AmaWaterways has created a match made in heaven to enable you to do just that—luxury river cruising and golf.

AmaWaterways’ Exclusive Concierge Golf Program includes 7 nights on board the flagship of our Danube River fleet, AmaMagna, taking you to some of Europe’s most prestigious golf courses.

With this seamless golfing experience, guests are transferred from ship to course and back by private luxury Mercedes. Once on the course, you need only golf and the day is yours to enjoy—your tee time, practice balls and golf cart are prepared in advance, and after your round, delight in a lunch at the course clubhouse. When it’s time to transfer back to the AmaMagna, your clubs will be cleaned and ready for the next course on your golf adventure.

Please note: Golf course visits replace other excursions on same day for guests participating in the Golf Program.

The Courses

Designed by Kyle Philips, the golf course gives its first preview of the exciting times awaiting the golfer on this journey as they a greeted by the Troon Prive Concierge. Following a warm up on the sublime Driving Range and practice facilities, a stunning golf course will take the golfer on an incredible journey of golf architecture, playability and fun factor.

Considered the leading golf course in the Czech Republic, this wonderful course will start your golfing tour off in perfect style.

Regal golfing pleasure on lush greens and perfect fairways – this championship course, created by former Masters champion Bernhard Langer, seems to be one with the meadow landscape surrounding the small river Rott and was awarded a “world class” rating within one year of opening. The 18 holes in Penning, right beside the Porsche Golf Course, do indeed pack a punch. They don’t hold back when it comes to challenges, but also offer sufficient opportunities for some serious success.

What makes this golf course so special is the quality of the hand-mown greens and fairways, which remain tip-top even during the summer thanks to a double-row irrigation system

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful courses in the world, and not only according to Golf Digest. This Jeff Howes design is truly a masterpiece and even after playing it countless times there are still moments of “Wow!” and “Incredible!” Situated amidst the impressive scenery of the alpine foothills, Golf Club Adamstal is a true jewel—from the well-tended greens and fairways to the clubhouse.

The magnificent 27-hole course perfectly blends into the high forest, providing a place to feel at peace. The panoramic view and the pleasant atmosphere guarantee a pure golf experience. Amongst its fans, Golf Club Adamstal has always ranked as one of the top golf courses in Europe.

This 18-hole golf course has been built according to plans authored by Nicklaus Design, one of the world’s leading design firms. The Nicklaus Design LEGEND COURSE complies with USGA standards at the world PGA level. 60% of the world’s golf courses which host PGA tournaments have been designed by Nicklaus Design. Along with many other scenic features, this course counts the longest hole in Europe among its challenges.

The 787 Yard par 6 15th hole awaits golf enthusiasts, offering 11 tees. The view alone is fascinating.

The 18-hole golf course of Pannonia Golf & Country Club was designed by the famous Austrian course designer Hans G. Erhardt. The golf course lies in a valley so the varied forms of its fairways provide a great golf experience. Lakes come into play at 8 holes and pin placements may also present a challenge at the hilly greens. With 6 different tee-boxes, both beginners and advanced players can get a true and fair idea of their golf skills. The natural environment and the beautiful, carefully maintained course inspires golf players to hit great shots.

Erhardt also designed the Golf course Fontana, host of the Austrian Open for many years and believes that Pannonia is still the best course in Hungary.

AmaWaterways expanded its fleet in 2019 by introducing AmaMagna ( fact sheet ), the most luxurious ship on the Danube River.

AmaMagna is twice the width of traditional river cruise ships, yet welcomes only 20 percent more guests, allowing generous personal space - with more than half of the 98 staterooms designated as suites measuring between 355 and 710 sq. ft.

Guests are warmly welcomed aboard, unpack once and step off the ship into the heart of the destination ready to explore, with no crowds or long queues to embark or disembark. AmaMagna also gives guests the luxury of choice in where they dine each day with four unique restaurants on board.

Amawaterways launch golf river cruise packages.

AmaWaterways has announced the launch of a golfing programme developed in conjunction with LGT Golf to further expand the Active Discovery programme.

The exclusive 10-night packages will launch on the Danube in April 2017 and combine 7 nights on an AmaWaterways river cruise, 3 nights in Prague and the opportunity to play golf on Championship courses in five European countries:

• Albatross Golf Centre, Prague, Host of the Czech Open
• Bad Griesbach, Germany, Host of the Porsche European Open
• Diamond Course, Atzenbrugg, Austria, Host of the Lyoness Austrian Open
• Legends Course, Senica, Slovakia, Host of the Slovakian Open
• Pannonia Country Club, Budapest, Hungary, Host of the Hungarian Open

There are no minimum numbers required and the golf package is available on every Danube sailing in 2017.

The packages include a 3 night pre or post stay in Prague in 5* accommodation where guests will have time at leisure and the opportunity to play on the acclaimed Albatross Golf Centre before or after joining their AmaWaterways cruise in Vilshofen.

“I have based the selection criteria on the same aspects that I would want for my own holiday, selecting golf courses that have hosted a European Tour, Ladies European Tour, Challenge Tour or Seniors Tour tournament. This is because I know the stringent quality criteria that the respective tours demand of a golf course,” said Nicholas Boekdrukker, Managing Director of LGT Golf.

He continued, “Everything will have been arranged in advance for the guests – their tee time, practice balls for their warm up and pull trolleys. After their round, they will enjoy lunch in the clubhouse while their clubs are cleaned by our staff. We then return the guests to their river cruise ship by private transportation – even if the ship has moved on to its next stop”
