Day 1 (Mon) Frankfurt – Bonn – Cologne – Amsterdam (~500km) (Breakfast) The morning begins with a leisurely drive north-west from Frankfurt to Bonn , the capital of the former West Germany until reunification. The national government is now in Berlin, but Bonn retains a rich history that is well worth exploring. Discover the city’s secrets on an orientation stroll through its streets, walking past highlights such as the Rococo-fronted town hall and Ludwig Van Beethoven Haus , a museum celebrating the life of the much-loved composer. Then it’s on to Cologne, where you’ll head inside the city’s glorious Gothic Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Cologne further, to do a spot of local shopping or to simply relax with a suitably refreshing German brew. Day 2 (Tue) Amsterdam – Zaanse Schans – Amsterdam (~50km) (Breakfast) A day of delights begins with a leisurely trip through the Dutch countryside, where you’ll get to sample at close quarters some of the things that the Netherlands is traditionally famous for: clogs, cheese and windmills. Call in at the hugely popular model town of Zaanse Schans . Next, you’ll head from the quiet countryside to the cosmopolitan city as your journey takes you back to Amsterdam. After visiting a well-known diamond factory , where you’ll see the unique cutting techniques that have been practised here since the 16th century, you can take an optional hour-long pre-dinner canal cruise, which is a great way to discover more about this unique European city. After disembarking you’ll walk to one of the city’s grandest areas, Dam Square , where the Royal Palace is located and the King’s birthday celebration takes place. On the way, the tour stops to see the distinctive Atomium monument , a cell-shaped structure of stainless-steel spheres and tubes built for the 1958 World’s Fair. In the centre of Brussels itself an orientation tour will call in at the exquisite Grand Place , as well as seeing the famous impish Manneken Pis Statue . After some free time, you can try some mouth-watering Belgian delights. Day 4 (Thu) Paris – Versailles – Paris (~60km) (Breakfast) Paris is your oyster over the next two days as you enjoy guided tours around one of the world’s most celebrated cities. Your Parisian adventures get off to a spectacular start with a drive along the famous Champs Élysées to the Place de la Concorde , which played such a key part in the French Revolution. You’ll also get to see the iconic Arc de Triomphe here too, the imposing monument that sits near the western end of the avenue and commemorates the fallen of the revolution and Napoleonic wars. You’ll take in another significant historical building next as you head to L’Hôtel National des Invalides , where Napoleon’s tomb is located, followed by a stop at the most legendary of all Paris’s icons: the Eiffel Tower . Finally, you’ll travel on the coach out through the Parisian suburbs to the splendid Palace of Versailles , the vast regal château that was the residence of the royal family until the start of the revolution in 1789. Day 5 (Fri) Paris (Breakfast)  In the morning, depart to the pier and take a sightseeing boat cruise on the Seine River (own expenses), a great sightseeing option that offers splendid views of iconic Parisian landmarks, including Notre-Dame Cathedral and Pont Alexandre III . After a lunch, visit to the Louvre , one of the world’s greatest art museums. Here you’ll set your eyes upon some of history’s most famous masterpieces, including the Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace (also called Nike of Samothrace), and Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa . Opt for a guided gallery tour, which will enhance your experience and allow you to browse through hundreds of works in just a few hours. Enjoy seeing the historic attractions of provincial capital Reims, including the city’s cathedral – a key national heritage site, where coronations of French kings took place from the 11th century onwards. Day 7 (Sun) Luxembourg – Trier – Koblenz – Rudesheim am Rhein – Frankfurt (~400km) (Breakfast) Today we leave Luxembourg behind and head across another European border into Germany . The first stop is historic Trier, Germany’s oldest city and the birthplace of Karl Marx. You’ll have the chance to see from the outside the house where the influential philosopher was born, which now functions as the Karl Marx Haus museum . Your walking tour then takes you into the centre of Trier; here you can look around the city’s impressive cathedral, where the celebrated Holy Robe – said to be the tunic of Christ – is preserved and occasionally displayed. Trier is also known as ‘The Second Rome’ (Constantine served as an administrator here for 10 years), and significant legacies of the once-great empire remain today. The highlight is undoubtedly Porta Nigra , the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, which you’ll get to see and photograph. After an exciting morning in Trier, you’ll drive on to Koblenz, famous as the location of the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel rivers . Here you have the option of indulging in a relaxing lunch alongside the water, then afterwards you can also choose to add on a scenic Rhine boat cruise for some memorable city vistas. Back on dry land you’ll drive through the wine-making town of Rüdesheim (depending on road and traffic conditions). Day 1 (Sat) Paris -  Lucerne (~650km) (No Meal) After boarding the luxury coach in Paris, sit back and enjoy a scenic journey across classic French countryside en route to mountainous Switzerland.  You’ll pass through Basel, which is located at the point where the Swiss, French and German borders meet, before arriving at the picturesque lakeside city of Lucerne, nestled at the foot of the snowcapped Swiss Alps. Day 2 (Sun) Lucerne - Milan - Venice (~400km) (Breakfast) Head to south from Lucerne through spectacular Switzerland and into northern Italy, where your first stop will be Milan , fashion capital of the world. Your orientation tour will introduce you to the city’s iconic sights, including the vast Gothic cathedral (Duomo) . You’ll also see the planet’s oldest shopping mall, the 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II , where you can wander among the boutique shops and have lunch in one of the refined cafes. Day 3 (Mon) Venice - Rome (~550km) (Breakfast) Spend the morning with the local guide as you explore Venice, the most magical of cities. Begin with a waterbus ride to San Marco Island , a memorable crossing of the lagoon that gives you a real taste of the city’s charm as you approach the dreamy spires and distinctive waterside buildings. Once on the island you will be led around some of Venice’s best-known locations, beginning in the Piazzo with the Basilica di San Marco , a stunning piece of Byzantine architecture.  You will also see the legendary Bridge of Sighs , which appears on many a postcard or picture of Venice and connects the old prison to the interrogation rooms in the Doge’s Palace .  Afterwards you will have a chance to see some traditional Venetian craftwork at close quarters with a demonstration by Murano glassblowers ; their exquisite creations make excellent souvenirs. Of course, the ultimate Venice activity is to ride through the warren of waterways on a gondola, and for most people this optional excursion is a must. Day 4 (Tue) Rome - Vatican - Arezzo (~280km) (Breakfast) Your day in Rome starts with a visit to the smallest country in the world, The Vatican City , which lies at the heart of the Italian capital. Here you will marvel at St Peter’s Basilica , home to Pope Francis and arguably the most significant site in Christianity.  The exquisitely beautiful Basilica has been present here for almost 1,700 years and contains a bewildering collection of paintings, frescoes and design crafted by some of humanity’s most famous artists, which you can explore.  Alternatively you can choose to add on the optional Sistine Chapel tour to view Michelangelo’s famous painted ceiling. Next you will see the famous Coliseum , built in AD 72, a highly recommended must-see destination in Rome. History comes to life as you imagine yourself witnessing gladiatorial combat inside the spectacular Amphitheatre , or alternatively you can walk at your leisure around the outside to admire the facade of this ancient wonder. After the Coliseum, get up close to the nearby Arch of Constantine , which dates back to the fourth century AD, then spend some further free time enjoying Rome, sampling the rich and creamy delights of “gelato” Italian ice cream. - Accommodation: 3* hotel in Arezzo or city nearby

