Orange luggage tags are provided and are to be placed on your “checked luggage” (large bag). Important Information:

New reservations will require a $250 per person deposit unless otherwise noted. As always, your deposit is still fully refundable for any reason until final payment. We are happy to accept cash, check (preferred) or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) for your deposit.

Throughout 2021 we limited capacity on all our tours. This policy was so overwhelmingly popular by Sunrise travelers, we have made it permanent. In 2022 and beyond, we will limit the capacity on our motorcoaches to 80%. Most Sunrise Tours travel on 50-seat coaches with extra legroom, which means guests will enjoy extra legroom AND at least 6-8 empty seats. In the rare cases when we charter a 55-seat coach, there will be at least 10 open seats on the bus.

Our popular on-board refreshment service on travel days will feature a variety of soda, beer, wine spritzers, juices and sparkling water choices served in recyclable aluminum cans. This is a safe and eco-conscious way for us to deliver the ever-popular Sunrise Tours “happy hour” on tour. We do not typically serve bottled water and ask that while on tour you be responsible for your own hydration and consider the Sunrise Tours drink service a welcome refreshment.

Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours – Sedona

red rock western grand canyon tours

Popular Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours

Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours is owned and operated by the same folks who own and operate Sedona Red Rock Western Jeep Tours —which means they have a strong reputation in the area for providing informative, enjoyable, and safe tour outings all throughout the beautiful Northern Arizona region. Their tours fall firmly in the $100-$200 range, and are suitable for anyone over the age of 5.

Panoramas of the Grand Canyon

The signature tour available from Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours, this unforgettable excursion highlights several of the most popular scenic viewpoints along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This full-day tour usually departs from Sedona between 7:00am and 7:30am, and includes lunch at Maswik Lodge in Grand Canyon National Park . For adults, a ticket costs about $130; for children, around $120.

Ancient Spirits of the Canyon

This informative outing takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the Painted Desert region, stops at historic Wupatki Ruins , and winds right alongside Sunset Crater —all before arriving at the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon itself. Approximately $120 per adult; $110 for children. Versions of this tour depart from either Flagstaff or Sedona.

The Grand at Sunset

This spectacular tour is all about letting you experience one of the Grand Canyon’s marvelous sunsets. From iconic Yavapai Point , prominently located along the iconic South Rim of the Grand Canyon , you’ll get to see the reds and oranges of the Southwestern sunset merge with the reds and oranges of the great Grand Canyon. This tour also runs approximately $120 per each adult, and roughly $110 per each child.

The Grand Finale

This special tour only runs between March 15 th and November 15 th . It takes you on a 15-mile ride down the legendary waters of the Colorado River as it winds through northern Arizona from Glen Canyon Dam to Lee’s Ferry. Tickets cost just about $200 for adults, and $175 or so for children.

Things to Know & Insider Tips

  • The price of a tour ticket from Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours does not include any sort of gratuity for your guide. If you have a positive experience while on your tour, it is customary to tip approximately 20%.
  • Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours requires reservations, so if you want to go on one of their tours, you’ll need to commit to buying your tickets in advance.
  • The “child” pricing point is good for all kids ages 15 and under; however, no children under the age of 5 are allowed to go on any of Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours’ excursions.
  • If you have to cancel your reservation for any reason, try and make sure to do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure time, as this is the only way to make certain you will receive a full refund for the price of your tickets.

Is Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours for You?

Red Rock Western Grand Canyon Tours has a lot of experience providing visitors to Northern Arizona with memorable, enjoyable experiences. The prices of their tours to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon are quite reasonable compared to the typical rate you’ll find in the area. However, their offerings are a bit more limited than some other similar regional companies—meaning you don’t have as many tours to choose from when making your plans. Likewise, they are based in Sedona: this is certainly a bonus if you want to stay in Sedona while visiting Grand Canyon National Park, but it is also important to remember that this adds over 4 hours roundtrip to your day.

We’re open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March through October and 7 a.m to 6 p.m. November through February, EVERY day of the year except Christmas Day, with scheduled tours hourly all day long.

