Rory McIlroy has already sewn up the Race to Dubai – European golf’s annual order of merit – again but there is plenty of prize money to play for at its finale, the DP World Tour Championship, this week.
The tournament itself, which features the top 50 players on the DP World Tour this season, has a first prize of $3m, more than the winner’s payout at the Masters.
And there is an added incentive in the shape of an increased $6m bonus pool for the players who finish in the top 10 of the Race to Dubai standings.
DP World Tour Championship prize money
The 2023 DP World Tour Championship is the most lucrative event belonging only to the European circuit and has total prize money of $10.5m, a five per cent increase on last year.
First place in the tournament, which was won by Jon Rahm for the third time last year, receives $3m – more than the Masters champion receives and equal to the winners’ cheque at the Open Championship.
Only four events – the Players’ Championship and Tour Championship on the PGA Tour, and two Majors, the US Open and US PGA Championship – offer more prize money to their champions.
Race To Dubai bonus pool
The Race to Dubai bonus pool boosts the prize money on offer in Dubai this weekend by $6m, up from $5m last year.
Last year McIlroy also topped the standings and pocketed a $2m share.

The DP world tour championship, established in 2009, is a golf tournament on the European tour. It is the last event of the DP World Tour Rankings of the year. Every year it is played on Earth course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, designed by Greg Norman. However, the sponsor of the championship title is the DP World, based in Dubai.
The top 50 players in the DP World Tour Rankings are eligible for the tournament. However, one player who won’t be making the trip to Dubai is the reigning champion, Collin Morikawa. The American golfer’s fans also saw him finish at the top of the DP World Tour Rankings in 2021, but he missed out due to personal commitments this year. This has opened the door for others to conquer this year’s championship. Let’s find out more about the final event of the DP world tour.

Details of the 2022 DP World Tour Championship
This year, the DP World Tour Championship Dubai field will be headed by Rory McIlroy , Jon Rahm , and Matt Fitzpatrick. This championship is the season finale in the United Arab Emirates, which will conclude on November 20, i.e., Sunday. The venue is Golf Estates Earth Course, where this year’s winner will claim the victory.
‘Hope All Is Well’: Unfortunate Collin Morikawa Announcement Raises Massive Concern, As the Golf Community Rushes to His Support
The huge prize money amount is one of many centers of attraction. Many perks and benefits are waiting in line to be grabbed by the tournament’s winner. They will award the golfer holding the DP World Tour Championship Dubai trophy with 22 Official World Golf Ranking points. However, the availability of points will ultimately depend upon the field’s strength. The winner will also enjoy other benefits like an exemption for two-plus seasons on the European Tour, as well as an easy entry into important events.

However, the entire field of the championship will also have a total of 12,000 Race to Dubai points . The points offered are solely related to the tournament’s purse, which was quoted in USD. Out of 12,000 points, 2,000 is reserved for the DP World Tour championship winner. The players with the most season-long Race to Dubai points at the end of the tournament will reach first place of $2,000,000 million in the Race to Dubai.
Purse and prize money breakdown
The purse set for the 2022 DP World Tour Championship Dubai is $10 million. The winner will get a whopping amount of $3,000,000. According to European Tour’s prize money distribution chart , the winner’s payout must be 16.67% of the total purse. However, this time it’s 30% of the total purse.
The DP world tour works differently, and the payout differs for all the players. This time, the payout is different from the standard pay scale. The winner will take $3 million home, and they will typically distribute the remaining $7 million among the 49 players. However, the twist here is that the top five players in the Race to Dubai will be paid a bonus pool of $5 million.
Here is the prize money breakdown among the field winners of 50 players. And the absence of a 36-hole cut.

