The offers below may no longer be available.

Capital One unveiled the details of their brand new travel booking portal — Capital One Travel. It's a unique platform to book travel using your Capital One credit card , whether you are booking with miles or cash.

This news comes as the bank recently announced upgraded travel benefits, including new transfer partners for Capital One miles and opening three Capital One airport lounges.

Now, Capital One is delivering an all-in-one travel portal where consumers can book flights, hotels and car rentals — and also access several exciting features to save money on travel and make booking a hassle-free experience.

Capital One Travel's new features

American Express and Chase are famous for their travel rewards credit cards , along with their travel portals where you can use their respective points. Now, Capital One has built its own proprietary portal with a slew of unique features.

However, this portal is still in 'beta' and is not yet accessible to Capital One cardholders. The live version will be rolling out to Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Spark Miles for Business, Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business and Capital One Walmart Rewards® Mastercard® cardholders in the coming weeks.

The portal will include these features when it first launches:

  • Price prediction technology: Earlier this year, Capital One announced a partnership with Hopper, a tech company with airfare price prediction technology. Using historical data, this tool will predict when flights are at their highest or lowest price. This can help inform the timing of when you should purchase a flight if you want to get it for the best price.
  • Price drop protection: If a flight price is found lower than the one you paid, Capital One will offer a refund for the difference. This can be a huge money saver for consumers who regularly travel, and the best part is that it's automatically refunded.
  • Price match guarantee: If you find a better price for a flight, hotel or rental car on another site within 24 hours of booking, Capital One Travel will refund the difference.

Later this year Capital One will add these benefits to its travel portal:

  • Integrated travel insurance to 'cancel for any reason' : For a small fee, consumers can book their travel with a 'cancel for any reason' clause. This is typically a premium if you are to purchase a traditional travel insurance policy . You can cancel a flight for any reason 24 hours before departure and get 80% of your ticket cost back.
  • Freeze your price: If you find a price you like, but aren't fully ready to book, you have the option to freeze the price and complete the purchase at a later time. Capital One will cover the difference if the flight price is higher than when you instituted the freeze; if the price has dropped, you will be able to purchase it at the lower price. There will be a small fee for this feature.

Lastly, sustainable travel has become a priority for many who are hitting the road. Booking.com's 2021 Sustainable Travel Report revealed that 61% of travelers stated the pandemic has influenced them to want to travel more sustainably. In response, Capital One is launching a partnership with Eden Reforestation to plant four trees for every flight, hotel, or rental car booking in order to help with forest restoration.

Compared to other bank's travel portals, Capital One Travel will provide a very unique and potentially valuable tool. The other travel booking platforms do not include nearly any of the same purchase protections or travel insurance policies.

And with transfer bonuses becoming more lucrative for consumers who earn transferable points, there is often less incentive to use a bank's travel portal. But with Capital One's new product, travelers have more tools to try and get the best price for their upcoming adventure.

Best Capital One credit cards

If the new Capital One Travel portal is intriguing, consider applying for one of the many Capital One credit cards.

Here are their current cards and their welcome offers:

  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening
  • Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card: 20,000 bonus miles once you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening
  • Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card: A one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening
  • Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card: A one-time $300 cash bonus once you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening
  • Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card: A one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening
  • Capital One Spark Miles for Business: 50,000 miles bonus once you spend $4,500 in the first 3 months from account opening.

Bottom line

Booking through a credit card's travel portal has several upsides, mainly the ability to earn and burn your miles all in one place. But the new benefits of the Capital One Travel portal make the card issuer stand out from other bank's booking platforms.

Capital One Miles

One of the pillars of travel insurance is coverage for your rental car. Indeed, this is one of the most important areas to pay close attention to. Why? Coverage varies wildly — and you might not actually be getting the coverage you’re expecting. If something unexpected happens while you’re renting, you could be liable for thousands of dollars’ worth of damages.

The Capital One Venture X card confers excellent auto rental collision damage waiver coverage . Save money by saying no at the counter — when you rent with your covered Visa Infinite card, you get built-in auto rental coverage .

To utilize this coverage, you must decline the rental car company’s collision damage waiver, or CDW, also sometimes referred to as the loss damage waiver, or LDW, and pay for the entire rental car using your Capital One Venture X card .