Day 5 (Wed) Arezzo - Florence - Pisa - Genoa nearby city (~250km) (Breakfast)  Your voyage of cultural discovery continues as you get to know Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and home to some fabulous architecture and fine art. Begin the day by taking in a wonderful panoramic overview of the city from Piazzale Michelangelo , which boasts glorious vistas over the red roofs, Arno River and ancient city walls out towards the surrounding countryside. Next you can see a demonstration of the traditional craft of leather working at Close quarters in a local workshop, and you will also have the opportunity to purchase some of the high-quality leather items for which the city is famous. From here you will enjoy a guided walk around Florence’s many highlights, including the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno , the Piazza del Duomo and Campanile Tower .  You will pass the Uffizi Gallery , which contains one of the most notable art collections in Florence.  You will have free time to see the city further, to shop or to watch the world go by from a streetside cafe, before travelling on to your next destination, Pisa. Here you are free to wander, but be sure to have your camera ready to get a shot of the iconic Leaning Tower , the famous bell tower in the ‘Square of Miracles’, which also contains the centuries-old Cathedral and Baptistry . Day 6 (Thu) Munich - Vadus -  Mt Titlis  -  Lucerne  - Zurich (~450km) (Breakfast)  A breathtaking drive along one of Europe’s most famous stretches of Mediterranean coastline waits as you say arrivederci to Italy and head for Monaco . This small principality, home to the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix .  A walking sightseeing tour here takes you to the grand Prince’s Palace , where you will have some free time to soak up the refined atmosphere, before continuing on to view the 1920s Courthouse , the Cliffside Oceanographic Museum , and the Cathedral , where Grace Kelly is buried. We then travel a little further to visit the famous Fragonard Perfume Factory . Here you will be taken on a fascinating guided tour around this working factory. Next it’s Nice, where you’ll stop for lunch to sample some excellent local cuisine and warm-hearted hospitality, Your journey continues to Cannes , where many a movie star has enjoyed the sweet smell of success. How to visit

