Wszystko w jak najlepszym porządku. Lot, transfer, hotel – wszystko zgodnie z ofertą. Cena sporo niższa niż u konkurencji za dokładnie ten sam hotel. Byliśmy z rodziną na Costa del Sol w Hiszpanii. Dla nas brak rezydenta nie był problemem, zwłaszcza, że od początku było to wiadome, że na miejscu go nie ma. Na miejscu nie ma rezydenta, do p.Doroty jest ciężko się dodzwonić. Dzień przed wylotem nie było informacji na recepcji o transferze. Cały czas dzwoniliśmy aby uzyskać jakieś informacje. Podano zły adres-pod innym hotelem, na 4h przed lotem podano inny adres ale i tak nikt nikt nie przyjechał. Byliśmy z 6 letnim dzieckiem. Gosia

Wszystko ładnie opisane ale w rzeczywistości było trochę inaczej.Słaby opis hotelu. Brak kawiarni. Przy obiadokolacji brak ciepłych napojów tylko sama woda. Długi czas na transfer z lotniska do hotelu. Praktycznie brak zainteresowania na lotnisku ze strony biura podróży. Od razu podbieg Burgar i wyprowadził na zewnątrz bez konsultacji naszej z Panią z biura, która była obecna na lotnisku. Rezydentka przy dużym problemie nie pomogła a nawet nie zadzwoniła że nie może pomóc a miała to zrobić. Rafał

Poland is one of the most affordable, attractive and accessible destinations to visit in Europe, and there are plenty of things to do here. Additionally, there are many types of tourism to explore, such as medical tourism and dark tourism in Poland. This post will tell you everything you need to know before your trip to this wonderful country in Eastern Europe.

Over the past few years, tourism in Poland has risen drastically. Based on research by Statista , in 2019, there were 35.7 million visitors alone, compared to 2006 when there were 17.5 million. This is a massive increase of 18 million in a very short time, and for plenty of good reasons, that will be explored further in this post.

First, it’s important to know a little bit about the history of tourism in Poland: From 1945 to 1989, Poland was under a communist government, which meant that tourism was limited to Comecon (Council for Mutual Economic Assistance)- these countries were under Soviet rule. Due to this, tourism in Poland for inbound tourists was almost non-existent, however, domestic tourism was popular as it was government-founded. Domestic tourism during this time often consisted of a campground with bungalows sometimes, and everything was managed by the state.

After the collapse of communism, Poland started becoming a more attractive destination for tourists, especially after joining the EU in 2004 . This has accelerated the development of tourism in Poland due to being able to trade between other countries more accessible for everyone inside and outside of Poland!

The capital of Poland is Warsaw, which has over 1.7 million people living there in 2022 and is also the most visited city in the whole of Poland. It’s a very popular city to live and visit for many reasons such as how accessible it is, the historical aspect of the city and having plenty of things to do there – for instance, there are more than 20 top places to visit in Warsaw to suit every type of traveller. There are two main airports in Warsaw – Warsaw Chopin Airport and Warsaw Modlin Airport. These airports have international and domestic flights from various airlines, including low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, making tourism in Poland accessible for most people – even if they are on a budget!

Some other famous cities in Poland are:

• Gdansk – most known for its beautiful architecture.
• Krakow – recognised for its medieval history and Jewish quarter.
• Katowice – known for its industrial history and many tourists visit it due to its proximity to Auschwitz.
• Lublin – famous for its high standards of living and for being selected for 2023’s European Youth Capital .

Is it safe to travel in Poland? The answer is very simply – YES! Poland was listed as number 24 out of 163 on the Global Peace Index 2021 . This means that Poland has low terrorism, is politically stable and has a low level of violent crime, among other ratings.

88.19% of people in Poland feel safe walking alone – meaning Poland ranks 22nd out of 163 countries on Nation Master . This is a very high number, especially when compared to the UK, which ranked 40th and the US who ranked 57th. This makes Poland a great place to visit for all types of tourists – especially if you’re travelling solo!

However, as a tourist, it is always advisable to be aware of pickpockets and scams, which often happen in particularly touristy areas. In Poland, some common scams are:

• The Flower Gift Scam . This is when a young child will approach you and hand you a flower, they will then proceed to tell you a fake story in order for you to give them money. It’s almost always a lie that you should try and avoid as much as possible.
• Street Girl Scam . Often a scam targeted at men, this is when a very attractive woman will approach a man for advice on which bar to visit and then try and make the man accompany them to the bar. However, these women often work for the bar, the prices will be very high, and that’s how they earn money from this scam.
• The Helpful Person Scam . A rare scam but a good one to be aware of is when a person will ask you for any spare change to buy a train/bus ticket. As you get your wallet out, they will grab it and run! Other forms of this scam are when someone is being overly helpful, such as showing you your seat on the train and then demanding payment from you for this ‘service’.

Overall, tourism in Poland is very safe as long as common sense is applied and followed. As Poland is considered such a safe country, this is one of the factors that has led to a rise in tourism in Poland. If that hasn’t convinced you to visit just yet, then maybe the next section will…

Is Poland cheap to travel in? Yes, it is! Poland is one of the cheapest countries in Europe to travel in. It’s important to know that the currency is złoty, often abbreviated to Zl, and the Euro is not accepted there.

The best time to travel to Poland is really up to personal preferences as Poland has lots to offer throughout the seasons! In the winter months (December to March) Poland often looks magical snow all over, even in the cities- Warsaw in winter can be lovely! This means that it can be too cold and unsuitable for some people, but perfect for tourists who love winter activities such as skiing, ice skating and snowboarding.

Summers in Poland can be very warm, and there are often more tourists soaking up the sun – there’s a very big contrast between the winter and summer months that it’s almost hard to believe!

