Audi Summer Concerts 2023: advance booking opens now

• The popular festival for young and old will run from June 23 to mid-July 2023
• Symphony concerts, chamber music, and children’s concerts are all in the works – some initial highlights have already been fixed, while the full program will be released in the spring
• Ukrainian violinist Daniil Gonobolin, who studies at Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s Karajan Academy on an Audi-sponsored scholarship, will appear as a soloist

The anticipation is already building: the dates and initial program details for the Audi Summer Concerts 2023 have been fixed. The concerts will take place from June 23 to mid-July 2023 in Ingolstadt. Advance ticket booking is now open for two concerts: a performance by the Signum Quartet from Bremen and a special collaboration between the Audi Young Persons’ Choral Academy and Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The dates have also been set for the popular open-air concerts in Ingolstadt's Klenze Park: Audi would be delighted to see you there on June 30, July 1, and July 2.

In a rich calendar of Audi cultural engagement, the Audi Summer Concerts are an undisputed highlight: With their top-quality performances of classical music and experimental formats, the concerts are well known and loved in the Ingolstadt region and beyond. In 2023, the Audi Summer Concerts will take place in Ingolstadt from June 23 to mid-July. There will be a diverse program for young and old alike, featuring symphony concerts, chamber music, children’s concerts, and much more besides. The popular open-air event in Klenze Park will also be back, this time with three concerts.

Audi is not a sponsor of the summer concerts, but the organizer – and therefore an innovative promoter of cultural life in Ingolstadt. The summer concerts are designed as a festival for the whole family. As well as being part of the Audi ArtExperience cultural initiative, they form part of the corporate citizenship activities of the Four Rings brand. Audi sees its role as being a good neighbor in the cultural sector, as elsewhere, with social engagement in the city and the region.

“Between Arcadia and Anarchy” and “Scenes from Goethe’s Faust”

The definitive festival program is still in the works and the full schedule will be announced in the spring. However, two highlights have already been confirmed: On June 25, 2023, the Signum Quartet from Bremen will be performing at the Audi museum mobile. “Between Arcadia and Anarchy” is the motto of the evening. Part one will feature classic works from the likes of Schubert, Mozart, and Stravinsky, while part two – titled “ Rock Lounge ” – will have tunes from rock bands such as Cream, Led Zeppelin, and Radiohead.

There will also be an experimental flavor to proceedings on July 7 when the Audi Young Persons’ Choral Academy will team up with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Auditorium (Festsaal) of Ingolstadt Municipal Theater to perform Robert Schumann’s “Scenes from Goethe’s Faust” – accompanied by video visualizations created by director Michael Sturminger, who has been responsible for the “Everyman” production at the Salzburg Festival since 2017. The co-production by Audi Summer Concerts and Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra signals the direction in which the summer concerts are heading. In future, the organizers want to focus increasingly on producing their own concerts so as to give the festival a special character. The musical direction for the evening will be in the hands of Principal Conductor Axel Kober, who regularly directs large operatic productions at prestigious venues such as the world-famous Bayreuth Festival. Soloists will include Franz Josef Selig as Mephisto, Kerstin Avemo as Gretchen, and Michael Nagy as Faust.

Audi-sponsored soloist from Ukraine

A special feature of this summer’s festival is the participation of the young violinist Daniil Gonobolin from Ukraine. With the help of Audi sponsorship, he is studying at the Berliner Philharmonic Orchestra’s Karajan Academy. At Audi Summer Concerts 2023, he will be performing with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra at the open-air event in Klenze Park. His education is being funded out of the proceeds from the fund-raising campaign at Audi Summer Concerts 2022. All revenue from ticket sales in 2022 were allocated to Ukrainian relief causes. In addition to the support for Gonobolin, a donation was made to Ingolstadt’s Simon Mayr School for Song and Music, which had developed a special program to support up to 30 Ukrainian refugee children in the school year 2022/23.