To file a claim, you need to immediately call the benefits administrator at 800-825-4062 (outside the U.S., call collect at 804-965-8071).

You need to provide:

  • A copy of the accident report form
  • A copy of the initial and final auto rental agreements (front and back)
  • A copy of the repair estimate and itemized repair bill
  • 2 photographs of the damaged vehicle, if available
  • A police report, if obtainable
  • A copy of the demand letter that indicates the costs you are responsible for and any amount that has been paid toward the claim

Be sure to complete and sign the claim form provided by the benefits administrator and postmark it within 90 days of the damage date, even if all of the other required documentation isn’t yet available.

You should also submit a copy of your billing statement showing that the entire car rental was booked with the Capital One Venture X card.

Frustrated man removing glasses

One of the core pillars of travel insurance is trip cancellation and interruption insurance.

If your upcoming travel plans are disrupted or canceled, there could be potentially huge financial implications. For example, if your airline becomes insolvent and you have to cancel your vacation because of that, leverage your trip cancellation and interruption insurance, which typically covers unexpected events.

You can even use this coverage in the middle of your trip — it specifically relates to travel on “common carriers.” Common carriers are generally any model of transportation by land, water, or air operating for hire under a license to carry passengers for which a ticket must be purchased prior to travel.

The most applicable common carrier travel would likely be airfare, and the Capital One Venture X card covers each insured person so long as you charge the entire cost to that credit card . Your spouse and dependent children are generally eligible for coverage, as long as their trips are also paid for on the credit card.

You’re generally covered if the interruption or cancellation is from the death of a family member (as well as accidental bodily injury, disease, or physical illness) or financial insolvency of the common carrier.

Exclusions to this insurance include any preexisting conditions, injuries arising from participation in professional sports events, cosmetic surgery, suicide, declared or undeclared war, and more.

Trip delays are one of those unexpected annoyances that happen to travelers sooner or later.

Luckily, the Capital One Venture X card covers trip delay reimbursement of up to $500 for every purchased ticket on your card so long as your trip is delayed for more than 6 hours or requires an overnight stay.

You can have up to 1 claim per trip, and you need to purchase at least a portion of the common carrier fare using your credit card .

Have you ever wondered what happened to your luggage only to find out that, just like in a nightmare in a scary movie, the airline has delayed or lost it?

Worry no more — your bags are covered against common carrier-caused loss or theft with lost luggage reimbursement when you use your Venture X card to purchase common carrier tickets.

The exact process for filing a claim depends on which coverage you’re trying to use, but the general process is usually the same:

  • Notify your benefits administrator as soon as you possibly can about your covered event.
  • Provide any preliminary claim information to the benefits administrator.
  • The benefits administrator will send a more complete claim form to fill out, as well as a list of documentation required.
  • Submit the claims and wait to receive the reimbursement you’re eligible for.
  • Follow up with the benefits administrator as needed.

The exact documentation you need to collect varies. For example, if you want to file for a car rental-related reimbursement, you’ll likely need to furnish items like your rental car agreement. On the other hand, if you’re applying for trip cancellation or interruption coverage, you need to provide the confirmation of the nonrefundable tickets on the common carrier.

In general, all claim forms must be submitted within 90 days of the covered event, even if all of the supporting documentation isn’t yet available.

Hot Tip: Keep as much documentation as possible, including receipts, police reports, email communications from third parties, and more.

The Capital One Venture X card offers some of the best travel insurance a credit card can offer. This is in addition to the other benefits you get, such as unlimited Capital One Lounge access, up to $300 Capital One Travel credit every cardmember anniversary year, cell phone insurance , and so much more.

In particular, the primary rental car insurance rivals the best that ultra-premium credit cards offer.

Although this card doesn’t have baggage delay coverage, emergency medical and dental coverage, or emergency medical transport and evacuation insurance, it has most of the features travelers are looking for.

For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the above benefits are provided by Visa ® or Mastercard ® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.

Capital One Adds New Perks for Venture Cardholders, Deadline for Venture X Bonus

The bank adds another transfer partner and more value to Capital One Travel

capital one travel flight cancellation policy

Capital One has announced new additions to its list of travel transfer partners and is adding the option to cancel a flight through Capital One Travel for any reason. Additionally, the card issuer has added a deadline for the inaugural new-cardholder bonus on the Venture X credit card.

