Wonderful experience. A great fairy tale! Thanks to all the staff for their guidance and smiles.

The garden is amazing during the day and on its own. If you have the opportunity to visit during the night, with great music, lights, special effects; bubbles, music, food, drinks, and art installations it becomes magical. Easy parking, polite and friendly staff, not crowded and safe. Take the kids, and enjoy it - worth it.

A dream come true!

Tour guide speaking to group

Over 20 Years of Excellence!

The owner was very helpful in booking our tour. Cedric was hands down amazing!!!! He made the tour very fun, and if I go back and take another tour, I want him as my tour guide!!! Spooky and informative, we learned a lot about the ghosts and graveyards of New Orleans!! This is a must do tour if you go to NOLA, and make sure you get Cedric!

Rose was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. She went really deep describing folklore, historical, societal, and cultural origins of vampires that mirror our fears and perceptions reflecting it back to us. All of these were done in a way that made us able to relate and think deep about who we are.

I highly recommend this tour if you want to dig a little deeper and learn what New Orleans was and is all about and how it came to be the city we see nowadays. Thus a very, very interesting tour given by Toast, who's is an excellent storyteller, with a solid knowledge of history, funny anecdotes and music.

We toured with Toast (yes tour guide was named Toast), who was absolutely amazing. He told us numerous different stories of the area including hauntings and other parts of New Orleans history. He was incredibly entertaining and the two hours flew by. We went to several different graveyard sites as well as a local park and the old Charity Hospital.

We booked the French Quarter Ghost Tour and it was so much fun. Katrice was an absolute professional when dealing with less than ideal participants and the general rowdy public. She was engaging, educational, and the highlight of our night. We loved hearing the history and the stories as we walked the quarter.

Suzhou night tour program awarded by UNESCO institute

字号变大 | 字号变小

World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO announced the 2023 edition of Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases recently. A Graceful Night Tour in the Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Museum , a night tour program launched by Suzhou, was recognized as the Star of Outstanding.

The night tour program of the Humble Administrator's Garden is a cultural and tourism innovative product based on World Heritage Site, and the country's first and only protection and utilization project on World Heritage Site that has been fully assessed by China World Cultural Heritage Monitoring Center. With new media and techniques introduced, the night tour program has extended to Suzhou Museum adjacent to the garden, and thus combined the beauty of classical gardens and modern architecture.

In the meantime, the program has created a new model to utilize World Cultural Heritage by strictly following the principle of developing cultural heritage in a limited and sustainable way, avoiding intervention in the protection of relics, and conserving the habitat of animals. All the equipment used in the program can be disassembled and recycled, which has zero impact on the structures and relics.

The long-expected night tour program of the Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Museum will return on the Mid-Autumn Festival. You can bring the passport and buy the same-day ticket at the ticket office拙政园自助预约. Remember to get there early since the tickets are limited every day.

Where to find the Garden District of New Orleans

Fun fact: The Garden District is part of Uptown New Orleans – meaning upriver from the Mississippi River (as opposed to downtown/downriver).

The Garden District was the product of American settlers who wished to distance themselves from the Creoles who had already settled in the French Quarter. Today, the Garden District is still one of the most upscale parts of town, where the city’s wealthiest residents and most famous celebrities live and grand mansions can be found. The Garden District is beautiful year-round, and there is never a wrong time to visit.

When most people think of the Garden District, they envision high-end shopping on Magazine Street, massive mansions lined with ancient oak trees, the hauntingly beautiful Lafayette No. 1 (which is unfortunately closed at the time of this writing), and more of that fantastic Creole and Cajun food that the city is known for .

Well, if that’s what you were thinking, you were right! Here’s what to do in the Garden District, as told by your local guides-

What is The Garden District

Visit The Rink

A small collection of shops, a cafe, and a bookstore are housed in what was once a skating rink. The Rink is home to the Garden District Bookshop, a favorite of the late Anne Rice. The author would have an event here every time she released a book, and today the bookshop is a great place to find signed and original copies. Across the hall, also in The Rink, you can stop for an espresso shot and a bathroom break at The Chicory House.

