যখন ই কোনও  এক মুহূর্তে কোনও নির্দিষ্ট স্পটে ঘুরে দেখার বিষয়ে  মনে একটি ভাবনা জাগ্রত হয়,  তৎক্ষণাৎ আমার পরিকল্পনা শুরু হয়ে যায়ে এবং আমি প্রতি পদে  আসল ভ্রমণের মতোই পরিকল্পনা পর্যায়টিও সমানভাবে উপভোগ করি। এটি একটি দুর্দান্ত অনুভূতি এবং আমি নিশ্চিত যে আপনারা অনেকেই আমার এই ভাবনায়ে অনুরণিত হবেন।

যখন আমরা কোনও স্থান ঘুরে দেখি বা কোনও ট্যুর পরিকল্পনা করি তখন আমরা এটিকে এমনভাবে পরিকল্পনা করতে চাই যাতে আমরা স্থানীয় রীতিনীতি, সংস্কৃতি, রান্না এবং সর্বোপরি প্রকৃতির সর্বোচ্চ স্তরের অনুভূতি পাই।

Englandey Bangamahila  is the first travel writing by a Bengali woman in England, published in 1885.  A Bengali Lady in England  is the annotated translation with a critical introduction by Prof. Nabanita Sengupta. This book is a documentation of the 19 th  century England—its strength and prejudices, as seen through the eyes of a twenty-year-old Krishnabhabini Das, a housewife belonging to an orthodox Hindu family. Krishnabhabini did not believe in social taboos and went against quite a number of them like travelling abroad, educating herself, not adhering to the 19 th  century views of motherhood. Her book too was iconoclast in a number of ways because it was not normal for a woman belonging to a subject race to dare criticise the British in such bold words. The book is an exceptional study of the Indo-English relationship, postcolonial studies, 19th century nationalism and gender studies.

Dr.NabanitaSengupta is presently working as assistant professor of English at Sarsuna College, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Her areas of interest are 19th century travel writings, gender studies, translation studies and disability studies. Some of her translated short stories have been published in anthologies by Sahitya Akademi and others. She has also participated in various translation projects and workshops. She has presented papers in a number of national and international seminars in India and abroad. Currently she is co-editing an anthology of critical essays on women’s displacement in South Asia. Her creative writings have also been published at various places like Muse India, Coldnoon, Café Dissensus, NewsMinute.in, etc.
