Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and The Game: 2023 Australian Tour

Add three more names to the hefty list of big music stars heading Australia's way in 2023: Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and The Game. In what's basically a 90s and 00s hip hop and rap fan's dream come true, the trio are teaming up on the same bill for an Aussie arena tour, including hitting Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney in autumn.

This isn't just any old nostalgia-dripping tour, either. It'll also mark the 30th anniversary of two influential albums: Ice Cube's Lethal Injection and Cypress Hill's Black Sunday . The former was the N.W.A member's fourth solo release, and included singles 'Really Doe', 'You Know How We Do It' and 'Bop Gun (One Nation)', while the latter gave the world 'Insane in the Brain', 'Hits from the Bong', 'When the Shit Goes Down' and 'I Ain't Goin' Out Like That'.

Expect to hear plenty of those songs get a whirl on Sunday, March 26 in the Harbour City.

For Ice Cube, the tour marks his first visit to Australia since 2018, when he became the first-ever rap artist to headline at the Sydney Opera House.

"I love performing in Australia. It's been four long years since my last visit and I can't wait to return for a couple of history-making shows in 2023," said the rapper, aka O'Shea Jackson Sr (and yes, his son O'Shea Jackson Jr did play him in N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton ).

Ice Cube and Cypress Hill will be joined by The Game, who came to fame in the 00s in the West Coast scene. The US talents will also feature Aussie talent in support, with exactly who else will take to the stage yet to be announced.

A.B. Original added to Ice Cube and Cypress Hill arena tour

Briggs and Trials from A.B. Original leaning on the hood of a Chevrolet

  • X (formerly Twitter)

A.B. Original , the multi-award winning hip hop powerhouse comprised of Briggs and Trials are a last minute addition to the forthcoming Ice Cube and Cypress Hill arena tour, which kicks off in Melbourne tomorrow night.

This is a rare outing for the duo, who have only performed a handful of shows over the past few years, most recently hitting arenas in support of Aussie hip hop heavyweights Hilltop Hoods.

A.B. Original have been making new music as they look to follow up the release of their instant classic debut Reclaim Australia , which won just about every award worth winning after its release in 2016.

"It was the most passion-felt passion project ever," Trials told Double J about their debut album last year . "Everything we wanted to say at the time, and then some."

It appears as though the duo are a last-minute replacement for Californian heavy hitter The Game, who has disappeared from all promotion of the event.

Double J has approached the show promoters for comment on the line-up change.

One of the biggest hip hop events of the year is coming, as Ice Cube , Cypress Hill , and The Game   [Ed: The Game is no longer coming to Australia] today announce four massive shows to happen in Australian arenas early next year.

It's an all-out showcase of hip hop royalty, featuring three artists who've not just sold a hell of a lot of records, they've made a genuine impact on the art form through their work.

UPDATE:  The first Melbourne date has sold out, so the full line-up will play a second show at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 22 March. Scroll down for all the dates.

Ice Cube was one of the major players in perhaps the most legendary hip hop group of all time, N.W.A.

It was his rhymes that brought gangsta rap to the mainstream and showed the world the realities of life for a man like him on the streets of South Central.

He's had an enormous solo career since leaving N.W.A. in 1989, making classic records like 1990's AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted , 1991's Death Certificate , and 1993's Lethal Injection , which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year.

Add in his work on films like Friday , Boyz n The Hood and Three Kings , to name just a few, and Ice Cube's huge standing in modern popular culture becomes very apparent.

These will be his first Australian shows since 2018 when he played a string of sold out, history making shows at the Sydney Opera House, and took some time to tell us about the music that has meant so much to him throughout his life.

Cypress Hill have sold more than nine million albums. Not that record sales are any indication of the quality of artistic output, you just have to show respect for such mammoth popularity.

What's more important is the trio's incredible string of records and their always hugely entertaining live shows. Sen Dog and B Real were two of the most distinctive, game-changing rappers of the 90s and their work continues to hit hard today.

With classics like 'Insane In The Brain', 'Hits From The Bong', 'How I Could Just Kill A Man', 'Rock Superstar' and many more, Cypress Hill are an absolute force.

Rounding out the bill is The Game , one of the most influential rappers of the 2000s whose 2005 debut The Documentary is now a bona fide classic, and who continues making great music to this day.

All three artists will play five shows while in Australia, kicking off in Melbourne then hitting arenas in Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

There will be some Australian talent added to the line-up closer to the shows. We'll let you know when they're announced.

