Cruise is also a dad to three children. He shares his oldest, Isabella and Connor, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman , and his youngest, Suri , with ex-wife Katie Holmes. While it's clear that Cruise has a great relationship with Isabella and Connor, and both children are active members of his Scientology faith (per The U.S. Sun ), it's less clear what kind of relationship — if any — that he has with Suri. In fact, when Holmes and Cruise divorced, he affirmed that Holmes' desire to keep Suri out of the Scientology faith was a factor in their split (per HuffPost ).

The last public photos of Cruise and Suri date all the way back to 2012, when the two were snapped visiting Disneyland (per Yahoo! ). Here's a look into Tom Cruise's relationship with Suri and where it stands today.

Tom Cruise was so excited about Katie's pregnancy that he bought a sonogram machine

Like a lot of expectant parents, Tom Cruise was ecstatic about the impending arrival of his third child, Suri Cruise. In fact, he was so excited about Suri that he reportedly bought his own ultrasound machine so that he could see her every day. Cruise told Barbara Walters about the purchase, which can cost up to $200,000 (per  BBC News ). He seemed to understand that the purchase was on the lavish end, as he reassured people that the machine would be donated to a hospital after Katie Holmes gave birth.

However, not everyone thought the act was a great idea. In fact, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine issued a statement condemning the act, noting that the buy bordered on abusing the equipment. President Lennard Greenbaum, MD, said, in part, that "Tom Cruise's recent purchase of an ultrasound machine for personal use at home is both inappropriate and in violation of FDA rules addressing the sale of medical equipment."

Tom Cruise described his daughter Suri's birth as 'spiritual'

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri Cruise on April 18, 2006 . From all accounts, and especially from Cruise's, Suri's arrival into the world was fairly extraordinary. In fact, only a few days after her birth, Cruise described the experience to "20/20" and still seemed in awe of everything he witnessed (via ABC News ). He said, "It was everything that we wanted it to be. ... It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable."

Plenty of outlets shared news of Suri's birth, as public interest in the newborn was quite high. CBS News  noted that Suri weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and clocked in at 20 inches long. A representative for Cruise and Holmes also shared information about her name, noting that Suri has Hebrew origins and can mean "princess," as well as Persian roots, which could give her name the meaning "red rose." 

Notably, Cruise and Holmes were also able to leave their home to head to the hospital in private, which was quite a feat considering the vast amount of attention they were receiving at the time.

Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise appeared to have a good relationship until 2012

In 2004, a then-engaged Katie Holmes admitted to Seventeen that she had once fantasized about marrying Tom Cruise (per HuffPost ). Fast-forward a few years, and Holmes found herself walking away from the very marriage she once said she wanted.

From all appearances, Tom Cruise and daughter Suri had a solid parent-child relationship up until 2012. That was the year that Katie Holmes filed for divorce in a move that apparently surprised Cruise. While speaking to German TV network ProSieben (via CBS News ), he admitted that he didn't see the divorce coming at all, saying, "I didn't expect it." He added, "Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humor."

It seems that after he recovered from the shock of his wife of six years wanting a divorce, he bounced back pretty quickly. InStyle noted that the two were able to work through their divorce pretty quickly, with a settlement being reached after only 11 days. 

He admitted that Katie Holmes left him to 'protect' Suri from Scientology

While Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been pretty quiet when it comes for the exact hows and whys of their divorce, when pushed, Cruise definitely let something slip: One of big reasons Holmes said she wanted a divorce was reportedly to "protect" their daughter, Suri, from Cruise's religion, Scientology . The admission came out during his deposition during a libel lawsuit he filed against a tabloid. When asked if Holmes felt she had to protect Suri by leaving the relationship, as reported by  HuffPost , he first replied that the question was "offensive" and that "there is no need to protect my daughter from my religion," before saying, "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."

On top of that, Cruise also admitted that Suri was no longer a practicing member of the religion (per TMZ ). While HuffPost asserts this means Suri has now been deemed a "suppressive person" in the eyes of the Church of Scientology, there have been no public statements made to that effect. Notably, "suppressive" people are often, if not always, "cut off" from those that are still active members of Scientology.

