On previous holidays, My family and I have been travelling to the island of Langkawi. We were there for 4 days and 3 nights. Before we were on holiday there, my mom and dad were on vacation Kedah first. When they had been there, me and my other family members went to vacation on the island of Langkawi. We arrived in island in the evening. We did not check in the hotel first, but we went to our first destinations is Cable Car. The cable car has three stops destination that we had to through. It’s quite scary when we rode it. We had use the cable car to climbing up and down.

After we went to Cable Car, we rested ourselves and pray at hotel. In night, we dinner together at Telaga Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant provide Westerns food, Arabian food and Malay food. We ate a lot of food that my parents ordering to us. After we finished our dinner, we take a chance to window shopping and walking at row of shops that have in there. A lot of shops, sell, souvenirs, clothes, bag and many things that can we buy to give to other people. But in first day , we just survey and window shopping before we decide to buy it.

In second day, we breakfast at the hotel and started our journey at Langkawi Island. My sister had already booking our boat to go around in Langkawi Island. The islands that available in Langkawi Island is like ” Pulau Kasut” , ” Gua Buaya” , Gorilla Island , Lady Island and a lot of island that have in there. But in we also went to swimming at Private Island. This island we can swimming but have a time that we can swim at there. In evening, we’re going to “Dayang Bunting Island” there’s is the most beautiful island in the Langkawi Island.

In third day, my sister already go to the shopping and bought the things that she wanted give to her friends. At Langkawi Island, the price of the chocolate, clothes and souviners is cheaper and there have duty shop that we can bought chocolate, cigarette and perfume. But for me, i just bought some of chocolate for my friends and my ownself. There’s so many brand of chocolate that we can buy it at there and for those who really likes the chocolate surely cannot decide what type of chocolate they want to buy it. Our next destination is going to factory of sea cucumber and at there we can see how the process see cucumber was made.

On the last day, before we’re going to go back home we decide to lunch at Langkawi Island because want to ate at “Rojak Hafiz”. Most of people said ” Rojak Hafiz” is the most famous rojak stall at Langkawi Island and taste of rojak was supper awesome and source of the rojak is so delicious. After all of us done with lunch, we rushed to the jetty and our tickets at 3:30p.m . This is the most best ever family trip in my life eventhough my parents didn’t bring us to overseas for enjoy our holidays but for me the most important things is when my family can give some space and spend their times to made this family trip succesful.

Step 2: describe your trip in general.

This is important when you write a report. You need to tell your reader these first:

  • What was the activity?
  • Where was the destination?
  • How long was the event?
  • What was the aim/objective of the event?

Hi Grace, I noticed that the number of paragraphs is inconsistent. I have been telling my kids to do 5 paragraphs, which I thought is the norm, and they’re used to this format already. Will they be penalised for writing beyond that?

Hi Kevin, I wouldn’t see that as a major issue in essay writing (though many might not agree) I think students are free to write with the style that they feel most comfortable with. And I’m sure you’re doing a great job with your kids now.

Hi Grace, It’s comforting to have that assurance. My kids tend to “overwrite”, which poses a headache when I mark. 🙂 Thanks for the reply.

I would like to continue this essay 6th paragraph: After we were exhausted,we returned to the sea shore.I took out a canned drink to quench my thirst. Then,we enjoyed watching the panoramic view of the blue sea.My body chilled when the sea breeze caressed my body.We did not miss the opportunity to watch the sunset view. When the ball of fire sunk under the horizon,we knew that it was the time to say goodbye to this wonderful place. Before leaving,we made sure to take some screenshots.I had a whale of a time on that day.It was a memorable holiday.

Interesting Paragraph....good work, Sathya. Keep it up! A pointer for you.... 1. Try not to use the phrase "After,we were exhausted..." it will just cut short your ending or the continuity of the previous paragraph.Try with a time frame.... - example:- I splashed around, swam and did some diving in the sea. As for my sister she managed to build two awesome sandcastles, decked beautifully with different types of seashells collected around the sea shore. All the splashing around and building sandcastles exhausted us.So, we decided to head back to the shore and just laze around enjoying the panoramic view of the blue sea.....

McCloskey: My parents knew how to take a family summer trip

Growing up, Abby McCloskey's family took summer car trips, including one to a Montana dude...

family trip essay pt3

You know that a family vacation is only a vacation if there’s no family save your spouse, right? Anything with children (or elderly parents) is a family trip. Let me tell you, my parents mastered the art of the family trip.