The nearest international airport to Agra is Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Agra is about 250km from New Delhi.

By Air: All major cities in India and in the world have flights to New Delhi. From New Delhi, there are multiple ways to reach Agra.

By Road: You can easily drive down this road via Yamuna Expressway and reach Agra in about short three hours. Alternatively you can take a bus as well. Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation as well as private bus operators have around 10-12 buses daily between Delhi and Agra.

By Rail: There are more than a 100 trains that run between Delhi and Agra. The fastest ones are the Gatiman Express (12050) that leaves Delhi at 8:10am and reaches Agra at around 9:50am, and the New Delhi Bhopal Shatabdi that leaves Delhi at 6am and reaches Agra at around 8am.

These walls were built by Chinese emperors over a period of many years, with the first wall erected as early as 7th Century BC. The nearest international airport to the Great Wall of China is Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing. From there Badaling Great Wall can be reached within two short hours.

From New Delhi take a flight to Beijing. Average round trip flights cost Rs.30,000 .

From Beijing, there are many options to reach Badaling Great Wall, but the best way to go is to take a private taxi. A taxi will cost you around Rs. 10,000 for a day tour to and fro Beijing. There are multiple companies providing tours with guides and transportation to the Wall. You can book for one here as well.

But before you actually go to the Great Wall of China, it's necessary to understand what part of the Wall you want to visit. Badaling Great Wall is the most popular and gorgeous restored section of the Wall. If you don’t have much time, but you still want to have a glimpse of the Wall, especially on a busy day, choose Juyongguan Great Wall . For those travelling with kids of seniors, visit Mutianyu Great Wall , that has beautiful greenery and environment. Petra is a Jordanian wonder with archaeological, historical and architectural value. Carved directly into vibrant red, white, pink and sandstone cliff faces, the prehistoric Jordanian city of Petra was "lost" to the Western world for hundreds of years. Today, however, it is not only a wonder of the world but also a great monument which leaves you spellbound. The Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia in ancient times. Today it is the most recognisable tourist destination in Jordan, visited by almost four million tourists annually.

Fly from Rome to Amman, with a one-way ticket for around Rs. 20,000 on an average.

The entry ticket to Petra costs 50 JOD or Rs. 4,500 for one day's access, 55 JOD or Rs. 5,000 for two days and 60 JOD or Rs. 5,400 for three days. Petra can be seen in one day, but ideally two days is good to see the city at leisure.