Tom Cruise was not awarded custody of Suri

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hammered out the details of their divorce settlement in 11 days (per InStyle ), which is pretty remarkable. Surprisingly to many, Cruise was not awarded custody of the pair's daughter, Suri Cruise, at all, and instead walked away from the discussions with visitation rights only. In fact, Tom Cruise was told he can visit with Suri up to 10 days a month, according to Us Weekly .

Cruise also committed to a fairly hefty sum for child support, and TMZ reported that he pays over $33,000 a month for Suri's care. While that's noting to sniff at, it's a far cry from the sum a judge could have probably ordered him to pay if the divorce had gone to court, especially as his overall net worth is believed to be approximately $600 million (per Celebrity Net Worth ). Cruise is also in charge of covering any necessary expenses Suri might rack up, including medical and dental insurance, schooling, and college, and he also funds extracurricular activities (per TMZ).

It sounds like Tom Cruise doesn't always see Suri in person

Even though the custody agreement struck between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes makes it clear that he can see their daughter, Suri Cruise, for 10 days a month, it seems like he hasn't been able to make that happen. On top of that, a source apparently close to the situation told Us Weekly that this seems to be a deliberate choice that Cruise is making. The source told the publication, "Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to. He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist."

Outspoken critic of Scientology Tony Ortega spoke to Us Weekly about what might be going on behind closed doors, explaining that it's possible Holmes signed a document agreeing not to speak badly of the religion in order to get full custody. Ortega added that Holmes only had one objective: to take care of Suri. He said, "She wanted to get away and she wanted to get Suri."

In 2013, Tom Cruise admitted he hadn't seen Suri Cruise for 100 days

Things only got messier for Tom Cruise in the year after his divorce was finalized. In 2013, he admitted that he hadn't seen his youngest child for at least 100 days, explaining that his prolonged absence was due to his filming schedule. 

According to  People , Cruise said in a deposition hearing for her lawsuit again Bauer Publishing that it was "impossible" for him to see Suri during that time, and on top of that, he claimed that the then 7-year-old seemed just fine without him. After sharing that he's "very good" at talking to his daughter on the phone, Cruise added, "I also find that, you know, Suri is a very happy child, and confident, and has a good sense of herself."

He further explained that, though he missed Suri's first day of school, that was because his daughter didn't ask him to be there herself.

How long has it been since he's seen his daughter in person?

While Tom Cruise might have been able to explain why he didn't see Suri Cruise for 100 days, he then reportedly missed out on seeing his daughter in person for over 1,000 days. In 2016, In Touch Weekly reported that Cruise had not seen or exchanged words with Suri in over two and a half years. A source allegedly close to the situation told the publication that the pair had been using video chat and text messaging to stay in touch but that it had slowed down, before adding that Suri no longer really bought her father's explanations for why he was missing. The source said, "He uses his film commitments as an excuse, but the truth is that doesn't hold much weight with Suri anymore."

As in the past, some believe that Cruise's religion is the reason why he keeps missing out on his daughter's life. The same source told In Touch as much, noting, "He's disconnected from Katie, and then de facto from Suri, because of her connection to Katie. He hasn't seen her since she was 7."

A friend reportedly said Tom Cruise never meant to 'be estranged' from Suri

Despite Tom Cruise's reportedly prolonged period of estrangement from Suri, an alleged friend of his has stated that the actor never meant to be so far removed from his daughter. While speaking to Hollywood Life in 2019, the friend explained that, even though Cruise isn't with Suri on important days like her birthday, he's always planning for them. The friend said, "Tom does plan to send Suri a gift and call her on her birthday."

The friend added that Cruise has a lot of love for Suri, and that being this distant from his daughter wasn't something he anticipated when he and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri to the world. The friend explained, "Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie and looks forward to repairing the relationship one day."

While it's unclear when Cruise will ever reconnect with his daughter, assuming the reports about their estrangement are true, one thing that is certainly true is that the path getting to this point has been long, winding, and, truth be told, quite confusing. Perhaps the two will grow closer when Suri is an adult.

