As you may or may not know, Arcade Fire has built a strong reputation for being one of the best live bands out there today. Since their release of "Funeral" in 2004 they have been building an arsenal of captivating, energizing, and flat-out intense music that in my opinion was made complete (at least for now) with "Reflektor" in 2014. On their "Reflektor Tour" they epitomize all set lists with their perfect mix of past and present Arcade Fire.

At the concert I attended in DC they opened with "Afterlife" perfectly setting the mood for the rest of the show; it was energetic but not over the top (we needed to save our energy for songs like "Normal Person" "Month of May" and "Ready to Start") and all the fans were able to sing along to the chorus, connecting us to the band right from the start. Needless to say, we were all giddy with excitement after the opener.

While there were a fair share of intense songs you can't help but loose control during, there were also some beautiful moments, specifically during "It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus)." Win begun the song as usual at the stage up front, but Régine (Win's wife and co-lead singer for those that don't know) had mysteriously disappeared. Then we heard her voice from a different stage in the center of the GA area. This was cool because Win and Régine were separated and then during the really beautiful part of the song they would reach out for each other, only to be unsuccessful in reuniting, bringing the meaning of the song to life in a way.

Through all of the intense and beautiful moments, Arcade Fire, after two hours of practically non-stop music, arrived at the finale. Let me tell you, this is something so majestic, so empowering yet humbling, so down to earth, it doesn't deserve to be written about. You need to experience it. Live. All that was left for me to say after the show was that Arcade Fire truly deserve their reputation for being perhaps the best performers out there today.

"It's a bunch of geeks playing ****ing art music. It shouldn't have been any ****ing good. But they were ****ing amazing". Such was the reaction of the gentleman behind me after my first Arcade Fire gig, at Manchester Academy in 2005, and I certainly wouldn't disagree.

Back then, the most successful alumni of the mid-Noughties golden age of Canadian music really were stereotypical art-school types, all embroidered blazers and harps and stilted, awkward banter. But my word, put them on a stage and they'd blow your ****ing mind.

"Wake Up", with its peerlessly anthemic chorus delivered with almost religious fervour. The cacophonous, punky "Laika", with Richard Reed Parry using every hittable object on stage as an impromptu drum kit. "Haiti", with its eminently danceable groove belying the darkness of its lyrics. And "In The Backseat", a song that rendered a 1500-strong audience utterly mute, and concluded with the audience spontaneously carrying on its closing refrain for two full minutes after the band had left the stage. It was exhilarating. It was revelatory. It was sublime.

Since then, I've seen them in churches and stadiums and muddy fields and on one memorable occasion, a BBC studio. I've seen their sound change and evolve with each album (the disco influenced "Reflektor" is a whole different beast to the stripped back Americana of "The Suburbs", which in turn is a massive shift from the dense and ostentatious "Neon Bible", not to mention the rough-edged beauty of "Funeral"). I've seen their audiences grow bigger each tour, not to mention their collection of industry awards. But what has remained a constant is their dedication to putting 110% into their live shows.

Last night, I saw Arcade Fire for the 27th time. It was just as joyous and vital as the first.

Arcade Fire at the Forum was an amazing experience. This was my first time seeing them live and I think they were meant to play big venues. Seeing as this was a part of their "Reflektor Tour" I thought this was going to be mostly new songs, but they made sure to play a wide range of songs, even a few from Neon Bible, which surprised me.

I knew it was going to be a good show when the announcer came out to introduce the band in a full mirrored disco ball suit and the band opened with Reflektor, making sure anyone who had just recently heard of them would get into the show. They continued with plenty of hits from each of their albums like "The Suburbs", "Ready to Start", "No Cars Go", etc. But for each of the songs from their newest album had little fun tidbits like guys in high heels vogue dancing to "We Exist" and Regine appearing on the secondary stage in the middle of the crowd for "It's Never Over." But they really brought it home when in the middle of "Here Comes the Night Time" they completely covered the crowd in the most confetti I have ever seen. It was definitely a dazzling spectacle.

