Do I need a visa for the UAE?

You’ll find information about visas below. Use our quick visa search tool to see if you need a visa and the passport requirements for visiting the UAE.

UAE visa on arrival

Preapproved uae visas, prearranged uae visas, sponsoring someone to visit the uae, contact information, 30-day visit eligibility.

If you are a passport holder of the below country or territory, no advance visa arrangements are required to visit the UAE. Simply disembark your flight at Dubai International and proceed to immigration, where your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit visa free of charge.

90-day visit eligibility

If you are a passport holder of one of the below countries or territories, your passport will be stamped with a multiple entry 90-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 90 days in total. Citizens of the below European countries are also entitled to apply for a pre-arranged visit visa if their 90-day visa on arrival has been fully utilized.

180-day visit eligibility

If you hold a Mexican passport you’re eligible for a multiple entry 180-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 180 days in total.

Dubai immigration procedures

As an added security measure, Immigration Authorities at Dubai International are now conducting random eye screening for visitors to Dubai.

Visitors asked to proceed for eye screening are required to present a hard copy of their visa or a printed version of the visa number confirmation page at the screening counter. If you do not have a copy with you, a charge of AED 30 per copy applies - payable only in AED.

Important information

Before you travel to the UAE, please check your visa requirements and make sure you have a valid visa if needed, or if your passport needs to be valid for 6 months. Holders of non-standard passports and travel documents may also have different entry requirements: find out if you need to apply for a visa and other passport requirements.

As of 29 April 2016, GCC residence permit holders will need to apply for a UAE visa before arriving in Dubai.

New visit entry permit to the UAE for Indian nationals

From 7 January 2024, eligible Indian nationals with a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months can obtain a single entry, 14-day visa on arrival. A fee of USD 63 applies.

• Indian passport holder with USA visa valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with USA green card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with UK residence card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with EU residence card from the following countries valid for a minimum of six months

How and where to apply for a pre-approved UAE visa

Eligible Indian nationals can apply for their UAE entry permit on emirates.com through Manage your booking .

• For Extension, Original passport and ticket copy required.
• Extensions can be made at the airport office only.

Required applicant documents.

• Colour photograph of applicant
• Colour copy of applicant's passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months
• You can download the application form (available at all Emirates Ticketing Offices) in  Arabic (Opens a PDF in a new tab)  or English (Opens a PDF in a new tab)  depending on the applicant’s nationality.
• A copy of your Emirates Airline ticket, or codeshare flight that starts with the code “EK”, and the ticket number should start with “176”.
• Proof of relationship if applying for family member - birth certificate, marriage certificate and family book
• All Documents to be submitted as hard copy
• Additional documents may be required by the authorities.

Rules and conditions

• Sponsor or applicant will be responsible for a visitor overstay and overstay fines.
• A Refundable deposit of AED 1000 for friend. Sponsor must claim the deposit within a maximum of 2 years from the application submission date.
• Refund of visa fee before processing of an application, AED 50 will be deducted on refund process.
• Visa fees must be paid upon application.
• Additional visa processing fees may apply.
• Visa fees are non-refundable.
• The ticket is non-refundable if the visa has been issued and utilized.
• Visa processing time is approximately 3 to 4 working days.
• Entry into the UAE is subject to immigration approval.
• All visas are valid to enter Dubai for 60 days from the date of issue, except the 96-hour and 48-hour visas, which are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

How and where to apply for your prearranged UAE visa

• Apply online through Manage your booking
• 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas are valid for travel with Emirates tickets outbound from Dubai. You can only apply for a transit visa online or at the Emirates Commercial Visa APT office at Dubai International airport Terminal 3.

Nationals of countries requiring a prearranged UAE visa can now apply and pay for their visas online through emirates.com.

If you are travelling to or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates, you can submit an application and receive your UAE visa entirely online – without having to submit your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through our Manage your booking after you book your Emirates flight. VFS processing fees apply. For more information please visit VFS Global.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals of many countries around the world. Find out if you can apply for a UAE visa. Applicants' passports must have at least six months' validity as of their date of travel to Dubai, and must be machine readable passports – handwritten passports are not accepted.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued and the flight itinerary already includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), and these flights must be Emirates flights. Note that any itineraries including any flights to or from Dubai on other carriers are not eligible for the online visa service.

A minimum of four international working days prior to arrival in Dubai is required, however Emirates does recommend that online applications are made as early as possible.

Types of UAE Visit Visa for Indians

• Reasons your Visit Visa to UAE get Rejected

14 Days visa-on-arrival (Single Entry)

The validity of this visa is 14 days from the date it is issued. You can extend it once for 14 days before its expiry date because there is no grace period. The visa is ideal for any India attending a conference or meeting in UAE for a few days.