Picnic in The Park

New Orleans has several places to walk, jog, or picnic, and one of our favorites is in the Garden District. On the way to the Garden District, Lafayette Square is bordered by Poydras Street and St. Charles Avenue, across from the historical Gallier Hall, former City Hall. The site of inaugurations, yearly pilgrimages by school bands, and jazz concerts for over 150 years, the Square is a lively place for a picnic in the park.

Coliseum Square Park is located nearby the Garden District (28748 Coliseum St, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States). A serene green space with large towering oaks, a water fountain, park benches, and plenty of grassy picnic spots, Coliseum is a local fav for good reason.

Audubon park.

Audubon Park is a public park located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It covers an area of approximately 350 acres and is located in the Uptown neighborhood of the city, adjacent to Tulane University and Loyola University. Audubon Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, and features a wide range of amenities and attractions. Some of the highlights of the park include: The Audubon Zoo: Located within the park, the Audubon Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals from around the world, including lions, tigers, elephants, and more. The Audubon Golf Course: A beautiful 18-hole golf course that is open to the public. The Tree of Life: A massive oak tree that is estimated to be over 600 years old and is a popular spot for picnics and relaxation. The Fly: A scenic overlook that offers stunning views of the Mississippi River. In addition to these attractions, Audubon Park also has several walking and jogging trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, and other amenities. It is a popular spot for outdoor recreation and relaxation in the heart of New Orleans.

Some drinks like Sazerac, the Hurricane, Vieux Carre, and the French 75 were born right here in the Big Easy! Other notable drinks include Bloody Marys, Ramos Gin Fizz, and Grasshopper. Here’s where to drink in the Garden District-

Columns is a great place to grab a cocktail.

Courtyard Brewery Folks head to Courtyard Brewery for its tasting room, perfect for beer connoisseurs. This brewery is an all-around great place to hang out, and the vibes here are inclusive, laidback, and welcoming. Specialties at Courtyard include a 3-barrel brewing system, IPAs, and Saisons.

Parasol’s We love Parasol’s, a dive bar with Cajun food and a locally-famous Roast Beef’ Po-boy. A block away from Magazine Street, Parasol’s is low-key all years, except for during their legendary St. Patty’s Day parties.

The Columns Classy but not stuffy, The Columns Restaurant & Bar inside the hotel of the same name is a favorite Garden District meeting spot. The Italianate mansion’s moody charm and craft cocktails make for great photo backdrops and good times.

Spectacular Summer

June 1 – september 30.

From colourful florals in the day to subtle plays of light and shadow in the evening, summer offers breathtaking drama as day fades into night.

Our Summer at a Glance provides a snapshot of our daily operations to help you plan your visit this summer season.

  • Summer Firework Saturdays

night tour garden

Saturday evenings in July and August, bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy our world-class firework show with your friends and family. Each show features original aerial and ground displays choreographed to music and designed by Jennie Butchart’s great-grandson Christopher Ross. Fireworks are included with your admission to The Gardens.

Fireworks are presented under permit after weekly consultation with the Central Saanich Fire Department and may be cancelled due to extreme weather. Admission tickets are non-refundable, but retain their value and can be used at a later date. Please check back for updates.

How long is the Firework display?

The show is approximately 30 minutes in length, set to music and is a combination of aerial and ground structure displays.

When should we arrive? Am I able to leave and come back later?

Readmission is not permitted on Firework Saturdays, so we suggest that you arrive in the afternoon.   Entertainment will begin on our Concert Lawn stage 3 hours prior to Fireworks show time.   We have many Food Services options and a Seed & Gift Store to peruse to also help wile away the time.  Should you wish to visit with us the next day, when the gardens may be quieter, you can purchase a single next day readmission for an additional $3.70 tax included.  You must also present your original admission ticket which our staff will collect from you upon re-entry.

How long does it take to exit after the Fireworks show?

Exiting can take upwards of 30 minutes.

May we bring our own lawn chairs and blankets for the fireworks?

You are welcome to bring your lawn chair (all varieties permitted), and set it up in the clearly designated ‘lawn chair section’ on the Fireworks Viewing Lawn.   We ask that blankets not be unfolded until after 4pm as they can trap heat underneath them, and damage the lawns.  After 4pm, visitors can set out their blankets to reserve their spot and then continue on to enjoy the Gardens until closer to showtime.  We have wooden benches set out on our Concert Lawn that you are welcome to use while enjoying the stage entertainment prior to the fireworks.

