Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Will Return To The US In 2024 With 15 Newly Announced North American Dates

Megan Armstrong

Taylor Swift is hours away from the first of six shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the final stretch of the US leg of her wildly successful The Eras Tour . Only, these LA shows will no longer be a curtain call. We were naive to believe they would be. Haven’t we learned by now that Swift is always up to something more?

This morning (August 3), Swift announced newly added North American dates. Gracie Abrams will return as the opener.

“Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era,” she captioned the new The Eras Tour poster posted to Instagram. “Miami, New Orleans, Indy and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024 with @gracieabrams! Verified fan registration for all shows is open now – visit TaylorSwift.com for more information.”

And how could we forget how disastrously the Verified Fan presale went for the initial US leg (and more recently in Paris )? Let’s hope Swifties in Indianapolis, Miami, New Orleans, and Toronto have better fortunes. Watch out, Ticketmaster .

About a month ago, Swift unveiled additional 2024 European dates with Paramore as the opener. The European/UK leg will stretch from May 9 to August 17, and then she’ll return stateside.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Verified Fan Onsale is using registration to ensure more tickets get into the hands of fans who want to go to the shows, not buyers looking to resell them.

Only fans that receive an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for this Verified Fan Onsale. Fans who are selected will receive additional instructions on Wednesday, November 8. All others will be put on a waitlist.

Tickets for these shows will be in high demand, therefore, a limited number of fans will get access to the Verified Fan Onsale while others will be placed on the waitlist as described below. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

Registration is open from Thursday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. PT through Saturday, November 4 at 5:00 p.m. PT .

Key Dates to Know

Thursday, November 2 – Registration opens Saturday, November 4 @ 5:00 p.m. PT – Registration closes Wednesday, November 8 – Fans will receive confirmation if they will have access to the Verified Fan Onsale or if they have been placed on the waitlist.

Thursday, November 9 – Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Verified Fan Onsale (only fans that received an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for this sale). All shows will be assigned specific on-sale windows, which will be communicated prior to the start of the sale.

How Will This Sale Work?

Ticketmaster is helping artists give their fans a better opportunity to purchase tickets by creating an extra line of defense against bots and professional resellers who are looking to sell tickets for profit. The process includes three steps:

Step 1: Registration

By registering for the Verified Fan Onsale, you are letting us know that you’re interested in purchasing tickets. From the registration page, you sign into or create your account, select your preferred show(s) and register your email and phone number. Once completed, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email letting you know that we got your request. It’s quick, easy and free to sign up.

Step 2: Verification

Next, Ticketmaster vets each request by confirming it belongs to an individual — not a bot — and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale.

Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist

When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of registered Verified Fans will get access to the sale and others will be placed on a waitlist. You’ll receive an email on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know which group you’re in. If selected to get access to the sale, you’ll receive a unique access code and purchase link via text message the day prior to your Verified Fan Onsale.

While no system can guarantee that all fans will get tickets to the show(s) they’re interested in, the Verified Fan program works to significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale.

Common Questions

How do i register.

  • To register, please visit: HERE
  • Sign in using your My Account or create an account if you don’t have one.
  • Tell us what show you’re interested in and submit your registration; we’ll keep you up to date with all the latest information.

We’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know your registration was successful and what you can expect next.

If I receive access to the Verified Fan sale, am I guaranteed tickets?

No. Access means you have an opportunity to join the Verified Fan sale but it is not a guarantee you’ll be able to purchase tickets. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

If I received access to the Verified Fan sale, how do I purchase tickets?

  • At the specified time, click the link you were sent.
  • You’ll enter the Smart Queue. To keep your place in line, stay on the page and don’t refresh. Do not open more than one browser window.
  • Once it’s your turn, shop for tickets by using your unique access code. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis while currently-available inventory lasts and aren’t guaranteed. Each event has a strict four (4) ticket limit per customer.
  • Then checkout!

How many tickets can I buy with my code?

You can purchase up to 4 tickets for the one show indicated in the text you received.

When will the Waiting Room open?

The Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the designated Verified Fan sale window begins. When the Verified Fan sale begins, fans in the Waiting Room are assigned a spot in line. Once you reach the end of the queue, you’ll have an opportunity to shop for tickets. Stay on the page and don’t refresh or you may lose your spot in line.

You must use the same Ticketmaster account that you registered with to join the Waiting Room.

How do I join the queue?

Sign in through the link that we texted to the phone number you provided during registration to access the queue.

What can I do to prepare?

If you’ve been selected to participate in the Verified Fan sale, we recommend that you prepare by signing into your Ticketmaster account before the Verified Fan sale to make sure your billing information is up to date. This will help speed up the checkout process after you’ve selected the tickets you want to buy.

My link isn’t working. What should I do?

If you registered and received access to shop for tickets through text or email from Ticketmaster, but the link’s not working, try checking these things first:

  • Make sure the event is on sale. Links are sent out before the event goes on sale but won’t work until the event is actually on sale.
  • You must be signed in with the same email address you used to register for the Verified Fan sale.

Will there be other ways to buy Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets?

The only official way to get Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets is through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan Onsale or through certain other limited tour-sponsored onsale opportunities for specific shows. Be on the lookout for information on these other opportunities where available.

