Where can you get tickets?

Tickets for the North American leg of the tour will be available through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb 6, with an exclusive presale to BeyHive members, according to a Live Nation press release.

Verified Fan registration is now open. Once you register, you'll be placed in a lottery system that determines which fans get invited to purchase tickets. Registration alone doesn't guarantee tickets. If you're selected, you'll get an access code the day before tickets go on sale. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. According to Live Nation, this process is intended to help Ticketmaster weed out the resellers and verify your account so that actual fans get priority to buy tickets.

Citi cardmembers will have a special Citi Presale after the Verified Fan process. Get more details here . Verizon will also offer an exclusive presale through their customer loyalty program Verizon Up .

Will Beyoncé be using Ticketmaster like Taylor Swift to sell tickets?

Yes, but given what happened with Taylor Swift's Eras tour (and the fact it led to Congressional hearings about Ticketmaster ’s practices), it seems very likely both Beyoncé and Ticketmaster would want to avoid repeating that mess. That most likely explains the usage of the Verified Fan system.

Where will Beyoncé be playing?

The Renaissance World Tour will hit 40 cities in North America and across Europe. Stops include Paris, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, and many more.

What has Beyoncé said about the Renaissance World Tour?

She just announced it was happening with a post on February 1. Her website didn't immediately contain any more details. But during the Wearable Art Gala in October 2022, she appeared to confirm it would start this summer, as a backstage tour with her mother Tina Lawson was up for auction at the event.

Will Beyoncé be performing at the Grammys (on February 5) and sharing more tour details there?

Not clear yet, but she is the most nominated artist at the ceremony . On January 21, Variety reported that “ talks with show producers are ongoing for a possible onstage appearance ” by Beyoncé.

What can we expect from the tour on stage?

Beyoncé hasn't shared that yet either, but given the artistry she put into her recent Dubai show , it's fair to say we can expect no less than excellence, elaborate costumes, and an incredible experience.

This post will be updated the moment more detail is released.

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour

Beyonc

Beyoncé has announced that she’s touring in support of her latest album, Renaissance . The tour begins with a European leg in May, followed by dates in Canada and the United States that extend from from early July through late September. It’s her first tour since her 2018 co-headlining On the Run II Tour with Jay-Z behind their collaborative album, Everything Is Love , and her first headlining tour since 2016’s Formation World Tour behind Lemonade . The Renaissance World Tour is produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation. See all of the dates below.

Renaissance arrived July 29, rising swiftly to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and marking Beyoncé’s seventh album to summit the albums chart. It is the first act in what will be a three-part series, she has indicated.

Beyoncé hinted at her world tour in late October, during the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala, where the raffle included “ a UNIQUE experience ” to see her on the Renaissance tour. Purported images from the auction featured descriptions of the summer 2023 trek. Valued at $20,000, the package included first-class plane tickets, a three-night hotel stay, two concert tickets, and a guided backstage tour from Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles aka Miss Tina. Beyoncé was reportedly in attendance at the gala. In January, she performed at the opening of a new luxury resort in Dubai, but did not play any Renaissance material at the private concert . It was her first live performance since 2020.

Since sharing Renaissance , Beyoncé has made a few adjustments to the album; she replaced ableist lyrics in “ Heated ,” and removed an interpolation of Kelis ’ “Milkshake” on “Energy” after Kelis said she was not informed by Beyoncé and her team that her music was going to be used on the new album. Beyoncé also dropped Honey Dijon and Madonna remixes of “ Break My Soul .”

In 2019, Beyoncé released Homecoming: The Live Album . The next year, she shared Black Is King , a visual album based on her 2019 soundtrack for The Lion King: The Gift . (Beyoncé voiced adult Nala in the CGI remake film.) On Juneteenth of that year, she surprise-released “ Black Parade ,” which would go on to win the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance . At the same ceremony, she also won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song (for her feature on the remix of Megan Thee Stallion ’s “ Savage ”), as well as Best Music Video (for The Gift ’s “ Brown Skin Girl ”). “ Be Alive ”—her contribution to the King Richard soundtrack—was nominated for an Oscar at last year’s ceremony.