Do you allow outside food and drinks?

Outside food is allowed during your visit, however, alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Do you allow picnics within the gardens?

There are two picnic tables located close to our Information Centre (if you ask a staff member there, they will point them out to you).  Additionally, we have several picnic tables in the green spaces of our parking lots.  Picnicking on the grassy areas/lawns within the Gardens is not permitted except for the Concert Lawn and Fireworks Viewing Lawn.  Please note that BBQs are not permitted.

What happens if the forecast is for rain or inclement weather?

As the fireworks are an outdoor event, they are subjected to the elements.  Rain and wind may result in small changes to the performance, but the show will go on! We will have complimentary umbrellas and ‘bum mats’ available for visitors to use and we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing on these evenings.

May I bring my pet on Firework Saturdays?

We strongly recommend that you do not bring your pets as they can be very frightened and distressed by fireworks.  The temperature is often too warm during the summer months to leave your pet in your vehicle and doing so can upset other visitors whom become concerned for your pet’s safety.

Is my 12 Month Pass valid of Firework Saturdays?

Admission restrictions apply on Firework Saturdays. 12 Month Passes are not valid after 4:00pm on Firework Saturdays days. 12 Month Pass holders who arrive for a daytime visit on a Firework Saturday will be charged our full Adult rate which will be fully refunded if they depart by 4:00pm. Pass holders will be parked at the south end of the Bus Parking Lot and must enter and exit The Gardens through the Turnstiles. Please note that close parking will not be available on these days.

Heighten your fireworks experience with seating in the private viewing area. Enjoy close parking, and reserved seating. Subject to availability.

RATES Adult : $275 Youth: $255 Child: $238 Rates in Canadian dollars  include  tax.

Please call 250-652-4422 ext 320 to reserve.

Entertainment

Evenings throughout July and August, you can take in a live performance from our outdoor stage on the Concert Lawn. Nestled amidst lush trees, the stage plays host to a variety of performers. Summer concerts are included with your admission ticket.

2024 Summer Entertainment performances Wednesday through Saturday evenings.

Night Illuminations

Summer welcomes colourful Delphiniums, setting the stage for our Rose Garden. Once the Delphiniums have finished blooming, we find our rhythm, a pattern of deadheading Roses, replanting flower beds and dispersing insects to help control pests. We routinely drive by this location and have talked about going and trying it for so long now since I've never had curry pizza in general, and last week I finally got the chance to! We got the Tandoori Chicken Pizza and the Curry Veggie Delight Pizza. Both were very tasty! I personally liked the tandoori chicken better, there was so much flavor! The thin crust was also very crispy and crunchy, but not hard. Staff was also very friendly and helpful--we called ahead with questions on some of the dietary restrictions (note: the vegan cheese does NOT contain any nut products)--and the staff was very kind in helping us and answering our questions. I would definitely recommend Curry Pizza House, especially the Sunnyvale location!

Tandoori Chicken Pizza

We've been a fan of Curry Pizza House around the East Bay, so knowing how consistent their food usually is we decided to try their Sunnyvale location for the first time! I placed an order for to go online via their website. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken Pizza and the Desi Sticks. Both were good! Things that could've been better: desi sticks were a little dry and toasty on the exterior, and the chicken on the tandoori pizza were just huuuge and kept falling off of the pizza with every bite. Otherwise, the flavor profiles were all there! As far as ambiance goes, the location here is just okay. It's probably more ideal for grab and gos, as there's only 1-2 tables. There was a homeless man sleeping riiight outside the entrance / against the window of the business too lol. The service could've been better in general too. Unsure if I'd come back to this location, but eh it made for a decent dinner (plus they're open late!).

Unfortunately, our large half and half pizza that cost us almost $50 through uber eats lacked any Indian flavor. we got half butter chicken and half shahi paneer. It tasted like a cheese american pizza. Veggies, chicken, or paneer lacked any flavor. It was a decent size that could be split among 4 people if it tasted good. Seeing all the great reviews is what made me order. Maybe it was a difference from ordering via uber eats?? But we won't be back.

Really good pizza! We got the chicken masala and it was very filling and delicious for two people, plus got an orange soda. We ordered pickup and it came just in time as we arrived so we ate indoors. It was a Monday night so it was nearly empty with music and music videos playing on the screen. Each table has plenty of napkins and the employee was also nice, asking if we needed plates. Would come again for a pizza craving!

