My first post on this fandom, and it's an early game weapon. Great. Let's begin.

The Aurora Staff is a Crimson Isle weapon dropped from Kuudra. It's probably supposed to have a Combat 24 Requirement but for some reason it doesn't. After some testing, it's a superb early game weapon out of dungeons.

Let's see how good it is. First with enchants

Enchantments

Sharpness or Smite?

Sharpness only buffs melee damage so Smite I guess

First Strike or Triple Strike?

Aurora Staff has this annoying 1 second cooldown so use First Strike in hopes of one-shotting your target.

Prosecute or Execute?

Prosecute buffs based on the health the enemy has, while execute does the same but with missing health. We want to one shot the target so we use Prosecute

Other Enchants

Just get all the other enchants, Ender Slayer would be really good.

Of course get Heroic on your Staff because the intelligence scaling.

On your armour get Wise if you're poor, Necrotic for decent budgets, and Loving on Chestplate if you're really rich for that intelligence and ability damage.

For your Accessory Bag use Sighted, Bizarre is way too expensive and end-game.

Aurora Armor would be ideal, but because this guide is directed to Early Game players, I would recommend any wise or necrotic armour, maybe Wise Dragon.

Let's do some testing!

I will test different armour for different damage. Because this guide is directed towards early game players, I will try my best to imitate the stats of an early game player.

I have 175 Magic Power, set on Sighted.

I'm too poor to get Necrotic at the moment, am gonna mine for money soon

I effing do 91,137 damage with no effing armor. I could one-shot zealot bruisers already bruh

Full Wise Glacite

Glacite because it's a good early game set, and with Wise.

2/4 Base Aurora + Glacite Chestplate + Dark Goggles

Aurora Chestplate is so overpriced at the moment and I'm waiting for the prices to die down. 5 Star Dark Goggles is only like 100k craft cost.

Completely Cracked considering the full set only costed me like 1 million coins and the weapon is 500k.

I won't test Storm because A. I'm too poor and B. This guide is directed to early game players so there's no point in testing Storm.

Around 1,500,000 coins for 200k damage outside of dungeons. The aurora staff is completely cracked, the only thing limiting it being the 1 second cooldown.

And guess what? It only uses 10 mana.....

Ten mana for so much damage.

It's the cost of a Wise Dragon Set, a quarter the mana cost of Dreadlord, and like 50x more damage. The cooldown is annoying though.

Unfortunately in dungeons it lacks EHP, Aurora not being able to be dungeonized, I guess higher tiers would be nice I should do some kuudra for that.

Here are my other stats for reference:

Foraging 20

82 Base Strength

1,612 Mana when Holding Staff (1,262 not holding)

200 Soulflow Mana (doesn't affect ability damage I think, someone clarify please)

I hope this guide could help some aspiring Out-of-dungeon mages.

Aurora Armour tests were done with no stacks and the wrong runic attunement.

With the right attunement and 9 stacks (no ten cuz boom boom) I can do 231,946 Damage. And it gets crazier with Ender Slayer in the end.

Also note that Smite 5 applies in these tests, I tested them on the Graveyard Zombies.

In the end with the aurora setup I can do like 246,468 damage with no attunement and stacks. 290,832 with 9 stacks

Also beware of possible nerfs, the Aurora Staff should have a Combat 24 Requirement, but it doesn't. Something FOT-like could happen to it.

Bro aurora staff is essentially just a better mage beam, mage is basically meant to clear, not try and deal damage.

Also, the aurora staff's damage relies on being really close to the enemy, and that isn't exactly ideal since mages are incredibly squishy, and being in the enemy's face will result in you dying.

Compare this to the Dreadlord Sword:

Dreadlord Sword: practically has better AOE, is 1 billion times cheaper, the requirements are extremely low, and yes, it costs 5x more mana, but who cares?

50 mana is literally nothing.

Aurora Staff: has bad damage if you are a mile away from the enemy, deals basically no AOE, and costs 500k.

