allow for 24/7 property viewing. Potential buyers aren't limited by traditional open house hours or realtor availability. They can explore the property anytime they wish, as many times as they want, leading to a more profound familiarity with the house and, eventually, more confident buying decisions.

How do virtual house tours work?

Virtual house tours work through a combination of modern technology, like digital photography, videography, and software for 3D modeling and virtual reality. They provide a detailed, interactive, and immersive view of a property, allowing potential buyers or renters to explore it remotely. Here's a general process of how virtual house tours work:

  • Photography and Videography. The process begins by capturing high-quality photos or videos of the property. A series of photos may be sufficient for a simple virtual house plans tour. For a more advanced 360-degree panorama or 3D walkthrough, special equipment like a 360-degree camera or a 3D camera may be needed. These devices capture images in all directions, creating a complete view of each room.
  • Image Processing. After capturing the images, they are processed using special software. If a 360-degree tour or a 3D model is being created, the software stitches together the photos to create a seamless panoramic or 3D image. Some software can even generate a 3D model of the property based on 2D images, though more advanced tours may use dedicated 3D scanning devices.
  • Interactive Elements. Depending on the complexity of the tour, interactive elements might be added. For example, in 3D virtual house tours, viewers may "move" through the property by clicking on different areas of the image. Some tours might also allow viewers to interact with elements in the home, like opening doors or turning lights on and off.
  • Additional Information. Once the main visual elements of the tour are ready, further information can be added. This might include text descriptions, voiceovers, floor plans, or information about local amenities. This gives viewers a more complete understanding of the property.
  • Online Hosting. The final virtual tour is hosted online on the real estate agency's website, a property listing site, or a dedicated virtual tour platform. The tour is usually embedded in a webpage and can be viewed using a web browser. Some tours might also be compatible with virtual reality headsets for an even more immersive experience!

What are the benefits of 360 virtual tours?

  • 360-degree virtual tours offer many benefits, transforming how properties are marketed and explored. They provide a realistic, immersive experience, allowing users to explore a space as if they were physically present. Here are some significant benefits of 360-degree virtual tours:
  • Enhanced imaging. Unlike static images, 360-degree tours allow viewers to look in all directions: up, down, and around. They provide a complete view of rooms and spaces, giving potential buyers or builders a realistic feel for the layout and size of the property.
  • Increased engagement. 360-degree tours are interactive, allowing users to control their property exploration. This engagement can lead to potential buyers or renters spending more time on the property's listing, increasing their interest and likelihood of taking further action.
  • Convenience and accessibility. House plans with virtual walkthroughs can be accessed anytime, anywhere, and on any device with an internet connection. This makes it easy for out-of-town or international prospects to view the property or plan, expanding the potential market.
  • Time and effort savings. By providing a comprehensive view of a property, 360-degree 3D virtual house tours can help potential buyers or renters decide whether the property meets their needs before arranging a physical viewing. This can save the realtor and the potential buyer significant time and resources.

“Why would anyone want to build a home in Northern Wisconsin with a builder from Waukesha County? You wouldn’t want to unless it was with Rod Demlang of Demlang Builders. Rod and his wife Colleen were the perfect pair for us through the planning process. The rest of the staff only complimented them. They listened, explained options, and helped design a home we were all excited about. Would we recommend Demlang home builders … in a heartbeat!!”

“We’ve recently moved into our first build and Demlang home. They made the process as painless as possible and were incredibly helpful and kind throughout. The quality of work in a Demlang home is far superior than any other builder out there. Not only do you get more for your money with Demlang, the quality is always their top priority. You will not regret going with Demlang for your builder.”

“The entire team at Demlang is fantastic to work with and truly understands the building process! If I were to build again they would be on the top of my list!”

“We built The Brooklyn and cannot say enough good things about our experience with Demlang! Colleen, Martha, and Jason were always just a phone call away. We especially liked all the subcontractors they used. They all were amazing and spoke VERY highly of working for Demlang. If you’re contemplating building a house and need a builder, definitely check out Demlang. I would highly recommend them without a doubt! Beautiful homes, beautiful quality, great people to work with!”

“ After sitting on our lot for 4 years, my wife and I decided to build with Demlang and so happy we did!  We love our new home and everything it gives us.  It was great working with Rod, Colleen, Ryan, and the rest of the Demlang team.”

“ Demlang Builders helped make our dream home a reality. Communication was good and use of BuilderTrend was very helpful to see what was happening and when.  It was also nice to be able to make all of our selections in the Demlang office vs. running around and visiting numerous places.”

