And the exhibit’s companion compilation album won a Grammy in 2005. This twentieth-anniversary edition of Night Train revisits highlights from the exhibit’s debut, along with new artifacts and rare photos.

The exhibit includes sketches, drawings, lithographs, photographs, and a three-dimensional model of the painting, along with a 1975 video of Benton speaking about the mural.
Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth
Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth explores the influential career and enduring music of Patty Loveless. From staking out a distinctive place in country music beginning in the 1980s to her talent for finding memorable material and her embrace of traditional influences, this exhibit illustrates Loveless’s role in the genre through personal and career artifacts, photos, interviews, and more.
Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul
Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul , presented by Gibson, is now open. This new exhibit traces Church’s life and career—from his North Carolina roots and experience as a Nashville songwriter to his place as one of country music’s revered rule breakers.

Hall of Fame Members
Patsy cline.
One of the best-selling female country singers of the twentieth century, Patsy Cline achieved iconic status following her tragic death at age thirty in 1963. Cline was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973, and is frequently invoked as a standard for female vocalists, having inspired scores of singers including k. d. lang, Loretta Lynn, Linda Ronstadt, Trisha Yearwood, and Wynonna Judd.
DeFord Bailey
DeFord Bailey was an influential harmonica player in both country music and blues, one of the Grand Ole Opry’s most popular early performers, and country’s first African-American star.
Brooks & Dunn
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn—performing together as Brooks & Dunn—charged onto the country music scene in 1991. They went on to become the best-selling country duo of all time, with forty-one Top Ten hits (including twenty #1s) and two decades of packing concert arenas. They collected a mountain of music-industry honors, including two Grammys, nineteen CMA awards, and twenty-five ACM awards.
Reba McEntire
Reba McEntire ranks as the most successful female country performer of her generation, and she has been cited as a role model by nearly every successful woman to follow in her wake. She has achieved more than fifty Top Ten singles and more #1 country albums than any other female artist. McEntire has won CMA Female Vocalist of the Year four times and was CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1986. She also has won three Grammy Awards, and in 2018 received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors for her lifetime of contributions to American culture.
Hank Williams
Hank Williams’s legend has long overtaken the rather frail and painfully introverted man who spawned it. Almost singlehandedly, Williams set the agenda for contemporary country songcraft, but his appeal rests as much in the myth that even now surrounds his short life.

