2024 PGA Championship tee times, pairings: Complete schedule on TV, groups for Round 4 on Sunday at Valhalla

A long list of contenders will vie for the wanamaker trophy sunday at valhalla.

valhalla-waterfalls-rocks-pga-championship-g.png

The final round of the 2024 PGA Championship is finally here, and it is shaping up to be one to remember. Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele head into the final 18 holes at Valhalla Golf Club tied for the lead at 15 under, each in search of their own slice of history along with a sizable $3.3 million winner's share check from the PGA Championship's record $18.5 million purse .

The two will begin their march to the finish at 2:35 p.m. ET as players will move into twosomes and tee off from the 1st hole. This after playing split starts in trios across the first three rounds. Schauffele and Morikawa will follow a number of star-studded pairings, including Shane Lowry and Sahith Theegala at 2:25 p.m. as well as Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland at 2:15 p.m.

There is a chance that a player from an earlier tee time makes a move much like Lowry did Saturday with his record-tying 62. If one had to guess where a potential breakout candidate may lie, the pairings of Rory McIlroy and Tom Kim at 12:45 p.m. or Russell Henley and Jordan Spieth just 10 minutes later at 12:55 p.m. would make sense. Justin Thomas and Tony Finau find themselves on the outskirts of contention as well; they will start their final rounds at 1:35 p.m.

Check out Kyle Porter's breakdown through 54 holes of the golfers most likely to win the PGA Championship on Sunday.

US PGA Championship: Tee times, TV details, weather forecast, players to watch

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the major championship at oak hill country club in new york.

us pga tour tee times

The 2023 PGA Championship will begin at Oak Hill Country Club this Thursday. Photograph: Andy Lyons/Getty

When is it on?

The second major of the calendar year, the US PGA Championship, is being held at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, upstate New York, with the first of the competition’s 156 players teeing off around lunchtime on Thursday (that’s Irish time).

How can I follow the action?

If you can’t make it to a TV, you can follow all of the action from Oak Hill via The Irish Times liveblog, beginning at lunchtime on Thursday at irishtimes.com/sport .

On the box, Sky Sports will bring you live coverage from Thursday, on both the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Golf channels. The championship runs until Sunday, beginning at 1pm Irish time. There’s also a dedicated PGA Championship app available for download on your preferred app store.

What is the US PGA Championship winner’s prize?

The winner of the competition at Oak Hill will pocket a cool $3 million (€2.76 million). They’ll also be invited to all subsequent PGA Championships into the future.

What are the Irish prospects?

There will be a strong Irish presence on the field come Thursday: Pádraig Harrington, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy and Séamus Power will make up the Irish representation at Oak Hill come Thursday.

[  Has the golden age of Irish golf come and gone?  ]

McIlroy, a two-time winner of the PGA Championship, is again the pick of the Irish prospects, and is tipped by the bookies to be in contention come next Sunday. The world number three’s form coming into the competition, however, leaves much to be desired: a deflating performance at the Master saw him miss the cut, and followed that up with a tied-47th place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month.

[  Rory McIlroy says he needed a mental break after not having the ‘right mindset’ at the Masters  ]

Power, meanwhile, finished the latter competition in 18th, and 19th a week later at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Lowry, who finished the PGA Championship event in tied fourth in 2021, is yet to find his best form this season: a respectable tied-16th at the Masters and a top 10 place at the The Honda Classic in February were the highlights.

Who are the favourites?

Jon Rahm, world number one and fresh from securing a coveted green jacket at the Masters in April , comes into the PGA Championship as favourite. Scottie Scheffler should also contend: the American has won twice on the PGA Tour this year – including The Players Championship in March – and is yet to miss a cut yet.

Last year’s winner, Justin Thomas, is a 20-1 shot to claim a third PGA Championship title.

[  Rory McIlroy: ‘I was never so sure that I was going to have a great week at Augusta’  ]

What is the weather forecast looking like?

Conditions are looking far from ideal, according to long term forecasts. While Rochester looks like it will dodge the threat of rainfall for the opening two days of the competition, the weekend is looking a little more unsettled.

Rory McIlroy is paired with reigning PGA champion Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa, with five PGA Championships in the grouping, playing at 1.11pm on Thursday. Shane Lowry is also in a featured group alongside Jordan Spieth and Viktor Hovland will play in the next grouping at 1.22pm.

PGA Championship 2024 tee times: R1 and R2 in full

US PGA Championship tee times: Click here to see the full list of tee times for the first two rounds of the second men's major of the year at Valhalla.

us pga tour tee times

The opening round of the 2024 PGA Championship is almost upon us.

For the first time in a decade, the second men's major of the year returns to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

The last time the PGA Championship was played here Rory McIlroy claimed his fourth major title.

McIlroy arrives at Valhalla in superb form having claimed his 26th PGA Tour victory last week at the Wells Fargo Championship .

The Northern Irishman said he believed the 'stars are aligning' for him to break his 10-year major drought in the immediate aftermath of his fourth victory at Quail Hollow Club.

  • Which LIV Golf players are in the field at PGA Championship?