I got an email saying I’m on the waitlist. What does that mean?

If you’re currently on the waitlist, stay tuned — you may still have an opportunity to shop for tickets.

When there are more fans than there are tickets, a limited number of fans will get access to join at the start of the Verified Fan sale and others will be placed on the waitlist.

More fans may get access to join the Verified Fan sale based on ticket availability. If you’re selected, you will receive a text with a link to join the Verified Fan sale. Please note, moving off the waitlist does not guarantee access to tickets. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

Can I register more than once to increase the likelihood that I am able to purchase tickets ?

Registering more than once for a specific event does not increase the likelihood that you are able to purchase tickets . If you want to change the event date you selected after you’ve registered, you can make those edits while the registration window is still open. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

I received a confirmation email after I registered, what does that mean?

The email is simply to inform you that we have received your registration and will be working to verify your account. It doesn’t guarantee that you will be selected for the Verified Fan sale access. A second email will be sent on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know if you will get access to the sale or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist. If selected, the day prior to your Verified Fan sale you’ll receive a text message with a unique access code and link to use.

I’m a real fan of this artist, and not a bot or reseller. Why didn’t I get access?

Selection is not a measure of how big a fan anybody is. Sometimes there simply aren’t enough tickets for everyone. When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of fans get access to the Verified Fan sale, and others must be placed on the waitlist. The number of fans who receive access depends on the number of tickets currently available — this is done to help create a less crowded ticket shopping experience for fans.

How will I know if I’ve been granted access to the Verified Fan sale after I’ve been placed on the waitlist?

If selected, you will receive a text with a unique access code and link to the ticket sale. In the event of any SMS/texting delivery issues, we’ll email your unique access code and link to the email address associated with your Ticketmaster account that you used to register. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts. If you’re sent a unique access code and link you should join the Verified Fan sale as soon as possible for your opportunity to purchase tickets.

Earlier this week it was announced that in celebration of Swift’s history-making six sold-out SoFi Stadium shows in Los Angeles starting this week, the Grammy Museum is curating a special pop-up exhibit, I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (At Grammy Museum) , open now for a limited time through Monday, September 18. The exhibit is on display in the Museum’s 4th floor theater gallery.

I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (At Grammy Museum) immerses the visitor into the world of Swift’s recent  “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)”  music video, with a display of 11 costumes and two instruments for a total of 13 artifacts from the video.

The costumes were all worn during Swift’s original  Speak Now  era. The music video for “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” features actors Joey King and Taylor Lautner breaking Swift out of a museum vault while Presley Cash waits in the getaway car—a symbolic representation of how it has felt for Swift to have her fans help her reclaim her music. Swift wrote and directed the music video, realizing her dream of directing fight scenes and a heist storyline, with help from Director of Photography, Jonathan Sela, ASC.

Altogether, it was 38 overseas dates that Swift announced in Tuesday’s major rollout.

Popular on Variety

This wide expansion outside of the U.S. joins a dozen dates for this fall that Swift recently announced for Mexico, Argentina and Brazil in the Aug. 24-Nov. 26 time frame. Carpenter is opening all of those shows.

As she moves overseas next year, London will get four Wembley shows altogether, in two parts. First, she appears at the stadium for a pair of shows on June 21-22, 2024, before returning to wrap up the tour there Aug. 16-17.

She will be paying plenty of attention to the U.K. besides that, with shows in Edinburgh June 7-8, Liverpool June 14-15 and Cardiff June 18.

Tokyo and London are the only cities on the overseas tour to get four shows apiece — although, as Swifties well know, expansions in any given locale are very much to be expected.

The next closest runners-up with three shows each are Sydney and Singapore.

The U.S. leg of “The Eras Tour,” which has featured a literal earthquake-type response from fans, as well as a huge thank-you gift from Swift to truckers, was supposed to wrap up Aug. 9 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles before Swift heads to Mexico to begin a set of international dates that will take her to South America, Asia, Australia and Europe through 2024.

The tour kicked off  on March 23 in Glendale, Arizona, and had been scheduled to end Aug. 17, 2024, in London before the new dates were added.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously requested for the singer to stop in his country through a pun-filled plea on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer,” he said on July 5 , referencing several of her songs. “We hope to see you soon.”

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour to end this December, singer announces

eras tour dates usa 2024

Sorry Swifties,  Taylor Swift  will not extend her record-breaking, behemoth  Eras Tour  to 2025.

"This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," the singer said sentimentally during her "All Too Well" speech before the 10-minute song.

"This tour has really become my entire life, it's taken over everything, like I think I once had hobbies," she joked in her bedazzled red and black jacket. "All I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear."

Her acoustic section has become a fan-favorite, unique to every city. The singer began mashing up songs in 2024. Swift still has about  30 songs in her vast discography left to perform.

"You have done so much to be with us," she continued. "You've made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear. You memorized lyrics. You got yourself here. You figured out parking. You figured out transportation, and I want spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in that moment and being here with you, and just know I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to be with us when this show reaches triple digits in shows. So thank you!"