There were a few other strange tidbits like having "The Reflektors" play Rage Against the Machine before Arcade Fire came back out for their encore as well as dedicating a song to Axl Rose. All in all the night was amazing and came to a very climactic end when the whole stadium echoed with the audience singing "Wake Up" at the top of their lungs. It was probably one of the best concert experiences I have ever had. In summation, if you want to see something very different and have stories to tell for years to come, I would highly recommend seeing Arcade Fire live. They were born to play stadium shows and I think they will only be playing bigger and bigger venues from now on.

Arcade Fire was absolutely amazing. Half an hour before the doors opened, a tour guide recruited me to dance for them and she took me backstage. I saw Regine Chassagne in a hallway and I said Hi and she was a little surprised but said Hello back. Then I got to put on a Regine bobblehead and opened the pit at Barclay's Center and danced to the opening act for about fifteen minutes. When AF came on, they opened with Reflektor, possibly their top song in that album and everyone was boiled over to see someone in a full on Reflektor suit on the little elevated stage in the middle of the arena. The set list consisted of crowd favorite songs from the Suburbs and Reflektor, a little rendition of My Body Is A Cage and of course the famous Wake Up from the album Funeral. Regine Chassagne was graceful and adorable everytime she danced, especially wearing a silver cape as Joan during Joan of Arc. Win Butler was very friendly with the crowd, trying on a fan's masquerade mask and shaking everyone's hand at the barricade when the show ended. Arcade Fire had lots of surprises and treats for their fans, great band with incredible talent and yet still so humble.

Although I was quite far away from the stage, Arcade Fire did not fail to blow my mind at Verizon Center in Washington DC last night. The show was full of surprises with outstanding costumes, and moving sets with synchronized lights. Even from 50 feet away from the stage I felt the excitement from the band, as well as the rest of the arena and I could not stop singing, dancing, fist-pumping... It was an experience I'll never forget. Only a band like Arcade Fire could make an entire arena of hundreds of people feel connected. Their albums, all unique, have such beautiful songs with powerful lyrics. You can feel the soul they put into the words as they sing them to the crowd.

Watching the crowd move as one and sing as one when the band started Wake Up gave me chills and I couldn't help but smile and pour my soul into singing along, (even though the band was so far away from me). Even without the lights, the costumes, the decorations like mirrors and a disco ball, the colorful, intense backgrounds, and the glitter and confetti, Arcade Fire would've been just as amazing.

They say perfection doesn't exist, well that's wrong when it comes to Arcade Fire. The show was perfect, almost surreal- definitely the concert of the year by far. The set list on the Wednesday show was as of it was made for me, playing songs I never thought I would hear live, it was an emotional experience. The lighting, costumes, music transitions, props was amazing, and the boxing type ring stage was incredibly clever, allowing them to be closer to the fans and yet providing a different show on every side. Words can't explain what I felt during and after the concert, it was playful, clever, emotional, energetic- Such an amazing band, I'm so glad I found them- I don't know how I was alive before finding them. They have such an incredible stage presence, I really truly recommend seeing them if you have the chance- they unite all ages and create magic and unity.

Night #2 of Arcade Fire's Brooklyn stand at the Barclay's Center did not disappoint. The massive arena show proved that Arcade Fire has successfully translated the energy of their indie early days to the big and shiny stages of the masses. The set list, leaning heavily on the new Reflektor and the now classic Funeral album was energetic and driving interspersed with a few of the more popular tracks from The Suburbs. The band did not let off the gas from the halfway point on, and the encore saw New York's own Marky Ramone take the stage to play drums as the band ripped through Ramones classics "I Don't Wanna Go Down in The Basement" and "I Wanna Be Sedated." As the confetti fell and the last notes of "Wake Up" rattled off the rafters a satiated NYC crowd was invited to stay and dance, though most quickly filed out into the night time, buzzing.

