I had booked an 8 day group tour to the Golden Triangle. However, 2 days before the start of the trip I found out that I was the only participant on this trip. Of course, as a solo female traveler I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. I was picked up from the airport by Manish and he took me to my hotel where I could rest a bit and freshen up. A few hours later Manish picked me up again to show me the moonlit Indian Gate and to try some delicious street food. We hit it off right away and I felt completely at ease. Throughout the whole tour Manish made sure I was comfortable, had the best food, that I had superb guides at the sightseeing points etc….to put it in nutshell, it was one of the best tours I have ever done and I can truly recommend Manish and DM Travel India Tours to everyone who wishes to see this colorful country in an easygoing way. Thank you 🙏

Safaris by road or plane

Kenya is the perfect safari country... and without question, paradise on earth for nature lovers!

All vegetation zones are present, whether desert, grass, bush and tree savannas, gallery forests along rivers, swamps, fertile highlands, tropical rainforests, mountains or large lakes.

A number of large and small nature reserves are home to the most valuable treasure of this impressive travel destination, its wild animals.

We would like to give you the experience of visiting these last natural paradises on earth. This is our task, which we fulfill with heart and passion:

Unforgettable safaris, fascinating landscapes, romantic nights around the campfire under the sparkling starry sky, elephants trumpeting at the waterhole, a lion roaring hoarsely in the distance... Your safari happiness is our passion!

And our company's good reputation and satisfied customers are the best recommendation. Personal support is a matter of course for us and we are there for you around the clock! We guarantee all of this... after all, safari is a question of trust!

None of our safaris are the same, these wonderful impressions will remain in your memory forever and ignite the African fever in you!

LandCruiser Safaris

In order to offer you the best possible safari experience, we only use our own Toyota LandCruisers for all of our road safaris.

Thanks to our own specialized workshop, we can guarantee that our off-road vehicles are always in perfect and perfectly maintained condition. These cars take you safely to the most impassable areas - places that would otherwise remain inaccessible. This is how we ensure that your adventure knows no limits. With our vehicles in top shape, nothing stands in the way of your unadulterated road safari enjoyment!

For maximum comfort, we ensure that every guest has enough space and a seat by the window to enjoy the breathtaking view undisturbed.

For optimal observation of wild animals, all of our vehicles are equipped with either a roof hatch or a lifting roof. This allows you to take photos standing up and take a close look at the wildlife. Additionally, each vehicle includes a cool box and a reliable supply of drinking water to keep you refreshed during your safari. If desired and subject to availability, a German-speaking driver will be available to assist you - please contact us in good time.

Our diverse safari offers start from Diani Beach, Mombasa, Nairobi or a location of your choice - entirely according to your individual wishes.

With a road safari you get very close to African nature - an unforgettable experience!

What is a Destination Management Company (DMC)?

by Marie Anne MacRae | 05 7, 2021 | TTC

May 7, 2021 | TTC

by Marie Anne MacRae

The travel industry is a very big place. You may have worked in it for many years and still never heard of a destination management company. If you haven’t, though, you could be missing out on some important business opportunities.

To celebrate The Travel Corporation’s expansion of our DMC offering , we’re giving the low-down on these crucial pieces of the travel and tourism puzzle. Let’s take a look.

What is a DMC?

A destination management company is an enterprise that manages a range of products and services at a popular travel destination. Put very simply, they’re the companies that make travel experiences work. Whether you’re looking for someone to provide a safari trip, coach tours, cruises, catering or just about any other travel service you can name, it’s a DMC that makes it happen.

DMCs are usually smaller, local organizations that have been on the ground at a destination for years. They bring crucial local knowledge and experience to a travel enterprise, giving international partners the insight they need to create safe and exciting products.

What services can they help me with?

