Need a hand planning your next trip? Klook might be what you're looking for. Klook can help you discover events and activities at your destination and book them all from one place! Find out how Klook can help you in my in-depth review.

klook travel legit

Planning a trip to a new destination is always exciting. It helps you survive those long months before your trip actually happens.

But sometimes, it can get frustrating...

So many new attractions, adventure options, and, of course, that ever-looming question: "What's really worth doing when I get there?"

Sifting through endless websites and sub-par recommendations can be a total buzzkill. That's where Klook steps in, promising to be your go-to for sorting out the most memorable activities and events.

But you might be thinking, "Is Klook the real deal? Can it help me level up my travel game?"

You're in the right place. Out of all the Klook reviews, I'll be diving deep into the world of Klook, answering your most important questions and more! If you weren't sure you wanted to book with them before, getting to know Klook will help you decide.

Let's get to it!

Klook Logo

What Is Klook?

Klook started as a company mainly catering to travel in Southeast Asia. But its services have expanded worldwide in recent years! Now, you can use the service to buy tickets and book tours to many more destinations.

The name is short for "keep looking." Arguably, it's one of the leading online booking platforms today. The company was founded in Hong Kong in 2014 and now offers more than 60,000 activities in 250 destinations globally.

You can book everything from tours to rail tickets and airport transfers through the site. There is also a mobile app that you can use on both Android and iOS devices.

How Do You Use It?

The app is straightforward and works similarly to any other booking site you might have used.

Before you start booking, you'll need to set up an account. Don't worry—it's easy.

You can sign up through the Klook website or the app and use your email, Facebook, or WeChat account.

2. Find Your Activity

Klook is one of the first apps I use to look up a destination before every one of my trips. You can easily find what's available in a place with a simple search.

You can also find plenty of information and travel guides for the destination.

Let's say you're planning a trip to the UK and want to know what to do in London . All you have to do is search for London, and you'll immediately get a list of Klook's available offers in the city. You can further specify your search by clicking around among the various categories.

Aside from fun activities, you can also use the app to book airport transfers, local SIM cards, travel passes, and more.

Already know what you want to see or do? You can also search directly for a particular activity or item.

Klook Mobile App

3. Add to Cart

Suppose you need clarification on the activity or want to hold off booking. In that case, you can save the activities in your account "wishlist." Ensure you're logged in, then click the little heart on the activity's top right corner, and it'll save automatically.

If you're ready to book immediately, fill out the necessary fields for the booking in question and click "add to cart."

You can then check out right away or keep on browsing if you're planning on booking other activities at the same time.

4. Promo Codes and Credits

Before you pay for your booking, remember that you can also add promo codes and credits to your order to save more money.

Klook regularly offers promo codes and discounts on the site. If you've registered to receive the newsletter, you'll be sent these offers directly so you can use them to save money on your bookings.

Klook credits are something that you earn as you use the site and make bookings. These credits can then be used to pay for bookings in the future!

It's worth noting that you can only use one promo code per booking. But, you can use both promo codes and credits to pay for a booking simultaneously.

Klook Credit Earning Process

5. Pay For Your Booking

Klook offers payment methods specific to certain regions, so not all options are available everywhere.

The most common payment methods, such as credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and PayPal, are available in most areas.

6. Receive Your Voucher(s)

Once you've paid, you'll receive an instant confirmation with your order summary. Then, when the booking is confirmed, you'll receive an e-voucher that will act as your ticket for whatever you booked.

How long it takes to receive this voucher depends on the activity or product itself. Often, it's instant—other times, you might have to wait a little.

You don't have to print the ticket before the activity, which is convenient. When you arrive at your activity, you can show your e-vouchers directly on your mobile device.

Klook Cancellation & Refund Policy

If you're using this booking platform, you'll want to know more about its cancellation and refund policy. Because Klook operates in multiple different countries, these policies vary slightly.

But most of them are designed for the traveler’s convenience. So, if plans go awry or you change your mind, most times, Klook offers excellent flexibility to ensure peace of mind.

Here what I found commonly when looking through Klook's cancellation and refund policies across destinations:

Flexible Cancellation

Many activities on Klook come with a flexible cancellation policy, allowing you to cancel a certain number of days in advance for a full refund. Some activities even let you cancel up until pick-up time.

That said, the cancellation policy and the amount you'll get refunded varies based on activity and individual provider on Klook. It's a good idea to always check the specific cancellation policy of each booking for clarity.

Quick Refunds

Klook’s platform provides instant booking confirmation, but is the platform just as helpful with refunds?

In the case of cancellations, Klook strives to process refunds swiftly, typically within a few working days, depending on your payment method.

Compared to other websites, this seems like a very quick turnaround time!

Voucher Validity

One thing that Klook offers that many other booking sites do not is a "validity period".This validity period allows you to reschedule within the specified timeframe should your plans change.

Customer Support

Have questions or are facing issues? Klook’s customer support team can readily guide you through the cancellation and refund process, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

To get in contact with its customer service, you can call Klook, depending on your country, or email the team via [email protected].

Why Use Klook?

I've used Klook for numerous bookings, as I mentioned. But why would you choose to use Klook over other booking platforms?

When planning your next adventure, there are many reasons that I feel Klook beats out competitor websites like Viator or TripAdvisor . Of course, I'll also include a few areas that Klook needs to improve.

Here’s a balanced take on what makes Klook stand out and where it could up its game.

Things I Like About Klook

Extensive range of activities.

Klook offers an impressive array of activities and experiences. You can find things to do, from cultural tours to adventure sports.

I find the choices way more extensive than what many competitors offer! Personally, I love to be able to find everything in one place, so that's why Klook is my first choice of booking platform.

User-Friendly Interface

I find navigating through Klook a breeze, thanks to its intuitive and user-friendly interface. This makes finding and booking activities much more straightforward compared to some other platforms.

I'm also a sucker for its branding as it seems more exciting and fun than some competitors. While I browse for sightseeing tours or activities, it makes me get into an upbeat mood!

Competitive Pricing & Exclusive Deals

Klook often provides better prices and exclusive deals on travel activities that you might not find on other booking platforms, giving you value for your money.

Instant Confirmation & Mobile Vouchers

I love that Klook offers instant confirmation and the convenience of mobile vouchers, meaning less hassle and paper-free travel!

And if I use a trip planner like Pilot , I can save e-vouchers into my files for the trip so that everything's in the same place.

Hassle-Free Cancellation Policy

The flexible cancellation policy of Klook sets it apart from many competitors, providing travelers with peace of mind.

Loyalty Rewards Program

Klook rewards regular users with a loyalty program, which means the more I buy from Klook, the more I'll want to do it again since I save even more money!

What Klook Could Do Better

Customer service response time.

While Klook offers support, there have been instances where the response time could be improved, especially during peak travel seasons.

More Detailed Activity Descriptions

Some users might find that the descriptions of activities and experiences could be more detailed to better inform the traveler about what to expect.

I've run into this issue and definitely agree with what others are saying. Even with the best deals, I still want a full rundown with details about what I'm signing up for!

It'd be nice if Klook outlined a minimum requirement of details for providers to add to their activities.

More Real-Time Availability

Increasing real-time availability for some of its offerings would put Klook on par with real-time booking platforms like Airbnb Experiences.

Can You Trust Klook?

With companies like Klook that offer discounted activities and products, it's fair to be skeptical. So, is Klook trustworthy?

The company isn't free of controversy. Many online reviews say the company is excellent, while Klook reviews write about it being a scam. My personal experience? It can be hit and miss.

I have used Klook to book tours, airport transfers, and travel passes while planning a trip to Japan , finding things to do in South Korea , and more. While my experiences in Japan, Korea, and Cambodia were great, my experiences in Thailand and Vietnam left much to be desired.

Unfortunately, the tour operators in Thailand and Vietnam were scammers trying to get more money out of me than what was agreed.

I also found several complaints online of customers being given tickets that have already been used or canceled at other destinations, such as Singapore or Hong Kong.

While I haven't had 100% positive experiences with Klook, I still consider the company trustworthy and legit. Most of my experiences with Klook have been great, and the company is trying to learn from its mistakes.

The support staff is available 24/7 via live chat, email, or phone if you encounter booking issues. The FAQ page is also handy if you've experienced a simple problem.

How to Use Klook Successfully & Safely: Tips

Now that you've answered questions like, "can Klook be trusted" or "is Klook legit," you can get into actions you can follow to make sure you get the most out of booking with this travel website.

Like most useful and reliable sites, there are ways to get scammed or feel like you used your money on something unworthy. To help you avoid this while using Klook, here are my top tips:

Research & Read Klook Reviews

Start by thoroughly researching the activities and services available at your destination. Go through user reviews and ratings so you can better understand what to expect and ensure the service's quality and reliability.

Utilize Discounts or Promotions

Keep an eye on any available discounts, promotions, or exclusive deals. Sign up for Klook’s newsletter, and regularly check the app or website to stay updated on the latest offers and savings.

Book in Advance

To avoid disappointment, book popular activities and attractions well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons.

Early bookings also provide a greater chance of availing any early bird discounts.

Verify Activity or Service Details

Double-check all booking details, such as dates, times, and locations, before confirming your reservations. Ensure all the information is accurate. This way, you'll prevent any inconvenience during your trip.

Check Cancellation Policy

Before finalizing your booking, review the cancellation policy for each activity or service. I already mentioned this, but Klook has different policies.

Knowing the terms will help you manage changes or cancellations effectively, avoiding unnecessary costs.

Get to Know Klook's Mobile Voucher System

Familiarize yourself with Klook’s mobile voucher system. Have your e-vouchers ready and accessible for smooth redemption at the activity or service location.

Download WhatsApp

Many service providers and tour operators communicate through WhatsApp.

Download and set up WhatsApp to stay connected and receive real-time updates and information about your bookings.

Is Klook Worth It?

Despite my bad experiences with the tours in Thailand and Vietnam, I still use Klook regularly when I travel. Because I personally continue to use it, I think it's worth it to put it on your list of tools to check when booking.

It's an excellent way to save money on activities or even time and money on an airport transfer to your accommodation when you're too tired for public transport.

Whether booking an activity or not, the website is also a great place to find inspiration for your upcoming trips. I've lost count of how many times I've searched for a destination to see what is available to see and do, even if I have no intentions of booking a tour.

While Klook is excellent for anyone looking to save money on activities and products for their next trip, it's even more beneficial for families or people traveling in groups.

Other good alternatives to Klook that I use regularly are GetYourGuide and KKDay .

Our Rating 3.8/5

  • Good discounts and promotions
  • Lots of variety of activities and tickets
  • Instant confirmation
  • Generally flexible cancellation and refunds
  • Digital vouchers are available on your phone
  • User friendly website interface
  • Stories of used or canceled tickets
  • Occasional scam operators
  • Slower customer service
  • Lack of real-time availability

Girl Eat World

A girl's adventure in food and travel around the world, is klook legit my experience after years of using klook.

The first time I ever saw the name Klook was when I was traveling in Bali . I noticed a Korean tourist getting picked up outside of our hotel by a tour guide with a Klook name tag. This was many years ago, probably around the year of 2017 when I was spending a lot of time in Bali.

Penjor during Galungan in Bali

After seeing Klook in action, I did a quick search on the internet out of curiosity. It turns out that at that time, Klook was the new-ish marketplace for travel experiences in Asia – just like Viator or TripAdvisor, if you come from the other side of the world.

Fast forward six years later, Klook has flourished and I can pretty much rely on Klook to book any type of activity or experience when I travel. In Singapore (where I live) and Taiwan for example, you could book pretty much any attraction you can think of – from the zoo, aquarium, and even SIM cards – through Klook.

However, I know for visitors who don’t live in Asia, Klook may not be a familiar name and you might be hesitant to use them.

So, is Klook legit? I thought I’d write a little about my personal experience with Klook to ease any doubt for those of you who have not used Klook before!

What is Klook?

As I was saying before, Klook is a marketplace for travel experiences, just like Viator and TripAdvisor.

Through Klook, you can select any destination you want to visit and explore activities that you can book at that destination. You can also see reviews of other Klook members who have purchased that same activity before, which can help you decide if this is the right activity for you.

Kelingking Beach

The idea of a marketplace for travel activities is not new. It has been done many times over. However, what stood out to me about Klook, and what convinced me to try them and eventually become their regular customer, is the vast inventory of activities and the affordable price – especially when it comes to destinations in Asia.

How do you use Klook for traveling?

Klook started as a place where you can book tours or experiences. Nowadays, almost anything and everything can be booked on Klook, including tickets, transportation, SIM Cards, hotels, and even food .