Kdmalcolm’s profile image

Arcade Fire played an absolutely electric show at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, leaving the crowd buzzing with more energy at the end than it already had at the start. Arcade Fire began their set with a Devo cover, which was a very nice tribute since Devo had to cancel that night due to a "kayaking accident." They covered all the bases, even playing older hits such as Rebellion(Lies). It truly was one of the best musical experiences I've ever had; the sound quality was unparalleled, the light show and visuals were engaging, and the jamming at the end of songs like Reflektor, Here Comes the Night Time, and Wake Up is what going to live shows is all about. The paper mache heads and ridiculous confetti just added to the effect. 10/10 would see again. Thanks Arcade Fire, best Wednesday night ever.

Well, as a show, it was one of the best ones I've ever been to, with spectacular mirror plays and great enphasis from the members of the band, who move from side to side of the stage (I think at least one of them was high on drugs, or was it just part of the show?). "It's never over" was fantastic to watch live, you can feel the synthony between Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. Problem is, I was so close to the stage that I couldn't enjoy the music itself: the soundcheck had been done badly, so that the bass would cover every other sound sometimes, and it seemed to be overdriven. But the way the crowd was taken by the concert was amazing, never seen anyone so close to their fans. I would have liked to follow their dress code, but, as you know, Rome is quite hot in summer.

With another album in the bag, Arcade Fire tour tickets are officially in high demand—and luckily, we’ve got all the tips for how to snag a discounted ticket (or two) to their show.

Arcade Fire 2022 World Tour Tickets

The Canadian indie rock group, which is helmed by married couple Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, released their critically acclaimed sixth studio album, WE,  on May 6, 2022. The record—the bulk of which was written before 2020—marks their last album featuring bandmember Will Butler before his departure from the band in 2021. “I left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete,” he tweeted in 2022. “There was no acute reason beyond that I’ve changed—and the band has changed—over the last almost 20 years. Time for new things.”

Will’s older brother and former bandmate, Win, addressed his amicable exit from the band during an interview with NME published in May 2022. “He’s our family and everyone in the band’s family, and he’s such a brilliant guy—he has so many things that just aren’t this band.” He added, “And on a human level, he’s got three young children, he just has so much other stuff to do. We’re fully supportive of his path, and can’t wait to see it.”

During their interview with NME, Arcade Fire bandleaders Win and Régine also opened up about their process behind making the new album. “I think when we were making these songs, we weren’t sure what world we were making it for,” Win shared. “There’s so many precarious things in the world and so much to have anxiety about, but I’ve been trying to really appreciate these moments when I’m in them. When the world is a beautiful place, I’m trying to allow myself to appreciate it in a way that I wouldn’t have before.”

For fans of Arcade Fire, there is perhaps no better moment to appreciate than getting to see the band live in concert. Of course, you’ll have to have tickets first! For everything there is to know about Arcade Fire’s 2022 tour—including the best way to get discounted Arcade Fire tickets—keep on reading ahead.

The U.K./European leg of the outing will launch on Aug. 30 in Dublin, and runs through dates in London, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Berlin and Warsaw before jumping to the U.S. for a fall swing.

The North American dates will kick off on Oct. 28 at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., with slated stops in Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., and a Dec. 1 date at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The U.K./European dates will feature opening sets from Feist, with Beck on board to perform acoustic sets on the North American gigs. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday (May 13).

The band’s fifth appearance on SNL for the Mother’s Day show included a pair of songs from their just-release sixth album, as well as a powerful message about abortion rights. Their first performance ran through “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid),” which contained a special Mother’s Day tribute, as well as a second, titanic, run through the scorched earth rocker “The Lightning I, II,” which ended with singer Win Butler making a statement about abortion rights in light of the May 2 leak of a Supreme Court draft decision signaling the possible overturning of the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.

“A woman’s right to choose, forever and ever and ever. Amen,” Butler said.

Arcade Fire announce only ‘Funeral’ 20th anniversary show for North America at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

The gig will be the only 'Funeral' show in North America this year

Arcade Fire have announced their only ‘Funeral’ 20th-anniversary show in North America, set to take place in Colorado.

