Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Time Travel (And Why You Shouldn’t Do It!)

A common trick you'll want to avoid.

Disney Dreamlight Valley follows a daily schedule of events — depending on your day and the various timers running down using your system clock — different things will happen. Chests will appear daily. New quests will begin. Crops will grow. Lots of events and triggers are dependent on the in-game clock, and players can manipulate that clock pretty easily. If you’re familiar at all with Animal Crossing , you’ll be familiar with Time Travel . It works by the same principles, and it is also a mistake to try it here .

Time-travelling is not how the game was intended to be played, and the developers have stated that any bugs related to time travel are low-priority for fixing. Using time travel, even for a few hours, can permanently ruin your game . The #1 reason to time-travel originally was to farm for Dream Shards . As of the recent September patch, Dream Shards are no longer an issue and can be collected easily from daily glowing dig sites or feeding animals.

Below, I’ll explain exactly how to Time Travel — but seriously, you don’t want to do this. Not only can you lose 50+ hours of progress, but you can potentially lock your game progress, forcing you to restart from scratch if you want to experience everything the game has to offer. You don’t risk banning, you just risk causing in-game bugs that the developers aren’t likely to fix anytime soon.

How Time Travel Works

Time travel is a trick used to jump ahead in time and progress faster — in Disney Dreamlight Valley , time travel can be used to spawn daily chests faster, grow crops, change the time of day, or unlock new daily quests. Disney Dreamlight Valley uses your system internal clock, so all you have to do to change the time in your game is to change the time on your system .

• Go to Settings -> Date & Time -> Toggle Off “ Set time automatically “
• Under Set the date and time manually -> Select “ Change “

You can also change the time zone without turning off automatic time setting.

• Go to Setting (Gear Icon) -> Profile & System -> Settings -> System -> Time
• Change the Time Zone from the dropdown menu.

Xbox time cannot be changed while connected to Xbox Live, so you can only change your time zone. Select a time zone that’s a day or more off — it can be trickier to do, but still saves some time.

Now let’s talk about why you shouldn’t use time travel .

• Using Time Travel can lock you out of progression randomly. Nobody knows exactly what causes time travel to go haywire, it just happens. Even if you’ve only done it once.
• Once you’re locked out of progression, you’ll have to reset your save file completely . You’ll lose everything and have to restart from scratch. That could be 50+ hours of work down the drain instantly. And you won’t know that everything is messed up right away.

The devs have already stated that bugs related to time travel are low-priority — they may never fix these issues as they’re not how the game was intended to be played. The rewards are relatively small for time travelling, but the drawbacks are enormous. Seriously, don’t do it !

Time Traveling Errors and Fixes in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Time traveling or time skipping is an action that players do to progress through time in games that have their time synchronized to real time. This is usually done by adjusting the clock within the console or the PC to a future date, and since the game’s time follows this clock, the time in the game will change as well. The reasons for doing so may differ from player to player, but it is mostly about being able to progress through the game faster without having to wait.

Since Disney Dreamlight Valley also runs on real time, some players who are familiar of time traveling from their days of playing Animal Crossing have also tried doing it in the game with the expectation of going into a harvest without waiting for hours. It works, however some players who have tried to travel back to the proper time have experienced some repercussions.

In this guide, we will talk about how time traveling works in Disney Dreamlight Valley, what errors might come up, and how to fix or save a broken save file.

Time Traveling Errors in Disney Dreamlight Valley

When players who have time traveled forward into a future date and then traveled back into the proper date, they found themselves facing many issues regarding several stuff in their valleys such as:

• Crops cannot be harvested
• Crops are constantly withered and cannot be watered
• Fishing spots stop working

Though this can be easily remedied by traveling back to the future date, this might cause further issues once the game starts implementing in-game events.

Time Traveling Error Fixes

One way to fix the issues brought by time traveling is to travel back to the proper time and date, then wait it out until the time in the game (“future” time) matches real time. For example:

• Today is October 10, you time travel to October 17.
• The game’s date is now set to October 17 and it will continue moving forward if not set back.
• Switch the date back to the current date; October 10, 11, or whichever the current real date is.
• Wait until October 17 in real time and then you can log back in the game.