30 Days Visit Visa (Single Entry)

The validity of this visa is 30 days plus 10 days grace period from the date it is issued. You can extend it twice for 30 days. You can stay in UAE for 90 days using the 30 days visit visa.

90 Days Visit Visa (Single Entry)

The validity of this visa is 90 dates from the date it is issued. It is best suited for individuals who want to stay in UAE for up to 3 months.

After the visa expiry date, you are given 10 days grace period to extend the visa or exit the country. You can extend this visa twice for 30 days+20 days, which gives you 150 days to live in the UAE.

30 Days Visit Visa (Multiple Entry)

The validity of this visa is 30 days and allows multiple entries to UAE within 30 days. There is no grace period after the visa expires, and you cannot extend this visa.

90 Days Visit Visa (Multiple Entry)

The validity of this visa is 90 days and allows one to enter UAE multiple times within the 90 days. You cannot extend this visa, and there is no grace period after it has expired.

The options you have are applying inside the country long term multiple Entry visa or get a new 90 days multiple entry visa through Airport to Airport visa change (A2A visa renewal)

Arabiers have simplified the application for a UAE Visit Visa for Indians. The following are the steps to follow;

Use a scanner to make clear colour copies of your passport and send them to our WhatsApp along with your referee's residence visa page and your photo with a white background.

Pay via your bank, visit our office or pay via a payment link.

After making the payment, you will receive your visa via WhatsApp within 24 to 48 hours.

The following are the documents you need to present when applying for a UAE visit visa for Indians :

• Coloured copy of the passport's name page, personal information, expiration date, and cover page.
• One coloured picture the size of a passport.
• If any kids are travelling with their birth certificates,
• If you have a family member or friend in the UAE, a photo of their UAE work visa page and a confirmed flight back to your home country.

You can also get travel insurance if you travel to the UAE on a visit visa. Here's how much it costs:

Any UAE visit visa you get, there are details when it expires. If you get the 30/90 days visa, you are given 10 days grace period, but for the multiple entry visa and 14 days, there is no grace period.

When you stay behold the days indicated on the visa, you are considered to have overstayed in UAE , and the implication is you have to pay a fine. The fines you will pay are broken down as follows;

• If you are a female under 18 travelling alone, your visa application may be delayed or denied due to suspicions of human trafficking.
• Your visa application may be rejected if you have a criminal history, commit fraud, or engage in any other wrongdoing in the UAE or India.
• If you previously had a UAE residence visa and left the country without cancelling the visa. Before awarding you a new tourist visa, the Public Relations Officer must get it revoked for you.
• If the UAE immigration rejects or delays your application for a Dubai visa because the scanned copies of your passport are illegible.
• Your visa may be denied if your passport shows you as a non-white collar professional, such as a worker, farmer, etc.
• Your application may be rejected or delayed if there are mistakes in the name, passport number, date of birth, or issuance and expiration dates.

Will I get a visa if my passport is to expire soon?

NO, your application for a UAE visa will be rejected if the passport is not valid at least 6 months before you want to visit UAE.

What do I do if I want to renew my visit visa?

UAE visit visa is valid for a period that falls anywhere between 30 and 90 days. Should it become necessary to renew the visa, the applicant can contact the Arabiers to apply for the extension.

What would happen if I extended my stay beyond the validity of my visa?

When you stay behold the visa validity, you are considered to have overstayed and are subject to hefty fines. In addition, you might eventually be barred from entering the country.

Duration Of Stay : 48 Hours

48 Hours Visa: This Visa is valid only for 48 hours stay (As per flight schedule - Arrival/departure time in Dubai). This is Single Entry visa. Ideal for travellers to the UAE who plan to stay for a period of less than 48 Hours. This type of Visa is preferred by travellers having business meetings or taking stopovers en route to their onward journey. The entry validity of the visa is for 30 days from the date of issue.

• Kindly Note: The above visa is valid for a period of 30 days from the date of issue.

Express Visa Fees*

(Duration of stay: 48 hours, Visa fees inclusive of service charge and tax)

• Selection / Determination of a visa category is on the basis of the airline ticket itinerary

Please Note: The cancellation charge per visa is 2550 (INR). Cancellation request can be raised with the application centre where you have submitted the visa application and for applications that are approved.

