This is the first time that I've seen the Inspector Cluzo in Manchester and hope that it's not the last. These two chaps really know how to entertain with a mixture of bluesy tracks and high energy funky punk, soul as well. They may have played for only an hour but it was highly entertaining for that time. Just a pity that Manchester and nearby surroundings haven't found this superb band yet as the turn out was pretty poor. I hope this doesn't put the band off from returning.

The Inspector Cluzo Announce First North American Tour

Including a lone Canadian date in Montreal

The Inspector Cluzo — the French blues-rock duo of Laurent Lacrouts and Mathieu Jourdain — have announced their first-ever North American tour behind 2023's HORIZON . Slated to take place this spring, the trek includes a lone Canadian stop in Montreal.

Following an Australian run opening for Robert Trujillo's Infectious Grooves, the pair hit North America starting May 1 in Nashville, TN. They'll venture to Canada for the penultimate stop, performing at Montreal's Cabaret Foufs on May 24 ahead of wrapping the stint on May 27 in New York, NY.

Following an incredible touring season in the summer of 2022, the DIY Gascon farmers The Inspector Cluzo, are thrilled to announce the release of their ninth studio album Horizon on 27th January 2023, via F.thebassplayer Records.

To coincide with the record announcement, the band is also launching the first single and video for the title track, which is available here.

Horizon comes after the critically acclaimed LP We The People Of The Soil (2018) and the live album Brothers In Ideals – We The People Of The Soil Unplugged (2020). Recorded in three weeks and produced by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell, Horizon is the deepest and truest album The Inspector Cluzo have written to date.

Each song shares and takes inspiration from real life events and experiences. For example: Wolfs At The Door, tells the story of the struggle the two farmers experienced when standing up against a duck factory located in front of their farm and the fight they had to put up when faced with a massive Bird flue pandemic. Saving The Geese describes the civil disobedience against the French State and the big local agro-industries corporations that wanted to kill the band’s healthy animals as “prevention”.

Shenanigans re-evokes the great times the band spent in Nashville with their friend Bill Elder who run the Shenanigans bar and who put them up during all Nashville studio sessions. Rockophobia, on the other hand, is one of the surprises The Inspector Cluzo reserved for the fans, it is a funny rock number, in which the band wonders “what does rock mean today?” laughing at Iggy Pop, who later decided to feature on the track.

The first single and title track was originally written 15 years ago for the band’s debut album, but was never finished, until the pandemic hit. Horizon openheartedly brings to the front the band’s efforts in running their family-farm, whilst experimenting new agro-ecologic techniques apt to face climate change, saving rare species, free seeds etc… … .

In keeping with their reputation as one the most prolific touring bands in the world (they have played over 1200 shows in 67 countries to date), The Inspector Cluzo completed sold out USA support tours with Clutch and Eels in 2019, alongside a host of festival appearances across the globe (including Lollapalooza Chile and Brazil) and a maiden US headline tour.

In the summer of 2022 The Inspector Cluzo played extensively on prestigious stages across Europe, including the widely renowned Hellfest Festival, where they gathered a crowd of 50,000 fans.

About The Inspector Cluzo

The Inspector Cluzo is a Gascony based Rock-Blues duo, created in 2008 by Laurent (Guitar, Lead Vocal) and Mathieu (Drums). The two met at their 1st year of Physics studies in Mont de Marsan. Since 2008, the band have released 8 albums via their self-run record label “F.TheBassPlayer Rercords”, they are totally 100% self-financed, family-based organized, and 100% DIY.

They have played more than 1200 gigs in 67 countries all around the world. They played festivals such as Fuji Rock festival (Japan), Pentaport Festival (South Korea), Lollapalooza (Brazil &Chile), Download (UK), Paléo Festival (Switzerland), Oppikopi (South Africa), Blues Fest (Australia), Shaky Knees Fest (USA), Hell Fest (France).

However, the band’s main activity remains farming. They are organic professional farmers, they run a 15Ha family farm called “LOU CASSE” (“the oak” in Gascon language) in Gascony, producing organic wheat and organic corn with their own free seeds. No GMO, no hybrids seeds, no chemicals nor pesticides are used. They belong to a new generation of farmers that are into an Agro-Ecologic system challenging and fighting climate change for the new generations.

Marilyn Mosby's sentencing: What could happen this week amid her national pardon push

BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- — Marilyn Mosby will be back in court this week for sentencing, but that hasn’t stopped her or her supporters from going on a national media tour urging others to cosign a presidential pardon petition and donate money to the former top prosecutor of Baltimore City.