DP World Tour Championship 2022: Prize purse, field, venue
We have reached the finale of the DP World Tour season as the circuit's most in-form players will face off at the Earth Course in Dubai.
We have already had the finale of the PGA Tour and this week, we will see the end of the DP World Tour season at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Last season, Collin Morikawa completed a sensational win at the expense of Rory McIlroy on the Earth Course in 2022 and he became the first American to win the season-ending event.
However, the two-time major champion isn't in the field this week at Jumeirah Golf Estates despite being ranked 35th in the DP World Tour Rankings. The top 53 players are eligible to compete this week.
Top of the rankings is none other than Rory McIlroy. In nine events either sanctioned or co-sanctioned by the former European Tour in 2022, the Northern Irishman has eight top 10s. Unfortunately, they were top 10s without victory.
Ryan Fox from New Zealand has been the standout player on the Tour this year. He won the Ras al Khaimah Classic and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and made six other top-five finishes.
Currently ranked second, he could become the first player from his country to win the final Rolex Series event of the year. Matt Fitzpatrick , Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland make up the rest of the top five.
Fleetwood climbed to fourth in the DP World Tour Rankings after winning the Nedbank Golf Challenge , which was his first win since his victory at the same tournament in 2019.
LIV Golf will also have a small representation in the field this week with the likes of Richard Bland, Adrian Otaegui, Pablo Larrazabal, Oliver Bekker and Sam Horsfield teeing it up.

DP World Tour Championship 2022 Purse: Payout and Prize Money Breakdown
The season finale of the 51 st DP World Tour season is currently underway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Fans are excitedly watching the top players of the DP World Tour compete against each other in the 5-day long European golf championship. Here, you will know about DP World Tour Championship 2022 Purse, Payout and Prize Money Breakdown
Since its establishment, the DP World Tour has been a fan-favorite event featuring top-level players and enormous-sized purses. The usual 72-par-based stroke play format is used in the event. The tournament is sponsored by Rolex.
The 2022 DP World Tour marks the 14 th official iteration of the event. The leading 50 golfers of the DP World Tour rankings are participating in the tournament. Unfortunately, the defending champion of this year, Collin Morikawa withdrew from the event a week before its initiation.
Let us look at some detailed information on the ongoing DP World Tour finale event.
DP World Tour Championship 2022 Purse:
As usual, DP World Tour Championship 2022 Purse is $10 million. It is the largest purse size ever provided in the tournament. Previously in 2021, the event provided a $9 million purse pool. Therefore, the purse pool increased by a whopping 11.1% this year, which will positively affect reward size for individual standings.
Unfortunately, the winner’s share won’t be affected by the purse increment. This is to be expected considering the already featured large amount. The 2022 tournament will reward the champion with a $3 million purse like the 2021 champion Collin Morikawa received last year.
However, all other position holders can expect a nice purse increment. This year’s runner-up will receive a guaranteed purse of $1,166,660. Whereas, the previous runner-up Matt Fitzpatrick received $1 million in 2021. Additionally, the purse for the 3 rd position holder is increased from $666,666 to $777,770.
The event provides all the participants with a share of the purse money. As such, the bottom placement holder will receive $32,900 in contrast to last year’s $25,800.

Dubai Invitational Prize Money Payout
The first DP World Tour event of the year visits the United Arab Emirates for a new tournament, the Dubai Invitational at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, one of the best golf courses in the Middle East .
The tournament also marks the opening of the International Swing section of the Global Swings phase of the season with the first of seven events across Asia and Africa between now and March.
Like the Opening Swing that preceded it, the International Swing offers $200,000 for its champion. Min Woo Lee capped a successful year by taking that honour in the Opening Swing. Who will finish top after the seven events of this section?
This season’s DP World Tour also has total prize money of a record $148.5m , and $2.5m of that is available here. That’s the largest prize fund for a tournament so far this season, and the winner will claim $425,000.
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is one of the best courses in the Middle East
The tournament, which will be held biennially in 2024, 2026 and 2028, features 72 holes of stroke play with no cut, played concurrently with a Pro-Am team event over the first three days, with Sunday featuring professionals only. The field will feature 60 professionals and 60 amateurs.
Aside from the financial incentives for the professionals, there are also 3,000 Race To Dubai points available this week, while the winner of the International Swing will qualify for the next scheduled Rolex Series event, the Genesis Scottish Open in July, and each tournament of the DP World Tour's Back 9 phase of the season.
Below is the prize money payout for the Dubai Invitational.

