Elton John Announces Final ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ North American Tour Dates

Elton John has announced the final shows for the North American leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour , which run through November.

The 11 new tour dates include additional shows in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Foxborough, Massachusetts; Phoenix, Arizona; Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. A third show has also been added to his run at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Tickets for the new slate of concerts go on sale April 6 at 10 a.m. local time via John’s website , with a limited number of VIP packages and American Express card member presale tickets available beginning on March 30 at 10 a.m. local time.

“It’s hard to believe that after tomorrow in St. Louis, I’ll have just a handful of shows left before I wrap up my final arena performances in the United States,” John said in a statement. “This year will see my grand finale in North America, playing stadiums all around the country, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I cherish these memories we’re making together. It has been nothing short of incredible and I look forward to seeing you very soon one last time, on my Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.”

John’s epic farewell tour has experienced some bumps along the way, including the postponement of two Dallas shows in January after the musician was diagnosed with Covid-19. At the time, he had just resumed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour  after a nearly two-year delay  caused by the pandemic , as well as an  ill-timed hip injury .

Earlier this month, the singer shared a new video for “ Finish Line ,” his collaborative track with Stevie Wonder that appears on John’s all-star 2021 album, The Lockdown Sessions .

Elton John Unveils Final ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ Tour Dates

Three and a half years after Elton John announced his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour,” after an unavoidable pandemic delay, he has finally unveiled the closing stadium dates of that tour. It will make a final lap across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand next year after the conclusion of the arena dates rescheduled from 2020 . The rescheduled 2020 dates begin in Germany on Sept. 1 and cover North America from January to April 2022.

The final stretch will kick off on May 27, 2022 in Germany, then move to North America, beginning in Philadelphia in July, and will wrap in November with a pair of dates at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the site of an iconic Elton performance some 47 years earlier. 2023 kicks off with two shows in Auckland New Zealand on January 27 and 28, followed by soon-to-be-announced dates in Australia before the tour formally concludes there later that year. The tour will end nearly five years after its opening date in Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 8, 2018.

Announcing the final dates, Elton John said, “Hello, all you wonderful fans out there. I’m coming to you today with an announcement I’ve been working towards for, well, all my life: the shows that I announce today will be my final tour dates ever in North America and Europe. I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career. The show is a crowd-pleasing tour de force of his biggest hits, designed to tug at the audience’s heartstrings as well as Elton’s own. Variety , reviewing the tour’s 70th show in New York in March of 2019, wrote: “He drops in enough deep cuts to keep the musicians and veteran fans on their toes (the second song he played was the 1973 deep cut “All the Girls Love Alice”), yet the set was so packed with hits that he’d reeled off “Bennie and the Jets,” “Tiny Dancer,” “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues,” “Border Song” and “Philadelphia Freedom” in the first half hour, and he’d barely scraped the surface.”

While this may be his final tour, it seems unlikely that it marks the end of Elton’s career as a performer — an irrepressible showman and die-hard music fan (who manages to host a remarkably contemporary weekly radio show , with an emphasis on new artists, on Apple Music 1), he will probably play spot dates and make television and other appearances for as long as he feels able.

Public on-sales begin Tuesday, June 29 in Europe and Wednesday, June 30 in North America.

Ahead of the stadium run, Elton will mark his return to the stage this Fall in Europe on September 1 at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, then later to North America on January 19, 2022 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Elton John bids farewell to the road with the last show on his goodbye tour

Elton John preformed to over 6 million fans across 330 shows in his farewell tour.

With glitz, glam and golden confetti, Elton John performed on tour for the last time on Saturday.

The final concert was set in Stockholm, Sweden. It wrapped up the British singer's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, which spanned over five years, 330 shows and 16 Gucci suits. The tour is considered the highest-grossing in Billboard Boxscore history. Last month, it became the first tour ever to make more than $900 million.

Elton John was moved to tears by a surprise award from President Biden

"What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it," John wrote on Instagram before the show.