Key Takeaways

  • Capital One is beefing up its offering for select business and consumer cardholders.
  • The bank has added Virgin Red as a transfer partner and has introduced a limited-time offer on other transfers.
  • Venture and Spark Miles cardholders will also get more value through a flight cancellation feature on the Capital One Travel platform.
  • The card issuer has also set a deadline for new Venture X cardholders who want to earn the inaugural 100,000-mile and vacation rental offer.

Capital One Adds Value to Its Travel Offering

Capital One has caught up with other top travel rewards programs in recent years, adding transfer partners to its Venture and Spark Miles rewards programs, launching Capital One Travel and introducing the premium Venture X credit card .

Today, the card issuer has announced additional features that will add even more value for new and existing cardholders:

  • New transfer partner: Capital One will soon add Virgin Red to its list of 1:1 transfer partners. The new loyalty program works across all brands in the Virgin family, and Capital One is currently the only credit card issuer partnering with the program. The bank now has 16 travel transfer partners.
  • Other transfer partner bonuses: The card issuer has launched a promotion offering 20% bonuses on transfers to Aeromexico Club Premier, Avianca LifeMiles, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. In other words, if you transfer 1,000 miles to any of these partners from March 1 to March 31, you'll receive 1,200 points or miles with the partner airline or hotel group.
  • New flight cancellation feature: Capital One will soon launch a feature on its booking platform, Capital One Travel. The new feature will allow Venture and Spark Miles cardholders to cancel a flight for any reason and receive 70% to 90% of their money back in lieu of a travel voucher, for a small fee. There are no questions asked and you can cancel up to 24 hours before your first scheduled departure time. According to a Capital One representative, your fee and refund will depend on the flight route, how far in advance the flight was booked, the departure date and other factors.

Additionally, Capital One has announced a deadline for the 100,000-mile offer on its new Venture X credit card. If you apply by March 14, you'll receive 100,000 bonus miles if you spend $10,000 in the first six months. You can also get up to $200 in statement credits toward Airbnb or VRBO purchases during your first year with the card.

It's unclear yet what the new-cardholder bonus will be after the March 14 deadline.

Capital One Travel price match and price drop protection: How it works

We don't always recommend booking trips through a travel portal , but doing so can come with some benefits.

Two of the perks of this route are price drop protection and a price match guarantee you can take advantage of when booking through Capital One's travel portal .

Here's what you need to know about Capital One price drop protection and Capital One price match.

Booking through the Capital One portal

If you have an eligible Capital One credit card, you can access the Capital One travel portal to book flights, accommodation and rental cars.

And this isn't just for those with the top-tier Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card . Chances are, if you have a Capital One card in your wallet, you can use the Capital One travel portal.

Related: How to use the Capital One travel portal

Capital One price drop protection

When searching for a flight in the Capital One travel portal, you may notice a recommendation to purchase the flight immediately.

When this happens, the platform predicts that airfare prices will increase in the future and suggests that you lock in the lower price now. In fact, Capital One (in partnership with travel technology company Hopper) is so confident in its algorithm that it will automatically apply price drop protection to that particular purchase — for free.

With price drop protection, Capital One will monitor the price of a flight for 10 days after you buy it. The terms of the protection can change based on your exact itinerary and dates, but if the price drops during that time, you'll get a travel credit for the difference (up to $50).

Related: Book now and then check for hotel and airline price drops

Capital One price match guarantee

If you book a flight, hotel or rental car through the portal and find a cheaper price within 24 hours of booking, you can file a claim with Capital One and receive 100% of the price difference as a travel credit if your claim is eligible.

The cheaper itinerary must:

  • Match your original itinerary exactly
  • Be priced in U.S. Dollars
  • Be available to the general public
  • Be available at the time you contact Capital One

My experience using Capital One's price match guarantee

I recently used this benefit and was impressed at how easy the process was.

Usually, I book flights directly through the airline rather than via an online travel agency like Capital One Travel. However, I wanted to use the $300 annual travel credit I received with my Venture X card .

I found a one-way flight on Viva Aerobus from Mexico City to San Antonio just after Thanksgiving for $145 directly through the airline, but it was priced $25 higher through Capital One Travel at $171.