Taylor Swift's journey: Eras Tour 'spans 18 years of music'

In November 2022, Taylor Swift announced her magnum opus  on social media , "I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"

The original post only showed 27 concerts over the course of a year. The demand quickly escalated that number to  66 shows for year one  and 86 for year two in 22 countries (U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria and Canada).

With  album announcements , music video reveals, special guests appearances and a  whole new "Tortured Poets" set  unveiled in Paris, France, the tour has continued to evolve and impress. Swift has broken attendance records for many stadiums across the world and countries have welcomed the singer in innovative ways. A hidden language of Swift-ese has developed in the form of friendship bracelets, custom concert chants ("1, 2, 3 let's go b****" and "Where you going Taylor?") and unforgettable dance moves. Tens of thousands of fans log on to watch livestreams every concert night anticipating Swift's outfits and  custom mashups  of songs not included in the massive  46-song set list .

A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

Swift's concert movie  bypassed production studios as the singer worked directly with AMC as a distributor bringing fans dancing and singing in the aisles. The movie is available to  watch on Disney+ .

No word on if she will release a second movie with the newly scrambled show and additional set.

Swift is only a third of the way through her 51 European stops. In the fall, she will come back to North America, heading to Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis in October and November and then Canada. Her last show for 2024 is on Dec. 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the U.S. and international dates and opening acts

eras tour dates usa 2024

Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — which rebranded itself as "Swift Cit y" for the March 17 and 18 concerts — with a triumphant return to live performance as the first act in the history of that venue to sell out two nights on the same tour.

By that point, she'd already broken the all-time record for most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day and passed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour as the highest-grossing tour in history by a female artist.

And Swift rose to the occasion , leading her band through a marathon 44-song set that lasted more than three hours while delivering on her promise of "a journey through all of my musical eras."

So what does she do for an encore? Here's where the Eras Tour is headed next, adding two surprise songs to the set at each show. Here's a look at what she's played so far .

  • Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour 2024 International Schedule

The Eras Tour is slowly shaping up to be one of the biggest music tours in the world. It is certainly Swift’s biggest and most important tour to date, and how could it not be? It celebrates all 10 albums (called eras) of Swift’s incredible career.

The tour began in March this year, but it’s not going to end anytime soon – it’s going to last well into November 2024!

If you want to see the whole schedule for the 2024 era of the Eras Tour, scroll down.

A Brief Wrap up of the Tour So Far

The tour, Swift’s sixth and biggest tour so far, officially started on March 17, 2023. The first show was held in Glendale, Arizona, and it was rapidly followed by a string of highly successful shows across the USA.

However, the last two segments of the tour so far took place outside of the USA, as Taylor headed to Mexico in August for a four-day fest, after which she made a brief break. The tour is set to continue briefly in November again, with three scheduled shows in Brazil.

At the end of the tour, Swift will have held 146 shows in total across 5 different continents. The social and economic impact of the tour is difficult to predict, but it is said that the concerts even affected the US economy – which is more than can be said about most concert tours in history.

The Eras Tour 2024 Dates

The tour hits a pause in November after Swift finishes with the three shows in Brazil, after which she goes on a break until February. The first concert in February is on February 7, and the location? Japan. The final show of the Eras Tour will take place in Toronto, Canada. In October, Taylor Swift is also releasing a film called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, a concert film documentary that is already smashing records worldwide.

Here is a full list of the international shows in 2024 for Taylor Swift’s already legendary concert tour.

Taylor Swift Will Resume ‘The Eras Tour’ in May 2024: Breaking Down Her Packed Schedule

Taylor Swift Will Resume The Eras Tour in May 2024

Taylor Swift ’s three-hour Eras Tour setlist is no joke — and neither is her schedule.

After sold-out runs across the United States, South America, Mexico, Australia and Asia, Swift, 34, has a nearly two-month hiatus.

“We got to play 6 shows in Singapore for the most wonderful crowds — just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who traveled and put so much effort into being at our shows,” Swift wrote via Instagram on Monday, March 10. “What an unforgettable way to end this leg of the tour!! See you in May when we get back to the Eras Tour !! In the meantime, I’ve got an album to release.”

Swift will debut her 11th studio album , The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19 in the middle of her tour break. In addition to TTPD promo, Swift has been “nesting” with boyfriend Travis Kelce at her home in Los Angeles. (Kelce, 34, attended several shows in Argentina, Australia and Singapore during his NFL offseason and bye week.)

“They’re focused on rest and recuperation and relaxing at home and having low-key and chill time together,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly later in March. “They are enjoying movie nights in her home theater, catching up on films and shows they’ve missed. They can finally rest and intend on spending quality time together and with friends and family.”

Swift’s downtime will end in May when she says bonjour to France for the first show of the next leg of Eras. The European shows commence at Paris’ La Défense Arena on Thursday, May 9, and run through Sunday, May 12. Paramore will return as the tour’s opening act. After saying au revoir to the City of Lights, Swift will make her way to Sweden, Portugal, Spain, England and more.

How to buy Taylor Swift tickets: Eras Tour dates and prices compared

Taylor Swift's reign continues with the latest leg of The Eras Tour. The singer-songwriter kicked off the European portion of her world tour in Paris in May, which will continue throughout the summer. From there, she'll return to North America to tour Canada and a few remaining US cities in the fall. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tour tickets.

Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift released her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, so the Swiftie hype will continue through the summer.

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. While Swift continues to extend the tour, including new US dates, tickets remain hard to come by.

Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options. You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Taylor Swift international tour dates

The Eras Tour international dates resumed on May 9 in Paris. The European tour will run until August 20 in London. UK prices are listed in pounds, and start times vary from city to city. Multiple shows have age restrictions for younger kids and specifics on seating and adult accompaniment. A few venues check that a ticketholder's ID matches the name on the tickets. US dates start in October and can be found under the following table.

Taylor Swift North American tour dates

The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.

How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour

Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.

Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.

On StubHub, UK tour dates come with a note that ticket terms don't permit resale through unauthorized channels and might not be valid for entry. If this ends up being the case, StubHub notes that its FanProtect Guarantee will cover purchasers.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets?

Ticket prices vary by date and location. International resale tickets tend to be a bit cheaper than US resale tickets. It's worth noting that some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.

StubHub's cheapest European tickets ranged from $239 (Amsterdam, Netherlands on July 4) to £1,279 (London, England on August 19). The latter is around $1,616 in USD. The lowest prices for most shows are around $250 to $1,200. On Vivid Seats , the cheapest tickets for these dates go for $491 and $1,172, respectively.

When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets range from $1,613 (Vancouver, Canada, on December 6) to $2,602 (Indianapolis, Indiana on November 2). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $1,600 and $2,300. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $1,527 and $2,451, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?

Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore is opening for Swift. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act. Earlier in the tour, Swift had Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, MUNA, HAIM, and more open for her.

Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift has already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations.

During her 100th show, a mid-June performance in Liverpool, Swift acknowledged that the tour would conclude in December. "The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I've ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," Swift told the crowd in a moment that was widely captured and posted across social media. This statement means that the Eras Tour is unlikely to extend past 2024, but we'll keep this guide updated if Swift announces any changes (or additions) to her tour lineup.

Will The Tortured Poets Department be a part of the Eras Tour?

It's good news for fans of "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift's new album that dropped on April 19, 2024. Swift is incorporating several of the new tracks into the Eras Tour, as evidenced by the first shows of her European leg. "The Tortured Poets Department" songs currently featured on tour include "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

Since the Eras Tour is already pretty long, this means that Swift is also cutting down a few songs from past Eras that previously made the tour setlist. The songs that were removed from the setlist include "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "The Last Great American Dynasty," "'Tis the Damn Season," and "Tolerate It."

Where can I stream The Eras Tour concert film?

If you'd rather watch The Eras Tour from home, you could always stream it on Disney+. Check out everything you need to know about streaming The Eras Tour concert film in our guide .

Note: Certain services and regions prohibit the resale of tickets. Business Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal reselling of tickets, and entry into an event is at the venue's discretion.

Taylor Swift brings Eras Tour to London

I s London Taylor Swift's favorite city? New artists are being inducted into the Swift multiverse. Travis Kelce spends time in Nashville. And do we really think "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" will be released in 2024?

Oh hi, London!

Taylor Swift is in the City of Dreams for three nights and scheduled to return in August for five more. London will host the most Eras Tour concerts of any worldwide city, and that may be because the singer has a long history with the English capital. She dated ex Joe Alwyn for six-plus years, frequently visiting Camden Market, Highgate, the West End, Brixton, Shoreditch and Hackney.

When the international show dates came out in June 2023, the Eras Tour's final stop was originally her second trip to Wembley Stadium in August. After the breakup with Alwyn, the singer announced in August 2023 three additional U.S. cities and one Canadian city (Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto). Then in November 2023, she annexed three more shows in Vancouver, which due to a recent speech in Liverpool we now know will be the end of the Eras Tour.

Swift releases 'Fortnight' behind the scenes video

The tortured poet peeled back the curtain on her "Fortnight" music video on Friday morning by releasing a new three-and-a-half minute behind the scenes video on YouTube .

"One of the stereotypical things about poets is that over the years is that people said they were crazy," Swift says, adding that if she just slightly turns her head it will read deranged.

The video shows her directing Post Malone, who is overjoyed when he figures out how to use a typewriter. "Yes ma'am," he replies to her multiple times.

"Stunning," Swift said, watching him gaze into the camera hauntingly.

The timing of this release is interesting. Anyone else clowning for a second "Tortured Poets" music video? Who's afraid of little old Taylor Swift?

Alwyn speaks out about 'long, loving' relationship

When the Eras Tour lands at a new stop, it coats the city with bedazzled outfits, "Junior Jewels" T-shirts and an abundance of friendship bracelets. Politicians rename streets, stadiums and cities temporarily. Landmarks are painted in lights representing the 11 eras. Swift becomes ubiquitous.

So it might not be a coincidence that Alwyn spoke out a week before Swiftmania touches down in London while promoting his film "Kinds of Kindness," which stars Swift's friend Emma Stone. (Side note: "Kinds of Kindness" is a Searchlight Pictures movie. When are we going to hear more about the movie Swift signed with the production company to direct? )

Alwyn opened up to The Sunday Times while Swift played her final night in Liverpool, England .

