FC Barcelona planning a tour to the United States

Raafay Humayun

Following the conclusion of the 2022/2023 football season in Spain, Mundo Deportivo reports that FC Barcelona are looking towards a proposed pre-season tour to the United States of America. Scheduled to take place in July of 2023, it would see Xavi’s men visit the country once again following their previous tour in the summer of 2022.

A major reasoning for the tour happens to be Barcelona’s economic situation. Finding a diverse plethora of revenue streams is currently a major objective for the Catalan giants, and tours such as the one being reported are a good avenue to increase their revenue generation.

Similar to the last time they traveled to the United States , FC Barcelona are expected to face the other two Super League advocates alongside them: Real Madrid and Juventus. Moreover, this time around, the Super League project seems like a much more approachable concept for teams that previously ended up opposing it, courtesy of the rulings in favor of the project made by legal authorities that frustrated UEFA and other domestic entities.

Furthermore, an expected favorable ruling by the Court of Luxembourg can also prove to be vital in making more and more clubs feel that the Super League project is actually an approachable outlet and may be reviewed.

However, Barcelona do intend on decreasing the length of their tour this time around in comparison to their 15-day period during their previous journey. Instead of taking part in 4 different games, it is rumored to be a 3-game tour during this visit.

The venues for this tour will reportedly be previously visited New York City, potentially the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, and a third venue located somewhere North of the country this time around.

Arsenal pre-season tour 2023: Fixtures, how to watch, tickets and everything you need to know

Arsenal are going back to the United States of America for their pre-season tour in 2023. So, here is everything you need to know about Mikel Arteta’s plans for his Gunners this summer.

The Emirates Stadium outfit enjoyed a successful visit across the pond one year ago. Arsenal went unbeaten through the off-season, including taking a 4-0 win against Chelsea and a 2-0 victory over Everton. Arteta built on the promise by making a Premier League title challenge.

Arteta will hope Arsenal get a similarly successful pre-season in 2023 ahead of the Gunners returning to the Champions League . Their trip to the States will also hand Arsenal’s academy players a chance to show the Spaniard their skills. So, here is everything you need to know…

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during a training session at London Colney on April 20, 2023 in St Albans, England.

When does Arsenal’s pre-season start?

The Arsenal first-team squad returned to London Colney to start pre-season training on July 3, 2023. Arteta and Arsenal’s coaching staff put their senior players not on international duty through medical screenings and strength tests before also carrying out some light ball work.

Arteta had also sought to get the Gunners back into the run of things early on in 2022 before he would oversee the club’s first top-four Premier League finish since in the 2015/16 season.

Ipswich Town helped Arsenal kick off their summer schedule a year ago in a behind-closed-doors friendly at London Colney. The Tractor Boys lost 5-1 at the Gunners’ training base on July 2. Arteta and his players also then jetted off to Germany to face FC Nurnberg on July 8.

As of July 11, Arsenal have announced six pre-season friendlies for across their mini-camp in Germany and their tour of the USA. The Gunners will face Premier League rivals Manchester United in New York and an MLS All-Star team managed by Wayne Rooney in Washington DC.

It is the first time that Arsenal have met Manchester United on American soil. The two arch-rivals each won one meeting across their two Premier League matches in 2022/23. Erik ten Hag’s club won 3-1 at Old Trafford before losing 3-2 to Arteta’s players at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have also built up their tour of America with a pre-season friendly against Barcelona in Los Angeles. They will meet the 2022/23 La Liga champions at SoFi Stadium, home of NFL side the LA Rams. Arsenal’s owner Stan Kroenke also owns the 2022 Super Bowl champions.

But before heading across the pond, Arsenal will take a short trip to Adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach for a mini-camp. They sought to return to the German brand’s training base after a brief stay in 2022. The Gunners will also take on FC Nurnberg again during their visit.

The Emirates Cup will also return to Emirates Stadium in 2023 with Arsenal hosting Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. It is the 12th edition of the Gunners’ pre-season tournament held at their ground. But this year’s edition will only see Arteta’s team feature once whilst on home soil.

While Arsenal began their pre-season at the club’s London Colney training ground on July 8 with a behind-closed-doors friendly with Watford. Marquinhos salvaged a 1-1 draw for the Gunners after the Brazilian’s second-half reply to Ismaal Kone’s strike during the first period.

  • July 8: Arsenal (1) v Watford (1), London Colney, Shenley
  • July 13, 18:00 BST: Nurnberg (1) vs (1) Arsenal, Max-Morlock-Stadion, Nuremberg
  • July 19, 01:30 BST: MLS All-Stars (0) vs (5) Arsenal, Audi Field, Washington DC
  • July 22, 22:00 BST: Arsenal v Manchester United, MetLife Stadium, New York
  • July 26, 03:30 BST: Arsenal v Barcelona, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles
  • August 2, 18:00 BST: Arsenal vs AS Monaco, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal will announce their remaining pre-season friendlies in due course. The Gunners had seven off-season games in 2022 including the return of the Emirates Cup. So, keep checking back to this page for regular updates on the north London club’s summer schedule for 2023.

