Itinerary details.

Our representative from Himalayan trekkers will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel at Thamel. After brief rest, we head for sightseeing Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Bhaktapur is very famous for curd name Juju Dhau( king of curd) along with ancient arts and architecture. Pretty much occupied by the Newari ethnic group and has lots of temples. We will explore the surrounding until you are satisfied.

After a warm breakfast, we start the (6-7 Hrs / 200km) drive to Pokhara. We will make a few stops in between as there are lots of vantage points to capture photographs. Following the Trishuli river, crossing small and simple villages along the Prithvi Highway - we make it to Pokhara. In the evening, we stroll around the lakeside or depending on the time to reach Pokhara, we might do boating in the Phewa lake.

Early in the morning, we leave the hotel for Sarangkot - a Hill Station that showcases the ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri to catch the amazing panoramic sunrise views. Enjoying the landmark for some time, we head back to the city for breakfast.

After some time, we make our way to the Davis Fall, a unique waterfall that directly flows into a narrow and deep canal having no end. We visit the famous International Mountain Museum (IMM) & also tour the Tibetan settlement camp and Seti gorge.

We will next indulge in boating in Phewa Lake (if not done in the previous day) and may visit Barahi Temple in the middle of the Lake (depending upon your interest).

Today after breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu the same way. We advise you to travel by air if you want more activities in Pokhara or Kathmandu as it saves a whole day. The highway is good for one way travel as the road conditions are not any near to what you are used to with. Going down for experience once is nice but the later is up to you.

After arrival in Kathmandu, we visit the Pashupatinath temple, Boudhnath Stupa and Swayambhunath Temple. All these places are of great historical significance.

Today early morning after breakfast, we stroll around Thamel and explore the surrounding. Ason, Indrachowk, Kathey Swayambhu, and a walking tour to the Kathmandu Durbar Square will be our place of interest. Later on your scheduled time, we will drop you to the airport.

What people love about Nepal Tours

The tour was great! I was picked up at the airport on time and was taken to a lovely hotel. During my trekking I became ill and had to go back to Kathmandu via helicopter and they did everything to help me book new tours so that my trip could continue.
I had an absolutely brilliant time on the Everest View Trek. The scenery was truly stunning, and the accommodations were very comfortable throughout the journey. The local Sherpas were simply amazing, and their presence added greatly to the overall experience. I couldn't have asked for a better trekking adventure!
Our friends recommended this company then we booked this trip from Kathmandu. Management was well. Accommodation, vehicle service, and guide were also perfect, and pick-up was dropped off on time. Thank you

G Adventures

"They support animal cruelty! Our guide was excellent - however they offer camel rides, where the camels are in bad shape and mistreated and shows where they “magician’ use live animals, such as pigeons in a show in Pushkar. This is absolutely cruel and I cannot recommend a tour that uses animals for entertainment and claim it is not cruel. I really hope they will reconsider the animal options..

In this time Nepalese people celebrate their major festivals of Dashain and Tihar (Dipawali). This is the peak season of tourist arrivals in Nepal.

Shoulder (From Mar to May)

This period is the second-best time to visit and trek Nepal. This time is spring. The temperature is mildly warm in low lands while moderate in higher altitudes with plenty of opportunities to have encountered with the mountain views. It is also the time for a rhododendron flower to blossom, the national flower of Nepal, which sweeps the ascending altitudes with its magnanimous color and beauty.

Low Season (From Dec to Feb) and (From Jun to mid-Sep)

The tourist flow decreases a little, but not significantly in low season. During winter time (from Dec to Feb) the morning and night are cold and the days are warm when sunny. There might be occasional snowfall at higher elevations.

Food and drinks in Nepal?

Usual Nepali food is plain and simple, not very spicy, but full of flavors. The restaurants in popular travel destinations of Nepal offer varied of cuisines like Continental, American, Indian, Chinese, including traditional Nepali food.

Must Try Food

Dal Bhat Tarkari: This is the stable Nepalese food and favorite dish of many travelers.  It is served with thick lentil soup (dal), with rice (Bhat) and vegetable curry (Tarkari). Pickles (Achar) spice up this dish and sometimes it will be served with curd or yogurt, and meat (‘masu’), usually chicken or mutton.

The Newars, the indigenous group of the Kathmandu Valley, have their own much more exotic and varied cuisines. They use spices in a much more creative way, with a wide range of spicy dishes which are delicious.

Momo, Tibetan food which is less spicy, that you can find everywhere. These are small dumplings filled with meat or vegetable, usually steamed or fried.

For dessert, there are many sticky sweets usually made from milk and curd. The curd is widely available.