Beyoncé is nominated for nine honors at the 2023 Grammy Awards : Record of the Year , Song of the Year , and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul”; Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for Renaissance ; Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove”; Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa”; Best R&B Song for “Cuff It”; and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Be Alive.”

What will the stage be like for the Renaissance World Tour?

According to reports, the stage for Bey's tour is set to be huge.

A source close to the production revealed that: "The structure for the stage is gigantic and on a totally different scale from any other tour right now – that’s why she needed a huge venue to rehearse in.

And she can’t run through the show in any of the stadiums she is performing in because they aren’t soundproofed and people would hear what she was preparing.

She is on top form and is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly groundbreaking tour."

The announcement comes after Beyoncé seemingly confirmed the 2023 ‘Renaissance’ tour via an auction last year .

Last month, Beyoncé performed her first concert in four years at the launch of a luxury hotel in Dubai  although no ‘Renaissance’ material was played.

Reviewing ‘Renaissance’, NME  described the singer’s first studio album in six years as “a celebration of love and Black joy” that is “indebted to house music and New Orleans bounce, keenly reclaiming gentrified genres”.

Beyoncé fans are traveling to Europe for her new tour – is it worth it?

Beyoncé fans in the U.S. are doing whatever it takes to watch the singer on her Renaissance World Tour , which kicks off tonight in Stockholm.

Some fans are traveling as far as Europe to see the singer perform after they struggled to buy tickets in their hometown online.

Atlanta fan Lonnell Williams told TODAY, in a segment that aired May 10, that he's already secured his seat to tonight's show in Sweden.

"I just couldn’t get like a pre-sale code. And it was just so much drama," he said.

Beyonce

In Stockholm, Williams found a club seat in Club Renaissance, a VIP section, for $400. While that same ticket in Atlanta, now re-sale only, is going for $1,490.45, which he says is way more than what he's paying for airfare, hotel and food combined.

"I mean, literally, it’s costing me less than $1,000 bucks," he said.

June Joseph and her sister Karen are planning on doing the same thing too. They told TODAY that they've saved nearly $3,000 on VIP seats by flying from New York to France.

“My Pinterest board is set. I’m so excited. I’m working on my outfits now," Joseph said.

As for Raymart Dinglas, he wanted to avoid the hassle of buying tickets in the U.S. after he saw what happened when Taylor Swift announced her Eras tour and Ticketmaster dropped the ball while selling tickets online.

"The Taylor Swift thing was kind-of traumatizing," he said.

"I was not going to risk it. I wanted to see Beyoncé," he added.

That's why Dinglas decided to fly from Kansas City to Hamburg, Germany, so he and his partner could watch his very first Beyoncé concert.

"It was easy. I didn’t have to compete with millions of fans or whatever. And so and I didn’t have to wait for a code or anything. It was just one and done," he said.

TODAY has reached out to Ticketmaster for comment, but hasn’t heard back.

Beyoncé's tour marks the first time that she's done a world tour since 2018. In the U.S., tickets are more affordable in midwestern venues like Kansas City, where it'll only cost you bout $70, including fees, for the cheapest nosebleed seats.

In New York City, the cheapest seat at MetLife Stadium from a reseller is nearly $270, plus more than $50 in fees. That's why Williams told fans they need to act fast if they want to see the Queen perform.

"If you don’t have a passport, get a passport because Beyoncé is going to slay it everywhere she goes," he said.

Due to the high demand for Beyoncé's tour, Forbes projects that "'Renaissance' could gross between $275 million and $2.4 billion from tickets alone by the time it ends in September," making it one of her highest-grossing tours to date.