How to watch the Gunners’ 2023 pre-season fixtures

Arsenal announced on June 30 that fans around the world, except in Germany and France, can watch the Gunners’ pre-season tour live exclusively via the club’s website. The Emirates Stadium natives’ MLS All-Stars meeting will only be available to watch via Apple TV, though.

Fans can watch Arsenal’s 2023 pre-season friendlies against Nurnberg, Manchester United, Barcelona and AS Monaco individually via their website for £6.99. Alternatively, the Gunners are selling a pre-season pass with all four of those encounters available to watch for £15.99.

Namibia Tour: Saurabh Netravalkar Returns for the USA Team

Judy rotich | sep 11, 2024.

USA cricket team players

By Caroline Chepkorir

The 33-year-old Saurabh Netravalkar was a star for the USA during the Men’s T20 World Cup. He picked up six wickets in as many matches. He is currently part of the team for the Namibia tour, which is happening this month.

The left-arm bowler missed the USA’s Netherlands tour as he was on paternity leave. During his absence from the T20I team, Ayan Desai was given a maiden call-up to the national team. However, Netravalklar will compete only in the ODI leg of the tour.

Meanwhile, Aaron Jones, the vice-captain, is currently playing for the St. Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League, and he is not going to be part of the Namibia tour team. Andries Gous, a significant cricketer for the USA in the T20 World Cup, is selected for the Namibia tour, and he will have to cut short his time with the Trinbago Knights in the Caribbean Premier League.

Former captain Steven Taylor is ruled out of the upcoming Namibia Tour due to injury. Taylor has had a difficult time since he joined the Bangladesh tour. He has not scored a half-century in his last 13 international innings, which adds pressure to batsmen like Sai Teja Mukkamalla and Smit Patel.

Smit Patel had earned himself a spot in the T20I team after his brilliant performances in the ODIs in the Netherlands; he struck two half-centuries in four matches. After an extraordinary underwhelming campaign with the Texas Super Kings in MLC 2024 and after he demonstrated an impressive performance during the Netherlands tour, Milind Kumar is back in the T20I team.

This year the USA defeated Pakistan in the T20 championship tournament. Captain Monank Patel agreed that the victory was a big achievement that created opportunities for the USA team and the cricket community. Patel struggled on the Netherlands tour, and he would like to lead from the front in the Namibia tour.

“I am happy with the win. Playing against Pakistan for the first time in the World Cup and beating them was an unbelievable performance from our side. So yeah, I would say it's a big day for Team USA and the USA cricket community too,” said Captain Patel in media reports.

The USA will play ODIs against Namibia and the UAE from September 16 to 26, and the team will play four T20Is against both teams; these matches will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2023-2027.

Important information for buying tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan:

Our goal is to maximize the number of fans who have an opportunity to shop.

The link in your text will direct you to the show you were selected for — either a show that was available during registration or a show that was announced after registration closed.

If you were selected for a show available during registration, your code will enable you to shop  that  show  or any show in the same city  that was announced after registration closed. (You will not be able to shop a different show that was available during registration).

If you were selected for a show announced after registration closed — i.e., the link in your text directs you to one of those shows — your code is good for that show. The race is on for 2025 tour cards.

The PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Fall series starts Thursday with the first of eight events. These will mostly serve as opportunities for those who didn’t make the top 70 in FedEx Cup points – and therefore didn’t qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs – to secure status for the 2025 season.

There is likely to be a drop in star power for many of these events but some big names will appear on the tee sheets over the next 11 weeks. For example, Sahith Theegala and Max Homa are in the renamed Procore Championship (formerly the Fortinet Championship) at Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

The fall tournaments have all the perks: a two-year PGA Tour exemption for winning (along with 500 FedEx Cup points). Also, winners get into the 2025 Sentry, the 2025 Players Championship and majors that reserve spots for Tour winners.

The top 70 from last year have 2025 status and spots 71 through 125 will be determined over the course of these eight fall events. Further, the players who finished 51st to 70th are still competing for spots in the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am and the 2025 Genesis Invitational, both signature events.

For those who finish 126th to 150th, they will have conditional status and can improve on that at PGA Tour Q School.

The eight FedEx Fall Series tournaments:

The 2025 Presidents Cup is Sept. 26-29.

The Gold Over America Tour is scheduled to come to Footprint Center on Wednesday, Sept. 18, its third night of the tour after opening in Oceanside, Calif., on Monday and Tuesday.

The tour is scheduled to visit 30 cities throughout the country, ending in Detroit on Nov. 3.

Hezly Rivera, Paul Juda, Brody Malone, Fred Richard, Joscelyn Roberson, Shane Wiskus and Yul Moldauer are some of the other gymnasts scheduled to be on the tour, but Biles is the headliner.