Who Are The Star Names In The Dubai Invitational?
Dubai-based Tommy Fleetwood is one of the biggest names in the tournament
Several big-name players are competing in the inaugural tournament, with the highest profile by some distance being World No.2 Rory McIlroy . He makes his first start since November’s DP World Tour Championship in the same city.
The 34-year-old has had plenty of success in this part of the world, including two wins at the DP World Tour Championship and victory in last year’s Dubai Desert Classic, after he held off Patrick Reed in a thrilling finale. Can he add another tournament to his list of UAE successes this week?
To do so, he’ll likely need to fend off stiff competition from European Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood . The Dubai-based Englishman will be confident of a seventh DP World Tour win here as he aims to build on his T2 at the 2023 DP World Tour Championship.
Another member of the European Ryder Cup team , Nicolai Hojgaard, also plays, along with captain Luke Donald one of his vice-captains, Francesco Molinari .
Hojgaard’s brother Rasmus also plays, while other notable names include Adrian Meronk and Ryan Fox, who were among 10 players to secure PGA Tour cards at the conclusion of the 2023 DP World Tour season.
Who's In The Field For The Dubai Invitational?
Some of the world's best players are in the field for the inaugural Dubai Invitational, including World No.2 Rory McIlroy and six-time DP World winner Tommy Fleetwood. Adrian Meronk, who has four wins on the Tour, also plays, along with European Ryder Cup player Nicolai Hojgaard.
What Is The Purse For The Dubai Invitational?
The largest purse of the DP World Tour season so far, $2.5m, is available at the Dubai Invitational. The winner will claim $425.000. The event also marks the first of seven tournament in the International Swing. The International Swing champion will earn an extra $200,000.

DP World Tour announces record purse for 2023 season, introduces new earnings assurance program
Rory McIlroy talks with Keith Pelley, CEO of the DP World Tour, during the pro-am prior to the Italian Open in September at Marco Simone Golf Club.
Stuart Franklin
DP World Tour players will compete for a record level of prize money in the 2023 season. Outside of the four major championships and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, the former European Tour will offer $144.2 million over a schedule that will feature a minimum of 39 tournaments in 26 countries. That figure includes a $6 million bonus pool for the leading eight players on the tour rankings at the end of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Perhaps most strikingly, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open and BMW PGA Championship all move from $8 million to $9 million next year, ahead of the $10 million season-ending DP World Tour Championship. In addition, four new tournaments in Asia are also included on the 2023 schedule, with the Singapore Classic (Feb. 9-12) and Thailand Classic (Feb. 16-19) taking place in consecutive weeks, followed by the tour’s first trip to Japan for the ISPS Handa Championship in April and a return to Korea for the first time since 2013.
There is, however, one more caveat to that record-breaking figure of $144.2 million. Next season will also see the introduction of a new Earnings Assurance Program similar to the Player Impact Program operating on the PGA Tour. Exempt players in categories 1-17 will be guaranteed minimum earnings of $150,000 if they compete in 15 or more events as part of the program, which was agreed to by the DP World Tour’s Tournament Committee last week.
In addition, at the end of the season, the program will fund any gap between actual earnings and the $150,000 minimum. Rookies, Challenge Tour graduates and Qualifying School graduates can take up to $20,000 right away to fund early-season travel. Members in categories 18-20 will not be eligible, but they will be eligible for a $1,500 pay-out if they miss the cut in an event, to assist with travel costs and other tournament-related expenses.
RELATED: Bubba Watson says he received guaranteed money to play in PGA Tour events
According to the tour’s announcement, the new program has been made possible by “DP World Tour’s operational joint venture partnership with the PGA Tour which was announced in June.”
“For us to be able to offer our members record prize funds and enhanced earning opportunities is massive, particularly when global economies are still feeling the effects of the pandemic and with the new challenge of rising inflation significantly putting pressure on costs in all facets of our business,” said DP World Tour chief executive Keith Pelley. “Our overall prize fund for the 2023 season represents $50 million more than 2021 and also underlines the strength of our partnership with the PGA Tour, who are working with us to drive revenue and a long-term growth plan.”
RELATED: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy to take on Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth in ‘The Match’
There was also some justification for the Earnings Assurance Program, which will surely draw criticism from those concerned over a loss of purity in what is supposed to be a competitive sport.
“I have always believed that it is an incredible accomplishment for any professional golfer to simply gain their playing rights on the DP World Tour and this new initiative recognizes and rewards that achievement,” continued Pelley. “Although we will never lose the magic of the meritocracy of a performance-based structure, this now offers certainty of income to those players who have made it to the pinnacle of the professional game in Europe. It will provide security and a strong platform for emerging players in particular as they come through the global pathways we have created.”
The new DP World Tour season officially begins later this month with two events both being held Nov. 24-27—the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane and the Joburg Open in South Africa.