Your Country Music Holiday in the USA – The Ultimate Guide
Discovering America through a country music holiday will give you an experience of the states that’s both unique and insightful, as well as being somewhat celebratory. After the Second World War, country music developed greatly in Nashville , Tennessee to the point where the city has become the capital of country music, thanks to Johnny Cash.
Today, many artists make the trip to perform here in the open-mic nights or in some 250 recording studios in the city. Memphis on the other hand, with the King, Elvis Presley, has a blues and rock vibe, but we should never forget that Elvis was also a country singer at first and some of his country hits are right from Memphis.
Below is all you need to know about country music holidays in Nashville and Memphis, with a look at the sights and the sounds of both cities – as well as a few non-musical attractions to check out whilst you’re there. So persuade that non-music loving travel buddy to spend some time with you celebrating country music in the USA.
Nashville Holidays
It’s always a pleasure to explore the symbolic city of country music. Nashville holidays impress visitors annually with the many attractions on offer including the famous Music Row neighbourhood. It represents the heart and soul of the music industry across the country.
Apart from all the museums, the shops and the monuments, all related to the same form of music, visitors will also have the opportunity to visit places like The Country Music Museum & Hall of Fame, and inspiring Johnny Cash Museum.
There is only one rule here; music. Nashville hosts hundreds of concerts day and night and proudly maintains its musical heritage. A role model of a city for musicians all around the world, it acts as a magnet and has seen its population explode for the last half-dozen years. In fact, housing and public amenities are flourishing everywhere.
Music is a permanent activity here that only strengthens the energy of the city and has a lot to offer visitors.
Things to do in Nashville
The advantage of Nashville is that you can easily walk around the city centre, where most of the attractions are concentrated. Around Broadway Avenue, between the railway line and the Cumberland River, the musical heart of the city is revealed with people walking around, carrying guitars on their backs, in search of a bar to show off their talent.
With more than 300 concerts per day, it is not uncommon to experience the day fly by at full speed if you take the time to listen to as many of the artists as you can.
1. Country Music Museum & Hall of Fame
But to get a taste of Nashville’s musical history, start your stroll south of 5th Avenue, home to the Country Music Museum and Hall of Fame. Behind these walls, the whole story of this kind. Gold and platinum discs adorn the walls, and fans will even discover the Elvis Presley Cadillac or Kenny Rogers hat collection.
This wonderful museum, located in a magnificent building in the heart of the city, is intended to solemnize the great music with exhibitions of artefacts and instruments.
Once on site, the first thing that captivates visitors is the height of the windows adorning the sides of the building. In the shape of piano keys, they set the tone for the theme of the rest of the attraction.
The Country Music Hall of Fame Museum presents a multimedia display of historical performances, instruments, costumes, and memories of the greats of the genre. Other remarkable exhibitions here include a 40-foot guitar to go along with the giant piano-key windows!
2. Country Music Walk of Fame
In front of the museum, the Walk of Fame pays homage to the biggest American music stars. One of the most famous, Johnny Cash, has a separate museum dedicated to him just two minutes away on 3rd Avenue.
3. RCA Studio B
Another important sight to see is the historic RCA Studio B, revealing the history of recordings of the famous RCA label and the flair of the producer Chet Atkins. It was in this studio that Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, the Everly Brothers, Jim Reeves and Charley Pride recorded many of their songs.
4. Ryman Auditorium
Nashville’s reputation has been partly built through concerts at the Ryman Auditorium. Built in 1892 and endowed with a unique acoustics, the auditorium, nicknamed ‘Mother Church of Country Music’, hosts country concerts every Saturday evening since 1943, including Roy Acuff, nicknamed ‘The King of Country Music’ or Bill Monroe.
It is possible to have lunch next door, at the 5th & Taylor (1411 5th Avenue North) to enjoy regional specialties, before continuing your discovery of the city.
5. Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry is America’s most famous county music show, with each performance broadcast live on WSM radio. Performances were originally held at the Ryman Auditorium, until the show moved to its own purpose built venue, the Grand Ole Opry House in 1974. New acts and old favourites combine meaning no show is ever the same.
Tennessee Food
Between two interesting museums or fun country concerts, the food trucks of Nashville are among the best in the country. Dixie Belle’s, King Tut’s, Confeastador or Smoke & Al will not let you down. It is understandable that many have the mistaken belief that Nashville is reserved for country music fans.
In reality, it’s a town with something for everyone. Eat one of the world’s largest burgers, drink copious amounts of ice tea and experience one of the legendary truisms about the American South: the hospitality of friendly people.
Other Sights & Activities
Although it deserves its nickname the ‘Music City’, there are really a thousand things to do for all tastes and wallets in Nashville, and if you’re planning to travel with a non-country music fan this next section might be a useful one.
Here are five things to do that are not related to country music here. So, can leave your cowboy boots at the entrance and try these five sights.
- Although music takes up a lot of space in Nashville, the city also cultivates its history. The Tennessee State Capitol District, with the elegant Victory Park and the Nashville Public Library, is the true business centre of the city. Try a city walk from the Capitol to Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge. There are several tours to choose from here too: from the history of the city to the music and the state.
- A walk on the banks of the Mississippi can help anyone regather their emotions and discover the Riverboats of the city, the famous steam powered wheel boats which stop over in the area on Saturdays. The American Queen Steamboat Company still has its seat here, offering trips to local passengers from time to time.
- Another step back in time is the next one on the list, and this time it’s the Victorian Village Historic District on the agenda. Here, visitors can relive the founding years of the city of Memphis, before the music makes it one of its favourite playgrounds.
- GooGoo! This wonderful candy, created in 1912, has become something of an emblem of Nashville and is a delight of pure chocolate, peanuts, and nougat. The employees at the local factory are friendly, they have fun at work and an engaging way to present their gourmet products to visitor, a tour here is definitely worth time out of the music exploration.
- And for many who are taking a trip to America, catching one of the local sports teams is a cultural experience not to be missed – whatever your reason for visiting the area. The professional ice hockey team, the Nashville Predators, plays in the Bridgestone Arena, which adjoins the Tennessee Sports History Museum. For fans of American football, just cross the Shelby Bridge spanning the Cumberland River to reach the LP Field, home to the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
Great tip: The Millennium Maxwell House in Nashville is a great hotel for a stay right in the centre of the sites, ideal for your visit in this music city.

