Day 01 : Arrival Leh from Surat

On arrival at Leh airport, you will be met by our representative at the airport and and Drop to the Hotel. Complete day for the acclimatization & rest as Leh is at an altitude of 3500 Mtrs above sea level. Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 02 : Leh - Sham Valley (Magnetic Hill, Sangam,)

After breakfast, drive to Sham Valley Sightseeing first visit to Hall of Fame, Gurudwar Pathar Shahib, Magnetic Hill, Sangam of (Confluence of river Zanskar and Indus point) . Evening visit to Shanti Stupa & Leh Package, After Sightseeing back to Hotel and Overnight stay.

Day 03 : Leh to Nubra via Khardungla Pass - Hunder (120 Km / 4 - 5 hrs)

After breakfast check out hotel drive to Nubra Valley, also known as Valley of flowers From Khardungla top, one of the highest motor-able roads in the world, Khardung La pass (altitude: 18,380 ft.) after drive to Nubra Valley Pass by the Shyok River and arrive at Nubra Valley, First Visit to Diskit Monastery, Diskit Monastery - the oldest and largest Gompa in Nubra valley famous for its beautiful architecture and intricate frescos and wall paintings.

Matitreya Buddha : The 108 feet tall statue of Maitreya Buddha is located just below the Diskit monastery, at an altitude of 10,308 feet, 15 kilometers northwest off the Khalsar-Panakil route, right at the edge of the desert in the Nubra Valley. The height of the Maitreya Buddha statue is certainly something to think about, but there are other things about the statue that are as interesting, While the Diskit Monastery is a major tourist place to visit in Nubra Valley in itself, you cannot miss out on the Maitreya Buddha statue. After Diskit around 20 Mints from Drive for Hunder, you can also enjoy a ride on double humped camel on the Sand Dunes . Equally surprising is the sight of the double humped Bactrian camels, whose two humps enable them to develop resistance to cold, drought & high altitudes. Taking a ride on these double humped camels which gently make their way among the white sand dunes, with poplar trees dotting the landscape & the pleasing murmur of the River Shyok flowing nearby, it all makes for a memorable experience. After Sightseeing Evening Check in Camp / Resorts / Hotels in Hunder.

Day 04 : Hunder - Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok

After breakfast at hotel we drive to next destination pangong lake via Shyok and onto Tang Tse and Spangmik ( Pangong). It's a short cut and it's a beautiful route. The road follows the Shyok river, and climbs up a mountain before finally descending into Shayok village. It took us less than an hour to reach Shayok, and we were delighted at the sight of the rather big village surrounded by barren mountains, the entire setting being very picturesque. Afternoon we reach at Pangong lake and enjoy your day at pangong lake. Overnight stay at camp.

Day 05 : Pangong Lake - Hemis / Thiksey - Leh

After breakfast, leave Pangong / Tangtse and retrace the Leh route across Chang-la. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit the famous Hemis Monastery, biggest monastery of Ladakh. Later drive on to Leh, enroute visiting the picturesque Thiksey monastery. Stok Palace, 3Idiot School and after sightseeing check in Hotel and overnight in hotel.

Hemis monastery is one of the popular tourist destinations in Ladakh. This monastery is stationed on the west bank of the peaceful river Indus. The location lies 45 km from Leh city. This is the largest as well as amost favoured monastery in Ladakh was constructed in 1672 AD under the reign of King Singge Namgyal. Hemis monastery host an annual festival called Hemis Tsechu attracts plenty of tourists across the globe. During this colourful day-long festival the local resident lamas glorify the victory of good over bad and perform dance wearing holy masks.

Thiksey Monastery

Thiksey Monastery is a convenient 45 min drive from Leh - the main city in Ladakh. There is good choice of accommodation available in Leh. Alternatively, one can stay at the excellent Chamba Hotel at the base of Thiksey monastery and run by the Monastery. Chamba Hotel has traditional Ladakhi architecture.

The Druk White Lotus School (3 Idiots School)

The great Indian Films! They make places a popular tourist spot out of nowhere!! Amir Khan Starrer "3 idiots" is one of such Indian Boolywood movie. Some parts of the film were shot at Pangaong Lake, Ladakh and some in a school near Leh named "The Druk White Lotus School" . The school is located 15 km from Leh town on the Leh-Manali highway in the village Shey. This school became a popular tourist spot after huge success of the movie and after damage of its building by cloudburst that struck Leh on August 2010. The actor Amir Khan visited the school after the incident and helped to raise funds for rebuilding damage structure of the school.