  • READ MORE:  Arcade Fire’s ‘Funeral’ at 15: the album that killed indie rock as we knew it

The band  – comprised of frontman Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara – took to their social media to share that they are set to perform their 2004 album at “one of our favourite venues”, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on September 16.

A ticket presale will be available starting May 8 at 10am MDT (12pm EST / 9am PT / 5pm BST). Visit here to purchase tickets and check out a full list of tour dates below.

Arcade Fire ‘Funeral’ 20th anniversary tour dates are:

JULY  2 – Rho, Italy, Fiera Milano 4 – London, UK, O2 Academy Brixton 5 – London, UK, O2 Academy Brixton 7 – Dublin, Ireland, The Malahide Castle

SEPTEMBER 16 – Morrison, CO, Red Rocks Amphitheatre

The newly announced date is the latest gig to be shared after Arcade Fire revealed that they would be  playing “a limited number” of shows in celebration of their seminal 2004 debut LP .

Recommended

Back in February, the band shared two separate invitation posts that read: “Save the date. Arcade Fire invite you to attend a celebration of the twentieth anniversary of their debut album ‘Funeral’”. The caption of the posts read: “We will be playing a limited number of special concerts, and we would be honoured if you would join us. Black tie optional; should be real fun.”

The first two dates to be revealed were July 2 at the Fiera Milano in Rho, Italy and July 7 at the Malahide Castle in Dublin, Ireland. Echo And The Bunnymen were also announced as special guests for the Ireland date with more to been shared soon.

Arcade Fire released ‘Funeral’ on September 14, 2004 via Merge Records. In 2005, the LP earned a Grammy nomination in the category for Best Alternative Music Album. Since its release, ‘Funeral’ has received widespread critical acclaim and has been considered one of the greatest albums of all time.

The band previously played the album in full back in 2018 at their show in Los Angeles on September 20. They treated fans to all 10 tracks – back-to-front – before diving into the rest of their 23 song setlist.

‘Funeral’ is one of many classic 2004 albums which are turning 20 this year . Journalist Rhian Daly wrote: “[The album] was so called after many of the band’s members had suffered losses in their families, but out of grief came a new beginning. The record – a sprawling, epic, theatrical beauty – immediately won the group widespread acclaim, striking a chord with its cathartic and artful compositions.”

The band have been met with controversy in recent years. In August 22, frontman Win Butler was accused of sexual misconduct and “inappropriate” behaviour by four people . Those actions ranged from sexual assault to sending unwanted explicit text messages and pursuing relationships with fans of the band much younger than him. The following November, a fifth person came forward to accuse Butler of “emotionally abusive, manipulative, toxic” behaviour towards them.

Butler has denied allegations of misconduct, saying he was “very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour” but that all contact with his accusers was “consensual”.

In other news, Arcade Fire have announced a run of festival dates for summer 2024 and are set to play this year’s edition of Bilbao BBK Live .

Music | united flyers can turn points into red rocks amphitheatre tickets, mileageplus members need at least 11,000 points to qualify for concert perks.

Red Rocks Amphitheater, located above Denver at 6,450 feet offers a unique concert experience with its panoramic view of the city lights. (Photo provided by Visit Denver)

United’s MileagePlus members can redeem their miles for concert tickets — not all shows, of course — instead of simply sending them out of state on other flights. The deal, announced Thursday , pegs Denver International Airport’s largest carrier as Red Rock’s official airline sponsor. A minimum of 11,000 points is necessary to request tickets for a pair of attendees.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by United Airlines (@united)

Having an airline sponsor makes sense for the historic amphitheater: the record attendance that Red Rocks saw last year was driven in part by a crush of out-of-state visitors. They made up about half of all the 1.4 million attendees, and spent an estimated $305 million in the Denver metro area before and after concerts — out of a total $717 million from all Red Rocks visitors.

On most nights this season, about 25% of the audience there will be from out of town, operator Denver Arts & Venues has told The Denver Post.