How far are you from Phoenix?

We are 98 miles from Phoenix, with a drive time of about two hours. This is one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Arizona with the convenience of I-17. Elevation rises from 1,000 feet in Phoenix to 5,000 feet within two hours, with the flora and ecology changing every 15-20 miles; a SIGHT to be seen!

Along your way, you also pass by the Native American monuments of Montezuma’s Well and Montezuma’s Castle. It’s a spectacular, scenic journey prior to arriving at your majestic, magical destination in beautiful Sedona.

How far are you from Las Vegas?

We are approximately 275 miles from Las Vegas with a drive time of about 4.5 hours. This is a historic drive across Old Route 66 on I-40. You will have several choices of unique and colorful small towns where you may stop, shop and view on the way.

One extra special stop is Williams, AZ, home to Grand Canyon Railway, a Red Rock Western Jeep Partner. Your journey then takes you through historic Flagstaff, AZ and along 89A Oak Creek Canyon, home to the National State Park of Slide Rock.

How far are you from Flagstaff?

We are 26 miles from Flagstaff, with a drive time of about 40 minutes. This breathtaking voyage is on 89A through Oak Creek Canyon, a national treasure. You pass by the State Park of Slide Rock and drive over the Guinness World Book of Records “most curved bridge.” The scenic road takes you through a treeline of seasonal foliage and rock sculptures that will take your breath away.

Do I need to make a reservation?

We highly recommend an advanced reservation. We will give you a confirmation, and you are all set for your first choice of tour and time. We also take walk-in reservations and are happy to try and accommodate any need you may have, but can not guarantee availability. Come on in, though. We ALWAYS do our BEST to accommodate everyone if you’re flexible on when your tour leaves, and usually, it works out just PERFECTLY for you.

What should we wear?

Dress for the season; layers in winter and light clothing for summer. We also suggest comfortable traction tread shoes or tennis shoes, hats or visors, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Contact wearers may prefer to switch to glasses for the tour.

What should we bring?

Water bottle, comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, excitement, and a charged phone for all the picture-taking opportunities.

Can we bring lunch and eat it in the jeep?

You are welcome to bring food and drinks; however, we cannot allow glass containers or alcohol, and keep in mind that you will be on a bumpy ride.

Are smoking or alcoholic beverages allowed?

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed during tours. We operate primarily on protected U.S. Forest Service Lands and are very aware of our responsibility to protect our custodianship of these beautiful surroundings for generations to come and request cooperation and assistance from our customers in preserving our scenic wonderland.

How many people can go in one jeep?

We seat 5 or 6 plus your guide, depending on the trail you choose and the sizes of the people. With smaller children, you can keep your family of 6 together if that’s your desire.

Will there be other people on the jeep with my family?

No, it will just be your party! We only offer private tours to make you as comfortable as possible and make your experience as personal as possible.

What if I have a passenger who is pregnant or has a back problem or other injury?

We have On-Road Tours available for these exact situations! Try our Easy on the Asphalt or a gentle version of our Vortex Tour. We require a signed acknowledgment of risk from those who have serious back or neck problems, or other injuries. We do not take pregnant women under any circumstances.

Yes, the minimum age is three years old. Children under 16 years old must have an adult on the tour. We have car seats and booster seats available; please let us know in advance.

What is the temperature in the month that we are visiting?

It’s cool to sometimes cold in the winter. In the summer, dress in light layers and you’ll enjoy the primarily cool to balmy and sometimes comfortably warm weather in our open-air vehicles. The fresh outdoor air breezes are wonderful to take in any time of the year.

What happens if it rains?

The showers in our area are usually very brief, but we do carry rain ponchos in the jeeps. If it becomes too wet, we reserve the right to reschedule your tour.

Are there restrooms on the trails?

No, we will be in the U.S. National Forest. We have public restrooms behind our Jeep Tour Center and suggest you use those before leaving, and our guides are here to please if we need to accommodate someone’s needs.

What is the standard tip for our tour guide?