You can visit Petra on a day trip from Amman or actually stay there and explore the city at length. JETT buses, both ordinary and all-inclusive guided tour, connect Amman to Petra for day tours. The cost for just the bus is around 20 JOD or Rs. 1,800 both ways. The guided tours can cost anything between 100 JOD to 250 JOD (Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 23,000) depending on the services you want to pick. The guided tours include an entry ticket of 50 JOD.

For 75 JOD (Rs. 6,800), you can also get a private taxi to take you back and forth from Amman, including the waiting time of around six hours while you tour around Petra.

It's advisable to stay in Amman and do a day-trip. However, if you wish to explore Petra in and out, there are accommodations available in Petra as well.

From Amman, fly to Cancun, the Mexico city closest to Chichén Itzá.

Chichén Itzá

The largest and the most impressive of Mayan ruins, Chichén Itzá today has become the most prominent tourist attraction in Mexico. The nearest international airport to Chichén Itzá is Cancun or Merida in Mexico. But flying to Cancun from Amman, is cheaper than Merida.

Fly from Amman to Cancun, with a one-way ticket costs around Rs. 54,000 .

The entry ticket to Chichén Itzá costs 242MXN or Rs. 900. From Cancun, operated by AOD, a daily bus leaves around 8:45am. It costs around 202MXN or Rs. 725, one way and takes around three hours to reach. You have four hours to explore the ruins before the return bus leaves. There is also a cheaper bus, costing around 122MXN or Rs. 450 and takes around four hours to reach.

However, there are many companies providing daily tours from Cancun to Chichén Itzá, inclusive of a guide. An average tour will cost you anywhere between $75 to $100 (Rs. 4800 - Rs. 6400) and includes a guided tour and a lunch. The transfers can be in private taxis or buses (depending on your tour). Entertainment Plus , Adventure Life , Olympus Tours & Cancun Adventures are some of the companies offering such tours. You can also pre-book these tours with Viator.

Christ the Redeemer - Alto da Boa Vista

A symbol of Christianity, and the cultural icon of Brazil, the styled-statue of Jesus Christ is the tallest statue in Brazil. Made by two sculptors, Paul Landowski, a French sculptor and Gheorghe Leonida, a Romanian sculptor, Christ the Redeemer is located atop the 2,300 feet tall Corcovado mountain. Earlier, visitors had to climb 200 steep steps to reach the top, but in 2003, a series of escalators and elevators were installed to make the climb much easier. The statue was completed in 1936, and today it is visited by around two million visitors yearly.

Fly from Cancun to Rio de Janeiro for Rs. 35,000 , one way.

Christ the Redeemer is located in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. The monument is accessible by road and a cog railway (3.8km), which provides fine views along the way. The train runs from 8am to 8pm and leaves every hour and a half. Tickets cost R$46 (Brazilian Real) or Rs. 950, which includes a round trip on the train, plus admission to see Christ the Redeemer.

By road, there are three options – one is a public van from the city centre to the top, that costs the same as the train; second is a private taxi that will take you almost to the top, wait for you there while you explore, and bring you back as well, costing somewhere around R$80 (Brazilian Real) or Rs. 1,700; the third and final option is taking a proper guided tour. A full-guided tour will cost anywhere around 80 to 150 USD or Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000.

The airport nearest to Machu Picchu is Cusco.

Fly to Cusco from Rio de Janeiro, the round trip-ticket costs around Rs. 40,000.

Machu Picchu is located on a mountain ledge and there isn't a direct way to reach here. You need to use a combination of transport options for this. A train runs between Poroy (near Cusco) to Aguas Calientes, at the base of Machu Picchu. A road goes up the mountain from Aguas Calientes and you can either take a bus or walk to reach here.

