The 13-city, 14-date outing will also find the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer playing East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium for the first time since 2016. “I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!,” the indefatigable 79-year-old said in a statement.

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has announced his first tour dates since 2019 . The U.S. run kicks off this April in Spokane, Washington and winds up in New Jersey in mid-June. Check out the dates below.

“I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time,” McCartney said in a press release. “I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!”

McCartney released his latest album, McCartney III , in 2020, before enlisting a host of collaborators (Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Devonté Hynes, Damon Albarn, and others) for a companion LP, McCartney III Imagined , the following year. Peter Jackson’s stupendously long documentary on the making of Let It Be came out last year. Read “ The Beatles: Get Back Rewrites the Fab Four’s Ending .”

Paul McCartney announces first live shows since 2019 with the Got Back tour

The run of 13 US dates kicks take place between April 28 and June 13

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has announced that he will play 13 dates across the US, naming his first live outing since 2019 the Got Back tour.

The shows will include dates in LA, Boston, Baltimore, Seattle, LA and Orlando, as well as spots that McCartney has not previously visited or has not played in decades, including Hollywood, FL, Knoxville, TN and Winston-Salem, NC.

“I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you,” says McCartney. “Well, I got back!”

As much as it is possible to say so of one of the world’s most enduringly popular songwriters, the former Beatle is enjoying something of a renaissance following the release of Peter Jackson’s 2021 documentary series Get Back , hence the nod in the tour’s branding.

The series has offered a more nuanced and surprising portrayal of the band’s fraught 1969 sessions, casting McCartney and the British icons’ approach to the Let It Be and Abbey Road recordings in a newly sympathetic and humorous light.

Tickets for the new McCartney dates will be on sale from next Friday (February 25), though American Express card holders get early access, with tickets available to them from February 22.

paul mccartney tour schedule 2022

His long-awaited return to the concert stage with his “Got Back” 2022 tour with the first 16 dates at U.S. stadiums and arenas announced, beginning on April 28. (On Feb. 25, a second concert at Boston’s Fenway Park was added; on Mar. 10, a second show in Oakland, Calif. was announced.) The U.S. itinerary begins in the west and ends in the east, a little over a week before the Glastonbury Festival, which had given rise to speculation that he would join the lineup. He had previously played the festival in 2004. Tickets to the entire Glastonbury Festival, which spans June 22-26, are sold out. (Among the dozens of other acts scheduled to perform are Diana Ross, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar.)

McCartney had terse but brotherly professional and personal relationships with Lennon

How did Paul McCartney react to John Lennon’s death?

John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City by Mark David Chapman .

Lennon’s death in 1980 shattered Beatles fans around the world roughly ten years after the band’s tumultuous breakup.

McCartney, who was on bad terms with Lennon at the time of his death, was approached by the press on the street and asked for a comment on Lennon’s death.

Getting Back on Tour: Paul McCartney to Play a Series of Concerts in South America This Fall

by Matt Friedlander June 10, 2024, 11:13 am

Paul McCartney hasn’t played a full concert since the final show of his 2023 tour on December 16 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but the Beatles legend has announced that he’s getting back on the road this fall. McCartney’s Got Back Tour 2024 features five confirmed concerts in four South American countries.

Videos by American Songwriter

The trek will kick off October 1 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and currently is mapped out through an October 27 show in Lima, Peru. In between, McCartney will visit Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 5; Santiago, Chile, on October 11; and Córdoba, Argentina, on October 23.

Sir Paul’s concerts in Montevideo and Lima will be his first in those cities since 2014. He last performed in Córdoba in 2016, while his most recent shows in Buenos Aries and Santiago took place in 2019.

McCartney announced the tour with a post on his social media sites that featured a montage of footage from previous concerts. The promo also included audio of a live performance of The Beatles’ “Get Back.”

Buying Tickets to McCartney’s Concerts

Tickets for the new shows will go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 14. Pre-sale tickets also will be made available. Fans hoping to score early tickets for the concerts may want to check StubHub in the coming days.

About McCartney’s Most Recent Performances

The 2023 edition of McCartney’s Got Back Tour featured 18 shows, and included concerts in Australia, Mexico, and Brazil.

McCartney’s most recent performance was at the star-studded Jimmy Buffett tribute concert on April 11, 2024, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. During the show, Sir Paul sang the Beatles classic “Let It Be” with the Eagles.

Archival Live Collection One Hand Clapping Due Out Soon

Meanwhile, as previously announced, McCartney will be releasing an archival album titled One Hand Clapping on Friday, June 14.

The collection features recordings McCartney made with his old band Wings in August 1974 at Abbey Road Studios in London for a planned video documentary and possible live album that wound up being shelved.

One Hand Clapping features audio from sessions that were filmed and recorded over the course of four days. The new release features audio of all of the performances captured for the film, as well as a number of songs recorded off-camera that will be made available officially for the first time.