• Visa fee once paid remains non-refundable under any circumstances
• Visa Application form duly filled**

Instructions: The form needs to be filled offline. You are required to fill in all the details as mentioned in the form. Submit it with the mandatory documents at your nearest visa application centre. To Download a Form:

Normal Visa Processing Time: 3 – 4 working days from the date of submission (Excluding Saturday,Sunday and any UAE Holiday) Normal Visa Submission Time: Applications need to be submitted in between 09:30am to 05:30pm. Express Visa Processing Time: 36 hours from the time of submission (Excluding Saturday,Sunday and any UAE Holiday) Express Visa Submission Time: Applications need to be submitted in between 09:30am to 12:00 noon.

Note: Applicants can qualify from any one of the below criteria for UAE visa application.

Supporting documents required in case of applicant qualifying under Travel record criteria:

• Visa application form duly filled and signed along with applicants coloured photograph
• Original passport for verification (valid for 6 months from the date of travel) + coloured photocopy (First two pages, Last two pages, observation Page - if any, valid travel records - if any)
• Onward Confirmed Emirates airline ticket copy.
• Invitation letter if any, from the host company in the UAE
• For female applicants and students who are above 18 years and travelling alone require NOC from parents / husband, Photo ID of parents/ husband. Coloured copy of the host passport / residence visa
• Applicable visa fees in CASH / DD / CREDIT CARD

Applicants not qualifying as per Criteria I (Travel Record) are required to submit either last 2 Years Form 16 or last 2 Years Income Tax return with a minimum gross income from business, profession or employment, which should exceed INR 2 lakhs Per annum.

Investments amounting to INR 5 Lakhs or above, in form of fixed deposits in Banks or Post Office.

• Investments to be a year prior from the date of application with a validity of more than 12 months, Investments in Co-operative Banks or Societies are not acceptable.

In some case Security Deposit of USD 1000 (Refundable upon return and after producing the entry & exit stamp in UAE)

Supporting documents required in case of applicant qualifying under Economical status criteria:

• Original + Photocopy of Income Tax returns, Salary slips of the last 6 months, Photo copy of Pan Card OR Original + Photocopy of Fixed Deposit Receipt
• Original passport for verification (valid for 6 months from the date of travel) + coloured photocopy ( First two pages, Last two pages, Observation Page - if any, Valid travel records - if any)
• Invitation letter if any, from the host company in the UAE.
• For female applicants and students who are above 18 years and travelling alone require NOC from parents / husband, Photo ID of parents/ husband. Copy of the host passport / residence visa

Spouse and children below 21 years of age AND / OR parents above 60 years of age can be invited.

Supporting documents required:

• Invitation letter, passport copy and Valid residence visa copy of the host in UAE
• Original passport for verification (valid for 6 months from the date of travel) + coloured photocopy (First two pages, Last two pages, Observation Page - if any, Valid travel records - if any)
• Invitation Letter if any, from the host company in the UAE

In case of the spouse name not endorsed on the passport:

• Marriage Certificate / Notarised Affidavit on an INR 100/- stamp paper
• Newly married couples traveling immediately after marriage are required to submit NOC from parents with photo id proof, Wedding card and Marriage photograph of the couple

Important Information:

• Selection / determination of a visa category are on the basis of airline ticket itinerary
• UAE visa applications for diplomatic Passport holders:

As per the directive of UAE Immigrations, UAE visa applications for Diplomatic Passport holders will no longer be accepted at DVPC. All Diplomatic passport holders are now required to apply through the UAE Embassy only.

Now that you are ready with all your documents, form and other requirements, applicants can now visit the nearest visa application centre to apply for their visa to UAE.

• Ensure coloured photos are as per specifications Size 4.3 cms x 5.5 cms preferably white background and matt finish.
• Attach all supporting documents required as per checklist. Make sure your application is complete. Incomplete applications are not accepted.

Duration Of Stay : 96 Hours

96 Hours Visa: This Visa is valid only for 96 hours stay (Single Entry, including the date of entry and exit) and is ideal for travellers to the UAE who plan to stay for a period of less than 4 days. This type of Visa is preferred by travellers having business meetings, point to point travel or taking stopovers en route to their onward journey. The entry validity of the visa is for 30 days from the date of issue.

• Return or onward confirmed Emirates airline ticket copy. **

As per the directive of UAE Immigrations, UAE visa applications for Diplomatic Passport holders will no longer be accepted at. All Diplomatic passport holders are now required to apply through the UAE Embassy only.

Duration Of Stay : 30 Days

Short Term Visit Single Entry – Tourist : The entry validity for all types of tourist visa is 58 days from the date of issue (Valid untill date mentioned on visa). After entry in Dubai stay validity of visa can be extended thrice for 30days each. Extension fee is AED 850 each time.

