Since I started using this app, I have travelled 1,482,337 miles. I LOVE this app. I travel a lot for work (and holidays) and being able to email my booking confirmations, private and work and have them all in one place is fantastic. It changed my travel routine. Rather then show up with a folder of different printed confirmations, it’s all laid out in one place. My wife and I share our itineraries and it’s great for family trips where we book different parts. Its like I have a brilliant assistant with programming knowledge. Just bring a battery pack for your phone after a long flight :-) I try hundreds of apps each year but after many years using this app it is still the most useful thing on my phone after the calendar and mail app. Seriously, I have emailed booking confirmations as PDF’s, word docs, email etc from some really funky airlines and it’s rarely missed a beat. My only suggestion to the developers to improve on perfection might be to tie in with one of the flight map apps so I can see on the plane which country I am flying over. Those guys have nothing like the capability you do, so a tie in could be cool. Thanks again for all the travel hassle you guys saved!

Freakishly frustrating and sometimes great.

User interface is inadequate from iPad and iPhone. No ability to copy(duplicate) an event. No drag and drop. No ability to have overlapping vacation schedules and keep the entries separated between two users. Unable to add some details for some events, for example, an end time not available for some activities. Notes not available to add in some events. Unclear interface caused me to accidentally merge two different vacations into one “trip”, losing duplicate records which had extensive comments added. Under a cruise ship port (e.g. The port for Athens) overwrites all port notes for other ports on the same cruise. Look, if you are going to another port, why would you want to a) loose your comments regarding transportation in Venice and b) what use would Athens transportation have on the day you are in Venice. I have loved this software. I’ve used it for a half dozen trips or more. The software successfully imports most airline tickets, train tickets, and hotel reservations, etc. via a simple forwarded email. This part is very elegant in creating a calendar of a trip. It is really useful. Just travel alone or have the exact same itinerary as anyone you travel with. With this combined trip, I want to pull out my hair.

Favorite App

I travel often both for business and with my big family. This has been a game changer. Not to have to print out anything and have everything in order with added details on telephone numbers, weather, directions links. besides the ease of just forwarding play tickets, car rentals, hotel and flights, it takes a cruise itinerary and put some in the correct day saying where you’re going and when you get off to the ports and when you have to be back on the ship etc. So excellent. A side benefit I found now that I’ve been using it for 10 years is I have a whole travel journal right here in the app. Can look up previous hotels, miscellaneous companies used for transportation and whatever. Request for the developers: when I have a listing of flights etc. (particularly for more than one person), the apps at-a-glance screen does not have the name listed. So you have to go into that plan and scroll down and Click under passengers and in that page it’ll show you who the reservation is for. It would be much more convenient to have the name on the first or second line for a quick reference.

Over the past year, generative artificial intelligence (AI) has quickly established its presence in the leisure travel industry . The technology is revolutionizing how consumers get their best ideas for vacations and then plan those trips, while democratizing access to comprehensive travel advice and bargains.

As capabilities expand, more consumers are discovering the tools and using them for more than just finding a convenient flight or comfortable hotel. The generative AI enthusiasts are increasingly relying on the technology to help them plan entire itineraries. This can include anything from swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean to figuring out which restaurants they need to reserve for their trip to Copenhagen.

Growing enthusiasm for generative AI in travel planning

Findings from our surveys of North American leisure travelers highlight the growing fervor for using generative AI applications to make trip planning easier: 41% of the nearly 2,100 consumers from the United States and Canada told our March 2024 survey that they had recently used generative AI tools for travel inspiration or itinerary planning. That is up from 34% of respondents in our August 2023 survey.

Looking ahead, 58% of respondents and 82% of recent generative AI users said they are likely or very likely to use the technology for inspiration or itinerary planning again in the future. This indicates high levels of consumer satisfaction with generative AI tools, and the market should be confident and optimistic about prospects for growth going forward.