One of the major attractions of this trek is the Hall of Fame. It was made by the Indian Army in memory of brave soldiers who were martyred to save us during the Indo-Pak wars. The Hall of Fame Museum is located on Leh- Kargil Road, about 4km from the city of Leh. Kali Mata Mandir & Spituk Monastery

An 11th-century monastery, Spituk Gompa lies on the western end of Leh. The monastery comes under the Tsongkhapa order (Yellow Hat sect) of Tibetan Buddhism but it was originally founded by Karma-pa (RedHead Sect). The Spituk Gompa features a giant Kali statue that they only bring out during festivals. Above the monastery, on a hilltop, the Kali Mata Temple is located where Goddess Kali is enshrined.

Sindhu Ghat

The literal meaning of ghat is a broad flight of steps leading down to a river. Sindhu Ghat is a riverbank near Shey village in Leh. It is renowned for its unique and scenic landscape, which has barren mountains, rocky terrains, sparse greenery, and the Sindhu River crossing the region.

Shey Palace

It is located 15 km to the south of Leh on the Leh- Manali road. Shey used to be the summer capital of Ladakh in the past. It has a giant Shakyamuni Buddha statue which is the second-largest Buddha statue in Jammu and Kashmir.

Needless to say, it is the same school that you saw at the end shot of the 3 Idiots movie. It gained massive popularity after that climax scene in the movie. Druk Padma Karpo aka Rancho School is a Buddhist cultural school located in Shey village very close to Shey Palace.

Arrival in Leh | Welcome To The Charming Land Of Ladakh

Upon arrival in Leh, you will be welcomed by the breathtaking view of the mountains surrounding the airport. The altitude of Leh is 3,500m/ 11,500ft above sea level, so it is essential to take it easy on the first day to acclimatize to the altitude. A pick-up service will be provided from the airport to your hotel, which is included in the cost of your itinerary. It is recommended that you carry a copy of your ID proof and two photographs with you. For foreigners, a copy of your passport and visa is necessary.

Only postpaid networks are available in Leh, so make sure that you have a plan that works in the area. ATMs are available, so you don't need to worry about carrying a lot of cash. There are several shops in Leh where you can buy souvenirs or anything else you might need during your stay.

You will have a briefing at 5 pm on the day of your arrival, where you will be given a brief on what to expect during your stay in Leh. • Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation or at a nearby restaurant.
• Pack up and depart from Pangong Lake, beginning the journey back to Leh.
• Take in the scenic drive through the Chang La Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the world.
• Stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
• Continue the drive back to Leh, taking time to enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas and the surrounding landscape.
• Check in to your accommodation in Leh upon arrival.

Day-8: Departure From Leh | Bid Adieu To The Mountains

• Check-out from your hotel.

• Government Employees can avail the benefit of Special Casual Leave (SCL) when they join us for a trekking expedition. As per the rules of the Pay Commission, Special Casual Leave can be availed for up to 30 days in a calendar year for trekking/mountaineering expeditions through a registered organization. Trek The Himalayas is a registered adventure tour operator by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and the Ministry Of Tourism (MOT).
• Trekkers have to apply for leave at least 20 days before the trek departure date.

How To Reach

It is essential for everyone to arrive at Leh (01:00 pm)

 Upon booking the trek, your trek coordinator will furnish you with the hotel details.

Choose any option to reach Leh

The easiest and best way to travel is to fly to Kushok Bakula Rimpochi Airport located in Leh. It is just 4 km away from the main city. The airport is well connected to Delhi and also receives flights from Mumbai, Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh, and other general destinations in India. Even international travelers can fly directly from major cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi. You can find taxis outside the airport or book a cab to reach the required destination.

There are two road routes to Leh

Manali (Himachal Pradesh ) to Leh via Baralacha La, Lachulung La and Tanglang La and It covers a distance of 500 km.

Srinagar to Leh via Zoji La, Lamayuru Lunar Landscape and Kargil and It covers a distance of 450 km.

You cannot reach Leh directly by train as there is no train station in Ladakh. The nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi (700 km from Ladakh) which is well connected with Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

For your return journey from Leh, you have the flexibility to choose between road or air transport options. Please note that our services extend only to the hotel, and the standard hotel check-out time is 11:00 am, if you opt for an air transport then please ensure an early check-out in the morning, as all flights operate during the morning hours

It's highly advisable to keep 2 buffer day in your travel plan. If the buffer day is not needed, it can be used to explore Leh.

2- AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) -   are portable life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.