I pulled my first all-nighter at the tender age of 5 on one such trip. Each summer in Cleveland, it wouldn’t quite get hot enough nor would Lake Erie get quite clean enough, and so Mom and Dad would load up in the green Dodge Caravan with my two little sisters and me and we’d go to Hilton Head, South Carolina. It was a 12-hour drive with no stops and the speed limit being pushed.

Weekly vacation rentals on the island started at noon on Saturdays. An inexperienced family might do part of the trip the day before, spend the night at a Hilton Garden Inn somewhere in the middle, have a light breakfast and roll into town well-rested around lunchtime. Not this family. Through a combination of German efficiency (Dad) and Scottish frugality (Mom), we’d discovered how to get there with nary a stop nor a penny spent.

We’d get into our pajamas — the kids anyway — and head out around 7 p.m. on Friday. Dinner already taken care of! My sisters would doze off, Dad and Mom would put on a book on tape that would scare me silly while I was pretending to be asleep, and somewhere around 2 a.m. Dad would pull off alongside the highway or find a quiet parking lot for a few hours sleep before getting back on the road. That’s because the goal was not to arrive when the weekly rental keys were available. Oh no. It was to arrive at the crack of dawn to squeeze in an extra beach morning.

You can imagine the quality of sleep we would get on the side of the road with semi trucks racing by. Poor Mom and Dad; they were so exhausted they slept through it. My younger sisters too. So it was up to me to keep watch in case one of the trucks swerved too close to our car so I could somehow awaken everyone and get Dad to turn on the engine and get out of the way while bracing for impact.

Sleeping in parking lots wasn’t much better. Once a policeman knocked on the window of our van in Walmart parking lot with his flashlight shining and telling us we had to leave.

Another time, in an abandoned parking lot, a sprinkler system cranked on around 3am and let me tell you what we must have been darn close to the sprinkler head because it sounded like there were bullets spraying the side of the vehicle. Good thing I was awake to yell to everyone that it was just water.

Sometime in the early morning we’d cross the bridge onto Hilton Head island (in my imagination we wore our swimsuits under our pajamas, but that seems a click too efficient) and we’d find a public beach and lay out by the ocean or go buy groceries. By the time we were first in line to get our vacation rental keys we were practically locals, albeit bleary-eyed ones.

For a glorious week we’d catch hermit crabs and sand dollars, go out to eat (hush puppies were a favorite), ride our bikes a little too close to alligators and build epic sand castles.

As the years went on our rental units got closer and closer to the ocean until eventually my parents rented big houses right on the beach where my cousins, aunt, uncle and grandfather could come too. This created the welcome ability to head back to the house midday for a break from the sun and waves. I remember the massive country breakfasts my farm cousins and grandfather would make, the secret of which is frying the bacon first and then cooking the pancakes in the bacon grease so the edges crisp up like the burnt edge of a grilled cheese sandwich.

The all-nighters persisted through the years despite the trip budget expanding. The only time we ever stopped at a hotel my sister lost her stuffed rabbit. I’m not sure she’s over it still. So much for taking the easy way.

There were two years of my childhood that we didn’t go to Hilton Head. One year, my dad thought that his daughters should experience a dude ranch in Montana. The other, we had just moved from Ohio to Tennessee. Maybe it was because the thrill of the all-nighter in the car was gone (Nashville to Hilton Head is a mere nine hours) but that year my parents decided we’d rent a houseboat in Tennessee for a few nights instead.

The required training to rent a houseboat, as far as I could tell, consisted of someone showing Dad the boat’s on and off switch. We had a waterslide off the back of our boat, rode jet skis, cooked hot dogs, played card games. Then, when the last rays of sun had sunk and the lake was covered in blackness and stars, our carbon monoxide detector started beeping. Mom frantically called the boathouse but they were closed for the night. It was so dark and we were so deep into the fingers of the lake that Dad thought it would be impossible to get back. It’s probably just the battery is low, my parents said, let’s unplug it and just go to sleep.

They went to sleep, my sisters went to sleep, and I cracked the window and stuck my head by it for the night, imagining how, as the sole survivor, I’d get the boat back to shore and explain what had happened to my family. After all, what was a trip without an anxiety-fueled all-nighter?

We never did go back to Hilton Head as a family. Trips to hot places made less sense in Tennessee and so family trips turned into trips around Christmas to Puerto Rico, California and Hawaii.

