The region has been inhabited by Berber farmers since Neolithic times. The city was founded in 1070 by Emir Abu Bakr ibn Umar as the imperial capital of the Almoravid Empire. The Almoravids established the first major structures in the city and shaped its layout for centuries to come. The red walls of the city, built by Ali ibn Yusuf in 1122–1123, and various buildings constructed in red sandstone afterwards, have given the city the nickname of the “Red City” .

Viagem fantastica entre amigos , 8 dias passados com Mahmoud e Azdin como guia e ajudante , primeira vez em Marrocos para a grande maioria dos participantes , comida topo, paisagens topo , acompanhamento perfeito em qualquer situação, viagem inesquecível a repetir. Trek exceptionnel pour des paysages époustouflants du moyen Atlas marocain avec une équipe d'encadrant au TOP ! Ce trek est et restera un souvenir mémorable tant par la nature de cette escapade (entre 1600m et 3600m de dénivelé), sa richesse en émotions avec le groupe et l'équipe atlasepictrek : dormir par groupe de 2 ou 3 sous une tente ça rapproche bien, se soutenir mutuellement pendant 3 jours d'escalade, partager des repas typiques de la région ou insolites après chaque journée d'efforts, sans oublier le partage du thé en pleine nature... Les guides, natifs de la région, très à l'aise avec les langues (anglais, français, allemand,...) sont à l'écoute de chacun créant ainsi une proximité qui permet à chacun de se surpasser. La logistique extraordinaire (préparation du camps, des repas, …) au vu de l'environnement de montagne, permet de profiter au maximum de cette expérience. Je recommande totalement la Team atlasepictrek pour vos prochaines aventures quel que soit votre niveau, avec Mahmoud en chef de rang qui est au petit soins avec chacun et qui connait tous les secrets de Marrakech et de ses environs. C'était ma deuxième ascension du Toubkal. La première avait la particularité d'avoir atteint le plus haut sommet du Maroc pour la première fois. La deuxième sa particularité était de connaître une équipe qui te rend l'ascension avec un vrai goût de l'aventure. Une équipe qui te rassure, qui t'accompagne et surtout te motive à ne jamais baisser les brasou d'abondonner. Nous avons, mes amis et moi, passé avec Atlas Epic Trek 3 nuits, dont 2 en plein nature et la 3ème au refuge du Toubkal. Ils nous ont permis de découvrir des paysages époustouflants, sentir la beauté de la nature, des cascades, franchir des cols,.. Merci à AET pour leur professionnalisme, leur gentillesse, leur écoute et surtout leur encadrement rassurant. Vous avez envie de découvrir circuit de randonnée, de trek,..