Name any travel experience and you’ll find a DMC out there that can provide it for you. The obvious services they provide are travel experiences that might require specialized equipment or skills, like coach tours, flotilla holidays or safaris. But they can also provide a huge range of smaller services that make the holiday planning experience a lot smoother. These include things like airport pickups and transfers, accommodation bookings, vehicle rental, catering or event management. If you’re looking to provide a really unique experience, such as bungee jumping, rainforest hikes or exclusive entry to local sights, the easiest way to provide it is by going through a DMC.

Why work with a DMC?

Destination Management Companies have two crucial benefits: they’re experts in the local area and specialists in the particular services that they offer. That means that you, as a travel professional, don’t have to be. Working with a DMC allows you to book any experience in any location around the world in the confidence that it will be delivered safely and to a high standard.

However, the benefits don’t end there. Most DMCs have been running their travel businesses successfully for decades. That means they have localized knowledge about what works and what doesn’t in their region. They know that this road is usually flooded in summer, or that the best views of that valley are at sunrise – the secrets that you simply can’t know. That allows you to create better travel experiences that are more likely to do well in a competitive market.

Finally, many DMCs operate a huge range of different services or have partners that do so. That means that they can act as a one-stop shop when you’re creating a travel package. Bring on a DMC partner and there’s a good chance they can book just about everything you’ll need.

Who hires a DMC?

DMCs are a critical piece of the puzzle for international travel agents. If you’re building a travel product with inclusive services, a destination management company will help you put all the pieces together and plug any logistical gaps. They’re also perfect if you’re building something completely new for the market; they’ll offer a great perspective on the most successful travel experiences in the region.

DMCs are also ideal if you’re creating bespoke travel packages for an exclusive clientele. The huge range of services they provide allows you to be more flexible and plan more complex itineraries. And when your client’s needs change, the DMC is there to help you adapt on the fly, providing services as and when you need them.

DMCs are a big help no matter how you work. To learn more about what DMCs can do for you here at TTC, take a look at our services page. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is.

Sri Lanka Tour Destinations

Explore sri lanka.

At DM Travels Ceylon, we offer the best travel excursions in the island that let you enjoy a wide range of captivating things to do in Sri Lanka. For over 20 years our team has put together travel itineraries for many happy customers, who have travelled across the island witnessing wildlife and nature, adventure, culture, shopping destinations and even entrainment around Colombo. When it comes to excursions that allows you to truly explore Sri Lanka, we know we are the best.

Colombo is in an exciting phase in its history. There is a sense of renewed ambition now that peace has been restored to Sri Lanka, but it remains a compact, manageable coastal city offering excellent value and an atmosphere all of its own. Ancestral mansions stand side-by-side with modern hotels springing up into the skyline. Street bazaars buzz right next to a few modest shopping malls. While some roads are clogged with vehicles, there remain many sleepy tree-lined boulevards. Colombo might be mildly chaotic at times but it has at its heart a relaxed and genial air.

Nuwara Eliya

Drive into the highlands from Kandy and discover Sri Lanka at its most dramatic: a land of gurgling mountain streams and steep hillsides cloaked in luminous green tea, sweet-scented Cyprus and Eucalyptus trees. Nuwara Eliya, nestled at the foot of a mountain, was made into a summer retreat by the British in the early 1800s and much of its colonial character still remains. Ella attracts largely budget travellers, Haputale has panoramic views to the south and Dickoya offers upmarket tea bungalows in enchanting surroundings. Plus one of the most enchanting train journeys in the world.

Hill-Country-gallery-pop-up-1

Galle is thriving. The fortified old town is enjoying an artistic renaissance and the beautiful beaches around it are dotted with luxurious villas and classy boutique hotels. The revival of Galle has also influenced its coastline and it is this area – predominantly south of the town – where Galle’s pull is at its strongest that we prefer to term the Galle coast. Galle’s main attraction is the 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO protected World Heritage site. But it is also the gateway to the upmarket beach settlement of Thalpe and the sandy beaches of Unawatuna, Koggala and Habaraduwa.