The show included several of John's signature songs, including Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man and Candle in the Wind.

In heart-shaped pink sunglasses, he thanked his fans for their support throughout the decades.

"You have no idea what it means to me, your kindness. I've had the most wonderful career," he said. "How lucky am I to play music. But I wouldn't be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn't for you."

The worldwide, farewell tour kicked off in 2018, but was forced to pause in 2020 for nearly two-years due to the pandemic. Last month, the 76-year-old gave his final U.K. performance while headlining the Glastonbury Festival.

In 2021, the international pop star told NPR that he looked forward to retiring from tour so that he could spend more time with his children.

Following his recently announced dates in Europe, beginning September 1, 2021 in Berlin (tour dates here ), the tour will kick off again in North America on January 19, 2022, in New Orleans, making stops in major markets, including Houston , Chicago , Toronto , New York , Miami and more. The latest dates on sale are arena shows which were rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Miller Lite Beer Garden, located between Gates 3 & 5, will be open from 4pm - 8pm. Food and beverage options will be available for fans to enjoy before the show.

Sir Elton John, is a singer, composer, pianist and all round British national treasure who has been blessing the world with his talents for decades.

Born in 1947 as Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Elton experienced a fairly restrictive childhood growing up in Middlesex. His musical talents were clear from an early age, taking up the piano aged 3 and getting a scholarship to the Royal Academy of music at 11.

After a turbulent relationship with Elton’s father, who expressed very little interest in the young musician, Elton’s mother divorced and remarried. The new couple helped Elton secure a job as a pub pianist where he worked until he formed a now legendary partnership with Bernie Taupin in 1967, following an advert in the NME,.

With Bernie writing the lyrics and Elton the music (a tried and tested method that still works today), the duo began writing popular works for other artists such as ‘LuLu’ before beginning on Elton’s solo material. The release of Elton’s self-titled second album saw him take the first leap towards stardom. It spawned the hit single ‘Your Song’ and landed the album at number 4 and 5 on the US charts respectively.

1972’s ‘Honky Chateau’ became Elton’s first number one album and would be followed by 6 more consecutively, most famously ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ which stayed at the top spot for two months.

Outside of music, Elton has been a important figure for LGBT rights around the world. He publicly came out in 1988 and has since been a vocal figure for important social causes such as the AIDS crisis and gay marriage in the UK.

Elton John is an amazing singer but lastnight at Cardiff City Stadium was such a disappointment. The sound quality was absolutely dreadful. The sound Tech staff should hang their heads in shame. Our night was ruined from the minute the music started.

The speakers in the centre of the stadium were about 1-2 seconds delayed so there was a constant echo. If you didn’t know the words to the songs then you wouldn’t know what the hell he was singing because of the poor quality. I don’t expect to pay the money we did to see a mega star on his Farewell tour to listen to it like we had to. Everyone we spoke to was disappointed.

Then there was the security....or should I say lack of...? We entered via gate 9, I had a tag put on my bag saying it had been checked. The guy never even looked inside. No personal searches were done & no one was scanned either. DISGUSTING. In this day and age where terrorism & knife crime is at its worst in the Uk, I would expect more....ALOT more. May I remind the event organisers/security team of The Manchester Arena bombing....seriously. People were entering with rucksacks, large shopping bags, golf umbrellas that could be used as weapons had there been fights etc. Then we witnessed the stewards on the pitch chatting to each other, texting, filming Elton John & basically doing everything BUT supervise the crowds. An Absolute shambles from start to end.

I will certainly remember this concert but NOT for the right reasons.

Everyone who stepped into that stadium lastnight was FAILED & LET DOWN.

There aren’t many artists who have sold more then 300 million records worldwide, but Elton John is one of these superstar legends. His single ‘Candle in the Wind’ selling 33 million copies alone, there are few who could even dream of topping that. The scope of his work is remarkable, from singer-songwriter music through to songs for feature films. And a knighthood from the Queen? Goodness me Elton!