Tom Cruise doesn't live in the same state as Suri

One factor that likely complicates the relationship between Tom Cruise and daughter Suri is that they don't live in the same state — or even the same country. While Suri lives in New York City with her mom, Katie Holmes, Cruise has reportedly been living in London, England, since April 2021 (per In Touch Weekly ).

A source told the publication that the city is a natural fit for Cruise, explaining that he especially enjoys the rainy weather and being able to walk around his new home. He is also reportedly fond of the city because of the anonymity it lends him. The source said, "If he wears a hat and mask, he can slip into bookstores or antique shops and no one knows it's him. He's got family living there, too, which gives him a sense of belonging."

As for Suri, she and her mom moved to New York following the divorce. Holmes admitted to InStyle in 2020 that the city isn't quite as private as she'd like, but she said that the city is just right for her and Suri. She shared, "What I love about New York is that for me and my child, this is our vibe."

Sadly, the Hollywood action hero has reportedly had little contact with his daughter ever since divorcing Katie, and in a defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media in 2013, Tom admitted he hadn’t seen Suri for three months. “Listen, when there is a divorce… things change,” he said in a deposition. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

During the same lawsuit, he also confessed that his link to the controversial Church of Scientology had an impact on why he was estranged from his daughter. When asked by lawyers if Katie had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom replied: “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

Katie opted to bring Suri up in New York, and the mother-daughter duo are often seen out and about living a normal life away from Hollywood. Back in 2017, she told Town & Country magazine that she took a step back from her career in order to give Suri a stable childhood. “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now. It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed,” she explained.

While Tom has seen his career go from strength to strength, his relationship with his daughter is reportedly non-existent, and just last year, it was rumoured the Top Gun star hadn’t seen Suri in years, and was not a part of her life. According to the rules of the Church of Scientology, members are forbidden from associating with non-believers, and because neither Katie or Suri were Scientologists, Tom could not have a relationship with them.

In 2020, former Scientologist Leah Remini claimed the religious organisation believes the 61-year-old actor “can’t be connected to Suri”. She told The New York Post: “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Way back when, the "Mission Impossible" star was bursting at the seams with excitement for the birth of the only child  he shares with ex Katie Holmes , resulting in the revelation that he purchased a $200,000 sonogram machine so he could see her anytime he wanted.

"I'm a filmmaker — I need to see the rushes," he told GQ at the time (via Hollywood ). "At first we did it a lot. I don't know how many times, but I did not exceed FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations." When Suri was finally born, Tom expressed profound awe. "It [the birth] was everything that we wanted it to be. It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable," he shared with  "20/20" reporter Deborah Roberts . "What words can you use? It's still something that I'm processing and keep reliving."

However, the dynamic between Tom and Suri experienced a dramatic shift over the years since his highly publicized split from Holmes, resulting in a strained and distant relationship with Suri. In a surprising revelation, the actor asserted that his affiliation with the Church of Scientology played a big part in the estrangement.

Tom Cruise's ties to Scientology got in the way

The intricacies surrounding Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' divorce remain a mystery to this day, but rampant speculation has repeatedly suggested that it had something to do with Cruise's deep ties with Scientology. Knowing that she couldn't escape the shackles of religion if she were to approach the split the conventional way, the "Dawson's Creek" alum reportedly decided to blindside her ex-husband with divorce filings instead and go off the grid with Suri.

Interestingly, this isn't something Cruise has explicitly denied. During his deposition in his $50 million libel suit against a media outfit that alleged he abandoned Suri, he was pressed on whether Holmes left him "in part to protect Suri from Scientology" (via HuffPost ). The "Top Gun" star was backed into a corner then, so he had no choice but to respond: "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes." However, he countered by asserting, "There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion," rendering the point essentially moot.

Tom Cruise reportedly hasn't seen Suri in years

Despite the abrupt nature of their split, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes finalized their divorce in record time. The former couple only took 11 days to iron out the kinks in their separation with Holmes getting sole custody of Suri and $400,000 a year in child support payments until Suri turns 18 — though Cruise was granted ample visitation options.

