Welcome to Ketchikan, otherwise known as Alaska’s “First City” and “Salmon Capital of the World.” We encourage you to arrive early and explore the community’s rich culture, history, and biodiversity. After boarding the vessel, take in the sights of the beautiful Tongass Narrows as you set out on your journey to explore True Alaska .

Immerse yourself in the extraordinary history, art, and Tsimshian cultural traditions of the Metlakatla Indian Community on Annette Island. In the evening, your ship will glide beneath the glacier-sculpted cliffs of Misty Fjords—one of Southeast Alaska’s national monuments. Discover the fjord’s natural history, listen to the calls of a myriad of seabirds, and see famous New Eddystone Rock, a stunning volcanic core.

Walk an enchanted forest path laden with intricately carved totem poles to the Chief Son-i-Hat Whale-House— the only remaining traditional Haida longhouse in the United States. Inside stand four original house posts, or “Gáats,” that were most likely carved at Old Kasaan in about 1880.

Home to a little over 2,000 permanent residents, Wrangell is the only town in Alaska to have been under the jurisdiction of three flags and ruled by four nations—the Tlingit, Russia, England, and the United States. Enjoy several options to explore this colorful history, including a guided tour and a trip to the Wrangell Museum. Visit the intriguing state historic park, Petroglyph Beach, which contains the highest concentration of petroglyphs in Southeast Alaska.

Scout for humpback whales and other marine mammals in Frederick Sound. Humpbacks are famous for behavior that lends itself to incredible viewing and photography, such as tail lobbing, lunge feeding, pectoral slapping, breaching, and picturesque dives that showcase their massive fluke. Journey through Tracy or Endicott Arm in the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness—a place the famous naturalist, John Muir, called, “a wild, unfinished Yosemite.” Renowned for its glaciers, pristine waterfalls, towering icebergs, abundant harbor seals, and granite cliffs that rise from sea level to 4,000 feet, this wilderness is often referred to by locals as one of the most scenic areas in the state.”

Spend the day visiting highlights of the scenic capital city of Juneau. In downtown Juneau, visit the recently renovated Alaska State Museum. There will also be time to explore on your own. You may choose to visit the Juneau-Douglas City Museum, Alaska State Capitol, or take in the spectacular panoramic views of the Mount Roberts Tram. You can also delve deeper into local Native culture and history by exploring fascinating exhibits, art displays, and a clan house at the Walter Soboleff Center. End the day’s adventure with a relaxing evening at Orca Point Lodge, our own exclusive day lodge on Colt Island*. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, beach, and marine life viewing tank. Roast s’mores while nestled next to a beachside bonfire, and enjoy other Alaska treats from the warmth of the lodge.

*The lodge stop is subject to availability. If scheduling conflicts preclude the lodge an alternative evening activity will be determined by your captain and guide staff.

This remarkable national park fjord extends 65-miles, contains tidewater glaciers, and provides pristine habitat for a wide-array of wildlife, including both brown and black bears, wolves, mountain goats, Steller sea lions, and humpback whales. The highlight for many is Margerie Glacier or John Hopkins Glacier, which have been known for their dramatic calving displays.

Savor the serenity of raw wilderness on an unscripted morning and afternoon of Southeast Alaska discovery. The countless options are dictated by the day’s unique circumstances. Opportunities may include a coastline kayak paddle, up-close whale encounters, or a hike through an alluring old-growth forest. We may do a beach landing on an unspoiled shoreline to explore a tidal flat or track along with a foraging bear from the safety of our expedition skiff. Regardless of the activity, you’ll experience the magic of the archipelago’s many remote coves, bays, and inlets.

Disembark in beautiful Sitka, the only community in Southeast Alaska that faces the open ocean waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Transfer to your hotel or the airport is complimentary.

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. First of all, they’re completely stress-free. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the  destinations  you sail to and the  shore excursions  available at each port, to a full range of  entertainment  and activities happening onboard every day. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise. All of the ships in this cruise line’s fleet offer family-friendly experiences for guests of all ages. Even little ones will find plenty of ways to play with spaces and activities designed for tots to tweens. One of the top reasons savvy travelers love cruising, though, is because of the incredible value it offers. If you want to make your  experience  even more all-inclusive, you can opt for  beverage  and  specialty dining  packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your vacation.