Memphis holidays.
Like Nashville, Memphis is an urban area with many attractive facets that aren’t necessarily associated with the town’s musical public image. Tourists and travellers love it because they will always find something for them here, but music lovers will see it as an especially attractive place.
Memphis is above all a place of rich exploration for those wishing to visit the cradle of blues, soul and rock. Do not miss its many museums, parks and hotels as well as its huge churches and art galleries. This is a town with so many attractions to offer that it’s almost hard to factor in a single minute of respite.
It is also a city with two faces. Sedate and relaxing in the daytime, the town really reveals itself at night when the first guitar notes begin to come out of Beale Street’s bars and restaurants. But it also has a strong history, marked by the American Civil Rights movement.
That makes it a place where music and culture are at every step, and where better to start that journey than with Tennessee’s greatest son – the King himself.
Although deemed the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley also reigned in the world of country music. He fused country with rhythm and blues to create many of his masterpieces, such as “That’s All Right” and “Blue Suede Shoes.”
His distinctive style of music led to his popularity and eventually to his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Today, fans can tour Presley’s mansion and 14-acre estate. Graceland, as it is called, exhibits his life with his personal videos, his personal memorabilia and some of his performance costumes.
Although visitors must venture outside of the city to visit the site, the home of the star has become a place of pilgrimage for fans and tourists to the area alike. The kitsch interior design is definitely quirky, but it captures the spirit of the King.
For those who don’t want to have to make the trek from Memphis to see Graceland in all its glory, the Graceland Guest House is located just four minutes’ walk from the gates to the site and provides an experience in itself with two restaurants, a cocktail bar and its own in-house theatre for live performances and films.
Downtown Memphis
The city centre of Memphis is not very extensive and as such any tour of the main attractions can easily be done on foot. To walk in the footsteps of Elvis Presley or B.B. King, a stroll down South Main Street should be the first activity – this leads to the Blues Hall of Fame, to find the faces and music of those who shaped this style. Music lovers in general, and Blues in particular, will definitely find happiness here.
Memphis city offers its musical culture through many dedicated museums and in January there is the International Blues Challenge with 250 bands from around the world competing against each other. Do not miss famous Beale Street, which brings together a vast array of music clubs.
If you have the opportunity, every year, the city vibrates to the rhythm of a great festival of street music. Over 300 metres of road, bars and restaurants pile up one after the other and compete against each other nightly by offering the best blues groups in the country.
Away from music, however, this is also a city of culture and historical significance. It is the cradle of many museums and cultural hotspots. The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and the National Civil Rights Museum offer exhibitions and windows into history.
While the Peabody Place Museum and the Art Museum at the University of Memphis are delights with regional art collections on public view.
It was in Memphis, in 1968, that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. And another museum in town traces the struggle of the oppressed, starting with the civil rights movement.
Built in the extension of the Lorraine Hotel, meanwhile, on the balcony upon which MLK lost his life, the MLK Museum offers visitors a perspective on African American history.
The cultural heritage of Memphis is considerable, too, and Memphis in May is the most-anticipated cultural event of all in this city. Offering various instructive attractions for both children and adults, a trip timed to coincide with the festival is a smart move.
Other highlights include the Beale Street Music Festival, the World BBQ Cooking Championship and the Saint Jude Golf Tournament to name a few, while the Orpheum Theatre on Main Street welcomes some of the biggest musical acts in the world – not just the country stars.
Also in the city centre – near Beale Street – is the FedEx Arena. Home to the NBA basketball team, the Memphis Grizzlies, the only professional team in the city and the pride and joy of Memphis’ inhabitants. This ensures that the atmosphere at matches is always lively.
You can easily combine Memphis and Nashville country music holidays with other great American music locations, like New Orleans .
With so much unique charm in the South, discover more with a Southern USA guided tour or a self drive itinerary that will help you celebrate your love for country music.
Whether you’re a keen country music fan, a museum lover, or just a party person, both Nashville and Memphis are amazing cities to discover with a variety of Nashville hotels on offer.
With busy days and lively evenings on the cards, there’s something for everyone in these two towns, but for music lovers this is simply a paradise packaged up with a good dollop of southern charm.

Country music is just “three chords and the truth,” according to songwriter Harlan Howard. While music has become more complex in the decades since his claim, today’s hits still provide a snapshot of real life. Perhaps that’s why country music has remained popular for generations: lyrics mirror local culture and help us connect with the artist.

1. Nashville, Tennessee
Music City has always been the epicenter of country music, but there’s more to it than the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame. Branch out from downtown to find live music with a laid-back vibe. In East Nashville, the American Legion Post 82 has a small stage offering a giant dose of nostalgia. Visit on Tuesdays to dance with the locals while listening to old-school country.

The Crooked Road in southwest Virginia takes country music lovers to notable historic Appalachian music sites and venues sharing fresh takes on today’s music. Stopping at all 60 venues along the 330-mile heritage trail takes weeks, but you can hit the highlights in a weekend. Find live performances at sites like the Floyd Country Store, known for traditional music and dancing at its Friday Night Jamboree, or join an acoustic show at the Carter Family Fold (re-opening in June 2021).
Straddling the border of Virginia and Tennessee, the city of Bristol is a must-visit stop on your Crooked Road journey. Permanent exhibits at The Birthplace of Country Music Museum share how the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings shaped country music. Interactive experiences allow visitors to rework classics by the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers at mixing stations or sing along to their favorite tunes.