No one cares if you deal more damage, as long as you can one shot enemies, you are doing your job well, as I said, mage is not a damage dealer, it is meant to CLEAR.

Aurora Staff isn't overlooked, it's just straight up BAD.

If you want to deal damage just play berserk or archer, you would do it way better playing berserk or archer instead of just doing this.

@SandierBundleJujuNon he specifically said it’s good for out of dungeons, not in dungeons

I mean bur what are ur skills tho u could have like alchemy 50 and enchanting 60 for %800000000 scaling that no early game player would have

@TheSkyblockWizard

Enchanting 28 and Alchemy 14. Not that good if you ask me, and very early game. time to get it up in derpy brrrr

@SandierBundleJujuNon

Hate without reading the post? I think I mentioned out of dungeons at least twice.

Bout the point on the range, I'm still testing to find the range and the multipliers, but it works at around 20 blocks away. Damage-Range seems to be exponential decay.

Dont really wanna ping gamemaster but thanks if you read this for coming in to my defense

Bro this is amazing for early gamers, it opens up the realm of slayers and zealot farming, until they get to combat 24, after which they are safe. you can one shot bruisers and take on revenants with wise drag and goggles. late and mid game? yes there are better weapons, but this is dirt cheap and insane value for early gamers.

What do you think?

Minnesota Aurora play to 1-1 draw with Chicago City SC

C HICAGO – Kaylie Chambers scored in her first game with the Aurora to help the team remain undefeated through four games this season, with a 1-1 draw against Chicago City SC on Sunday.

Chambers' tying goal for the Aurora (2-0-2) came in the 28th minute. Saige Wimes frustrated a Chicago player to draw a foul and yellow card. Giada Zhou took the free kick and served a ball straight to the head of Chambers, who will be a junior midfielder at Utah State this fall and was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2023.

Chicago City (3-0-1), last year's Heartland Division champion, opened up the scoring in the ninth minute, charging into the box. Aurora goalkeeper Taylor Kane came up to make a play, but she was called for a foul. Sophia Jaime converted a penalty kick to give Chicago an early 1-0 lead.

Neither team scored after Chambers' goal, although the Aurora had their chances. Zhou sent a free kick over the bar after Chicago City's Eva Pattison received a yellow card in the 68th minute. In the closing minutes, the Aurora also hit the goal post as they sent a flurry of shots at the net that failed to put them ahead. Instead, they earned their second draw in three games after previously not playing to a tie since the first game in team history in 2022.

The Aurora return home to face Rochester FC on Thursday night at TCO Stadium.

Russia’s Best Locations for the Northern Lights

Home / Russia Travel Tips & Essential Advice / Russia’s Best Locations for the Northern Lights

Only eight countries reach north above the Arctic Circle, but without a doubt, Russia reigns supreme. While this means freezing winters with uninterrupted nights that linger for weeks, it’s also the setting for one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring spectacles – the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.

Here are 6 of the top unique destinations to view the northern lights in Russia: View map

Table of Contents

1. Murmansk, Kola Peninsula

Murmansk , in the extreme north-west near Finland, enjoys over 40 days of uninterrupted night, making it one of the world’s premier destinations for the Aurora Borealis, and with over 300,000 residents you can enjoy all the cosmopolitan comforts of civilisation amidst the serenity of the Arctic.

Northern Lights Murmansk tour Russia Kola Peninsula icebreaker Lenin

You can get to Murmansk by train (30h) or flight (2h) from Moscow or St Petersburg, what makes this region is easiest to get in order to experience the Northern Lights from late August to May, with the condition that the night temperature is below -10 ° C, so plan your trip for mid-September to mid-April.

The Northern Lights is a poorly predicted phenomenon and depends on the magnetic activity of the Sun. In other words, you have to wait and literally “hunt” it, which means it’s worth a week or more to go. You can diversify your vacation in the Kola Peninsula by skiing in the Khibiny Mountains or dog sledding in Kirovsk.