If you’re already thinking about what to bring, summer in Alaska is beautiful with sunshine and possible showers. Below is a checklist to help you pack for your exceptional travel experience. Remember that your luggage will be delivered to your cabin at an unspecified time on the day of departure, so it’s a good idea to pack a change of clothes, toiletries and any medications you need in a carry-on bag to bring with you.

Packing Checklist

  • Casual clothes including pants, jeans, shorts, T-shirts, collared shirts or blouses
  • Light sweater or jacket
  • Semi-formal clothes or dress clothes for 1-2 evenings, depending on the length of your cruise
  • Bathing suit and a cover-up or wrap
  • Light raincoat or compact umbrella
  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals with rubber soles
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Toiletries, in a sealed, clear bag inside your luggage
  • Minor First Aid care items such as Band-Aids, aspirin, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Medications in their original containers
  • Hair care appliances (see information on Using Electronics)
  • Small bag or backpack for port days; large enough to carry your camera and other personal items
  • Passport with separate photocopy

Dining Dress Code

On a typical seven-day cruise, you’ll have two nights of dressing up for dinner or other special events. We suggest a semi-formal dress or skirt and blouse for women and a dark suit for men. The remaining dinners on the cruise are informal—blouse and pants for women; collared shirt with trousers for men. Remember that T-shirts, shorts or tank tops are not permitted in the dining room.

Packing Tips

Make certain your suitcase closes and fastens securely. Mark your luggage and carry-on bag with your name and address so you can distinguish them easily. We also recommend you put identification information—name, address and phone number—INSIDE your luggage in case the luggage tags are lost in transit. We also suggest keeping your essential toiletries and a one-day change of clothes in your carry-on. Do not pack your passport or travel documents in your luggage. It is suggested that you keep a color copy of the information page of your passport inside your luggage if your passport is lost.

For more information, please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am – 5:00pm, Pacific Time.

We know how nice it is to have the convenience of home when traveling on a cruise. Bringing your electronics and hair appliances can enhance your overall travel experience. Every cruise ship has plugs that accept U.S. and Continental European devices, and you do not need to bring plug adaptors. Here are some things to know about your electronics before you pack them:

Phones, MP3 Players, Laptops, Cameras & Video Cameras

Most small digital devices have chargers that will fit in the plugs on a cruise ship. One thing to be mindful of is the limited plugs in each cabin; you may want to bring a multi-plug extension cord.

Blow Dryers, Curling Irons & Straighteners

Each stateroom has a hair dryer for your personal convenience. If you prefer your hair appliances, you may want to consider purchasing or borrowing compact and travel-friendly appliances.

For more information, please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

The scenic beauty of Alaska can be enjoyed from onboard the ship and to make the most of your cruise vacation, you can also get out into the local ports. Shore excursions offer something for everyone. Choose from city tours, culinary explorations, shopping outings, cultural activities and more.

Because shore excursions have limited capacity and fill up quickly, we recommend you book early for the best selection on your cruise. Once you’ve booked your Inspiration cruise, check out the customized cruise line excursion list based on your itinerary. Using your cruise booking number, you can easily book shore excursions online as early as 60 days before your trip and up to 3 days before departure, depending on the cruise line.

Visit the cruise line’s website to find information on specific excursions:

  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Holland America Line
  • Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Royal Caribbean International

You may also register for your Shore Excursions once onboard the ship. All shore excursion requests are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Waitlisted requests for sold-out shore excursions will be processed before requests made onboard.

For more information please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

We want to help make your trip as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. We can book motorcoach transfers for you from the airport to your cruise departure port and on your return trip.

Hotel Stays

Remember that you always have the option of arriving earlier or staying later. For example, hotel reservations may be available if you want to arrive a few days early before boarding your cruise or stay a few days after the cruise returns.

As you plan for your upcoming Christian cruise with Inspiration, you may wonder about using money and credit cards during your travels. We’ve made the following recommendations to help you save money, avoid unnecessary fees and focus on an exceptional travel experience.