Part of the magic of his performances is seeing him sit alone at his piano, accompanying himself and improvising to his own score. Over the years of course, his voice has grown weaker, but the magic remains and his performances do not lose their power, as he is backed up by a stellar band. One man holding the attention of an arena audience seems like an incredible feat, but Elton John at home on the stage, has this down to a tee. Aiming to please the audience, he always provides a selection of his great hits as well as some of the lesser known tracks from his older albums for some variation, something that usually pleases the hungry crowd.

50 years of performances, and Elton John’s stamina remains incredibly impressive, and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket, you can expect to watch a performance of anything up to 2 hours, and I promise, it will fly by!

I have been an Elton John fan since the 70s and this concert in Roanoke was the first chance I have had to see him and The Elton John Band perform live. It exceeded any possible expectations!! The sound live is so all encompassing, the piano so mesmerizing and so many of my favorite EJ songs! To hear 'Your Song' done in concert is just the most beautiful experience! Other numbers especially noteworthy in this concert were 'Philadelphia Freedom', 'I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues', 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' and one of his newest songs 'Good Heart'. The encore finale number of 'Crocodile Rock' just blows away any recording of it I have ever heard, phenomenal concert!! No other performer I have ever seen went the whole concert the way Elton John did, just amazing, I am so thankful I went and I would see him again if he tours anywhere I can reasonably get to. AMAZING, you will regret it if you miss the opportunity to hear this iconic performer and his band! The concert was AWESOME! It was the first time I saw Elton in Concert. I have every album he has made and grew up with his music. The concert was one I will never forget. Even though I enjoy all the instruments and artists in his band I could listen to just him alone playing his piano. He puts his heart and soul in his music and I find myself remembering my life and feeling all the feelings I have over the last 45 years. He thanked his fans and was so gracious but I felt like I needed to thank him. He is blessed with his music and I felt I was Thankful to have him share his gift with me. He did something I have never seen in a concert before which warmed my heart. He not only went from side to side thanking his fans and shaking their hands. He also bent down and signed autographs. He was amazing. He took his time with his fans. So few times have I seen other artists take a second of their time to do the same. But Elton with his magnitude of success did far more than I have ever seen. I felt lucky and blessed to finally see the one concert I wanted to see for the last 45 years. Thank you Sir Elton John for sharing your heavenly talent! I am in Awe!

The SHOW was great, as a whole--I think. Video productions, etc. were awesome. Musicians looked to be performing well. The sound SUCKED! The sound in the Dallas American Airlines Center was so loud--especially the lower frequencies--that the mix was unintelligible. It was literally too loud to understand. We could distinguish not one word that was sung by Elton John--NOT ONE! Of course, we knew most of the words to the songs, but the only place we could distinguish those words was in our memories. If we EVER go to another rock/pop concert at AAC, it will be with earplugs, although even those probably wouldn't have helped at this concert. Covering my ears with my hands failed to significantly reduce the bass. I feel as though I paid $500 for two tickets to a video with an undecipherable soundtrack. While the SHOW was great, in general it was a disappointment. I have seen/heard Eric Clapton three previous times at AAC, and, while the sound was loud at those concerts, it was nothing like the Elton John concert. I suspect the fault lies with Elton John's engineers, so maybe this will be a problem elsewhere too.

This show was completely misrepresented by ALL promoters! The vast majority of concert goers thought we were going to witness a live concert with Elton backed by the Orchestra. What we received was a grossly overpriced movie showing of “Rocketman” with the Orchestra playing in the background during certain scenes.

A piano was brought out on stage during the movie intermission. At the tail end the film director introduced Elton, Bernie & the Actors. One song was performed with Elton on piano & Taron singing. That was a 5 minute nicety after a 3 hour let down.

I met two nice ladies who flew in from Canada dressed up and super excited only to be completely disappointed.

