Description

Join Altitude Tours to experience the first gin tour in New Zealand, starting from Queenstown. Showcasing 3 unique venues, the Queenstown Gin Tour is a 6 hour small group adventure with premium transport onboard a Mercedes vehicle. Embark on a journey through Queenstown’s superb scenery to taste different gins, learn about gin distillation and, most importantly, have fun!

The first venue on your Queenstown Gin Tour is Cardrona Distillery, nestled in the mountains between Queenstown and Wanaka. Sit back for a scenic 45 minute drive with commentary from your knowledgeable Altitude Tours guide, or enjoy the view from above on a spectacular helicopter flight. Once you arrive, you are greeted with a behind the scenes tour of Cardrona Distillery and a private tasting of the premium gins & spirits produced here.

After a fascinating introduction into the world of gin, the Queenstown Gin Tour continues into historic Arrowtown. A second gin tasting awaits at The Winery, a beautiful cellar door which invites you to explore its vast range of wines and gins. Relax with a shared grazing board and choose your gin tasting paddle from the variety of options available.

For the final stop on your Queenstown Gin Tour with Altitude Tours, discover the Gin Garden by Broken Heart Spirits. Located in Arthurs Point, this boutique gin tasting room presents a range of local Queenstown gins and has a beautiful story behind its creation. Indulge in your final gin tasting of the day, accompanied by a German Tarte Flambee for the table, before the Gin Tour takes the final leg back to Queenstown.

If you’re looking to reach new heights, there is even the option to start this tour with a scenic helicopter flight from Queenstown to Cardrona Valley. Check out the Helicopter Gin Tour !

Genuine Customer Reviews powered by

Service rating:

What a great tour. Lily was amazing; friendly, knowledgeable and a perfect host. She even dropped people off at their accommodation at the end of the tour - going well beyond what was expected. Oh, and our little gift at the end of the tour was a lovely surprise.

Product rating:

Excellent value for money. My only suggested improvement would be to have individual servings rather than shared plates as some people felt the need to eat more than their fair share.

Queenstown Heli Gin Tour

Welcome to the world’s first helicopter gin tour. In the 1980’s it was wine, then craft beer and now the gin-dustry is making its mark in Central Otago. Let us take you on a gin journey and taste award-winning gins, learn about the distillation process, and graze on delicious shared platters, all while taking in the best scenery and sightseeing in the region.

On this afternoon tour, you will be picked up by our helicopter partner and whisked away on a 15-minute scenic flight to a secluded mountain location with panoramic views. Here your pilot will open the hatch, present, and pour a very exclusive and special gin - a truly remarkable way to kick off your afternoon. From here you will fly and land to join your Altitude Tours guide at the Cardrona Distillery, continuing by road for the remainder of the afternoon.

At the Cardrona Distillery, you will meet your gin guide and be taken through a full sensory, tactile tour of the facilities including a private tasting. We then continue down the Crown Range into the historic gold mining town of Arrowtown where we visit a wonderful cellar door experience called ‘The Winery’. Using the knowledge you have just gained, you will have a relaxed self-guided experience with a gin-tasting paddle to enjoy alongside shared grazing cheese boards.  The final stop is located near Queenstown at the “Gin Garden by Broken Heart Spirits'. You will be guided through a range of local Broken Heart gins in a private room with traditional German Tarte Flambee to share.

This gin experience has been designed to be a nice mix of education, sightseeing, and fun. It is perfect for all types of people and there is some flexibility to try other spirits such as vodka, whiskey, and of course wines throughout if you want to balance or restrict your gin-take.

The 6 hour Heli Gin Tour runs seasonally and departs at 12:15pm, returning at 6:30pm.