The low season is from October to April, as this is when it’s the coldest throughout Poland. The lowest average temperature during these months is about -4°C, and the maximum is about 13°C. During low season, most major attractions are still open and may also be cheaper depending on the place! It is free to visit and there are guided tours available too. There are a limited amount of tickets sold per day so I strongly recommend booking in advance- you can do that here .
• Oskar Schindler’s Factory Tour – Learn about the man and the factory that saved hundreds of Jewish people’s lives. This tour is ideal for tourists who are interested in dark history and especially if you are familiar with the award-winning Speilberg film, Schindlers List. Tours are around 1.5 hours long and are in very small groups so you can learn about it more personally.
• Majdanek Concentration Camp – Majdanek is a lesser-known concentration camp, located in Lublin. This is a must-see for anyone wanting to learn more about dark tourism in Poland. As it is a lesser-known camp, that means there are often not very many tourists which could be suitable for tourists who want to educate themselves more but in a less busy environment.

Wchodzimy do hotelu Atrium, a tam głucho -hotel opustoszał KILKA LAT temu... Telefon do rezydentki... nie wie, co się dzieje. Dzwoni do swojego szefa i słyszę jego odpowiedź (jest już 23.00!)- TT nie ma z tą sprawą nic wspólnego, gdyż my ZAKUPILISMY W TOP TOURISTIK JEDYNIE TRANSFER z lotniska, nie pobyt! Właściwy hotel znaleźliśmy SAMI ok 1.30!!!

Bułgaria 25.06-2.07. transfer i hotel na 5. Niestety cena wysoka, inni płacili znaczniej taniej, dodatkowo ja musiałam dokupić bagaż bo w cenie był tylko podręczny. Nie było żadnego kontaktu z rezydentem, dostałam na lotnisku kartkę, gdzie nie było daty spotkania. Inni mówili, że dostali SMS ja nie dostałam nic. Nie zostaliśmy poinformowani o żadnych dodatkowych wycieczkach, te hotelowe były mało interesujące.

Zdecydowaliśmy się na ofertę od TT,bo wychodziły prawie 4 dni wycieczki na miejscu (chcieliśmy pozwiedzać,ale też poleniuchować).Wylot na Majorkę z Gdańska przez Monachium,powrót z Majorki z taką samą przesiadką. 4 dni przed wylotem dostaliśmy info,że zmieniono nam lot i będziemy lecieć przez Kopenhagę gdzie straciliśmy cały 1 dzień i kolejny dzień na powrocie (czekaliśmy 9h)-czyli 2 dni w plecy.Trzeba było się upomnieć o nową umowę i bilety lotnicze.

Nie zwykłem robić problemów, kiedy ktoś pomimo pomyłki lub zaniechania poczuwa się do odpowiedzialności. Biuro Top touristik wprowadziło nas w błąd i oszukało. Zamówiliśmy w cztery osobe 2 pokoje typu Standard suit, a po przylocie czekał nas jeden family suite. Hotel przydzielił nam drugi pokój, ale musieliśmy dopłacić ponad 1300e, które biuro nie chce oddać. Mamy na wszystko podkładki od hotelu. Sprawa zostanie zgłoszona do UOKIK i do Rzecznika Praw Konsumenta. Omijać szerokim łukiem.

Przez portal wakacje. pl. Oferta zgodna z opisem. Dokumenty dotyczące wyjazdu dotarły w terminie i komplecie. Kontakt z rezydentem w porządku. Dotyczy rezydenta hotelu Zefir w Słonecznym Brzegu.

Jestem zawiedziona tym biurem. Jestem od bardzo dawna na wakacjach, chciałam odpocząć z przyjaciółmi. Dobrze się bawić i mieć oddzielne pokoje. Dojechałam do hotelu i spotkałam się z niemiła sytuacja. Za miast dwóch oddzielnych pokoi mamy jeden pokój w 4 osoby. Po rozmowie z młoda nie miła panią dowiedziałam się, że niestety ale nic z tym nie zrobią i zwalają winę na biuro gdzie podpisywana była umowa. NIE POLECAM ! Jeśli już ktoś wykupił wycieczkę, razem sprawdzić ile macie pokoi :).

Wg opinii jakie były wystawie przez innych turystów, trochę się obawialiśmy, ale organizacja wyjazdu w 05/2023 do Hiszpanii na Costa Brava była bez zarzutu. Wszystkie dokumenty i informacje były bez zarzutu i na czas. Transfer z lotniska trwał może do ok. 40min. busikiem (przewóz razem z nami 2 rodzin), a na lotnisko ok.1:30-był duży bus na więcej osób. 15 Best Things to Do in Katowice (Poland)

As a mining city, Katowice’s sudden growth in the 19th century was fuelled by its rich coal seams. The plush tenement houses of the Śródmieście district were all funded by this new wealth. But there are also innovative worker settlements like Nikiszowiec and Giszowiec, where miners and their families had a high quality of life, and which are still complete today. Meanwhile one former colliery has been remodelled as the Silesian Museum, with galleries built into old mining tunnels.

The political history of Katowice and the Upper Silesia region is incredibly complex, and entails uprisings, a plebiscite and an autonomous state within Poland. Luckily there are museums and monuments to fill in the gaps, while Katowice is blessed with a raft of architectural wonders, from a hulking Neoclassical cathedral to Spodek, a UFO-like arena from the 1970s.

Let’s explore the best things to do in Katowice :

1. Silesian Museum

From a distance the first thing that will hove into view as you approach the Silesian Museum is the giant headframe that had stood idle after the Katowice colliery around it closed in 1999 after almost 180 years.

Now that tower has an observation platform open in summer.

The headframe isn’t the only part of the mine that has been converted, as four levels of subterranean tunnels below have been turned into galleries for art, photography, ethnography and archaeology and much more.