“ My wife and I just loved our house! Demlang doesn’t cut corners everything has been perfect. A-lot of people worked on the house, we appreciate that. “

“ There is real comfort knowing that the builder you chose is honest and is going to build you exactly the home you paid for and designed. If you’re fortunate enough to be building a new home I strongly recommend Demlang Builders. There is great value in knowing that the builder you chose is excellent at their craft and true to their contracts. They absolutely can build you a home you will love . “

“ The team at Demlang really listened to our needs and desires, and kept us well informed throughout the entire building process. Demlang made the building process as simple and seamless as possible. We are very proud of our new home! “

So if you’re in the market for a mansion but don’t want to pay a fortune, scroll down and see how far your money can go. These five mansions are all on the market at prices that won’t break the bank.

Take a look.

1. 710 N Lafayette St, Shelby, NC

Price: $775,000

Colossal Colonial: The Historic James Heyword Hull House was built in 1840 as a grand mansion. It’s been on the market since late 2022, and the price was cut by $25,000 last October.

Over the decades, it’s morphed into a personal family residence on the main floor, with three rental units upstairs, and a small, separate rental unit in back. A new owner could convert the place back into a magnificent single-family dwelling or simply continue the rental revenue.

The 6,422-square-foot space has eight bedrooms and seven baths. Recent renovations include refinished hardwood floors, plumbing and electrical updates, and new central HVAC. It sits on a 1.4-acre lot and is within walking distance of downtown Shelby .

But there could be more. The third floor has 1,500 square feet of unfinished attic with a cathedral ceiling, stained-glass windows, and an open floor plan that could be turned into additional bedrooms. If the attic was completed, the home would total roughly 9,000 finished square feet.

To easily accommodate family and guests, there are laundry rooms on each floor. Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

We had a very good feeling about this. May the 4th be with you, America. pic.twitter.com/uZVS5qHkcG — President Biden (@POTUS) May 4, 2024

He’s from a galaxy far, far away.

President Biden shared a Star Wars Day clip to X Saturday, featuring a celestial White House visitor — which was quickly ripped by social media users as lame.

“May the 4th be with you,” the Commander-in-Chief bellowed as he solemnly stared into the camera.

That’s when Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill swooped into the frame to deliver a pointed: “Always.”

Biden and Hamill in the post.

The serious pair stood chest to chest, leaving just enough room between them for the portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt hanging on the Oval Office wall to stare down at their tomfoolery.

The five-second clip garnered 4.8 million views within hours of being posted — and racked up plenty of replies ridiculing the duo.

“A dementia patient and a homeless drunk,” comedian Tim Young taunted.

“The most hilarious thing is that Joe is in Delaware right now and has already forgotten he said this,” wrote conservative account Black Suit.

Another user wrote: “The national embarrassment continues.”

Actor Mark Hamill joins White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at the daily press briefing at the White House on May 03, 2024 in Washington, DC.

The video was shared just one day after Hamill, 72, made a surprise visit to the White House press room wearing a pair of aviator shades he said the president had gifted him.

He claimed he just ended a visit with Biden — presumably when they pair shot the awkward clip.

Actor Mark Hamill takes off sunglasses given to him by President Joe Biden.

“He said, ‘You can call me Joe,’” the actor recounted.

“And I said, ‘Can I call you  Joe-bi-Won Kenobi? ‘ And he liked that.”

The actor has been an outspoken backer of both Biden and Israel amid widespread protests and riots on college campuses opposed to the president’s support for the Jewish state’s ongoing invasion of the Gaza Strip targeting the Hamas terror organization.

Hamill used his time at the White House presser to gush about Biden’s performance — as polls show the president with a dismal average approval rating of  40.1%  as he seeks re-election in November, dragged down by what polls show is broad frustration over high inflation and illegal immigration.

Former President Donald Trump talks about immigration, economy in Waukesha: recap of Wednesday's rally

Former President Donald Trump was in Waukesha Wednesday for his second rally of the presidential campaign in Wisconsin, speaking at the Waukesha County Expo Center.

Trump's visit comes off the heels of the latest Marquette University Law School poll, which showed him with a two-percentage point lead over President Joe Biden, well within the margin of error. Wisconsin is one of just a handful of contested states that will  decide the next presidential election .

Trump was last in Wisconsin on April 2, when he held a rally in Green Bay . The Waukesha rally is Trump's first campaign event since the start of his hush money trial in Manhattan.

