Actor Wi Ha Joon, 32, has established his status as a skilled actor through performances in Little Women, Squid Game and Gyeongseong Creature.

South Korean actor Wi Ha Joon, known for his roles in Little Women, Squid Game and Gyeongseong Creature, has made an exciting announcement. The actor is going to start an Asia 2024 tour. Titled A Wively Day, Ha Joon will be travelling across six different cities in Asia for it. The cities include Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Manila and Jakarta. The actor will start his fan meeting tour on August 17 this year and it will conclude on September 28, 2024. The actor, who enjoys immense popularity, sent his fans into a frenzy on June 25 after making the news official.

His tour will start in Seoul on August 17, followed by Tokyo on August 25 and Osaka on August 27. It will further continue to thrill his fans in Bangkok on September 7, Manila on September 15 and Jakarta on September 28. The meet will have lots of private gatherings and fans will also get a chance to interact with the actor.

Actor Wi Ha Joon, 32, has established his status as a skilled actor through various standout performances across different genres of films. He debuted in the 2015 film Coin Locker Girl.

After quite a few appearances, his got his breakthrough role was in Squid Game. He gained widespread acclaim for playing a character named Hwang Jun Ho in the extremely successful and globally popular thriller series Squid Gamin 2021, on Netflix. For his role in the series, he was also nominated for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award by the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Thereafter, he continued to impress viewers with his roles in the thriller film Midnight and the series Bad and Crazy. In 2022, he starred in another drama series titled Little Women.

Most recently, in 2023, he acted in The Worst of Evil and the second season of Gyeongseong Creature.

Queen of Tears actor Kim Soo-Hyun embarked on his second location, Yokohama, Japan, for his 2024 Asia Fan Meeting Tour, EYES ON YOU. Following the global success of the hit tvN K-drama, Kim Soo-Hyun arranged for his first fan meeting in over a decade, with multiple locations and dates from June to September 2024. The tour will conclude in Seoul, South Korea, and include cities like Bangkok, Yokohama, Manila, Taipei, and Hong Kong. 

Kim Soo-Hyun recently completed his first fan meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 15, 2024. It was a huge success, as the actor interacted with his fans in a sold-out stadium. He sang Crush’s “Love You With All My Heart,” one of the beloved Queen of Tears OSTs and had a great time with fans. Furthermore, the actor even shared behind-the-scenes stories from filming the tvN K-drama. Kim Soo-Hyun now embarks on the rest of his fan meeting tour, including the upcoming destination of Yokohama, Japan.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Kim Soo-Hyun left Seoul, South Korea, for his next fan meeting destination as part of his 2024 Asia Fan Meeting Tour, “EYES ON YOU.” The Queen of Tears actor left for Yokohama, Japan, amidst a wave of fans bidding him good luck at the airport. Meanwhile, the fan meeting will be held on two separate days, Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23, 2024. 

Kim Soo-Hyun will meet his fans at the Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan, on both days of the fan meeting. On June 22, 2024, the doors close at 4 p.m. KST, and the fan meeting begins an hour later. Similarly, the fan meeting for the following day begins an hour later, after doors close at 3 p.m. KST. Check out the ticket details for the two days below.

The ticket price for Kim Soo-Hyun’s fan meeting in Yokohama, Japan, is ￥13,000 (tax included). The price remains the same for both days. Fans could buy tickets from the Fan-Clib Pre-Sale Lottery between May 29 and June 10, 2024. The second round of tickets was first-come, first-served as part of pre-sale via Ticket Guide during the same period.

Sum 41 announce UK and European leg of farewell arena tour

"We can't wait to put on on the best show of our lives and go out on a high"

Sum 41 have announced a handful of 2024 UK and European shows for their final arena tour. Check out more details below.

The Canadian rock band – comprised of Deryck Whibley, Dave Baksh, Jason “Cone” McCaslin, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo – have added a string of UK and EU shows to their farewell ‘Tour Of The Setting Sum’, which will kick off in the Netherlands on October 21.

They’ll also make stops in Paris, Budapest and Vienna. The UK leg will take them to Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and Nottingham, before wrapping up at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on October 31.

Tickets for the UK & EU leg of the tour go on sale at 10am this Friday (June 28) and are available to purchase here .

The tour began this year on March 1 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will end in their home province of Ontario, Canada with the band’s final performance taking place in Toronto on January, 30 2025. For the UK leg, Sum 41 will be supported by The Bronx , and Neck Deep will join for the EU shows.