Here are the dates. Tickets are on sale from 1pm Wednesday 23 November.

UPDATE [22/03/2023]: The Game will no longer be performing alongside Ice Cube and Cypress Hill when the rap legends tour Australia this month. Replacing the Compton rapper will be A.B. Original.

Original Article – Ice Cube, Cypress Hill & The Game Are Touring Australia In March 2023

All three acts are set to play some massive arena shows around Australia in late March 2023 across just five days, kicking off at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, heading to Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena and then wrapping up at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

All three acts have played numerous shows in Australia over the past decade, with the most recent being Cube’s earth-shattering performance at the Sydney Opera House in 2018. He joined the likes of Wu-Tang Clan and Kanye West before him as some of the only rappers to play on Australia’s most iconic stage, validating his status are one of the industry’s most prolific, important and influential emcees.

RELATED: 50 Cent Is Hitting Australia This Year To Perform His Classic Bangers

Headliner Ice Cube will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of his 1993 album, Lethal Injection , so it’s more than likely a few of the singles from that banger should be creeping onto the setlist. Expect to hear the Funkadelic-laced ‘Bop Gun (One Nation),’ smash hit ‘You Know How We Do It,’ and fan-favourites like ‘Really Doe’ and ‘Ghetto Bird.’

The Game has also got plenty of acclaim to his name. Ever since bursting onto the scene as 50 Cent’s protege with 2015’s The Documentary , his gruff voice has made a massive impact at the cross-section of gangster rap and pop, borrowing some of 50’s radio-friendly sensibility but managing to bring more shades of Compton to the table and paving the way for new-age west coast rappers like Kendrick Lamar and YG.

It’s looking like the promoters behind the massive tour want to turn the triple bill into a bit of a festival as well. A bunch of Australian support acts should be announced closer to the date and we’ll update this piece when they are.

The Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and The Game shows in Australia are the latest to be added to the schedule of live music helping kick off 2023. The others includes:

  • Arctic Monkeys
  • Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  • Freddie Gibbs
  • The Backstreet Boys
  • Joey Bada$$

The tour is set to kick off tomorrow, March 23 at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena before continuing to Adelaide Entertainment Centre on March 25. The tour will head to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena the following evening, wrapping up at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 28.

The Game Pulls Out of Australian Tour with Ice Cube and Cypress Hill

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Californian hip-hop veterans Ice Cube and Cypress Hill will kick off an Australian tour with a show in Melbourne tonight. However, fellow West Coast rapper The Game – who was announced as part of the tour package back in November last year – will not be joining them.

An email sent to ticketholders yesterday advised that The Game is no longer able to participate in the tour due to “last minute commitments.” Replacing the rapper on the run will be A.B. Original – the duo of Briggs and Trials – along with DJ Total Eclipse .

A.B. Original and DJ Total Eclipse Will Be Replacing The Game on Tour

Oh it aint over mfkr pic.twitter.com/jZzDpvvCDk — Senator Briggs (@Briggs) March 21, 2023

It’s not the first time a planned visit from The Game has been cancelled at the last minute. A 2017 tour billed as the rapper’s last-ever Australian run was cancelled a week before it was due to kick off . At the time, promoters said The Game and his management had reneged on a contract made earlier that year.

“Despite our best efforts to try and salvage this tour, there has been a substantial amount of conduct together with statements made by The Game’s team which showed that they had no intention, for whatever reason, to adhere to the contract executed in June 2017 for this tour,” promoters Tour Squad said in a statement. The Game disputed those claims, calling the tour a “fake.”

The Game was set to tour Australia in 2013 in support of his sixth studio album, Jesus Piece. That tour was also plagued by postponements and an eventual cancellation hours before it was set to kick off. The Game has not made any public comments about the cancellation of his planned 2023 dates.

Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, A.B. Original and DJ Total Eclipse will begin their tour tonight – sans The Game – with one of two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. The touring party will head to Adelaide and Sydney over the weekend, before wrapping up at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, 28th March.

Record prize purse announced for 2024 NSW Open

the game australian tour

The 2024 NSW Open is set to shine when it heads to the magnificent Murray Downs Golf and Country Club in the NSW south-west from November 14 to 17, with Australia’s best golfers competing for a record-setting purse of $800,000.

