Travel to the Turks and Caicos Islands to see some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the Caribbean, including Grace Bay. Home to one of the largest barrier reef systems in the world, this collection of coral islands also offers unforgettable experiences for snorkelers and scuba divers. Whether you choose to spend the bulk of your time on land or underwater, these islands make a wonderful retreat for those seeking maximum comfort in a tropical setting. However, hotel prices can be higher here than in other Caribbean locales, especially during the peak winter season.

Visit St. Lucia for its sprawling chalk-colored beaches, towering volcanic peaks and upscale resorts. You can start your day with a hiking adventure through the Pitons, soak up some midday sun along Reduit Beach and watch the sun set over the Caribbean Sea. You'll want to also save time for a visit to Sulphur Springs, the world's only drive-in volcano. "Posh" is the best word to describe the British Virgin Islands. The island country's beautiful coast sets it apart from other Caribbean destinations. The shoreline at Cane Garden Bay and the white sand beaches on Anegada island are stunning. Meanwhile, the boulders and sea pools at The Baths National Park (touted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world) mystify visitors. Spring is the time to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands, particularly in late April when the boisterous Carnival season on St. Thomas gets underway. Regardless of when you visit, try to spend at least a day enjoying the unspoiled beauty at one of the many beaches along St. John's shoreline, including the popular Trunk Bay beach. Or, visit a fort on St. Croix for a bit of Danish colonial history during your vacation. The best part? Americans don't need a passport to visit these Caribbean islands.

Comprising 32 islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has something to offer every traveler. Enjoy time on the biggest island of St. Vincent in its capital, Kingstown, a port city where you'll find a lush botanical garden and fresh fish and produce markets. Then, hop on a boat and sail between the country's other islands for diving, snorkeling, golfing, sunbathing and photo-ops. No matter how you choose to pass the time, a trip to this destination will be one for the books.

One of the most scenic spots in the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands is home to premier dive sites, including Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto, as well as plenty of picturesque shorelines such as the world-renowned Seven Mile Beach. For travelers who want to stick to the shallows, Stingray City offers clear water, a sandbar and opportunities to swim with stingrays. Hotel and flight prices tend to be on the lower end during the summer months, so you can enjoy the palm-fringed white sand beaches and serene sea without ruining your vacation budget.

While you'll certainly find the standard Caribbean staples – picture-perfect sandy beaches, verdant golf courses and palatial resorts – you'll also discover that Barbados offers a unique roster of non-beach things to do. Travel here to sample Mount Gay Rum, explore the limestone caverns of Harrison's Cave and the Animal Flower Cave, attend a horse race at Garrison Savannah and dance to calypso tunes. Don't forget to save time for exploring the island's historical plantation houses and exotic tropical gardens.

With 16 major islands and hundreds of islets, the Bahamas derives its appeal from its stunning beaches and Caribbean Sea views. The country's beaches run the gamut from bustling Cable Beach to Pig Beach and Pink Sand Beach (both of which derive their names from their most unique characteristics). After enjoying your fill of the Caribbean sun, explore the Bahamas' expansive protected areas, including Lucayan National Park. Just plan on sticking to one or two islands to avoid blowing your vacation budget on transportation costs.

St. Barts is known for its scenic beaches (from beautiful Anse de Grande Saline to sprawling Anse des Flamands) and unique French Caribbean culture, which is evident in its cuisine and lively annual festivals. St. Barts is also synonymous with luxury, so you'll find many high-end hotels and upscale resorts here, plus harbors that house mega-yachts. To save some coin, grab food at a local supermarket before heading to the beach for a picnic.

The bright-colored buildings and natural features of St. George's harbor in Grenada offer a view worth savoring. But don't stare for too long – Grenada has more than 45 beaches to choose from, including the 2-mile-long Grand Anse Beach. Regardless of which shoreline you choose, you'll find clear water and white sand surrounded by lush greenery. If you need a break from the sand, head to Belmont Estate for a chocolate tour or stretch your legs on Grand Etang National Park & Forest Reserve's hiking trails.

St. Kitts garners its popularity in part from the soft sands and buzzing nightlife of Frigate Bay. While many choose to vacation here to relax at a resort on the beach and enjoy delicious cuisine (think: tasty seafood and fresh fruit), this destination offers plenty in the way of culture as well. It hosts excellent festivals, most notably the St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival (known locally as Sugar Mas). When you need a break from the action, hop on a ferry for a daytrip to the quieter island of Nevis, where you'll find Oualie and Pinney's beaches.