Check out this snippet of what to see on a tour in Murmansk, hunting the northern lights:

2. Arkhangelsk

There is a general rule for observing the Northern Lights in Arkhangelsk region – the heart of Russian North – the further from the large populated areas, the brighter the “dance of the sky” is. Severodvinsk city is where you’d like to go for the Aurora Borealis hunting from mid-September to mid-April. The radiance of the lights here is distinguished by a green shade and specific flicker. Aurora borealis lasts here from 10 minutes to several days. Well, while waiting for the sky to blossom, you may visit the open-air museum of wooden architecture “Malye Korely”.

The flight from Moscow to Arkhangelsk will take two hours, a journey by train – about 22 h.

3. Naryan-Mar

This forgotten northern outpost lost prominence when easier routes across Siberia opened through the Ural mountains, leaving it a preserved vestige of Nenets culture . Enjoy learning myths, legends, and indigenous lore (like not whistling during the northern lights) in a truly unique journey through Russia’s heartland.

Northern lights green Russia

The Aurora Borealis in the polar Naryan-Mar is very beautiful, it consists of several colours and is accompanied by a flicker, that turns the night sky into a fairy tale. The best time for observation is the season from November to March. This natural phenomenon is observed usually with a sharp change of weather. The flight to Naryan-Mar from Moscow takes slightly less than three hours.

4. Novaya Zemlya

Only reachable by special permit, this northern archipelago is one of the most extreme locations to view the northern lights. Watch the glow of lights bathe herds of reindeer in subtle greens as they stroll on islands stranded in a frozen sea during the polar night. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

5. Taimyr Peninsula

Taimyr is called “the edge of the cold”, because the duration of winter here is from 235 days in the south, up to 285 days in the north of the peninsula. The climate is extremely stiff: in winter it’s from -40 ° C and to -60 ° C. Taimyr is also known as the land of rare amazing northern lights.

Taimyr northern lights

You can get to the peninsula by plane from Moscow to Norilsk (4h), and then to Dixon, Igarka or Khatanga villages by car. These villages are actually renowned for its bright white light show seen only during summer. But don’t get too excited – the year-round high never gets above +5C (43 F), so don’t forget to pack your coat.

The only “city” in the world located north of Arctic Circle, Salekhard in Yamal region thrives on the northern lights. Known for a specific tint of green local Nenets people call “Nger Harp – the light of the dead,” Salekhard is a city with its own unique connection to the winter light show.   The Nenets are the native people of the Yamal , and one of the largest native communities in Russia also called ‘Samoyeds’ – a nomadic people who used to live by herding reindeer and are close to the Scandinavia’s Sami (or ‘Lapps’).

Yamal Nenets reindeer migration Siberia

If you spend a week out in the tundra or taiga at a nomad camp of Nenets, then you are likely to see the Northern Lights. In general, they can be viewed from August until April, but are most common from November to March and best of all in January and February, when nights are long and dark and colder temperatures bring about multi-coloured Northern Lights, rather than the green ones that appear when it’s “warmer”. To get to Salekhard you can by train from Moscow (45h) or by direct flight (2h).

In Russia, the Northern Lights can be seen even in the more southern areas – in, for example, Karelia, Valdai, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

Northern Lights in comfort

See the Northern Lights in Russia, on a luxury train. This compelling 10-day itinerary offers a unique contrast between two of Russia’s most majestic cities and the remote, yet charming communities deep within the Russian and Norwegian Arctic Circle. Commencing in St. Petersburg, we visit some of the city’s most prominent historical and cultural sites before embarking on this remarkable Arctic adventure.

Below are our small group and private tours in the region for hunting Northern Lights:

Ukraine-Russia war latest: Moscow warns US of 'fatal consequences'; Russia suffers more than 1,000 casualties in 24 hours, Ukraine claims

Ukraine's grid operator has imposed daily energy restrictions across the country after critical infrastructure was damaged in Russian attacks. Meanwhile, one person has been killed and others injured in a strike on a recreation centre in the Kharkiv region.