For example, in Bali , you could rent a scooter to go around town, or you can book an airport transfer that will pick you up and drop you off directly at your accommodation, or you can buy SIM cards which can be picked up at the airport or delivered to your hotel. It makes travel so much more convenient!

Why should I use Klook?

Since my first encounter with Klook in 2017, I have started to use Klook exclusively whenever I travel. I find that there are many benefits to using Klook that other marketplaces simply cannot beat:

  • Ease of booking – Being an established marketplace for experiences, they’ve got the booking process down to the simplest and easiest experience! I am usually only a few clicks away from booking the experience I want.
  • Loyalty points (Klook Rewards) – Klook gives you loyalty points every time you book anything through their app or website through Klook Rewards, which you can use to offset the cost of your next booking. The amount is usually not much, but the more you use Klook, it could add up!
  • Instant confirmation or direct entry tickets – This is my favorite feature of Klook, which lets you walk in directly into an attraction or museum by simply showing a QR code. This feature is not available for all experiences, but when it is available, it makes traveling so much fuss-free. For example, when I was in Tainan , I pretty much bought the tickets for the major attractions on the spot (literally at the entrance of the attraction) and I was able to enter right away via the QR code from the Klook app.
  • Competitive pricing – I am not sure how they do it, but I find that prices in Klook are almost always cheaper than booking through other platforms or directly, especially for experiences in Asia.

Tips on using Klook successfully and safely

While there are many benefits to using Klook, it is very important to know that Klook is still a marketplace at the core of it. As such, the experience you get might vary.

Here are some of my personal tips to use Klook to your advantage!

1. Read the reviews thoroughly

For any specific items or experience in Klook, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out their reviews . This is a must-do regardless of whether you’re booking through Klook or any other platform.

Look for any negative reviews , and note down the ratio of negative vs positive reviews to get a clear view of the operator at their best and worst.

Think of it like buying items in a marketplace like Amazon – just because an item is listed on Amazon, it does not mean it’s going to be always high quality. In certain destinations, Klook might be listing the same items, services, or experiences by different vendors.

If you decide to book an experience with little or no reviews , be prepared to take the risk – the experience has not been validated by other users, and you might get a bad experience. But, it could also turn out well – you might simply have discovered a hidden gem that no one else has tried on Klook before.

In most cases, just because an activity has no reviews in Klook, it doesn’t mean they are completely new. More often than not, these experiences are offered by a company with many years of experience, it’s just that they are new to Klook. So if you are interested, you can find out who the vendor is (usually this is stated on the Klook activity page), and do a Google search on them outside of Klook. You might also see reviews that you don’t see in Klook.

The THSR Taiwan High-Speed Rail from Taipei to Tainan

2. Check the cancellation policy

Some experiences or services booked through Klook usually can be canceled, but it is extremely important to note that each item will have a different cancellation policy from another .

Usually, there will be a time limit for canceling – for example, you might not be able to get a refund if you cancel it at the last minute (within 24-48 hours) or you might only be eligible for a partial refund. But in certain experiences – usually a timed ticket like hotel booking, car rentals, a train ticket, or a show – they might not offer cancellation at all.

So, make sure you know the exact cancellation policies before booking to avoid any disappointment!

No-show Protection: You could add a “No-show refund” insurance while booking an experience to make sure you can still get some money back if something happens and you need to cancel. Find out more about Klook’s No-show insurance .

Chihkan Tower in Tainan

3. Make sure your booking has been confirmed

If you are booking a time-sensitive activity such as an airport transfer or a tour, make sure the organizer gets in touch with you and confirms your booking close to the date of your travel.

It’s rare, and it has not personally happened to me, but I have heard one instance from a friend when her airport transfer in Bali wasn’t confirmed and the vendor ended up being a no-show on the day. Klook refunded her, but she still had to scramble to find alternative transport which was not ideal.

To be fair, this is a risk that you are taking with every booking, even if you book directly with the vendor or through any other platform. Always be proactive and make sure your booking is confirmed!

The Golden Bridge hands at Ba Na Hills

4. Download WhatsApp for communication

Which brings me to my next point. You should download WhatsApp , which is how most people communicate in Asia, and likely how the tour operator will try to get in touch with you. Link your WhatsApp to the phone number you’ve provided when booking the tour.

Conclusion – My verdict on Klook so far

So, in conclusion – is Klook legit? Yes, in my experience, they are very much legit. I have not personally had a bad experience with any experiences I’ve booked through Klook so far. Perhaps, I have been lucky with over 80+ bookings I’ve made through Klook since 2018, ranging from tickets to airport transfers and car charters. In general, I find that Klook works really well when they have collaborated directly with the attraction as they are able to offer direct entry.

I have to note that I have yet to book hotels with Klook. It’s one of their newer offerings, and judging from the comment section of this post, people seem to encounter issues with the level of support when something goes wrong with the booking. As with other bookings, I would assess the risk by looking at all the reviews on the hotel’s Klook page.

And that’s all I know about Klook! What do you think? Will you book something on Klook for your next trip?

Note: I am just a regular happy customer of  Klook . I was not paid to write this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are honest and remain my own.

Have you ever tried booking plane ticket through klook? I’m considering using it for booking domestic plane ticket in Japan but still feeling a bit wary of it. Used klook several times before but never for plane ticket (mainly activities and experience only) and so far everything went well. So I’m just wondering if it is reliable to use klook for this. Also do you have any tips for using domestic flight in Japan? Can you please share it if you have? Thanks.

  • June 14, 2024

Hey Karina, no I didn’t even know you can book flights through Klook! I have only ever flown domestically once in Japan, from Tokyo to Hokkaido (Chitose). I flew with JAL and would recommend them. I found flying domestically quite easy in Japan, very straightforward process.

We rented a car via Klook at Hertz. While we complied with the policies our credit card was not accepted at Hertz. They therefore did not give us the car, but told us to get a refund from Klook, as they would not charge Klook anything. Klook refuses to reimburse anything, as the our request for a cancellation was 2 hours after the deadline. We did not ask for this to be cancelled because we didn’t want the car, but because it did not work out to get the car. Now Klook pocketed 845 USd from us, does not have to pay anything to Hertz and tells us that they are sorry to adhere to their policies!!! At least don’t lie when you decide to get rich with our money!!!

  • May 26, 2024

Hey Andreas, sorry to hear that. I would definitely chase them to give you a refund. May I know which country this is happening in and why they don’t accept your credit card?

While the Klook platform is very easy to use, their customer care is extremely disappointing/disgusting and they will waste your time and your money!

Beware! Our experience with Klook’s airport transfer service at Narita Airport was nothing short of disgusting. We booked our transfer while in transit in Dubai, specifically requesting a 6 PM pickup time and even providing our flight number for added clarity. However, upon arrival, we faced a frustrating situation that ultimately left us without transportation and out of pocket.

After clearing customs and collecting our luggage, 4 sets of eyes searched for our driver, who was nowhere to be found. After frantic searching and inquiries at the information desk, my husband finally located the driver, who turned out to be unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. He demanded additional payment, claiming he had waited for 100 minutes, despite our voucher stating the driver would wait for one hour and 40 minutes.

When we refused to pay extra, the driver abandoned us, leaving us stranded with our children and luggage.

To make matters worse, Klook’s customer service has been ABYSMAL. They dragged their feet in addressing our concerns (not getting back to us within the 2 days as promised), made us provide photographic evidence (which they totally disregarded), spent hours going back and forth on chat and refused to get a manager to call us, failed to provide a refund and ultimately refused to take responsibility for their flawed system, which completely disregarded our requested pickup time (inputting the flight number overrides the clients requested pickup time and communicates to their operator to pitch up at the time the flight lands- so stupid!).

Klook admitted to poor communication with their operator but still denied us our hard-earned money back. Save yourself the headache and avoid Klook’s unreliable and unprofessional service!

I also used the Klook platform to book Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets and while one pays more for reserved seating it does not allow one to choose seats so we had 4 tickets in 4 separate rows with my young kids sitting on their own. I waited over an hour to get through to their customer support chat and they could do absolutely nothing to help!

2 out of 2 failed Klook bookings. Deleting the platform and will NEVER USE IT AGAIN!

  • March 31, 2024

Hey Carnita. Sorry you had this experience! Definitely not ideal. I booked a transfer from Narita airport as well back in November, Thankfully my experience was great, the driver was waiting for us at the gate. The operator I booked with was called Chinichi through Klook.

Thank you for this article, was looking for reviews of Klook services. Question, do you know the quality of the pocket WIFI router they offer is sufficient for business usage in Taiwan? From what I have read, it does seem like there should be no problems with conference calls for audio/video across to United States? Will be visiting Taiwan for up to a month on part vacation but will also be bringing work along. Just want to be sure the wifi router will be able to offer reliable WIFI access for up to 8 hours if necessary. The location will mainly be in Taipei and from the same address location. Thanks ahead of time. -Allen

Hey Allen, I did not use wifi router but I used a SIM card for my mobile phone and the speed was very fast throughout Taiwan. I believe I was getting 4G/5G everywhere. The wifi router depends on the provider, so you should research the specific telco provider to see if they are reliable since you’re using it for work. Mine was Chunghwa Telecom. Even though most of them are unlimited data, you should see if they have maximum data usage per day or they might throttle the speed after. Not saying this is a thing in Taiwan, but I’ve seen it in other parts of Asia.

SCAMMERS!!! The absolute worst! We booked a 24sqm room in E-hotel Higashi Shinjukul through the Klook app, only to find out that they booked a 12sqm one for us instead. We could barely fit our things here! In addition, there is no customer service number you can call for help in Klook. Worse off, the E-hotel Higashi Shinjuku kept passing on the blame to Klook instead of helping us out. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! PLEASE AVOID BOOKING ANYTHING THROUGH KLOOK. GO FOR RELIABLE APPS LIKE BOOKING.COM.

  • February 4, 2024

Hey Cara, I truly am sorry to hear about your experience. It seems that Klook is still working out the kinks when it comes to accommodation booking. I personally have only used them for experiences and tickets. Anyway, I hope your case can be resolved soon.

  • December 25, 2023

I had the same experience, I was informed to expect my refund credits within 30 days on 06Nov; is till did not see it reflected in my klook app till now despite me sending emails to klook on three other occasions to inquire about my refund. Each time klook responded very promptly that they have issues the credit voucher to my account but as of now on 25Dec 2023, I still do not see it in my klook app. Klook’s Experience Specialist was quick to ask for feedback on their customers support, however, the survey was just a super short one with only one question and a yes / no answer to it. There isn’t even a space for us to express our dismay or request for further assistance, I can’t help but wonder what kind of a customer experience survey is this. I can’t help but wonder if my credit refund has been misappropriated; if the credit voucher has been issued as what their customers support team claimed, then where is it ?

  • January 3, 2024

Hey Rosalind, I’m sorry to hear about your experience! I can’t really comment further as I don’t know the details of the booking in your situation, but I hope it gets resolved soon. Please do feel free to update me the outcome, if any.

  • December 17, 2023

After over a month of promises of refunds for accomodation I still have not been refunded. Very difficult to contact, English bad, no customer service. Book elsewhere.

Hi Jenine, sorry to hear that. Please let me know if the issue is eventually resolved.

Looking to buy any passes, tickets or tours in Japan? You may have come across Klook – but what is this website, can you trust it and should you be using it? Below, I’ll share my experience using Klook!

I’m a big believer in DIY-ing your own trips to Japan . Planned holidays from travel agencies can be a great option for some people, but you can save so much money by planning it yourself (and you’ll get to do exactly what YOU want to do).

That’s a big reason why I’ve started The Navigatio and continuously create itineraries that you can copy and adjust to your preferences for free. But since DIY-ing a trip also means you are responsible for booking activities, tickets, airport transfer and more, I thought it was time to introduce one of my favourite websites for this: Klook.

Klook is quite big in Asia, but you may not be as familiar with them if you’re based in Europe or America. But, when it comes to booking tickets for travelling in Asia (especially in Japan), Klook is one of the best places to do so.

I’ve been using Klook for many years and I’ve recently also had the pleasure of working with them on my latest 3-month Japan trip. So I wanted to share some clarification as to whether Klook is legit and how I make the most of using their services.

* This article was kindly sponsored by Klook – all views and opinions are my own. I have used Klook way before they reached out to me for a collaboration and I only work with companies I use and trust.

What is Klook?

Let’s start with the basics, what even is Klook ?

Klook is a marketplace for all things travel. Just as you would search Booking.com for your next hotel, or Skyscanner for your next flight, Klook lets you search for the best activities in your destination. The name “Klook” comes from “Keep Looking”, as they’re always looking for the best things to do for travellers.