But he has reportedly never fully utilized his visitation privileges, and initially he chalked it up to the complications of his divorce from Holmes. "Listen, where there is a divorce — if you look at this also in terms of Suri coming to me and certain agreements that you have, when a divorce occurs things change," he said in the deposition (via Radar Online ). "And it's more complicated, as everyone knows when that is, when that occurs, and there are certain agreements; now you have to ask for permission and organize schedules to make things happen. So it wasn't — it's not an ideal scene. It's not an ideal situation."

Unfortunately, it continued over the years, and his relationship with Suri is practically non-existent to this day. A source confirmed with  Page Six that the actor has "no part" in his daughter's life, and this will likely persist as long as he's deeply embedded in Scientology, as the organization prohibits its adherents from associating with former members. "This is his loss, his issue, his problem," another source said. "He must be really brainwashed."

Tom Cruise continues to be estranged from his daughter, Suri Cruise, Page Six can confirm.

A source tells us exclusively that the “Mission: Impossible” star, 60, has not seen the 16-year-old in a very long time and is not a part of her life.

Reps for Tom did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The movie star welcomed Suri with his then-girlfriend, Katie Holmes, in April 2006, but after the former couple split in 2011 , the father-daughter duo drifted further and further apart.

Tom admitted in transcripts from his 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media that he had not seen Suri for three months right after he and Holmes, now 44, called it quits.

“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” he told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

During a deposition for that same $50 million suit — which was ultimately settled — the “Top Gun” star confessed that his ties to Scientology had played a pivotal role in why he was separated from his kid.

When asked whether Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom responded at the time, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

In 2016, the controversial church was once again blamed for keeping Tom and Suri apart because, according to its rules, members are forbidden from associating with nonbelievers.

Since neither Suri nor Holmes were Scientologists, Tom reportedly could not have a relationship with either one.

“This is his loss, his issue, his problem,” a source told Page Six at the time. “He must be really brainwashed.”

Former Scientologist Leah Remini told The Post in 2020 that Scientology considers Holmes a “suppressive person,” which is an “enemy,” and therefore Tom believes he “can’t be connected to Suri.”

The “King of Queens” alum, who has been fighting to publicly expose the alleged misdeeds of the Church of Scientology, speculated of Tom, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Aside from the drama involving her father, Suri appears to live a relatively normal life with her mom in New York City.

Over the years, she has been photographed casually going for a stroll in the Big Apple and hanging with a small group of friends .

In 2017, Holmes spoke about wanting to give her daughter a “stable” childhood .

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum told Town & Country at the time, “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now.

“It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed.”

Holmes’ rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

At her graduation Friday from LaGuardia High School in New York City, the 18-year-old opted to give her name as “Suri Noelle” instead of Suri Cruise; she also used that name earlier this year when she appeared in a high school production of the jukebox musical “Head Over Heels.” Noelle is the middle name of her mother, Katie Holmes.

The “Risky Business” actor appears to have skipped Suri’s graduation weekend to hang out instead Saturday with all the celebs at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in London , where he is filming another “Mission: Impossible” installment.

Holmes and Suri didn’t seem bothered by his absence on graduation day. The mother-daughter duo, perhaps eager to “shake it off,” were seen giggling and taking photos together outside of the graduation venue in celebration of Suri’s achievement.

Suri was born in 2006, just before her parents tied the knot. TomKat stayed together until 2012, when Holmes filed for divorce , but Cruise was plagued by rumors that he had abandoned Suri in the process. In a 2013 defamation lawsuit filed by Cruise against Life & Style and In Touch publisher Bauer Publishing, the “Mission: Impossible” actor said, “The assertion that I ‘abandoned’ Suri after my divorce is patently false. I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.”

Cruise said he and Suri, who was then 6, “spoke on the phone nearly every day” and that he “regularly asked for and received updates concerning her friends and school life.”

Cruise is also the father of Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, whom he adopted with Nicole Kidman when they were married. Last year, he was photographed in public with Bella and Connor, reportedly for the first time in 15 years.

As Suri Cruise reached her 18th birthday, rumours have swirled that she is no longer in contact with her famous dad Tom Cruise .

Suri celebrated her big day with her mum, Katie Holmes , spending the afternoon shopping in the New York sunshine.