  • Consider leaving all unnecessary credit cards at home.
  • Once you determine which cards you’ll bring, remember to notify each credit card company of your intended travel dates and locations to ensure fraud alerts and holds are not placed on your accounts.
  • For each card, you’ll want to store the bank’s contact information in a separate, secure location in the unlikely event your wallet or purse is lost or stolen.

Almost all businesses in Victoria or Vancouver, Canada accept U.S. credit or debit cards. If you plan to use your credit cards, you’ll want to check with each credit card company to determine the international exchange fee for each card. Because the difference of a few percentage points could cost you more (depending on your purchases), we recommend using cards with lower international exchange fees. Using your credit card for large purchases gives you more protection for the items you buy on your trip. You can review your credit card statement to verify all of your purchases.

The Canadian Dollar (C$) is the official currency when your cruise stops in Canada, however U.S. dollars are widely accepted. When paying in U.S. dollars expect change in Canadian Dollars so bring small bills. If traveling with currency other than the U.S. dollar you may exchange money onboard the ship, although we always recommend checking the exchange rate before traveling to a foreign country.

Today’s technology allows you to stay connected while traveling—ensuring you get that memorable photo or message from your loved ones. On most ships, you should be able to use your cell phone or smartphone to do everything you’re used to doing at home. In addition, mobile phones provide convenient access for emergencies and confirming travel plans. Some basic guidelines and tips will help you save money, keep your phone working effectively and stay in touch.

Before you leave

Spending some time contacting your cell phone carrier before your trip will help ensure you can call friends and family back home and eliminate any surprises on your phone bill when you return. Let your phone carrier know your travel plans, including how you plan to use your phone on your cruise. You’ll want to make sure you understand all of the potential charges. Contact your carrier for specific information.

Check with your carrier for international dialing access

You will want to make sure international and cruise package dialing is active on your mobile phone plan so that you can use it in the Canadian ports and remember that international and maritime roaming rates will apply to calls placed onboard the ship (charges will appear on your phone bill). Because roaming rates can be high on cruises, checking with your carrier for specific cost details before you leave is a good idea.

Aboard your flight and cruise

Your cell phone’s battery life is the key to keeping you connected. Below are some tips for staying powered up on your trip:

  • Remember to set your phone to Airplane Mode when you board your flight. You can also do this aboard the cruise when sailing to avoid roaming charges unless you have the cruise ship package with your carrier. This suspends all calling and texting functions but still allows you to play games, use your camera and listen to music, etc.
  • On the cruise, you’ll want to charge your phone every night to ensure enough battery life for the next day.
  • Try to turn off your phone when you’re not using it. Leaving your phone on all day drains the battery, so it’s a good idea to turn it off while you’re on a shore excursion, eating or reading.

Smartphone tips

As one of the most popular communication devices today, smartphones have revolutionized how we connect and the world. We know leaving your smartphone behind for an hour, much less multiple days is difficult. The following tips will help you save your phone’s battery life and get the most out of your smartphone while on the cruise:

  • Before your cruise, you’ll want to disable any applications that give you regular updates, such as sports reports and weather updates.
  • Disable the Data Enabled or Data Roaming option on your phone and keep it off until you reach your destination. Turn off the function for “Automatic” checking of emails and change the email settings to “Manual” to reduce data roaming charges. During your trip, you can check for email messages when connected to a free, wireless Internet connection, such as in a hotel lobby or Internet cafe while in port.

In-room phones and phone cards

If you choose to not bring your mobile phone, you can stay in touch with others while on your cruise using the in-room phones. Please make sure you understand all of the charges associated with this before you place your call, as the rates can be expensive.

An Alaskan cruise vacation allows you to explore multiple locations without the hassle of checking in and out of hotels, packing and unpacking, and spending valuable time trying to find quality restaurants–all with excellent service dedicated to enhancing your exceptional travel experience.

Each cruise line makes rewarding the excellent service you’ll receive onboard easy. A gratuity of $16-$19 per day (depending on the cruise line and cabin category), per guest for dining and stateroom services will be automatically added daily to your shipboard account. The cruise line also will automatically add an 18% service charge to beverages purchased through your onboard account. Before the end of the cruise, the Cruise Director will address more specific questions regarding tipping procedures.