Last held in March 2023, the NSW Open will also return to the spring/summer window for the first time in five years. This tournament and the entire men’s regional Open series is proudly supported by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.  Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW, was thrilled to announce this year’s prize purse and tournament date. “This year’s NSW Open presents a fantastic opportunity for us to ensure the tournament maintains its standing as the most prestigious State Championship on the Australian golf calendar.” “Rich River proved to be a fabulous venue for last year’s Championship, and the crowds we saw throughout the week proved how thirsty the public are for elite tournament golf. We know Murray Downs will be just as successful,” Mr Fraser added. Defending champion, Victoria’s David Micheluzzi, confirmed his status as one of the sport’s rising stars with his victory at Rich River. The win propelled him to the 2023 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit crown and a DP World Tour card for 2024. With the NSW Open returning to a pivotal date on the calendar, this year’s champion could easily end up following in the footsteps of the Victorian. PGA of Australia CEO, Gavin Kirkman, said the NSW Open would be a major highlight of the 2024/25 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia season. “The NSW Open has a wonderful history with an outstanding list of past champions, and we’re looking forward to seeing who adds their name to the trophy at Murray Downs, one of the wonderful courses we have in our regional areas,” Mr Kirkman said.

“It will kick off three huge weeks for our Tour, leading into the BMW Australian PGA Championship and the ISPS HANDA Australian Open. “We are very appreciative of the NSW Government and Golf NSW’s outstanding ongoing support of our Tour and professional golf in general as we continue to grow the game across our region.” Tournament Facts Host venue : Murray Downs Golf and Country Club Dates : 14 – 17 November 2024 Prize fund : AU$800,000 (Min) Website :  www.nswopen.com

The Game Reportedly Ordered to Pay Over $500K Due to ‘Fake’ Australia Tour

The Game's legal issues continue as he and agent Cash Jones reportedly must pay more than $500,000 in damages for their hand in a "fake" 2017 concert series.

Rapper The Game visits the SiriusXM Studios

The Game ’s legal issues continue to pile up.

The Federal Court of Australia has ordered the Game and his agent Cash Jones to pay more than $500,000 in damages for his hand in a “fake” 2017 concert series. As reported by the Daily Mail quoting Oz’s Daily Telegraph,

Justice Sarah Derrington ruled that the Game and his agent are responsible for a seven-city that was canceled and must to fork over $478,120 plus an additional $78,508 in interest as well as cover the court costs of the Australian promoters and plaintiff, Tour Squad.

In 2017, the Game was reportedly expected to appear and/or perform in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, and Cairns. Game and his team reportedly pulled out of the tour after the promotion company refused to shell out $3.21 million for a documentary the rapper wanted to film.

The Game also increased his performance fee from $32,100 to $51,340, with an additional after-party appearance fee of $19,250. He informed the company he would be bringing a 15-person entourage that needed to be catered to. But since there was no paper trail of Tour Squad complying with these stipulations, Justice Derrington determined Game’s decision to back out of the deal to be a breach of contract.

Complex has reached out to the Game’s rep for comment.

This isn’t the only legal case that the Game is wading through. In 2019, he was ordered to pay $7 million after losing a sexual assault case to Priscilla Rainey. She was granted Game’s Prolific Records in 2020 due to his failure to pay the settlement, as well as royalties for his 2019 album  Born 2 Rap .

The Australian Open men’s and women’s golf events will return to Victoria in 2024

It took longer than it should have to lock it in but this year’s Australian Opens finally have a host venue and the chase for the world’s best to play is on.

Golf Australia boss James Sutherland is adamant the field for the Australian Open will have an “international flavour” after doubts over the staging of this year’s event were put to bed less than 200 days from the tournament’s return to Melbourne.

No big names have yet been locked in with a strong Australian presence certain with Kingston Heath revealed as the new main venue after a determination to get the event on the “best courses” having only been played twice in the past 22 years on the famed Melbourne sandbelt.

The push could be on to lure the likes of world No.2, and 2013 Australian Open winner, Rory McIlroy, who in 2020 was primed to play in the event at Kingston Heath before it was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

“Kingston Heath to me is so good,” he said at the time.

“I love those splashed up bunkers and the bunkers go all the way to the edge of the greens. That’s what I like.”

There had been concerns around a host course for this year’s dual-gender tournament, with both the men’s and women’s events to be played on the same course at the same time for a third-straight year, with several in Melbourne’s sandbelt baulking at the taking on the playing load.