3. Austin, Texas
While it’s the live music capital of the world year-round, Austin takes it up a notch during its many festivals. Pay tribute to a legend at the Willie Nelson Luck Reunion or support current artists at the iHeartCountry Festival and Rodeo Austin. The infamous SXSW Music Festival also features new country music artists for numerous performances.
4. Cheyenne, Wyoming
Focus on the western influence on country-western music by heading to Cheyenne Frontier Days, held each summer. This 10-day festival in late July hosts big-name performers: this year’s lineup includes Eric Church, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris. If you can’t score tickets to the evening shows, you’ll still find daytime performances from smaller artists around the festival grounds, all included with general admission.
The rest of the year, performers come and go but the western influence is constant. Come see what made Cheyenne a popular subject for country lyrics: you’ll hear it mentioned in favorites like George Strait’s “I Can Still Make Cheyenne” and Garth Brooks’ “The Beaches of Cheyenne.”
5. Branson, Missouri

Choose from tributes to classic artists like Patsy Cline or head to a show featuring today’s greatest hits — or don’t choose at all. Branson makes it easy to squeeze a little of everything into a weekend.

Road Trip Itinerary
All of our American road trips can be tailored to meet your requirements. Do you have more or less than 14 days for your road trip? No problem, we can bolt on extra nights to allow more time to explore or shorten the number of destinations as required.
Start your American Music Tour in Chicago
After touching down at Chicago O’Hare, you’ll jump in a cab and head downtown towards one of the world’s best skylines. After settling into your hotel, which we carefully selected for you, you’ll have three nights and two full days to get to grips with this incredible city on Lake Michigan’s shoreline. If you wish to stay longer and explore more of Chicago, just let us know when you request your quote.
Chicago, IL
Discover the Windy City's must see places
Most visitors to Chicago head straight to the ‘Magnificent Mile’, a vibrant street home to upscale shops, trendy restaurants and posh hotels. Landmarks include the historic Chicago Water Tower, the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower and the 100-story Hancock Center, which has a rooftop observation deck called 360 Chicago. Spend the rest of the day exploring some of the other attractions found north of the Chicago River. These include Navy Pier, Wrigley Field and the beaches along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
A third day to explore Chicago
On your final full day in Chicago, we recommend that you spend time visiting the city’s attractions that are located south of the Chicago River. Many of America’s best museums are found here, including the Art Institute, the Alder Planetarium, and the Field Museum of Natural History. Be sure to stroll around Millennium Park; you’ll find world-famous outdoor artwork like Cloud Gate and Crown Fountain for those all-important social media snaps. Lastly, before leaving town, make sure you spend at least one evening partying at Buddy Guy’s Legends Nightclub.
Visit Indianapolis, en route to lovely Louisville
On your way to Louisville, you’ll pass by Indianapolis. Motorsport fans should check out Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the iconic Indy500 and more. Next, you’ll cruise south to Louisville, which you may know due to its rich horse racing pedigree; after all, it’s home to the legendary Kentucky Derby. Or, maybe you’ve drunk a drop or two of bourbon with Louisville written on the label? Additionally, Louisville is famous for Folk music, baseball and amazing fried chicken.
Louisville, KY
A full day to discover Louisville's highlights
Today’s options include a visit to the beautiful Churchill Downs Racetrack, educating yourself on the life and times of arguably the greatest sportsmen of the 20th Century at the Muhammad Ali Center or perhaps just spend the day sampling the products of numerous bourbon distilleries found in the city or along the Bourbon Trail.
Drive down to Music City - Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville is the proud home of Country Music, and this booming city boasts about its musical heritage at every opportunity. Home to the Country Music Hall of Fame and the legendary RCA Studio B, where Elvis, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson all recorded hits. It’s not all about country music mind, the region has a rich blues history too, with singers and songwriters from every genre calling ‘Music City’ home.
Nashville, TN
A second day to enjoy Nashville's sights and sounds
Head to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (colloquially known in Nashville as simply the ‘Pedestrian Bridge’), which spans the Cumberland River. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better view of the Nashville skyline anywhere. After the sun sets and for the complete traveller experience, head down to Broadway and stop by a honky-tonk or two for a one-of-a-kind night of drinking and live music.
Drive the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway to Tupelo
Today, you’ll leave the home of Country Music and go in search of the spiritual homes of the Blues, Soul and Rock’n’Roll. To get you to Memphis you’ll follow the first half of the delightful Natchez Trace Parkway, which was originally an old Indian trading route. Today, this scenic Parkway is used as a serene way to cruise by Muscle Shoals, where artists like The Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin recorded hits before moving onto Tupelo, where Elvis was born and raised.
A short drive from Tupelo to Memphis
Today is all about the King, Elvis Presley. Start the day off by visiting the tiny house Elvis was born in and the neighbouring church where he sang as a child. You’ll then leave Tupelo and move on to Memphis, along the way, you’ll pass Graceland, the final resting place of Elvis. Second only to The White House, Elvis Presley’s Graceland is arguably the most iconic home in America and a must-see for anyone visiting Memphis. Finally, after settling into your Memphis hotel, we highly recommend you hit Beale Street for live music, soul food and dancing.
Memphis, TN
Another day to experience Memphis's sights
Memphis has plenty more to offer, including the legendary Sun Studios and the moving National Civil Rights Museum. In our humble opinion, Memphis is the Barbecue Capital of America, so make sure you try a rib joint or two if you can. As always, your personalised Road Trip Pack will show you the full range of things to see and do in the city, and you can do as much or as little as you please.
Discover The Blues in the Mississippi Delta
Today, you’ll drive south through the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta, exploring small towns like Clarksdale, Indianola and Cleveland as you go. These towns were the birthplace of The Blues and thus Rock ‘n’ Roll as we know it today. By the time you reach the plantation houses of Natchez, your understanding of 20th Century music will be transformed. End the day by taking in a tour of one of the many antebellum plantation houses found in Natchez, followed by drinks at the Under the Hill Saloon.
Natchez, MS
Cruise down the Great River Road to New Orleans
Continue south along the Great River Road to your final destination – New Orleans. Along the way, we highly recommend you stop by the historic Oak Alley Plantation for a quick tour of the house and grounds. If you only do one plantation home, then this is the one in our opinion. Once you arrive in “The Big Easy”, the French Quarter will be waiting to offer you dinner, drinks, and all that Jazz.
New Orleans, LA
The French Quarter, Garden Quarter and more
Built on the mouth of the Mississippi, New Orleans is the home of the jazz, voodoo and the craziness that is Mardi Gras. The French Quarter offers so much charm; it’s a great place to take a walking tour, whilst sampling great food and live music as you stroll.
End your American Music Tour in The Big Easy!
This will be your final full day of your American Music Tour. Use it to discover more of New Orleans’s must-see attractions and to sample the nightlife. The following day, you’ll leave for the airport to fly home. Whether you call it NOLA, The Big Easy or just plain old New Orleans, we’re confident this vibrant city will stay with you for many years.