Five takeaways from our analysis and leisure traveler survey results 

• Leisure travelers are increasingly using generative AI tools for trip inspiration and itinerary planning.
• The most enthusiastic adopters tend to be younger, elite loyalty members, and people who like to take cruises . 
• Generative AI has the capabilities to address existing trip inspiration and travel planning pain points for consumers, and users are recognizing that.
• When choosing a generative AI tool, consumers have more confidence in those being offered by brands they frequently use or with which they have a loyalty program membership. The connection between brand loyalty and generative AI is likely to drive more direct bookings and ancillary revenue for brands that develop robust generative AI tools.
• Generative AI makes it more likely that consumers will book a complete trip based on recommendations from the tool, increasing the average trip value for brands through sales of ancillary services and products and packaged travel offerings. That prospect should grow dramatically once travelers can book directly through generative AI tools.

Opportunities and risks for travel companies adopting generative AI

From the perspective of travel companies, there is significant opportunity and white space in the market to capitalize on growing consumer willingness to use generative AI. Those that act quickly to develop booking and personalization capabilities that meet the expectations of their loyal customers will benefit at the expense of those in the sector that drag their feet.

Our findings indicate that generative AI can be a mechanism for travel companies to connect with customers earlier in the planning process and use that engagement to show them what else they might consider. This should strengthen brand loyalty, improve conversions, and drive more direct bookings once that capability is available.  

But there are also risks from not being proactive. From an economic standpoint, our analysis revealed that more than $2 billion of commissions to online travel agencies could be at play in a scenario where suppliers largely continue to forgo investment in generative AI.

And the clock is ticking, considering the speed at which new technologies are adopted today. In other words, the time to embrace the technology is now, and the companies that do that effectively will be well-positioned to dominate leisure travel going forward.

To use this easy and convenient Google Maps feature , you'll first want to create a Saved List for the country you want to visit. You'll want to ensure that you're logged into your Google account, so that you can access the list from any device you own that shares the same account. Once you've opened the app, click where it says "Saved" at the very bottom of the screen. It should be the middle option between "Go" and "Contribute." Once you click, a list will pop up of options like "Favorites" and "Want To Go." Click the button that says "New List" at the top of the screen. Title your list and give it a description. You can choose to create a list for the entire country or create individual lists for each city you plan on visiting. Whenever you sit down to work on planning your vacation, you can easily add destinations.

Imagine you're planning a trip to Paris, and the Louvre Museum is at the top of your list. Type "Louvre" into your Google Map search. When it pops up, click "Save" and then select the list you've created for Paris. You can add notes about why you wanted to visit, links, and prices. Once you arrive in Paris, you can pull up your list and see every single spot you've saved on the map. It's super helpful and saves tons of time when you're out sightseeing.

Create The Ultimate Travel Bucket-List As You Go

Google AI finds travel deals, itinerary for vacation destinations

The internet generation connects with price alerts for flights and hotels.

Florida residents who are getting set to plan a trip for the perfect summer destination may be able to get a bargain price with the help of AI and Google.

The search engine powerhouse is offering AI-driven trip planning with the destination of your choice and the best price to boot.

“We have what we call a price alert on Google Flights,” Google technology expert Luma Hamade said. “I actually got a massive discount for my trip to Europe using the price alert.”

The trip technology is free, creating itineraries for destinations from Orlando to Italy, which just happens to be a hotspot for Florida travelers this year.

Hamade told News 6 that travelers who want to score a bargain price should go to Google Flights “a few weeks before you intend to book” and set the price alert filter on so you know what day that flight will be the cheapest.

“When it comes to organization, you should get a confirmation email once you book right to your Gmail,” Hamade told News 6. “You can actually have Gemini, which is our AI chatbot, pull that confirmation email and create an entire itinerary based on where you are going.”

Hamade says the AI magic happens on your phone or laptop “in real-time.” In fact, she said she saved $500 on her flight, thanks to the price alert.

The “Google Maps community” provides real-time experiences so the AI system can focus on the best local spots for your vacation destination.

“When you’re shopping for what you want to wear on that trip, we have what we call a personalized style recommender,” she said. “Hit your Google search page, scroll down and you can choose your wardrobe.”

You can plan your itinerary by going to Gemini.Google.com to pull all the information from your Gmail account and it will condense an itinerary for you and your family.

To start planning your trip with Google Maps, visit https://www.google.com/mymaps . On your My Maps dashboard, click the “Create a New Map” button.

Once you’ve given your map a name, you can start adding your locations.

If you plan to do a lot of traveling, Google One offers a premium travel assistant for $15 to $20 a month.