If you take a taxi to the pier, it’s common to simply round up to the next dollar when paying your tab. The cab drivers appreciate this, and it is considered part of their income. When you arrive at the ship on embarkation day, we suggest tipping the porters at the pier $1.25 per bag when they take your luggage to place it on the ship. When visiting restaurants off the ship and during shore excursions, a 15-20% tip for restaurant service workers is appreciated.

With its richly dense rainforests and towering glaciers, Alaska is a place unlike any other— anywhere you look is a stunning site. We recommend whale watching; Juneau is home to the majestic humpback whales. Disney Cruise Line reveals ship deployment plans for late 2025, early 2026

P ort Canaveral, Florida, will get to keep three Disney Cruise Line ships in late 2025 as the sailing plans for six of what will be eight ships in the fleet were revealed.

That includes Disney Treasure, set to debut this winter, and 2022’s Disney Wish as well as older ships Disney Magic and Disney Fantasy trading off sailing duties.

The new homeport and sailing plans for Disney Destiny, a sister ship to Wish and Treasure, were not announced, but they're slated to be delivered to the line at a yet-to-be-revealed date in 2025 and could end up at DCL’s new second Florida home in Port Everglades.

Also debuting in 2025 will be the Asia-bound Disney Adventure, but for now, DCL only revealed sailing plans for its two original ships, Magic and Wonder, its two decade-plus-old ships Dream and Fantasy and its two most recent ships, Wish and Treasure.

Port Canaveral will continue to host Wish sailing short three- and four-night Bahamas trips, while Treasure will continue with seven-night Caribbean sailings.

Disney Magic, which arrives to the port in summer 2025, will remain through October and then be replaced with Disney Fantasy in November, doing a four- and five-night set of itineraries through May 2026.

Wish, Magic and Fantasy all have some trips that visit Disney’s newest private Bahamas destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, which welcomed first guests this month. Some sailings visit both Lookout Cay and the line’s original Bahamas private island, Castaway Cay.

Many of the September and October sailings will take on the popular Halloween on the High Seas theming while November and December sailings will have the Very Merrytime holiday theme.

Disney Magic has not sailed from Port Canaveral since 2016, and as the line’s oldest ship has been tasked with bouncing around the world for short-term stays at various markets. It will do so again after October, first heading to Puerto Rico for a series of seven-night Caribbean sailings, and then making its way to Galveston, Texas, for four- to seven-night western Caribbean trips through May 2026.

Disney Dream will keep sailing from its new year-round home in Port Everglades, which opened for business last fall. It will tackle three- to five-night Bahamas trips visiting either Lookout Cay, Castaway Cay or both, as well as some stops in Nassau through May 2026.

After a summer of Alaska sailings, Disney Wonder will continue its late 2025 duties in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, returning to the West Coast homeporting in San Diego beginning in March 2026 for three- and four-night Mexican Riviera sailings. This will be the third season Disney Wonder has sailed from Australia.

Bookings for the new itineraries open to the public June 28, with earlier dates available for the line’s variety of club-level members, but details can already be found on disneycruise.com.

Highlights of 2025 Cruises to The Caribbean

Many of Norwegian's Caribbean cruises have the same ports of call on their itineraries. These destinations are among the most desirable in The Caribbean, so you can experience some of the best the region has to offer. Let's take a closer look at the highlights of Norwegian's 2025 cruises to The Caribbean to give you a better sense of what to expect on your journey:

  • Cartagena, Colombia: Featured in the 14-day cruise on Norwegian Jewel to the Panama Canal, which sails in January 2025, Cartagena is a historic Colombian city that's rich in natural beauty and urban splendor. Some must-see attractions are Old City Cartagena, Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, and the Palacio de la Inquisición.
  • Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic: Located just southeast of the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, Cabo Rojo is a beloved beach destination because of its unspoiled nature and extraordinary coastal views. The azure waters are also home to some of The Caribbean's best-preserved coral reefs, offering sightings of fauna such as manatees and hawksbill sea turtles.
  • Cozumel, Mexico: Cozumel is an island situated off the eastern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. Here, you have ample opportunities for water activities, such as fishing, snorkeling, and diving, as well as explorations of wilderness at Punta Sur Ecological Park or the island's east side.