The 50 Best Country Music Venues in America
This makes country music, and the venues that cater to country music very popular—not only popular, but plentiful. In other words, there are a lot of country music venues in America.
That made selecting 50 a bit of a challenge. There are very good music venues that didn’t make our list, venues that are quite similar to the places you’ll soon learn about.
In narrowing out list to the 50 best country music venues in America, we took inspiration from another aspect of the genre and that’s its focus on home and family. Other types of popular music aren’t anywhere near as family-oriented as country music.
Therefore, the 50 country music venues that made our list are all places where you can go and feel at home. The following establishments are not only prominent members of their own community but they make everyone who steps through their doors feel welcomed too.
11th Street Cowboy Bar
Bandera, TX
The 11th Street Cowboy Bar is famously known as the “Biggest Little Bar in Texas.” Don’t be embarrassed when you visit this establishment—located in Bandera, Texas, about an hour’s drive from San Antonio—and find bras hanging from the ceiling. If you’re vacationing in Texas, the Cowboy Bar should be on your itinerary. It hosts premier country bands as well as some of the biggest events in the Lone Star State.
Adair's Saloon
Adair’s Saloon was once visited by The King, Elvis Presley. More recently, they’ve welcomed visits from the Dixie Chicks and Jake Ingram. Come to Adair’s Saloon to enjoy great country music, but stay for what many call the best burger in Texas—now that’s high praise. While you’re there, peruse their “art collection.” Over the years, patrons have drawn on nearly every available inch of the interior.
Austin City Saloon
Lexington, KY
Austin City Saloon has been a fixture in Lexington, Kentucky for more than 33 years. They offer patrons live music by tapping the best and brightest burgeoning country bands. Interestingly, on their website, Austin City encourages visitors to bring their own food. General managers Josh Brock and Austin Brashear have done a great job in making the Austin City Saloon fun, inviting, and truly country.
Billy Bob's Texas
Boyd’s Jig and Reel
Brickette Lounge
Philadelphia, PA
Bushwhackers Dance Hall & Saloon
Rock, pop, and hip hop venues don’t teach their patrons how to do dance, but country music venues sure do. At Bushwhackers Dance Hall & Saloon, free dance lessons are held at 7:30pm every Tuesday through Saturday. Ladies Night is Thursday and local bands perform on Friday. Come during the summer and enjoy their awesome patio space.