Vegetarians are well catered in Nepal. Many Hindu and Buddhist Nepalese are vegetarian.

Please also visit the page  Cuisines of Nepal .

Bottled water (Pani) can be found in most places. Request to avoid drinking the water unless it has been boiled or filtered, since tap water is not drinkable.

Chang is a local mild beer made from millet or rice. It is the home brew and made with local water.

Raksi is traditional distilled liquor usually made from millet, wheat or corn, and sometimes rice.

Nepali tea or masala tea is a special tea with spices like cinnamon added, that gives a brilliant flavor. Local normal tea is with milk and already added sugar.

Coke, Fanta, Pepsi, and other locally produced soft drinks are widely available. Slice is a delicious mango juice and Dew is a local soft drink which tastes a bit like Sprite.

Lassi is a curd based popular drink which may be either savory or sweet.

Electricity in Nepal?

Electricity in Nepal is produced by hydroelectric dams. The output voltage from the wall outlet is 220V AC and frequency is between 50-60Hz. People visiting from countries using different voltage and frequency should make sure that their adapter/charger is capable of operating in this range. For example, the United States uses about 120V AC and some electronic devices might be designed to operate in that voltage only. Likewise, the standard Nepalese electrical outlet is the Type D (three round-pronged triangles) outlet common to India, but nearly all will accept Euro plugs, and some have been retrofitted to accept American and/or British plugs. Simple adapters can be purchased inexpensively, around NPR80, in Kathmandu to change the shape of the plug (but not the voltage of the electricity).

Are there ATM facilities in Nepal?

ATM machines can be found in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and other larger towns, but not in smaller places. Outside these places, in general, credit cards are not widely accepted and every time payment is processed using the paper slips, often with an additional charge of 3-4%. In Nepal the money withdraws through ATM Machines is in Nepalese currency (NPR) only.

Internet/ Telephone/ Postal Service in Nepal?

All the major cities have internet access either in hotels or internet cafes. In smaller places/ villages, you are unlikely to find the internet, though at places like Manang, Namche Bazaar and at Tengboche, you can access the internet (satellite connection). Expect connection speeds to be slow.

In Kathmandu and most of the tourist places, there are many ‘communication centers’ where you can call, send faxes and emails. A few places have internet phone services that are much cheaper.

It is easy to get a Nepali SIM card in Kathmandu or Pokhara (bring a photocopy of your passport and two passport photos).

Global roaming agreements exist with some international phone companies. Check with your provider before leaving home if you wish to access roaming.

When posting mail to international addresses, it is best to leave your mail at the post office rather than in a post box. In Kathmandu, some bookshops sell stamps and will take your post to the post office for you. Most hotels can also help you post your mail.

What sort of clothing should I bring with me?

Clothing depends on place and time. Medium-weight and easy to wash cotton can be a good choice year-round in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and most other towns. It is recommended that between October to February, woolen sweaters, jackets or similar other warm outfits are necessary. From March through May, light clothing such as short and long-sleeved shorts will do perfectly fine. For months from June to August, it is recommended that you bring an umbrella or raincoat and a pair of sandals with you as these months are the rainy months of Nepal.

If you intend to go for trekking, a pair of hiking boots will be great. Bring warm clothes with plenty of woolen socks too. Specialized trekking gear is easily available and can be rented in fairly inexpensive charge in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Do you have Airport pickup facilities?

Yes, we do have airport pick up facilities for our customers who have booked with us for any travel/ trekking packages. We don’t charge them any money. To get this facility you have to inform us at the time you book your trip.

Kathmandu and Pokhara Exploration

Planning a trip to Nepal? You can’t miss out on the major destinations; Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and a fascinating city to explore with a rich history and culture. You will be mesmerised by the towering temples, majestic stupas, and historically important Durbar Squares listed in the World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, such as Pashupatinath Temple , Swayambhunath Stupa , Boudhanath Stupa , and Kathmandu Durbar Square . Also, a little bit on the outskirts of the city, Chandragiri Hills, offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley, and you will also get blessings from the sacred temple at the top. Apart from the sightseeing, you can explore a maze of narrow streets in Thamel , lined with colourful shops selling everything from handcrafted souvenirs to prayer wheels.

Pokhara , on the other hand, is a scenic city at the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain Range. You will visit the religious sites seamlessly blending with the natural beauties of the city, such as Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave , Bindhyabasini Temple , Taal Barahi Temple, Phewa Lake, and Sarangkot . In addition to the sightseeing attractions, Pokhara offers a plethora of adventure activities, such as paragliding, ultralight flights, and zip flyer allowing you to experience the Himalayas from a whole new perspective. This journey to Nepal, encompassing the exploration of Kathmandu and Pokhara, is an opportunity to discover the blend of cultural richness with the awe inspiring natural beauty of Nepal.

Scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

A flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is truly an unforgettable experience if the weather is clear. The 30-minute flight takes you soaring over the Himalayan foothills. Gaze out the window, and you will witness the majestic Himalayas unfold beneath you. You will spot iconic peaks like Everest, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri , their snow capped summits piercing the clear blue sky. As you approach Pokhara, the flight typically takes you close to the Annapurna mountain range. This allows you to enjoy stunning close-up views of peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna II, and Macchapucchre. This aerial journey is more than just a way to get from Kathmandu to Pokhara; it's a front-row seat to a masterpiece sculpted by nature. It showcases Nepal’s natural beauty from a unique aerial perspective. While descending towards Pokhara, the glistening Phewa Lake reflects the snow capped peaks, creating a mirrored image of this paradise. Above all, it is time saving compared to the drive, letting you fully experience the wonders of Pokhara even within this short time.

Sarangkot Hill Station

High in Nepal’s embrace, amidst the Himalayas, lies Sarangkot . This serene hill station isn’t just any viewpoint. It's a throne for witnessing the earth’s grand awakening. The viewing platform is a shared space filled with curious faces looking at the eye-catching view. Be prepared for an early morning wake up call on the 4th day. Sunrise times vary depending on the season, but expect to start your journey well before dawn. As the darkness fades, you’ll be part of the sky transforming with a mix of different colours. The snow capped peaks will gradually come into view, catching the first rays of sunlight. You will witness the majestic Annapurna range bathed in the golden hues of the rising sun. The iconic Mount Machhapuchhre will likely steal the show with its dramatic silhouette. This whole experience of the Sarangkot sunrise is not merely a visual spectacle but immersing yourself in the serenity and majesty of nature, fostering a deep connection with the Himalayas, and leaving an indelible mark of awe and appreciation towards the beauty of Pokhara.

Adventure Activities in Pokhara

With an array of thrilling adventure activities, find your match in the adrenaline fueled journey through the stunning landscapes of Pokhara, also known as the adventure hub of Nepal. Nepal is a haven for adventure junkies, offering a range of adventure options, especially in Pokhara. You can choose to participate in different adventure activities such as paragliding, ultralight flights, and zip flyer in Pokhara. It is an optional activity; however, you will get enough time if you’re interested in participating in:

Paragliding

It is a popular adventure activity in Pokhara. The time duration is about 30 minutes, which takes you to the maximum elevation of about 1592 metres. Pokhara offers some of the most iconic Himalaya views in the world, including the majestic Machhapuchre and the Annapurna range. From your paragliding vantage point, you’ll witness these giants standing proud and tall along with the Pokhara valley view.

Ultralight Flight

Ultralight flight is another aerial activity to do in Pokhara. It can be done in 15-90 minutes, according to your interest. Unlike paragliding, ultralight flights offer a more enclosed cockpit experience, providing a sense of safety while still offering stunning, even closer, panoramic views of the snow capped peaks.

The Zip flyer in Pokhara, located exactly at Sarangkot, is considered the longest, steepest, and fastest zipline in the world, with a total length of 1850 metres and a vertical drop of over 600 metres. It is an exhilarating experience that starts at an elevation of 1650 metres and descends to 960 metres. Zipping at a speed of 100km/h you will be overwhelmed by the stunning views of the Annapurna range, Mount Machhapuchhre, and the Seti River.

Note: The above mentioned adventure activities are optional, which means one needs to pay separately for the activities done.

With its panoramic views of the Himalayas, Pokhara creates unforgettable moments for travellers seeking adventure, from the heights of paragliding to the speed of the zipflyer.

Chandragiri Hills is a popular hill station located in the Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2551 metres, offering stunning mountain and valley views. Mountains from Annapurna to Everest can be seen from here. At the top is Bhaleshwar Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This site also features cafes, restaurants, local shops, and a kind of playing section.

Believed to be the oldest Buddhist shrine in Nepal, the history of the Swayambhunath Stupa dates back 2500 years. Also known as a Monkey temple , it is a hilltop pilgrimage site surrounded by smaller temples, stupas, and monasteries. This site shows the perfect harmony of Hindu and Buddhist religions with the combination of Buddhist stupas and Hindu shrines.

Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world, attracting visitors for its religious and spiritual significance. Around the base of the stupa, you’ll find 108 small niches housing statues of the Dhyani Buddha Amitabha, representing the different stages of enlightenment. It is a sacred place for both Tibetan Buddhists and locals.

Kathmandu Durbar Square , the ancient site that was once the royal palace of the Malla kings, showcases the city’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. It is surrounded by palaces, temples, courtyards, and statues, with the centerpiece, Hanuman Dhoka, displaying Newari architecture and craftsmanship. Besides that, other heritage sites such as Kumari Ghar (Living Goddess), Kasthamandap, Jagannath Temple, and Taleju Temple make the square attractive. Kathmandu and Pokhara are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and is known for its rich cultural heritage, ancient temples, and bustling city life. Pokhara, on the other hand, is a scenic city located on the banks of Phewa Lake and is surrounded by the Annapurna mountain range.

Other popular attractions in Kathmandu include the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, the Pashupatinath Temple, and the Boudhanath Stupa.

After exploring the cultural and historical sites of Kathmandu, the tour moves on to Pokhara, where visitors can enjoy scenic views of the mountains, go boating on Phewa Lake, and visit the World Peace Pagoda. Overall, a Kathmandu and Pokhara tour offers a unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty, making it an unforgettable experience for travelers.

Pokhara may not seem far from Kathmandu (the cities are only 126 miles / 204 km apart), but the Nepali terrain and road quality make for a very long drive. That’s why many travelers opt to choose fly.

Where to visit If you only have 4 nights, 5 days in Nepal ? It might be a common question for short time travelers while planning Nepal itinerary. The answer is either you will explore some of the iconic world heritage sites in Kathmandu and probably quick sightseeing around Pokhara and Nagarkot. Or short hiking around Pokhara and Kathmandu if you are hiking enthusiastic.

When travelers imagine Nepal, they would think of the Himalayas and the old civilization from ancient history. In the last post, we talked about 3 days of Nepal itinerary . However, If you have 5 days, you may have little more flexibility and options compear to the 3 days itinerary.

4 Night 5 Days Itinerary in City And Hill Station

The only international airport in Nepal is in Kathmandu. So, your journey begins to and from here. As Kathmandu city is tiny, the activities you do around also depends on what time you arrive and depart. For example, If you arrive early in the morning, you can start the tour around Kathmandu stright from the airport on your first day. Or if your departure flight is late in the afternoon, you can begin the sightseeing early in the morning and have it dropped in the airport on your departure day.

  • Here is the Detailed Itinerary

Things to see in Kathmandu City Tour Map

Day 03 : Early Sarangkot Himalayas sunrise tour and Paragliding options. Boating in the Phewa Lake, hike around the lake, local market, shopping, and free day in the afternoon is the way to enjoy the Pokhara tour . In a way to say, Sarangkot sunrise is something no one would miss while traveling Pokhara. The early morning drive will let you experience the views of Himalayas from Sarangkot while in the afternoon, you will visit some of the iconic attractions in Pokhara. If you are an adventure lover, there is nothing more beautiful than gliding down to Pokhara from Sarangkot by Paragliding .

Dhampus Sarangkot Hike From Pokhara

Day 04: Pokhara to Kathmandu on a tourist bus (6-7 hour) and Nagarkot in a private car. The total journey will take about 8-9 hours, but this is the cheapest option and the way to enjoy the landscape of Nepal via overland. Considering the flight cost, you can take the flight back to Kathmandu and transfer back to Nagarkot. Overnight in Nagarkot.

It might be hell of a journey for someone who is not used long ride, but you have the options to go on a long ride in a lower price or go comfortable by taking a short flight back to Kathmandu. This is the perfect way to enjoy the scenery of Nepal via overland If you are willing to compromise.

Jadamba Travel Super Deluxe Bus in Kathmandu Pokhara Sector

Day 05: At Nagarkot , you will enjoy the early sunrise view of the Himalayas from the rooftop of your hotel. Depending on the weather, you will see some of the most spectacular views of the Himalayas from Nagarkot. After breakfast, you can continiue sightseeing in Bhaktapur, which is on the way to Kathmandu airport before call off your home sweet home.

Note: Be mindful, the itinerary above is for the full 5 days. So, you need to make sure the arrival day should be early and departure day should be late in the afternoon; otherwise, you might not be able to cover all the activities as I mention here. In order to get the precise itinerary and things that you can include, please contact us with your arrival and departure date and time so we can suggest and customized that suits in your timeframe.