Entry ticket to Machu Picchu is $50 or Rs. 3,200. A roundtrip bus ticket from Aguas Calientes up to Machu Picchu site costs around $19 or Rs. 1,275. You can also take a guided two-day tour to discover Machu Pichhu and other sites around, which generally costs around $140 or Rs. 8,900.

You need to book your entry tickets in advance as there are no ticket selling booths on the site, and only a limited number of people are allowed every day. Also, for those who wish to hike the Inca trail, it takes around five days and requires camping every night. It costs around Rs. 60,000.

Accommodation in Machu Picchu is limited and expensive. Therefore, it is advisable to stay in Cusco and go for a day trip to Machu Picchu.

Marla was the marine biologist aboard the ship. She was very enthusiastic and had a passion for marine mammals that was infectious. We loved listening to her presentations and looked forward to hearing her voice on the PA saying that there was another whale sighting. Colin, the geologist aboard the ship, was very knowledgeable and able to make difficult subjects understandable to the passengers. Itinerary Review The trip far, far, far, far, far, far exceeded our expectations. I had one "far" in the sentence when we left South Georgia Island after seeing 250,000 King Penguins at St. Andrews Point and added the second when we saw blue whales on two different days. The third "far" was added when we saw hundreds of whales for 6 hours along the iceberg, A68a. I added another "far" when we kayaked for over an hour with humpbacks all around and another "far" when minke whales were all around the kayaks the next day. The last "far" was added the day we didn't paddle since a leopard seal was all around the kayaks and then an orca came close. We had so many incredible experiences that we could never experience all of them in the same trip again. The guides told us that the close encounters that we had didn't happen very often and that we were very lucky that they all happened on our trip. The only thing that we didn't like was portions of the Drake Passage when it was a tad rough, but that experience gives us something to talk about. Transportation Review We made our transportation arrangements through another travel agency. Traveler Advice Make sure that you take sea sickness meds. Take advantage of every opportunity to see wildlife."

"Our family of four, including two adult children, took the Bicycling: Day Trips to Paradise in Canada. This trip is entirely outsourced to the owners of the inn, there are no Road Scholar employees involved in the trip. Two of us have taken bicycle trips all over the world and the bicycling component of this trip was disorganized, haphazard and almost unsafe. We all filled out forms giving details regarding our bicycle fitting months before the trip. On the first day, the leader Stephen, went around the room and asked the same questions and said everyone would get fitted in the morning before we began the first ride. The morning brought a rack of bikes, all different types in various levels of readiness. There were road bikes, hybrid bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes. The rides were all on paved surfaces and the mountain bikes were heavy and the additional suspension added weight. The bike I received had rust on the chain and rear sprocket. When I asked about it, was told they were waiting for another van to show up with tools and equipment. Once it arrived, they gave me the lubricant to spray on the rust. My wife’s bike would not shift into the high gear on the front sprocket. Instead of adjusting the derailleur, they suggested spraying it with lubricant. Our one son is over six feet and needed a larger frame bike, even though he detailed it in the bike form months ago, there was no bike to fit him. One of the guides, then went home and brought a larger bike that was a full suspension mountain bike for him. The bike was very heavy, hard to control on the road and he felt unsafe. After two days, one of the guides convinced Stephen that they could adjust a hybrid bike to fit him. Clearly there was no work done to prepare the bikes for the trip. Many of the bikes needed adjusting and all needed lubricant to function easily. For every day, there was a tray of snacks placed out for us to take along the ride. None of the bikes had any baskets or attached bags, so if you didn’t bring a small day pack, there was no way to carry the snacks. For lunch on the rides, they brought exactly one sandwich for each rider. Since most of us get hungry while doing a day of exercise, it would have been helpful to have a few extras. On one day, they ran out of sandwiches and one of the leaders that were riding with us did not get lunch. Do NOT take this trip if you are expecting it to be a bicycling trip. We have used VBT and Discovery Bicycle Tours many times over the past 25 years and they are excellent bike tour companies. Lastly, after sharing these details with Road Scholar after the trip, their response was weak at best. After doing the full reviews and having to call them, their response was to give us $200 credit after spending $8000 on this trip. Not only was that insulting, they assumed that I would take another trip with their organization."

