Covid-19 Guidelines for Travelling to Vietnam

Foreigners and Indians travelling to Vietnam should follow the prescribed COVID-19 guidelines:

Travellers must test negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours before arrival and will be required to self-monitor for another 7 days after the quarantine period.
Foreign employees visiting Vietnam should have a sponsor who can assist in the paperwork and prepare the traveller for a mandatory 14-day quarantine on arrival in Vietnam.
Travellers coming from countries that have detected the Omicron variant will have to undergo a quick test for COVID-19 before boarding and when they arrive in Vietnam at their own cost.
Vietnam has eased the quarantine rules for fully vaccinated international tourists from January 1, 2022. Arrivals with negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results will need to self-quarantine at home or their accommodation for three days on entering Vietnam. Two RT-PCR tests will be conducted on the first and third day of entry. If the result is negative, the traveller will still have to monitor their health for the next 11 days.
From March 7, 2022, anyone visiting Vietnam will have to submit a health declaration upon arrival. Passengers can fill out the form at the airport.

For the most part, long-distance and inter-regional trains are very comfortable. They often provide more legroom than on planes, air-conditioning, snack bars or vending machines, power outlets and occasionally even wi-fi.

Regional and metropolitan trains that cover shorter distances are a bit more basic, and because they're often filled with locals travelling for work or a weekend away, your group may need to stand for a short time. But what they lack in luxury, they make up for with convenience and great views.

At times, we do use local/regional trains as transport, which tend to move at a more leisurely pace and make lots of stops.

How fit must I be to participate in an Intrepid rail trip?

Rail trips can be enjoyed by just about anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, and good general mobility will play a big part in making your trip more enjoyable.

You are expected to be able to carry your own bags for up to 30 minutes and lift them onto the train. Transport hubs may be crowded, and elevators aren't always available, so you'll need to be comfortable handling your belongings on stairs as you navigate from platform to platform.

While it's very likely that the Shinkansen in Japan will depart and arrive exactly on time, trains in Italy may take a more flexible approach when it comes to timekeeping. Delays are often minimal, but in the case of a longer delay, there's not much a deck of cards and a few local snacks can't fix.