In the unlikely event that TTH cancels a trek prior to the scheduled departure date:

While it is extremely rare for TTH to cancel a trek, we understand that unforeseen circumstances or natural disasters may occasionally require us to do so before the scheduled departure. These circumstances could include continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity that poses a risk to the safety of our trekkers. Additionally, unforeseeable events such as local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any similar situations that compromise the safety of the trekking experience may also necessitate a cancellation.

In the event of such a cancellation, TTH will provide you with a voucher equivalent to the amount you paid for the trek. This voucher can be redeemed for any of our treks within the next year, allowing you to still enjoy an adventure with us at a later date.

The issuance of a voucher is not applicable in situations where you are required to descend from the trek for any reason. The trek leader may make the decision to send you down from the trek due to factors such as insufficient fitness level, symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), high blood pressure, exceeding the designated turn-around-time, health concerns, or if you are found smoking, drinking, or violating the rules set for the trek. In such cases, the provision of a voucher does not apply.

In the rare event that TTH shifts a trek:

We would like to emphasize that weather conditions in high-altitude areas are highly unpredictable and can undergo sudden changes at any time, irrespective of the day. Additionally, circumstances beyond our control, such as natural disasters, political unrest, pandemics, and lockdowns, may impact the feasibility of conducting a trek. In cases where we are unable to proceed with an event due to such circumstances that are beyond our direct control, we will make every effort to provide you with an alternative trek that is safer and more suitable.

In such situations, we will issue a voucher to offset the cost difference between the originally scheduled trek and the alternative trek. This voucher can be redeemed at any time within one year from the date of issue. Please note that a refund fee or reimbursement of the cost difference is not applicable in these cases.

If I have booked the wrong trek or date, how can I make changes?

In such a situation, please log in to your account and transfer your trek or date to the desired one within 12 hours or drop us an email at [email protected] 10 days before the departure date of the trek. After the initial 12-hour period, any changes will be processed according to the cancellation policy.

Can a beginner choose a tough trek?

It is not recommended for a beginner to choose a difficult Himalayan trek. Trekking in the Himalayas can be physically and mentally challenging, especially if you are not used to the high altitude, steep slopes, and rugged terrain. Choosing a difficult trek without the proper experience, fitness level, and preparation can be dangerous and put you at risk of altitude sickness, injury, and other hazards.

If you are a beginner, it is recommended to start with an easier trek and gradually build up your skills and experience. This will help you understand the challenges of trekking in the Himalayas, and also prepare you physically and mentally for a more difficult trek in the future. What is the age limit for a beginner trekker?

There is no specific age limit for a beginner trekker. However, it is important to consider your physical fitness, health condition, and personal interests before embarking on a trek. If I am solo, can I join the trek in a group?

Yes, you can join the trek. We have fixed departure groups where you can simply book your trek and we will take care of curating a group.

How does my family get updated about my Trek?

Before you start the trek, it is recommended that you make all the necessary phone calls as during the trek you may or may not receive network coverage, once you come back to the Base Camp, you can reconnect with your family via phone once again. You can share your trek coordinator contact detail with your family members to get the latest updates about your trek batch.

What food can I expect?

At TTH, we provide wholesome and nutritious meals during the trek. The food is vegetarian and includes a variety of dishes such as rice, dal, vegetables, chapati, paratha, pasta, noodles, and soup. We also offer snacks such as biscuits, and salty, and dry fruits during the trek. Special dietary requirements such as vegan, gluten-free, or Jain food can also be arranged if informed in advance.

I am allergic to some foods.

If you are allergic to some foods, you need to let us know in advance so that we can make arrangements accordingly.

How safe is trekking with TTH?

TTH is a trekking company that prioritizes the safety of all its participants, including women trekkers. They have a comprehensive safety system in place, which includes a dedicated team of experienced and trained trek leaders and support staff who are equipped to handle emergency situations and provide first aid.

TTH also takes specific measures to ensure the safety and comfort of women trekkers. They have a separate tent accommodation for women trekkers, female trek leaders, and support staff. They also provide separate toilet facilities for women and encourage a safe and respectful environment for all trekkers.

Moreover, TTH has a strict policy against any kind of harassment and has a zero-tolerance policy towards such incidents. They have a designated Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to investigate and address any complaints related to harassment or misconduct. Overall, TTH has a good reputation for safety and responsible trekking practices, and women can feel comfortable and safe while trekking with them.

How TTH will manage if I am the only woman in the group?

In case you are the only women in the group, we provide a single sleeping arrangement. Also, during the trek, the trek leader will always remain by your side to provide optimum safety and reassurance.

How can I know that other women are in the batch?