The idea behind moving all of the exhibitions underground is to avoid interfering with Silesia’s post-industrial landscape, and daylight filters into the galleries from glass cubes at the surface.

At a museum as out-of-the-ordinary as this it hardly matters what’s on show, but the exhibition of Polish art from 1800-1945 features eminent names like Jan Matejko, Piotr Michałowski and Józef Chełmoński.

2. Nikiszowiec

A few minutes on foot or a brief bus-ride from the centre of Katowice is a superb piece of Polish national heritage; an intact city district for 8,000 people built for miners at the Giesche colliery.

Nikiszowiec was in fact a separate, self-contained city, from its completion in 1918 until it was absorbed by Katowice in 1951. The settlement had interconnected houses, each containing 12 apartments and often linked by arcades on the ground floor.

There were 1,000 apartments in all, in beautiful brick buildings that had shops, a police station, bakeries, a swimming pool, a hotel, a school and church close at hand.

A popular shooting location for movies, the settlement looks almost as it did a century ago and tucked into the arcades are a few specialty shops and cafes.

3. Museum of the History of Katowice

The headquarters for this museum, and most of its departments, are in a tenement house from 1908 on Ulica Szafranka.

If you wanted to pick one setting to sum up Katowice, this would be perfect, as in this period the city was growing at a dizzying rate.

The permanent exhibition shows you around two apartments; one for a rich industrialist family, and another for a moderately well-off member of the new bourgeoisie.

Both are complete with period furniture, personal items, appliances and decorated according to the fashion of the day.

Another exhibition guides you along a timeline of Katowice from its humble origins as a rural settlement in the 1200s to the factories of the 20th century.

Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, one of Poland’s most revered artists is represented in the art collection, which has the set of his pastel drawings in a single museum.

4. Kościuszko Park

Named after one of Poland’s national heroes, Kościuszko Park is the handiest green space if you’re in the centre of Katowice, swelling from six hectares when it was inaugurated in 1888 to more than 72 today.

Wreathed by an English landscape park made up of dozens of different tree species are formal flowerbeds, an avenue of roses and florid pergolas.

But the park also some compelling wartime stories to tell; the parachute training tower in the park’s southern reaches is 40 metres high and dates back to before the Second World War.

It was on top of this metal structure that a group of boy scouts staged a plucky attempt to defend the city against the Wehrmacht in on 4 September 1939. If you’re in town in winter there’s a toboggan run and ski slope to try out.

5. Silesian Insurgents’ Monument

One sight to give you a sense of place is this gigantic monument to the people who took part in the three Silesian Uprisings in 1919, 1920 and 1921. The cause was to force the Upper Silesia to join the new Polish state that had been created after the Treaty of Versailles.

Poles made up 60% of the population of Upper Silesia and rebelled three times, facing off against German armed forces while campaigning for plebiscite, which took place in 1921. The monument was unveiled in 1967, stands at a maximum of 41 metres, has 350 individual parts and weighs a total of 61 tons.

Each wing represents one of the uprisings, while details of the individual battles are etched on the slopes underneath.

6. Cathedral of Christ the King

Construction of this colossal archcathedral, the largest in Poland, began in 1927 and was interrupted by the Second World War.

It would finally be completed in 1955, and has powerful Neoclassical architecture epitomised by a 40-metre-high dome and an awe-inspiring portico.

Despite the classical lines it’s a thoroughly modern building, with a structure made from reinforced concrete and then clad with dolomite extracted from the Imielin quarries close by.

The stained glass was painted by Stanisław Pękalski, while all of the fittings were produced by one man, Mieczysław Król, in 1973. The three Silesian Bishops are buried in the crypt, and on the left side of the nave you’ll find an altar made of coal to St Barbara, patron saint of miners, commemorating those who have died in Silesia’s mines.

7. Ulica Mariacka (St Mary’s Street)

In the central Śródmieście district, the pedestrianised Ulica Mariacka is Katowice’s main nightlife artery, leading to the bold tower of St Mary’s Church, which we’ll explore next.

The street was only pedestrianised in 2008, and in 2011 a row of 30 cherry tree saplings were planted on the way, now sprinkling some colour in spring.

Packed into a few hundred metres are almost 20 taverns, and many more restaurants, bistros and nightclubs.

When the cars were banned in 2009 the city also invested in sprucing up the facades along the route, running the gamut from Neo-Gothic by the church on the east end to the west.

8. St Mary’s Church

With mass immigration to Upper Silesia and the city burgeoning in the middle of the 19th century, all these new residents needed a place of worship.

The answer was St Mary’s Church, which was erected in the 1860s.

And even though it’s a relatively new construction, this church has a lot of value as many of the most respected artists of the day worked on its fittings and decor.

The mesmerising stained glass windows were painted by Adam Bunsch, who learned his craft at the centre of excellence in Kraków, while on both sides of the nave, the “Marian Cycle” paintings are the work of Józef Unierzyski, student (and son-in-law) of the beloved Jan Matejka.

For something older, there’s a Late Gothic altar in the “Sacra Conversazione” chapel in the transept.

9. Architecture

Having only gained city status in 1865, Katowice isn’t a Medieval or Renaissance idyll like Kraków or Lublin; but that doesn’t mean that the city’s architecture doesn’t have its own power.

As the Śródmieście, city centre, was built in one go in the 19th century it was often compared to Paris for its many palatial tenement buildings, some with Art Nouveau design.

A few examples can be found on Ulica Mickiewicza, especially the corner building at no. 22, and the breathtaking Monopol Hotel at Ulika Dworcowa 5, from 1902. While the Market Square is a smorgasbord of 19th and 20th-century architecture with Modernist, Neoclassical, Socialist Realist and contemporary buildings.

