Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, a ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (the ruling family of the Golconda - previously a feudatory of Bahmani sultanate that declared independence in 1512) founded the city of Hyderabad on the banks of the Musi River in 1591. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb captured Hyderabad in 1687, but the Mughal-appointed governors of the city soon gained autonomy. In 1724, Asaf Jah I, who was granted the title Nizam-ul-Mulk ('Governor of the country') by the Mughal emperor, defeated a rival official to establish control over Hyderabad. Asaf Jah's successors ruled as the Nizams of Hyderabad. The rule of the seven Nizams saw the growth of Hyderabad both culturally and economically. • Top 9 Tourist Places To Visit In Telangana For An Unforgettable Trip

Top 9 Tourist Places to Visit in Telangana for an Unforgettable Trip

Top 9 Tourist Places to Visit in Telangana for an Unforgettable Trip

The 29th state of our beautiful India, Telangana’s tourist places are packed with intriguing history, rich heritage, and cultural sagas, making the state’s tourism game stronger. Telangana comprises ten north-western districts that were once a part of Hyderabad city. Now, Hyderabad is shared as the capital city between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The famous Char Minar that is located in Hyderabad is also shared amongst the two states. Telangana houses the Kuntala Waterfalls that comes with an interesting legend. It is said that the waterfall is born out of a love story between a sage’s daughter and a prince. The Kuntala Waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in Telangana, offering a cool respite to tourists. While the Char Minar and Kuntala Waterfalls are pretty famous tourist attractions in the state; we have listed down some of the other famous tourist places in Telangana for a memorable trip.

Let’s dig in, shall we?

Hyderabad

Call it the City of Pearls or the City of Nizams, Hyderabad exudes a combination of vintage charms and contemporary beauties While the area of Char Minar depicts the Old City, the Hi-tech City represents the modern side, which is also known as Cyberabad. For your  Hyderabad city tour , you can see grand and stately mosques, bustling bazaars, high-rise office buildings, swanky malls, and much more. Adding to this, Hyderabad also houses forts and palaces that boast grand architecture, which you can visit during the trip to get a glimpse of the city’s rich past. The splendid Char Minar is a classic example of the same. Built entirely out of limestone and granite, the Char Minar is one of the most iconic landmarks in India. What’s interesting about this beautiful structure is that the four towers are placed on four sides with each one facing a different street.  Hyderabad sightseeing  becomes even more gripping when you try their famous, mouth-watering biryanis, seekh kebabs, haleems, and many more. Make sure that you relish these dishes without a miss.

If you are a fan of the kings and queens’ era, Warangal is your place to go in Telangana. Surrounded by spectacular natural beauty and greenery, the city has some of the most breathtaking and picture-worthy tourist attractions for you to visit. One of the historical places in Telangana, Warangal is the fifth largest city, which was once known as Oruguallu or Omtikonda or Ekasilanagaram as per legends. These names were given to the city because of the existence of a huge hillock that is said to be carved from one stone. The historical sites at Warangal are magnificent and speak stories of the bygone era. When it comes to the natural beauty of Warangal, Parkhal Lake is one of the best places to visit in Telangana.

A district in the North-Western region of Telangana, Nizamabad is a major urban suburb and the third-largest city in the state. The city is one of the best examples of history, religion, and natural resources like rivers, lakes, and so on. Nizamabad has a tropical climate along with occasional rainfall and less humidity as it is located far away from the coast. This makes it one of the best  places to visit in summer in South India . Nizamabad has amazing views, mesmeric places to visit, great food, and much more.

Forts & Architectural Beauties

Medak fort & cathedral.

Located in Telangana, 96 km from Hyderabad, stands a strong architectural magnificence of the yesteryears – the Medak Fort. Though the Medak Fort is mostly in ruins, it is still one of the most visited and breathtaking tourist spots in Telangana. Along with Medak Fort, there is also a Medak Cathedral that you can visit during your trip to Telangana. The Cathedral is built in the Gothic Revival style, which makes it one of the most gorgeous architectural beauties in India. The six differently-coloured mosaic tiles used in the construction of the Cathedral were imported from Great Britain. The Medak Cathedral truly is an architectural marvel that makes it one of the famous places in Telangana.

A famous place to visit near Telangana, it is also known as Chiran Fort Palace and was declared a national park in 1998, It has been a world-famous destination since then in India. The complex of the national park has the beautifully structured Chiran Fort Palace, a Mor bungalow on a hillock, Gol bungalow, motor khana for vehicles, stables for pet animals, and several water wells and tanks, encompassed by a thick, dense, and lush green forest. The KBR National Park is a relaxing tourist spot in Telangana, away from the chaos of city life, where you can simply relax and soothe your nerves.

Bogatha Falls, Warangal Overview

A mesmerising and eye-pleasing waterfall, the Bogatha Falls is known as the “Niagara of Telangana” and is the second-largest waterfall in Telangana. Offering breathtaking views of colourful landscapes, this tourist place in Telangana is an offbeat place, where the sweet sound of the gushing cascade takes away your stress; giving you a rejuvenated feeling. The water pours from an elevation of 30 feet and creates many small streams that further form to create a large magical pool at the bottom of the waterfall. The beauty of this falls makes it one of the top 10 tourist places to visit in Telangana. Later, this water from the Bogatha Waterfalls merges with the Godavari River. If you want to enjoy some time with your loved ones in the lap of nature, Bogatha Waterfalls is your place to go.

Kanakai Waterfalls

Life Stories by Veena Patil

‘Exchange a coin and you make no difference but exchange a thought and you can change the world.’ Hi! I’m Veena Patil... Fortunate enough to have answered my calling some 35 years ago and content enough to be in this business of delivering happiness almost all my life. Tourism indeed moulds you into a minimalist... Memories are probably our only possession. And memories are all about sharing experiences, ideas and thoughts. Life is simple, but it becomes easy when we share. Places and people are two things that interest me the most. While places have taken care of themselves, here’s my podcast, which I consider to be a great platform, through which I can share some interesting stories I live and love on a daily basis with all you wonderful people out there. I hope you enjoy the journey... Let’s go, celebrate life!