So, I booked the itinerary through Capital One and immediately called them at 844-422-6922. A helpful agent picked up right away and asked for the trip ID number and where I'd found the cheaper price.

They promptly confirmed they could see the cheaper price through the Viva Aerobus website and immediately applied a $25 travel credit to my Capital One account. I didn't have to send screenshots, and the phone call took under seven minutes.

Plus, I'll earn 5 miles per dollar spent on my flight through the travel portal (855 miles) rather than the 2 miles per dollar spent had I booked directly with the airline (290 miles). According to our valuations , those extra miles are worth ~$10.

The only drawback is that if the airline or I need to change or cancel the flight, I'll have to deal with Capital One (rather than Viva Aerobus), as they own my itinerary.

Bottom line

We usually recommend booking directly with the airline to reduce any hassle in case you need to change or cancel your flight. However, the Capital One price drop protection feature is useful for receiving up to $50 in travel credits if a flight drops in price after you book it. The Capital One Travel price match guarantee gives you the confidence to know you can get a travel credit if the flight, hotel or rental car you book through the portal is priced higher than elsewhere.

In a time of such uncertainty, Capital One has well-timed the launch of their new travel portal, which addresses many pain points and headaches of the "new normal" travel experience. The new Capital One Travel portal integrates technology from Hopper to ensure that customers get the best prices possible on flights, thanks to billions of data points that Hopper claims lend it 95% price prediction accuracy. Packaged with a whole suite of other customer-friendly features, from increased service support and the option to add cancel-for-any-reason (CFAR) coverage, the all-new Capital One Travel may be the best online booking agency yet.

Let's dive into all the details.

Earn bonus rewards with an eligible Capital one card

capital one travel flight cancellation policy

For starters, you'll be able to access the initial beta launch of Capital One Travel in the coming weeks with the following Capital One credit cards:

  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
  • Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card
  • Capital One Spark Miles for Business
  • Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business
  • Capital One Walmart Rewards® Mastercard® cardholders

The information for the Capital One Spark Miles Select and Walmart cards has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Of course, you'll also have the option to redeem your stash of miles for bookings made through it at the rate of 1 cent each instead.

Getting the lowest price possible

capital one travel flight cancellation policy

Thanks to its partnership with the travel booking app Hopper, Capital One Travel is now uniquely positioned to find the lowest prices available thanks to AI-powered tools that track flight prices and trends. Here are the standout features.

Price prediction and price watch technology

For instance, let's say you want to book a ski trip to Vail, Colo., this winter and are preemptively looking at flights for you and your family. Through the Capital One Travel portal, you can sign up to receive price alerts on flights you're interested in, and you'll receive a notification when prices have dropped and it's the ideal time to book.

Price drop prediction

Once you receive a price drop alert and book your flight accordingly, Capital One is confident that you're getting the best fare possible. If the fare lowers again after booking, customers will receive a travel credit for the difference.

Best price guarantee and price match

To go one step further, Capital One offers a best price guarantee and will match prices from competitors. If a customer books through Capital One Travel, but finds a better price for a flight, hotel or car rental on another site within 24 hours of booking, they will receive a travel credit for the difference from Capital One Travel. For its part, Capital One Travel compares the hotel rates it pulls against those of Expedia, Orbits and other travel booking sites and will adjust its own prices to match or even beat competitors.

Price freeze option

If you've found a great price but aren't quite ready to commit yet, Capital One Travel allows you to lock in the price for a small fee until you're confident and ready to book. The fee will vary depending on the booking, but the most significant advantage to this capability is that Capital One will cover any fare increases while under the price freeze. On the flip side, if the fare lowers during your prize freeze, you'll pay the lower price instead.

Cancel-for-any-reason coverage

Travel insurance has become top of mind for many travelers since the beginning of the pandemic. While many travel rewards cards these days offer complimentary travel protections, know that they likely won't cover you in any coronavirus-related cancellations. If you're looking for that type of more comprehensive coverage, you'll typically need to purchase independent travel insurance that offers "cancel for any reason" (CFAR) coverage .