Here's a recap of the day's events:

Immigration, economy major focus of Trump's speech

Similar to his rally in Green Bay, Trump used his speech to criticize Biden on his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, calling it "the worst border in the history of the world."

"Biden came in and unleashed mayhem on our economy, just like he unleashed mayhem on our border," Trump said. "They have people flowing in from the poorest and the heaviest-crime countries all over the world."

In the latest Marquette University Law School poll , Wisconsin voters considered Trump better than Biden at handling immigration and border security, plus the economy, Israel-Hamas war and foreign relations. Biden had the lead on health care, abortion policy and Medicare and Social Security.

Voters overall ranked the economy as their top issue, with 33% saying it would be most important for deciding who to vote for. Immigration and border security was the second, with 21% citing that issue.

More: Takeaways from Donald Trump's Wisconsin rally: economy, immigration, early voting

Democrats focus on abortion policy in response

In response to Trump's visit, Democrats focused on abortion access, a key message that they've delivered at Biden campaign events.

"Trump’s abortion bans are wreaking havoc across the country — something he called “incredible” today — and he’s fine with it. Because it’s all about him, not Wisconsin, and not America," said Brianna Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Biden-Harris campaign in Wisconsin.

"As president, Donald Trump delivered less jobs and paved the way for extreme abortion bans across America. His next term could be worse: more bans, more suffering, and higher costs."

Trump briefly addressed abortion in his speech, repeating his position that abortion is best left up to the states. In an interview before his remarks, he declined to weigh in on whether the state Supreme Court should uphold a lower court's ruling restoring abortion access in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin chairman of Republican Party will continue promoting early voting

Republican Party of Wisconsin chairman Brian Schimming told reporters he will continue promoting early voting.

“The Republican National Committee will continue to do that, and so will the president,” Schimming said.

Trump has sent mixed messages on early voting, but has recently shifted his tone. Following the 2020 election, Trump sought to throw out ballots cast in-person absentee in Milwaukee and Dane counties.

Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow also asked the crowd to vote early.

“We are going to get hammered by out-of-state money," Farrow said. "They’re going to flood every single election that we have. If we get out and vote early, that means our dollars can be targeted to those who haven’t voted yet.”

Staunch Trump ally Mike Lindell splits off over early voting stance

One of Trump’s staunchest allies Wednesday split from the former president on a key issue to the 2024 election cycle: early voting.

Mike Lindell, a pillow manufacturer and one of the most prominent purveyors of Trump’s false election claims, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he didn't support the former president’s recent about-face on absentee voting.

“I’m 100% against voting early. I always will be," Lindell said. "It’s harder for (Democrats) to cheat with same-day voting."

Trump has long encouraged supporters to abstain from voting absentee and sought to throw out all in-person absentee ballots cast in the two most populous Wisconsin counties during the 2020 election. But Republicans have persuaded Trump to change his stance on the voting option to encourage GOP voters to maximize their voting power.

Lindell, who was meeting with rally attendees Wednesday outside of the Waukesha County Expo Center, also promoted the recall of Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, who has become a target of Trump and his allies over his unwillingness to take steps to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss.

“Robin Vos has to go,” Lindell said. “Vos is the most toxic politician I’ve ever come across.”

— Claudia Levens and Molly Beck

Supporters begin filing into venue for Trump rally

Supporters are slowly beginning to filter in to the Waukesha County Expo Center, where Trump is set to take the stage at 2 p.m.

A large crowd waited outside the expo center long before doors opened, forming a line that snaked through part of the parking lot.

Vendors sell Trump merchandise outside rally

Steven Reid, 38, of Tennessee wound through the line of Trump supporters before the doors opened Wednesday trying to sell merchandise.

On his cart were hats, keychains, bracelets and more. He said many people already seemed to have hats, though.

“Sometimes they buy stuff and sometimes they don’t,” said Reid, who said he travels the country selling merchandise at Trump rallies.

Biden campaign slams Trump for 'harmful' working-class policies

Ahead of Trump’s visit to Waukesha, the Biden campaign slammed Trump for his backing of policies the Biden campaign characterizes as being harmful to “working people here in Wisconsin,” citing tax cuts for corporations and the nation’s wealthiest residents.

“Wisconsinites can’t continue to pay the price while Trump only looks out for himself and his rich donors,” Biden’s Wisconsin communications director Brianna Johnson said in a statement.