While Klook started as a place for tickets and passes, it has grown to offer pretty much anything you need for your trip now. This includes hotels, tours, airport transfers, car rentals, WiFi and SIM cards, travel insurance and more.

Klook Japan homepage

Klook covers a ton of destinations in Asia, but also Europe, Africa, America and Oceania. However, since my website mainly focuses on Japan, that’s what I will be focussing on in this review. This is where I’ve used Klook the most so I can speak from experience.

As you can probably tell from my website, I travel to Japan A LOT, and Klook is a lifesaver for these trips. Since they offer pretty much anything you need on a trip, it’s incredibly handy to have it all in one trustworthy place .

I’m all for putting your own trip together instead of paying for (often overpriced) fully planned tours. Klook makes this super easy – I’ve been using and recommending them for years. If you’ve read any of my other guides, you probably have seen some links to Klook already!

They’re a very innovative company and are always trying to find ways to help travellers travel more easily (and cheaper).

One example is the Klook Value Rail Pass . When the Japan Rail Pass increased its prices by nearly 70%, Klook created this pass as a great alternative. This way, people can still save money travelling on the bullet train for one of the most popular routes for first-time visitors.

How to use Klook

You can use Klook on your web browser, or download their app on the Apple Store or Google Play Store. It only takes a few minutes to set up your account and you’ll be good to go.

If you’re using the web browser on your computer or laptop to book your tickets, I recommend downloading the app too . When you’re travelling, it’s much easier to have the app with you to show your passes and tickets on the go.

Klook phone screenshot

Once you’re signed in, you can start browsing. You can either look for specific activities that you know you want to purchase, or you can have a look at what’s available for your destination. If you’re after more inspiration, head to Klook’s homepage and look at the “ Inspiration for your itinerary ” section – you may be able to find some great activities here.

Reasons to use Klook

Of course, there are multiple platforms like Klook online, so why do I keep using Klook over other ones? I’ll go over why I prefer using Klook over other platforms, but the main reason is the convenience.

I’ve had such a good experience using Klook in the past, and because they have such a wide selection of tickets and passes, I don’t see any reason to look at other platforms. Other reasons to use Klook are:

  • Cheap tickets – Klook’s prices are very competitive. They often are the cheapest place to buy certain tickets.
  • Innovative – When the JR Pass increased its prices by nearly 70% in October 2023, Klook put together a new “ Klook Value Rail Pass ” to help travellers continue to travel the Golden Route for a very affordable price. I love how Klook puts travellers first and finds innovative ways to help us travel cheaper!
  • Supports different currencies –  Since Klook supports 40 different currencies, you’ll can avoid any nasty foreign transaction fees or bad exchange rates. Simply pay with your own card in our own currency, super easy (& cheaper!).

Klook currencies

  • Ease of use –  Especially with the Klook App, it’s so easy to quickly book something when you’re already on the road. Plus, it’s great to have all your passes in one place. On top of that, Klook now offers pretty much anything you need for your trip, from WiFi to hotels.
  • Avoid confusing Japanese sites – To buy tickets to certain attractions, the alternative to Klook is to use the official Japanese website. Not only can this be a bit of a nightmare when you don’t speak/read Japanese (even with Google Translate, it’s a minefield), but some of these sites don’t accept foreign bank or credit cards either. These Japanese sites could also require you to fill out you a Japanese address. Using Klook helps you avoid any of this.
  • Klook Rewards –  By using Klook, you can collect loyalty points which result in rewards, cashback, discounts, member-only prices and more.
  • Promotions and discounts – Klook often has special campaigns or discounts to help you travel cheaper. Of course, I keep a close eye out for any Japan-related discounts so make sure to sign up for my newsletter to get any Klook discounts right to your inbox.
  • Credibility – Klook is a legit company, having won multiple awards in the travel industry. Plus, the secure payment systems ensure any payment you make on their website or app is fully secure.

Klook Review: My Experience Using Klook

I have been using Klook for multiple years, so I was very excited when they reached out to me to work together on some content.

Even before this, you may have seen me link to Klook activities in previous blog posts (for example, the Nikko Pass and Hakone Free Pass ), as I booked my own passes through Klook during my travels. I’ve also booked the JR Pass through them in the past, as it was the cheapest place to buy them, along with many other entree passes.

I’ve never had any issues buying tickets through Klook. They’ve always shown up on my app right away and they always worked whenever we had to scan them at the entrance.

The website and app are also great for browsing. I didn’t even know the Nikko Pass existed before I searched for any Nikko-related activities on Klook – thankfully I did because it saved us so much money!

I would never recommend anything I haven’t used myself or wasn’t 100% happy with. And I’ve been recommending Klook in individual articles for years – they’ve made my trips to Japan much easier and I’m sure they’ll continue to do so.

The Navigatio’s Top Pick Japan Klook Activities & Tickets

If you’re planning a trip to Japan and would like to see what Klook’s got to offer, here are my personal top Klook activities and tickets to check out:

  • Shibuya Sky entree tickets
  • Universal Studios Japan entree tickets
  • Universal Studios Japan Fast Passes
  • Individual Shinkansen tickets (especially now the JR Pass has increased in price!)
  • Klook Rail Value Pass (a great alternative to the JR Pass if you’re following the Golden Route )
  • Sanrio Puroland entree ticket

Of course, you can look at the other destinations Klook covers too. I used Klook on my trips to Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore too.

Conclusion – Is Klook Legit?

Yes, Klook is 100% legit . I’ve bought tickets and passes through Klook for years and never had any issues with them. The company has countless verified reviews of happy customers who’ve safely used them. They have won many awards and have been featured by many trusted sources.

When booking activities, just be sure to read the cancellation policy and check the reviews . Look out for any activities that have a lot of bad reviews or a lack of reviews. And after booking, check if your booking has been confirmed .

Luckily, I’ve never had a bad experience using Klook, which is why I’ve recommended them for years in my guides – however, you should always (no matter where you book something!) be cautious.

When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is… Right?

While I generally agree with the above sentiment myself, I have to say there are exceptions to this, one of which you’re about to find out!

If you’re new to my travel blog, you may notice I’ve recommended this intriguing thing called “Klook” in my travel guides and itineraries. Lately in online forums and groups I’ve seen travellers curiously ask questions about this new player in the Western Hemisphere: “Is Klook legit? Is Klook a scam? Is Klook safe?”

When something sounds too good to be true, most of the time it’s easy to think it could be a scam or land you in some sort of trouble. But, dear reader, I’m here to help put your mind at ease about whether Klook is trustworthy and how you can utilise it to “bunch of websites” and not look like a tourist on your next trip.

I mean, it is an unusual name, so what even is Klook? Is it for you? I was personally invited to celebrate Klook’s official launch into the Australian and New Zealand markets in September 2019, and I’ve come back with lots of juicy info to share with you.

If you’re interested in learning more about why you should use Klook to book cultural travel experiences, activities, rail passes, pocket wifi & SIM cards or private transfers, this article has you covered. Read on for more!

This guide to answering is Klook legit will cover:

Should you use klook to book cultural travel experiences, is klook safe to use, what is klook, is klook legit, is klook trustworthy, benefits of using klook, how to use klook, where to find klook.

This article was kindly sponsored by Klook, whom I first recommended on my blog in May 2018. As always, all research to create this article, thoughts and opinions are my own. This article contains some affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you click through and make a purchase.

In case you may not have already guessed from my blog’s name, Bunch of websites, I love nothing more than making the most of my travel experiences by being organised and “blending in” as best as possible when abroad. Some of the easiest ways to achieve that is through preparation and learning more about the local culture through authentic experiences.

I created this blog help you accomplish this too, whilst also spreading awareness about. The importance of “bunch of websites” in our current age of overtourism. This is a subject I’m fiercely passionate about so I’ve explained. The ways we can still travel without contributing to overtourism issues if you’re keen to learn more.

As there are already some great resources out there for how to use Klook and personal Klook reviews, I’ve decided to instead focus on what makes this service ideal for helping you become more of an bunch of websites tourist in your future travels. With that said, let’s jump into it!

When we are handing over sensitive information such as personal and credit card details, of course. We want to make sure our data is going to be encrypted and in safe hands throughout the process.

Klook safe to use as payment transactions are encrypted using secure online encryption technology. You have come to expect from trustworthy booking sites. Payment options include Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or Alipay.

Additionally, Klook available in 23 localized languages and 41 currencies to simplify. The booking process and ensure you aren’t left with any surprise currency conversion fees!

klook-1

Short for “Keep Looking”, Klook is an online booking platform that connects travellers with local operators in 350 destinations around the world. Its focus is to enhance experiences for travellers, in turn helping them to achieve a more authentic and stress-free trip.

Targeted at FIT (Free Independent Travellers) such as myself, Klook has everything from rail passes to theme park tickets, pocket wifi to SIM cards, local cultural experiences such as wine tasting in the Hunter Valley to private transfers to help you be organized in advance and to make your trip the best it can be.

We provide seamless booking experiences for attractions, tours, local transportation, food & beverage, and unique experiences on our website and award-winning app.” ~ Klook

What I love about Klook is its ability to bridge the gap between travelers. Who aren’t sure what activities or experiences are available at their destination with local operators. Who stand to benefit from these travelers. For instance, many people aren’t aware of all these things to do in the Hunter Valley for non-drinkers so Klook can help!

With more of us traveling than ever before, it’s important that our tourist dollars (or insert other currency here) trickle back down to these operators and their local community. This is where Klook comes in! Klook has the ability to expose these local businesses to a global audience, an opportunity they may not have had before.

klook travel legit

This is a common question people find themselves asking as some ticket prices can be cheaper than through the official vendor websites. For instance, Klook is the cheapest place to purchase the Japan Rail Pass. But in short the answer is yes, Klook is legit!

Although in the Western Hemisphere the startup is fairly new, did you know Klook has been an established brand in Southeast Asia for the past 5 years? Founded in 2014, Klook now expanding quite rapidly – one of the fastest-growing companies in the travel industry, in fact – and set to surpass 60 million bookings globally by the end of this year. That’s a huge number to get your head around!

How they are able to offer tickets and cultural experiences at discounted rates a tightly guarded secret, although rumor. It that it’s because Klook has been able to achieve strong partnerships with their vendors. The good news means those savings passed on to travelers.

To add weight behind the answer to “is Klook legit”, as well as having offices in over 20 countries. The company has been featured in many reputable publications such as Forbes, CNBC. Wall Street Journal, South China Morning Post, Travel Daily News and more. That’s no easy feat.

Is Klook Legit?

With over 5 million verified user-generated reviews, you can expect honest feedback about each activity from travelers just like you. In addition to Klook’s photography of the experiences, many users also upload their own photos in their reviews. Which also helps to give you a better idea of what to expect.

Additionally, Klook is trustworthy because their cancellation policies for each experience are clear and upfront in the descriptions. Refunds are also issued in particular instances, just be sure to carefully read the cancellation policy for each experience or ticket under the “Terms & Conditions” paragraph before the reviews begin.

Why use Klook?

klook travel legit

There are a number of reasons why you may wish to consider starting to use Klook to book your travel experiences and transport tickets, especially if you plan on visiting Asia, Oceania or Europe:

  • Firstly, who doesn’t want to save money on travel experiences and local transport options?! As mentioned earlier, Klook can be the cheapest place to purchase many tickets to attractions, passes, and activities.
  • I personally like Klook because they are big on promoting travel by rail, which is more environmentally friendly than other transportation options (as well as convenient!). Through their platform, Klook aims to simplify complex rail systems in Asia and Europe through digitized ticketing for the Japan Rail Pass, Taiwan Rail, Taiwan Rail, China Rail, Rail Europe.
  • Klook makes it easy to stay connected when traveling with options to pick up a local SIM card or pocket wifi at your destination. This is great for using GPS to get around, something I’ve recently converted to!
  • There are 100,000+ local cultural experiences and transport passes in 350+ destinations around the globe. So chances are there will be something exciting for you at your destination. Even in far-flung places like my motherland of Australia and neighboring New Zealand.
  • As Klook’s booking platform is far-reaching and ever expanding. It can help you discover offbeat locations and activities you may not have heard of before. Daruma doll-making class in Kurashiki, anyone?

So now you know what Klook is and that they are legitimate, some of the benefits of the platform are:

  • Ability to book anywhere, anytime using the Klook website or smartphone app. I’ve known people to see a massive lineup at an attraction only to jump onto their Klook app and purchase tickets with instant confirmation so they could skip the line entirely!
  • 90% of tickets and activities provide instant confirmation so you don’t have to wait around to benefit from your purchase. Perfect for when you’re on the go. Just look for the little orange lightning bolt symbol on the activity.
  • Electronic ticketing for many attractions means no printing out tickets is necessary. Less paper use is better for the environment. If you’re out and about, it’s unlikely you’d have access to a printer anyway!
  • Ability to accumulate loyalty credit points. You’re able to save up these credits like rewards points to use on pricier activities, meaning you pay less overall.
  • Help you be a confident and organised tourist by purchasing transport passes and tickets in advance to popular activities, avoiding disappointment and the stress of trying to figure it out on arrival. This is important to help you “bunch of websites”!
  • Klook holds many themed promotions throughout the year, allowing you to save even more money on activities.