After Stalin died, architecture in Poland was able to move on from Socialist Realism to more exciting frontiers.

And that is the context for this outlandish building, named “Saucer” in Polish.

Spodek was started in 1964 and work continued up to 1971. From then until just 2014 Spodek was the largest indoor arena in Poland, with a capacity of 11,500. And if you’re scratching your head wondering how this megastructure can support its own weight, it uses a concept known as tensegrity, a portmanteau of tensional integrity coined by the great Buckminster Fuller.

The man who put it into practise here was the engineer Wacław Zalewski.

More than 45 years later Spodek has outlasted Zalewski’s other landmark project, SuperSam in Warsaw, and was renovated in 2009.

11. Valley of Three Ponds

In the south of Katowice is a wooded park area spreading over 86 hectares, nine of which are taken up by water.

Despite the name there are 11 bodies of water in the park.

The largest ponds are set aside for recreation, mostly for fishing, but there’s also one pond with a marina for watersports and another with a beach that is a hit with families on hot days On land you can cycle or hike through lush deciduous forest, and if you don’t have your own set of wheels you can rent a bike via Katowice’s City by Bike service.

12. Giszowiec

If Nikiszowiec whetted your appetite for early-20th-century urban design, there’s more a few kilometres southeast of the city centre at another miners’ settlement.

Giszowiec is based on Ebenezer Howard’s concept of a Garden City and was built in just three years, providing greenery for the 600 families that moved in.

Originally occupied by workers at the Giesche Mine, Giszowiec’s houses are on four main streets converging at a central lime-shaded square.

The settlement soon had its own amenities like department stores, a school and a swimming pool, while a narrow gauge railway linked it with the neighbouring district of Janów.

13. Silesian Parliament

A Polish National Historic Monument, this government building was the largest edifice in Poland until the Palace of Science and Culture went up in Warsaw in 1955. With a Neoclassical design, the Silesian Parliament was completed in 1929 to be the seat of power of the autonomous Silesian Voivodeship.

This was created in 1921 following an uprising by its Polish residents and plebiscite after the First World War.

The immense building still holds government offices and has one of only four paternosters (open single-person elevators) remaining in Poland.

14. Silesian Philharmonic

Those with a taste for culture may already know that Katowice has one of Poland’s most illustrious orchestras.

The Silesian Philharmonic was founded at the end of the Second World War and played its first concert as early as 26 May 1945. Many distinguished soloists have performed with the orchestra, including Witold Małcużyński and Adam Taubitz.

The concert hall where the orchestra, mixed choir and chamber orchestra performs is a permanent part of Katowice’s heritage and came through a renovation, furnishing it with a new glass roof in 2013. Have a look at the programme when you’re in town, and if you come with children don’t rule out a visit as along with a cycle of symphonies by the likes of Dvořák, Brahms and Mozart there are family and child-oriented performances, especially around school holidays.

15. Guitar History Museum

An intrepid spirit will pay off at this private museum, which is all about plucked string instruments.

The attraction comes from a city-wide scheme in which culturally interesting homes can be opened up to visitors in exchange for lower rents.

The museum is open during the afternoon Tuesday to Sunday, and has 60 exhibits, all of which are in working order.

You’ll be able to track the development of the guitar to the instrument we know today, checking out its ancestors and relatives such as lutes and torbans.

None are older than the 20th century, but there’s a good reason for that, because the guide invites you to play the instruments as he shares his knowledge about them

Russia plans to increase number of tourist arrivals to Cuba

• June 4, 2024

Sputnik informed that all parties involved, including the Economic Development Ministry and the Transport Ministry, must develop a scheme for tourist exchange with Cuba to reach the pre-COVID-19 pandemic indicators.

The agreement also stipulates that Aeroflot Airline opened two weekly flights from Moscow to Varadero, Cuba, from June 1 to September 28, 2024, and will offer three flights a week from October 1 to October 26, 2024.

Rossiya and NordWind airlines will fly to Cuba twice or thrice weekly.

Flights between Russia and Cuba will also be operated by Venezuelan airline Conviasa, which will fly regularly between Caracas and Moscow, landing at Havana airport, the Finance Ministry stated.

Moscow is Russia’s vibrant capital city, and it also happens to be the largest city in all of Europe. The city’s long and infamous history makes it one of the most unique places we have ever visited.

The architecture ranges from centuries-old palaces to uniform, gray concrete buildings. The people range from cold and private to warm and welcoming. Moscow is a city is strong juxtapositions, and we learned a lot during our time there.

This post will break down all you need to know about visiting Moscow, including the best things to do, how to get there, how to get around, and more.

The Best Things to Do in Moscow

1. explore the red square.

The Red Square is the heart of Moscow. Most of the city’s top attractions can be found here, including just about everything on this list. The Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and Lenin’s Mausoleum are all located here, and the State Historical Museum and GUM are not far from here, either.

The Red Square is a common home for parades, protests, and seasonal celebrations. There are massive Christmas celebrations here, with food vendors and carnival rides set up in numbers.

2. Check Out the Ziferblat

The Ziferblat is a café in Moscow that is unlike any café we have ever been to. While most cafes charge you for your drinks and food, the Ziferblat charges you for your time.

Upon arrival, you are given a clock. When you leave, the barista calculates how much time you spent in the café and charges you accordingly. This concept was created to help visitors to be more intentional with their time, and the cafe itself is incredibly charming.

3. Marvel at St. Basil’s Cathedral

St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic churches in the world, and it was the single thing we were most excited to see while in Moscow. Built almost 500 years ago, St. Basil’s Cathedral is recognized by its colorful domes and whimsical style. The church is of the Russian Orthodox faith, and the inside is just as wondrous as the outside.