But one year after I was married, my parents and younger sisters risked a stray summer family trip — this time renting an RV and driving cross country. In addition to ripping the air conditioner off the roof under an overpass somewhere in Wisconsin, on a rainy night in an RV campground, they accidentally switched the sewage and water lines (not a lot of training for RVs either) and let’s just say that things started pumping back into the vehicle with my sister’s dog running around in it, tracking it up on the beds, and my parents’ goldendoodle escaping outside into the stormy sprawling campground.

I heard about this sitting on the porch of my in-laws’ house sipping a gin and tonic on a cool summer night and getting ready to sleep like a baby. That’s when I realized I was too old for family trips.

But now, nearly 20 years later and with three young kids of our own, my husband and I are going on our first big family trip to Montana this summer. We’re flying, not driving. But we’ll do the big grocery store run and hole up for seven days in some strange cabin, making memories.

I have to hand it to Mom and Dad. I know those trips were work — maybe even more work than they needed to be. But if I can make memories half as good as those with my own children, even if I’m up all night scouting for bears, I’ll say we’ll have mastered it.

And after the summer family trip, we will all promptly need a vacation.

Family vacations offer an unparalleled opportunity to strengthen bonds. The shared experiences, laughter, and even disagreements foster understanding and empathy, contributing to a more profound familial connection. They also provide a platform for parents to model adaptability and problem-solving skills to their children, thus helping them grow.

Creating Lifelong Memories

Family vacations are a treasure trove of memories. The joy of exploring new places, the thrill of trying different cuisines, or the serenity of watching a sunset together, all become part of our collective memory bank. These memories often become stories that are recounted at family gatherings, embedding themselves into the fabric of family history.

Education Beyond Textbooks

Family vacations are also an opportunity for experiential learning. Visiting historical sites, interacting with diverse cultures, or exploring nature’s wonders can supplement classroom knowledge, fostering a holistic understanding of the world.

In conclusion, vacations with family are more than just leisure activities. They serve as a catalyst for strengthening relationships, creating lasting memories, and fostering personal growth. They are an investment in shared experiences that enrich our lives and deepen our understanding of each other. Despite the occasional challenges, the rewards of these shared journeys are truly priceless.

500 Words Essay on Vacation With Family

The essence of vacationing with family.

Vacationing with family is an experience that transcends the boundaries of mere enjoyment. It is a time of bonding, understanding, and creating memories that last a lifetime. It is an opportunity to escape the monotony of daily life, to explore new places, and to immerse ourselves in diverse cultures and experiences.

Learning and Growth

Family vacations serve as a platform for learning and growth. They provide a break from the structured learning environment of schools and colleges, offering a more experiential form of education. Visiting historical sites, for instance, can bring history lessons to life, making them more tangible and memorable. Similarly, interacting with people from different cultures can foster a sense of empathy and understanding that textbooks often fail to impart.

Strengthening Bonds

Vacations also play a crucial role in strengthening familial bonds. In today’s fast-paced world, quality family time is often sacrificed for work or academic commitments. A family vacation provides an opportunity to reconnect, to engage in shared activities, and to create shared memories. These experiences can foster a sense of unity and strengthen emotional connections, which are integral to maintaining healthy family relationships.

Creating Memories

The memories created during family vacations are invaluable. They serve as a repository of joy and nostalgia that can be revisited in times of distress or change. They remind us of our roots, of the love and support that our family offers, and of the adventures we’ve shared. These memories are not just snapshots of past vacations, but are part of our identity, shaping our perceptions and our understanding of our family and our place within it.

Building Resilience

Family vacations also help in building resilience. Travel often involves facing unexpected challenges – a missed flight, lost luggage, or a sudden change in plans. Navigating these challenges as a family can foster problem-solving skills, flexibility, and resilience. It teaches us to adapt, to remain calm in the face of adversity, and to work together towards a common goal.

In conclusion, vacationing with family is more than just a leisure activity. It is a multifaceted experience that promotes learning, strengthens bonds, creates enduring memories, and builds resilience. It is an investment in personal growth and familial relationships, yielding dividends that last a lifetime. As we navigate the complexities of adulthood, these vacations serve as a reminder of the simple joys of life and the comfort of family. They remind us that amidst the hustle and bustle of life, it is essential to pause, to explore, and to cherish the company of our loved ones.