They gave out free concert posters at the end of show as we were exiting, that didn’t even represent what was real. I contemplate if I even want to hang on my wall as I do not wish to remember this experience because it was not a true representation of the night or what the poster implies.

We should ALL be refunded!!!!

Elton, were you aware of this advertising scam?

The production was first class by Baby Boomer standards; however, I would grade the performance as a B. Elton doesn't have the voice anymore, so he doesn't try for the real high notes and resorts to screaming some of the lyrics. The music was pretty tight, though he took liberties with the melody sometimes. Overall, it was a great show but it wasn't the best. I understand he will be performing over 300 concerts throughout this farewell tour, lasting into the Fall of 2021. That's a lot. He's not getting any younger and, in fact, he's seems to have some difficulty with mobility.

You can Google his play list but it doesn't include some of his bigger hits (Honky Cat or Harmony). He did go for nearly 2 hours straight and came back for a 2-song encore. I had comp tickets, but probably wouldn't pay the $300+ if I had to buy them. Glad I went, though. He is a legend!

Great concert. I was six rolls up from the Floor. There was two screens one on each side of the stage over the seats. Started at 8/7c. I live in Al. so I like the hour time difference. It was a sold out concert. Everybody was standing up dancing by their seats. Elton left the stage after just guessing 20 songs. After he left the stage. Everybody was hooping and hollowing, clapping like crazy. He came back and sang one more song before the show ending at around 10:40/9:40c. This was the 3rd E.J. concert. 1st was in 1999 in Chattanooga Tn. He was there alone. Then Sept. 12, 2012 in Huntsville, Al. with the band. And this time with the band. I didn't go to the 2013 Chattanooga concert because it hasn't been that long since I saw him in Huntsville. Now I'm waiting for Rod Stewart to come to Chattanooga. I saw him in Tampa Fl. when I lived near by for a short time.

The concert was fantastic. This was my 6th Elton John concert that I have been to and he never fails to please the crowd. Sadly the wind effected the sound though. Elton's tribute to Jonah Lomu was really heartfelt and beautiful. It was so lovely to see the whole audience swaying and holding up their cel phones and singing along with Elton to Don't let the sun go down on me. The same thing was done to one of my favourite songs, Candle in the wind which was written about Marilyn Monroe and later changed for Princess Diana it to was really emotional I will never forget that. The thing about Elton John is that you could tell that he really wanted to be there and that he truly loves what he does. He is a proffesional polished act. The other thing that was so good was that there were people of all ages at the concert. Elton John's music is timeless and ageless.

Well Elton has the sense to understand that his won't hit all the high notes he used to do. So he has adapted the songs to sung writhing his band, and he sings them comfortably. But they are not exactly as you may remember hearing them. After all you are listening to the original artist, but a different variant of the song. Some of them worked really well, like Bennie and the Jets, Saturday nights alright for fighting, others not so, like Tiny Dancer. Overall a credit to a master performer, plays for over 2 and a half hours. The thank you towards the fans of Australia was quite emotional, for him and us. All unscripted, he went deep into all the years of support and encouragement he received from Aus.

Possibly one of the best entertainers of his era, certainly the most flamboyant. We thank you and Bernie for your contribution of classic songs. Leon

While returning to Auckland to finish his Farewell Yellow Brick Road, Elton John has announced a new show on Christchurch, making his long-awaited return to New Zealand stages in January 2023.

With an unparalleled career that redefined the cultural landscape and saw over 300 million albums sold, Elton John is back on stage. 

 He first embarked on his  Farewell Yellow Brick Road  tour in September 2018 – its milestone, multi-year itinerary featuring more than 300 shows across five continents, with performances that left audiences spellbound through what has been described as a truly daring and intimate celebration of Elton John’s unmatched and incredible 50-year career. 

But, he has some unfinished business to attend to on our side of the world – so next January he is packing his bags and heading back to our stages for what is sure to be a run of magical, truly unforgettable shows.