St. Basil’s Cathedral is located on the edge of the Red Square, making it incredibly convenient to visit. Entrance for non-worshippers costs 800 rubles, and tickets can be bought at the church

4. Explore the Kremlin

The Kremlin is the largest active fortress in Europe, and it is the site of most of Russia’s government affairs. In addition to government buildings, the Kremlin Complex is filled with courtyards, towers, and museums that are open to the public. If you have the time, you could spend a couple of days fully exploring all that there is to see in the Kremlin.

5. Walk Through Lenin’s Mausoleum

Vladimir Lenin is one of the most important figures in Russian history, and his body is located perfectly embalmed in a mausoleum in the Red Square. The Mausoleum is open to the public to visit, and as long as you are willing to go through a few security checks, it is easily one of the best things to do in Moscow. Its convenient location in the Red Square makes it a can’t miss attraction.

There is absolutely no photography allowed inside the Mausoleum. Do not test this rule.

6. Wander Along Arbat Street

The Arbat is a very popular street in Moscow that is lined with stores, cafes, and other touristy attractions. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating back to the 1400s. This street is both quaint and trendy, and there are many walking tours that introduce tourists to the neighborhood’s wonders and highlights.

7. Catch a Show at the Bolshoi Theatre

As a lover of the arts, it is hard to think of Moscow and not think of ballet. Russia has always been a top dog in the world of fine arts, and Bolshoi Theater is one of the best places to catch a performance. We were lucky enough to attend an Opera here, and it is a venue that you don’t want to miss out on if you enjoy opera, ballet, or orchestral performances.

8. Visit the State Historical Museum

The State Historical Museum is one of the most respected museums in Moscow. Despite its name, it is not really focused on the history of Russia as a nation. Rather, it contains a collection of artifacts from all throughout Russia’s history.

The museum’s collection is very broad in nature. It houses some items from indigenous tribes that used to occupy the region, pieces collected by the Romanov family, and more.

9. Wander Around GUM

GUM is an absolutely massive mall within walking distance of the Red Square. It isn’t just the size that draws visitors here; it’s the sense of luxury. The mall is so beautiful inside, much like the metro stations.

While visiting a mall might not sound like it belongs on a bucket list, this mall does. You will not want to miss out on visiting GUM while in Moscow.

10. Admire the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

While St. Basil’s Cathedral is the most iconic church in Moscow, it isn’t the only one. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is absolutely stunning, with massive golden domes. It is the tallest Orthodox church in the world, and it is the seat of the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow.

It is located just about a mile from the Red Square, just south of the Kremlin Complex. You can walk to it from the Red Square in about 20 minutes.

How to Get to Moscow

Moscow has three major international airports: Sheremetyevo (SVO) , Domodedovo (DMO) , and Vnukovo (VKO) . All three of them are directly connected to downtown Moscow by the Aeroexpress trains, which leave every 30 minutes throughout the day. By Aeroexpress train, you can expect to get to the city center in 25-45 minutes depending on the airport that you fly into.

Sheremetyevo is the biggest and busiest of the three airports, and it is the one you are most likely to fly into – especially if you are coming from outside of Europe or the Caucus region. We flew into Sheremetyevo on a direct flight from New York City.

I usually provide backup airport options, because flying right into the city isn’t always the cheapest way to get where you’re going. Unfortunately, when it comes to Moscow, don’t really have a choice other than to fly right into Moscow. It is a very remote city, and it is usually the cheapest place to fly into in Russia as a whole.

Since Sheremetyevo is so busy, you will probably find a great flight option anyway. I wrote in  my post about finding cheap flights  that using hub airports will lead to more affordable airfare, and the same logic applies here. Even though Russia’s national airline, Aeroflot, is no longer a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Moscow is still a major hub connecting passengers from all over the world.

Train or Bus to Moscow

Trains and buses are one of the most popular ways to get around Europe. However, they’re of very little use when you’re trying to get to Moscow.

Moscow is hundreds of miles from the nearest major cities. The only major European city that can even be reached within 8 hours on the ground is St. Petersburg, and even the Baltic capitals of Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn are over 12 hours away.

If you want to get to Moscow, the best option is almost always to fly. While the train routes to Moscow are scenic, they simply take forever.

How to Get Around Moscow

Moscow has one of the most memorable metro systems in the world. Its metro lines are very deep underground, and the stations are absolutely stunning. Each station has its own unique style, but all of them contain escalators that seem to go on forever.

The system was built in an effort to showcase the power of the Soviet Union and its bright future. The plans were a form of propaganda, but they resulted in what is still one of the most visually appealing subway systems on earth.

Moscow’s metro system isn’t just pretty. It is also very useful and accessible. The system has 17 lines that connect the city and its surrounding area.

But wait; there’s more!

The Moscow metro system is also incredibly affordable, with each ride costing less than a dollar. The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow, as it is almost impossible to beat the connection times and the low cost to ride.

Tickets can be bought at electronic, English-speaking kiosks in stations, or directly from ticket counters at certain larger stations. There are also day passes available, which are a very solid option if you plan on riding the metro several times per day.

In addition to the metro system, Moscow also has a network of buses, trams, and trolleys. This system is nowhere near as convenient or well-connected as the metro, though, and is likely of little use to you during your trip. There is no Uber in Moscow, but a similar app named Yandex is available if you need a ride in a pinch.

How Many Days Do You Need in Moscow?

Moscow is the biggest city in all of Europe, and it is absolutely loaded with things to do. You could spend weeks in Moscow and still find new things to do. Of course, most travelers don’t have that kind of time to spend in one place!

I recommend spending no less than three full days in Moscow, and ideally closer to five or seven.

Moscow is very spread out, and it can take some time to get from one major point to another. There are also so many places that are nice to just sit back and relax, which is hard to do when you’re in a hurry trying to cram activities into just a few days.