Tom, 61, was nowhere to be seen and is currently filming for a new project in London with no word on whether he sent any birthday wishes.

Their relationship is said to be so strained that Suri has decided to ditch her last name, going instead by Suri Noelle — her mother’s middle name.

In 2016, a US outlet reported the teenager  has a huge rift with her father and the pair have not been in contact for years.

Tom, who has two more children, hasn’t been pictured with Suri for years but is believed to have been paying child support as per his and Katie’s divorce settlement.

Was Tom Cruise involved in Suri’s childhood?

In April 2006, Katie and Tom revealed to the world they had welcomed a baby girl and five months later they graced the cover of Vanity Fair with Suri in their arms.

They married in a Scientologist church months later and lots of pictures of Tom out and about carrying his newborn cropped up.

‘My whole life I always wanted to be a father,’ he gushed to the publication at the time, having adopted Connor and Isabella with Nicole Kidman previously.

‘I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.’

Things seemed to be going swimmingly until six years later when the Dawson’s Creek star filed for divorce while Tom was away filming Oblivion.

When was Tom Cruise last seen with Suri?

Around the time of the divorce was the last time Tom was publicly pictured with Suri, taking her to Disney World in 2012.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Top Gun star said: ‘Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.’

The high profile split was said to be in part due to Katie’s fears around Scientology, after members of the group moved into their home.

Speaking to  the Daily Mail before his death, founder Ron Miscavige said the decision ‘didn’t sit so well with Katie, of course, and it hurt the marriage.’

When the divorce was settled, the Batman Begins star was granted sole custody plus $400,000 (£315,456) per year in child support until Suri turned 18.

It’s reported that Tom has not seen Suri in the 10 years since, with the pair being no contact for the last three years.

A source told Heat magazine: ‘Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time.’

Has Katie Holmes said anything about Suri and Tom’s relationship?

Katie has not commented on Tom’s relationship with their daughter but has been incredibly open about how protective she feels over Suri’s privacy.

‘What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,’ she told Glamour last year.

‘I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.’

‘I love her so much,’ the mom-of-one told InStyle in 2020. ‘My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality, to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident and able.

‘And to know it. She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.’

Tom Cruise’s relationship with his daughter, Suri Cruise, is a topic that has long-bewildered fans of the actor.

In the 2000s, Cruise and Katie Holmes were regularly blasted across tabloids with their daughter. But, following their divorce in 2012, Cruise’s public appearances with Suri were rare.

Here are all the details on Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise's relationship now.

Does Tom Cruise see Suri?

Rumors have circulated that Cruise's role in the Church of Scientology has complicated his relationship with his youngest child.

Tom Cruise has not been seen publicly with Suri since 2012 and is reportedly estranged from his daughter.

According to Us Weekly, it has been 11 years since the "Top Gun" star was seen publicly with Suri, who is now 16 — almost 17 — years old.

It is unclear whether he has seen or spoken to her behind closed doors but Page Six claims the star has not seen Suri since she was 7.

“If he wanted to see her, he could see her,” one source told Page Six . “Even people in prison have a right to see their children.”

Katie Holmes has custody of Suri but Cruise was given visitation rights.

The “Mission Impossible” actor and the “Dawson’s Creek” alum settled proceedings just 11 days after Holmes filed for divorce. Holmes was granted custody of their daughter.

Cruise was given visitation rights of 10 days per month but sources claim he opts not to see her.

“He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist,” claimed an Us Weekly source in 2018.   Cruise reportedly pays over $33,000 per month in child support for Suri.

“He still loves her,” a source told Hollywood Life in 2019.

“Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie and looks forward to repairing the relationship one day.”

Katie Holmes allegedly took Suri away from Tom Cruise to save her from Scientology.

Cruise is a member of the controversial Church of Scientology, a religious group often accused of being both a dangerous cult and a manipulative profit-making business.

Holmes also studied Scientology during their marriage but reportedly left Cruise to avoid becoming further entrenched in the group.

The actress now lives primarily in New York City with Suri, a relocation that may have helped her get her daughter out of the church.

In a 2013 libel suit against Bauer Media, whose magazines claimed he abandoned his daughter Suri Cruise, Cruise labeled the suggestion that Holmes divorced him "in part to protect Suri from Scientology" as “offensive.”