4 Nights 5 Days Combine Hiking and City Tour Around Kathmandu

There are a lot of options and activities you can combine to meet your expectations. For example, combining Kathmandu city tour with hiking around Kathmandu valley or Pokhara city and combine hike around are the options. The itinerary below for 4 night 5 days comes with an opportunity to hike around Kathmandu Valley and the iconic world heritage sites in the city.

  •  70% of the days you will spend in nature by doing hiking
  • Chances to enjoy the most incredible mountain views in the world.
  • 2 night 3 days Hiking included
  • Some of the most iconic world heritage sites in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur is part of this itinerary.

Infographic Map of Thamel and Place to go around

Day 02: Kathmandu to Sundarijal and hike to Chisapani. There is a local bus available to reach Sundarijal or simply take a private car for convenient options. It’s about 5-6 hours of gradual hike to Chisapani from Sundarijal in Shivapuri National Park. The first part of the hike takes you to the village call Mulkharkha . After lunch in Mulkharka, you can continiue hike to Chisapani at 2,100m and spend overnight. Chisapani is a small mountain village from where you can observe the mountain view of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna in the far end. And Everest mountain range also called Mahalangur range.

2 Night 3 Days Kathmandu to Nagarkot Trek Short Hiking around Kathmandu

4 Nights 5 Days Combine Hiking and City Tour Around Pokhara

This option might be an ideal plan but for among the most expensive. Due to it is required to take the flight both way to and from Pokhara. However, If you extend your visit to Nepal for at least one week and use the tourist bus, it will be one of the cheapest options too. It makes a significant difference, especially when it comes to saving time. A flight option may seem expensive, but it will allow you to include more activities in a short time. But Local bus or tourist bus takes almost two full days to get to Pokhara, and Back to Kathmandu means you will spend more time inside the bus then doing activities itself. The itinerary below gives you some idea.

Day 01: Visit 4 of the major world heritage sites in private cars (Shyambhunath, Patan, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath). It takes about 6 hours to complete — overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara on an early flight and hike to Dhampus. Overnight in Australian Camp. You will take a taxi/car from Pokhara airport Phedi and then about 5/6 hours of trek to get to the camp. It is a relatively easy hike.

Day 03: Dhampus to Naudada hike and take a taxi to Sarangkot. Sarangkot is one of the most popular hill stations for sunrise and sunset view of the Annapurna range. Overlooking view of Pokhara city and hundreds of gliders are gliding in Sarangkot’s sky every day. If you are one of them, this is the right spot to take a chance to paraglide here.

Day 04: Hike down to Pokhara or glide down If you love Paragliding. Pokhara sightseeing in the afternoon. You have the options to enjoy in Pokhara by visiting (David falls, Gupteshor cave, Mountain Museum , Seti George, Old Pokhara town, Mahendra Cave). Or If you just want to relax by doing some independent walk around the lakeside, boating in Phewa lake, that is also an alternative option. If you don’t have much of time, you can catch the late flight to Kathmandu as well.

More Options Available in Pokhara

There are multiple options available in Pokhara for short hiking. However, the option above is one of the popular combining a destination like Dhampus and Sarangkot. In the other logical way, being a popular route with incredible mountain views of the surrounding Dhampus and Sarangkot hike doesn’t require a National Park Permit and TIMS. Other options could be: Poon Hill trek , Ghandrul Trek, etc. But this area needs a permit.

There are many ways to spend 4 night 5 days in Nepal . However, the one above we just discussed is only a few of them. The itinerary and activities will depend on your available days from the starting to the end. If you don’t know what to do and where to go in Nepal during the time of 4 night 5 days, you can send us an email with exact available time frame, so we can take a look and try to fit what you can do. It will also help me to understand if you include your interest, budget, mode of transportation, and the categories of the hotel or a per-day budget.

What to See and Do in Nepal in 5 Days: The Top 3 Itineraries

Pokhara, Nepal

Traveling to Nepal for only 4 to 5 days is insufficient to do anything more than a superficial overview of this modest but diverse Himalayan country. It is never enough to obtain the greatest panoramas of Mount Everest. There is, however, a lot you can accomplish in five days to make your vacation worthwhile. And with so many things to see and do in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal’s core, you won’t have to be concerned about long journey times if you don’t want to venture far.

Nepal is a small nation with numerous breathtaking vistas, and the rich culture and scenic wonders will entice you to stay longer than five days. Nepal spans from very high mountains to jungle-infested plains, making it difficult to travel rapidly throughout the nation despite its tiny size. In five days, you’ll have enough time to experience the cultural attractions of Kathmandu and Pokhara and sample the activities that Nepal is famed for, such as short hikes and river rafting. You may even go to Base Camp on Everest (if you don’t mind boarding a helicopter!).