Antigua is home to a wealth of diverse beaches – 365, to be exact. So whether you're interested in grabbing a bite to eat at Valley Church Beach or seeking a more secluded, romantic vacation at Half Moon Bay, you likely won't be disappointed. Plus, Antigua is where you'll find some of the best resorts in the Caribbean. The island also offers historical attractions to recognize Antigua's Colonial past, such as Nelson's Dockyard, constructed by the British Navy using enslaved people for labor, and Betty's Hope, an early sugar plantation.

As one of the ABC islands (along with Aruba and Bonaire), Curaçao sits outside the hurricane belt, meaning you'll find sunny, pleasant temperatures year-round and little threat from swirling storms that can wreak havoc in the Caribbean. The dependable weather and healthy coral reefs (compared to the rest of the Caribbean) make Curaçao a top destination for divers, snorkelers and beach bums. Plus, this Dutch Caribbean locale boasts a lively capital filled with pastel-colored architecture and culturally significant sights, such as a sand-floored synagogue from the 18th century.

Home to towering mountains, dense rainforests, colorful coral reefs and stunning beaches, Jamaica boasts diverse scenery that attracts visitors from around the globe. Adventurous travelers can hike, rock climb or dive while their calm counterparts can lounge on Seven Mile Beach's soft white sand or swim in its clear water. It's perfectly possible to spend an entire trip having fun and relaxing at one of the island's numerous all-inclusive resorts. But for an authentic dose of local culture, head to Kingston (the island's capital) to attend a lively festival, listen to reggae tunes and try local specialties like Blue Mountain Coffee and jerk chicken.

You'll find first-rate beaches and plenty of activities on St. Martin - St. Maarten, as well as an assortment of hotel options and vacation rentals for many budgets. Experienced and first-time scuba divers can explore the reefs, shipwrecks, sea life and rock formations that surround the island. Compared to its neighbors, this group of islands has flown under the radar for years but is worth a visit. In this French Caribbean archipelago, you can explore white, golden and black sand beaches. Roundtrip airfare from Houston to Cancún typically costs around $200 on airlines like Frontier or Spirit this time of year, but you'll pay extra for baggage.

All-inclusive resorts to help save on your stay

Mexico is home to a bevy of beautiful properties, but the best bang for your buck when it comes to accommodations are all-inclusive resorts.

"All-inclusive hotels can be extremely affordable. And the best part is they allow families especially to budget," The Points Guy founder, Brian Kelly, told "GMA."

To make sure you're getting the best deal, he suggested "comparison shop online using online travel agencies, but when you hone in on the one you want, contact them directly and negotiate for an even better rate and extra perks like airport pickups."

"Choose the right resort, whether that's kid friendly or adults-only," Kelly said, "making the right choice is critical to your experience."

"Finally, take advantage of everything there is to offer," he said. "Go to the orientation and pay attention. You'd be shocked at some of the free, valuable activities you can get as part of your stay."

In Playa del Carmen, Sandos Caracol Eco Resort offers up to 55% off the best available rate all summer, plus two kids stay free.

Like many all-inclusives food and drinks are bundled into the price at Sandos Caracol, but so are the activities from pools with waterslides to bike tours.

This region of Mexico is also home to beautiful ancient Mayan ruins and cenotes -- which translates to well -- and the all-natural cavernous pit makes a perfect place for swimming, diving and snorkeling.

Activities to enjoy the area like a local

Book off-site excursions during your stay, whether directly through the resort with any affiliated companies or going directly to an excursion company and ask for any potential discounts.

Royal Caribbean embraces a new beverage trend

When you sail with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian or MSC Cruises, bars figure prominently into the proposition. 

All four cruise lines offer all-you-can-drink packages, and unless you're in your cabin, you're never all that far from a bar or your next drink.

Traditionally, cruise lines have featured tropical drinks by the pools and beverages themed to the venues they're being served in elsewhere on the ship. 

Royal Caribbean, for example, offers a deeper beer selection in its pubs while Bolero's, a Latin-themed club/bar serves "Cuban mojitos, Brazilian caipirinhas, and your favorite classic cocktails to the sound of a four-piece band playing salsa, cumbia, merengue, samba and more," according to the cruise line.

Royal Caribbean ( RCL ) recently launched a new menu its its Schooner Bar, the piano bar that's on every ship in the fleet. The cruise line detailed the new menu on its website:

If you love a great old fashioned, you’ll find five versions of it on the menu at Schooner Bar. ... You can also dial up your night with a glamorous champagne cocktail, topped with Domaine Chandon and sweetened with an Angostura-doused sugar cube. Or sip your way across the Caribbean with a Zacapa rum-spiked daiquiri, shaken hard and double-strained, or a classic Papa Doble, prepared with Bacardi Superior rum, lychee and grapefruit juice. If you’re a fan of the Tom Collins, you’ll find that, too — plus four additional versions that each spotlight a different spirit.