But Golf Australia officials have secured Victoria Golf Club to co-share and it will host half the field for the opening two days before the final two rounds of both the men’s and women’s events will be played at Kingston Heath.

Defending men’s champion Joaquin Niemann has signalled his intent to return to defend his title which he won in Sydney last year.

Niemann, who plays on the LIV Golf tour, earned an invitation to the Masters on the back of his victory in Sydney, with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley labelled the Australian Open a “great, great event”, possibly paving the way for more of LIV’s big names to head to Australia to also try and book a Masters spot.

“If previous years are any indication the field will be very strong. Australian players are very proud of their national open … they want to get their name on the trophy,” Sutherland said on Thursday.

“You can expect the field to have a real international flavour, on the men’s side we are co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour so we’ll see players from Europe.

“We’ll see others as we did last year with Joaquin Niemann coming to try and earn a spot at the (British) Open which he did and he’ll be playing at Royal Troon.”

Sutherland said moving the tournament from Sydney, where it has been staged for 15 of the past 16 years, was about getting the event on the “best courses”.

“The Melbourne Sandbelt is a unique treasure in world golf, with a long history of hosting tournaments and producing worthy champions,” he said.

“We believe that great tournament should be played on the best golf courses.

“It’s remarkable to think that in the lats 22 years this will only be the second time on the sandbelt.”

The fields will consist of 156 men and 84 women, competing for prize money of $3,400,000 with the tournament to be played from November 28 to December 1,

As was the case in 2023, there will be one cut made to both the men’s and women’s fields after 36 holes of play, having flirted in 2022 with both a Friday and Saturday cut.

Making the Australian Olympic team for Paris has put the superstar Lee siblings on a special list, but something even more special could happen down the track.

His mum is at Wimbledon commentating on tennis and now Elvis Smylie will be making his own major appearance in England.

Australia’s Cameron Davis has won a PGA Tour thriller and was brought to tears after his rival’s brutal choke job.

Tour de France 2024: Jai Hindley, Michael Matthews among six Australian cyclists in fray - where to watch live

The Grand Tour will start in Florence, Italy and finish in Nice, France. The route will bypass Paris for the first time in history due to the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

Jai Hindley of Australia.

The iconic Tour de France 2024 is all set to flag off in Florence, Italy with the Grand Depart on Saturday. For the first time, the route will bypass the French capital due to the Paris 2024 Olympics .

This is the first time that the Grand Depart is being held in the Italian city. The tour will reach Nice after 21 stages, concluding on July 21.

Tour de France stage winners Jai Hindley and Michael Matthews will be among the six Australian cyclists aiming for victories with their road cycling teams.

Hindley, who became the first Aussie rider to win the Giro d’Italia in 2022, claimed stage 5 at the Tour de France last year. He wore the yellow jersey briefly before finishing seventh overall.

This year, Hindley will ride as a super-domestique to Primoz Roglic for Bora-Hansgrohe.

Three-time World Championships medallist Michael Matthews will look to carry his good form at the Tour de France.

Matthews, a four-time Tour de France stage winner, finished second at Milan-San Remo and secured two top-10 finishes during the Spring Classics. He will ride for Jayco-AlUla along with compatriots Chris Harper and Luke Durbridge .

Jack Haig , who came 16th in the Critérium du Dauphiné earlier this month, will ride for Bahrain-Victorious. The 25-year-old Jarrad Drizners , the U-23 national champion in 2020, will make his Tour de France debut with Lotto–Dstny.

To accommodate the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics, set to begin on July 26, several adjustments have been to this year's route. The 111th edition of the Tour de France will roll through a total distance of 3,492km underlined by 52,000m of elevation gain.

Spread across 23 days that includes two days of rest, the Tour de France will have two individual time trials. The Grand Tour will see four mountain-top finishes, a series of gravel sections for the first time and a hilly time trial to Nice.

On July 21, the 21st and final stage will be contested as a time trial between Monaco and Nice, instead of a traditional sprint on the Champs-Elysées. This will be the first time since 1989 that the Tour will end in a time trial.

Visma-Lease a Bike’s Jonas Vingegaard, who won his second straight title last year, will be the defending champion.

How to watch Tour de France 2024 live in Australia

Live streaming of Tour de France 2024 in Australia will be on SBS on Demand . The broadcast of the Tour de France will also be on SBS.