The tour website,  goldoveramericatour.com  describes the show: "Led by Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, the Athleta Presents Gold Over America Tour — or GOAT, its sublime acronym — brings an exhilarating display of jaw-dropping athletic brilliance and high-energy choreography coupled with inspirational messages of hope, strength, resilience, and determination. Every tumble, twist, and gravity-defying trick will have audiences on the edge of their seat at every performance."

Carey, an Arizona native who attended Glendale Mountain Ridge High, is bound to grab a lot of attention at the Phoenix tour stop after her performance at the 2024 Olympics.

Bucks County's Sabrina Carpenter kisses an alien then wins her first MTV VMA

NEW YORK — Quakertown native Sabrina Carpenter gave an out-of-this-world performance, rocking the UBS Arena on Long Island during Wednesday's 40th VMAs.

Later in the show, Carpenter's massively popular "Espresso" was awarded song of the year, marking her first VMA win ever.

"I've literally never won one of these," said Carpenter, who thanked her fans and her "cats and dogs that are at home watching" before quipping, "And thank you to that me espresso."

Sabrina Carpenter had the VMAs audience wrapped around her finger during her medley of "Please Please Please," "Taste" and "Espresso." It received one of the most enthusiastic reactions from the crowd all night. She started off by dangling in the air on a giant diamond before descending onto the stage and dancing alongside astronauts and a person in an alien suit — whom she proceeded to make out with.

Sabrina Carpenter on Short 'n Sweet Tour

Sabrina Carpenter's new album, “Short n’ Sweet,” is apparently a bit too racy for many moms and dads. The album is “chock-full of innuendos, expletives and sexually charged lyrics,” according to the New York Post.

“Let’s pray for all the mums of 9-year-old kiddies wanting to play ‘Short n’ Sweet’ in the car right now,” said a fan on TikTok video.

Carpenter, the 25-year old whose family also resided in East Greenville, Montgomery County, first gained notice on Disney's “Girl Meets World,” and she's been releasing records since 2013. Now she's playing Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Sept. 29; the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday, Sept. 30; and the Wells Fargo Center in Philly on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Sabrina Carpenter hangin' with Taylor Swift

It's been a whirlwind past year-plus for Carpenter. After a stint as the opening act on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in South America, Asia and Australia, the singer and actress performed in April at Coachella in California then was the musical guest on the season finale of "Saturday Night Live."

Carpenter has been tight with Swift prior to the Eras tour, attending her concert as a fan at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in May 2023 and in the Kansas City Chiefs luxury box hanging with Taylor as they watched Travis Kelce and his teammates.

Along with her music career, Carpenter also is an actress who's best-known role was in the Disney Channel series "Girl Meets World," which ran from 2014 to 2017.  She has also appeared on “Law & Order: SVU” and the movies “Adventures in Babystting” (2016 version), “Tall Girl” (2019) and “Work It (2020).”

Taylor Swift thanks boyfriend Travis Kelce, honors Sept. 11 victims

Stop us if you've heard this one before, but Taylor Swift had a great night at an awards show.

The pop superstar took home another seven VMAs on Wednesday, including best collaboration and video of the year for "Fortnight," as well as artist of the year for the second year in a row. Swift now holds the record for the most career VMA wins of any solo artist, with 30.

Fans in the UBS Arena let out ear-shattering screams as Swift thanked "my boyfriend Travis (Kelce)," who wasn't in attendance, while accepting video of the year.

"Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic," she said.

On a more poignant note, the "Tortured Poets Department" singer took a moment earlier in the night to acknowledge the fact that the show fell on Sept. 11. "I've just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago, everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost," she said. "That is the most important thing about today."

All about the Clásico on the 2023 US Tour

We will have a Clásico in preseason! Barça will play their third game of the US tour against Real Madrid, a friendly which is to be played on 29 July in Dallas, kick off 4pm local time. The other three games will be against Juventus in San Francisco, Arsenal in Los Angeles and AC Milan in Las Vegas.

The third game of US Tour will take place at the AT&T stadium in Dallas, Texas. The venue was opened in 2009 and has a capacity of 80,000. The stadium is the home of the NFL team Dallas Cowboys and has hosted the Super Bowl (2011), the CONCACAF Gold Cup (2009, 2011 and 2013) and the ground will also be one of the venues for the World Cup in 2026 which will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

It will be the fourth time that Barça have played in Dallas. In 2011 the blaugranes faced Mexican team América in a 2-0 win at the Cowboys Stadium and in 2018 they beat AS Roma 4-2 at the AT&T Stadium. Last season the Cotton Bowl was the venue for a 2-2 draw against Juventus.

Previous friendlies against Real Madrid

Over their history, Barça and Real Madrid have met in 33 friendlies with the blaugranes having won 20, drawn nine and lost just four with 82 goals scored and 41 against.

22 of those 33 games came between 1906 and 1943 as well as the Club Champions Tournament (1928), Legends Tournament (1948), the Carranza (1969) and President of the Republic of Venezuela Cup (1982).

The most recent, however, was last summer in Las Vegas when Xavi's side beat Real Madrid thanks to a wonder goal from Raphinha.