Capital One Travel has made it easier to purchase CFAR coverage on top of your flight for a small fee that will vary per booking. This allows you to cancel your flight for any reason — no questions asked — up to 24 hours before your first scheduled departure and receive 80% of your ticket cost back. Since most other CFAR protections offered by different insurance providers only offer up to 75% back, the fact that this new coverage is now integrated into the booking process is another huge advantage to Capital One Travel.

The option to add CFAR is critical since booking refundable flights can sometimes be double the price of a non-refundable ticket. Therefore, having CFAR coverage for a fraction of that cost can save you potentially hundreds or even thousands of dollars in case your plans change.

More call center staff

One of the biggest drawbacks of booking through an online agency (rather than directly through an airline) is that you may experience difficulty changing your plans or getting a refund for a canceled flight. For instance, we witnessed customer service meltdowns at all the major OTAs at the start of the pandemic.

Recognizing all of these pain points, Capital One states, "Knowing that the travel industry as a whole is continuing to see a surge in demand, we are significantly increasing hiring and staffing for call centers, adding travel agents with a goal to reduce call wait times to help customers make adjustments to travel plans when they need to."

With dozens of reports from TPG readers and staffers of long wait times with airline customer service centers , this could also be a game-changer. However, we'll have to test the hold times with Capital One Travel to ensure that the hold times are as good as the issuer claims they will be.

Capital One is looking at other ways to improve the customer service experience and empower their cardholders to change their plans, including self-service tools that customers can use to change or cancel trips online rather than waiting on hold for a customer service representative.

Bottom line

If all the features pan out as planned, Capital One Travel will be a much-needed breath of fresh air when it comes to travel booking portals. Especially during the past year and a half, many consumers have complained about the difficulties in obtaining a refund and unfavorable price differences when booking through other issuers' portals such as Amex Travel or the Chase Ultimate Rewards than directly with airlines. Hopefully, the launch of this new Capital One Travel portal will usher in change for other portals toward an intuitive and streamlined travel booking process.

That's why cancel for any reason coverage, or CFAR, can be a valuable add-on. Frequently Asked Questions

Cancel for any reason insurance (also called CFAR coverage) is a type of trip cancellation insurance that lets you cancel your trip for a reason not listed as a covered reason in your plan. For example, you may decide not to travel due to an illness in your extended family or a specific financial issue you're dealing with. In either case, this time-sensitive coverage can help you get reimbursement for prepaid trip payments you have made toward airfare, hotel stays, tours and more.

CFAR coverage typically needs to be purchased within a sensitive period of time after making a trip deposit (usually ranging from 14 to 20 days after). Travelers only get back between 50% and 80% of prepaid travel expenses, depending on your policy, so this coverage won't lead to a full refund.

If you're worried how COVID-19 might affect your travel plans, you can purchase travel insurance that includes COVID-19 coverage . That said, CFAR protection can also be a good investment, particularly if you want the option to cancel based on last-minute disinclination to travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Frequently Asked Questions

My travel plans have been canceled and the charges on my card have not been removed. What are my options? Working directly with the merchant is often the fastest way to resolve your dispute. Many travel providers are changing their policies to be more flexible due to recent travel restrictions, with some allowing you to change or cancel travel plans at no fee. For more information on your options, visit our Disputes Support Center .

Because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, I filed a dispute on a travel charge. What happens now? It can take more than 50 days for Capital One to resolve a dispute with the merchant. If the merchant rejects the dispute, responsibility for the disputed amount is based primarily on the merchant’s policies and terms concerning refunds or cancellations. For example, if you purchased a non-refundable airline ticket, the airline’s policy might permit you to pay a cancellation fee in order to apply the remaining balance to a future flight. In that situation, you would likely be responsible for the disputed amount. If you are responsible, we will remove the temporary credit, and the original charge will be re-applied to your account. So what can you do if your credit is removed? We encourage you to reach back out to the merchant directly to see if they can help. For links to specific travel providers and more information on your options, visit our Disputes Support Center .

I lost my dispute and am not happy with the outcome. What should I do?  If you lost your dispute, it is likely because the merchant declined the dispute per their terms and conditions. When that happens, we re-apply the disputed charge to your account and send a letter with details on why the merchant declined your dispute. After the charge has been re-applied to your account, Capital One ends the investigation and closes the case. If you would like to respond with new information, look to the letter we send you for instructions on whether you can continue your dispute. You can always reach out to the merchant directly to see what other options they have for you. Please visit our Disputes Support Center for more information and tips on working with merchants.