The bustling hill-country capital of Kandy lies on a plain amidst towering hills and looped by Sri Lanka’s largest river: the Mahaweli. The town’s pleasant temperate climate, its scenic location and its rich history has made it a favourite haunt for travellers. It is also the natural gateway to the stirring peaks of Sri Lanka’s hill country. During the month of August, Kandy dazzles with the sounds and lights of the Kandy Perehara – a magnificent procession where a sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha is majestically paraded on elephant back along the streets.

Kandy-gallery-pop-up-1

Anuradhapura

Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle has enthralled millions of travellers. It covers the north-central towns of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Dambulla where extensive archaeological ruins, protected as World Heritage Sites, provide a glimpse into the island’s history. It is here that Sri Lanka’s kings developed remarkably advanced civilisations. The shimmering central plains have low rainfall and several hotels are sumptuous enough to provide a holiday in their own right.

Untitled-sbnebad

Sri Lanka’s cove-like south coast, which Red Dot defines as a long stretch from Weligama to Kelamitiya, consists of delightful coral-protected bays and headlands and offers a greater diversity of beaches than the west coast. Stunning tropical sandy beaches, rural fishing villages, untouched wilderness and a vibrant cultural heritage makes the southern coastal belt an ideal holiday experience for those wishing to escape the larger tourist centres.

South-Coast-gallery-pop-up-1

Situated at the northern tip of Sri Lanka, the Jaffna peninsula is steeped in history. Explore Jaffna town and surrounding areas, or visit one of seven inhabited remote islands. The landscape is dotted with Palmyrah Palms and lagoons where flamingos flock after the rains. Jaffna underwent much hardship due to terrorism and, ultimately, a full-scale war between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan armed forces which ended a 26-year conflict. The trauma lingers, but since 2009, the people of Jaffna are rebuilding their lives with renewed hope. An enriching experience for the adventurous traveller.

Jaffna-gallery-pop-up-1

The north-west coast begins with the popular beach resort of Negombo – only a few miles from the international airport – but venture further north for whale and dolphin spotting, game parks and lagoons. Negombo apart, the remote coastal towns to the far north, Kalpitiya and Mannar, remain untouched by mass tourism. Wilpattu is arguably Sri Lanka’s most scenic national park, the seas off the coast of Kalpitiya are home to dolphins and whales while Mannar is a haven for exotic migrant birds from October to March. A largely unchanged region awaiting discovery.

Are you constantly dreaming of exotic destinations and faraway lands? While international travel can be an exciting adventure, let's not forget the beauty and wonder that can be found right in our own backyard. Domestic travel, or exploring your own country, comes with its own set of benefits and can be just as fulfilling as jetting off to foreign lands. In this article, we'll explore the benefits of domestic travel, focusing on the opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture and discover hidden gems that you may have otherwise overlooked.

One of the major advantages of domestic travel is the chance to dive into the local culture of your own country. Every region has its own unique history, traditions, and way of life, and exploring domestically allows you to truly experience and appreciate the diversity that exists within your own borders. Whether it's tasting local cuisine, visiting historical landmarks, or engaging in cultural activities, domestic travel will broaden your horizons and deepen your understanding of your own country.

Another benefit of domestic travel is the opportunity to discover hidden gems that may not be widely known or frequented by international tourists. While popular tourist destinations often have their own charm, they can also be crowded and over-commercialized. On the other hand, off-the-beaten-path locations can offer a more authentic and intimate experience. From picturesque small towns to stunning natural landscapes, domestic travel allows you to uncover the hidden treasures that make your country truly special.

Furthermore, domestic travel is often more cost-effective than international travel. Not only can you avoid the high costs of international flights, but you may also be able to find more affordable accommodation options. By saving money on transportation and lodging, you can allocate your budget towards immersing yourself in local activities and experiences. This allows for a richer and more immersive travel experience without breaking the bank.

Domestic travel also offers the chance to support local businesses and communities. When you explore your own country, you're contributing to the local economy and helping to sustain the livelihoods of people in the tourism industry. Whether it's staying at locally-owned hotels or dining at family-run restaurants, your patronage can make a significant impact on the lives of the people you encounter during your travels.