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate," Alwyn said. "What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in."

Regardless of what happened, the two have moved on and seem to be in better places. You can read more about William Bowery's interview here .

Introducing Mette, Griff and Benson Boone

Although the Swiftie Universe will have you thinking different cities are the "favorite children" based on surprise song choices, special guests, music video reveals or unique announcements, the only city getting some added star power on the international leg is London.

Before her Madrid shows, the singer announced she would add an opening act before Paramore to her shows at Wembley. In Glendale, Arizona, Gayle opened before Paramore with a set of eight songs. That same format is probable for the three newbies .

Mette (pronounced "meh-teh") has a musical repertoire that makes you want to dance. On her website, she describes her sound as "sensual and sweaty." Some of Mette Towley's big bookings include performing in the 2019 movie "Hustlers" and playing Cassandra in the 2019 movie "Cats." As Gen-Z Swifties would say, "The invisible string is stringing." Check out Mette's song "Bet" to get a taste .

Benson Boone dropped a new album, "Fireworks & Rollerblades" in April. The TikTok star had a short stint on "American Idol" before quitting to pursue his career. He said he didn't want to be synonymous with the reality show on his trajectory to stardom. You've more than likely heard his ultra popular song "Beautiful Things."

English singer Griff (Sarah Faith Griffiths) was dubbed the Rising Star at the 2021 Brit Awards. When she was 8, she got an iPod Shuffle with Taylor Swift's album "Fearless" on it. Listen to "Miss Me Too."

A Swift update

1… 2… 3… let’s go b****! If you didn’t see the news (cause you were somewhere else) here are some headlines from the week:

  • What is "Shaking Thrift Shop"? GEMA is a German licensing company for composers, lyricists and publishers. In May, the song "Shaking Thrift Shop" was registered with credits including singer-songwriters Ben Haggerty (Macklemore), Ryan Lewis and Taylor Swift and mega producers Max Martin and Shellback. Swift worked with Max Martin and Shellback on her "1989" and "Reputation" records. The title could hold the key to an original song or possibly be a mashup of the two artist's popular songs ("Shake It Off" and "Thrift Shop"). Swift and Macklemore's teams did not return emails asking for clarification. See for yourself here, reference ID: 22979730-001.
  • Travis Kelce held tight end event in Nashville. The Kansas City football player is one of the founders of Tight End University , a three-day program that brings tight ends together for film study, on-field drills, recovery and rehabilitation. Kelce hosted the event with fellow tight ends George Kittle and Greg Olsen before heading to Cannes, France, to be with his brother and sister-in-law Jason and Kylie Kelce. Will he make a trip over to London? We shall find out! Check out photos from his Tennessee event here.
  • Yes Wales! Cardiff is the only city on the Eras Tour, which encompasses 152 shows, with only one show. The June 18th performance coincided with Scooter Braun's birthday. Swift celebrated with a memorable mashup of "I Forgot that You Existed" and "This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things." Watch her laugh as she sings "'cause forgiveness is the nice thing to do" here.
  • Gracie Abrams releases "Us" duet featuring Taylor Swift , who helped write the bop. Abrams told Billboard Magazine that while the two were writing the song in Swift's Tribeca apartment, they heard a candle fall over and thought it was the singer's cats. A small fire broke out in the Eras Tour star's kitchen and Abrams recorded a video on her phone.

Off to Clownelia Street

We are all ready for it, but is Swift? The big question is when will she announce "Reputation (Taylor's Version)"? If you look at her pattern of 2-1-2-1 (two rerecords in 2021: "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)"; one new era in 2022: "Midnights"; two rerecords in 2023: "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" and "1989 (Taylor's Version)"; one new era in 2024: "The Tortured Poets Department" ), that would mean "Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)" and "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" are coming next year. However, with everyone's attention on the livestreams of the Eras Tour will she make the announcement during her last show in Vancouver?

For "Midnights," Swift released four music videos: "Lavender Haze," "Anti-Hero," "Bejeweled" and "Karma." She's only released a "Fortnight" video featuring Post Malone for "Tortured Poets." Considering the remaining European dates, there's room to release a music video or two before her break in September. And wouldn't a great music video debut in Miami be "Florida!!!" with Florence + The Machine ?

Swift also may be working on a documentary or Eras Tour movie Part 2 because she included two behind-the-scenes clips in her "For A Fortnight Challenge" YouTube Shorts video .

I know everyone is excited for the rerelease announcements, but will Swift throw a "glitch" into her career pattern? She times out the eras for sales, records and awards. So when clowning, remember Swift is a smart business woman. Does it behoove her to release now or wait?

Stories from the West End

In the last section of the newsletter, I like to highlight a Swiftie. Since we just talked about Easter eggs and clowning, why not put a spotlight on the TikTok queen of Taylor theories, Nikki King ?

The North Carolina high school instructor teaches social studies and AP government. She loves following Swift's career, speeches and music videos and posting thoughts on social media. King's TikTok account has 100,000+ followers. She and her friend Ryan came up with the 112-day theory which is a timing hypothesis that Swift makes album announcements every three and a half months.