Beyoncé 'Renaissance' World Tour 2023: Dates And Where To Buy Tickets

bio photo

  • Beyoncé announced her "Renaissance" world tour Wednesday
  • Beyoncé will be touring across North America and Europe starting in May
  • "Renaissance" tour tickets will go on sale Monday

Beyoncé is going on tour this summer, nearly six years since her last solo trek.

The 41-year-old pop superstar announced via Instagram Wednesday that she's coming back to the main stage with her "Renaissance" world tour, which marks Beyoncé's first global tour since "On the Run II" in 2018.

"RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023," Beyoncé captioned an image from her album of the same name showing the singer riding a silver horse while wearing a sparkly silver ensemble and matching cowgirl hat.

The global tour, promoted by Live Nation and produced by Parkwood Entertainment, will kick off in Europe — starting in Stockholm, Sweden — in May before heading to North America.

The North American leg will start in Canada in July before heading to the U.S., with shows in Philadelphia, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans and her hometown of Houston.

The all-stadium tour is scheduled to play a total of 41 shows across 10 countries from May 10 to Sept. 27.

Registered BeyHive members have exclusive pre-sale access before tickets officially go on sale Monday.

"Beyoncé is distributing tickets in three different Verified Fan sales: BeyHive Presale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan; Citi Presale powered by Verified Fan and the General Verified Fan Onsale. Additionally, there will be a Verizon Up Presale. Registration windows vary by city, so check the schedule below and be sure to note when the window closes for the show you're interested in attending," Ticketmaster said on its website.

The tour will be staggering the U.S. ticket sales into three groups. Fans who want to register for Verified Fan presale will need to see which group their city is a part of ahead of time.

Registration for Group A is now open through Feb. 2, Group B until Feb. 9 and Group C until Feb. 16. Concertgoers can check out which city their group belongs to on Ticketmaster 's or Live Nation 's official website.

Citi cardmembers can sign up for the Beyoncé "Renaissance" world tour Citi Verified Fan registration starting now, before the bank's exclusive presale starts on Feb. 7 for Group A, Feb. 14 for Group B and Feb. 21 for Group C, all at 10 a.m. local time.

Although ticket prices are yet to be revealed on the official selling sites, ticket resellers such as Vivid Seats have already posted an estimated price range. The site valued the lowest ticket price at $526 and the highest, which it calls the Club Renaissance, at $9,682.

During Beyoncé's "Formation" world tour in 2016 and "On the Run II" world tour in 2018, ticket prices averaged $114 and $116, respectively, according to Billboard . The outlet said that it's most likely to increase by $200 this year.

The "Renaissance" world tour announcement follows the superstar's exclusive Dubai concert at the Atlantis the Royal on Jan. 21 — nearly five years after she last performed a full set at Coachella in 2018.

What Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour says about ‘passion tourism'

By greg iacurci,cnbc • published july 2, 2024 • updated on july 2, 2024 at 9:15 am.

  • Many Americans are paying to travel abroad to see a Taylor Swift concert. The Eras Tour is in multiple European cities this summer.
  • It's part of a trend known as "passion tourism."
  • Other recent or upcoming examples include travel for the Olympics in Paris, the total solar eclipse in North America, Carnival in Rio de Janeiro and the Euro Cup in Germany.

Taylor Swift's European tour was top of mind for Nikita Rao when planning where to go for her family's annual summer vacation .

Watch NBC Bay Area News 📺 Streaming free 24/7

Rao, her husband and two kids, who live in Bethesda, Maryland, headed overseas this past weekend: They have tickets to the pop star's concert in Amsterdam on Thursday.

The family built a weeklong itinerary around The Eras Tour event, spending a few days in London before making their way to the Netherlands for the show. They would have likely visited the two cities at some point in the future, but the Swift concert accelerated their timeline, said Rao, 43, who also saw a performance in Cincinnati last year with her daughter.

"My view on it was, we should do this — London and Amsterdam — because she'll be there," Rao said. "If I can get tickets, that'll just make the whole vacation amazing," she said of her thought process.

Why Taylor Swift is unique to 'passion tourism'

Taylor Swift fans gather outside Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for a concert in Madrid, Spain, on May 29, 2024.