"My wife and I were on the Smithsonian Journeys Splendors of Australia and New Zealand between April 13 and May 2, 2018. Smithsonian is rated by this site as Luxury travel. However, Smithsonian "farms out" the logistics for their trip to Odysseys Unlimited. Odysseys booked within country air travel with the lowest cost air carriers. Flights were cancelled from Ayers Rock to Sydney and from Queenstown New Zealand to Rotorua. Another flight was significantly delayed so that we did not arrive at our Christchurch destination until 2:00 am, making for a really tired next day. Odysseys Unlimited compensated us $400 per person for missing a day in Sydney and paid for an excursion in Auckland for missing Rotorua. This was wholly inadequate, given that these were highlights of the trip. In addition, our tour guide was rude to several people on the trip. If Smithsonian Journeys is truly a luxury travel outfit, as we had believed, then they would not be farming out travel logistics to such a chinch company as Odysseys Unlimited. We will think twice about traveling with Smithsonian again, and so should others."

""I do not recommend Windstar Cruises, at least not onboard 'Windstar'. The only reason I could see to sail with them is for the evening event in Ephesus, which was unforgettable. Reaching them via telephone, pre-cruise took 45mins+. Questions regarding one of Windstar's Private Driver & Guide tours I inquired about were not responded to, nor was a phone call made to me to report back. Instead, after 11pm, on the 3rd night onboard, I received an unacceptable, vague reply. Fortunately, in the week prior to cruise, my travel agent did a wonderful job of contacting a local tour/guide operator, and I had a wonderful experience. I sailed on The Windstar in August 2022 for a Greek Isles cruise. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed in most aspects, except for the spa staff, who were wonderful, and cabin stewards, dining staff, and pool area bartenders/staff, who were excellent. While realizing it is a smaller 'sailing' ship, it needs a major upgrade/overhaul, or perhaps replacement with a new ship. Public areas, were substandard, pool had unsightly rusty colored sediment around the base of the waterline, whirlpool was neither heated, nor cooled, bed was uncomfortable, many times announcements by Captain could not be heard in cabin, nor were they repeated, in full, and slowly, a second time. Announcements meant for hallways or public areas only also were stated very quickly, and not repeated, slowly and with enunciation. I felt the destination briefings could have been interactive, with repeated times, and a fun, learning experience, with some ideas of what, and how, to experience the islands, other than the Windstar, or alternate booked excursions. Such as having information on car rentals, motorbike rentals, and perhaps a packet with information on all port calls, with maps, in the cabins, upon check-in, or a designated, sit-down office, wherein one could obtain information, comfortably, without interruptions. While I realize all lines are short-staffed the past couple of years, I felt it was grossly understaffed in the dissemination of information, reception, and destination briefing department, and that staff could have been available for a longer period of time for public Q & A's. I was actually distracted with number of times I heard 'Ladies & Gentlemen', during destination briefings, after almost every single sentence, that it interfered with information being given. While an understanding was reached after a couple days, and Reception improved, I was, one time, given an 'attitude' by reception staff, which won't easily be forgotten. My cabins portholes had exterior rust sediment build up which interfered with a nice view outside the portholes, and the smaller drain in the bathroom/head, outside the shower stall, had water coming up into/onto the toilet area and left the floorboards with that awful squeaky sound and also disallowed the use of fluffy area rug, instead needing 3 large towels to dry area after a shower. After this was reported to Manager, it was fixed, but by the night prior to end of cruise, it started happening again. I also feel the cruise rates, as compared to other lines, are overpriced. Perhaps Windstar's other, newer ships are different. One can only hope.""