Simply download and install the Klook app from the Google Play or Apple App stores to your smartphone. The app is very user intuitive, simply type in your destination to explore what’s available.

If you’re a new user, create a profile and you’ll be good to go!

What is Klook ?

You may have heard of Viator or Experience Oz – you know, websites that sell a range of tickets to various attractions as well as tours and airport transfers.  Well, Klook is exactly this – the only thing is it’s even better!

Now I’m sure with a name like “Thrifty Family Travels” you’ll have guessed that I love a bargain.  I mean, why pay full price if you can get something cheaper?  Which is how I first stumbled across Klook.

I first came across Klook when researching discount tickets for attractions for our Japan trip in 2019.  Japan can be very expensive for families, given it has so many awesome attractions for families and so I wanted to do everything I could to save as much money as possible.

Then I found the Klook website, which had discounted tickets to a range of family friendly attractions, as well as Japan rail passes, airport transfers and even portable wifi devices. So I pretty much booked my entire Japan trip using the Klook website and saved a stack of cash in doing so.

So, in a nutshell, Klook is an online booking system that allows travellers to book with local operators from destinations worldwide. So, whether you’re after tickets to theme parks or museums, a guided city tour, a local cultural experience, private airport transfers or a local SIM card to stay connected while you’re away – Klook is your one stop shop that can help you with all that an even more.

How to Use the Klook Website ?

One of the things I love about Klook is that whether I know exactly what I’m after – say theme park tickets – or I have no idea what there is to do in a city – Klook can help.

You see, the best way to use Klook is to jump on their home page and search by “ Explore destinations ”.  Then choose the location you’re heading to. For example, at the moment, I’m getting ready to go to Los Angeles, so I’ll select “ North America ” and then “ Los Angeles ”.

klook travel legit

Now as you can see in the screenshot below, on the Los Angeles page, at the top you can see the headers: Attractions & tickets – Car rentals – Tours & must-sees – Hotels – Wifi & SIM cards.   So if you know what you’re looking for, click on one of these links.

However, what I like to do when just starting out researching a destination is to scroll down to where it says, “ Explore all things to do in Los Angeles 2022 ”.  This will allow me to see absolutely everything Klook offers for Los Angeles.

klook travel legit

As you can already see just from the screenshot above, Klook has tickets for the most popular attractions in Los Angeles, such as Universal Studios and Disneyland.  But if you keep looking, you’ll also find some more unique experiences and things you may not even have known were on offer.

To book Klook ticket s, simply click on the attraction – choose the relevant type of ticket you’d like and the number of adults and children you need tickets for.  For some attractions – such as Universal Studios, you will also need to choose the date and/or time you’d like to go.

klook travel legit

Here are a couple of things I’d like to point out here in the above screenshot:

Make sure the amount is in the correct currency, as Klook sells tickets in a range of different currencies.  If it’s not in the currency you want to pay, then select the correct currency from the top of the screen.

Underneath where the total price is, it mentions credits – more about this below, but I just wanted to bring your attention to this now.

Selected package details

On the right hand side, it talks about the package details – I highly recommend you read this before making a booking. Then, click on the “see all” link at the bottom to see exactly what your ticket includes and doesn’t include.

What to expect

If you scroll down, you’ll come to a section providing further detail about what you’re booking.  I find this particularly helpful for tours or attractions I’m not familiar with as it provides additional information about what you’ll do and see.

A tip here for tours.  Sometimes in the information at the top, it will list a bunch of places and so you might assume the tour takes you to all these places.  However, sometimes in the fine print, you’ll see the tour just drives past or has a photo opportunity at a place rather than allowing you time to explore.

Things to note

Scroll down even further again, and you’ll find even more information.

I highly recommend you don’t make a Klook booking before checking the above and are happy with all the information provided.

How to Make a Klook Booking?

Once you’ve read all the information and you’re happy to book, press “ Book now ” and if you haven’t already logged in, you’ll be asked to do.

I know some people don’t like logging into things and think somehow Klook is going to sell all your personal information to Russian spies or something or rather – but that’s really not the case.  This is so YOU can keep track of your bookings, vouchers and the credits I briefly touched on above (more on that below).  So just log in ok!

Then on the booking page, you should have your information already pre filled and there’s the opportunity to add in a promo code if you have one.  Klook has some fantastic promo codes from time to time – so logging in also means you’ll be on their email list and hear about any great promotions they have.  Like 50% off on rail passes – hello bargain!

How to Use Klook Credits ?

So above, I briefly talked about Klook credits.  Basically, you’ll earn credits for everything you book via Klook.  You’ll see just how many credits you’ll earn during the booking process.

The value of credits does change depending on the currency you’re using and the exchange rate on the day – so there’s no real exact science to it – well there is – but it’s complicated!

So I know your next question is – how to use Klook credits – right?  Well, once you’ve earned at least 10 credits, when you go to pay for your next booking, there will be an option at the bottom to use your credits.  This will result in a cheaper price.

You don’t have to use your Klook credits if you don’t want to.  You can always save them up and use them later if you like.

How to Use Klook Voucher and Tickets?

Once you’ve made a booking with Klook, you’ll be sent your Klook voucher or tickets to your email.  It’s really important to check the voucher they send to you, as while in some cases the voucher works as your tickets, other times, you will need to exchange this voucher for your tickets at the venue.

While you can print out your voucher on paper, I prefer to save the trees and use the voucher electronically.  To keep your voucher electronically, you can either keep the email somewhere handy so you can show the voucher or what I like to do is make use of the Klook app .

As you can see in the screenshot below, all you need to do to access your vouchers via the Klook mobile app is to press on the “ Bookings ” tab and a list of all your current and past vouchers will be there.  Then you click on the “ See voucher ” button and up comes your voucher – it’s that easy.

You can also log into your account on the Klook website via your PC and see the vouchers there.

klook travel legit

How Much Money Will I Save with Klook?

As you can see from the screenshot below, the amount of money you can save with Klook really does vary.  Your Klook discount can be anywhere from a couple of dollars a ticket to $20 or $30 dollars.  But of course, if you’re a family – even those couple of dollars savings really do add up.

If you’re a family like ours – we’re always travelling and always purchasing tickets to attractions – so every dollar we can save really adds up quickly for us.  Plus, I just love earning credits on my purchases and getting even bigger Klook discounts.

Even if you haven’t booked your tickets with Klook in advance, if you’re standing outside an attraction, I’d recommend looking it up on the Klook app to see if you can get entry at a cheaper price.  If it is, book via Klook, and you’ll get your voucher instantly.  I’ve been known to do this many times!

Even if the price is the same, as you earn credits through Klook, your next Klook purchase will be even cheaper.  Plus, sometimes the lineup to buy tickets is just huge at some attractions, so with Klook, you can skip the lines and save money – winning!

klook travel legit

So is Klook trustworthy ?

Hopefully, by now, you know the answer to this.  Yes, Klook is 100% trustworthy.  I’ve been using Klook for a few years now to book all my tickets and tours – I personally just love them.

I’ve also been a Klook affiliate for a few years now, which means I earn a small commission from any tickets you might book through my website.  And to be even more transparent – Klook did gift me an Go City LA Explorer Pass in exchange for writing this article – but I would have bought it from them anyway.  This way I save some money and you get to hear how fabulous they are.

But I can assure you I don’t promote Klook just because I get a commission from them (or they gave me a Pass).  I also earn a commission from places such as Viator and Experience Oz. So while there is absolutely nothing wrong with Viator or Experience Oz, I promote Klook because they really will save you money!

I use them myself and I’ve provided proof of that; as you can see from the mobile screenshot above, I purchased Universal Studio tickets recently for our upcoming trip to LA.

So is Klook trustworthy ?  Absolutely they are.  And if you haven’t used them yourself yet – I recommend you head on over to their website and if you do find something you like, use the Klook promotion code THRIFTYFAM10 and get 10% off whatever you book.  Please note that this promo is only for brand new Klook customers to try out and only for readers from Australia or New Zealand.

And that’s my Klook website review – I hope I’ve now convinced you to at least consider Klook when you’re next travelling.  Even if you’re not travelling somewhere – they most likely offer tickets to many attractions in your local area – so check them out!

If you’re traveling to Japan or other parts of Asia and doing some trip planning there’s a good chance that you have come across  Klook during your research. This travel booking company has emerged as a popular platform for travelers, offering a vast array of activities, tours, and travel deals.

Its rapid rise to prominence has many asking: “Is Klook legit?” This isn’t just about money but also about making the most of our travel time.

As travelers, we need platforms we can trust, especially when making large purchases such as the Japan Rail Pass , or a week-long hotel reservation so it’s prudent to check if Klook is safe and legit before handing over your credit card details.

Next, we’ll delve into Klook’s offerings, assess its reliability, and provide a clear verdict on its legitimacy. So, before you consider your next booking, let’s get some answers.

Note: If you are in a rush, and just need confirmation about Klook’s legitimacy, you can safely rest assured that the company is the real deal and head back to Klook to make your booking. (don’t forget to check out their coupon page for some discounts before you checkout)

And if you want the full details about Klook, then read on. We have you covered.

Is Klook Legit?

klook travel legit

Absolutely. Since its inception in 2014, Klook has grown exponentially and is now one of the leading travel service platforms globally. They’ve built partnerships with thousands of operators worldwide, and their platform processes millions of bookings yearly.

Their transparency, with displayed customer reviews for each activity or service, provides an added layer of trust. Plus, they have a responsive customer service team that aids travelers with queries or issues.

People often wonder about the legitimacy of Klook, especially when they spot ticket prices that are notably lower than those on official vendor websites. Take the Japan Rail Pass, for example; Klook offers it at the most competitive price, and they are also the only supplier to our knowlegde that have offered to sell at the lower price right up until the end of September 30th, after with a massive price hike kicks in (most other JR pass sellers plan to rise prices a few days earlier)

While Klook might seem like a new name in the West, it’s noteworthy that this platform has been a prominent player in Southeast Asia since its inception in 2014. So It’s not just a fleeting name in the travel industry; by the close of 2021, Klook had astonishingly processed over 80 million global bookings.

The intriguing aspect is how Klook manages to present tickets and unique cultural experiences at such discounted rates. While its pricing strategy remains closely guarded, whispers suggest that its focus on vendor partnerships might be the secret sauce. The best part? These discounts directly benefit travelers.

Still skeptical about Klook’s credibility? Here’s something to consider: Klook isn’t just a name in the travel domain but a recognized brand with offices spanning more than 20 nations. It has garnered attention and accolades from distinguished media houses, including Forbes, CNBC, Wall Street Journal, South China Morning Post, and Travel Daily News, to name a few.

What is Klook?

Shibuya Sky Tickets From Klook

Klook is a travel services platform that enables users to discover and book travel activities and attractions in various destinations around the world. Founded in 2014, Klook quickly gained prominence among travelers, thanks to its user-friendly interface and a vast array of offerings from city tours, theme park tickets, and local experiences to transportation services.

The platform gives travelers a seamless and convenient way to enhance their trips by making accessible local experiences just a few clicks away.

Who runs Klook?

Klook was founded by Eric Gnock Fah, Bernie Xiong, and Ethan Lin. The trio has since led the company to its current status as one of the leading travel platforms globally. They are supported by a team of professionals managing various aspects of the business.

Klooks User Reviews

klook travel legit

One aspect where klook really stands out is the high number of quality reviews from its users on all listings. it’s not unusual to find thousands of reviews and user photos on a single listing.

And we have found that many of the user reviews are useful and contain practical information. For example for many of the regional Japan rail passes, user reviews on Klook will give tips or even instructions with photos on how to use a ticket machine or direct to a ticket exchange counter.

How Does Klook Work?

Klook operates primarily through its website and mobile app. Users can search for activities and services based on their destination. Once a destination is chosen, Klook displays a list of available activities, complete with descriptions, customer reviews, and prices.

Booking on Klook is quite straightforward:

  • Search & Discover : Input your destination to find available activities.
  • Select & Book : Once you find an activity or service of interest, you can read more about what’s offered, check its availability on your travel dates, and see the total price.
  • Receive a Voucher : After booking, you’ll receive a voucher via email. This voucher will contain all the details of your booking, including where to redeem or how to use it.
  • Enjoy Your Activity : On the day of the activity, present your voucher (some might be mobile vouchers, while others might require a printout) to partake in the booked service.