"I really like puzzles and I really like Taylor Swift's music so I put those two passions together," says King, who is a savant for identifying clues. "It's kind of this massive game. It's a classic dopamine hit, the idea of searching for something and the chance you might find something is fun."

King says Aug. 9 is 112 days after the release of "Tortured Poets." Mark your calendars and let the games begin.

A popular electric car sold in the UK has a "potentially significant" issue that could veer the driver into oncoming traffic, research has found.

Consumer group Which? says it discovered issues with the MG4's lane-assist technology while testing it on public roads.

It said the system, which is designed to keep the car in lane, twice pulled the car onto the wrong side of the road, with the tester having to use a "significant amount of force" to steer it back.

In another incident on a narrow country road, the lane-assist tech steered the car towards an oncoming vehicle, again forcing the tester to manually intervene.

According to Which?, visibility was good in all cases and the wider road had a "clearly defined centre line, while the country road had a clearly defined edge line".

It said the incidents were noticed during testing outside of controlled lab conditions, and couldn't be repeated in subsequent tests.

The issues come despite MG4 boasting a five-star Euro NCAP score, which takes into account safety features such as lane assist.

A spokesperson for the assessment programme told Which? that manufacturers "have a responsibility to ensure that the vehicle performance seen on a test track is also reflected in on-road driving".

Meanwhile, MG told the consumer watchdog it was "aware of some inconsistencies relating to the lane-departure warning system", making it "oversensitive" in certain conditions.

"We have been working on a continuous improvement programme with the supplier and the relevant regulatory authorities," the company said.

"This has resulted in an improved calibration of the ADAS systems, which we are close to having approved. Once this has been completed, we will implement it as a full software upgrade at no expense to the customer."

MG added that customers can turn off the lane-assist function via the car's touchscreen menu - but it insisted it had received no safety-related reports.

The rate of price rises is slowing but consumers are still shopping "more cautiously" at J Sainsbury plc, the company that owns Argos and the Sainsbury's chain of supermarkets announced today.

"Unseasonal" wet weather in recent weeks dampened some sales.

Argos sales were down a worse-than-expected 6.2%, particularly purchases of consumer electronics, most notably gaming sales.

As a result, J Sainsbury plc was the biggest share price faller on the FTSE 100 index of most valuable companies with a 4.34% tumble. Overall the index was down 0.38% on Tuesday morning while the larger FTSE 250 list was 0.15% down.

The strength of the euro still means the pound buys less than for the majority of the last month - £1 = €1.1778. Sterling is also down against the dollar, around levels seen six weeks ago. One pound buys $1.2630.

Bad news for motorists as the oil price is at a two-month high - a barrel of Brent crude oil costs $89.90. It's still below last year's September high point of $98.36.

Just 18% of companies in the UK are led by women, and while data suggests female entrepreneurs are on the rise, men still receive more funding and are entrusted with higher average loans to get them started.

In an eight-part series every Tuesday, Money blog reporter  Jess Sharp  speaks to women who are bossing it in their respective fields - hearing their stories, struggles and advice for those who want to follow in their footsteps by starting a business.

This week, she has spoken to Kelly McCabe, the co-founder of the UK's first virtual cancer care clinic Perci Health...

When Kelly and her co-founder Morgan Fitzsimons set up their business, they made an unusual decision - they sat down and planned when they'd both have children.

It's a topic many men will never feel the need to discuss with their business partners, but as two women, it was something they realistically needed to think about.

"We had a long conversation and made a decision that we would have children at different times so that one person would stay in the business to allow the other to take the time out they needed," Kelly said.

"Of course, you can't plan this thing perfectly, but we were fortunate enough that it kind of happened that way."

Morgan was the first to have her baby and returned to work after a couple of months off, and Kelly gave birth six months later.

A month after having her now nearly two-year-old son, Kelly returned to work and Perci Health has continued to grow ever since.

'Whether it was NHS or private care -  I saw the same problem'

Despite Perci Health being a virtual care clinic, Kelly's career background had nothing to do with app development - she started out in the NHS.

One of the roles she had was helping people with cancer eat and drink while receiving treatment.

Working mostly with people with head and neck cancer, she supported them with tube feeding and their rehabilitation back to solid foods.

After working in a similar area in private healthcare, she realised all cancer patients were experiencing the same problem.

"There was a universal experience at the end of treatment where you would have your final review with your cancer nurse or oncologist, and they would say 'see you again in six months or 12 months time'," Kelly said.

"Patients would come back into our follow-up clinics with all sorts of problems they had been living with for six months or 12 months and no one was really managing them.

"They had just be grinning and bearing it, thinking it was just par for the course after having cancer."

She decided to come up with an idea that would connect people living with cancer with professionals who could provide long-term support and optimise their wellbeing.

Male investors in a male-bias sector

With a plan in mind, she reached out to her friend Morgan, who had a background in digital marketing, and the pair got started working weekends and evenings to build their company.

When COVID hit, they made the decision to "just go for it", quit their jobs and put all their focus on the business.

Their first round of funding came from family and friends, raising £500,000, which gave them enough to pay themselves a reduced salary and hire a small team.

But more funding was needed, and they started reaching out to investors.