Lastly, domestic travel allows for greater flexibility and spontaneity. With no international flights to catch or visa restrictions to worry about, you have the freedom to plan shorter trips or take impromptu weekend getaways. This flexibility allows you to explore your country at your own pace and on your own terms, making domestic travel a convenient and accessible option for those with limited time or resources.

In conclusion, domestic travel provides numerous benefits that should not be overlooked. From immersing yourself in local culture to discovering hidden gems, domestic travel offers a unique and rewarding experience. So, before you start planning your next international escapade, why not consider exploring your own country and all it has to offer? You may just be surprised by the incredible experiences and hidden wonders that await you right in your own backyard.

When Can I Travel to Central America?

You may want to see also

When it comes to domestic travel, there are several transportation options available that can help you reach your destination. Whether you prefer the freedom of a road trip, the convenience of flying, or the relaxation of train travel, each option has its own advantages. In this article, we will explore these transportation options in detail, so you can choose the best one for your next domestic travel adventure.

Road Trips:

Road trips are a popular choice for domestic travel, offering a sense of freedom and flexibility. They allow you to explore various destinations along the way, and you can stop whenever and wherever you want. To plan a road trip, you need a reliable vehicle or you can even consider renting one. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and has all the necessary documents, including insurance.

Before you hit the road, plan your route and research interesting places to visit. Consider the distance, driving conditions, and potential traffic. It's also important to have a GPS or a map to help you navigate and find your way. Pack essentials such as snacks, water, a first aid kit, a spare tire, and tools in case of any emergencies. Don't forget to bring entertainment options like music or audiobooks to keep yourself entertained during the journey.

Flying is a convenient and time-saving option for domestic travel, especially when you need to cover long distances quickly. The first step is to book your flight tickets in advance to get the best fares and secure your seat. Check with different airlines to compare prices and find the most suitable options.

Arrive at the airport early to allow time for security checks and boarding. Make sure you have all the necessary travel documents such as your ID or passport, boarding pass, and any required visas. Pack your belongings in a carry-on bag and a checked bag according to the airline's restrictions. Remember to check the baggage allowance and any prohibited items to avoid any issues with airport security.

Train Travel:

Train travel offers a unique and relaxing way to explore the country. It allows you to sit back and enjoy the scenery while someone else takes care of the driving. Before you book your train tickets, research the train routes, schedules, and fares. Consider the class of service you prefer, as trains often offer different seating options such as coach class, business class, or sleeper cars.

When packing for a train journey, keep in mind that there are usually baggage restrictions, so it's important to pack light and bring only the essentials. Bring some entertainment options like books, magazines, or a tablet to keep yourself occupied during the journey. You can also pack some snacks and drinks to enjoy along the way.

In conclusion, domestic travel offers various transportation options to suit different preferences. Road trips provide freedom and flexibility, flights offer convenience and speed, and train travel allows you to relax and enjoy the scenery. Consider your destination, budget, and personal preferences when choosing the best transportation option for your next domestic adventure. Whatever option you choose, remember to plan ahead, pack accordingly, and enjoy the journey!

Preparing for Holiday Travel: How Many Hours Ahead Should You Arrive at Seattle Airport?

When it comes to domestic travel, one of the most important decisions you have to make is choosing the right accommodation. Whether you prefer the comfort and services of a hotel, the privacy and homely feel of a rental home, or the adventurous experience of camping, there are plenty of options to suit your needs and preferences. In this blog post, we will explore the different accommodation choices available for domestic travelers: hotels, rental homes, and camping.

Hotels are a popular choice for many travelers due to their convenience and amenities. They offer a variety of room types to suit different budgets and preferences, ranging from standard rooms to luxurious suites. Hotels usually provide services such as room service, housekeeping, and concierge, making your stay comfortable and hassle-free. Additionally, most hotels have on-site facilities such as restaurants, bars, swimming pools, fitness centers, and spas, which can enhance your travel experience. When booking a hotel, consider factors such as location, price, amenities, and customer reviews to ensure you find the perfect fit for your trip.