The platform also offers discounts and promotions regularly, making it an attractive option for travelers looking for deals.

Our Experience with Klook

klook travel legit

As seasoned travelers, our journeys have taken us through the length and breadth of Japan multiple times. We pride ourselves on our in-depth knowledge and understanding of Tokyo and the rest of this amazing country, yet on our recent expedition, Klook managed to elevate our experience even further.

We’ve been utilizing JR Rail Passes for years, but this time, we decided to try the regional JR passes offered through Klook. Not only did we find the platform’s process streamlined and efficient, but the pricing and the range of options also impressed us.

We opted for the JR Hokuriku Area Pass and the Hokkaido Rail Pass . These specific passes allowed us the flexibility to explore regions at our own pace while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Klook is also our go-to platform for tickets to Shibuya Sky or the Tokyo Skytree observation decks (among others) and is generally the best platform for advanced tickets to attractions in Japan.

And if you plan to visit a lot of attractions, Klook’s combo passes, such as the Klook Osaka Pass (pictured above) can save you some decent money.

We also booked a traditional Kaiseki dining experience in Kyoto and an exclusive tour of an artisan sake brewery in Kobe through Klook.

Viator Vs Klook

Both Viator and Klook are reputable platforms offering a stack of travel activities and services. Generally, Klook excels at travel passes, attraction tickets and an expanding selection of restaurant bookings and deals. Viator specializes more in Tours and Experiences and has a more generous cancelation policy.

So the choice between the two often boils down to personal preference, destination, and the type of activity sought:

  • Coverage : While both platforms have a wide reach, Klook tends to have a stronger presence in Asian destinations, while Viator, being older and a subsidiary of TripAdvisor, has extensive listings globally.
  • Pricing : Prices can vary between the two platforms. It’s often recommended to compare prices for the same activity on both platforms.
  • User Experience : Some users might prefer Klook’s modern interface, while others might lean towards Viator due to its integration with TripAdvisor reviews.

In essence, both platforms have their strengths, and the best choice might depend on the specific needs of the traveler.

How To Buy Japan Rail Passes With Klook?

klook travel legit

Japan’s rail system is legendary. If you’re heading there, a Japan Rail Pass can be a godsend, allowing unlimited travel on most of the country’s extensive rail network. Buying a pass might seem a bit confusing at first, but with Klook, it’s pretty straightforward. Here’s a quick guide on how to secure your JR Pass using Klook:

  • Choose Your Pass : Start by heading to the Japan Rail Pass page on Klook’s Website . Depending on your travel itinerary, select the type of pass you want—nationwide or regional. Remember, there are several regional passes like the Hokkaido Rail Pass, Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass, and more.
  • Select Duration & Class : JR passes come in different durations, typically 7, 14, or 21 days. Also, you can choose between the ordinary class and the first-class (green car) for a more luxurious experience.
  • Complete the Booking : Once you’ve made your selection, proceed to checkout. Fill in the traveler details, double-check everything, and make the payment.
  • Receive the Exchange Voucher : Instead of getting the actual JR Pass immediately, you’ll receive an Exchange Voucher. This is pretty standard procedure. Remember to print out this voucher and keep it safe!
  • Exchange the Voucher in Japan : When you land in Japan, head to a JR Pass exchange office (they’re found in most major train stations and airports). Hand over your Exchange Voucher, show your passport (it’s crucial), and you’ll receive your actual JR Pass. The staff will also ask you to specify the start date of your pass.
  • Ride the Rails! : With your JR Pass in hand, you’re free to explore Japan! Some trains might require seat reservations, so check in advance. Most shinkansen (bullet trains) and express trains have non-reserved seating sections, but if you want a guaranteed seat or are traveling during peak times, a reservation might be wise.

And that’s it! With Klook, the process of getting a JR Pass is simplified, ensuring you spend less time on logistics and more time soaking in the beauty of Japan.

Booking Hotels with Klook

klook travel legit

Klook is renowned for its tour and activity bookings, but over the years, they’ve expanded their services, which now include hotel bookings . Their hotel platform isn’t as expansive as some of the dedicated hotel booking platforms, but it’s growing steadily. One of the advantages of booking hotels through Klook is the possibility of bundling experiences and accommodations. For instance, while booking a hotel in Bali, I could also conveniently book a full-day tour of Ubud or a Balinese cooking class.

The process is standard: select your destination, input your check-in and check-out dates, and browse through the available options. Each listing provides detailed information about the hotel, including amenities, photos, and guest reviews. Once you’ve made your choice, you proceed to payment, and a confirmation is sent directly to your email.

Is Klook a Travel Agency?

Klook operates more as a travel service platform than a traditional travel agency. While traditional agencies often curate and sell package holidays or offer personalized trip planning services, Klook primarily acts as a bridge connecting travelers with local operators and service providers. Their platform aggregates various travel-related services, from tours and activities to transport and accommodations, which users can book directly.

Is it Safe to Book on Klook?

Booking on Klook is as safe as booking on any other reputable online platform. They use secure payment gateways, ensuring that users’ financial information remains confidential. On top of that, the vouchers and confirmations are typically sent promptly upon booking.

As with any platform, it’s advisable to read the terms and conditions, especially regarding cancellations and refunds. It’s also beneficial to read previous customer reviews for the specific activity or service you’re interested in; these reviews can provide insight into the quality and reliability of the offering.

Using Klook in Japan

Japan is a popular destination with a stack of experiences, and Klook offers a wide variety of activities and services in the country. From booking the aforementioned JR Rail Pass to reserving spots in unique experiences like tea ceremonies in Kyoto, owl cafes in Tokyo, or hiking tours on Mt. Fuji, Klook has it all.

One of the significant advantages of using Klook in Japan is the convenience. Many local experiences in Japan might have language barriers, but by booking through Klook, you often get English-speaking guides or clear instructions in English, ensuring a smooth experience. On top of that some exclusive experiences or tickets, like the Studio Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, can be hard to come by, but Klook sometimes offers special access or easier booking processes for such sought-after attractions.

Cons of Using Klook

Like any platform, Klook has its drawbacks:

  • Cancellation Policies : Some activities have strict cancellation policies, making it challenging if plans change last minute.
  • Service Fees : Occasionally, Klook might include service or booking fees which can increase the total price of an activity.

Customer Reviews of Klook

Customer reviews of Klook are generally positive. Users often praise the platform’s ease of use, the range of offerings, and the competitive prices. The instant confirmation feature, where users receive immediate vouchers after booking, is particularly appreciated.

However, like all platforms, there are occasional negative reviews, often tied to specific experiences or services rather than the platform as a whole. Issues might arise from cancellations by local operators or misunderstandings about activity details. It’s always recommended to read through the reviews for specific activities of interest to get a balanced view.

  • Reliance on Third-Party Providers : As Klook acts as a platform connecting travelers with local providers, the quality of experiences largely depends on these third-party operators.

  • Flexible Cancellation Policies : Some activities have a more lenient cancellation policy, allowing for full refunds if canceled within a specified time frame before the activity date.
  • Strict Cancellation Policies : Other activities, especially those that require significant preparation or have limited slots, might have stricter policies where cancellations close to the date result in partial refunds or no refund at all.
  • No Show : Typically, if a customer doesn’t show up for an activity without prior cancellation, no refund is given.

To initiate a refund, users typically need to log into their Klook account, navigate to the specific booking, and follow the cancellation/refund procedures. Refunds are generally processed to the original payment method.

Is Klook a travel agent?

Klook isn’t a traditional travel agent. Instead, it operates as an online travel platform or marketplace. While traditional travel agents curate and sell travel packages and might offer personalized trip planning services, Klook acts as a mediator connecting travelers with local tour operators, attractions, and other travel-related service providers. Users can directly book a wide range of activities and services via Klook, often at discounted prices.

How long does it take for Klook to confirm a booking?

The majority of bookings on Klook are confirmed instantly. As soon as a booking is made and payment is processed, users typically receive a voucher or confirmation email immediately.

However, there are instances, especially for unique or highly sought-after activities, where confirmation might take longer. In such cases, the activity’s listing will specify that there’s a waiting period for confirmation. If there’s a delay beyond the expected time, it’s advisable to contact Klook’s customer service for clarification.

Klook & international fees

Klook itself doesn’t charge international fees. However, when making a booking in a currency different from your credit card’s currency, your bank or credit card issuer might charge a foreign transaction fee. It’s always a good idea to check with your bank or credit card company about any potential international or foreign transaction fees before making a booking.

From popular tourist destinations like Paris and New York to more remote locales, Klook’s reach is continually expanding.

1. What is Klook?

Founded in 2014, Klook is an online booking platform with more than 60,000 activities in 250 major destinations around the world. Short for “ Keep Looking ”, the platform is one of the leading brands today that makes each traveler’s trip more easy and fun.

You are free to personalize each trip and plan everything as you wish. From their long list of activities in each tour destination, you will come up with your itinerary at a very affordable price.

They cover almost everything from local tours and food options to rail tickets and airport transfers – you name it, they have it.

Personally, we have been using them mainly in Asia, like Taiwan and Japan . It works really well and is so useful!

You can also download their app on your iOS and Android phones.

2. Advantages of using Klook

Being used by many, and by us, too, here are the advantages of using the site that might convince you to plan your next itinerary with them.

  • Instant confirmation

One of the things we love is how fast you can get tickets without stress and hassle. In an instant, you will receive your voucher once you have completed the booking process.

This is perfect for those who need booking right then and there.

  • No long queues

Once you get your tickets confirmed, you are ready to go. You will no longer need to stay in long lines to buy tickets and wait for your turn.

You’re always good to go. Not to mention, in some destinations like Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan, there are designated Klook queues that allow you to enter faster.

  • Booking is fast and easy

Klook offers very easy to follow steps that make each transaction smooth and fast. Steps are as easy as one, two, three. You just have to create an account, choose the activities you’re interested in, pay, and Viola! You’re ready to go!

  • Personalized itinerary

Whether you have an itinerary planned or activities in mind, you can always search for these. And whatever it is, you will find it there. Or if not, you can click on the destination you’re planning to visit and check out the activities available for you.

We can personalize our trips even with booking activities. We can always choose what we like, how much budget we have, and where we are planning to go.

Even more, each activity comes with complete details like the description, package details, and instructions which makes you decide easier and faster. There are also reviews for each activity to help you weigh up what is what.

Plus, they have featured travel inspirations from their Blog that can give a glimpse of where you’re going and what exactly you should do.

  • Payments are made easy

There are several payment methods available in Klook from credit to debit card to Paypal and more. But as a growing booking platform, the site has made more payment methods available especially those in various local markets.

Other payment methods supported by other regions include Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, online banking, and more.

Payment methods can also vary depending on the location. For example, in the Philippines, locals can pay over-the-counter for online transactions in Dragonpay.

  • Excellent customer service

Another thing we look for in a booking platform is their responsiveness when it comes to customer service.

They have several customer support teams that are available in different methods. You can reach them below.

  • 24-Hour Live Chat – If you’re browsing in a desktop, you can reach them at their website  and message them at the bottom right corner.
  • Ask Klook – Fill-out and submit issues or queries at Ask Klook inquiry form
  • Email – Send them an email at support(at)klook.com
  • Klook Hotline – At the bottom part of your voucher are listed numbers for customer service. Dial and drop them a call.
  • No printing needed

With today’s technology, Klook helps save mother earth by going paperless. With just your mobile e-voucher, you are free to enter the attraction without needing to print your voucher unless stated.

You can save it on the app so you will be able to show it even without the use of your data.

  • Great Deals

Among other booking platforms today, Klook competitively offers one of the best rates. Not to mention the price guarantee and 60% off retail prices.

  • Unique Offers as well – My Own Experience with Klook

Yes, I already covered great deals. But I want to mention this unique offer as well. When I arrived to Taiwan, more precise Taipei , I needed a 4G SIM Card. Klook offered an incredible deal!

I booked it online, and picked up the 4G Sim Card from the Airport. BAM! I had 4 times more data than my hostel mates. No need to say, but many of my hostel mates as well changed their SIM since they stayed longer in the country.

My point is, it is worth it to check it as well as other sites. Some sights really have some gems, like unique tours, experiences, offers, you name it.

This is why we always use several websites, not just one. This goes for booking hotels and hostels, booking flights and finding tours.

For tours and experiences we check:

  • Get Your Guide

For hotels and hostels we check:

  • Hostelz.com
  • Hostelworld.com
  • Booking.com

For flights we check:

This step is only applicable to those who have promo codes or Klook credits. Enter the promo code or redeem credits before you pay for your items. And remember that you can only use one promo code per each booking. However, you can use the promo code together with your credits.