Official Tour for Meetings / Seminars / Exhibitions : Passenger’s Passport copy / Confirmed EK Ticket / Hotel confirmation / Company covering letter / Host company invitation letter or Host Resident permit along with the passport copy.

Personal : ( If the purpose of visit is to meet family or close relatives ). Passport copy / Confirm EK Ticket / Host passport copy / Host Resident page / Host covering letter or guarantee letter / Relationship proof.

Tourism or property : Passport copy / Confirmed EK Ticket / Confirm Hotel booking or Property Tenancy contract and Property papers.

Applicant needs to provide a covering letter mentioning the reason of travel, stay & host details and self-guarantee of exiting Dubai within the visa validity period. Two (02) local contact details (who stays in different address) shall also needs to be mentioned in the same letter and supported by their Photo id cum Address proof.

Apart from the above documents, immigration may ask for additional documents as and when deemed required by them.

Preapprovals from immigration may be required for unaccompanied young or woman applicants travelling alone. Applications would be accepted based on approval being received.

60 days Visit Visa : The entry validity for all types of tourist visa is 58 days from the date of issue (Valid untill date mentioned on visa). After entry in Dubai stay validity of visa can be extended twice for 30days each. Extension fee is AED 850 each time.

Residents, tourists and job-seekers are among those who will benefit as the UAE rolled out its largest set of residence visa and entry reforms. The Advanced Visa System was implemented on October 4.

According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the new scheme includes more than 15 types of visas, such as those for tourists, job-seekers, Golden and Green residencies and entry permits for truck drivers through land ports.

This guide explains the different visas, what has changed, targeted categories and approximate cost (fees have been calculated as per information available on the ICP and GDRFA websites; and inputs from typing centre agents and experts. They may vary.)

This five-year visa targets skilled employees, freelancers and investors. The self-sponsored residency allows holders to sponsor their spouses, children and first-degree relatives.

>> Freelancers need a permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. They need proof of income (minimum Dh360,000 annually over last two years), or prove financial solvency throughout their stay in the UAE.

>> Skilled employees need to be classified in the first, second or third occupational level as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) and have a minimum monthly salary of Dh15,000.

Total cost: Dh3,175 (Approximate cost includes medical testing, visa and Emirates ID fees)

Job exploration visa

Single-entry permit targets young talents and skilled professionals. It is issued for 60, 90 or 120 days. The visa is granted to those classified in the first, second or third skill level as per Mohre. Fresh graduates from the best 500 universities in the world can apply as well, and candidates should have earned at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

Total cost including Dh1,025 security deposit:

• 60 days: Dh1,495
• 90 days: Dh1,655
• 120 days: Dh1,815

Business entry visa

Single-entry visa is issued for 60, 90 or 120 days. It does not require a sponsor or host and encourages investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE.

Total cost including security deposit:

5-year multi-entry tourist visa for all nationalities

Holders of this visa will be able to stay in the UAE for up to 90 continuous days, and it may be extended for a similar period. The entire period of stay should not exceed 180 days in a year.

This visa requires proof of having a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies during a six-month period prior to submitting the application.

Cost: Dh650 (without insurance)

Golden Visa

>> Skilled professionals: Minimum monthly salary requirement reduced from Dh50,000 to Dh30,000

>> Investors: Property worth at least Dh2 million, even with a loan from specific local banks. Off-plan properties are allowed from approved local real estate companies

>> Main benefit: Staying outside the UAE for over six months won’t affect visa validity.

Cost: Dh4,625 (Approximate cost includes medical testing, visa and Emirates ID fees)

UAE flights: Indian airlines issue guidelines for visit visa holders travelling to Dubai

I n response to recent travel updates for visitors from India to UAE, a few Indian airlines have issued a set of guidelines for passengers.

The advisory, issued by airlines to travel agents in India and in UAE, states that “travellers should carry necessary documents when travelling from Indian cities to the UAE.”

An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed to Khaleej Times that they issued an advisory urging passengers to carry valid passports, return tickets, accommodation details, and financial proof.

The advisory stated that travellers from India must ensure their passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

“Visitors must have a confirmed return ticket, proof of confirmed hotel reservation, carry or have in their account Dh3,000 (approximately Rs68,000) for a 1-month visa and Dh5,000 for a longer stay, and additional documents of relatives or friends who are residents of the UAE,” the advisory stated.

Travel agents based in India and Dubai told Khaleej Times that they have received advisories from many airlines flying between the two countries.