“We are really excited to announce shows in the UK and Europe later this year,” said frontman Deryck Whibley. “This forms another leg of our last-ever shows and our fans overseas have been incredible to us over the years, so we can’t wait to put on on the best show of our lives and go out on a high.”

Earlier this year, the band announced they would be breaking up after the release of their eighth studio album ‘ Heaven :x: Hell ‘, and the subsequent world tour that included a final appearance at Download Festival last week, and a performance at Mad Cool Festival in Madrid next month.

“Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives,” they wrote in an X post announcing their disbanding. “We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear it from us first.”

In December 2023, Whibley spoke to NME  about the band’s decision to stop making music . “I feel really good about this album, which is why I felt it should be the last one. We didn’t know we’d be splitting up when we were making it, but I’ve been making records and touring with this band since I was 15,” he said. “I’ve had this feeling for a long time now that I want to do something different and it just feels like the right time. This album feels like the perfect way to go out.”

He added: “Over the past few years, the touring has constantly been getting bigger and the band is at our best. My fear is that if I start to lose the excitement, we’ll just fade away. I care too much about the fans and what we’ve built as a band to let that happen, just because it’s a good paycheque.”

This month, Whibley shared his desire to reunite with Sum 41’s former frontman Jon Marshall who left the group after only a year in 1997. In an interview with the Daily Star , he revealed that ‘Johnny Libertine’, a track from their latest album, ‘Heaven :x: Hell’, was written about Marshall, who he referred to as “the most punk-rock guy I have ever known”.

In a three-star review for ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ , NME ‘s Rishi Shah wrote: “Truly a melting pot of soundscapes cherry-picked from their career, ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ is a fitting last hurrah for a band who sealed their place in history long ago.”

Pope to stop by Istiqlal Mosque during first-ever Indonesia visit

Pope Francis will become the first head of the Roman Catholic Church to visit Indonesia in 35 years when he travels to Jakarta in September, with an itinerary that includes stopping by Istiqlal Mosque.

ope Francis is scheduled to stop by Indonesia’s largest Islamic house of worship during his first-ever visit to the country in September.

"The pope is slated to visit Indonesia from Sept. 3 to 6, during which he will visit Istiqlal Mosque on Sept. 5," Nasaruddin Umar, grand imam of the mosque in Central Jakarta, said on Monday as quoted by Kompas.com.

Indonesia is to be the first stop in the pope’s two-week Asia-Oceania tour that includes Papua New Guinea, Singapore and Timor-Leste, the Vatican announced in April.

Thomas Ulun Ismoyo from the Bishop’s Conference of Indonesia (KWI) said last week that the itinerary for Francis’ Indonesia visit was centered in Jakarta, though changes were possible.

The papal visit is organized by the Vatican Embassy in Jakarta and the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, in coordination with a special KWI committee.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had previously invited the 87-year-old pope to the world’s largest Muslim-majority country in an effort to promote religious tolerance.

Lipp and the Slacktones were so much fun. Their music was fun and a great start to the night. Such a talented band. Enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed Donna the Buffalo. They never disappoint. Highly recommend. You simply can’t leave without a smile on your face which is what I noticed on everyone’s face. Fun time.

Great high energy show. This was the second time we have seen them and once again they played non-stop for two and a half hours. They are incredible musicians. They seem to get lost in the music and respond to each other musically more than any other band I know.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. French Open day 6 recap: Olga Danilovic’s tears, Coco Gauff’s win, Ons Jabeur’s form

Welcome back to the French Open Briefing, where The Athletic  will explain the stories behind the stories on each day of the tournament.

On Day 6 of Roland Garros 2024, there was Coco Gauff winning handsomely, joy and desolation on Suzanne-Lenglen, and Ons Jabeur looking more like herself.

Has Coco Gauff figured out how to ride a storm?

The biggest change in Coco Gauff over the past year might not be her U.S. Open title, nor the confidence of a first Grand Slam.

That’s big. Bigger might be Gauff’s ability to accept that in any given match, there are going to be moments when things go awry.

Her serve can get wobbly. Her forehand can lose its bearings. She simply has to ride out the storm until they reset — or let her opponent feel the clouds gather themselves.

That’s where Gauff was trying to serve out her match against Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine on Friday at Roland Garros. She’d been on cruise control for an hour and a half, because Yastremska, a sometimes dangerous player prone to streaks of winners and errors, had been running cold. Gauff? She’d been pretty darn good, other than struggling to crack 50 percent on her first serves. And then, things went a bit haywire — second serves off the frame, double faults, forehands lacking conviction. Even her trusty backhand, one of the best in the sport, lost its usual zip. Awry.