The 30 Best Country Music Festivals in the U.S.A.
Looking for biggest and BEST Country Music Festivals 2024? Well, you’ve come to the right place, as I’ve just updated this incredible list of Country Festivals in the USA that all deserve a spot on your bucket list!
“Only in country music can you compare an old pickup truck and an old guitar to your wife and turn it into a love song…thank God for country music.” – Dierks Bentley
Johnny Cash. Dolly Parton. Willie Nelson. Faith Hill. Tim McGraw. Keith Urban. Miranda Lambert. American country music has spanned the decades without any sign of slowing down, with new and exciting acts popping up across America all the time.
The American country music festival scene has always been synonymous with the south, but the best country music festivals are spread far and wide across our great country.
My list of the 30 best U.S.A country music festivals are as diverse as they are entertaining. From the valleys of California to the mountains of Montana, the plains of Texas to the beaches of Florida – make sure you tick at least one of these off your country festival bucket list.
1) Stagecoach Festival 2024
When : April 26-28, 2024
Where : Empire Polo Club, Indio, California
https://www.stagecoachfestival.com
“The five-day transformation from the massive Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival into Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival by the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice company is always shocking to people who go to both events.
Instead of surreal and sometimes psychedelic installation art of Coachella, there are giant cowboy boots and a bronze bucking horse. The attire morphs from flower crowns and H&M branded fashions to red, white and blue everything – including shirts, pants, bandannas and long flowing sashes bearing the U.S. flag. Held at Indio’s Empire Polo Club, this festival celebrates new and established country-music artists.”

Where : Cullman, Alabama
https://rockthesouth.com
https://www.facebook.com/RockTheSouth/
“April 27, 2011 was a day nobody in this area will ever forget. Tornadoes ripped across our great state and took precious lives and ripped apart everything familiar. Since then, our area has grown together and brought out the best in all of us. Originally intended to be a one-year celebration of recovery from that horrific day, Rock the South has continued to expand to become a massive celebration of this area and what it has to offer. Since the first event in 2012, Rock the South has given over $500,000 to multiple community partners including Cullman City Parks and Recreation, The Link of Cullman County, Cullman Caring for Kids and many more. Every major country music star from Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, Florida-Georgia Line, Alan Jackson and Thomas Rhett have graced the Rock the South stage. Even though Billboard rates Rock the South as the 6th Best Country Music Festival in the United States, Rock the South will always be a festival about two things, giving back to the community we love and celebrating the Southern Culture we all know and love.”

9) Taste of Country Music Festival 2024
When : June, 2024
Where : Hunter Mountain, New York
https://tasteofcountry.com/country-music-festivals-guide/
“Summer and music festivals go hand in hand. So, too, do summer and country music. The genre’s feel-good vibes and frequent tendency to talk about “kickin’ back by [a body of water] with a cold beer” make even the biggest country music critics likely to still blast it on a hot summer day. With the match made in heaven, it’s no wonder country music festivals abound across the country, all season long. New York state’s biggest one, Taste of Country Music Festival, is held at Hunter Mountain a couple of hours north of Manhattan, the festival, nicknamed TOCFest, is a four-day camping-based party featuring, of course, music, along with an array of food trucks; merchandise and country-themed vendors selling anything from elaborate leather belt buckles to jewelry to cowboy hats, you name it; and so many other things to check out.”
10) Tailgate Fest
When : 2024 TBC
Where : Norco, California
https://latailgatefest.com
“Tailgate Fest is the first country music festival that caters to the fans who show up hours before the concert to pop a top, drop a tailgate and turn the parking lot…or in our case, hundreds of acres of lush green grass… into the party. Stay where you are…we are bringing your music to you. Tailgate Fest brings the stages outside to the tailgate. No packing up the party to head inside, no need to stop that game of cornhole, no need to stuff all your belongings in your pockets or grab sweaters and extras to last you the evening. Tailgating can continue throughout the whole festival as fans can watch their favorite performers from their personal party set ups at their vehicles.”
11) Windy City Smokeout 2024
When : July 11-14, 2024
Where : Chicago, Illinois
https://www.windycitysmokeout.com
“The Windy City Smokeout combines country music, barbecue, and top beer — it’s hard to think of a better way to spend a summer weekend in Chicago. This year, the fest has moved to an expanded space in the shadow of the legendary United Center. Along with today’s hottest country acts, the lineup also includes some of the “world’s best BBQ pitmasters. Twenty barbecue pros from all over the country will be serving up ribs, brisket, and more, highlighting styles from Kentucky, Nashville, Missouri, and good-ol’ Chicago. Guests will head to the United Center parking lot for a weekend-long event where attendees can taste delicious offerings from some of the best BBQ talent and craft breweries from around the country. Hosted by Chicago’s BBQ destination, Bub City, and ACM award-winning Joe’s on Weed St., the Windy City Smokeout will be bringing an impressive lineup of country music stars and up-and-coming talent to the stage!”
12) Carolina Country Music Fest 2024
Where : Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
https://carolinacountrymusicfest.com
“If you love music, we can all agree that festivals are the place to be during summer. Still, one Southern music marathon hasn’t received nearly the same attention as others, even though it promises the same palpable sense of excitement and a boot-scootin’ good time. And that underrated gem isn’t in the desert or on a farm. No, the Carolina Country Music Fest is held right on the shores of the Grand Strand’s Myrtle Beach. In 2015, we saw this brand new festival make its mark in the South, hosting more than 30 country music acts. And this year 20,000-plus fans will descend on The Emerald City, for the annual, four-day event, which brings all-star musicians to the coastal city for a weekend filled with 24/7 live entertainment and booze.”