Once the tickets have been purchased, you will receive a confirmation email as proof of purchase. This is NOT your ticket or ticket(s). You will receive instructions on how to access their ticket(s) much nearer to the shows if relevant.

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as they’re progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. The ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour has already been greeted with a wealth of praise from critics and fans alike. The three-year tour will consist of more than 300 shows across five continents, hitting North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia. Over half a million fans will already have witnessed the tour. These dates mark the superstar’s last-ever tour and the end of half a century on the road for one of pop culture’s most enduring performers, who was recently named as the most successful male solo artist in Billboard Hot 100 chart history, having logged 67 entries, including nine No. 1s and 27 Top 10s. Elton’s new stage production will take his fans on a musical and highly visual journey spanning a 50-year career of hits like no one has ever seen before.

Elton John 2022 – 2023 Tour Dates

Elton John To Continue His Massive ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’ through 2023 : If you’re looking to see Elton John in concert in the next two years, you won’t have to look that hard. Elton John will be continuing his Farewell tour through at least the year 2022. It’s not just any old tour however. Elton John turned 72 years old this year and has announced his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’ to his fans. In his statement he also expressed the want he has to be with family and close friends as he sees time as a much more valuable commodity. The announced concert tour is quite extensive and begins in North America with a string of shows in Elton John’s ‘2nd home’ in Vegas, Caesar’s Palace. Those smaller, more intimate shows begin April 28th and run through May 17th. There is a good chance that more dates will be added to his Las Vegas schedule, because there is a large time span until his next listed show which takes place on September 8th at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. So many big cities are going to be hit up by Elton John and some of them have multiple shows scheduled. Cities include Buffalo, Philadelphia, Hartford, Washington (DC), Boston, Uniondale, Miami, Dallas, New York, Nashville, Chicago, Denver, Tulsa, Brooklyn, Raleigh, Columbia, Albany, Newark, Jacksonville, Minneapolis, and more. Don’t forget Canada too; Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec. Elton John is playing so many places that if he’s not performing at a venue near you, then you must live in the boonies somewhere. When you look below this and see the list of places he is planning to play, the list is huge and extends well into 2023. Myself, I can’t wait for his handful of sets at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Hopefully he’ll hook up with Billy Joel for a few of those shows. Elton John Confirms He’ll Never Tour Again, Husband David Furnish Says He Wants to Be Present for Sons

Elton John is sticking to his retirement plans.

During a Thursday, June 27, interview with Entertainment Tonight , the “Rocket Man” singer, 77, firmly answered “no” when asked whether he plans to ever tour again.

John’s husband, David Furnish , chimed in to say that the pair want to focus on their sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.

“We’ve got our sons, you know, they’re getting into their teenage years now,” Furnish, 61, said. “We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be present for that. It’s sort of a key decade, I think, in a child’s life. He’s been doing it for 60 years, so it’s nice to have that time to spend at home with family.”

John added that he’s satisfied with his last hurrah being the final show of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which took place in Stockholm in July 2023.

“The last show in Stockholm on the farewell tour after Glastonbury, I got in the car and went, ‘Yes! Yes!’ We went out on the biggest high, just the way I wanted to, and there’s no going back [after] that,” he said.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour kicked off in 2018 and was initially meant to end in 2021. However, the coronavirus pandemic and a hip injury that Elton sustained in 2021 pushed the final show back.

John’s last song in Stockholm was, fittingly, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” He thanked the crowd for a “magical” end to his touring life and reflected on his “wonderful” career.

“Fifty-two years of pure joy, playing music. How lucky am I to play music? But I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes. But more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. And you know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent. Thank you,” he said.

The EGOT winner reiterated that he would “never be touring again” but teased “one-off” performances in the future.

“But that’s miles away. I want to appreciate my family, my sons, my husband, everything,” he said.

