Every item in our inventory has been inspected, very strictly graded, and bagged for its protection.

Shrink Wrapped. Still in the original factory shrink wrap, with condition visible through shrink noted. For example, "SW (NM)" means shrink wrapped in near-mint condition.

Perfect. Brand new.

Near Mint. Like new with only the slightest wear, many times indistinguishable from a Mint item. Close to perfect, very collectible. Board & war games in this condition will show very little to no wear and are considered to be punched unless the condition note says unpunched.

Excellent. Lightly used, but almost like new. May show very small spine creases or slight corner wear. Absolutely no tears and no marks, a collectible condition.

Very Good. Used. May have medium-sized creases, corner dings, minor tears or scuff marks, small stains, etc. Complete and very useable.

For the purposes of this review, I’m covering the travel version. It happens to be the one I have, but it’s basically the same game as its big box sibling. The only difference is the travel game comes in a small bag, and the wooden tiles are smaller. That said, they’re perfectly usable and legible. If anything, I prefer the smaller version for ease of storage and portability.

The point of the game is to score the most points. This is done by placing one or more of your six tiles onto the playing area, building off of what’s already on the board. The rules for playing your pieces are fairly straightforward. You can build a line that features tiles of all one colour or a line featuring tiles of all one shape. That means you can build a row of five blue tiles, as long as every shape in that row is unique. You will score a point for each line you create or add onto with your tiles.

Without the limitations that come with the board or letters, this really distills the fun of tile placement in that Scrabble style. You’re more focused on trying to place your tiles in ways that score you the most points rather than worrying about spelling or where the triple word score placement is. It’s most awesome when you’re able to score multiple Qwirkles in one turn by squeezing in your tiles in just the right spot. Since there are only six colours and six shapes to match, creating those multi-scoring rows is much easier than in the classic word game.

Qwirkle takes the best parts of Scrabble and presents them in a package that is even more accessible than the classic word game. I greatly enjoy this one and am glad to have it in my collection. Even if it can take a bit long for my next turn, it gives me an opportunity to plot out my next great move. If you’re in need of a solid family game, or just love the tile placement mechanics of Scrabble , this is a game you should play.

Qwirkle is a tile matching game, you win by getting points for laying down tiles of matching shape or colour! It’s so easy to learn the rules, all the family can play. For such a simple game this has a deep level of strategic play, similar to other tile laying games like dominos or Scrabble, as you make the most of your tiles, while denying your opponent’s opportunities to score. The different shape and colour combinations are great for developing children’s spacial recognition, planning, and problem solving skills. Smaller than the standard version this has all the same great gameplay, in a handy travel bag. We also have the full sized version available .

Travel pouch includes 108 wooden tiles and instructions. Tiles measure 2cm by 2cm.

• Qwirkle is the game where you mix,match, score and win! • Simply create rows and columns by matching tiles with the same symbol or colour - match both for maximum points! • Create a line of all six and you score a Qwirkle! • It takes both logic and strategy to score big! • Travel size is perfect to take everywhere! The game Quirkle is a simple game of matching colours and shapes: a must-have for your next family game night. Players score points by building rows and columns of brightly coloured tiles that are either all the same colour or all the same shape, without creating duplicates; create a line of all six in a row, and you score a Qwirkle.

Orders are usually dispatched the same day when placed before 1:00pm Mon-Fri. Orders after this threshold will be dispatched the next working day. Orders placed on Friday (after 1:00pm) or anytime Saturday and Sunday will be dispatched on Monday. Please note: Orders placed just before or during any UK Public Holidays may experience longer shipping times.

Official Game Rules

Qwirkle rules.

Setup  

There are 6 different colors and 6 different shapes, so Qwirkle has 36 different tiles. There are 3 copies of each tile for a total of 108 tiles.

Draw 6 tiles into your hand from the bag. If it’s your first time playing, toss all of the tiles into the drawstring bag and shake it up to give them a good mix. All players pull 6 tiles out of the bag for your starting hand, but keep them hidden from other players so they can’t see what you have. Every tile will have a colored shape on it.

Deciding who goes first:

Determine the first player. Look at your hand of tiles and count how many tiles share one characteristic, either a single color or a single shape. Tell the other players how many tiles are in your largest group, and whoever says the biggest number takes the first turn.  Example: If your hand has a red square, red circle, blue circle, green circle, orange diamond, and purple star, your largest group would be the 3 circles.  If there’s a tie for who has the largest group, then whoever’s older goes first.

How to Play  

Play 1 or more tiles to start the grid. If you’re the first player, you get to start building the play area, which is also called the grid. You can choose to play 1 tile, or any number of tiles of a single color or a single shape.

Two tiles that touch each other form a line and need to be either the same shape or the same color.

Try to play 2 or more tiles when you’re starting the game since you’ll earn more points.

Add 1 or more tiles to the grid when it’s your turn. You can play 1 tile, or multiple tiles that either share the same color or the same shape. The catch is, the tile you play has to connect to another tile that’s already been played. There are a few restrictions on where you can place the tiles as well. The placement restrictions are:

A line of the same color can only have one tile in each shape. Example: You can only have one yellow square in a line.

A line of the same shape can only have one tile of each color. Example: You can only have one blue star in a line of stars.

When you add the tiles to the grid, they all have to go into the same line. However, you can place your tiles on either end of the line.

As you build out the grid, you’ll restrict where other players can put their tiles and some spots might get blocked off.

Draw tiles from the bag until you have six in your hand. If you played multiple tiles on your turn, take as many tiles from the bag as you played.

Exchange tiles in your hand instead of playing if you want new ones. If you don’t like the tiles in your hand or if you aren’t able to play anything from your hand, set any number of tiles from your hand aside. Draw that many new tiles from the bag and put them in your hand so you have 6 tiles. Then, put the tiles you set aside back in the bag. Note:  You’ll have to wait until your next turn to play any tiles you just exchanged.

Play until the draw bag is empty and a player places all their tiles. Continue taking turns even after the bag is empty (you will no longer be able to draw new tiles at the end of your turn). When a player puts down their last tile, the game ends. Scoring You score 1 point for each tile in the same line as the one you played. When you put your tile in the grid, count all of the tiles in the same line including the one you just placed. If the tile you played connected to more than 1 line, be sure to count the tiles in them as well. ​

Earn 6 points when you finish a line of 6 tiles. The lines have to be either 6 tiles with the same shape and different colors, or 6 tiles of the same color but different shapes. If you place the last tile in a line, score 1 point for each tile like you normally would, but give yourself an extra 6 points for completing a Qwirkle! Note:  You can never make a line that’s longer than 6 tiles.

The person the plays their last tile and ends the game is awarded +6 bonus points! ​