Worst managed place. There's never anyone at the counter to receive customers, nobody answers phone calls ever. The staff cannot figure out why a coupon doesn't work or why I can't use my reward points. They would tell me 25 mins on phone, I reach after 30 mins and still they would keep me waiting for 15 mins. You cant speak to anyone because the staff is in the kitchen.

Great-tasting curry pizza in the South Bay-- it was my first time trying it in the area! The owner was very helpful from the moment we walked in. My party visibly had been struggling what to chose for our order and he was very patient. We ended up ordering a half and half 1/2 Gourmet veggie 1/2 Butter chicken Both selections were nice and airy bread, buttery to the bite, and loaded with great flavor! Definitely have this added to my bookmarks for revisiting! Pictures to be included next time.

Must have been a short staffed day and ordering our food was delayed but their half chicken tikka and half pesto chicken is amazing. Having options to customize and eating fresh ingredients is so great to have! Coming back when I'm in town again.

I just ordered my first curry pizza house pizza yesterday and was very excited to try it - I ordered a small curry chicken masala pizza and was expecting a wonderful combination of Indian flavors and sauces. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed with my pizza in that a.) it was pretty small for $20 and b.) it wasn't spicy at all despite specifying "extra, extra hot" on my order. The pizza was edible, but it wasn't anything to write home about and not at all what I expected for Indian pizza. I understand that they may not have been able to cater to all specific requests such as "extra, extra hot" - but there wasn't even a sprinkle of red chili flakes on it (which I definitely expected for $20 for a small). And the masala oomph was also missing which was greatly disappointing. Unfortunately I think I'll have to look elsewhere the next time a craving for spicy pizza hits.

Photo of Purva G.

The guy running this place is a total jerk. He has zero experience in customer service and doesn't know how to use the POS system. I had many reward points in my accounts but wasn't able to use those and this guy just shrugged it off like I was asking him for a free pizza. Another day I asked him if my coupon was applied on the order and his response was "What coupon?". Then after some argument, I noticed on his POS that the coupon was applied. He simply had to look at his screen and say yes but he is too dumb for that. The person is also extremely rude and doesn't answer any question straight. He would keep throwing excuses like "its very busy today" or "i'm the only one working" but not once accept his mistake. They need to find somebody else who has some basic training for how to manage customers.

Photo of Anselm M.

Nicest guy works there (maybe owns it?). Gave us free bottled water while we waited, and said all the right things to make us feel welcomed. More importantly, the Indian pizza was delicious. We got half and half pizzas so that we could try more and they were both very good. Very small place so there's not really room to dine in any more than a few people. Prices and standard. $30 for a large pizza.

10 Night-Blooming Flower Ideas for Your Very Own Moon Garden

Long summer nights in the backyard just got better.

Marc Hachadourian , curator of Glasshouse Collections at the New York Botanical Garden and an orchid expert, says such flowers exist in several categories. “There are some flowers that only open after dark and then close as the sun rises the next morning. Some of these plants have flowers that last just one single night and others will have blooms that will open and close for more than one day,” he tells us. “There are also many plants that are not fragrant during the day but at night produce tremendous and powerful fragrances.”

Take one look at Google and you’ll see that the list of night-blooming flowers (of the fragrant or non-fragrant varieties, as well as those with brief lifespans or enduring ones) is lengthy and hard to navigate. If you’re looking for the definitive answer to what the best night-bloomers are for elevating your midnight garden to Shakespearean levels, we’ve got you covered—just in time for the peak of summer .

“With the idea of people’s gardens becoming an additional room for living, why not increase your ability to enjoy a garden after dark by planting things that can entice you into the night air?” Hachadourian asks. “What better place to be lounging than in a cool garden in the evening, drink in hand, enjoying the fragrance of these blooms after dark?”

We could not agree more. With invaluable input from four floral designers and horticulture experts, here’s a guide to the top 10 flowers that bloom at night. Get ready for your outdoor space to look like a Pinterest board (you can thank us later).