If you’re looking to travel to Paris or beyond, there’s a good chance Air France has popped up in your airfare searches. Maybe you’ve even found a great price for an overseas flight, but between your work schedule and other commitments, you’re not sure you’ll be able to make the trip.

Here's what you need to know about cancelling Air France flights before you click purchase.

Can you cancel an Air France flight?

Air France allows ticket cancellations on some fare types, such as Flex fares, but nonrefundable flights aren’t eligible for cancellation. Depending on the booking class, you might even have to pay a fee to cancel your flight — and some fare types only include the option to change your itinerary or travel dates, but not cancel entirely.

Keep in mind that the Air France refund policy states that if you purchased a ticket through a travel agency, you must contact them first. For direct bookings, contact Air France.

If you haven’t used the ticket and it’s no longer valid, you’re only entitled to a refund of the taxes and fees.

Which Air France tickets allow for cancellations

Tickets booked in the last 24 hours.

If your plans change shortly after booking a flight, the Air France 24-hour cancellation policy allows for free cancellation of any ticket booked in the last 24 hours.

This is actually a U.S. Department of Transportation rule that applies to all flights originating in the United States. For the policy to apply, you must book a flight at least seven days before departure of the outbound flight. If your flight departs sooner than that, you may still have to pay cancellation fees.

Tickets booked in select fare classes

You might be eligible for a refund after the 24-hour period if you booked certain ticket types, according to the Air France cancellation policy.

If you’re traveling within Europe, the following fare types can be canceled for free:

Business class fully flexible.

Economy class fully flexible.

And if your trip includes intercontinental travel, the following booking classes are eligible for cancellation:

Premium economy fully flexible.

Economy fully flexible.

Additionally, these booking classes can be canceled for a fee on intercontinental flights:

Business class.

Premium economy fare class S.

Economy flexible.

If your fare class isn’t on the list, the ticket can’t be canceled outright, and this is when the Air France flight change policy kicks in. In this case, you’ll be issued a nonrefundable, nontransferable voucher. Technically, it isn’t a refund since the money never goes back to the original payment method used to purchase the fare, and it can only be used with the airline.

Most fare types can be changed for a fee. Air France change fees vary and will be subtracted from the original value of the unused portion of the flight cost.

Tickets changed, delayed or canceled by the airline

If your flight has been changed by the airline before departure, you can cancel the ticket for free. If you’re already at the airport and the flight has been delayed by at least five hours, you can also cancel the unused portion of the ticket for a refund, even if you’ve flown at least one segment of the itinerary.

The same goes for flight cancellations made by Air France. You can’t fly a flight that’s canceled, so you can request a refund if you don’t want to re-book your itinerary.

Additionally, because Air France is a European carrier, if your flight was delayed or canceled for a reason in the airline's control, such as mechanical issues or crew shortage, you can ask for additional compensation .

How to cancel an Air France flight

If you’re not sure whether your flight is eligible for a refund or a travel voucher, click on “View ticket conditions” for more information. Online refunds are processed at no additional cost and take no more than 30 days to complete.

If you’d like to cancel over the phone, dial 1-800-237-2747 or 1-711-833-2072 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET.

How to cancel a Flying Blue award ticket

If you’re looking to cancel or change an Air France award ticket booked through the Flying Blue loyalty program, you can do so by calling the Flying Blue customer service line at 1-800-375-8723.

A fee of about $53 (50 euros) applies to changes and cancellations of flights booked with Flying Blue miles. It’s a small price to pay for the miles to be redeposited into your account. It also could be worth it to cancel and rebook a ticket if the redemption rate of the award has dropped significantly since you booked, which is always possible due to the airline’s use of dynamic pricing.

Cancelling an Air France flight recapped

Some Air France tickets are eligible for refunds, but most are eligible for travel credits only. The Air France 24-hour cancellation policy allows you to cancel a ticket for free as long as you’re within this timeframe.

In all other cases, make sure to read the fare conditions for your ticket carefully before making any moves. If you booked an award ticket, you’ll be charged a fee to change your ticket or cancel and get your miles back.