With Kelly's clinical experience, the issue she was trying to solve in the health care sector seemed "obvious", but the first hurdle she faced was convincing others that it was "important enough to solve".

"The challenges seemed very obvious to us, but they might not necessarily be obvious to investors, and I think that is particularly true if you're solving a problem that affects women," she said.

"The majority of investors are still male... and when you are trying to describe yourself as a technology company, then sadly there is still a male bias in that sector."

"I'm really sad to say that it's kind of the old-fashioned things you think of, like a lot of them sell on the golf course or over lunch or going shooting, and we don't get invited to golf or to shoot.

"You don't get many female-owned technology businesses, so that was a barrier."

Pregnant, pitching and spotting red flags

While meeting potential investors, Kelly was heavily pregnant and was "nervous" to explain her situation out of fear it would put them off investing.

"When I had my first conversation with our now lead investor, I was 38 weeks pregnant, so we just did all the conversations on Zoom," she said.

"She called and said 'we'd like to invite you in to meet the team and do a formal pitch. Can you do it next week?' and obviously I had to tell her I was heavily pregnant.

"She could tell I was nervous about telling her... but she said she was sorry that I had to explain myself, and we could just delay the pitch.

"We pushed it back about six weeks, but not all investors are that understanding, which is why I was so nervous to explain it."

Unfortunately, Kelly said she was "definitely asked" in the early fundraising rounds if she was planning to have children.

"The feedback from male investments clubs was that women don't know how they feel and may not return to work after having a baby or their motivation to run a business may change," she said.

"Early on, we were just looking for investment and we would have taken any partner, but now these are the red flags that we look for.

"There is some definite progress to be made."

In total, Kelly has raised £5m and still owns 40% of Perci Health.

All the challenges

Away from the challenge of fundraising, Kelly also had to deal with life as a new mum, which brought its own challenges as a business owner.

She explained how having children early in the company's life meant it was still "relatively fragile" and there wasn't the chance to take maternity leave knowing her job would be safe when she returned.

"There was a bit of a juggle with that and needing to go back to work very quickly after the baby was born, and then the other challenge is childcare," she said.

"You don't want to be taking too much money out of your business and you're rewarded with equity rather than a salary - but of course, equity doesn't pay for childcare."

Kelly also found there was an "underestimation" of her abilities from male investors, and it was something she noticed in the choice of language used to describe her.

"I believe women business owners are underestimated and that is evidenced by the fact that less investment goes to us, but there's research that shows women-owned companies are more profitable," she said.

"The language they use is interesting. For example, I'm often described as a conservative CEO within the portfolio because I'm focused on financial preservation... but would my male counterpart be seen as such or would he be seen as having optimal control?"

Kelly's advice

Kelly's top tip is to find a business partner, possibly even two, that can help your business grow.

"Building a business alone would be significantly harder," she said.

"Co-founders just help ease the burden when one of you needs to take time out, so find yourself a good business partner."

She also recommended taking "a lot of time" to build a "strong network", which she said would help "protect you as your business grows".

"There are a lot of female entrepreneurs or female business networks that are great. Morgan and I are members of lots of them," she added.

"It's amazing how the amount of advice and support that we have been given for free from other women just wanting to help."

She said it was important to have a "really thick skin and to be very persistent".

"Even in the very best businesses, you get those 100 no's before you get that one yes," she added.

Morrisons is offering shoppers a free jacket potato with Heinz Cheesy Beanz for the next fortnight.

The supermarket chain has joined forces with Heinz to bring back the popular "ask for Henry" initiative which began in 2022 to help people with financial costs during the cost of living crisis.

The complimentary dish is available every day at Morrisons cafes across the country and allows a customer one free jacket potato and beans per day.

There is also no minimum spend required.

But customers will need to use the discrete phrase "ask for Henry" in order to receive it.

The offer ends on 14 July.

Nike plans to launch a cheaper trainer line in an effort to boost sales.

The sporting company's new range will be priced at around £79 or less and will be available in stores across the world, according to Reuters.

Nike has seen sales growth slow as it battles competition from Adidas, as well as the likes of On and Deckers' Hoka brand.

Last Thursday the company reported a sales decline in its latest quarter.

Nike shares also slumped last Friday, ending the day down 19.98%, the biggest one-day percentage drop in the stock's history.

"This is likely a bid to secure some more price-sensitive consumers," GlobalData analyst Neil Saunders said.

Some NatWest customers with paid-for accounts have experienced a big change to their current account fees in the last few days.

The bank hiked the fee for its Reward Black account from £31 to £36 per month as of 28 June - an extra £60 per year.

Perks of the account include UK and European car breakdown cover, access to more than 1,000 airport lounges and worldwide family travel insurance.

For those with a Reward Platinum account, the fee has gone up to £22 from £20, equating to £24 extra throughout the year.

NatWest said increasing insurance costs were one of the drivers behind the fee increases, as well as the claim rate being reported by third-party providers.

It said it had previously frozen the cost of the accounts for five years.

People who hold silver or platinum club accounts with Lloyds are also experiencing a change to their fees from this week.