Casa Blanca Lily

a casa blanca lily in a snow white color with rich red pollen pods

The Casa Blanca lily ( lilium 'Casa Blanca' ) is an overachiever: It’s one of those rare night-bloomers that does just as well in a garden setting as in a bespoke bouquet arrangement. The hybrid perennial starts from an onion-like bulb and grows to develop huge, pure white petals; tall stems; reddish anthers (the pollen-bearing structures in their middles); and an intense, unforgettable fragrance. Lindsay Irwin , lead floral designer at PlantShed New York and owner of a Brooklyn-based floral company , says caring for Casa Blanca lilies (which she calls true “bang for your buck” flowers) is not as low-maintenance as it seems. “A tip is definitely cutting [the anthers] out. I will usually put the lilies upside down over a trash can and use a fork to get all the pollen,” Irwin says. To ensure the maximum number of blooms open on any given lily stem, Irwin suggests cutting off the ones already in full bloom: Then, according to her, the energy will go from the stem to the not-yet-bloomed flowers and increase the likelihood of opening. Note that, whether you choose to plant your Casa Blancas in the soil or plop them in a vase, their blossoms are toxic to pets—so keep Fido away while enjoying them yourself.

a close up shot of polianthes tuberosa flowers in the garden

There’s no wonder brands from Diptyque to Jo Malone have “tapped” this flower and put it in a fragrance bottle—the tuberose (aka Agave amica ) is a mid-summer bloomer that loves its sun (same) and has a smell that sits at the intersection of sweet and spicy. While, according to Lindsay Irwin, tuberose might not have as much of what she calls “heroine power” or main character energy as its Casa Blanca lily counterpart, she thinks it's a very unique “secondary flower.” Tuberose blooms’ star shape makes them great for indoor arrangements, especially when properly color graded in a bouquet. “One of my favorite things to do as a [floral] designer is to have colors blend into each other. I love having blush flowers with white flowers, but then also having touches of light green and a more pigmented pink.” We see a tuberose, craspedia , and Bells of Ireland bouquet collab in your near future.

close up of white gardenias with lush leaves

Gardenias ( Gardenia jasminoides ) are night-bloomers with one of the most intense scents in the game. Thanks to their waxy, dark green leaves and strikingly white petals (do you notice a color trend here?), they aren’t exactly what you’d call “background blooms.” Jean-Pascal Lemire , an L.A.-based master of florals who we interviewed back in 2019, says his floral studio never mixes the gardenia with anything else. “It's too precious to be mixed. We’d rather have a beautiful bowl with water and let the gardenias float on top,” he tells us.

Lemire also gives some vital words of advice for freshly minted gardenia fans: “When you touch it without gloves, the oil on your fingers will make the gardenia brown,” Lemire says. “It starts pure white, and then in two, three days, it gets to be a very buttery yellow—that's when you know it's at the end [of its lifespan], but this is also the time when it smells the most.” Gardenias love their moist soil and work overtime to attract moths (hence their scent, which seduces insects and humans alike).

el salvador nature bees sucking the nectar from night blooming jasmine flowers

New York Botanical Garden’s Marc Hachadourian surprised us when he revealed that night-blooming jasmine ( Cestrum nocturnum ) is a member of the tomato family, of all things. “When jasmine blooms, most people don't notice the flowers. They're kind of inconspicuous, but at night the fragrance is so strong that it can drive you out of the room!” Hachadourian says, describing the heavy, syrupy scent jasmine is known for. “When you tell people it's these tiny green things [emitting the smell], they're in shock that something so small could be so powerful.”

Flowering Tobacco

ornamental tobacco nicotiana alata flowers with pinkish blossoms

Nicotiana alata flowers, commonly known as flowering tobacco, share characteristics with a pack of Marlboros in name only. They smell absolutely heavenly at night… and only at night. “Quite often during the day [Nicotiana] has no detectable fragrance, but at night, it could practically knock you over,” Hachadourian says.

Part of NYBG’s plant collection , this flower is better suited for gardens and greenhouses than for the inside of your home. According to Gardens Illustrated , it has brittle, clingy leaves that you must separate slowly and carefully—as well as an urge to spread out that makes it underperform when pot-bound. Nicotianas are notable magnets for hummingbirds, so be sure to grab your camera when observing them next.

ipomoea indica moonflower in a striking blue color

Moonflowers ( Ipomoea alba ) are the delicate, “night owlish” cousins of morning glories—limited-time-only attractions whose moth and bat-attracting blooms last but a night. “[The moonflower] is a vine,” says Jim Sutton, senior horticultural display designer at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. “The only drawback is you have to let the vine grow quite a bit before it flowers, but once it starts to flower, it will continue to do so until the weather starts to get cold. If you had a trellis or an arbor, it would be a wonderful plant to have there.”