Once real time has caught up to the game time, the game will fix itself and the previously bugged activities in the game should resume working properly. You can log in to the game while waiting for real time to catch up, but your actions will be limited to whatever was not affected by the time traveling errors.

Obviously, this would only be viable if the timespan between real time and game time is just a couple of days or weeks, and it would also depend on how willing the player is to wait for the game to fix itself. If the waiting time takes months, or even a year, a better option would be to just delete the save file and start all over. But before doing so, it’s best to know that there is still a way to save some of your items.

Perform a Cloud Save before starting a new game

You can try to save some of the items that you’ve gathered from your existing save file when going into a new save file by just making sure to perform a cloud save. In order to do this, you must first set the time back to the correct one as cloud saving will not proceed if the game detects that the time does not match up.

Then, you can go ahead and start a new game. After going through the character creation and the starting steps, you should be able to check your inventory and find your items from your previous save file still in it.

Will the time traveling errors be fixed for Disney Dreamlight Valley?

In a post made by a dev in a Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord channel, they have announced that since the game is in early access and time traveling is not an intended part of the gaming experience for the game, they are not prioritizing the fix for any of the unintended issues brought about by time traveling.

Whether or not a patch will come out to solve the time traveling issues, it’s recommended to stay away from the timey-wimey stuff for now.

Did Disney Dreamlight Valley become completely unplayable when you changed your system time? Disney Dreamlight Valley, the gorgeous-looking Animal Crossing-like adventure game, has quickly become a smashing hit in just a week since its release. As it turns out, exploring different realms of our childhood stories, and hanging out with iconic Disney and Pixar characters, is a rather enjoyable experience. However, given that the game uses real-life time in order to govern various in-game activities, cooldowns, reset timers, etc, some players have resorted to a good-old time travel trick. Unfortunately, it seems that changing system time completely messes up the game. In this guide, we explain the Disney Dreamlight Valley Time Travel glitch. And we explore if system time change bugs can be fixed.

Can you Fix Time Travel Bugs in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Many players have tried using the time travel method in Disney Dreamlight Valley in order to bypass real-life time resets and cooldowns . And, instead of being a solution for their impatience, it has become a doom day for their playthrough. As it stands, the real-life system time change will make your Disney Dreamlight Valley run absolutely bugged and riddled with glitches. Currently, players report numerous bugs related to this. Including star pass progress reset, unlootable crops, fruit and fishes stopping respawning, and so on.

Ultimately, time travel creates a series of game-braking bugs which will completely brick your game. It will lock you out of any further progress, and make your run unplayable. Thus, it’s imperative for this game not to mess with the system time change. Do not try to do time travelling in Disney Dreamlight Valley . For now, the only possible fix for this issue we’ve heard about is the one shared by Reddit user u/Chabb . They state that “ If you time travelled, your resources and the shop won’t rotate until the date you fast travelled to is in sync with real life. “.

This is most likely because Disney Dreamlight Valley is a free-to-play game with microtransactions. And AC: NH is a fully-priced title without microtransactions. hi i just bought a game for my daughter and she did time travel tried to fix it but its doesent help and later my daughter told me that she time traveled again and now its all mixed up as we dont know what date she was put on and we cant do anything in game as all is stuck .is there any way i can know what the date i was travel and when its will back to normal.or i must restart the game and start over again but in this case will i lose all characters and they houses and upgrates if i restart game?

I time travelled without knowing the consequences andaccepted that I have to wait 3 weeks to play again. Now – five days after the date was synced up again – the quest crops for scar and stitch won’t grow now, because I planted them before time traveling. Now I have to water them really often and can’t go on with the storyline with those two characters. I’m really pissed off!!

Great, I have to want til June if this is the case. I was stupid and curious about finding out how the world would have less rain in the summer….. I now I cant harvest ANY herbs and all tasks at this moment needs some kind of herb. SUPER FRUSTRATING! Fix it Disney!

Well, isn’t this special. Thanks Disney for taking my money and having no care to live up to your end of the deal. Time travel bugs are low priority? Everybody has their own life happening and different reasons for needing to change the time. But you think penalizing everybody is the answer. This is so un-Disney. The game is ruined and I will never play again. Back to Animal Crossing… thanks for ruining my fun. Because at the end of the day it is for fun! Guess it is more about profit and taking our money.