With more than 250 destinations around the world, around 60,000 activities, and many third-party partners, we can say this site is safe and legit. And add over 5 million verified user-generated reviews.

Important : We also used them and booked our SIM Card with them in Taiwan!

So this is a first-hand experience!

Not to mention the features they got from reputable publications such as Forbes, Travel Daily News, CNBC, Wall Street Journal, and more. And we all know if it is to be featured in these publications, it’s always something big.

9. Is it worth to try Klook?

If you believe in our word, we will certainly say it’s worth to try them. Among the thousands of verified ratings given on Klook, we are one with them when they said that Klook is one best booking partners you can find on the internet.

With its credibility, it has proven its name through its year of service and we were part of that. We have purchased several activities and SIM Cards here and it has never failed us. Aside from that it’s cheap, the process is very smooth and instant.

In a matter of seconds, you’re good to go. So if ever that your bookings have late-changes or cancellations, Klook is your instant hero. But why the need to risk your trip to uncertain platforms if you can trust Klook in the first place?

Plus, the activities are fun and interesting. Reviews also come with actual trip photos so you know what to expect.

10. Klook vs Airbnb vs GetYourGuide vs Tiqets.com

As you know by now, Klook is a great booking platform for unique tours, experiences and sightseeing in general.

Yet, it is obviously not the only one in the online world. So, how is the site doing compared to the other players? We want to offer a quick and simple comparison.

Airbnb Experiences vs Klook

Airbnb is a huge player and it is always worth considering them. They really offer super unique tours (and accommodation).

It is really hard to compare both. Both websites offer cool and unique tours. I would say, Airbnb offers more, personal tours and experiences while Klook has as well the touristic highlights you want to experience when in town.

Have a look for instance at airbnb experiences in New York City. You can find anything from photo shootings with an influencer, to private yoga and zen classes as well as bike tours.

Klook on the other hand has a bit more touristic character for New York City . You can find museums entrances, river cruises and sights. It is worth it checking both when traveling!

Airbnb Experiences

GetYourGuide vs Klook

GetYourGuide is a big European player. You can book many sights and different types of tickets for the same sight.

For instance the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Here you can find 5 different tickets. You can have a tower climb included or a guided tour. You can even choose to have a audio guide and so on. So this is really handy.

As for the cons about Get Your Guide, well, it is really only fantastic for traveling Europe. When I was in Taiwan and South-East Asia, it was not as useful. Here Klook gets more points from our side.

klook travel legit

Tiqets.com vs Klook

Tiqets.com is a relatively small player, compared to GetYourGuide and Airbnb Experiences. Yet, it is a cool travel booking site to use. They mainly offer tours and sights for key destinations like Amsterdam and Berlin.

While this is a disadvantage, you can find good deals for these major destinations. So in that sense, it is worth taking a look at Tiqets.com as well.

✏️ Read our Editorial Guidelines

While Klook is very easy to use they have extremely disappointing/disgusting customer care and will waste your time and your money!

Booked for transport to airport from BKK hotel and driver did not show up. Had to find alternative transport last minute which cost much more. Reached out to Klook for refund and after 4 days still no near resolution to the matter. My hotel is on a narrow side road where it is only one way in or out. If the driver was there, he cannot be missed. This service is unreliable and non responsive. Would not recommend anyone to use it at all.

Here is my experience:

During a trip to Sydney, we booked a rental car company through Klook at the Sydney Airport. The process was efficient, and the price appeared reasonable. We booked for a flight landing at 16:30, and included this information on the reservation times and booking information.

On the day of our arrival, we were greeted with a text message from the rental company indicating that our rental must picked up by 17:00 at a location that was offsite from the airport. This is despite the site having intentionally misleading information that the booking was direct from the airport, and failing to include any information about the shuttle. This resulted in an expensive taxi fare ($54.39) in order to rush to the office in time to pick up our car.

After reaching out to Klook, their response was to send the shuttle information (too late) which also included the incorrect operating hours for the shuttle (until 18:00 on Sundays, which was incorrect). Their response was to first tell me that:

1. I simply didn’t read the paperwork correctly 2. After further discussion and proof of missing information, to offer me a Klook credit in the amount of $10 (less than 20% of the cost of the taxi).

In summary, avoid booking with Klook at all costs. They won’t back up any mistakes to your bookings, and you will be left figuring out travel yourself. Read the other reviews online which confirm this. Save yourself the headache from our experience, and book with a reputable company.

I had a similar experience with train tickets – they claimed I must have just presented the wrong voucher, wrong email, etc., when I went to pick up the tickets I paid for through their website, despite the fact that I had to purchase entirely new tickets because nothing they gave me worked, and their customer service was genuinely horrendous. I tried reaching out through their website and they kept emailing my husband who isn’t the account holder, and when I just asked them to cancel the voucher and refund me the money, they said that they needed proof that the rail office wouldn’t accept their voucher.

Then they claimed that I needed to show the printed out voucher that I had cut in half, NOT to work through the official Payment vendors, not to work through my credit card company, etc., before they’d do anything. Literally, the single worst travel company I have ever had the misfortune to purchase any vacation stuff through.

It’s clear that they must have paid someone to get this review, because Trustpilot and several other websites document these horrendous experiences in detail and all Klook will say in response is “well, we’re sorry this was your experience.” No offer to rectify, no attempts to resolve, nothing.

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your first-hand experience. I know these experiences are frustrating; been there with some other companies. Personally, I never had an issue with Klook yet. And I have used them to purchase SIM Cards in Taiwan and for tours around South-East Asia. We had only good experiences with Klook, the last one being a DMZ Tour in Seoul.

Regarding the suggestion that someone may have been paid for a review, I can assure you that we have not engaged in any such practices. If this article would be paid or sponsored, it would be labeled as such. Our reviews are genuine and reflect our personal experiences. In fact, we make it a point to provide honest feedback on different platforms, even, no, especially when we have encountered issues . This is also why we think it’s a great idea to leave the comment section open for all the other travelers sharing their experience here, too.

Safe travels, Matt

Klook Travel Activities Platform Review – Is This A Scam?

Updated on Dec 11, 2019 by Tuan Do

In the past year, I’ve seen a lot of new travel activities and services booking platforms and Klook is among the most popular ones. I also checked out some of their competitors like KKday but Klook has the most impressive interface and it is easy to browse and book services.

On the homepage, you can search by destination, activity or attraction. Besides, it will also show you some top destinations, popular activities, and curated suggestions based on seasons, festivals and interests. If you’ve already known your destination, you can just type it in and search for all available activities and services. I really love how they present all the content on this page.

klook travel legit

Instead of presenting all the available services in a list, you can see different sections for travel tips, popular activities, featured content and guides, and discover some interesting activities. I used the service for my trip to Taipei and it is very convenient. I booked a WiFi hotspot with included 4G SIM card, tickets to some attractions, and even vouchers at restaurants. You can also use the Klook app on iPhone or Android to book the service; The app is also helpful when you need to show the purchased tickets.

Everything went smoothly until we asked for a refund. We bought a ticket for Maokong Gondola, however, we couldn’t use the service on that day due to bad weather. We arrived at the destination and there was a notice next to the MRT exit. That was a windy day and they decided to suspend the service.

klook travel legit

Later, I contacted Klook to request a refund and I was totally disappointed with the customer service. The support team is unresponsive and I had to wait 1-2 days for a response. The first email says:

Thanks for your patiently waiting. We have heard from our local operator that for the booking that we could not able to refund since you contacted us late and time is past. Hope your kindest understanding!

I explained the situation and provided the picture above to prove that I couldn’t use the service. After a few days, I received another email:

With regards to your concern for the booking for Maokong Gondola Combo Ticket in Taipei. Please be advised that this is an open dated ticket and you may utilize the ticket on any other date just as long as it is with in the validity date of the ticket which is until March 31, 2019.

The customer service is really terrible. I left Taiwan and wouldn’t come back here next year, so there is no way I could use the tickets. I sent another email asking for a refund but they never responded.

I had good impressions when booking services on Klook but the horrible customer service ruined it all. This is not a scam since I could use all the other tickets but I will try other services due to the bad experience. The average saving of around 10-20% is really not worth the time you have to deal with refunds.

My flight got cancelled yesterday because of mechanical default. I am waiting for a flight now to go to Narita instead of Narita. Klook is a waste of space. Do not fall for them. I lost a kansai lino transfer, Haruka 300+VIP wristband, express 4 and e-ticket. Avoid this peopke at all cost. Their is no honour in this company. They dishonored customers and pocketed money on hard earning people. Obviously, they don’t reply to your enquiries. If they do. They just shove you on the side and they would not give two hoots about your situation. I would rather directly prefer to deal directly on an honest competitive company. A real face to face enquiries. It is mostly done on internet with no real.person to take to on video calls. And there is no such thing as refund.

i recently had a similar problem. my fiancee and i were on standby and at the last minute the flight was overbooked. i ordered the puroland tickets and 4 orders of the 72 hours metro pass. i asked for a refund and the responded saying they needed proof that we did not get on the plane. i got a letter from american airlines them selves saying we didnt get on. then they asked for the standby list and our boarding passes. of course i had it and sent it them. after days of no reply, i already know where this is heading. horrible customer service. i do not encourage anybody getting tickets from these people. if anything were to happen you will not get your money back. they keep it. i deleted my account.

Klook They have money sucking machine. If your english not good enough dont buy trough it. They will shallow your money with no time.

I have family that use klook to malaysia. Buy sunway lagoon tickets. It is note in a very small letter you cannot buy more than 10 tickets. We buy 21 tickets. Were they wrong? Yes ofcource. But klook dont have mechanism to prevent you to buy more than 10. They will accept your money and then they will reject all of the tickets. Yes not just the 11 ones but all 21 ticket.

Then they said will refund the money. Untill now there is not a single email from them.

Good job klook. You dont it again.

After much trauma created by klook… i am here by left with no option but to write a review for klook singapore here…. I must say that klook has detrioted a lot..with pathetic handling of issues…and unsensitive teams…and above all wrong vouchers and pathetic vendors they have in their list…. I took few vouchers before going to singapore via klook…. first a taxi service…for airport pickup .which never arrived… And klook refunded the money for rhat…but beacuse of klook i had a wonsderful welcome at singapore ..and had to wait three hours at airport…after 6 hours of flight….while their mismangement wasted my time… And cld not resilve the issue with vendor…infact velived on liar vendor… As for them the customer is alsways wrong…they have pilicy like this now it sems… Secondly… Their multipass is on no use..infact its a fraud… U will get only one activity out of it…as with their voucher u will be unable to book any other activity…and they wont solve the issue in time…even putting in their knowledge… And wont wven return the money for that… So dont book any service from rhem…nor take any multivoucher from them… And dont expect they will solve any issue of urs in time…. So think before u take any voucher from them… Ur money can be total lost…the klook is not the same…and they have morons in their team…who are highly unqualified and unable to handle things in time…. And it seems klook itself is foing frauds…. After rhe covid times… So try someother service… As it will create a trauma for u if u book via them

Avoid at all cost!! Airport transport

I iterally booked a commercial van on 22/5/2022 (Mercedes Benz V class or similar) considering my baggages before my trip from Hong Kong to London. The vehicle type and the picture of the vehicle shown in the confirmation from klook were exactly what I needed and what I expected. Hence, I thought that it was all done.

Afterward, Taxi2Airport and MiniCabRide were sending me wrong booking details saying 4 passengers and 4 luggage, obviously they got wrong message so that I didn’t confirm them. Nobody reached out to me for clarification and apparently my booking requirement to Klook was somehow distorted.

When my family including 2 kids arrived Heathrow Airport, I didn’t see the driver Meet and Greet so that I gave him a call. The gentlemen appeared 10 mins later and said we had too many baggage when he first came. He said that his vehicle was capable for 4 people and 4 baggage only. I was wondering why he drove a small car because I booked a commercial van ( Mercedes Benz or similar) and showed him my booking confirmation from Klook.

After he realised that I had booked a commercial van, he communicated with his company and promised me his company would send me another driver and a van. Then he was gone and left me in the airport. My family sat in the arrival hall for almost an hour but nobody contacted me. Then, I reached out to the driver’s company MiniCabRide, I explained my situation to a lady operator but she said she had no available driver and vehicle around.

It was an awful experience with Klook. I needed and booked a commercial van from Klook. Unfortunately, it was a small car picking us up in the airport. Having said that, we were travelling with kids as a family of four, carrying our baggages after a long haul flight. The communication mistake and incorrect booking requirement flow led to a nightmare to my family. The driver said there would be another driver and big vehicle come, the lady operator told me no driver nor vehicle would come. We felt being cheated, left abandoned in the airport, no support provided. At the end, I sorted it out by myself even I had been charged.