You can reach out to the trek coordinator to inquire about the number of female trekkers and their respective states who have booked the trek. Please note that the trek coordinator cannot disclose personal details of any trekker. Once you've confirmed your booking, a WhatsApp Group will be created for all the trekkers in your batch. This allows you to connect with fellow trekkers before the trek begins.

Can I know in advance, which trek is led by a women Trek Leader?

While many of our treks are led by female trek leaders, however, it is not possible to know which trek leader is assigned to which group. But nonetheless, whether the trek leader is male or female you can be completely assured of your safety and security with us.

Can I trek with periods? If yes, then where can I dispose of the sanitary pad?

Yes, it is possible to trek with periods. However, it is important to take some extra precautions and preparations to ensure a comfortable and safe trekking experience.

Here are some tips that can help you trek during your period:

1. Use menstrual hygiene products that you are comfortable with, such as tampons, pads, or menstrual cups. It is recommended to carry enough supplies for the entire duration of the trek.

2. Pack wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and plastic bags to dispose of used hygiene products.

3. Wear comfortable and breathable clothing that allows for easy movement and reduces friction. Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that can cause discomfort.

4. Carry pain relief medication, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, in case of menstrual cramps.

5. Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet to support your energy levels and overall health.

6. Take breaks as needed and listen to your body. If you feel uncomfortable or experience any unusual symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

It is also recommended to consult with a doctor before going on a trek during your period, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition or are taking medication. We provide proper disposal facilities for sanitary pad disposal during the trek.

How will the accommodation be during the trek?

We offer three person tents with twin-sharing for optimum comfort. A woman trekker will share a tent with another woman trekker and if you are the only woman in the group, you will be given a single accommodation for your comfort and privacy.

Are trek poles, Jackets and other equipment available for rent from Trek The Himalayas?

Yes, we do provide gears on rent. You can book it using you TTH account directly.

Who will be with us on the trek from Trek The Himalayas?

Mountaineering qualified Experienced and first aid certified Trek Leader, First Aid Certify local guide, Cook, helpers and supporting staff.

Who can not join the trek?

People suffering from Bronchitis, Asthma, High blood pressure, Epilepsy (got faints), TB , Heart problem or on higher BMI side are strictly not allowed to go on any Himalayan trek. Apart from this if you had any medical history, please let us know.

When it gets really cold can I consume alcohol?

No. Alcohol and smocking isn’t allowed while on trek. It is totally misconception that it will keep you warm. Your body need to acclimatize properly and for that eat properly and drink enough water; these things will keep you warm.

What type of toilet facility is TTH providing at the trek?

Toilet tents provide a convenient solution for answering nature's call in the great outdoors. Dry toilets, in particular, offer a highly sanitary approach. By digging a pit and utilizing mud and a shovel, you can easily cover up your waste. This method ensures cleanliness and hygiene while camping or exploring in the forest. 

Remember to pack essential toiletries to complete your outdoor bathroom kit and maintain proper personal hygiene during your adventures. With these practices in place, you can enjoy nature while also respecting it.

How do I manage the negative temperatures on the trek at higher camps? Do I need special jackets?

Layer Up From Head To Toe Eat Full Meals, never sleep empty stomach You can keep warmee (if you’re more susceptible to cold). Use sleeping bag in right way and don’t leave free space in sleeping bag.

For upper body – Thermal layer – T-shirt (full-sleeves) – Fleece T-shirt (for extreme colds) – Fleece layer – Thick Jacket/Down Jacket – Waterproof or Windproof layer (outermost layer, when it is snowing or raining) - For Lower Body – Thermal layer – Hiking pants (normal) or Winter hiking pants

Based on how warm you feel you can skip any of the above layers. Your outer later should be windproof since it is windy at high altitude. The idea behind layering is that the more insulation you have the less cold you feel, and instead of wearing a very thick jacket if you wear multiple layers, your body will be better insulated against the cold.

Do you provide crampon/micro spikes and gaiters?

Yes, we provide micro spikes and gaiters, if required.

What documents need to carry on trek?

Mandatory documents: 2 xerox of ID having address (addhar card/driving license), 2 Passport size photographs, hard copy Medical form signed & sealed by doctor, disclaimer form sign by trekker and high altitude insurance.

If we come prior the trek date, Do you provide accommodation?

No. We don’t but we can suggest you good hotel/Stay nearby pick up location.

Do we get enough water for drinking?