Your Tour at a Glance
Tour Activity Level
The activity level for this tour:
You’re a leisurely traveler. You typically take it easy and discover the energy of a new place by people-watching or soaking in the atmosphere at a local café. You can climb at least one flight of stairs, board a coach, and walk unassisted at a relaxed pace for up to 60 minutes without difficulty. You can easily handle altitudes up to 5,000 feet.
You like a balanced approach to travel. Walking two to three miles over the course of a day is no problem for you. You can partake in a two-hour leisurely walking tour, covering up to two miles (with included breaks). You can handle a variety of terrains, from cobblestone streets to moderate hills with relative ease and without assistance. You can climb two flights of stairs with ease. There may be 1 to 2 days on this tour when walking tours can cover 3 to 4 miles over uneven terrain. You can handle altitudes up to 6,000 feet.
You’re an on-the-go traveler. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn’t a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travelers who require mobility assistance devices.
You’re ready to seize the day, whatever it may bring. You lead an active life at home (walking, biking, and half or full day hikes are things you may enjoy) and 10,000 steps a day is normal for you. You can handle longer walking tours (more than 3 hours covering 3+ miles at a steady clip) and activities that involve traversing uneven terrain, steep slopes, standing for periods of time, and varying altitudes and temperatures. You don’t mind being on the go with some early starts, late-nights, and full days. You can handle altitudes of 9,000 feet or higher with little to no issue. This level is not appropriate for travelers who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility assistance devices.

Billy Strings won’t have many days off this year.
In addition to his summer tour and festival headlining gigs, the beloved bluegrass musician just added 16 concerts to his 2024 tour schedule and announced his live album ‘Billy Strings – Live Vol. 1’ will hit shelves on July 12.
And while he doesn’t have any New York or New Jersey gigs lined up, he will get close when he performs back-to-back nights at Bridgeport, CT’s Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater on July 26-27, Worcester, MA’s DCU Center July 30-31 and Baltimore, MD’s CFG Bank Arena on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 .
As of now, tickets are available for all concerts and festival dates on Strings’ itinerary.
Some are quite cheap, too.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $55 before fees on Vivid Seats.
All other shows have tickets starting anywhere from $56 to $563 before fees.
Want to see the artist that made WTF podcast host Marc Maron say “his fingers and mind and heart are all synced together in a very rare way”?
You’re in the right place, Strings fans.
We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Billy Strings’ 2024 tour below.
Prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.
Billy Strings 2024 festival appearances
As you may have noticed above, Strings has a handful of spots at major festivals lined up this summer.
For a closer look at the who, what, where and when, here are all the essential details you need to know about each Billy Strings fest:
Outlaw Music Festival
For just one show, Strings will join elder statesmen 91-year-old Willie Nelson and 83-year-old Bob Dylan on their ‘Outlaw Music Festival.’
That show takes place Aug. 10 at George, WA’s Gorge Amphitheater . The aforementioned trio — Nelson, Dylan and Strings, that is — will be joined by John Mellencamp and Brittney Spencer.
You can grab tickets for the star-studded affair here .
Billy Strings set list
Like many other adventurous artists, Strings does not stick to a script on the road.
Each show is a bit different than the last.
Still, for a closer look at a sampling of what you might get, here’s what Strings played at an April 2023 gig in Mobile, AL, courtesy of Set List FM .