One Hand Clapping features versions of various Wings hits, plus many songs from the Band on the Run album. It also includes a rendition of McCartney’s solo classic “Maybe I’m Amazed,” reworked segments of a few Beatles tunes, and a version of the Moody Blues hit “Go Now” sung by Wings member Denny Laine.

One Hand Clapping will be available as a two-CD set, a two-LP collection, and via digital formats. An exclusive two-LP package available only online comes with a 7-inch vinyl single featuring previously unreleased solo performances recorded in the backyard of Abbey Road.

Paul McCartney announced Monday he will play two shows in Argentina in October as part of his Got Back Tour.

The legendary Liverpudlian lyricist and former Beatle will play on October 5 at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, and October 23 at the Mario Kempes Stadium in Córdoba.

“We’re coming back to play in Argentina. We’re very much looking forward to it, we’ve had some great shows there, and we love you,” said McCartney in a video posted on X by the show promoters DF Entertainment.

“So, get ready to rock and get ready to roll. We’ll have a massive party in Argentina.”

Tickets will be available on Wednesday, June 12, at 10 a.m., Buenos Aires time, on All Access. An exclusive pre-sale will be available for Santander American Express clients for 48 hours or until pre-sale tickets are sold out.

This is McCartney’s return after his last show in 2019. Tickets for that show sold out in a matter of minutes. His first appearance in the country dates back to 1993, and he has played eight shows in Argentina since then.

McCartney launched the “Got Back Tour” in 2022, with 16 shows in the United States, followed by a triumphant gig at Glastonbury Festival that year. Eighteen more shows were added to the tour, which included Australia, Mexico and Brazil.

Last year, DF Entertainment head and legendary music promoter Daniel Grinbank complained that the country’s economic crisis and currency controls had prevented him from securing tour dates in the country. He said this led to McCartney using the dates that were planned for Argentina to add more gigs in Brazil, where he ultimately played nine shows in December.

Paul McCartney cryptically teases 2024 tour

Paul McCartney could be heading back onto the road in 2024 for another concert tour .

In a social media post from June 9, McCartney shared a video of a case being shut. It appears to be one that would hold music equipment and instruments for a tour.

No caption was shared with the video. However, one of McCartney’s guitarists, Rusty Anderson, added fuel to the fire . He reposted the video with the caption, “Hmmm…”

His other guitarist, Brian Ray, also reposted the video on his story.

Both Ray and Anderson have been a part of McCartney’s touring band since 2002. Paul “Wix” Wickens and Abe Laboriel Jr. are also a part of the band.

A 2024 Paul McCartney tour

It would be a big deal if Paul McCartney tours in 2024. He recently embarked on the “Got Back” tour from 2022-2023. Since Wings broke up, McCartney has gone on 17 concert tours. His current touring band has been with him since the 2002 “Driving Rain” tour.

The tour commenced on April 28, 2022, with a show in Spokane, Washington. Throughout the next couple of months, McCartney and his touring band traveled across North America. The first leg of the tour concluded on June 16, 2022, with a show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The tour continued with a headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival in England. He would resume the tour in October 2023 with shows in Australia, Mexico, and Brazil.

It’s unknown whether or not this impending tour announcement would mark a new tour or a continuation of the “Got Back” tour.

Who is Paul McCartney?

Paul McCartney is best known for his time with the Beatles. He was one of the primary songwriters of the Fab Four along with John Lennon. The band was together for a decade between 1960-70 and released 13 studio albums.

After the band broke up, Macca got to work with his first studio album, McCartney. He subsequently released Ram, which he recorded with his life Linda McCartney, and the first Wings album, Wild Life, in 1971.

Throughout the seventies, McCartney and Wings released six more albums including Band on the Run. McCartney will soon release a remastered live studio album, One Hand Clapping, from his time with Wings.

Since 1980, McCartney has released 17 studio albums. That doesn’t include the five classical albums and three albums with The Fireman that he recorded.

His most recent studio album completed a trilogy of McCartney albums. McCartney III came out in 2020 and came out over 40 years after McCartney II. A remix edition of the album, McCartney III Imagined, was subsequently released in 2021. The likes of Idris Elba, Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, and Dominic Fike contributed to the album.

As an artist, McCartney has been nominated for 81 Grammy Awards. He has won 18 awards throughout his illustrious career. His most recent nominations came at the 2022 Grammys when he was nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for McCartney III and “Find My Way,” respectively.

In the past year,  The   Sunday Times  reports, the 81-year-old music icon boosted his wealth by £50million. This will have been aided by his time touring across 2023 and the lucrative value of his lengthy discography.

It will also have been aided no doubt by the release of  ‘Now And Then’ – the “final” song by The Beatles to feature all four members, which was shared in November – and the re-release of their 1970 documentary  Let It Be .