My game is stuck… it’s like the movie Groundhog Day every time I log in and the part that is frustrating for me is I did NOT time travel in Dreamlight Valley, only in ACNH but when I logged into DLV after resetting my clock it was glitched:( I too have spent money $30 for early access and $9 for star path coins. So disappointing. Please guys fix this!!

FIX: Fast travel past the original time you first fast traveled from. Ex: If you originally fast traveled backwards two days, fast travel forwards three-four days. I don’t know if this works if you fast travel forward originally, cause I fast traveled backwards, but this fixed my problem.

I had time traveled at night time to make the Sunlit Plateu look nicer, but I traveled only a few hours back on the same date. Is my game stuck forever? It was yesterday and now I realized it today. Do I have to time skip again?

This is so frustrating! I time traveled to complete as quest task and now just about everything is buged. Wood, fruits, and mining rocks wont respawn in the areas I had unlocked at the time (areas I’ve unlocked after are seemingly alright along with some rocks I hadn’t touched during the TT) and I can’t harvest herbs and what not. I don’t even remember if it was two, three, or even four days I’d advanced. I really hope they fix this issue.

It does not fix the issue. I think I have reset it many times and even redownloaded the game. its the issue with the saves and the cloud saving in my opinion

i had an issue where a crop was not growing even days after all the rest had matured and been harvested. The only solution I found online was to time travel. I tried one day and no luck. I tried five days and still nothing. When I reconnected to the internet I was unable to harvest any herbs (basil, mushrooms, vanilla). Once the real date matched the date I time traveled to the issue was fixed. I still have the problem with the crop not growing and now there’s two of them. I hope the next update either fixes this or gives us the ability to dig up a crop before it’s ready to harvest. I’ve mistakenly planted a crop more than once and had to wait for it to finish.

Hey did the time you traveled to have to catch up to? Today’s the date I traveled to, but not the time yet, and still things arnt spawning and scrooges shop didn’t change?

It would’ve been nice if they had given us a heads up and not left us to our own suffices about Time Traveling. Not only van I not harvest my basil and Oregano, but also mushrooms. My crops started wilting, even after I re watered them and it won’t allow me to even uproot them and replant them. I now have to make even more holes in my garden to plant fresh crops. I purchased the $70 deluxe version and I’m not restarting the game when I’ve already progressed quite far in the game. An update needs to fix this issue or I’m going to ask Nintendo for a full refund. I’m also out a joycon until they repair my L trigger button on my brand new Animal Crossing joycon, so I’m left to play with a pro controller and without handheld for the next two weeks.

I didn’t even attempt to time travel i just transfered my cloud save data onto a switch that was not synced to the correct date. I bought this game for my wife and downloaded it onto my switch for us both to play, After 3 weeks of sharing my switch and switching accounts to play the game I ended up liking it so much that I purchased another game and downloaded it onto her switch so we could both play at the same time. I then transferred my save data onto her switch which I didn’t notice was not set to the correct date. As soon as I synced I noticed all these glitches…. I am honestly so frustrated that I don’t even want to play anymore, I can’t pick up mushrooms, herbs, 2 rocks from the forest of Valor are not responding and scrooges store does not update items day after day. 3 weeks of hard work went to trash.

I agree I had my clock set two days in future for ACNH. Im also a Night Shift worker and stay up all night on my days off so if you play ACNH the shops are closed at night. I downloaded this game and realized immediately it has glitches. The music started to spasm. The tasks weren’t keeping track of progress. The Scrooge sign task which has you place 4 signs says I o Lu placed 2/4. And it doesn’t let you make anymore. You have to pay a ridiculous amount of coin for more signs. Mickeys tasks weren’t keeping track either. So I set the clock back to the j ferner keeping track. And now everything isn’t spawning anymore so I’m at a stand still for 2 days I guess…so frustrating

I was playing when our power went out logged back in power came back on did not realize that my clock is not set to my Internet so now I am sitting here with 300 pumpkins and I can do nothing with harvesting anything not happy about this at all I have over 400 hours to sit here and can’t do nothing I can not start over bull****

Did your game work after you waited out the days?