Rental Homes:

If you prefer a more homely and private experience, renting a home is a great option. Rental homes are available in various sizes and locations, ranging from cozy apartments to spacious villas. They often come equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and amenities like Wi-Fi, TV, and laundry facilities. Renting a home allows you to have more space, privacy, and the freedom to cook your meals and relax in a comfortable environment. Additionally, rental homes are often situated in residential areas, giving you a chance to experience the local culture and lifestyle. When choosing a rental home, consider factors such as location, size, amenities, and availability of nearby attractions and services.

For those who love the outdoors and crave an adventurous experience, camping is an excellent option. Camping allows you to reconnect with nature, enjoy stunning landscapes, and experience the serenity of the wilderness. There are various types of camping accommodations available, including tents, campervans, and RVs. Tents are the most basic option, requiring you to bring your own camping gear. Campervans and RVs provide a more comfortable camping experience, as they come equipped with beds, cooking facilities, and bathroom amenities. Many campgrounds offer additional facilities such as shower blocks, picnic areas, and fire pits. When planning a camping trip, make sure to check the availability of campgrounds, the weather conditions, and any necessary permits or reservations required.

In conclusion, choosing the right accommodation is an important aspect of domestic travel. Hotels provide convenience, services, and amenities, while rental homes offer privacy and a homely environment. Camping allows you to immerse yourself in nature and experience the thrill of outdoor living. Consider your preferences, budget, and the type of experience you want to have when deciding on your accommodation choice. Regardless of your decision, ensure that you research and book in advance to secure the best options and make the most of your domestic travel experience.

The Importance of Solo Traveling: Discovering Yourself through Experiences

As travel restrictions start to ease up, many people are considering taking domestic trips within their own country. Domestic travel can be a great way to explore new destinations and support local businesses. However, it is important to be aware of the safety measures that are in place to protect your health and ensure a smooth travel experience. In this blog post, we will discuss the health protocols that are being followed by travel providers and the importance of having travel insurance for your domestic trips.

Many travel providers have implemented various health protocols to ensure the safety of their passengers. These protocols may include mandatory temperature checks, frequent sanitization of common areas and vehicles, and the requirement to wear face masks. Some providers may also limit the number of passengers on each trip to allow for social distancing. It is important to check the specific protocols of your chosen travel provider before you embark on your trip.

In addition to the health protocols implemented by travel providers, it is highly recommended to have travel insurance for your domestic trips. Travel insurance can provide you with coverage for unexpected events such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and lost luggage. In the current situation, having travel insurance can give you peace of mind knowing that you are protected financially if any unforeseen circumstances arise during your trip.

When looking for travel insurance for your domestic trip, make sure to choose a policy that includes coverage for medical expenses, trip cancellations, and travel delays. It is also important to read the fine print and understand the coverage limits and exclusions of the policy. Keep in mind that travel insurance is not just for international trips, but it is equally important for domestic travel as well.

In addition to having travel insurance, it is important to exercise caution and follow the recommended health and safety guidelines during your domestic trip. This includes practicing good hand hygiene, maintaining social distancing, and wearing a face mask in public areas. Avoid crowded places and opt for outdoor activities where possible. If you feel unwell or exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms during your trip, it is important to seek medical attention and follow the local health authority's guidelines.

In conclusion, domestic travel can be a great way to explore new destinations and support local businesses. However, it is important to be aware of the safety measures that are in place and to have travel insurance for your domestic trips. Check the health protocols implemented by travel providers, choose a comprehensive travel insurance policy, and follow the recommended health and safety guidelines during your trip. By doing so, you can enjoy a safe and worry-free domestic travel experience.