“We have received circulars from SpiceJet, Air India, and other airlines who have issued such advisories so that travellers can be equipped with all the necessary documents and funds for ease in travel,” said Taha Siddique, owner of Siddique Travels.

According to a circular shared with the agents by SpiceJet, the airline warns the passengers to carry all the documents and that “failure to do so may lead to deportation.”

The advisory also stated that “passengers who do not have the required documents will be denied boarding on our flights at the departing airport and all related charges will be debited to the ticketing agency."

“We will have to bear the expenses of the return if our client is denied entry in the UAE airports. So we make sure that they have all the related documents before we book their tickets,” said Siddique.

According to travel agents, travellers are well aware of the situation and are carrying all the necessary documents.

“As many were not allowed to board the flights from India, or were sent back from the UAE airport, travellers are not taking any chance now and they are well prepared in advance,” said Deepak Kaushik, operations manager at ToursOnBoard.

According to agents, if a visitor is denied entry in the UAE, “it becomes the airline's responsibility to take the traveller back to his home country, and this is the reason that they are conducting rigorous checks before issuing a boarding pass,” said Bharath Aidasani, managing partner at Pluto Travels.

“Travellers at the check-in counters have their documents checked by airline executives. If travellers fail to produce the necessary documents, they may be sent back or asked to obtain the documents before boarding the flight,” said Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels.

Travelers must submit a health declaration 48 hours before travel and provide documents including a passport valid for at least one month post-departure, hotel reservation proof, return flight tickets, and evidence of sufficient funds.

3. Azerbaijan - This country blends unique history and picturesque landscapes. A visa can be obtained on arrival for a fee of Dh 92. Required documents include a valid passport, a copy of the UAE residence visa, proof of hotel and flight reservations, and two recent passport photos.

4. Armenia - Offers a visa-free entry for UAE nationals, while residents must present a UAE residence permit upon arrival.

5. Montenegro - Known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. UAE nationals enter without a visa, and residents can obtain a visa on arrival. Necessary documents include a passport valid for 6 months, UAE residency, health insurance, confirmed return tickets, and hotel reservations.

6. Seychelles - Famous for its luxury resorts and tropical forests, offers visa on arrival for UAE residents. Required documents include a valid passport, UAE residency, return ticket, confirmed hotel booking, and sufficient travel funds.

7. Malaysia - Known for its rainforests and cityscapes, allows UAE residents to visit for up to 90 days without an eVisa. Required documents include the original passport, return ticket, and proof of residence reservation.

8. Indonesia - Offers natural beauty from the beaches of Bali to the rainforests of Sumatra. UAE residents can obtain a visa on arrival with proper travel documents including original passport, UAE residency, return tickets, and residence confirmation.

9. Nepal - Offers breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. UAE residents receive a visa on arrival, needing an original valid passport and proof of travel and residency reservations.

Citizens of these countries do not require advance visa arrangements to enter the UAE and can obtain a visa upon arrival for 30 days with a 10-day grace period for extension.

90-day visa on arrival

Citizens of these countries do not require advance visa arrangements to enter the UAE and can obtain a visa upon arrival for 90 days:

Indian citizens

Indian citizens holding a normal passport and either

• a visit visa issued by the USA or
• a green card issued by the USA or
• a residence visa issued by the UK or
• a residence visa issued by the EU

can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days provided that the visas or the green card is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival into the UAE.

Pakistani Passport Latest Renewal Fee in UAE Dirham - June 2024

• The UAE provides tourist visas to foreign nationals like Pakistanis and Indians.
• Foreigners can get a single-entry tourist visa for 30 or 60 days in the UAE.
• The total visa amount may vary, as it can increase or decrease based on multiple factors.

Dubai: The UAE grants tourist or visit visas to foreign nationals, including Pakistanis and Indians, for varying durations to explore the Gulf nation.

Foreigners are issued a single-entry tourist visa for either 30 or 60 days for tourism purposes in the UAE. To obtain this visa, the sponsor or host in the UAE must be a tourism-related establishment and pay the required fee and financial security deposit.

UAE Visit Visa Requirements

One personal photo.

Copy of the passport.

Identity card for the country of origin for some nationalities (Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan).

Medical insurance is valid in the UAE.

A travel ticket to continue his journey or a ticket to leave the UAE.

Steps to Apply for the Visit Visa

The digital channels (GDRFA website and smart application):

• Login to the smart services system using a UAE pass or username.
• Search for your required service.
• Fill out the application information, where applicable.

UAE Visit Visa: Latest Fee

As of June 2024, the latest fee for a 30-day tourist visa stands at AED 200, while the fee for a 60-day visa stands at AED 300.