It's not just the Rao family.

Americans are flocking overseas to see Taylor Swift, perhaps the most prominent recent example of so-called "passion tourism," according to travel experts.

Get a weekly recap of the latest San Francisco Bay Area housing news. Sign up for NBC Bay Area’s Housing Deconstructed newsletter.

Passion tourism revolves (unsurprisingly) around people's passions. While place is also generally important, these trips are generally guided by personal interest, hobby or a cultural event, experts said.

This isn't a new concept. In fact, there are many recent and upcoming examples: February's annual Carnival festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; April's total solar eclipse in North America; the 2024 Paris Olympics that start this month; and the ongoing UEFA European Football Championship (known as the Euro Cup) in Germany.

"Memorable events are driving travel trends, whether it is for concerts or sporting events," Mastercard wrote recently in its annual travel trends report.

More from Personal Finance: Flying is cheaper in 2024. But not for some destinations Vacationers expect to carry summer travel debt 5 ways to maximize your vacation days

However, what distinguishes Taylor Swift concerts in the realm of passion tourism is the broad interest and enthusiasm among Americans who want to travel abroad, according to travel agents.

"I've never seen this excitement to travel to go see an artist," said Jessica Griscavage, a travel advisor and founder of Runway Travel.

The most recent example that might come close is a Spice Girls concert in the 1990s, she said.

Griscavage, who put together the Rao family's itinerary, also assembled a separate Swift-centered trip to Paris for a daughter, mother and grandmother.

More than half of Americans, 53%, identify as fans of Taylor Swift, according to a poll by Morning Consult. About 16% consider themselves "avid" fans.

"Beyoncé is big, too, but we don't usually get requests like, 'I have Beyoncé tickets for Europe and we want to build a trip around it,'" said Sofia Markovich, a travel advisor and founder of Sofia's Travel.

She assembled trips for two U.S. clients who had tickets for Taylor Swift shows in England and Switzerland, respectively.

"Just as Grateful Dead fans were known to follow the band from city to city to be part of a unique community, Swifties — often with friends and family in tow — have made traveling to her concerts part of the experience," Joshua Friedlander, vice president of research at the U.S. Travel Association, wrote recently about the so-called "Swift Lift."

'Inevitable' that Swifties will travel to new places

About 15.9 million Americans traveled internationally in the first quarter of 2024, an all-time high, according to Mastercard's travel report. Consumers are also spending for travel at record levels globally, it said.

Passion tourism generally provides an economic boost to host nations, experts said.

For example, spending by tourists at restaurants, bars and grocery stores during the 2024 Carnival in Rio was 156% above normal, Mastercard found. During the solar eclipse, hotel sales within the U.S. path of totality rose 71%, it said.

Spectators looking up at the solar eclipse at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 8, 2024.

About 1.2 million fans will see a Taylor Swift concert this summer across four cities in the United Kingdom (Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London), according to a recent Barclays analysis. Each fan will spend an average 848 British pounds (about $1,073) on tickets, travel, accommodation, outfits and other expenses, amounting to a total 997 million British pounds (about $1.3 billion), Barclays estimated.

Accommodation accounts for the largest outlay after tickets, followed by travel, according to the Barclays analysis.

Searches for Airbnb stays in European cities during Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour dates are up about 70% relative to the same period in 2023, according to a recent analysis.

Rome and Paris are traditionally among Americans' top destinations to visit abroad. However, it's "inevitable" that Swift fans will end up in a city they may have previously overlooked, like Edinburgh, said Christopher Nulty, global head of corporate communications and public affairs at Airbnb.

When tickets went on sale last year for Edinburgh concert dates, searches for lodging in the city by Americans jumped 500%, Nulty said.

A concert "combines the opportunity to travel somewhere incredible with the opportunity to see an artist they love," he said.