"Just got back from an incredible adventure. Bhutan was more than I could have ever expected. There was an abundance of good travel karma throughout the trip. "I made a reservation last Thursday (11/16/2023) for a trip to Iceland from 12/02/2023-12/07/2023 and then I was told that I can’t have my refund back. When I called on last Thursday (11/16/2023) to place my reservation, the agent (Kathy) I talked to stressed about she "cannot" guarantee that I will be able to go on the trip. Before I provided the payment information, I specifically asked if I will be able to get the refund because the trip is coming up so soon. The agent ensured that I will be able to get a full refund back within 60 days if I decided to cancel the trip. I was also told that I am basically on a wait list and someone will contact me once I can go on the trip. No one contacted me about whether the agency was able to process my information at all, so I've been left in the dark about this trip since the beginning. I called the help line this morning (11/20/2023) around 9:00 Eastern Standard Time to cancel my reservation. I was informed by the agent that I will not be able to get my full refund back since it's too close to the trip date. Basically I was told that Kathy gave me the wrong information, so I will have to pay the cancellation fee. The only reason I provided my payment information is because Kathy specifically stated that I will be able to cancel the trip and receive a full refund. I've never been so frustrated with a traveling agency. I made sure to ask this agent regarding the refund policy twice before giving her my payment information, and she still couldn't provide me with the correct information. It's unbelievable that such a big traveling agency cannot uniformly train their employees with the correct set of information."

Hidden in Jordan’s southwest desert, the “Lost City” of Petra was our last of the New 7 Wonders of the World to see. We set off in the morning to explore the capital of Nabatean and were blown away by the sheer size of this place.

As we walked through the narrow gorge that opens up to the famous Treasury carved into sandstone hill, we felt like being part of the Indiana Jones movie. We have walked for hours to be able to see most of it in just a day.

Hint: Come early morning so you can see the Treasury lit up in the morning sun and if you can, stay for the sunset to see the royal tombs radiate the earthy colors.

Food tip: Don’t miss out on the real Jordanian treat – hummus. Yes, we know, you can find it everywhere in the Middle East, but we found the one in Jordan the best. Hummus is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed, chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and garlic. So delicious! The best we had was at Hashem’s Son in Aqaba, Jordan.

2. The Colosseum in Italy

The Colosseum deserves to be part of the New 7 Wonders of the World . Built in 80 AD, Colosseum is the ultimate sight to see in the eternal city of Rome. Standing in the middle of the Colosseum, it is easy to imagine why Romans were considered one of the greatest engineers of all time.

The Colosseum could hold up to 50,000 spectators who would enter through 50 entry gates. The best stadium to perform a gig, ever. And let’s face it, one of the most common new 7 wonders of the world to see.

3. Chichén Itzá in Mexico

Chichen Itza is a Mayan archeological site located in the Yucatan peninsula not far from Cancun and Merida. When it comes to Mayan ruins, this is by far the best example of their architecture. There are clusters of pyramids and temples, the most famous being El Castillo.

This is the main pyramid dedicated to Kukulkan, the Plumed Serpent. The Great Ballcourt is another highlight, measuring 166 metres with remarkable acoustic. You can try it out yourself, simply walk across and speak to the person across it.

Hint: While most people will advise you to come early for 8 am, you could also try to visit at the end of the day – the site closes at 5 pm. There are public buses as well as day tours from Cancun to get you here. The most popular two tours are:

4. The Great Wall in China

Can you see the Great Wall of China from space? Apparently not, but it still deserves to be one of the new 7 wonders of the world. The Great Wall of China is an ancient series of walls and fortifications located in northern China not far from Beijing.

It was built around 500 years ago so technically is not that old and according to historians it was built for protection, but not against Mongols as is often said. There are different parts of the wall that you can come and see, but be warned, there are a lot of tourists here.

Hint: Badaling is the most famous, most visited, and most restored section of the Great Wall. Nearly everyone comes here and don’t get us wrong, it’s amazing to see. But if you prefer something less busy we recommend checking out Mutianyu or Jinshanling. They see fewer tourists and offer gorgeous views of the wall.

5. Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil

The outstretched arms of the Christ the Redeemer dominated the top of Mount Corcovado. A trip to Rio De Janeiro wouldn’t be complete without seeing this iconic statue. Created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa it was completed in 1922.

To get to the top you must take a train, van, or taxi to the top and then ride a set of escalators to the top. And then pose with your outstretched arms for the photo to look just like one of the new 7 wonders of the world. 🙂

Hint: Check the weather before you. It has to be a clear sunny day, otherwise, you won’t be able to see the statue once you get to the top. There is no point spending half a day getting there if you can’t see it through the clouds.

6. Machu Picchu in Peru

Machu Picchu – The last lost city of the Incas as it’s often called. Explorer Hiram Bingham III discovered Machu Picchu in 1911 but he wasn’t looking for it. In fact, he was searching for the city of Vilcabamba. So Machu Picchu might not be the last city of the Incas and it wasn’t really lost.

It was just there, waiting to be discovered. It’s believed smallpox killed most of its population.

Today you can marvel at the remains of a city that it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar. Machu Picchu is built against a cliff with a drop of 400m, which overlooks the Urubamba River. The famous Inca Trail allows you to hike up to the city in a few days – but be warned the restricted Inca Trail Permits sell out now months in advance.

Hint: There are a few options to get to Machu Picchu – the train or trek. If you choose the trek to make sure you get to Cusco a few days before. This ensures you will acclimatize to the high altitude. A few travellers couldn’t finish the trek because of altitude sickness, therefore give yourself some time to acclimatise.

Food tip: Cusco is becoming a foodie city in recent years. We spent almost two weeks in Cusco and found Jacks Cafe the perfect place for lunch, coffee, or breakfast.

7. The Taj Mahal in India

Taj Mahal – a huge mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra between the 17th century is on every traveller’s bucket list. Taj was ordered to be built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife. It took around 20,000 workers and 16 years to build.

Today the architecture and the symmetry of this structure are adored by thousands of visitors from around the world. Most travellers will get to Agra from Delhi either by train or car.

Hint:  The best time to visit is from November to February, otherwise it can be unbearably hot or rainy. While most people visit early morning, we recommend visiting just before the sunset.

Great places, I had the chance of visiting Petra, Jordan and the trip was worth every penny and every minute. Petra definitely makes you feel like you’re in a movie, the sights are breathless. Apart from sight seeing I also went scuba diving via deepbluedivecenter.com at the red sea in Aqaba whcih made the trip even more thrilling. The first thing that pops your mind when you hear the word “China” it flashes the images of some famous personalities such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jack Ma, the whole Kung-fu movies come in a flash and yes, something strikes your mind more than them? 3. The Colosseum of Rome

The Roman Colosseum is one of the best creations of the Roman’s. This 21-century old monument is the largest amphitheatre in the world and an absolute treat to our eyes which will remain forever in our memories. It has a capacity to accommodate 50,000 people who used to spectate the gladiator combats. The Colosseum had underground complexes known as hypogeum which caged the gladiator warriors and animals. The Rose City of Petra is an ancient city in Jordan carved into red rocks of Petra and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located at top of the 700 metres tall Corcovado mountain in Tijuca Forest National Park, which is watching over the city of Rio de Janeiro. 7. Taj Mahal

And here, we have come to the final wonder among the 7 Wonders of the world. Taj Mahal is undoubtedly one of the best monuments in the world and the pride of India. Built by the Mughal king, Shah Jahan for his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, It is one of the historical places in India you should visit. Most importantly this structure stands as an epitome of love. It took about 22 years and 20,000 workers to construct Taj Mahal, which includes an immense garden with a reflecting pool. The mausoleum is full of white marble that displays semiprecious stones in a geometric & floral pattern of shapes. Taj Mahal always remains as a symbol of love and a universally admired masterpiece.