However, when asked if his ex-wife ever indicated that she left because of the religion or because she wanted to protect their daughter from Scientology, Cruise responded:

"Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."

This likely means that Suri and Holmes have both been deemed a “Suppressive Person” by the church — a term Scientologists use to describe people who impede the progress of individual Scientologists or the Scientology movement.

Sources say that anyone who leaves the church is cut off from all members of the church, including their immediate family.

It is suspected that Holmes has been banned from speaking about Scientology.

The actress has never publicly spoken about her ex-husband’s religion nor why she left the church and critics of the group have suggested that she might be legally restricted from doing so.

Tony Ortega, former editor-in-chief of The Village Voice and a critic of Scientology, told Us Weekly that Holmes probably signed “some nondisclosure agreement saying she wouldn’t say anything bad about Scientology.”

“She wanted to get away and she wanted to get Suri,” Ortega explains.

He also suggested that she has been advised not to associate with Leah Remini, a fellow actress who has been outspoken about leaving the church.

“I’m sure her father, who’s a smart attorney, has probably told her that hanging out with Leah would be considered disparaging the church in the eyes of Tom and the church,” Ortega says.

Tom Cruise appears to have a relationship with the children he shares with Nicole Kidman.

Cruise also shares two adult children, Connor and Isabella, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman and, by all accounts, seems close with them. 

Both children, who were adopted by the former couple, recently promoted their father’s new movie, “Top Gun: Maverick” on their social media platforms.

Connor and Isabella are active members of the Church Of Scientology.

“They are adults," Kidman said about their faith in 2018. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them."

Tom Cruise’s Estranged Daughter Suri Cruise Has Moved on to “a Life Without Daddy” (EXCLUSIVE)

From the moment she was born, Suri Cruise ’s every move has been in the spotlight. At the time, she was celebrated as the child of a beloved Hollywood couple. But as she’s grown up, the focus has been more on her relationship — or lack thereof — with her estranged father, Tom Cruise . But with all the drama surrounding Tom’s highly-publicized divorce from the 12-year-old’s mother, Katie Holmes , fans are often left asking: Does Tom see Suri? Keep reading to learn everything we know about the situation when it comes to Tom and his youngest child.

Does Tom see Suri?

In short, the answer is no; it’s been more than four years since the actor, 55, was last seen publicly with Suri. The last time they were photographed together was in September 2013, just slightly more than a year after Tom and Katie finalized their divorce. And after all this time, Suri has gotten used to life without Tom. “Tom’s been out of their lives for so long, she and Katie have moved on,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style, “to a life without Daddy.”

It would appear that they don’t see each other privately, either, as last June, sources told In Touch that Tom opted not to see his daughter despite being just 23 miles away from her on Father’s Day. “Tom could have easily made the trip to see Suri. It only takes about 30 minutes without traffic,” a source said at the time. “It would’ve only added a few hours to his busy schedule.”

Tom used to go out of his way to see his daughter, though. “When she was eight or nine, Suri must have always thought that Tom would show up with presents and take her out for a shopping spree or to an amusement park on her birthday, like he used to,” an insider shared with Life & Style .

Scientology may play a role in their estrangement.

There’s no clear answer on why Tom doesn’t see his kid — but it would appear that his role as an active member of Scientology impacts his decision. An insider previously told In Touch that Tom has kept a distance from his daughter because Katie was labeled a “suppressive person” — aka an “SP” — after leaving the church of Scientology. The term describes someone who stands in the way of spiritual progress (and is often used to define someone who left the religion). “Suri hasn’t been labeled a ‘supressive person,’ but Katie has,” an insider said at the time. “And her closeness to her daughter likely makes seeing both off-limits to Tom.”Suri basically doesn’t know life any other way.

At this point, her dad has been out of her life almost as long as he was in her life — and as a result of missing her formative years, Suri has pretty much adapted to life without her father. “Suri has stopped missing him,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style last September. “Katie doesn’t want to bring up his name and have Suri start missing him all over again.”