John and Furnish gushed about completing their family after welcoming Elijah via surrogate in January 2013.

“Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable,” the couple told Hello! magazine at the time. “The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.”

2023…The Year In Review

For Elton John, 2023 has been a year of lasts and of firsts…accomplishments old and new…tributes and triumphs.

Elton may have retired from touring, but those who thought that might keep him hidden from sight need only look at the previous twelve months to be reminded that this is a man who continues to share his love of entertaining!

In honour of his ongoing career, we present just some of the highlights from the past year for Elton and his fans:

30 th – Billboard magazine announces that Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, being the first in Boxscore history to gross $800 million. At the time of the announcement, there are still 50 dates left to go on the tour, which will end in July after 330 shows to over 6.25 million fans across the UK, Europe, North America, and Australasia.

24 th – The day before his 76 birthday, Elton releases the 50 th Anniversary Edition of his fifth studio album – and his first No. 1 LP in the US – Honky Château . Available on CD, vinyl, and streaming, the expanded set includes newly available selections from the original session tapes and live tracks from Elton’s appearance at the Royal Festival Hall, where some of the yet-to-be-released album’s songs made their debut a mere month after they were recorded. The album features one of Elton’s early classics, Rocket Man .

6 th – Honky Château returns to the Official UK Albums Chart for the third time (51 years after its original appearance!) at No. 33.

22 nd – Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player celebrates its 50 th anniversary with a double LP vinyl release on Record Store Day. The original 1973 album became Elton’s second straight No. 1 in the US and his first in the UK. The LP contains Crocodile Rock , Elton’s first No. 1 single in the US, and Daniel , another classic. The 50 th Anniversary Edition includes alternate session mixes and two songs that have been hiding in the vaults for the past five decades!

12th – The Elton John pop-up shop opens in London’s Soho. For the following two months, fans from all over the world shop the full Elton John Eyewear collection as well as special t-shirts, vinyl, and myriad other collectibles. This first-of-its-kind freestanding Elton shop in London is just steps away from a multitude of locations vital to his early career and features some of the star’s flamboyant stage costumes, including his famous Donald Duck outfit, for fans to see up close and take selfies with.

25th – Elton performs at the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts for the first time, headlining the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm. This, his final UK show before the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour concludes, is widely heralded as one of the greatest performances in the festival’s rich history, attracting one of the largest crowds ever witnessed at the festival. It also receives the largest-ever televised audience for a Glastonbury set, reaching 7.6 million overnight on BBC One.

The following day, Elton announces a limited-edition release of Diamonds (Pyramid Edition) , pressed on coloured vinyl. The track listing, personally selected by Elton, contains highlights from Diamonds, the Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection , and quickly becomes a highly sought-after item.

6 th – We mention Diamonds again as the collection at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart. This is the album’s peak position an astonishing five-plus years after its release. It stays at that position for two weeks and will continue to place on both the UK and US charts through 2023.

7th and 8 th – Elton wraps up his vast touring career with a Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour show at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. By the end of the evening, Elton will have delivered over 4,600 performances in more than 80 countries since launching his first tour in 1970.

7 th – Elton’s long-time lyricist, Bernie Taupin, publishes his memoir, Scattershot: Life, Music, Elton and Me to wide acclaim.

29 th – To celebrate the 50 th anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road , Elton’s most successful studio album is released in Dolby Atmos on music streaming services. Listeners who take advantage of the immersive surround-sound technology will be able to hear every song on the double album and its bonus tracks the way they have been begging to be heard for the past 50 years.

19th – The Elton John Pinball machine, lovingly created by Jersey Jack Pinball, is released, and soon takes the winning spot for Best New Game of 2023 at the Pinball Expo in Chicago. The immersive adventure takes players on a pinball journey inspired by Elton’s illustrious career.

