How to get to Nass Valley BC. The official Auto Tour through Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Park starts 70 km, one hour from Terrace, BC. To get there, turn onto Nisga'a Highway 113 in Terrace. Trees line the highway and only further along the road, the view opens up to see the lakes and the magnificent landscape.

Once in the Nass Valley, visit the Nisga'a Visitor Centre and pick up an auto tour map. Visit the 19 stops on the self-guided tour including natural hot springs, the lava beds in Anhluut'ukwsim Laxmihl Angwinga'asanskwhl Nisga'a Provincial Park, and the four Nisga'a First Nations villages in the area: Canyon City, New Aiyansh, Greenville and Gingolx.

Tseax Cone Volcano Tour. One of the highlights of my visit to the Nisga'a Valley was the Tseax Cone Volcano Tour. Tseax Cone (also called Lava Cone) is the origin point of the lava flows from the eruptions in the 1700s. The area is closed to the public, so the only way to visit is on a guided tour.

Gitlaxt'aamiks. Gitlaxt'aamiks is the capital of the Nisga'a Nation and the largest community in the Nass Valley. Take the turnoff northeast at the junction of Highway 113 and Nass Road and within 10 minutes, be in view of four pts'aans (totem poles) — each representing the four Nisga'a clans, Raven, Killer Whale, Eagle, and Wolf — that stand in front of the community centre.