As a result, Katie — who rarely, if ever, mentions her ex in interviews — doesn’t even bother speaking of him at home. The insider added, “Katie is more adamant than ever about not talking about him, publicly or privately. With Tom missing from Suri’s life for so long, Katie believes her daughter only has distant memories of him. At this point, Katie doesn’t want to bring up his name and have Suri start longing to see Tom all over again. It would be too painful for both of them.”

But she didn’t always feel that way. “At one time, Katie felt that Suri needed Tom’s presence in her life,” and insider told Life & Style . “But not anymore. Katie tells Suri that she, her parents, relatives and friends are all the family she needs. Together, they’re happier than ever.”

Even though Katie has sworn off talking about Tom, he hasn’t done the same when it comes to Suri.

Despite the fact that he barely knows his daughter — or so it seems — Tom hasn’t shied away from answering questions about the 12-year-old. Last year, while on a press junket for his failed movie The Mummy , a reporter asked the actor if he thought Suri was bit by the “acting bug” and would follow her parents’ footsteps. He replied, “You never know, you never know.”

Suri isn’t without a father figure, despite her estrangement with Tom.

Katie Holmes began dating Jamie Foxx around the same time Suri last saw her father — and as their relationship grew stronger, so did Jamie’s relationship with Suri — who sees the Annie actor as a de facto dad. “Katie’s tried so hard to be all things to Suri, [but] there’s a definite hole there left by Tom, and Katie does her best to fill it,” a source previously told Hollywood Life . “She’s grateful to have Jamie in her life now, he’s becoming more and more of a father figure to Suri and she’s very grateful for that.”

Still, there’s hope that Suri and Tom may one day reunite.

The death of Tom’s mother, Mary, was a wake-up call to the father-of-three — who was inspired by her sudden passing out to reach out to his daughter. At the time, a source told In Touch , “Tom now wants to re-establish his relationship with his daughter and begin seeing her on a regular basis,” the source said, adding that he is “ready to ramp up his relationship with her in a big way.” However, it would appear the two haven’t reconnected quite yet.

Deal of the Day

It might be hard for the two to reconcile, though, because at this point, it seems he barely even knows his little girl. “I know Tom sees pictures of Suri, and comments on them from time to time to friends,” an insider told Life & Style , “but he really doesn’t have a grasp of the mature young lady she’s turning into.”

After all, he has a pretty solid relationship with his adult children.

In addition to Suri, Tom has two children with ex Nicole Kidman — 25-year-old Bella and 23-year-old Connor. The two were raised primarily by their father — and, notably, are followers of Scientology — and appear to have strong relationships with their dad, which means there may still be hope for Suri and Tom.

On Friday, Suri received her diploma from LaGuardia High School in a ceremony held at United Palace, a theater in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Her famous mom was there to celebrate the moment, and beamed with pride as she hugged her daughter and posed for photos.

Holmes looked chic in a cream long-sleeved polo and tan pleated trousers, which she paired with shiny silver kitten heels, tortoiseshell sunglasses, and a beige Celine handbag. In pictures obtained by Page Six , 18-year-old Suri can be seen wearing a red graduation gown over a summery white midi dress. The teen carried a matching red graduation cap in her hand as she walked down the street in strappy gold heels with a red floral detail.

Suri’s estranged father , Cruise, did not attend the event. Instead, he was spotted at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in London. According to Page Six, Suri seems to have dropped her famous father’s last name entirely, going by “Suri Noelle” in the graduation ceremony’s pamphlet. As previously reported , the two have not spoken in several years due to Cruise’s long involvement with the Church of Scientology.

But Suri is incredibly close with her mother. The duo can often seen exploring the city together, wearing coordinating outfits and grabbing coffee. “You’d struggle to find a mom-daughter duo who are more in sync with each other. They’re a real team—their connection is a beautiful thing to witness,” an inside source told US Weekly in 2020.

In a recent stroll through New York City with her mother, the 17-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise captivated public attention, sparking conversations about her striking resemblance to her famous father.

Dressed in a stylish outfit that effortlessly blended contemporary fashion with nostalgic '90s vibes, Suri Cruise , 17, was immediately dubbed her dad, Tom Cruise's , double by fans and onlookers. Comments flooded social media, with one fan noting , "I see nothing but dad in her face." Another echoed the sentiment, saying she's "Tom's spitting image," and unmistakably her "father's daughter."