Yastremska took one game, and then another, and she was threatening to seize the second set. It was the sort of moment when, a year ago, Gauff might have started harrumphing around the court or swatting the clay with her racket.

Friday, she was thinking of something else.

“I was just trying to just remind myself I’m in the better position. I’m the one up a set and double break,” she said after she’d let Yastremska spray enough balls outside the lines to clinch the match 6-2, 6-4.

“There are times when you’re down a set and a break and you have to tell yourself it’s OK. It’s just really psyching yourself out.”

There’s another thing Gauff likes to tell herself these days.

“Billions of people don’t even know who you are. So the matches aren’t as big as they feel sometimes.”

In other words, in the parlance of her Gen Z cohorts, it’s not that deep.

Now Gauff is back into the second week of the French Open, on the red clay that likely suits her game better than any other surface. She can run all day, and if the Parisian weather ever threatens the thermometers, the ball will start popping into her strike zone and give her those extra milliseconds on her forehand that helped her make the final two years ago when she was just 18.

She will face Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy, 51st in the world, 23, and playing in the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time. Gauff has played her twice and won both times, most recently in February in Dubai, but they have never played on clay, which Cocciaretto loves.

She described her opponent as a fighter. “I know I have to go in there with a strong mentality,” she said.

Seems like it’s getting stronger every month.

Joy and desolation on Suzanne-Lenglen

Donna Vekic looked like she was going to be sick as the ball apologetically sank into the net.

Double fault, in a tiebreak she had led 6-2, within 4 points of victory.

Two chances to serve the match out, gone.

She’d bagelled Olga Danilovic, the Serbian qualifier who beat world No 10 Danielle Collins around 16 hours before, in the first set. She’d recovered from losing the second set. She’d regrouped.

Now it was 7-7, and she wanted the clay to swallow her up.

Three points later, when Danilovic whipped a forehand down the line to win the tiebreak 10-8, and the match, she collapsed to the floor, laughed for a second, and then wept with something like relief. She could barely speak after it was done, sobbing with joy and thanking the crowd. One thing she could say?

“Sometimes in tennis, you have to suffer.”

Danilovic, the world No 125, has spoken of the way Novak Djokovic, her compatriot, has been supportive of her, patient with his time, for a fellow Belgradian whose father struggled when he first arrived in the city to play basketball for Partizan, because he came from Sarajevo. Danilovic has had a horrible time on tour, injuries continuously disrupting the display of her serious talent, which only needed a run of matches to come to the fore. In the tiebreak, she wavered, as Vekic did, but stayed grounded and balanced when it mattered, sliding for dropshots with intent and leaning into the ball to free her left arm and lasso it around the court.

For a moment in Paris, sitting in the dirt and overcome with emotion as the crowd cheered all around her, she could feel that she had made it. Now the round of 16 begins, against fifth seed and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova.

Is the ‘minister of happiness’ herself again?

For the first time in a while, Ons Jabeur looks like herself again on the tennis court.

Ever since losing last year’s Wimbledon final, it’s felt as though there’s been a weight on her shoulders. She said as much Friday, revealing that “sometimes I sleep at night, and I only think about what I should have done differently.”

But maybe she’s starting to emerge again, finding a bit of comfort on the court after struggling with a knee injury for much of the year. Certainly, her level right now is higher than it’s been pretty much the whole year, and Friday Jabeur reached the fourth round by beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in straight sets, with a performance full of the exquisite shotmaking we’ve come to expect from her.

After the match, she talked about allowing herself to be vulnerable and not feeling pressured to live up to her “Minister of Happiness” moniker.

“I feel like if I am the Minister of Happiness, I need to be 24/7 happy, you know, which is wrong. I feel like it’s wrong, and I’m sending the wrong message as well,” she said.

“What I want to always say is I get angry, I get sad, and I accept these feelings, and it’s OK to do that. It’s not a happy life all the time. I would be lying to everyone else and lying to myself, obviously.

“For me is to be real to myself, real to you guys. I cry all the time. I can be feeling sad, but if someone — you know, makes a nice comment or tells me something nice, it would completely change my day, so I try to do the same.”

Next up for Jabeur is an interesting fourth-round match against the big-hitting Dane Clara Tauson.