Best Horseback Riding Red Rock Canyon Tours

Horseriding through the Nevada desert is beautiful. It’s such a perfect experience. You get the fun of riding a horse, and you get the beauty of the panoramic views in all directions. But you want to make sure to have the best time possible, so I have only included the best of the best horseback riding Red Rock Canyon tours.

1. Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast from Las Vegas

A picture of a horseback riding Red Rock Canyon tour group riding through the canyon

⭐ RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars (1100+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 5 hours | 🐴 BOOK NOW

The best horseback riding tour through Red Rock Canyon is the Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast from Las Vegas which has over 1100 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Review which says "Book it! Do it! They earned all their 5 star reviews. The trail was incredible and breakfast was amazing! The price included hotel pick up, trail ride, water for the ride, breakfast w/ drinks and coffee, lasso lessons and photo ops. Can't be beat. Book it."

When taking a tour myself, I always want to go with the tried and tested option, and Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast from Las Vegas has certainly passed the test of time.

You don’t get over 1000 positive reviews for no reason- especially since people are way less likely to leave a review of a good tour than they are to leave a review of a bad tour.

The rating speaks for itself. 5/5. The perfect Red Rock Canyon horseback experience.

There are also lots of extras included like hotel pick-up and drop-off which is completely free.

What I personally loved so much about this tour is the fact that it was early in the morning . There’s no better way to start your day than with an experience like this.

It also means the Canyon is much more peaceful and the ride has a really secluded and tranquil atmosphere- which is really nice when you’re horseback riding.

And it also means there is a delicious breakfast included too!

Honestly, I was expecting the breakfast to be pretty bad. Most tours which include food (aside from food tours) are usually serving sub-par food, but the breakfast on Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast from Las Vegas was actually really really tasty.

I really enjoyed it and it made for the perfect break in between riding.

But obviously, the riding is the main attraction, and it’s tremendous. The horses are lovely; really friendly horses and you can tell they enjoy the trek too.

For many people, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it would be completely ruined by having an uncooperative horse. From my experience, everyone’s horse was really well-behaved and easy to ride.

Whether you’re a first-timer or a pro-rider, you’ll have no issues. Don’t worry- it was my first time riding a horse too and I managed fine.

You get about 90 minutes of riding in total, which is plenty if you aren’t used to the pain of sitting on a horse- you’ll find the break a welcomed break.

If you want to book the best horseback riding tour of the Red Rock Canyon, look no further than the Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast from Las Vegas .

2. Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride and Barbeque

A group of horses being ridden through the Red Rock Canyon

⭐ RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars (850+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 5 hours | 🐴 BOOK NOW

Another tour I can really recommend is the Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride and Barbeque . Like the first tour, it’s also very highly rated with over 850 5-star reviews.

red rock western grand canyon tours

This is another tour I can vouch for. When my parents visited Las Vegas, this was the horseback riding tour of the Red Rock Canyon which they opted for.

Unlike me, they don’t love being up early in the mornings. So that’s why they preferred Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride and Barbeque .

As the name suggests, it’s in the evening during sunset. Red Rock Canyon is beautiful at any time of the day, but it becomes especially beautiful during sunset.

In my unbiased opinion as a sunset lover, everywhere becomes more beautiful during sunset.

Also included is, instead of breakfast, a barbeque . My mum and dad told me that just like the breakfast, it was well above expectations and was really tasty. Just don’t make the same mistake my dad did in having a steak for his lunch 🤦‍♂️.

But if the BBQ isn’t enough…how do s’mores sound?

Sounds unreal to me- nothing beats a s’more! If you haven’t heard the name before, it’s when you toast a marshmallow and put it between two biscuits (cookies) making a sort of sandwich.

AND, if that isn’t enough, you also get some wild western entertainment and cowboy poetry too.

This tour is a true cowboy experience. From the horseback riding through the canyon to the barbecue and finishing off with some entertainment, you’ll feel like a good ol’ cowboy or cowgirl.

If you want to make your childhood dreams of becoming a cowboy come true, then be sure to book the Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride and Barbeque .

3. Wild West Sunset Horseback Ride with Dinner from Las Vegas

A group of horses in their stables in the desert.