20 th – Elton appears on the new Rolling Stones album, Hackney Diamonds , playing piano on two songs, Get Close and Live by the Sword . The album, produced by Andrew Watt (he helmed some of the tracks on Elton’s latest record, The Lockdown Sessions ) peaks at No. 1 in the UK and No. 3 in the US.

3 rd – Elton inducts Bernie Taupin into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Brooklyn, NY. “Once upon a time, in England,” he told the audience, “two boys were born – in Pinner and in Owmby-by-Spital. … Little did they know as they were growing up what would happen to them – what was in store for them. … Eventually I got to meet this young man, who came down [to London] from Lincolnshire and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. Not only did we become the greatest of friends, and still are, who love each other dearly, but we wrote songs that got better and better and better.”

Later on, he joins an all-star band featuring Sheryl Crow, Chris Stapleton, and Brittany Howard as they perform The Weight in tribute to the late Robbie Robertson.

16 th – Elton adds his voice to those of Ed Sheeran and Keith Urban on the 10 th anniversary edition of Irish singer Foy Vance’s gem of a song, Guiding Light . “When Foy asked me to do it, it was a no brainer for me because I’m such a huge fan of his,” said Elton.

17 th – Showing that he has a hard time locating the “no” button on his email app, Elton joins Dolly Parton on her cover of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me on her new album, Rockstar . The country music superstar has worked with Elton once before, joining him for two songs on the 39th Annual Country Music Awards ceremony: John Lennon’s Imagine and Elton’s own Turn The Lights Out When You Leave .

Southington's Top Concert Band Putting On Really Big Show July 1

Southington Symphonic Band

SOUTHINGTON/CHESHIRE, CT — Fourth of July festivities start early next week in Southington, with the town's popular concert band putting on a musical showcase of patriotism Monday, July 1.

The Southington Symphonic Band will present its summer concert on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m. at the Calvary Life Family Worship Center, 174 East Johnson Ave., in nearby Cheshire.

The summer concert repertoire includes selections by John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, John

Philip Sousa and Dmitri Shostakovich.

No tickets are necessary, but donations will be accepted.

The Southington Symphonic Band, directed by former Southington High School band director

Jeff Shaw was established in January 2023.

Its members include former SHS band members and band parents, local music teachers, and players from Southington and neighboring communities.

Musicians high school age or older who play a band instrument are welcome to join the

Southington Symphonic Band.

There are openings in all sections.

After the summer concert, rehearsals will resume on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. in late August.

Elton John documentary to premiere at Toronto Film Festival

It follows the rock veteran’s farewell road trek that raked in over £708million in gross ticket sales

A documentary on Elton John is set to premiere at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival 2024.

Elton John: Never Too Late will show John’s journey through the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour , which began in 2018 and wrapped up in Stockholm last July . It was the first-ever concert tour to earn over $900million (£708million) in gross ticket sales, making it the highest grossing concert tour of all time .

According to Music News , the documentary will also “pull the back the curtain” on the superstar’s life, featuring “never-before-seen concert footage of him over the past 50 years, as well as hand-written journals and present-day footage of him and his family”.

Some of the footage taken from the farewell tour was filmed at his final US performance at the Dodger Stadium in November 2022. The concert was livestreamed by Disney+ and subsequently issued on the streaming platform as Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium .

Elton John: Never Too Late is jointly directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, John’s husband. The film will screen at the festival sometime in September, with a Disney+ release scheduled for a later date.

At John’s final date in Stockholm, he told the crowd: “Fifty years of pure joy playing music… how lucky am I? I wouldn’t be sitting here… it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes… [and] more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. You know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent.”

Meanwhile, John is not done releasing new music just yet. In May, his friend and co-writer Bernie Taupin revealed that John’s 32nd studio album is “all done and recorded” .

“I think it’s quite brilliant and quite contemporary and it will certainly surprise a lot of people and excite a lot of people and hopefully be successful,” Taupin teases.

A book covering his farewell tour, authored by John himself, is also due to publish in September .