Cruise terminal in Ocho Rios, Jamaica

  • George Town, Grand Cayman: Though only around 22 miles long, Grand Cayman has abundant offerings for beachgoers, culture and history buffs, art lovers, and families alike, and George Town provides easy access to it all. Some of the most popular destinations are Seven-Mile Beach, the Cayman Farmers Market, and the Cayman Islands National Museum, which features over 8,000 items.
  • Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas: Norwegian owns a 268-acre private paradise known as Great Stirrup Cay and offers it exclusively to our guests. In addition to beaches and water sports, the island offers opportunities for ziplining, shopping, and splashing alongside the famous Bahamian swimming pigs.
  • Puerto Limón, Costa Rica: Puerto Limón , bursting with natural beauty, is well-suited to a broad range of cruisers. Adventure seekers may want to go ziplining amid the rainforest canopy or rafting down the Río Pacuare, and water lovers can go snorkeling at Cahuita National Park. If you're looking for a quieter time, relax on the beach or look for sloths near the port or in Vargas Park.
  • St. George's, Grenada: St. George's , the capital of Grenada, is rich in distinctive experiences. One of the most unique sights is the haunting Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park, accessible via snorkeling or scuba diving. Other special activities to consider are rum distillery tours, tasting tours, and hiking to the Seven Sisters Waterfalls.

American Cruise Lines wants to ramp up connection to downtown New Bedford. What to know.

alaska cruise in 2025

NEW BEDFORD — American Cruise Lines made 25 port of calls to New Bedford in 2023, will make 36 this year and expects to make 56 in 2025, company officials say.

By May 1, 2026, they hope to be making even more stops in New Bedford at their proposed "New Bedford Cruise Gateway," a park-like facility on the southern side of New Bedford State Pier.

They say it would be designed to connect their passengers to New Bedford's historic downtown and tourism attractions.

One of seven proposals for New Bedford State Pier

It's one of seven proposals being considered by MassDevelopment for the eight acre pier's redevelopment.

A MassDevelopment review committee is considering the proposals and will make recommendations. A decision deadline has not been set.

The committee could recommend accepting the proposals in total or partially - none of which are mutually exclusive - or reject them all. Leases for successful proposals could run up to 35 years.

American Cruise Lines presented its plan during a public meeting at the New Bedford Whaling Museum in May, hosted by MassDevelopment, in which all seven proposals were presented by their respective petitioners.

Petitioners say increased dockings will benefit New Bedford economy

American Cruise Lines says its increased dockings will benefit the New Bedford economy, with its guests patronizing local businesses, vendors, and excursions.

Julia Riczu, American Cruise Lines executive assistant, said they've been operating in this area for over 20 years. The company itself has been in operation for over 50 years.

Their fleet currently includes 19 ships, with two under construction, and another three in the pipeline, she said. The company has its own shipyard in Maryland, and its headquarters are in Guilford, Conn.

Their ships are all under 350 feet, and can carry up to 200 guests.

Focus on small communities with rich history

They ply U.S. waters in 35 states, including rivers, focusing on small towns with rich histories.

Riczu said, "We go all up and down the East Coast, and up and down the Mississippi River, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska, as well."

Their guests are typically older, and are interested in an enriching cultural excursion into the areas they visit, she said.

Their proposed State Pier development connects their passengers to New Bedford's historic downtown, she said.

Will include vehicular, pedestrian access

It will include green space, vehicle access from MacArthur Drive, pedestrian access from Union Street, and a turnaround for passenger buses taking guests to and from excursions, Riczu said.

She said initial capital will be provided by American Cruise Lines without need for additional financing.

More funding for future structural updates will need to be discussed with state officials, she said.

Several financing options are available through the state.

Company has worked with public sector in the past

Riczu said the company has worked in partnerships with state and local governments in the past, including a lease agreement with Hannibal, Mo, as part of a park construction project.

Riczu said of the American Cruise Lines proposal, "We have done almost the same thing in a lot of cities and towns, and it's been very successful. It's an area of opportunity with mutual benefit."