“Enough is enough. Wisconsinites are throwing their support behind President Biden because his focus is on empowering American workers. He oversaw the fastest rate of union growth in Wisconsin in the last 30 years, became the first sitting president to join a picket line, and just last week announced plans to put more money in workers’ pockets by getting them the overtime pay they deserve."

— Molly Beck

Milwaukee protest organizers denounce Trump visit

On the Southside of Milwaukee, organizers and supporters for Voces De La Frontera gathered as they had for nearly 20 years to march for immigrant rights. But Trump’s visit to Waukesha was not ignored by organizers.

“You are not welcome in Wisconsin,” said Christine Neumann Ortiz, executive director for Voces. “You are the real threat to democracy. You orchestrated a failed coup with your corrupt followers and white supremacists. and we reject your racist platform, that promises, dictatorship, military-style mass, deportation, and family separation.“

And while Trump’s visit gathered attention from organizers, so did the protest encampments at UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee. Students on those campuses and others around the country have been organizing demonstrations against their universities' involvement with the Israeli government and its action against Palestinians in Gaza.

Omar Flores, co-chair for the Coalition to March on the RNC, said the police response to the encampments 'will inform us of how they will treat us during the RNC.'

“The city of Milwaukee and nearby municipalities plan to roll out the red carpet for the Republicans and their hateful agenda, and the residents will do everything they can to reject hate in our communities,” Flores said.

But the Biden administration received some criticism from activists for its backing of Israel in its conflict with Palestinians.

“We see that the US government found $26 billion to finance Israel’s bombardment and destruction of Gaza over 30 hospitals and can’t find the funds to keep maternity wards here in Milwaukee open,” said Dr. Roa Qato, gynecologist and co-leader of the Milwaukee Chapter of Healthcare Workers for Palestine.

“We see families under Biden, and under Trump, struggling to make ends meet and to be able to pay for necessary medical supplies and medication.”

— Ricardo Torres

Crowd gets to Trump rally in Waukesha early

Bil Aldrich, 51, of DeForest pulled up to the rally before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in a truck flying a Trump 2020 flag that he said he keeps up even when he's not at an event.

He said he goes to every Trump rally he can, and this is his sixth since October 2020.

“They’re fun, great people,” he said. “Every stranger is a better friend than some of my closest family.”

He called Trump “honest to a fault” and said the criminal charges he's facing are “show trials.”

“They’re BS, but he’ll prevail one way or another, even if he ends up running the country from jail,” Aldrich said.

Trump under gag order about Stormy Daniels trial

Trump is taking advantage of a rare mid-week day out of a New York courtroom where he's on trial for allegedly paying off a porn star to be quiet about a past sexual relationship during his first campaign for president.

But Trump faces potential jail time if he again violates a gag order he's under as part of the court proceeding, making it unlikely he'll mention the case in Waukesha.

Trump was fined after he posted on his social media site Truth Social about potential witnesses in the case, including his former attorney, Michael Cohen, and the porn star at the center of the case, Stormy Daniels.

New York Judge Juan Merchan fined Trump $10,000 for the posts, which he deemed a violation of the gag order, and said Trump should be able to campaign freely and defend himself against political attacks but that he not willfully violate the court’s orders.

“If necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, (the court) will impose an incarceratory punishment,” Merchan wrote.

Where is Donald Trump speaking Wednesday?

Trump is holding his rally at the Waukesha County Expo Center, where he speak at around 2 p.m.

The same expo center was used in early March when first lady Jill Biden rallied a crowd of mostly women voters around abortion and health care.

In 2020 , Trump won Waukesha County with about 60% of the vote, compared to Biden's 39%. Margins of victory for Republican presidential candidates in the county have dropped from 35 points in 2012 to 27 in 2016 to 21 in 2020.

What will Donald Trump talk about in Wisconsin on Wednesday?

Trump will "contrast the peace, prosperity and security of his first term with Joe Biden’s failed presidency," his campaign said.

At his Green Bay rally, Trump tore into Biden over his administration's handling of immigration issues at the southern border. The Marquette poll showed Wisconsin voters see Trump better at handling immigration and border security.

Trump also promised to keep Social Security intact if reelected. In that same poll, voters said Biden would do a better job of handling Medicare and Social Security.

Trump also repeated false claims that he won the 2020 election in Wisconsin. Biden won Wisconsin by about 21,000 votes in 2020, a defeat that was key to Trump's reelection loss that year.