One commenter found it funny that Suri was one of the most famous celebrity children but was now living a "normal healthy life." The commenter remarked on how interesting it was to watch Suri grow into the beautiful young woman she is today.

For Katie Holmes , protecting her daughter's privacy while nurturing her persona has been paramount. "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person," she shared . Katie also remarked that she could see '90s style coming back through her daughter and wished she had taken her mother's advice to save some clothing items from her youth.

The artistic talents of Tom's daughter have not gone unnoticed. Her vocal rendition of "Blue Moon" graced the opening credits of the movie "Alone Together," directed by her mother, showcasing her impressive musical prowess.

Additionally, she contributed her singing to "Rare Objects," another testament to her burgeoning artistic talents. "I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her," her mother mentioned .

The outing was to celebrate her famous mom's 45th birthday in New York City. When fans saw Cruise's teenage daughter, many marveled at the striking resemblance between the father and daughter.

Fans of the "Top Gun" star filled the comment section of the social media pictures showing Suri out celebrating with her mom, Katie Holmes, pointing out how much she looks like her dad. In this regard, one fan stated , "She's Tom's twin." Another supporter commented , "She's her father's clone..."

Tom Cruise Seemingly Misses Daughter Suri’s HS Graduation as He Attends Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Tom Cruise was nowhere to be seen when daughter Suri Cruise graduated high school. The teenager got her diploma from New York’s LaGuardia High School on June 21 with mom Katie Holmes by her side, but the Top Gun star did not appear to be in attendance.

One day later, Tom, 61, popped up at Wembley Stadium in London, England, where he attended Taylor Swift’s Eras tour. He sat in a VIP section of the stadium and danced along to the pop star’s hit songs with Travis Kelce and other A-listers, including Hugh Grant, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher .

Suri, 18, was all smiles at her graduation, as seen in photos obtained by Page Six . She was beaming as she wore her cap and gown and hugged friends after the ceremony. Katie, 45, also had a big smile on her face as she celebrated with her only child.

In her graduation pamphlet, Suri was reportedly listed as Suri Noelle, without her famous father’s last name included in the moniker. In May, her name was listed the same way on a casting sheet for her school’s theater production of Head Over Heels.

Tom and Suri have not been photographed together since January 2012. He and Katie separated that June and finalized their divorce the following month. Katie and Suri have been living in New York City while Tom keeps busy around the world with his movie career.

Ahead of her high school graduation, Suri revealed that she will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh this fall. She was also photographed heading to her high school prom on June 18, looking all grown up in a patterned dress and gold heels for the occasion. She appeared to have a date for the event, as photos showed a brown-haired male with his arm around her waist at one point in the evening.

While Tom keeps details of his relationship with Suri private, he appears to still be close with his older two kids, Isabella Cruise and Connor Cruise, whom he shares with ex Nicole Kidman . Tom and Nicole, 57, were married in 1990 and adopted their two children during the relationship. They divorced in 2001.

In 2023, Tom was photographed attending a hockey game with Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29. The sighting shut down speculation that Bella was estranged from her famous father, which began after he did not attend her 2015 wedding to Max Parker. Nicole was also not there.

At the time, Bella insisted to the Daily Mail , “Of course [we talk]. They’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of s--t.” However, her husband also weighed in on whether it was difficult not having Tom there to walk Bella down the aisle, adding, “Yeah. It is what it is.”

Despite all the controversy surrounding his personal life, Tom looked at ease while attending the Eras tour. He had a big smile on his face throughout the evening and was seen chatting with Travis, 34, as they both showed off their dance moves to songs like “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off.”

Apparently, now that she's 18 and his financial responsibilities, along with the custody agreement, are over, Tom Cruise is confident their relationship will improve gradually .

An insider claimed that the actor "feels she's old enough to make her own choices" and "wants to reach out and build a better relationship with her".

Of course, if that's true, it will take a lot of effort, as it looks as if their relationship is almost non-existent, but it's good that he hasn't lost hope.