A recent AAA Travel and Bread Financial survey also found that younger music fans are helping drive the overall surge in concert-season travel, especially at Red Rocks. Three in five Gen Z and Millennial-aged respondents said they’ve traveled or plan to travel in a 12-month period to events more than 50 miles from home, such as concerts, comedy shows and sporting events.

“This compares to just 43% of Gen X and just 27% of Baby Boomers,” according to AAA.

Artists themselves can also influence Gen Z’s travel habits, as one in five travelers (20%) have traveled or plan to travel to a Taylor Swift concert, according to AAA. One-off and rare Red Rocks visits fall neatly into that category, with shows like Arcade Fire’s only 20th anniversary “Funeral” performance in North America this year taking place at Red Rocks.

United launched a parallel contest last week to win the “performance travel package” to Red Rocks, which covers travel and hotel fees, “as well as tickets to a mutually agreed upon performance based on availability.” United customers can enter through June 5 at unitedatredrocks.com .

Attack in Moscow: What role does the band Picnic play?

A t least 137 people have been killed in the attack on the "Crocus City Hall" in Moscow. The Russian rock band, Picnic, was due to perform on stage on Friday. What does their performance have to do with the attack? On the evening of Friday March 22, at around 8 p.m. local time, the Moscow concert venue, Crocus City Hall, became the scene of a bloody attack -- the exact background of which is still the subject of speculation. At least 137 were killed in the massacre, while many others are in critical condition. They were all awaiting a concert by the Russian rock band Picnic, which was due to start at 9 p.m.

'Wash yourself with your own blood'

Russia has been in a state of shock ever since. While the whole world is expressing its sympathy, rumors and false information are doing the rounds. Four suspects have been brought before a court in the Russian capital. The four Tajiks were formally accused of involvement in a terrorist attack by the Basmanny district court on Sunday evening. They face possible life imprisonment. At the same time, people are wondering why the terrorists chose this particular event. Was the attack also aimed at the band Picnic?

"Fear nothing, fear nothing -- no fire, no ringing shadow. You are no longer a rosy child. Wash yourself with your own blood in the morning. And shake the blossoming day." These are some of the lyrics of Picnic's new song, which was released on March 7 on the band's YouTube channel.

Those lines sound almost prophetic, especially now in Russia. A message posted on the band's website reads, "We express our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the victims. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. We are deeply shocked by this terrible tragedy and mourn with you." The band's musicians were unharmed because they were able to hide in the dressing room.

Picnic is one of the veterans of the Russian music scene, with origins in progressive rock. Founded in 1978 in St. Petersburg, which was still called Leningrad then, the band initially called itself Orion before changing its name to Picnic in 1981. Both monikers go back to the typical Soviet rock scene trick of choosing names that sound Western but cannot be banned.

In the 1980s, however, Picnic ended up on the list of bands that were denied major public appearances. The musicians and their audience therefore lived out their love for role models such as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones in rock clubs, sometimes underground. Singer and songwriter Edmund Shklyarsky has been the band leader since 1982. The son of a renowned scientist and a concert pianist, Shklyarsky attaches great importance to his Polish roots and his Catholic faith. From an early age, his sources of inspiration were not only the Rolling Stones and The Animals, but also Russian avant-garde poetry.

Picnic members are considered war supporters

In May 2023, Russian writer and nationalist activist Zakhar Prilepin praised the band's leader. According to Prilepin, Shklyarsky actively supported the "special operation" in Ukraine, among others through monetary donations. Prelepin further presumed that this was the "normal position of a Russian man and a Russian musician" -- a statement that has neither been denied nor confirmed by the members of Picnic.

Their being booked to perform in venue as renowned as the Crocus City Hall in Moscow can be seen as proof of the band's loyalty to the Russian state -- which had demanded a clear commitment from the country's rock and pop scene, especially when the war against Ukraine began. Musicians and bands who positioned themselves against the war -- including Russian stars such as Boris Grebenshchikov (Aquarium), Yuri Shevchuk (DDT) and Zemfira -- had to leave the country and suffered career setbacks. Russian pop diva Alla Pugacheva has also sharply criticized the Putin regime from abroad.