The Institute For The Study Of War (ISW) has said allowing Ukraine to use Western air defence systems against targets in Russia is crucial to if Kyiv is going to repel Russian glide bomb and missile strikes against Kharkiv.

Following President Biden's partial lifting of restrictions on how Ukraine can use military supplies sent by the US, Kyiv can now use American weapons to strike inside Russia.

Eleven other Western countries have also recently partially or completely lifted restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western-provided weapons to strike military targets in Russian territory.

"These policy changes will allow Ukrainian forces to use Western-provided systems to strike Russian firing and staging areas in Russia's border areas and airspace," according to the ISW.

"Ukrainian officials reported that Ukrainian forces downed a number of Russian military aircraft in February 2024, many of which were conducting glide bomb strikes in the Avdiivka direction.

"Ukrainian forces' ability to down Russian military aircraft in a frontline area indicates that Ukrainian forces will likely be able to replicate the same effects with both Ukrainian and Western-provided systems to protect northern Kharkiv Oblast and Kharkiv City from Russian glide bomb strikes launched from Russian airspace. "

President Zelenskyy has previously said that Russian forces would not be able to seize Kharkiv City if Ukrainian forces received two Patriot air defence systems to deploy to the region.

According to the ISW, deployment of these defence systems would have limited effectiveness, were they not able to strike targets in Russian airspace.

Around 1.5 million men have registered for conscription in Ukraine, the defence ministry has said.

After the new law on mobilisation came into force on 18 May, military-aged men were given 60 days to update their personal data so that the state could locate them.

According to a video posted on the ministry's YouTube channel, the majority of the updates were done on the new Reserve+ online app.

In addition to using the app, Ukrainians can update their data in person at public service centres or enlistment offices.

The ministry added that 14,000 men living abroad across 124 countries had updated their credentials.

Ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, Britain's defence chief Admiral Sir Tony Radakin spoke about the comparisons made between the Second World War and the conflict in Ukraine.

He told Sky News he is confident we are not heading towards another world war and has every faith Ukraine would prevail in its fight.

Admiral Radakin added that by the end of June, 500,000 Russians would have died or been injured in the conflict.

Kazan's airport has imposed temporary flight restrictions for safety reasons today, Russia's aviation watchdog has said.

This is usually done in expectation of Ukrainian drone attacks.

Kazan is the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan and is located about 500 miles east of Moscow.

The region has been repeatedly attacked by drones in recent  months, an indication that Ukraine has dramatically improved its ability to strike deep within Russian territory.

Ukraine has claimed the Russian military has suffered 1,270 casualties in the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian general staff said on Monday.

If that toll, released by the Ukrainian general staff this morning, is correct, it would be one of the highest daily Russian casualty figures since the war began.

Kyiv has regularly claimed that Moscow's forces have lost more than 1,000 men a day since Russia launched a new offensive in the Kharkiv region last month.

The Kharkiv region, which borders Russia, and Kharkiv city, the administrative centre of the region, have been battered nearly daily, since the attacks intensified.

The news comes on the heels of last week's decision by President Joe Biden to approve the use of US supplied weapons to hit targets inside Russia that were involved in attacks on Ukraine's Kharkiv region.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Donald Trump risks being a "loser president" if he retakes the White House and imposes a bad peace deal on Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president said he had "no strategy yet" for what to do if Trump wins in November and that Boris Johnson had approached the Republican on his behalf, according to The Guardian.

He said if Trump were re-elected, the Republican could impose a crushing defeat on Ukraine, should he so chose.

It's widely thought Trump may end US military support for Ukraine if he gets into the White House.

"Ukraine, barehanded, without weapons, will not be able to fight a multimillion [Russian] army," Mr Zelenskyy told the paper.

"Does he want to become a loser president?" he said.