If you only have a week to visit Russia, I’d advise spending all of the time in one city. If you decide to split your time between Moscow and St. Petersburg, I recommend not trying to squeeze in any day trips beyond those two cities.

When Is the Best Time of the Year to Visit Moscow?

There are two different ways to approach this question. Personally, I think the best time to visit Moscow is around Christmas and New Year’s Day. While the weather will be absolutely freezing, Moscow is a surreal winter wonderland in December and January.

We were in Moscow right before Christmas. While it was very cold, you can always bundle up. Exploring the Christmas markets and pop-up ice skating rinks throughout Moscow is one of my favorite memories from anywhere I’ve traveled, and I dream of going back to do it again.

If you aren’t fond of the cold, Moscow is beautiful in the summer. It tends to get pretty cold in the shoulder seasons, so if you want warm weather, you should plan to visit in the summer. Moscow actually gets pretty warm in July and August, and there are a bunch of fantastic places to soak up the sun within the city.

The best time to visit Moscow is either around Christmas or from late May to August.

Is Moscow Safe to Visit?

While Moscow is a truly wonderful city, there’s no denying that visiting Russia comes with risks. As the country is run by an infamous communist dictator, concerns about visiting are valid. While we didn’t experience any sort of threat or negative treatment during our time in Moscow, we visited in a peaceful time.

In our experience, Russia doesn’t seem to detain normal Americans or Westerners to use as pawns. As a regular person, as long as you don’t commit any crimes, there is a slim chance you will run into any issues. However, Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.

To make matters worse, Russia has a bad reputation for gang violence. While the Russian mafia has very little interest in normal Western tourists, they won’t hesitate to pick a fight with anyone who ventures into their sphere of influence. If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.

Finally, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things are all very different. Russia is currently at war, and there are battles raging within 8 hours of Moscow. While it is still relatively safe to visit, that could change at any time as the war with Ukraine continues.

Is Moscow Worth Visiting?

Without a doubt, Moscow is worth visiting. It is one of the most unique major cities we have ever visited, and we hope to make it back one day. The Russian Orthodox churches are stunning, the city’s history is unlike any other, and the food is to die for.

While many visitors prefer St. Petersburg to Moscow, I think Moscow deserves a lot of hype of its own. Moscow is the beating heart of Russian culture and history, and it’s a place I highly recommend checking out if you have the chance.

Want to get out of Nashville this month without spending too much? Even as the summer travel season ramps up, you can still find flights for $100 or less out of Nashville International Airport.

The most recent data from Hopper, an online travel agency that tracks airline fares, has cheap tickets to a dozen destinations. Tickets to some cities, like Miami and Philadelphia, are as low as $50.

In May, Hopper found tickets to 14 destinations for $100 or less , so bargains are getting harder to find. Late June is the peak of the summer travel season. The Transportation Security Administration predicts this summer will be the busiest ever for U.S. airports.

Where is the cheapest place to fly right now?

Half the cheap tickets found by Hopper for June were $60 or less. These inexpensive destinations include New York City, Orlando, Florida and Dallas.

Tickets to popular tourism destinations New Orleans and Las Vegas could also be had for under $100.

In general, try to book between 21 to 60 days before your departure to save up to 15% on airfare, according to the online travel agency Expedia.

When booking, be aware that discount airlines like Allegiant and Spirit, which often have the lowest fares, also charge fees for carry-on bags, seat-assignments and other amenities.

Jedynie malutki minusik za to że codziennie było to samo na śniadanie. Po kilku dniach może pojawić się znużenie:-)

Śniadanie podawane w formie szweckiego stołu . Dużo, różne rzeczy- dość smaczne( kiełbaski, jajka, warzywa, jogurty itp) Myślę że każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. I myślę że w tej lokalizacji śniadanie to akurat bardzo dobry pomysł . W pobliżu ( ok 8 min drogi w dół) są tawerny, są też zwykłe sklepiki , ale w nich jest naprawdę mały wybór rzeczy jadalnych. Obiekt spełnia warunki jeśli chce sie mieć święty spokój i chce się wypocząć nad basenem ( ten jest doskonały :-))

The capital of Russia is an incredible place to explore. Visitors to Moscow come away spellbound at all the amazing sights, impressed at the sheer size and grandeur of the city. Lying at the heart of Moscow, the Red Square and the Kremlin are just two of the must-see tourist attractions; they are the historical, political and spiritual heart of the city – and indeed Russia itself.

A fascinating city to wander around, stunning cathedrals, churches, and palaces lie side-by-side with bleak grey monuments and remains from the Soviet state. In addition to its plethora of historical and cultural tourist attractions, Moscow is home to world-class museums, theaters and art galleries.

Renowned for its performing arts, fantastic ballets and amazing circus acts, catching a show while in Moscow is a must. The wealth of brilliant restaurants, trendy bars, and lively nightlife means there is something for everyone to enjoy.

17. Tsaritsyno Palace

Once the summer residence of Catherine the Great, the stunning Tsaritsyno Palace is now a museum-reserve. The architecture is magnificent and there is a lovely park surrounding it for visitors to explore.

Located in the south of Moscow, the palace was commissioned in 1775 and recent renovations mean its lavish interior looks better than ever before with its elegant halls and beautiful staircases.

The exhibits on display look at the life of the empress as well as the history of Tsaritsyno itself. The huge palace grounds are also home to some other delightful buildings with the elegant opera house and wonderful brickwork of the Small Palace being particularly impressive to gaze upon.

Starting out in 1935 as the ‘All-Union Agricultural Exhibition’, VDNKh has slowly morphed over the years into the fascinating open-air museum of today. Remarkably, over 400 buildings can now be found within its confines.