Bayern Munich to face Manchester City and Liverpool in Audi Summer Tour

Record Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will play in Japan and Singapore as part of their summer pre-season plans, with friendlies lined up against English sides Manchester City and Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel's men will be in Asia from 24 July to 3 August as part of their Audi Summer Tour. Their first game is scheduled against City on 26 July at Tokyo's National Stadium, where they will also face J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale on 29 July. The Bavarian giants will then head to Singapore, taking on Liverpool at the National Stadium on 2 August.

While Bayern visited Singapore on their last pre-season tour to Asia in 2017, this will be their first trip to Japan since 2008. The games in Tokyo - which follow a training camp in Tegernsee, just outside Munich - are being organised jointly with SPTV, the Bundesliga’s Japanese media partner, and the DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga).

Speaking after the announcement of the training camp and tour, then Bayern CEO  Oliver Kahn said, "FC Bayern is always conscious of its roots in Bavaria and Munich, and it's part of the club's tradition that we regularly prepare for the new season at Tegernsee.

"At the same time, we want to give our fans around the world the opportunity to see our players in the flesh. We're looking forward to this year’s Audi Summer Tour in Asia."

Arsenal Women reveal USA summer tour as club grows fanbase

A rsenal Women have officially announced that they will play two preseason friendlies in the United States this summer. The matchups are part of the club’s first-ever tour of America. The decision to travel Stateside, however, follows a similar move for the English outfit’s men’s team. Mikel Arteta’s squad will also play two friendlies across the pond in July.

While the men’s team will call Philadelphia and Los Angeles home for their tour, Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal Women is staying in Washington, D.C. The Gunners are currently scheduled to remain in the nation’s capital from August 15 to 26. During this timeframe, the women’s side will first face off against National Women’s Soccer League club Washington Spirit.

The initial match against the third-placed Spirit is on August 18 at the NWSL team’s home arena, Audi Field. Washington is currently led by USWNT stars Trinity Rodman, Casey Krueger, and Hal Hershfelt.

Arsenal Women will then play local rivals Chelsea a week after the Spirit matchup. The two Women’s Super League teams are among the biggest clubs in the league. The two sides have combined to collect the last eight league titles, with the Blues winning seven of these trophies. Chelsea is currently one of the top women’s teams in Europe and is the former home of USWNT manager Emma Hayes.

Arsenal Women recently played friendly in front of 42,000 fans

The foreign tour for the Gunners comes after the women’s team most recently played in Australia. Immediately following the 2023/24 campaign, Arsenal Women traveled Down Under to play the A-League All Stars Women. The Gunners went on to win the friendly 1-0 thanks to a lone goal by star striker Alessia Russo. Over 42,000 fans attended the game at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

The decision to move their preseason preparations to America shows that the club’s fanbase continues to grow. “To take our women’s team to the U.S. for the first time on tour is another sign of great progress,” proclaimed Arsenal’s managing director Richard Garlick.

“We know from our recent trip to Australia that the interest and love for Arsenal Women stretches far and wide. We want to build on that and bring our US supporters closer to the club, we look forward to our visit and building strong foundations for a momentous season ahead, which will see more women’s games come to Emirates Stadium.”

Spirit season ticket members get first chance at seats

Arsenal Women recently announced that they will play their 2024/25 league matches at the massive Emirates Stadium. The move is certainly rare in the sport. A vast majority of women’s teams play their games at much smaller arenas compared to their men’s counterparts. Nevertheless, Arsenal Women has essentially led the charge in grabbing more interest in women’s soccer throughout Europe.

Tickets for the two Arsenal Women matches in the States will go on pre-sale beginning on Wednesday, June 18th. This initial chance to purchase tickets is only available for premium Spirit season ticket holders, as well as official Arsenal and Chelsea supporter groups.

Fans not in these categories can currently register for another presale event on the following day. Tickets will then go on sale for the general public on Thursday, June 20, at 10 a.m. ET. Both friendlies will stream for free on DAZN as well.

For the second time in three years, the Chelsea women’s team will embark on a preseason tour of the United States.

The Blues will come to the U.S. for two matches this summer as they continue preparing for the 2024-25 season.