The household economics of ticket sales are also likely playing a role, experts said. Some Swifties who were priced out of the U.S. market due to ticket expense may find it cheaper overall (or comparably priced) to buy a ticket and add on the associated travel expenses for a concert overseas.

"The resale tickets in Europe are much more reasonable than what they are in the U.S.," said Griscavage, the travel advisor.

Additionally, "I think there's something really exciting about seeing her in a non-U.S. city," she added. "It's a fun opportunity and people are willing to pay to see her."

The sun is hot, but the tunes are hotter. We’re only halfway through 2024, and some of the biggest names in music have already released albums.

That’s as good a reason as any to take stock of this year’s releases. Here are The Associated Press’ picks for the year’s best...so far.

POP POWERHOUSES:

Beyoncé, “act ii: cowboy carter”.

It is rare for a pop album to function as a catchy body of work and an accessible masterclass on an underserved and undercelebrated history. But on “Act II: Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé’s epic 78-minute, 27-track release , she accomplishes just that. Across the release, B positions herself in opposition to country music’s rigid power structures and educates listeners on its origins in Black music.

Taylor Swift, “The Tortured Poets Department”

Swift’s 11th album is an amalgamation of her moody synth-pop (as heard on 2022’s “Midnights” ) and literary folk compositions ( “evermore” and “folklore”) — the direct result of an artist who has spent the last few years re-recording her life’s work and touring its material. Storytelling is at the fore, delivered through an ascendant vocal run or an elegiac verse that highlight her narrative powers.

Billie Eilish, “Hit Me Hard and Soft”

Eilish’s 10-track album is stacked with rewarding fake outs. Like in the opener “Skinny,” which launches into the saccharine falsetto of her award-winning “Barbie” ballad “What Was I Made For?” only to abandon the format for the pulsating pop and sapphic yearning of “Lunch.” There is techno and hyperpop, acoustic ballads and a return to her gothic vaudeville.

Image

Ariana Grande, “eternal sunshine”

For Grande’s first album in four years , the pop singer teamed up with the mysterious Swedish hitmaker Max Martin for a collection of songs that range from earworm hooks filtered ’90s house music (“yes, and?”), wobbly ’00s R&B pop (“True Story”), Y2K revivalism (“The Boy Is Mine,” inspired by the Brandy and Monica classic) and Robyn-esque euro-pop (“we can’t be friends (wait for your love).”)

Shakira, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”

In the seven years since Shakira’s last album, she separated from soccer player Gerard Piqué, leading to what she’s called the “dissolution of my family,” and she faced charges of tax evasion in Spain. But she transformed that pain into art on “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” from the bachata “Monotonía” to the electro-pop “Te Felicito” to the mega viral “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and beyond.

HONORABLE MENTION: Dua Lipa’s “Radical Optimism,” Tyla, “Tyla,” Kacey Musgraves, “Deeper Well,” Usher’s “Coming Home”

RAP RENASSIANCE:

Chief keef, “almighty so 2”.

Something shifted when Chief Keef released his “Almighty So” mixtape in 2013. The exemplar of Chicago drill, the rap subgenre that would define its moment, Chief Keef was a viral teenager whose sound would be heard round the world. Eleven years later, his long-teased sequel, “Almighty So 2” delivers with the immediacy of the first — but it is markedly different. Keef has never sounded more polished, more professional — but he stays true to himself.

Schoolboy Q, “Blue Lips”

On his sixth album, the LA rapper Schoolboy Q pushes himself to traverse new, unexpected territory — five years since 2019’s “Crash Talk,” and undeniably worth the wait. There are good time tracks (“THank god 4 me”) and songs of disruption (“Germany ’86”). It makes for an interesting tension – and room for discovery with each listen.

Sexyy Red, “In Sexyy We Trust”

Last year’s “Hood Hottest Princess” introduced listeners everywhere to a young, hot new Midwest MC — a fearless, funny rapper by the name Sexyy Red. This year, she’s followed it up with a mixtape, “In Sexyy We Trust,” a not-safe-for-work collection of bright, horny rap records. If you thought she was going to settle for just one viral moment, guess again.