⭐ RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars (700+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 5 hours | 🐴 BOOK NOW

The standard of these horseback riding Red Rock Canyon tours is incredible. The third tour on this list is Wild West Sunset Horseback Ride with Dinner from Las Vegas and it also has a maximum rating of 5/5 after over 700 reviews.

Review which says "This was an absolute amazing experience! I attended with my two kids who are 6 and 21. We were all 1st time riders that was left ready for the next experience. My 6 year old wanted to take his horse “Cricket” home lol. Leo was the best guide and the cook did an amazing job."

The Red Rock Canyon is in the Mojave Desert which in my opinion, is one of the most picturesque deserts on our planet. It’s hard to find the words to describe it.

I hate cliches, but the cliche “ pictures don’t do it justice ” is the best way to express how I feel about horseback riding through this beautiful part of Nevada.

Wild West Sunset Horseback Ride with Dinner from Las Vegas is more than “just” a sunset tour, more than “just” horseback riding. It’s a complete dream-worthy experience.

The phrase “ ride into the sunset ” is quite literally what you are doing. You will leave a happier person.

I also love the sunset tours because, on top of a gorgeous sunset and a nice evening meal, you also get to do a bit of stargazing . And deserts are some of the best places in the world for stargazing.

The Mojave Desert has actually been named one of the best places for stargazing in the US .

There’s no light pollution, and seeing the stars shining bright against a dark night sky is a moment I always cherish.

By the way, the trails you take are the same ones used by infamous outlaws of the Wild West , and this is something the tour company prides itself on- authenticity in the trails.

Sounds good, right? So what are you waiting for? Book the Wild West Sunset Horseback Ride with Dinner from Las Vegas well in advance as spots are limited as there are only so many horses.

4. 2-Hour Horseback Riding through Red Rock Canyon

A single file row of people riding horses through the Mojave Desert.

⭐ RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars (550+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 5 hours | 🐴 BOOK NOW

Another really good option for horseback riding through Red Rock Canyon is 2-Hour Horseback Riding through Red Rock Canyon . Even at fourth on my list, it still has over 550 reviews and a 5-star rating. It’s impressive how high the standard of these tours is.

red rock western grand canyon tours

As I’ve said before, it’s hard to find the words to describe how special a horseback riding tour through the Red Rock Canyon is.

Even as someone who runs this travel blog for a living, you’d expect I could find the words to describe 2-Hour Horseback Riding through Red Rock Canyon but I can’t.

I genuinely think you need to experience it for yourself to understand how incredible it is.

You are fully immersed in the moment, with a magical sensory sensation as all of your senses are taking in the experience.

The warm sun makes your body feel cosy inside while you feel the bumps of the horse taking steps forward, while you hear the trotting of their feet on the desert and smell that desert smell which can’t be described.

To summarise, it’s wonderful. Marvellous. Miraculous. Any positive adjective will describe how it feels to ride a horse through the Red Rock Canyon.

This tour, in particular, I really like because it offers a bit of education also. Who doesn’t like learning things while having fun?

While riding, you will be taught about horses, the cowboy lifestyle and facts about the desert and canyon. Your wrangler will have you leaving as a horse expert.

This tour is also great if you’re short on time. It’s only two hours and doesn’t include a meal or anything, but still allows you to have a great time riding.

I love these tours so much that I included horseback riding through Red Rock Canyon on my complete bucket list for visiting Las Vegas .

If you’re looking for a shorter tour, then definitely take a look at 2-Hour Horseback Riding through Red Rock Canyon .

5. Las Vegas Horseback Ride with Meal

Two horses being ridden through the Red Rock Canyon.

⭐ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (50+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 5 hours | 🐴 BOOK NOW

Last but by no means least is the Las Vegas Horseback Ride with Meal . And it really is a case of last but not least, with a very strong rating of 4.5/5.

Review which says "What a great evening, the ride itself was so relaxing, watching the sunset whilst riding back to camp. The bbq meal was very nice followed by a log fire and a nice piece of apple pie. Cesar and Hector were great guides and Joe our driver/cook was great."