Salmon Berry was amazing! We will definitely be coming back to Anchorage and using this tour company for booking our adventures! Office staff were very helpful and friendly! Thank you SB! Sharisse

Five stars and big thanks to our guide, Josh Parks! He has so much knowledge of the area and Alaska. And is clearly a proud native from Palmer.

Best tour company for sure! We had Michelle as our tour guide two days in a ow and she was great! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The dog sled company we went to was very professional and fun! They were very concerned about safety which was great. We also took the Matanuska Glacier Tour with Michelle and Kit-Kat. It was comforting knowing Kit-Kat has a medical background. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and eased anxiety when icy parts of the trail got scary. Also super accommodating and patient with me as I have 2 ACL tears and has to go slower. I would definitely recommend this company. Also- great food choices both days! My only recommendation would be to allow folks to spend a bit more time in Talkeetna, some folks on our trip barely got to eat since they spent time shopping. For us it was okay, but other folks needed a bit more time.

Absolutely wonderful tour. Everyone was so professional and helpful. They assisted in every way possible, especially with our disabled sister. They administered first aid to my husband when he was run into by a runaway dog sled. VERY caring people. I HIGHLY recommend this adventure. It was enjoyed immensely by everyone on our tour. Ben was very thorough with his tour. Aiden, our bus driver was exceptional. He provided commentary and assistance at every turn. He handled the bus VERY well even when driving in extreme wind. Our sled dog guides were very attentive to everything going on while sledding. I would gladly do this tour over and over.

We took the Anchorage Eco Tour with Joan and Salmonberry tours. We were the only two on the tour, so it was personalized just for us. We stopped at the hatchery where they breed 8 types of fish for the local sport fishing industry. The facility is impressive...the largest hatchery we've ever seen. Next was the Anchorage Botanical Gardens. Lots in bloom already and it was lovely to walk through it. Last, but not least, was the estuary.  We took a hike around the grounds, searching for the elusive Sandhill Crane. We didn't see any, but we did see a moose. When Joan returned us to our hotel, she gave us a gift bag with smoked salmon and tea. Such a nice gesture. We had a great tour of parts of the city we may not have seen otherwise. Highly recommend!

Absolutely top notch service, tours, and tour guides! My favorite was the glacier walk! It was breath taking. Also take note the boat trip (sightseeing or fishing) is not for the faint of heart. Ruff waters may be waiting for so be prepared

Elgin courier-news | remembering our fallen puts human face on the soldiers who have died since 9/11: ‘i want to remember’.

Remembering Our Fallen is a photographic exhibit created by Patriotic Productions to remember more than 5,000 members of the military killed since 9/11. It will be on display at Elgin's Bluff City Cemetery through Memorial Day weekend. (Gloria Casas/The Courier-News)

The casual photos are poignant. A U.S. Air Force sergeant on her wedding day. A solider is holding his baby. A Marine as he looked as a child.

Each provides the name, age, title and hometown of the person depicted along with the day and location where they died.

The memorial is on display at Elgin’s Bluff City Cemetery throughout Memorial Day weekend. Its intent is to ensure those who died serving their country are never forgotten, organizers say.

Patriotic Productions, a nonprofit organization, created the traveling exhibit in 2010. Founders Bill and Evonne Williams, whose four sons served in the military, were moved to create it after reading a story about a father who believed his son, killed in military action, was forgotten before the war even ended, according to the organization’s website, patrioticproductions.org/rememberingourfallen .

It’s the organization’s belief, said Dave Luton, a national representative for Patriotic Productions, that the soldier only truly dies when he is forgotten. Luton travels with the exhibit as it moves around the country, a fitting “mission for an old Marine,” he says.

Elgin City Councilman Anthony Ortiz, responsible for helping bring the Remembering Our Fallen display to Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, points to a photo of (Gloria Casas/The Courier-News)

Veterans who come to see Remembering Our Fallen find it an emotional experience.

“It hurts, but it also helps,” Luton said. “They would see their buddy that morning and he was gone that afternoon, and they didn’t get closure,” which this exhibit offers.