I contacted to Klook by apps chat and email requesting for refund because they did not provide service to us. Yet, 21 days passed, they said that no refund!!

Updated on 24/6/2022: One month passed, still no refund, no updated news!! It’s definitely a scam!

Updated on 5/7/2022 (midnight): 42 days passed, I was asked to provide the receipts of my own transport to Klook since they provided NO service and NO support to me. I provided all as they requested. However, Klook still did not refund to me at all!

Updated on 5/7/2022 (AM): Reply from Klook, they asked me to provide a picture of wrong vehicle that the local operator provided. The thing was, the driver NEVER showed me any car on site, he just verbally “drove a small car”. How can I show to Klook that the local operator did not provide me any service? I already provided the receipts of my own transport, how can I further provide the proofs that things were never exist?

I utilized all of my efforts and time to request refund by Live chats and emails since 24/5/2022, but no one sincerely encountered me and listened me. What Klook do is persistently asking me to provide proof. 42 days passed, the receipts of my own transport were given, thousands of patience and reassurance were shown, but still, NO REFUND at all!

Feb 10, 2019 at 6:42 am

Used Klook to book a meal package for Hong Kong Disneyland and it had a long list of restaurants that are included. To redeem the offer you have to surrender the certificated at the entrance of Disneyland where you’re given a new voucher that doesn’t list what restaurants are in vs out. For dinner we accidentally went to a place that was not on the approved list, even though it was cheaper than the place we went for lunch (which was on the list) and even though nothing about the description or location of the restaurant suggested it wouldn’t count. We ended up having to pay for our meal plus being unable to redeem the rest of our Klook voucher. Klook did absolutely nothing to help us and put the blame on Disney. Given that I gave my money to Klook, I expected them to make things right. The bottom line here is that when Klook inevitably misleads you, they will do nothing to fix the situation. Don’t risk it.

DO NOT USE THEY ARE A SCAM!

Absolutely disgusting service and they have ruined my 30th Birthday!!! We came to celebrate my 30th in Dubai and decided to book tickets to the Burj through them.

Purchased the tickets to see the Burj on my bday and they couldn’t accommodate on the time I specifically paid for and they gave me very very late hours. I was even amenable to see the Burj a day later. I picked a time and they never got back to me and didn’t receive a ticket. I have chased them and chased them (both via email and FB) and never received a response from them.

I have had to now pay for another two tickets directly from the Burj to see it before we fly out thanks to this disgusting untrustworthy company who have absolutely ruined my damn 30th. So I’ve paid twice to see the Burj and only seeing it once!

I will be pressing legal action and I will leave reviews on every website possible so people are not scammed!!!!!

Nov 5, 2019 at 7:04 am

If you contine to pin your hopes on one single experience to meet your expectations, unfortunately you’ll leave yourself with little margin for error. In the future, why not simply buy multiple tickets for different events, or at the very least give yourself that option, a hedge if you will? This will cover you for those black swan events, which we never see coming.

Cheating service We bought 3 tickets to Atlantis Aquaventure on 22 February 2019 which cost 810 UAD and upon ticket counter at the Atlantis they told me these vouchers have been used by someone else. I had to call Singapore office and they offered no help. I asked Klook staff to talk to Atlantis staff to certify the case. I had to buy 3 new tickets and I wrote to Klook many times to request for refund but now 3 weeks have passed they have not sent the refund to my account. Anybody know how I can claim my money back, should I write to Hongkong Tourism authorities? Appreciate your advice Christy

Mar 28, 2019 at 5:33 pm

Don’t be fooled by the sleek marketing–this travel company does not have your best interest in mind. The flashy Ask Klook feature is supposed to be their 24/7 customer support, but you don’t get a reference number when you submit an issue. This means there is no tracking system for the issues they receive, which gives you an idea how much value they put on customer experience… zero! For all we know, the only people on the other side are the web designer and app developer.

Jul 31, 2019 at 12:45 am

Oh about that Ask Klook feature, they really have super rude customer officer. The fella just left the chat halfway when he could not answer one of my enquiry. How rude.

Apr 2, 2019 at 2:24 am

Klook is a fraud. They will not refund your money even if you cancel the activity. I had booked an airport transfer. My flights got delayed and I informed them well in advance. They asked mr for the flight delay details, I gave that, but there is no response from them after that. I have been chasing them for 1 month now, but seems like they are not in a mood to refund it. Another instance, I booked a private charter car for 10 hours. They ask me for the places which I want to visit and then ask me for an additional 30 usd / idr 450000 / inr 2200 apart from the normal price. Do not use, this is a fraud. They have a lot of hidden costs and forget about your refund. There is no refund of the amount paid by you.

I purchased Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Immigration VIP Fast-Track Service For 20 Mar 2019 Booking number: KFM868719

FRAUD in one word FRAUD !!!!

I booked this service for me, my wife and my child, I paid for total of 3 persons.

my flight was on time, and there was absolutely no one on airport from Klook. I spent around 30 minutes asking to different counters showing the Klook voucher, button one had clue about this.

Finally I reached the Fast track counter, and I got in a long line, and after about 30 more minutes, I was attended by immigration officer, and I had to pay 200 Bhat x 3 = 600 Bhat just like everyone else.

Frankly I thought that I would get the refund for sure, because usually these companies are reliable and customer friendly. but on sharing the email. I was told that I used the services, so there can not be any refund. And ironically they removed the service from there portal as soon as I emailed them.

I Challenge KLOOK to prove that I have used the services, and I will pay double the amount

its cheating and Fraud from this company . pls avoid this SCAM.

when there is a no show from a customer than Klook charges us the full amount. but when there is a no show from Klook, than there is no response.

SCAM FRAUD AVOID

Apr 6, 2019 at 9:15 am

I would avoid it like the plague. I’ve tried to purchase tickets from them 3 times because their listings were always cheapest. Every time, the site shows tickets available, takes my money, then emails me saying the tickets aren’t available. They hold your money for over a month and claim they have no control over refund timelines because it’s up to your credit card’s bank. However, this last time I got so tired of their scam I called customer service and they refunded my money that same day. They DO have control over it. It’s a scam. That’s why it’s so cheap. They “offer” and sell tickets, but at ridiculous unusable times in lieu of the times you actually bought online, such as an 11am departure and 1pm return from an island trip. WTF?! I bought a 9am departure and 5pm return.

Do not use Klook.

My recent experience when booking tickets through them: Klook took the money right away and did not make the booking for days, even when I followed up daily. I had advised them that I had accomodation and travel plans already paid so it was critical that they get the tickets. By the time someone at Klook tried, the tickets were sold out. All they did was just refund the cost, no other consideration or explanation. Their 24/7 ‘support’ were useless, all their chat representatives could do was apologise and leave a message for their ‘booking team’.

Dear fellow travellers and travelholics, do reconsider the next time you purchase any Klook tickets when you are overseas. Me n a group of friends were in Dubai, all ready to enjoy our day in a water theme park, and purchased our tickets from klook. To our horror, this screen came up! The tickets were reprinted, meaning it has already been used! We had no choice but to call Klook to ask them to reissue the tickets, and we were made to verify with the venue crew, pass the phone to the venue crew to reverify, and PUT ON HOLD FOR 20 mins ON LONG DISTANCE, and they still did not find a solution for us. We were in limbo OUTSIDE the park for an hour, and when we were done (we had to repurchase normal tickets over the counter, as Klook had NO solution for us), the park was so crowded and all our plans for the day were thrashed. Worst thing is? The phone bill came up to SGD 358. And Guess what? Our dear “Friend” klook refused to reimburse us the phone bill. So please, do think twice before using Klook next time when you’re overseas, you never know when you’re gonna get USED tickets from them, and need to pay a bomb to try to rectify THEIR error, and waste a whole lot of your precious travel time.

They charged me for an unconfirmed booking and I have to keep following up with them for booking status. As my trip is coming soon and i decided to look for alternative tour, so i contacted the customer service to cancel the booking and request for a refund. So now I have to follow up for the refund! booked chiang mai night safari combo package from klook, unable to redeem voucher as we decided not to use part of the service, had to buy new tickets to enter safari, later unable to get refund as klook says i did not use the full service. see communication chain below:

from me: I understand that you have to abide with local operators rules. But please use common logic and explain to them: First of all I am purchasing for two services, one is the safari ticket, and one is the shared transfer, I do not understand that if I bought two things why I cannot just use one? and when I used neither services why I cannot get a refund? Secondly I did not use the shared transfer because 1) I want to catch the 3pm day safari ride but the pick up time says 3:15pm to 3:30pm, and 2) no where on my purchase says that I *must* use the shared transfer in order to get my entry tickets, my voucher only says “ticket with transfers: you can present either printed or mobile voucher”, which I did at the entry ticket counter. I think that as a travel services provider you should understand that my concerns above are reasonable.

klook: Regarding the [SALE] Chiang Mai Night Safari Park, you have selected the All-Area Ticket + Shared Transfer (Special Promotion) which includes both ticket and shared transfer. Since you selected with the shared transfer, you need to use it to make sure you were able to get inside the park. As per how to use information, you will only be able to collect the physical tickets at the ticket counter if you select for ticket package option only. While the ticket with transfers, you can present directly the voucher either printed or mobile, but this can be presented to the driver in the name that booked with transfers. The ticket and shared transfer you booked is a combo package, not separate. We’re sorry but we cannot refund the booking due to this situation and aside from that, it’s already beyond the cancellation period.

me: 1) Again the “how to use” information does not state that a customer must redeem my ticket from the driver. In fact it doesn’t even have the word driver in it. Any one with beginner level education in English would naturally assume to present the voucher the ticket counter because the “ticket with transfers” section says presenting my printed or mobile voucher would suffice, and as the target of presentation is missing, one would naturally assume to present voucher at the ticket counter as the sentence follows a phrase describing “Night safari Park ticket counter”. A normal response from customer service would have been an acknowledgement of the flaws in the information provided and the intention to correct it, not another highlight of how you senselessly believe the vaguely written information was correct by adding your own explanation. If it is that crucial to note why didn’t the information say “Shared tickets must be redeemed from the driver” in the first place? Then I or another sensible customer wouldn’t have fell into this trap. 2) Whether or not it is a combo package or separate, I am still paying for two things. Have you ever tried to buy a McDonald’s combo meal with french fries and burger, and selectively not eat the burger? Of course you have, this is very common consumer phenomenon. 3) The cancellation period was 24 hours *before* the voucher date. The need to ask for a refund in this scenario came *after* the voucher date. So I do not see how the cancellation period that serves as an option for customers who bought the vouchers but decide not to use it affect your decision whether you can refund someone who wants to use the voucher on the designated date but wasn’t allowed to. Please have someone fluent in English read this email. Your arguments are flawed and do not provide a satisfactory response to my needs.

klook: We understand your sentiment but the result is the same. We are unable to process a refund because you booked a shared transfer and you missed the transfer and you were tagged as a no show for the booking.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to use this site. We purchased tickets for Osaka Universal and then saw we had the date wrong. Asked to change the date to a few days earlier and like mentioned before had to wait 1-3 days for the “customer service” to reply. In the end they told us we could use it on another day at that price point. This didn’t help as we were no longer in the area. We were more than willing to pay the difference of the tickets we just needed the day to be changed. Our one day Universal trip cost us double. Poor poor customer service would tell people to wait until they are in country or simply avoid Klook!

My effiel tower experience was really bad. I booked 7 tickets for my and my friend family members for effiel tower. The tickets were booked and confirmation was received from klook for this event. The tour was of 11.15 am on 25th june 2019 and we reached operator place at 11.00 am.

After reaching at operator place we got surprise that they told us we are late and our trip has already left.  We showed our print out and also mail but they said klook has changed the time and they can’t help. We said we have not been informed regarding the change in time and we want out refund but they said they can’t help and we have to talk to klook only.

They gave us tickets and said you can request effiel tower security for entry and they may allow. We really felt very angry and left the operator place.

We waisted out time and money in effiel tower expedition and then we move to our other tour. We had very bad experience for effiel tower.

Now after comming we have raised several mail to you centre and already 10 days has passed but no strong action against operator or any compensation amount.