Except that it’s NOT free-to-play right now. I spent $31 for it on switch, had no clue about any issues because it doesn’t tell you not to do that and I didn’t psychically know, and now I have a completely broken game with no way to fix it. “Wait until the in game date is the same as the current date” well that doesn’t help when you went back in time does it? My animal crossing town is still in 2021, my switch is set to work with animal crossing. It had literally nothing to do with this stupid game and they have to be butts about it. And anyway, we PAID YOU for early access and the fix is “just don’t play it and wait.” What was the point of buying it early then??? Changing your clock harms literally NO ONE, it’s not even something that helps with respawns cause they’re supposed to be super fast anyway (when they WORK AT ALL). Honestly such a ripoff at this point, I’m so angry with them that they would charge us money and then say lol it’s bugged and you can’t play anyway. Needs fixed immediately. I didn’t pay money for early access to be locked out. Plus, people who don’t have schedules that work with real time play just can’t play it then? Is that what they want? So stupid, I’m so angry with the devs.

I completely agree with this. They need to get their s**t together and get it fixed. I haven’t been able to play in days now because of this damn bug and I’m pissed about it. I paid for the $70 version and this is the thanks I get? A broken game??? C’mon now, I’d animal crossing and other games can figure this out, surely these developers can too. I’m sure they did this on purpose as some sort of punishment for “time traveling”.

I had this happen to me the other day. I have to wait til the 14th of February to even play. Sucks, but I suppose I brought it on myself for not doing my research on Time Travel. I’m so used to animal crossing. Hopefully they fix this bug.

I time traveled thinking it would fix my game from crashing .. unfortunately I messed the game up I’m so sad and I hope one day it’ll be fixed some how no rocks anymore no picking fruit or anything I’m beyond disappointed in myself I was thinking like animal crossing it would be ok.

To unlock Mushu, you'll need to open the door to Mulan's Realm. This costs 15,000 Dreamlight , so be sure that you're saving enough to embark on this journey.

Once you're inside the Realm, you'll find Mushu waiting for you at the training camp. You'll need to complete a series of quests before you can build Mulan's house and welcome both her and Mushu to your village . Below are all the quests you'll need to finish:

Once the quests are complete and you've built a house for Mushu to stay in, you can welcome him to your village . You can now start building a friendship with him and earning rewards !

Building a friendship takes time, but you can complete Friendship Quests to earn additional points. These quests are unlocked as you level up your friendship by giving Mushu his favorite gifts, serving him meals at Remy's Restaurant , doing your duties around the valley, or playing Scramblecoin .

Upon reaching level two, you can assign a role to Mushu so he can help you out around the valley.

These quests can offer unique rewards and help you get to know Mushu better. His level ten quest will reward you with his Best Friend item , which showcases your relationship and support.

With each level increase, you'll earn Mushu-inspired rewards . These items can be clothing, furniture, or motifs based on Mushu's greatness!

The latest patch dials back the clock as you’ll be visiting the 1998 classic, Mulan, alongside a slew of other content. Plus, the adorable adventure sim is also celebrating the release of Inside Out 2, so get ready for loads of emotion-themed activities and rewards as well.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s latest update takes you to the Mulan Realm, which involves you heading to a training camp run by Mushu. You must step into the shoes of a recruit and train yourself to become stronger. You will also lend a hand by clearing up stuff and helping build new homes for all the inhabitants of this camp.

Each villager carries a distinctive questline for you to follow, all of which will take you on novel adventures. Mushu is extremely eager to set up his Dragon Temple and you’ll have to do that at the earliest so that he can kick off his Guardian business. A Mediterranean Salad in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fantastic meal to make for your friends like Mickey, Sulley, and Elsa. However, you'll need ingredients from multiple regions of the game to create this recipe. Here's everything you'll need to create a Mediterranean Salad and be a master chef like Gusteau.