"A ceasefire is a trap," he added, saying that after a break in hostilities Vladimir Putin would "go further" and make Trump look "very weak" in the eyes of the world.

Donald Trump has previously claimed he could "end the war in 24 hours".

We're getting more warnings from Russia to the US now.

The foreign ministry told the US not to make any "mistakes that may have fatal consequences" with regards to allowing Ukraine to strike targets on Russian soil, the Interfax news agency reported.

It comes after the foreign ministry earlier warned that Ukraine using Patriot air defence systems in Russia would escalate the conflict.

Beijing has hit back at Volodymyr Zelenskyy after he accused the country of helping Russia disrupt a global peace conference in Switzerland.

China has said it would not be attending the summit because Russia would not be taking part alongside Ukraine.

The Chinese foreign ministry said it believes all efforts should be recognised by all in supporting peace measures around the Russia-Ukraine war.

Beijing has never "fanned fire or fuelled the flames", said ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, addressing a question on the peace summit.

She added that there was "no situation of China exerting pressure on other countries".

In the same press conference, Ms Mao also said China wanted to "deepen oil and gas cooperation with Russia".

Yesterday, speaking at the Shangri-La defence forum in Singapore, Asia's premier security conference, Mr Zelenskyy said China is pressuring other countries and their leaders not to attend the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, scheduled for 15-16 June.

"Russia, using Chinese influence in the region, using Chinese diplomats also, does everything to disrupt the peace summit," he said.

"Regrettably this is unfortunate that such a big independent powerful country as China is an instrument in the hands of Putin."

Russia has said discussions over allowing Ukraine to use Patriot MIM-104 air defence systems over Russian territory show the West is on a "path of escalation".

The state-run TASS news agency cited Moscow's foreign ministry as making the remarks today.

"Russia will take all measures to thwart such threats," the ministry added.

In April, the Pentagon said it would "rush" Patriot air defence missiles and artillery ammunition to Ukraine as part of its new $6bn military aid package.

However, Patriot systems for launching the missiles will not be sent, Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said at the time.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been forthright in saying the weapons are needed urgently and their absence is costing Ukrainian lives.

"Patriot" stands for "Phased Array Tracking Radar to Intercept on Target" and is a long-range, all-altitude, all-weather air defence system designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft.

The American-made missiles are produced by Raytheon in Massachusetts and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Florida.

The system is used by the US and some of its allies, including Germany, Greece, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Poland, Sweden, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Romania, Spain, and Taiwan.

Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto has said his country has not yet decided whether to join a global peace summit aimed at helping to end the war in Ukraine.

He said that while he respected efforts by Switzerland to achieve peace, he doubted whether the summit made sense if "there aren't both parties to the war" present.

Russia will not attend the summit, which is being held later this month.

Hungary has repeatedly opposed Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU, sanctions on Russia, undermined Western aid efforts for Ukraine, and maintained close relations with Moscow throughout the full-scale war.

In mid-May, it vetoed a Council of Europe resolution to officially recognise and support Volodymyr Zelenskyy's 10-point peace formula.

"If both sides of the war are not represented, I think it is a legitimate question whether the whole summit makes sense in terms of the ultimate goal, which is to seek peace," Mr Szijjarto said.

"We [Hungary] believe that the peace summit has real meaning and gives the greatest hope for peace if both sides are at the table."

The Aurora Staff is a Mage-based weapon. It has different "modes", each representing a different rune. Because of this, it is meant to be used with Aurora Armor, as it allows you to see the runic affinity of mobs. 12. A new overpowered feature of the Aurora Staff

I used 1/2 crimson 1/2 Aurora, and tested with the Aurora staff. I don't know if it is intentional, but the tiered bonus of the crimson armor, which says 'melee kills', also works with the Aurora staff. So every kill with the Aurora staff grants 1 Dominus stack, and at 10 Dominus stacks, it effectively has a 'crowd control' ability.