As a tropical flower, the moonflower adores bright light and heat, meaning “the indoor home environment generally is not conducive to good flowering,” according to Sutton. Moonflowers, like most other night-bloomers on our list, are commonly white (pictured here are the related Ipomoea indica blue blooms). Sutton says this is a strategic choice tailored to pollinators who like the color, along with the heat and fragrance emitted by the flowers.

Angel's Trumpet

angels trumpets flowers in an orange color

Part of the nightshade family, Angel’s trumpets ( Brugmansia ) have bell-like blooms that can make a tropical paradise out of any outdoor or indoor space (yes, you can bring these babies inside). “This is more of a tropical shrub," Sutton says. “It flourishes in the heat of the summer and has long flowers that hang down in all kinds of colors, from yellow to pink to white.”

Being the heavy feeders that they are, Angel’s trumpets take hydration very seriously. Watering them regularly is a must (especially in indoor setups), and the soil should be well-draining, per Martha Stewart . Sutton is an advocate for achieving the proper placement, light exposure, and soil quality for any given plant. He thus recommends you "plant [Angel’s trumpets] at a good depth, in rich, organic soil that gets plenty of sunlight.”

Amazon Water Lily

pond filled with giant amazon water lilies and a boat wading through

This one is for those of us out there with water gardens and ponds in their backyard (jealous!). The Amazon water lily ( Victoria amazonica ) is expert Marc Hachadourian’s all-time favorite night-bloomer, not only because of its smell (“like an overripe pineapple,” he remarks) but also its enchanting pollination story. “Beetles come after dark, they get held in the flower during the day, and they get released the next evening into the night air. It's kind of this fascinating biology of that particular species, showing the wonderful and intricate relationships that plants have with their pollinators.”

Hachadourian designs NYBG’s famous water lily pools and loves incorporating the Amazon water lily; after all, the garden hosts many evening events in which only this particular kind of plant can become the star of the show once the sun goes down. “This wouldn't be the first time that people plant what they call ‘moon gardens,’ in which you have either night-fragrance plants, white flowers, or combinations of silver foliages,” Hachadourian says. “It was a popular thing for a while: for people to plant gardens that could be appreciated by moonlight.” This lily's pads measure up to eight feet across , so only invest in it if your pond is big big.

Mock Orange

mock orange blossom with a moth on them

With a scent similar to orange blossoms, this deciduous shrub (scientific name: Philadelphus coronarius ) has adorably cup-shaped, four-petaled flowers that come alive in the early summer. Rich with nectar, they’re great for keeping outdoors if you’re interested in creating your very own pollinator garden. However, snipping off some blooms for an impromptu bouquet is not a crime (especially when they’re artfully arranged in your space and make you happy). Jean-Pascal Lemire urges everyone to keep these flowers—and pretty much any other ones you place indoors—away from drafts and in a cool environment to prevent them from sweating (“basically, the conditions you have during the summer when you lower your blinds”). “When flowers sweat, they use energy for that. That's how the pedals start ruffling, and then it goes downhill from there. So the cooler it is [in your home], the longer they're going to stay alive,” Lemire says.

Queen of the Night Cactus

night blooming cactus called queen of the night with orchid like blooms

Succulent fans, assemble! Queen of the Night's ( Cereus hildmannianus ) flowers open after dark and fade in a matter of hours, but, in the meantime, it manages to flaunt intricate geometric blooms often compared to those of orchids (according to Planet Neutral , which shares that “shady, warm, and humid spots replicating their tropical forest habitat” are this cactus’s best friends). “When it comes to houseplants, most people kill them with kindness by overwatering them,” Jim Sutton says, advising a Goldilocks approach to making sure they're hydrated. These particular cacti bloom only once a year (in June or July, usually), so it’s a good thing you don’t need to reserve front row tickets, months in advance, to witness this stunning natural spectacle.