HONORABLE MENTION: Future and Metro Boomin, “We Don’t Trust You,” Young Miko, “Att.,” Flo Milli, “Fine Ho, Stay,” Vince Staples, “Dark Times”

RULEBREAKERS:

Charli xcx, “brat”.

English pop singer-songwriter Charli XCX’s sixth album oscillates between hedonism and anxiety — the euphoria of a late night on the dancefloor and the creeping disquietude of the morning after — as much as it does her in-between status as pop queen of the underground and sometimes mainstream success story. As “Brat” summer swings in full force, it seems like she’s leaning more and more to the latter.

Kali Uchis, “Orquídeas”

On her fourth studio album, the largely Spanish-language “Orquídeas” (“Orchids” in English), Colombian American singer Kali Uchis’ ability to create lush, fluid sonic worlds reaches new heights. On “Orquídeas,” it is all sultry songs about love, loss and divination. These are self-possessed songs across a spectrum of heritages, made cohesive through her unique filter.

RM, “Right Place, Wrong Person”

The thoughtful leader of BTS , RM is usually philosophical in his solo work, unafraid to take big sonic risks, sometimes with big rewards. On “Right Place, Wrong Person,” his second solo album, RM continues to ask the big questions atop elastic, genre-averse production, from the wet, funky bass of “Nuts,” the avant-garde “Around the world in a day” to the surprising shoegaze of “Heaven.”

HONORABLE MENTION: Carin León, “Boca Chueca, Vol. 1,” Brittney Spencer, “My Stupid Life,” Álvaro Díaz, “Sayonara,” Ayra Starr, “The Year I Turned 21,” Shaboozey , “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going”

ALBUMS YOU MIGHT’VE MISSED:Cindy Lee, “Diamond Jubilee”

Where did “Diamond Jubilee” come from? Cindy Lee — the drag alter-ego of Women’s Patrick Flegel, a fixture of Canadian indie rock since the early 2010s — released this lo-fi gem as an unmarked YouTube link. It meant listeners had to sink into its psych and garage rock in full – all two hours and 32-minutes. It’s unusual that an album this surprising, expansive and beneath the mainstream manages to break out onto best of lists.

Waxahatchee, “Tigers Blood”

The indie artist Waxahatchee, known for her gut-wrenching alt-country, demonstrates mastery of her craft on her sixth studio album, “Tigers Blood.” Waxahatchee, the musical moniker of Katie Crutchfield, is at her most evocative when documenting everyday realities. “Tigers Blood” finds simple joys; gone are tortured emotions and self-doubt communicated through distorted riffs of her previous work. Start with “Right Back to It,” featuring guitarist MJ Lenderman , which moves from country to indie rock seamlessly. It’s about easing into the later years of a steady and reliable relationship – and it sounds exciting.

Mannequin P----, “I Got Heaven”

Philadelphia punk band Mannequin P---- have never been accused of being restrained. On their latest album, “I Got Heaven,” ferociousness, self-assurance and desire are one in the same. The band moves from lust and fear (“I Got Heaven”) to dominance (“Loud Bark”) and freedom (“Aching”), playing with Christian lyricism and sexuality in the same breath. It makes for a high-octane listen — not for the faint of heart, but certainly for anyone looking for an energizing record that moves from dreamy pop to abrasive hardcore with ease.

Adrianne Lenker, “Bright Future”

It may be the summer, but this sounds like spring. Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker’s fifth solo album is simple, sparse, and singular. Her folk-y vocal tone, immediately recognizable to her most devoted listeners, is time-honored – with little more than an acoustic guitar and a harmony, she composes elegant songs with a classic sensibility. Sometimes, the most thoughtful creations utilize the fewest tools.

HONORABLE MENTION: Kim Gordon, “The Collective,” Helado Negro, “Phasor,” Hurray for the Riff Raff, “The Past Is Still Alive,” Modu Moctar, “Funeral for Justice”