On the other hand, stars loyal to the regime are rewarded with lucrative performances and awards. The approximately 6,200 tickets for the Picnic concert on March 22 were almost sold out, as was the planned second gig on Saturday. Ticket prices ranged from E100 to E300 and the band was to be accompanied by a symphony orchestra and a "spectacular stage and light show," at least according to advertising.

Even before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Picnic was added to the list of artists unwelcome in Ukraine. The reason for this was the band's repeated performances on the occupied Crimean peninsula, including in Sevastopol.

The day after the tragedy, numerous interview requests, including from DW, were met with nothing but expressions of grief and shock. On Sunday, March 24, Edmund Shklyarsky released a video message. "I would like to express my condolences to all the victims and relatives of this terrible and senseless tragedy," he said, adding that no words have yet been invented that could resurrect people and comfort their fellow human beings.

Whether there's any special significance in the terrorists' choice to attack a concert by this particular band remains a matter of speculation -- as does the question of whether Crocus City Hall plays any special role as the target of the carnage.

A concert venue of superlatives

Crocus City Hall is a state-of-the-art concert hall on the grounds of an exhibition complex and is probably the most prestigious stage in Moscow among musicians. With an audience capacity of 5,000 to 10,000 people, it is much larger than a traditional concert hall and only slightly smaller than a soccer stadium. In short, a superlative venue in Moscow with no competitors.

Completed in 2009, Crocus, as it is known for short, quickly became one of Russia's most important concert halls. Located some 20 kilometers from the Kremlin, the venue can be reached within 30 minutes from the city center, depending on Moscow's notorious traffic congestions. It's faster for residents of the affluent suburbs in the west of the city, who prefer to attend the concerts there.

The excellent public transport links could have been an argument for the terrorists to choose Crocus City Hall for their attack. In addition, security precautions on the outskirts of the city are not as strict as in the center of Moscow.

Cultural events canceled in Russia

The concert hall belongs to the group of companies owned by the Azerbaijani-Russian construction tycoon and oligarch Aras Agalarov and his son Emin, a businessman and singer. There were rumors when the Crocus opened that Aras Agalarov had built his son a stage.

In recent years, however, Emin Agalarov has put his pop career on hold and concentrated primarily on the development and marketing of Crocus City Hall. Over the years, internationally renowned bands have performed here: Scorpions, Smokie, Pet Shop Boys, Nazareth and A-ha, as well as Sting, Elton John, Thomas Anders, Vanessa May and many others. In 2013, Donald Trump even strayed onto the stage, as a special guest at the final of the Miss Universe competition. But those days of cosmopolitanism are long gone.

A look at the program at Crocus City Hall gives a good insight into the sensitivities of Russian society, which oscillates between denial of reality and resignation: Concerts by regime-compliant musicians alternate with entertainment blockbusters such as Japanese drum shows or women's stand-up comedy. Now all major events have been canceled, not only in the damaged Crocus City Hall, but throughout Russia. Theaters, cinemas and museums will remain closed for the time being.

Quand allez-vous visiter Montréal?

You guys coming to the UK soon?

When and where are you touring in Arizona !

I wanted to share this with you because if this was happening to my fans, I’d want to know.

I bought 5 tickets to June 24th concert in Ridgefield, Wa on Groupon. I planned on taking my 79yr old mother in law and 65yr old mother as a Mothers Day gift. Four generations total to celebrate.

I went today to double check start time today for TOMORROW’S concert and my tix had been canceled!

Groupon said the merchant LiveOn canceled for unavailability. I went to find their number and they are still selling tix today on their site. I was not given any kind of notification from LiveOn or Groupon that these were canceled.

This seems so ethically wrong and just bad business!

So disappointed I will be unable to take my family to a much anticipated event that we took off work for and been planning for a couple months.