The huge park complex has numerous pavilions representing former Soviet republics on show, such as those of Armenia and Turkmenistan and the distinctive architecture of each of the buildings is always interesting to gaze upon. In addition to this there is the fascinating Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics which is dedicated to space exploration and the fun Moskvarium aquarium even offers you the chance to swim with dolphins.

With lots of eateries scattered about and numerous entertainment options such as horse-riding and zip-lining, there is something for everyone to enjoy; the Friendship of Nations fountain truly is wonderful.

15. Kremlin Armoury

One of the oldest museums in the city, the Kremlin Armoury has a wealth of treasures; highlights include the ornate Grand Siberian Railway egg, the historic Cap of Monomakh and the stunning Imperial Crown of Russia which often has a crowd of tourists around it, jostling to take a photo.

Once the royal armory, there are loads of fascinating objects on display. Perusing the many sabers, jewelry, armor and more is as interesting as it is educational and entertaining and the swords are so finely crafted that you’ll almost wish you could pick up one and wield if yourself.

Established in 1851, the museum is situated in the Moscow Kremlin.

14. GUM Department Store

Standing for ‘Main Universal Store’ in Russian, GUM is stunning. Its wonderful skylights and beautiful facades mean it doesn’t look out of place alongside its illustrious neighbors on Red Square.

With over 200 shops, boutiques and upmarket eateries inside, it is a shopaholic’s heaven and concerned partners will be glad to find more affordable options alongside luxury brands such as Dior and Prada.

The main department store in the city, GUM was opened in 1893. The stunning architecture makes it well worth a visit even if shopping isn’t your thing.

13. Moscow Metro

It’s not often that public transport looks like a work of art. So many stops on the Moscow Metro will astound visitors with their beauty and elegance.

12. Arbat Street

11. Novodevichy Convent

Drenched in history, the Novodevichy Convent is located in a striking building that was once a fortress. This captivating place is well worth visiting when in Moscow.

Founded in 1524, the convent houses four cathedrals; Smolensk Cathedral is the undoubted highlight due to its delightful 16th-century frescoes.

Wandering around the grounds is like stepping back in time. The Novodevichy Cemetery is where many famous leaders of the Soviet Union are buried, such as Yeltsin and Khrushchev.

10. Pushkin Museum

Despite its name, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts actually has no connection at all to the famous poet other than that it was named in his honor after his death. A delight to visit, its extensive collection focuses on European art with masterpieces by Botticelli, Rembrandt, and van Gogh all featuring.

Sculptures, graphic art, paintings and more can be found in its beautiful galleries; various sections look at themes and epochs such as the Renaissance, the Dutch Golden Age, and Byzantine art.

Among the many highlights are the clownish characters which can be found in Cezanne’s Fastnacht (Mardi Gras) and the twirling ballerinas who look so elegant in Degas’ Blue Dancers. Picasso’s Young acrobat on a Ball is also well worth checking out for its interesting use of shapes and colors.

9. Christ The Savior Cathedral

This gorgeous Russian Orthodox cathedral is located on the banks of the Moskva River, just a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin.

The church as it stands today was consecrated in 2000, as the original church that stood here was destroyed on the command of Josef Stalin in 1931 due to the anti-religious campaign.

With its delightful golden dome, spires and dazzling white facades, the Christ the Savior Cathedral is stunning. The interior is just as captivating to wander around, with its beautifully tiled floors and impressive altar.

8. Lenin Mausoleum

Opened to the public in 1924, Lenin’s Mausoleum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow. The red granite structure is located at the heart of the city in Red Square.

Lenin’s embalmed body lies in a glass sarcophagus; it is a somewhat eerie experience walking past the former leader of the Soviet Union but is well worth doing as you understandably can’t do it anywhere else in the world.

After visiting the mausoleum, head to the Kremlin wall right next to it for more graves of important communist figures such as Stalin and Brezhnev.

7. Tretyakov Gallery

Home to the most extensive and impressive collection of Russian fine art in the world, the State Tretyakov Gallery is definitely worth visiting when in Moscow for the wealth of amazing art pieces that it has on display.

Having started out as the private art collection of the Tretyakov brothers, there are now over 130,000 exhibits. Highlights include the iconic Theotokos of Vladimir which you will almost certainly recognise despite probably not knowing the name and Rublev’s Trinity which is considered to be one of highest achievements in Russian art.

An absolute must for art lovers, the State Tretyakov Gallery will delight visitors with all that is has to offer.

6. Kolomenskoye

Once a royal estate, Kolomenskoye is now a museum-reserve and lies a few kilometers outside of the city center. A captivating place to visit, there is a plethora of history on show and the site overlooks the Moskva River.

Consisting of four historical sites, there are extensive gardens for visitors to explore, as well as loads of interesting old buildings, the former village of Kolomenskoye itself and the impressive Palace of the Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World by contemporaries.

Among the many stunning sights, it is the brilliantly white Ascension Church that is the undoubted highlight – dating back to 1532.

5. Gorky Park

Lying alongside the Moskva River, the huge Gorky Park is a lovely place to visit. Its extensive gardens are home to numerous cultural institutions and visitors should definitely check out the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and while the eclectic exhibits may not always feature such incredible sights as a balloon-covered rider on a zebra; they certainly always succeed in pushing back the boundaries of art.

Pop-up exhibitions and festivals can be found from time to time in the park itself and there is an open-air theatre and numerous eateries alongside a plethora of leisure activities.

Whether it’s cycling, table tennis or yoga that you are after or beach volleyball and rowing, Gorky Park certainly has it. In winter, there is a huge ice rink for visitors to enjoy.

4. Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the main theater in the country. The amazing opera and ballet performances it has put on over the centuries go a long way in explaining Russia’s rich history of performing arts.