Those are all versions of classic cocktails with modern twists. Royal Caribbean has also been working on expanding its nonalcoholic and low-alcohol beverages, as those have become a trend among Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z (a generation that still has members under the legal drinking age of 21).

Royal Caribbean embraces low- and no-alcohol beverages

On a media sailing before Royal Caribbean's new flagship Icon of the Seas began sailing with paying passengers, the cruise line's director of beverage operations, Ed Eiswirth, held an event where his team showed off the more than 100 new drinks created for the ship. It was a visually impressive lineup that leaned into fun and featured many nonalcoholic options.

These weren't your classic virgin cocktails that simply copy alcoholic drinks without the alcohol. Instead, Eiswirth's team created mixology-driven beverages designed for all ages.

The strategy makes sense because Icon of the Seas has multiple bars on board, including the Lemon Post in the Surfside area, which is designed for families. The strategy also applies to spots including the Rye & Bean coffee bar in the AquaDome and even the Swim & Tonic swim-up bar on the pool deck.

Essentially, Royal Caribbean wants to give underage passengers, as well as light and non-drinkers, a chance to taste mocktails that live up to the standards set by the on-board cocktail menu.

Royal Caribbean added a zero-proof menu

Catering to people looking for no-alcohol and low-alcohol drinks isn't completely new for Royal Caribbean. The company first added a zero proof menu to its ships in 2021.

Eiswirth commented on his team's efforts to serve this audience in a statement reported by Royal Caribbean Blog .

"I stumbled on a lot of research around sober-curious guests and especially around Gen Z being super curious," he said. "These are young people who still drink alcohol, but they consume a lot less. They’ll go out at night and buy one really nice, handcrafted cocktail and then switch to something that’s no alcohol but that has just as much care taken and is really curated as well as a cocktail." 

Eiswirth wanted his mixologists to give the same care to nonalcoholic and low-alcohol beverages that they did to inventing new cocktails.

"We really took the time to curate them as stand-alone drinks without alcohol and really look at blending flavors that work together versus a stock virgin daiquiri that is just an alcoholic drink we’ve taken the alcohol out of. We didn’t even consider putting alcohol in these as we put them together," he added.

Sargassum/Seaweed Advisory

Sargassum is a free-floating seaweed that is especially prolific in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. Last-minute travelers can take comfort that an airline has plenty of deals available for a summer getaway.  Allegiant Airlines , a discount carrier based in Las Vegas, recently began offering hundreds of last-minute flight deals with wide availability through August 2024 to popular summer destinations including Austin, Chicago, New York City, Orlando, and more.  Passengers can visit Allegiant’s sale page , and enter their desired departure city to find deals from their home market, and even set a budget for the maximum amount they would like to pay for flights. There is no scheduled end date for the sale, and fare prices are subject to change.  Travel + Leisure spotted a wide availability of flights to and from popular Florida summer destinations including:

Justice Thomas reveals more travel paid for by GOP donor

Other justices report lucrative book deals, beyoncé tickets.

WASHINGTON — Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday belatedly acknowledged more travel paid by Republican megadonor Harlan Crow, while several colleagues reported six-figure payments as part of book deals.

Thomas, who has faced criticism for failing to report luxury trips paid for by Crow and others over many years, said in his annual financial disclosure that, in 2019, Crow paid for a hotel room in Bali, Indonesia, for a single night, and food and lodging at a private club in Sonoma County, Calif. He did not report any travel paid by others last year.

The disclosure on Indonesia is curious for what it omits: the rest of the trip. ProPublica reported last year that Thomas flew to Indonesia on Crow’s private jet and then boarded his superyacht for an islands tour, one of many trips Crow has given to Thomas and his wife, Ginni, over the years.

Ketanji Brown Jackson, reported eye-popping numbers, a nearly $900,000 advance for her upcoming memoir, and attention-grabbing gifts, including four tickets to a Beyoncé concert valued at $3,700 from the singer herself.

Jackson was one of four Supreme Court justices who reported sizable income from book deals. Justice Brett Kavanaugh reported being paid $340,000 by the conservative Regnery Publishing company. The company was sold and the book is to be published by an imprint at Hachette Book Group, according to Axios, which also reported this week that Kavanaugh’s book will deal with his contentious confirmation hearing that included allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied. The court confirmed Friday that the justice is writing a legal memoir.