Elgin City Councilman Anthony Ortiz asked the city’s Cultural Arts and Special Events Department to bring the memorial to Elgin . He was on hand Friday to volunteer, putting up the panels that feature 5,394 names and photos.

“It’s enlightening,” Ortiz said of what he’s learned from Luton about the backstories behind some of those photos. Beyond that, however, it’s important that residents see and appreciate the sacrifices members of the military make for this country, he said.

Ortiz found the name and photo of 21-year-old Marine Cpl. Alex Martinez, of Elgin, who died in 2012 during Operation Enduring Freedom. The U.S. Post Office in Elgin was renamed in his honor a few years ago.

A Marine veteran himself, Ortiz lost dozens of friends in the war and he hopes to find their photos and names this weekend.

Carlos DeJesus, of Elgin, served two tours in Iraq in 2004 with the U.S. Army, retiring in 2018. He volunteered to work at the memorial, which he found to be an emotional experience.

“I want to remember and not let their sacrifice be forgotten,” he said.

One section of the traveling Remembering Our Fallen photo exhibit set up at Elgin's Bluff City Cemetery is dedicated to those who took their own lives after serving in the military in the years after 9/11. (Gloria Casas/The Courier-News)

The Global War on Terror, started after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, now spans two decades and includes the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 7,000 people in the military have died in the decades that have passed.

The tally continues to go up as veterans from those conflicts struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), prompting some to take their own lives. There’s a section of the display dedicated just to them, Luton said.

“We have lost more veterans in the last 22 years to suicide than we lost in Vietnam in total,” he said.

A PLUS-sized travel influencer has revealed the changes airlines should make for curvier passengers to feel more comfortable.

Emily Jones, who often travels between Malta , the UK and Helsinki, said she wants to see the travel industry change to accommodate larger people.

Plus-size beauty Emily Jones has advised the travel industry to become more inclusive to accommodate larger people

The travel blogger said she wants airlines to make the process of boarding flights easier for passengers - and help those who require extra adjustments.

According to the traveller, it is the little adjustments and efforts that count toward making a passenger's journey more easy.

She told MailOnline : "It would be great if airlines could announce during boarding that if anyone needs a seatbelt extension, that they are available.

"From my experience and what people tell me in my messages online, asking for an extension is a big fear for plus-size people. I’d love to see this being de-stigmatised so people can travel comfortably and without the added anxiety."

Emily also advised hotel groups to offer larger towels and plus-sized bathrobes to make larger people feel more comfortable.

Speaking about the challenges that larger people face while travelling, Emily said that flight seats are "notoriously uncomfortable" for most of them.

While the travel influencer said visiting some countries as a plus-size model was "tricky" because of their "awkward stares", she revealed Seychelles in Africa was one of the most inclusive places she visited.

Emily says she records and posts her jet-setting life on her Instagram account miss__jones to encourage other plus-size people to travel the world.

The curvy influencer said she wants to promote easy travel for people of all sizes and shapes - and make them feel they "deserve to see the world" just like other people.

She added that she wants to see the travel media representing larger people to create a safe space for all curvy people.

It comes after a plus-size beauty queen with a travel bug gave her take on globe-trotting with curves.

She said one particular destination gave her a warm welcome, while another left her with a bad taste in her mouth.

Soraya Orelien, 31, spoke exclusively to The U.S. Sun about her trips around the world — to the tune of over 15 countries and counting.

She said that her hourglass figure was nothing new to her, and she was always on the voluptuous side.

"I've always had a curvy body, athletic body build," she said.

Orelien said that as an adolescent, she didn't feel like she stood out, but she decided to take her own path.

"Growing up, I was never considered a pretty girl or a cool girl or a popular girl. I was always just someone."

Things changed for Orelian when she decided to dive straight into influencing and even gave insight into travelling as a plus-size woman.

She said that one destination in particular did not give her a warm welcome.

"When I went to Japan a couple of months ago, it was a challenge being curvy because the seats are smaller," she said.