But McIlroy is not the only storyline golf fans will be following at the PGA Championship.

World number one Scottie Scheffler has been the dominant force in men's professional golf in 2024 and is the overwhelming favourite to clinch his third major win.

Scheffler's appearance here was in doubt as he maintained he would not miss the birth of his first child but Sports Illustrated have confirmed his baby has been born .

Scheffler finished runner-up at last year's PGA Championship and, should he win, there will be much talk of whether he can complete the 'Scheffler Slam'.

Elsewhere, Brooks Koepka will attempt to win the major back-to-back again.

Koepka won the 2018 PGA Championship and won it again a year later at Bethpage Black.

The American, 34, is in good form at present having recently won his fourth LIV event in Singapore .

Victory at the 2024 PGA Championship would see him become the first four-time winner of the major since Tiger Woods .

It would mean he would move alongside Phil Mickelson and Sir Nick Faldo 's tally of six major titles.

BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The year's third major comes with plenty of drama. Tiger Woods , who limped his way through the Masters and most of the PGA Championship before withdrawing, is sitting this one out to let his body recover. Phil Mickelson , who has not played in the United States in more than four months but returned to golf in the initial, controversial LIV Golf series event, is in the field at the one major he has never won. Plus, the event arrives with golf at a crossroads as a rival league threatens the system that has been in place for decades.

Cameron Young shoots 59 at Travelers Championship; 12th golfer in PGA Tour history to card sub-60 round

CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT - JUNE 22: Cameron Young of the United States plays his shot from the 17th tee during the third round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands on June 22, 2024 in Cromwell, Connecticut. (Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images)

Cameron Young shot a 59 at the Travelers Championship on Saturday for the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour in four years, becoming just the 12th player on the PGA Tour to ever achieve the feat. At the signature event on the par 70 TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, Young’s 11-under par round was enough to take the solo lead before the leaders tee off.

Young, 27, opened the third round going birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie to immediately start 5 under through four holes. The eagle came on a par 4 in which he holed out a 142-yard shot. He then birdied 8 and 9 to round out the front nine in just 28 shots and birdied 13 to put himself at 8 under.

On the drivable par-4 15th hole, Young hit an epic iron shot that rolled up to the green and landed four feet from the pin to set up a short eagle putt. Another birdie on 17 sealed the sub-60, and Young parred 18 to put himself in the record books.

59 FOR CAMERON YOUNG! He cards the 13th sub-60 round in PGA TOUR history @TravelersChamp 👏 pic.twitter.com/dDoz5CxEHA — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) June 22, 2024

It’s the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour since Scottie Scheffler’s 59 at the Northern Trust Open at TPC Boston in 2020 and just the 13th total round under 60. The lowest ever is a 58 by Jim Furyk played on the same course at TPC River Highlands in 2016. Furyk also shot a 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship. He did not win either event.

It’s been a low-scoring week overall in Connecticut. Tom Kim opened with a 62, and Robert MacIntyre shot another 62 on Friday while Collin Morikawa shot 63 on the heels of a 28 on the front nine. Five golfers were at least 10 shots under par through two rounds.

Golf has seen a run of such scores lately across tours. Cristobal del Solar shot a 57 on the Korn Ferry Tour this season for the lowest-ever round on a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. U.S. Open champ Bryson DeChambeau shot a 58 last summer to win LIV Greenbrier, and fellow LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann shot a 59 to win in Mexico.

For Young, it’s a promising step in an up-and-down year. Young broke out two years ago when he finished T3 at the PGA Championship and solo second at the Open Championship all at 25, followed by a T7 at the 2023 Masters months later. He seemed poised to become one of golf’s next big stars, and he’s had a good run overall ranking No. 23 in OWGR, but Young hasn’t quite broken through as expected.

Young has yet to earn his first PGA Tour win, and despite a great start in 2024 including a T9 at the Masters in April, Young hasn’t placed better than 34th in the six tournaments since.

2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic Thursday tee times: Round 1 pairings

Rickie Fowler is looking to repeat as champion at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Getty Images

The 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic gets underway Thursday with the opening round at Detroit Golf Club. You can find full first-round tee times at the bottom of this post.

Featured tee time for Round 1

Rickie Fowler left last year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic a winner, and this year he’ll look to do the same. Despite entering the week in poor form, the 35-year-old will look to become the first repeat champion in the short history of the event. Fowler will play alongside Will Zalatoris and Cam Davis in Rounds 1 as the grouping goes off No. 1 at 1:05 p.m.

If Fowler wants to earn his seventh PGA Tour title, though, he’ll have to best some of the brightest young stars in the game. Tom Kim, fresh off a runner-up finish in Connecticut, enters the week atop the odds sheet, while his playing partner, Cameron Young, sits just behind. The pair will go off No. 10 at 7:40 a.m. in Round 1 as they play alongside Robert MacIntyre.

You can watch Thursday’s first round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic on ESPN+ with exclusive early action and featured group coverage all day, and on Golf Channel starting at 3 p.m. ET. Peacock will offer a simulcast of Golf Channel’s coverage.