Justices Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor reported royalty income of $250,000 and nearly $90,000, respectively.

In their day jobs, the justices are being paid $298,500 this year, except for Chief Justice John Roberts, who earns $312,200.

The only justice whose report was not available Friday is Samuel Alito, who received an extension for up to 90 days, as he does most years. The justice has separately been under scrutiny over flags that flew outside homes he owned. He said they were raised by his wife.

Jackson, the first Black woman on the nation’s highest court, signed a book contract soon after taking her seat in 2022. The book, “Lovely One,” is to be published in September.

The total value of her book deal has not been publicly disclosed, but it is expected to rival if not exceed what Sotomayor was paid for her memoir, “My Beloved World,” more than $3 million.

Among the current justices, only Roberts, Alito and Justice Elena Kagan have so far not cut book deals. Thomas received a $1.5 million advance, stunning at the time, for his 2007 book, “My Grandfather’s Son.” Justice Amy Coney Barrett in 2022 reported receiving $425,000 for a yet-to-be-released book, part of a reported $2 million deal she signed soon after joining the court in 2020.

The disclosures paint a partial picture of the justices’ finances, as they are not required to reveal the value of their homes or, for those who are married, their spouses’ salary.

The justices adopted an ethics code in November, though it lacks a means of enforcement. The code treats travel, food and lodging as expenses rather than gifts, for which monetary values must be reported. Justices aren’t required to attach a value to expenses.

In March, the federal judiciary began requiring judges to disclose travel-related gifts and their values — rather than reporting such gifts as reimbursements. The justices say they generally abide by the same rules, but Thomas did not disclose the cost of the Bali hotel.

Some Democratic lawmakers are continuing to press legislation that would require the court to adopt a binding code of conduct and provide for investigations of alleged violations. But the prospect for such legislation is considered remote in a closely divided Congress.

Only two justices reported receiving gifts last year. Thomas said he was given two photo albums worth $2,000 by Terrence Giroux and his wife. Giroux is the executive director emeritus of the Horatio Alger Association.

Jackson received artwork for her Supreme Court office worth $12,500. And then there were the Beyoncé tickets, worth more than $900 a pop. Beyoncé performed two concerts in the Washington area in August 2023, though Jackson’s disclosure does not say when or where the tickets were for.

“Justice Jackson is Crazy in Love with Beyonce’s music,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said, invoking a Beyoncé song. “Who isn’t?”

How much is a ticket to Disney? Cheaper than usual this summer

Summer can be scorching hot in Florida, but if you can take the heat, you can score some of the best deals of the yea r at Walt Disney World. 

Special three- and four-day Magic Tickets bring prices down to under $100 a day for adults, which at Disney and other theme parks means anyone age 10 and up.

Disneyland in California is also offering a summer promo slashing prices in half for kids ages 3 to 9. Admission is always free for children under the age of 3 at both resorts.

Here’s what to know about saving at Disney parks this summer.

How much do tickets to Disney World cost?

Disney World tickets vary by date and park. This year, starting prices for one-day, one-park admission for adults range from $109 at Disney's Animal Kingdom to $124 at Magic Kingdom. Next year , the cheapest one-day, one-park adult tickets will cost $119. On most dates, prices are significantly higher than the starting price. 

However, the resort is offering two ticket deals through the summer. The 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket costs $396, which works out to $99 a day. That includes one day at each of Disney World’s four theme parks, without park-hopping or repeating parks. Tickets are valid through Sept. 22 and must be used within seven days of the start date.

The 3-Day, 3-Park Magic Ticket costs $267, which works out to $89 a day. It includes one day each at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, without park-hopping or repeating parks. Admission to Magic Kingdom is not included. Tickets are valid through Sept. 24 and must be used within five days of the start date.

How much does it cost to go to Disneyland?

Disneyland ticket prices also vary by date. One-day, one-park admission starts at $104 for adults and $98 for kids ages 3 to 9. However this summer, child prices drop down to less than $50 per day with a special 3-Day Disneyland Ticket offer.

Guests visiting Monday through Thursday can save the most. Three-day tickets cost $249 for adults and $149 for children, which works out to $83 per day for adults and less than $50 per day for kids with no park hopping. Monday to Thursday tickets may not be used on Fridays or weekends.

Guests who want more flexibility can get 3-day tickets valid any day of the week for $299 per adult (less than $100 per day) and $199 per child (less than $67 per day), without park hopping.

Both types of tickets are valid from June 10 through Sept. 26 and are subject to park reservation availability. Unlike Disney World, Disneyland still requires park reservations for all tickets.