How to Reach Leh Ladakh

Ladakh, a gem nestled in the trans-Himalayan region of India, is a haven for wanderers. Its unparalleled beauty and cultural richness draw everyone from around the world. Nestled amidst the mighty Karakoram and the Himalayan ranges, Ladakh is an ethereal spectacle, sitting at an altitude of about 9,800 feet above sea level. There are several different ways in which you can reach this mountain destination after availing of the Ladakh trip packages, including: 

1. By Flight:  Leh's Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is a domestic unit situated merely 3.8 kilometres from the city, is the highest commercial airport in India. Major airlines like Air India, GoAir, and Jet Airways operate regular flights connecting Leh with cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Srinagar, and Jammu. Upon landing, cabs are readily available outside the airport for transfer to various parts of Ladakh. For international travellers, direct flights can be boarded from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata to Leh.

2. By Road:  Another exhilarating way to reach Ladakh is by taking a bus ride and exploring the winding roads. Two primary highways lead to this rugged paradise. The first is the Manali-Leh Highway, stretching across 473 kilometres, usually open from mid-June to early October. The second is the Srinagar-Leh Highway, which covers a total distance of 434 kilometres and is open between the months of July to November. State bus operators like the Himachal Pradesh Tourism (HRTC) and the Jammu and Kashmir State Tourism (SRTC) also operate their buses on both of these routes on a regular basis. The bus journey from Manali-Leh takes about 19 hours, and Srinagar-Leh approximately 17 hours, including an overnight halt.

3. By Train:  You can also reach Ladakh via a train ride. The closest railhead to Ladakh is Jammu Tawi, situated approximately 708 kilometres away. This station enjoys seamless connectivity with major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Chandigarh. On reaching Jammu Tawi, you can hire a taxi or hop aboard a bus and take a 15-hour journey to get to Ladakh. Chandigarh and Pathankot also have railway stations relatively close to Leh.

4. By Bike:  One of the most popular routes that you can take while biking to Leh is the Manali-Leh Highway, which spans around 490 kilometres. This route takes you through several mountain passes, including the Rohtang Pass, Baralacha La, Lachung La as well as  Tanglang La . Another popular route for biking is the Srinagar-Leh Highway, which is 434 kilometres long. This is a relatively less challenging route and takes you through stunning locales, including the Drass War Memorial, Zoji La Pass and the  Lamayuru Monastery . For an even more unique route, you can bike all the way from Pathankot to Leh, on the Pathankot-Leh Highway. This route is 1,235 kilometres long, and you can cover it in around 3 days. 

5. By Car:  You can also set out on a self-drive journey to Ladakh by car, for a unique experience. Reaching Ladakh by car is an adventurous journey, usually taken via two main routes - the Srinagar-Leh Highway and the Manali-Leh Highway. The Srinagar-Leh Highway, open from May to October, is a scenic route that takes you through Zoji La Pass, Kargil, and Alchi. The Manali-Leh Highway, open from June to September, is a more challenging but exhilarating route, taking you through Rohtang Pass and several high-altitude passes. Getting to Ladakh by car allows you to traverse at your own pace, soaking in the panoramic vistas, halting at quaint roadside cafes, and experiencing the local culture up close.

The route passes close altogether from around October to May, and the only way to reach is by air. Chadar trek on frozen Zanskar river takes place in January to the end of February.

• Leh Ladakh generally remains closed for more than 6 months from November to April or Mid-May due to heavy snowfall on the mountain passes. 
• Inner Line Permits are no longer required to travel the inner line areas of Ladakh from August 2021 for Indian Nationals. However, Permits are required for International Tourists. 
• Ladakh is a plastic-free union territory
• Carry sufficient cash as there are no ATMs outside of Leh and sometimes these ATMs won't be operational due to bad weather and power issues
• If you are traveling by flight, make sure you keep the first day for acclimatization in Leh before heading to other places like Pangong.
• While traveling on the Leh-Manali Road and the Leh-Srinagar Road, Inner Line Permits are not required. However, they need to contribute to the Ecology Contribution Fund.

• Government authorities launched a web portal  http://lahdclehpermit.in/ on June 1, 2017, making it easier for travellers to obtain a permit. Also, a photocopy of a valid passport with a visa or OCI card is required to get this permit if you are an international tourist.
• Visitors from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, are not eligible to obtain a permit from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Leh. They need to apply for an Inner Line Permit from the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi. However, foreigners with a diplomatic passport or who are members of the United Nations need to apply for an Inner Line Permit from the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi
• Visit TIC Office, Opposite J&K Bank, Main Market, Leh to get permits signed and stamped. The timings of the office are 9.00 AM to 03:00 PM.
• The scrapping of ILP doesn't allow the movement to certain villages including the 'zero-km' villages near the border still remains accessible for the travellers.
• Indian travellers will be required to carry a valid ID proof while travelling to Ladakh

Day 4 : Nubra Valley