Club Lloyds Silver now costs £11.50 a month, up from £10 previously, while the platinum account has gone up from £21 to £22.50 a month.

Anyone looking to avoid the fee hike can downgrade their account to a free account or one with a lower payment. There's also the option to switch to another bank.

Basically… income tax is a levy on the annual earnings of a person or business.

It's the single most important source of revenue for the Treasury, accounting for about a quarter of total tax revenue.

The tax was first introduced by former prime minister William Pitt in 1799 to help pay for the Napoleonic wars.

It was abolished in 1816 but reinstated in 1842 – and has remained a part of the British tax system ever since.

What do I pay income tax on?

If you're employed, you'll pay tax on your annual income if you meet the earnings threshold (more on that later).

Self-employed people pay income tax on their profits, including from services sold through websites or apps.

Income tax can also be levied on other earnings including:

  • Some state benefits
  • Most pensions, including state pensions, company and personal pensions and retirement income
  • Rental income, unless you're a live-in landlord
  • Job benefits
  • Income from a trust
  • Interest on savings over your savings allowance

How much do I have to pay?

The amount of income tax you pay each year depends on how much of your earnings is above your personal tax allowance, and how much falls within each tax band.

Currently, the personal allowance sits at  £12,570  - that's the amount of income you  don't  have to pay tax on.

The threshold has been frozen since April 2022 and is set to remain at the current level until 2028 under plans announced by the Conservatives (Labour have not made any noises about changing this).

Combined with inflation, frozen tax thresholds can lead to something called "fiscal drag" - sometimes referred to as a "stealth tax" - when more people are dragged into paying tax for the first time or paying a higher level of tax.

We've more on that in a previous post from our Basically series...

Different tax bands determine what proportion of your income will be taken as tax each year (these are for England, Wales and Northern Ireland):

  • Personal allowance  - if you earn  up to £12,570  you'll pay  no  income tax
  • Basic rate  - you pay 20% tax on earnings between  £12,571 and £50,270
  • Higher rate  - for earnings between  £50,271 and £125,140 , it's  40%
  • Additional rate  - income of  £125,141 or more  attracts a  45%  tax rate

Scottish income tax bands differ slightly, with the addition of a starter rate, intermediate rate and top rate. Outside of the basic rate, the proportions also differ. You can read more about these on the Scottish government website  here .

How is the tax paid?

The majority of people will pay income tax through PAYE (Pay As You Earn) - the system employers and pension providers use to deduct income tax and national insurance contributions before wages hit bank accounts. This money goes directly to HMRC.

The amount paid is determined by a tax code - more on those in our explainer here...

If you're self-employed earning more than £1,000, or you're a very high earner, you'll likely have to pay tax through self-assessment which is done once a year.

Self-assessments are also needed if you earn over £2,500 from other untaxed income, such as tips or renting out a property.

What does the government spend income tax on?

As we mentioned previously, income tax is the biggest sources of revenue for the government, with the Office for Budget Responsibility predicting it'll raise a whopping  £302.7bn  in the 2024-25 tax year - up from £279.2bn the previous year.

It's not known exactly how the income tax portion of its revenue is spent, but overall, about two-thirds of the government's "day-to-day" spending goes on public services, such as the NHS, schools and prisons.

Around a quarter of all spending is on social security, such as Universal Credit and the state pension.

We feature a lot of data on the changing prices of houses in the UK, but how do they compare to the rest of the world?

New data shows the UK ranked 37th for house price growth out of 56 countries analysed by Knight Frank for the Global House Price Index.

At 1.6% up over the year to the end of March, the UK underperformed (with the global average at 3.6%) but outstripped its European neighbours.

Only 11 countries saw prices fall, eight of which were European, with France (-5.2%) and Germany (-3.9%) feeling the effects of slower economic growth and high recent inflation.

Across all 56 markets, 82% saw annual price growth in the first quarter of the year - the strongest showing since the last quarter of 2022.

"Many markets are suffering from a lack of properties to sell as well as slow new-build delivery, leading to relatively healthy demand pushing prices to new highs," said Liam Bailey, Knight Frank's global head of research.

"In the longer term, however, only lower debt costs will sustain price growth."

With a 52% price increase, Turkey was at the top of the table by a huge margin - 36 percentage points - but there's more to this figure than meets the eye.

Consumer Price Index inflation in Turkey has risen 50% in the year to March, meaning in real terms house prices have actually fallen by 9.9%.

Recently we reported on how Barcelona had cracked down on tourism by planning to abolish short-term holiday lets .

The Spanish city has now gone further in its war on overtourism by banning the display and sale of "offensive" souvenirs.

It says sexist and homophobic messages on some souvenirs are tarnishing Barcelona's image.

The ERC's deputy spokesperson Jordi Coronas said the ban included products such as "penises with the Barcelona brand, T-shirts with sexist or homophobic comments, or simply comments that, when displayed on these products, devalue Barcelona".

Ahead of our Q&A, switching service Uswitch provided us with a list of what it considers the cheapest energy tariffs on the market right now.

It's worth reading the advice from Which? in our Q&A below (see 15.02 post) before deciding to switch from a standard variable tariff (that's what most households are on) - but if you're aware of the risks, then cheaper energy is available...