If you’re on the edge between choosing between a morning tour or an evening tour, you might not be a fan of Las Vegas Horseback Ride with Meal .

But if you like having a lot of options , then you will be a fan, as you can choose between a breakfast or dinner horseback ride through Red Rock Canyon.

It is really hard to choose, but to help you make that decision…

Imagine yourself in the Red Rock Canyon as you and your equine companion navigate narrow passages and open expanses alike. Every turn offers a fresh perspective, a chance to be captivated by the charm of nature’s beauty.

Did you picture yourself there? Was it sunset? If it was, take the sunset tour. If it wasn’t, maybe the breakfast tour is the one for you. Note that the meals can be made vegetarian upon request.

By the way, if you love the Red Rock Canyon, you will love the Grand Canyon, and there’s no better way to see it than by taking a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon from Vegas .

Bhether you’re a seasoned rider or a novice, the Red Rock Canyon horseback experience promises an intimate connection with the land and a sense of freedom that only the open desert can provide.

If you want to experience this freedom, and all of the natural beauty of the Red Rock Canyon and beyond, then be sure to book the Las Vegas Horseback Ride with Meal .

The Grand Canyon, located in northern Arizona, is a geological wonder that needs no introduction. Carved by the Colorado River over millions of years, it exposes nearly two billion years of Earth’s geological history.

1. Unparalleled Geological Beauty

The Grand Canyon is renowned for its intricate and layered rock formations, with vibrant colors that change throughout the day as the sun moves across the sky. These layers tell the story of the Earth’s history, from the Precambrian era to the present day.

2. Hiking Adventures

The Grand Canyon offers a vast network of trails that cater to all levels of hikers. Whether you choose the popular Bright Angel Trail, the challenging Rim-to-Rim hike, or simply a short walk along the rim, the breathtaking vistas will leave you in awe.

3. Colorado River Rafting

For a truly unique perspective, rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You’ll navigate challenging rapids, camp under the stars, and witness the canyon’s walls rise majestically on either side.

4. Spectacular Sunsets and Starry Nights

The Grand Canyon is famous for its stunning sunsets. As the sun sinks below the horizon, the rocks come alive with a warm, golden glow. And when night falls, the canyon’s isolation from urban light pollution makes it an ideal location for stargazing.

Red Rock Country: Sedona’s Vibrant Beauty

Sedona, Arizona, often referred to as Red Rock Country, is a stark contrast to the Grand Canyon but equally captivating. It is renowned for its towering red rock formations, vibrant arts scene, and unique spiritual energy.

1. Iconic Red Rock Formations

Sedona’s red rock formations , composed of sandstone and limestone, are a playground for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and the famous Coffee Pot Rock are some of the area’s most recognizable landmarks.

2. Spiritual and Healing Energies

Sedona is often associated with a strong spiritual presence and is considered a place of healing and rejuvenation. Many visitors are drawn to the vortex sites, believed to radiate unique energies that promote well-being.

3. Art and Culture

Sedona’s artistic community is vibrant and welcoming. The town is dotted with galleries, studios, and cultural events, making it a hub for artistic expression and appreciation.

4. Outdoor Adventures

Beyond the red rock formations, Sedona offers an abundance of outdoor activities. Mountain biking, horseback riding, and jeep tours are popular ways to explore the rugged terrain and lush canyons.

The Grand Canyon and Red Rock Country are two distinct marvels, each with its own unique allure and charm. The Grand Canyon’s geological grandeur and hiking opportunities provide a deep connection to Earth’s history, while Sedona’s red rock formations, artistic culture, and spiritual energies offer a more contemplative and artistic experience. Both destinations showcase the incredible diversity and natural beauty of the American Southwest. As you explore these incredible sites, you’ll be struck by the juxtaposition of color, texture, and the profound sense of time etched into the landscape. Whether you’re seeking adventure, contemplation, or artistic inspiration, both the Grand Canyon and Red Rock Country deliver experiences that are truly unforgettable, making them must-visit destinations for nature lovers and explorers of all kinds.