You'll need the following five ingredients to create this five-star dish in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Be warned: it's harder than making Potato Leek Soup . They are:

• A herb or spice

Most of these ingredients can be picked up from Goofy's Stalls across the world of Disney Dreamlight Valley. Cucumber Seeds are picked up in Frosted Heights, Lettuce Seeds are in the Peaceful Meadow, Onion Seeds can be purchased from Goofy in the Forest of Valor, and Tomato Seeds are available in Dazzle Beach. Fast travel between each spot to shorten the time to collect all of these ingredients.

If you're lucky, you can outright buy these ingredients without planting them into the ground. For example, a Tomato was sold to me by Goofy for 33 Star Coins.

Any herb or spice should work with this recipe. Game Rant suggests Oregano would be a good pick as it can be picked up in the Plaza. You're close enough to get some Oregano and then start cooking it at the next minute at your house or Chez Remy.

Disney Illusion Island is a great all-ages platform-adventure that works hard to appeal to players of any skill level.

If you're unlucky like me and have to grow an Onion instead of buying one, you can use Miracle Growth Elixir. It instantly grows a certain amount of crops when used. You unlock it after reaching a certain point in the game. It can be crafted on the bench with the following materials:

• 10 x Vitalys Crystals
• 10 x Rich Soil
• 500 x Dreamlight

Vitalys Crystals can be mined inside the river falls cave within the Sunlit Plateau region. Rich Soil is picked up by picking up crops, vegetables, etc. Dreamlight is earned through finishing in-game quests and Dreamlight Duties.

Another option is to unlock Wall-E by finishing his realm (it's much shorter than Mulan and Mushu's thankfully). He'll set up a garden in your valley, and when it's upgraded, many ingredients can grow there. I was lucky and found an onion there while I was waiting for my own to grow.

You can make the Mediterranean Salad in Disney Dreamlight Valley by going to any stove, oven, or campfire. I typically go to my house or Chez Remy. Simply combine all the ingredients, and you'll make this five-star salad in no time.

In Disney Dreamlight Valley , there are several quests you'll need to complete to bring the hero of China to your village. She's a busy woman, and it will take a lot of work to allow her some free time. Thankfully, you're not alone. By training as a recruit, you can get closer to Mulan and assist her with the final tasks at the camp. However, an unexpected landslide brings everything to a halt. Here's how you can help her clean up and get ready to go.

After watching Mulan and Mushu talk about the landslide, talk to Mulan to get started on the next steps. The goal is to clear the area from the devastation, which means breaking out your royal tools to clean debris . You'll need to do the following:

• Use your Royal Shovel to dig out eight sand piles.
• Use your Royal Pickaxe to break seven rocks.
• Gather and fish out ten Broken Logs.

There will be more than ten logs around the area, but you don't need to collect them all yet .

After you've done all the manual work, return to Mulan to learn about the next steps to protect the area from another landslide.

After you clear the area, Mulan suggests planting new trees that will help protect the road. She'll give you ten seeds and ask you to do a bit of gardening. You'll find ten plots around the newly ruined area, so start searching to plant each seed.

Look carefully! Some of the plots are hidden in tall grass.

You'll need to water them as well, so it's a good idea to equip your Royal Watering Can and water each tree seed as you go. Once all ten are done, return to Mulan to move on to the next steps.

To protect the camp from floods, Mulan wants to craft sandbags to place around the perimeter. While clearing up the debris, you should have collected plenty of brown sand for this purpose. You'll need to use all 40 to make the sandbags at a Crafting Station.

You'll also need 15 Fiber , which can be crafted from Seaweed. Put everything together at a Crafting Station, then bring the sandbags to Mulan. She'll ask you to follow her , after which she'll place all the sandbags.

Once the sandbags are in place, you can talk to Mulan about moving to the village, but she won't go just yet. You'll need to progress further with the Clearing The Road quest before you can build her home and welcome her to the village.

While Mushu waits for the delivery wagon, you can talk to Mulan . She'll ask you to set up her home in Dreamlight Valley so she and Mushu have a permanent place to stay. Head back to the village and open the furniture menu to place Mulan's house.

Once placed, interact with the Scrooge McDuck sign. You'll need to pay 20,000 Star Coins to have it built, but once that's done, Mulan will join you in your village. Take a commemorative photo with her and speak to her one last time to complete the quest.