Mosby is facing sentencing for three federal convictions: two perjury counts and one count of mortgage fraud. The convictions all stem from her purchase of two Florida vacation homes; Mosby made two withdrawals from her city retirement account, claiming to have suffered COVID-related financial hardship, and therefore qualifying to withdraw the funds without paying a penalty. However, a jury of Mosby’s peers – in a Greenbelt courthouse after the defense successfully argued for a change of venue – determined Mosby lied on the forms during a November 2023 trial , and she did not suffer a financial hardship during the pandemic.

In January 2024, Mosby faced another jury for the mortgage fraud charges. Originally facing two counts, the jury determined Mosby submitted a false gift-letter from her then-husband , City Council President Nick Mosby. The letter suggested Nick Mosby was gifting Marilyn $5,000 she needed to secure a favorable interest rate for a mortgage on a condo in Long Boat Key, Florida.

While technically Mosby is facing up to 40 years in prison, federal prosecutors are seeking 20 months in prison, followed by several years of supervised release for Mosby’s three convictions. Mosby’s defense team, however, is urging Judge Lydia Griggsby to sentence Mosby to probation.

“What is the just sentence for Marilyn Mosby? The sentence that is sufficient but not greater than necessary to comport with sentencing goal is time served with 1 year of supervised release,” her defense team wrote. “Jail is not justice for Marilyn Mosby.”

Mosby has been on somewhat of a national media tour, starting with her appearance on MSNBC’s The Reid Out with Joy Reid in early May. Since then, Mosby has appeared on several radio shows and podcasts claiming innocence and has made public posts pleading for support.

“I know I’ve done nothing wrong, nothing criminal,” Mosby said on the Reid Out.

“If we allow me to go down, the way they want me to, it’s going to have a detrimental impact on everybody else,” she said during another podcast appearance.

In court documents, prosecutors pointed to Mosby’s own words, claiming they prove that Mosby “accepts no responsibility for her actions, has no respect for this Court’s rulings, and lacks honesty with the public and candor before this Court.”

“The time has come for Ms. Mosby to be held accountable for her actions,” prosecutors wrote in their response to Mosby’s legal team asking for probation instead of prison time.

Jeremy Eldridge, a defense attorney not affiliated with Mosby’s trial, said in his 20-plus year career, he’s never “seen such peculiar set of events where someone is convicted of a crime and then goes on a media tour.”

“It’s almost like Donald Trump honestly, because it’s dangerous,” Eldridge said. “You’re putting the judge in a really, really bad position for you because there’s still no remorse. It’s disrespectful to the system.”

Marilyn Mosby is going to have to go to jail, Eldridge said.

Beyond the innocence claim, Mosby’s supporters have continued their presidential pardon push. The Congressional Black Caucus sent a letter to President Joe Biden on May 16, according to The Baltimore Sun , claiming Mosby’s prosecution was political motivated.

“Her courageous commitment to justice made her a target of admiration and punishment,” U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nevada, wrote in the letter.

Rep. Horsford, who also chairs the Congressional Black Caucus, noted the presidential pardon application has officially been submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Pardon Attorney, and encouraged a favorable outcome.

“As a nation that leads by example, our justice system must not be weaponized to prevent progress toward a more perfect union,” Rep. Horsford continued in his letter. “We share your desire for racial equity, Mr. President, and this Trump-era prosecution is in direct conflict with a justice system that serves us all.”

Sunday afternoon, Bernice A. King, daughter of legendary civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and CEO of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, publicly joined Mosby's push for a pardon. On social media, King posted a statement that said in part, "to consider the context and dedication Mosby has shown throughout her career."

However, Eldridge pointed out that both juries for Mosby’s trial were diverse, the U.S. Attorney for Maryland Erek Barron is African American, as is Judge Griggsby. While Mosby brings up the Trump Administration Department of Justice launching the investigation into her, both Griggsby and Barron are Biden-appointees. Also, Mosby asked Baltimore City Inspector General Isabel Mercedes Cumming to launch an investigation into her travel history.

The only person who thinks this is irregular is Marilyn Mosby and she’s just doing a magnificent job at trying to bamboozle the public in doing so,” he said.

I’ve just never seen a losing quarterback pretend they’ve won the Super Bowl more times than Marilyn Mosby, Eldridge said.

Prosecutors are also seeking to seize Mosby’s Long Boat Key condo , noting that if there’s a profit on a sale, Mosby would get her down payment back. However, citing future employment concerns due to her law license possibly being revoked, Mosby’s defense team is urging Judge Griggsby to allow Mosby to keep the property.