US PGA Championship 2024: Tournament guide
Find out all you need to know ahead of the 2024 US PGA Championship , the second of this year's four men's major golf championships.
This year will be the 106th edition in its history, and is scheduled to be held between Thursday, May 16 through to Sunday, May 19 at Valhalla Golf Club, in the state of Kentucky in the United States.
Read on for the DP World Tour's guide to one of golf's biggest events.
What is the format of the US PGA Championship?
The US PGA Championship is a 72-hole individual strokeplay tournament contested over four rounds of 18 holes.
Following the first 36 holes of play, the 156-player field will be reduced to the low 70 scorers and ties with those players advancing to compete in the final two rounds.
What is the format should there be a play-off?
In the event of a tie for first place after 72 holes, there will be a three-hole aggregate score play-off on holes 13, 17 and 18. If still tied, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off on hole 18, 13, 17 and 18 repeated.
The last play-off was in 2022, when Justin Thomas overcame fellow American Will Zalatoris to win his second US PGA Championship title.
Who is the defending champion?
Brooks Koepka claimed his third US PGA Championship with a two-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland last year as the American won his fifth major overall.
Who is in the field?
Each of the top 103 players in the Official World Golf Ranking will tee it up in Louisville, Kentucky.
A plethora of DP World Tour members are in the field, including Jesper Svensson who is set for his major debut after receiving an invite from the PGA of America following some impressive results in his rookie season on the DP World Tour, including victory at the Porsche Singapore Classic in March.
Among others, he joins countryman Ludvig Åberg, who finished runner-up on his first Major start at the Masters last month.
Fellow Swede Sebastian Söderberg, Japan's Keita Nakajima and Spain's Adrian Otaegui secured exemptions by finishing in the top three on the DP World Tour's recent Asian Swing.
The final two spots in the 156-player field are being reserved for winners of this week’s PGA TOUR events, the Wells Fargo Championship and Myrtle Beach Classic.

What are some of the key storylines heading into the event?
World Number One Scottie Scheffler has been the dominant force in 2024, winning four times in his last five starts and finishing second in the other.
Ahead of the second men's major of the year, the American, who won his second Masters title last month, skipped the PGA TOUR's Wells Fargo Championship ahead of the imminent birth of his first child.
Race to Dubai Rankings leader Rory McIlroy is back at the scene of his most recent major victory at this tournament in 2014, when he completed the last hole in near darkness to claim what was thenhis second major victory in four weeks.

Since finishing just outside the top 20 at the Masters last month, he has won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the PGA TOUR alongside Shane Lowry and will hope to mount a title challenge on ground he has enjoyed past success at.
Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion, returns to the site of his 2000 US PGA Championship win when he overcame Bob May and went on to win the "Tiger Slam" at the next year's Masters.
Without long-time caddie Ian Finnis as he recovers from open-heart surgery, Tommy Fleetwood will hope to challenge again for a maiden major title after finishing in a tie for third at the Masters - his best finish at Augusta National.
The power of sport to create life-changing moments was in full evidence at the second men’s Major Championship as Michael Block went from an unknown to a cult hero in a matter of days.
After securing a top 15 finish last year, the club professional from Southern California takes to the major stage again for what will be his sixth appearance at the event.
What is the Purse for the 2024 US PGA Championship?
The purse for the 2024 US PGA Championship will not be disclosed until the week of the championship. In 2023, the purse was $17.5 million with the champion receiving $3,150,000.