While the Bolshoi Ballet Company was established in 1776, the theater itself was opened in 1825. The glittering, six-tier auditorium is lavishly and decadently decorated; it is a fitting setting for the world-class performances that take place on its stage.

Spending a night watching a performance of such classics as The Nutcracker or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi Theatre is sure to be a memorable experience and the beauty all around you only adds to the sense of occasion.

3. Moscow Kremlin

This famously fortified complex is remarkably home to five palaces and four cathedrals and is the historic, political and spiritual center of the city. The Kremlin serves as the residence for the country’s president. It has been used as a fort, and this fact is made clear by its sheer size. The Kremlin’s outer walls were built in the late 1400s.

Under Ivan III, better known as Ivan the Great, the Kremlin became the center of a unified Russian state, and was extensively remodeled. Three of the Kremlin’s cathedrals date to his reign that lasted from 1462-1505. The Deposition Church and the Palace of Facets were also constructed during this time. The Ivan the Great Bell Tower was built in 1508. It is the tallest tower at the Kremlin with a height of 266 feet (81 meters).

Joseph Stalin removed many of the relics from the tsarist regimes. However, the Tsar Bell, the world’s largest bell, and the Tsar Cannon, the largest bombard by caliber in the world, are among the remaining items from that era. The Kremlin Armory is one of Moscow’s oldest museums as it was established more than 200 years ago. Its diamond collection is impressive.

The Kremlin’s gardens – Taynitsky, Grand Kremlin Public and Alexander – are beautiful. The Kremlin has also served as the religious center of the country, and there is a tremendous number of preserved churches and cathedrals here. The collections contained within the museums include more than 60,000 historical, cultural and artistic monuments. Those who enjoy the performing arts will want to consider attending a ballet or concert at the State Kremlin Palace. Completed in 1961, it is the only modern building in the Kremlin.

Lying at the heart of Moscow, Red Square is the most important and impressive square in the city. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions due to its wealth of historical sights and cultural landmarks.

Drenched in history, the huge square is home to incredible sights such as the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum, among others. Consequently, it is not to be missed when in Moscow as it really is home to the city’s most stunning monuments.

It is here that many important moments in Russian history took place; the former marketplace has hosted everything from Tsar’s coronations and public ceremonies to rock concerts and Soviet military parades. Wandering around the massive square is a humbling experience and undoubtedly one of the highlights the city has to offer.

1. Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Located in the impressive Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral is gorgeous; its delightful spires appear as if out of a fairytale. The most recognizable building in the country, the cathedral is very much a symbol of Russia. No visit to Moscow is complete without having taken in its unique and distinctive features.

Ivan the Terrible ordered the cathedral’s construction in the mid-16th century, and legend holds that Ivan put out the architect’s eyes so that he would be unable to build another cathedral more glorious than St. Basil’s. Designed to resemble the shape of a bonfire in full flame, the architecture is not only unique to the period in which it was built but to any subsequent period. For various reasons, both Napoleon and Stalin wanted to destroy the cathedral but fortunately did not succeed.

Known for its various colors, shapes and geometric patterns, St. Basil’s Cathedral houses nine different chapels that are all connected by a winding labyrinth of corridors and stairways. On the lower floor, St. Basil’s Chapel contains a silver casket bearing the body of St. Basil the Blessed.

Outside the cathedral is a lovely garden with the bronze Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, who rallied an all-volunteer Russian army against Polish invaders during a period of the late 16th century known as the Times of Troubles.

Ukraine's exploding naval drones are hunting down Russian vessels like tugboats after the big Black Sea Fleet warships fell back

Ukraine is using its arsenal of exploding naval drones to hunt down smaller Russian vessels instead of the larger Black Sea Fleet warships, which Moscow pulled back to reduce their vulnerability to attacks.

The Ukrainian Main Directorate of Intelligence stated that one of its special forces units staged a "successful attack" that destroyed a Russian military tugboat on Thursday. The operation against this Project 498-series vessel took place near the northwest corner of the occupied Crimean peninsula.

"Devastating fire damage was inflicted after the successful breakthrough of the line of defensive barriers of the occupiers in the Black Sea area," the HUR said in a statement shared to the Telegram messaging app, adding that the vessel "will no longer sail."

The operation appears to have been carried out by a Ukrainian surface drone, according to footage published by the HUR, although the exact model is unclear. Kyiv has relied on a fleet of homemade Magura V5 and Sea Baby drones packed with explosives to carry out devastating missions against ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet throughout the war.

Footage of Thursday's operation, captured by a camera placed on one of the drones, appears to show a rather complex attack.

Multiple explosions can be seen around the coast, and the drone appears to slip through a hole in the floating boom defenses. The barrier may have been targeted in advance to allow the drone to pass through, though it's unclear. Russia has relied on these types of defenses — along with moored barges — to try to protect its ports from Ukraine's naval drones.

After navigating the harbor, the naval drone is seen eventually homing in on the tugboat. It then appears to slam into the Russian vessel, causing the video connection to terminate.

Business Insider could not immediately verify the footage.

Ukraine has, in recent weeks, been targeting smaller Russian military vessels in the northwestern Black Sea after Moscow moved its larger, more vulnerable warships away from the area and across the region following a string of devastating attacks.

Last month, for instance, Kyiv used its naval drones to conduct multiple operations against Russian patrol boats near Crimea.

The Black Sea fight has been a notable area of success for Ukraine. Lacking a proper navy of its own, Kyiv has relied on naval drones and long-range anti-ship missiles to wage an asymmetrical style of warfare against the Black Sea Fleet.

Russia has proven incapable of consistently protecting its warships against these threats. It has bolstered the defenses on its vessels and even sent combat aircraft to patrol the region. Earlier this year, Moscow also reshuffled its naval leadership , though the personnel changes have done little to save its fleet.