In court filings, Mosby’s legal team argues that the property was purchased in an effort to secure financial independence amid a crumbling marriage, and that without the ability to rent the property, Mosby’s income streams would be inadequate.

“Without the home, she will be unable to earn rental income on the property to support herself and her daughters,” Mosby’s defense wrote in court documents.

Her defense team noted that since Mosby’s original $476,000 purchase price of the condo, the value has only increased. Redfin estimates the property to be worth $886,084 and Zillow estimates the property is worth $781,800, according to Mosby's defense team.

“Ms. Mosby is otherwise significantly in debt,” her defense team wrote in court documents.

Mosby’s sentencing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 at the federal courthouse in Greenbelt, Md. The property forfeiture hearing is scheduled to take place on the same day.

According to online court schedules, Mosby’s latest court date could stretch to Friday, May 24 as well.

YouTuber charged in video showing women shooting fireworks at Lamborghini from helicopter

The 2023 video, which has been taken down, was titled 'destroying a lamborghini with fireworks.' alex choi, the youtuber who posted it, called it one of his 'crazy stupid ideas.'.

A popular YouTuber is facing a federal charge stemming from a video showing two women shooting fireworks from a moving helicopter at a Lamborghini sports car.

Suk Min Choi, who has nearly a million subscribers and is known on YouTube as Alex Choi , was charged Tuesday with "causing the placement of explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft," according to a federal affidavit obtained by USA TODAY on Thursday

The charge stems from the nearly 11-minute video that Choi uploaded on July 4, 2023, titled "Destroying a Lamborghini With Fireworks." In the video, filmed in California, Choi is seen pressing a "fire missiles" button while the two women in the chopper launch the fireworks, according to the affidavit, written by special agent Cristina Jones with the Department of Transportation's Office of Inspector General.

Choi's video appeared to be the "live-action version of a fictionalized videogame scene," Jones wrote.

The video, which has been taken down, also gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how Choi coordinated the stunt, Jones wrote. Choi is credited as the director and he thanks a camera company for “being a part of my crazy stupid ideas," according to Jones.

Choi has not responded to an emailed request for comment from USA TODAY and does not have a defense attorney listed in court records.

Alex Choi did not follow the FAA's procedure to film YouTube video

Choi did not take the necessary steps outlined by the Federal Aviation Administration before shooting the video, including receiving a waiver to film and the helicopter's pilot developing "safe operating procedures, guidelines, and criteria to operate below the altitude required" by law, according to Jones.

The FAA also requires the aircraft pilot to submit a written plan of activities three days before the scheduled filming, which should include several details such as the "dates and times for all flights and the name and phone number of the person responsible for filming production events," Jones wrote.

The shoot occurred in 2023 on or about June 8 and June 27 in the El Mirage Dry Lakebed in San Bernardino County, Jones wrote.

The helicopter pilot in Alex Choi's video had license revoked by the FAA

An investigation by the FAA into Choi began on Dec. 5, 2023, according to Jones.

"(The pilot) operated the helicopter less than 500 feet from people and a moving car on the ground ... created a hazard to persons or property by allowing the fireworks to be launched at a moving passenger-carrying vehicle operated at less than the minimum altitudes," according to the affidavit.

The inspector's investigation also uncovered that at some point when the helicopter went toward the El Mirage Dry Lakebed, it turned its transponder off and disappeared from the FAA's radar near Redman, California, Jones wrote.

'Choi was doing unsafe activities involving cars and aircraft'

When the pilot of the helicopter initially spoke to the FAA on the phone on July 23, 2023, he initially said he didn't know about the YouTube video but later told investigators that "Choi was doing unsafe activities involving cars and aircraft," the complaint continued.

In an email sent to the FAA on July 25, 2023, the pilot said "he was not the owner of the helicopter and could not involve himself in any investigations concerning the pilots who use it," Jones wrote.

The FAA issued an emergency order of revocation for the helicopter pilot's private pilot certificate on Jan. 8, according to Jones.

Choi went to Las Vegas to buy fireworks because he couldn't in California

Choi filmed the stunt "on the federally owned portion of the El Mirage Dry Lakebed," Jones' affidavit says.

To perform the stunt, Choi spent $2,100 for the helicopter for three hours, and between $500 and $700 for the fireworks, according to a May 2023 email from the YouTuber that federal officials accessed, Jones wrote.

Choi went out of state to Las Vegas to buy the fireworks because it is illegal to purchase non-state-approved fireworks in California, according to Jones.