Chelsea will be led by a new head coach, as Emma Hayes departed to take over the U.S. women’s national team after clinching the club’s fourth straight WSL title.

In 2022, Chelsea visited the U.S. to competed for the Women’s International Champions Cup in Portland.

This time around, Chelsea will be on the east coast as it plays NJ/NY Gotham FC in New Jersey before heading south to face Arsenal in Washington, D.C. The latter match will be part of a doubleheader, with the Washington Spirit facing the Kansas City Current in the first game.

Ilim Group Presents its New KLB Mill to Industry Players

Presentation of the largest kraftliner production site in Russia took place at the 27th International Exhibition of the Packaging Industry RosUpack

The presentation of the Big Ust-Ilimsk Project, involving the construction of Russia’s one-of-a-kind pulp and board (KLB) mill in the Irkutsk Oblast, was one of the key events at RosUpack 2023. When speaking at the plenary session on corrugated board packaging market development, Alexey Chenyaev, Ilim’s Senior Vice President, Sales, Supply Chain Management and Packaging, focused on the advanced manufacturing and environmental solutions implemented at the new KLB Mill and prospects for sales market expansion it will secure.

After KLB Mill ramp-up (600,000 tons of kraftliner per year), the total annual output of Ilim Group will amount to 4.3 million tons. The Company will be one of the world’s largest producers of unbleached packaging materials and will strengthen its leadership in the Chinese market of wood-free corrugated materials with a share of approximately 50 to 60%.

The Big Ust-Ilimsk project was met by exhibitors with great interest. This year the event was attended by more than 740 companies from 19 countries. Ilim’s booth with an area of 140 m2 was one of the largest one at the site and was operated by about 50 experts from Sales and Corrugated Box Business Management Departments. The booth was attended by over 60 key accounts and more than 120 representatives of various companies, including such major ones as Heinz, MARS and KDV-Group.

Ilim Group is the leader of the Russian pulp and paper industry and one of the industry leaders globally. Ilim Group has three pulp and paper mills in the Arkhangelsk (Koryazhma) and Irkutsk (Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk) Oblasts, two modern corrugated box plants in the Leningrad and Moscow Oblasts (Kommunar and Dmitrov, respectively), and Sibgiprobum engineering and design institute (Irkutsk).

Reds fall to City

FC Bayern fell to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the first match of the 2023 Audi Summer Tour. James McAtee scored for City in the first half, Mathys Tel levelling the scores with ten minutes to go, only for Aymeric Laporte to restore City's lead four minutes later. Antonio Tikvić and Frans Krätzig of the reserves made their first-team debut, as did sub Aleksandar Pavlović.

Bayern lined up with Yann Sommer in goal and Noussair Mazraoui, Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer anchored a midfield featuring Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman, with Serge Gnabry up front.

Boss Thomas Tuchel shuffled his deck for the second half, keeper Sven Ulreich, Bouna Sarr, Josip Stanišić, Tikvić, Krätzig, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch, Paul Wanner, Gabriel Vidović, Sadio Mané and Mathys Tel coming on. Pavlović and Arijon Ibrahimović took over from Wanner and Vidović in the closing stages.

Trailing at half-time

The 65,000 crowd in Tokyo saw an entertaining, up-tempo contest between two evenly-matches sides. Stones fired wide before Musiala saw an effort deflected behind and Sané hit the crossbar.

City took the lead when Sommer parried a shot, but McAtee was on hand to mop up the rebound. A Coman shot was blocked before Ederson denied Musiala and Coman, and Bayern were a goal down at half-time, ruing their missed chaces.

Tel's equaliser not enough

Clear-cut chances were at a premium after half-time, Stanišić making a crucial block against Rodrigo. The game sprang to life with ten minutes to, Ederson parrying against Wanner, but Tel netted the rebound to level the scores. Haaland and Cancelo saw their efforts blocked, but Laporte soon restored City's lead.

The Bavarians next face Kawasaki Frontale on Saturday before taking on Liverpool in Singapore next Wednesday.