1). We booked with KLook with transportation from Changi airport to hotel, Singapore. Our flight from Seattle to Vancouver was delayed that we missed our following flights. At Vancouver, we contacted KLook to cancel the original pick up schedule and arrange a new one based on the rescheduled flight.. But KLook responded with out of touch questions like they have no idea on the standard workflow of how an airline handles missing flight customer and asked to prove left and right that is quite difficulty for any customer stocked on the road. Even we managed to email KLook the reissued board pass to confirm our arrival that is at least 12 hours prior the original airport pick up time . When we got the Changi airport after 36 hours trip, no KLook driver shew up. 2). We contacted KLook on June 29 around 9 am to cancel our book on June 30 12 noon from hotel to Changi airport that was 24 hours prior the activity as KLook ‘s term to cancel a service with full refund. But KLook refused with a new term that this cancellation must have been taken place before June 28 11:59 PM; 3). When we came back from Bali to Singapore on July 6,19, our flight arrived on time but driver booked through KLook was no show. We contacted with KLook and ended with letting us go airport taxi port. I won’t recommend KLook to anyone. We also found, at least in Singapore, taxi fare or ‘Grad a cab’ app are all better price than KLook.

Booked a tour in Jakarta last Sunday. Rushed my breakfast and wasted my Grab ride to the meeting point and there was no tour guide. Called the 24 hour hotline and any other possible way to contact to someone from Klook but unable to reach anyone. Till 3 hour later there was a respond mentioning the guide met with an accident and will do a refund. Till now there is no respond from Klook on the refund, ask the jakarta contact and mentioned that they had submitted to Klook and I have to look for them for a refund. Why do i have to seek high and low to have a refund?

This refund is not a form of apologies but a failure to render the service.

Klook (=Crook)

Paid for a voucher for a 1 day Onsen treatment in Bangkok, could not use the service and the venue itself agreed to cancellation.

Customer service at Klook is lame. Emails back and forth with super generic responses like “we are looking at the issue, we are working on this appropriately”. Non sense. Bottom line, they still have my money.

Buyers beware. DO NOT book with Klook (=Crook)

note to Crook’s reply: dealt with Customer service, got nowhere. Just a bunch of empty corporate messages.

I can’t but share my grievances against Klook service received in Oct 2019 and sincerely wish all who read my comment can think twice before considering Klook.

I’ve booked the tour of “Hitachi National Seaside Park and Mito Kairakuen Park Trip from Tokyo” expected to be held on 13 Oct.  To ensure timely arrival at the meet up point at 7:30am on the tour day, my mum (aged 87), my husband and I paid a site visit there on 10 Oct to get ourselves familiarized with the transport and know the exact travelling time.

Unfortunately Typhoon Hagibis struck northern Japan including Tokyo on 12 Oct. Whilst the Typhoon proved to be extraordinarily devastating, weather forecast for 13 Oct would be fine and sunny.  I checked with Klook twice on 12 Oct night if 13 Oct tour would continue.  I received the first reply at 17:37 saying “此預訂在系統上屬於確認狀態,如行程因天氣不佳而無法參與,供應商將會在出發前一天通知。如無收到任何郵件,煩請客人您正常前往集合地點集合。” (Meaning: Your reservation under our system is “confirmed” status. If due to bad weather that the tour cannot continue, the service provider will notify you one day earlier. If you have not received any mail, please proceed to meet-up point).

At 21:45, I wrote again “ I’ve not received any cancellation up till now, I assume the activity will still be conducted unless I receive your notification at a later stage”. At 21:57, their reply was “正確,客路希望一切順利進行,也希望您成功享受您的行程,擁有美好的一天! 如您有任何其他問題,請隨時聯繫我們。很榮幸能為您提供行程計劃的建議。” (Meaning: Correct.  Klook hopes everything will be fine and hopes you can enjoy the tour with a nice day! Do contact us for further questions. We are honored to have you in the trip.) With such confirmation, we went to bed peacefully.

On 13 Oct, we woke up at 5:30am and noted no Klook’s message. We then went for breakfast. Without receiving any cancellation notice after breakfast, we proceded to the meet-up point, hopingfor an enjoyable tour in that day. To our surprise, we could not see any Klook guide upon arrival.  Instead around 50 participants of various tours were waiting for their guides. All were frustrated, disappointed and angry of NOT being informed of any news beforehand. Only till we contacted Klook staff at the meet-up point that we were told of the cancellation.  Many participants including my mum, my husband and I had been waiting there till around 8am.

Klook later explained that “the local operator had a large amount of affected bookings to handle with so that can’t contact you in time”. With a full refund of tour fee and a “compensation” of HK$12 being travelling expense for each trip to the meet up point, Klook indicated that they could do nothing more.

We find it NOT acceptable and indeed I do not take the compensation for the travelling expenses. In accordance with the policy, Klook should inform us before 3pm one day earlier. Even worse is the favorable replies they gave in responses to our two enquires raised the night before. The worst is that no cancellation notice had been given prior to our leaving for the meet-up point early that morning. In addition, we met no Klook staff there, not to mention our hope for a nice tour after staying at the hotel during the typhoon day.

If you have the patience to read up till here, I earnestly urge all who are considering Klook to re-think if you are prepared for undergoing a painful experience like ours.  I feel sad of bringing my mum aged 87 such an unpleasant memory. Regrettably, she may not have another chance of visiting the Parks for the rest of her life!

Chan S F, You really can not blame a company for a typhoon disrupting your holiday. I myself was stranded in Narita airport on the day of this typhoon as JAL deposited me off my international flight and cancelled my connecting flight to Nagoya and I couldn’t travel anywhere as no domestic flights were operating and all roads & rail lines from Narita were closed. I was lucky that one of the train lines reopened after about 5 hours of being in the airport, so I caught a train to Ueno and stayed in a capsule hotel for the night then the next day got the Shinkansen to Nagoya.

Bottom line is: THAT IS WHAT TRAVEL INSURANCE IS FOR! You are foolish to travel internationally without travel insurance. I fell over and broke my arm on one trip and the travel insurance paid for my medical expenses as well as lost income as I couldn’t work for 3 months.

2nd option after travel insurance is you can challenge any tickets or anything else purchased on your credit card and it is up to the company to prove that you did receive the travel/tour/whatever that you paid for. This is true for credit card holders in Australia, but it varies depending on what country you are in so check with your credit card issuer or your country’s Consumer Affairs department or financial ombudsman etc.

Klook is a piece of sh!t. I had some issues with my vouchers and the customer service rep stopped replying to my emails. She did not bother resolving them and simply went AWOL.

Nov 14, 2019 at 10:47 am

I booked an activity in Hanoi using Klook. They (the app) didn’t show the service provider name until I finished payment. Once I got the service provider’s name (after payment), I decided to google it – and found really bad reviews. Within about 3 minutes of booking, I cancelled the booking but Klook wouldn’t refund me the money – citing the service provider’s “very strict” cancellation policy.

I would think twice before booking via Klook. Maybe a scam!

Had the similar experince. Its very disappointing.

Klook is good if the trip goes on perfectly without any glitch, but not when customer encounters emergency! Klook can’t resolve matters except to pass messages like a messenger.

In my recent trip to Tokyo, purchased a day tour to Mt Fuji. Everything was well frok purchase to issuance of vouchers. Not until the day of tour. I basically did a solo trip this time and when I checked Google Maps, how to get to meeting point, both subways and walking showed same duration which is approx 16min. I’d budgeted extra 30-40mins earlier to arrive because Japanese are extremely punctual and I don’t want to miss the tour!!! But somehow, first time for a frequent traveller like me, got lost in Tokyo?! Somehow GPS kept rerouting and the Jap guys dont speak English!! Some really helpful seniors attempted to help me but we couldn’t seem to converse. Every time I thought I m arriving and the meeting point is nearby, somehow I got further and further away. Meeting point is in Shinjuku VIP lounge, and I’d ended up nearby Tokyo Metropolitan Governments Building. Horrible! I looked at the time, I know no point to continue getting lost, I’d contacted Klook, the only number available, although the most sensible thing to do is to contact tour operator. But no numbers given. I kept my home country phone line on, so I could be contacted by the tour operator, but no calls. When I contacted Klook, they put me on hold and tried contacting the tour operator for me, but couldn’t get. The Klook officer attempted to guide me out of the place I am to the meeting point. I am still lost and panic of course, I just dont want to miss the tour to see Mt Fuji. During the 40 mins conversation , Klook officer only attempted to contact the tour operator and did not give me any numbers to call, still. We hung up as I get to the nearest taxi to send me to the meeting point, like finally.. Taxi ride in Japan is extremely expensive! I got there, nothing can be done as expected. The tour left. Klook called me back. I told him to assist to reschedule to the next day and let me know by end of the day, or request for refund. Sadly, he did not get back to me!!! I contacted Klook again, Klook kept informing me, waiting for reply … My stay in Tokyo is only short 4 days. Finally, Klook got back to me 2 days later, asking if I could make it the next day? I was already boarding to fly back to KL, MALAYSIA. If Klook haz given the tour operator number to me at the very first place when I called and informed I got lost, I am pretty sure I could still meet the tour operator wherever they are, as is 5-10mins past the departure time!!! But Klook did not. Until today the matter still unresolved. No refunds allowed only rescheduling allowed, which I am fine, but of course not the very immediate 3-6 months!!! Klook again, only transmitted message from the tour operator just like a messenger. The tour was supposed to be on 7 Nov. I am bound to be back to my home country on the 9 Nov. Today is 17 Nov, still nothing done to assist me. I am utterly disappointed and frustrated. Not only I missed the tour, I had to fork out additional monies for the extremely expensive phone call back to Klook Malaysia, costing me more than my day trip price, RM300, and now been told by Klook, my only avenue to go to, that sorry they cannot do anything.

Booking of tours is generally easy and fast. I’d booked my skyline ticket from Airport to City from Klook. It was OK, except for minor glitch where the skyline counter couldn’t read the voucher QR CODES, and I had to go to the office instead, but this is Ok! Because its convenient and easily accessible where the staffs, generally Japanese are very well mannered and accommodating. They attempted to help and assist to get the ticket issued.

I had similar incident. Their customer service is not really good. You will get the service as it is shown in the website, once you need to negotiate or make change in your booking they give a negative response. It seems they are not very experts in handling the situation once you decide to make any changes.

I booked a airport transportation from Hong Kong airport for 4 persons(2adults,2kids). Their website says the booking for group of 3. But other reviewers said they allowed extra kids, so i made the booking 48 hrs in advance just in case they refused i will be able to handle it. Then I was contact 5 hrs prior to my flight they asked for extra 35% for my 3years old son!!. I asked to cancel they said cancellations is allowed prior to 24 hrs of booking!!. So i had no choice, i paid the money. I made review in klook website, but my review was never posted!!

I tried their service in other tourist activity, it was reliable as far as I don’t make any change in the booking!!

So in summary, book but don’t change your booking. Avoid their customer service as much as you can , they are useless!

First found out they charged 7 dollars more a ticket and noticed all sold out through illusion house main page. I go back ask klook they finally say not booking because all sold out. K first why would you sell tickets that was sold out and take my money first. I believe that illegal which makes me believe we pay them then they go place after and buy the tickets off main place but in this case sold out. So I go cancel because they told me but could not. So I have go back them again talk and finally they cancel but can not get my money back up to a month that I needed right now on vacation. I ordered a car service from Klook. The description for this car service was ‘Mercedes Benz E-Class or Similar’. Even though it was more expensive than the other car services from Narita Airport to Tokyo, the thought of relaxing in the back of a luxury car for the 1 hour drive was worth it. Imagine my surprise when the car was a Toyota Alpha III van. This is the same as all the other services, and half of Tokyo’s taxi fleet. Driver also wanted to charge us a waiting fee – we had booked the car for 6 pm and this supposedly included 1 hour of wait time. However, the driver was trying to charge us from the moment we landed (at 5 pm). We had deliberately booked the car for 1 hour after we landed in order to clear customs and health screenings. In any case, once I showed him the reservation we got on our way.

I complained to Klook and to the vendor about the switch of cars and that I expected a refund of the difference between a regular transport (about $100) and the premium price I had paid for the premium service. I was informed that they both consider the Toyota Alpha III to be in the same class as the Mercedes Benz E-Class, and that no refund would be forthcoming. This is of course ridiculous since one is a luxury vehicle and the other a standard taxi in Japan. I’ve taken it up with my credit card and the consumer protection agencies of my state.

Needless to say, stay away from this vendor and this service. It’s a scam where they advertise a premium service at a premium price but ultimately only deliver a standard service.

DO NOT USE KLOOK! Read all of the comments on this page.

My personal experience was that Klook allowed us to book with a rental company. They provided misleading information indicating that the car was at the airport (it was not) and that there was a 24 hour shuttle (there was not). This resulted in taxi fares which were more expensive than the rental. Upon reaching out, they had no interest in revising their incorrect information or refunding the additional fares due to the information. Do yourself a favor and avoid them. Despite whatever this writer was paid to endorse them.