10 concert tours to see this summer
Hang out in the sunshine with a variety of live shows
- Newsletter sign up Newsletter
After months of iffy weather across much of the globe, summer is nearly here in North America. And, lucky for its residents, many standout artists are looking to take advantage of the sunshine with some live tours.
Alanis Morissette
One of Canada's most well-known musical exports is hitting the road again. Alanis Morissette will navigate venues across the United States during her "Triple Moon Tour," which will feature 33 dates running from June to August. Morissette will not go it alone, though, as she will be accompanied on stage by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts alongside singer Morgan Wade. Morissette released her tenth LP in 2022, but the "Triple Moon Tour" will mostly be in tribute to the 25th anniversary of her fourth studio album, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," which was released to critical acclaim in 1998.
While "Family Guy" may have once described him as "just some guy with a hat," singer Jason Mraz is the recipient of two Grammy Awards and remains one of the most popular guitarists and singers of the last decade. Beginning in June, Mraz will venture on his "Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride Summer 2024," with shows in more than 25 locations in the United States and Canada through August. The artist behind the hit single "I'm Yours" named his upcoming tour after his 2023 LP of the same name, his eighth studio album overall and his first in three years.

Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire
Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire , two of the most popular bands of the 1970s, are combining for a mega-concert journey, the "Heart & Soul Tour," from July to September. Each leg of the tour will feature the "timeless music of Chicago and the iconic catalog of Earth, Wind & Fire," according to the band's website , and will "culminate in an encore performance with both bands on stage together." This timeless music will likely feature hits from both groups, including iconic soul soundtracks like "September" and "Shining Star" from Earth Wind & Fire, and rock ballads like "You're the Inspiration" from Chicago. Combined, both groups have won 11 Grammy Awards and sold more than 200 million albums.
Melissa Etheridge/Jewel
Singer Melissa Etheridge has won dozens of accolades and played thousands of venues over her decades-long career, and now she is getting ready to head back on the road. She is teaming with singer Jewel to launch the duo's summer 2024 tour . The tour covers the majority of the summer and runs from July to the beginning of October, with locations throughout the United States and Canada. Etheridge, perhaps best known for her 1993 single "Come to My Window," last released a studio album in 2021, but does not appear anywhere near the end of her journey.
Mannequin Pussy
Philly's punk rock icons are returning to the stage with a new tour. Mannequin Pussy will be embarking on their "I Got Heaven Tour" throughout July and August; the group will begin with shows in the U.K. and Europe before heading home to the United States and Canada, where they will play a series of shows before crisscrossing back to Europe again. Mannequin Pussy's music is "built on big emotions and inside jokes," said The New York Times , and the group is touring to promote their most recent studio album and fourth LP, "I Got Heaven," which was released earlier this year.
Foo Fighters
Dave Grohl and his band the Foo Fighters will be traveling down a sonic highway when they embark on their "Everything or Nothing at All Tour" in July and August. The tour comes a year after the group released their 11th LP, "But Here We Are," dedicated to both Grohl's mother Virginia and deceased band member Taylor Hawkins . The Foo Fighters will be playing shows in Manchester, Glasgow, London and other cities in the United Kingdom before playing a series of concerts in the United States. Once in America, the group, which was born out of the iconic 1990s grunge band Nirvana, will play 14 shows in 11 different cities.
Undoubtedly one of the most unique bands on this list, the psychedelic rock group Phish has formed one of the most loyal followings in music over a 40-year career (Drew Carey "talked to God" after seeing them, the television host said on X ). Now, Phish will grace the stage again with their summer 2024 tour in the United States, which will run from July to the beginning of September and will coincide with the release of their 16th LP, "Evolve," set to drop on July 12. This will mark the group's first official studio album in four years, though they did release a 2022 album under a different name.
Green Day released their 14th studio album, "Saviors," earlier this year, and they are not wasting any time promoting it. The punk rock icons are venturing on a concert tour of the same name from July 19 to Sept. 28. The band will play their popular LPs "Dookie" and "American Idiot" in their entirety, and it is very much a global endeavor: Green Day will play venues in Spain, France, Germany, the U.K., Austria and more before crossing the pond to play shows across the United States and Canada. The band is keeping busy now, as they recently headlined a UN-backed climate concert in San Francisco.
Kings of Leon
Many of the biggest names touring this summer are rock bands, and Kings of Leon are no exception. The Nashville-based group will head out on a summer 2024 tour from August to mid-October, beginning in European destinations such as the U.K., Austria, Ireland and France before playing 27 cities in the United States and Canada. The tour will be supporting Kings of Leon's ninth studio album, "Can We Please Have Fun," which was released this past February. Notably, this is the band's first album to not be released via their original recording label, RCA.
You can usher in the end of the summer on a high note by seeing one of the most notable R&B singers of all time, as Usher is embarking on his "Past Present Future" tour beginning at the end of August. The singer is riding high after a notable performance in February at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, the city where Usher also held multiple residencies totaling 100 shows. Usher will tour cities throughout the United States on his concert venture and is planning on touring Europe throughout 2025. His ninth LP, "Coming Home," was released to coincide with his Super Bowl performance.

This is the first Relentless Beats event at Rawhide since 2021. The venue is on the Gila River Indian Community just south of Phoenix.
