Worn by none other than Rory McIlroy , the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3s have some serious Tour pedigree behind them. 

Nike's flagship spiked model, the Victory Tour 3, is designed to deliver best-in-class performance for players who desire unparalleled traction and stability to swing hard at the ball. 

Featuring a supple full-grain leather construction,  Zoom Air unit,  moulded 3D collar and Tour Flex Pro SoftSpikes, these shoes are packed full of performance-driven tech. 

To see if they could deliver out on the course, we took them for a spin at London Golf Club. 

Let's get into it. 

Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 Golf Shoes Looks:

Traditional is not typically a word we would associate with Nike golf shoes. The brand is renowned for producing golf footwear that pushes the boundaries of performance and technology, with the resulting designs usually being on the more modern end of the spectrum.

With that being said, the Victory Tour 3 has a very classic design. The traditional silhouette features a single Nike tick, with the remainder of the upper left clean.

The resulting overall appearance is one of the best on the market in 2024, and it's no wonder McIlroy opts to wear them, as they go well with almost any outfit. 

We tested the shoes in the Pure Platinum/White/Aquarius Blue/Obsidian scheme, but they are also available in two solid black and white colour options. 

While the silhouette is undoubtedly more classic than the Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour or the Ai Jordan 1 Low, it does feature some lovely modern touches that ground it in the modern game. 

For example, the subtle air branding on the midsole and the 3D moulded collar provide contemporary details that tie the whole design together beautifully. 

All in all, we really can't fault these shoes in terms of looks. They are a joy to look at, and as you will soon find out, they felt pretty special, too.

Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 Golf Shoes Comfort and Performance: 

Slipping the shoes on for the first time, they instantly feel snug. I wouldn't say I have particularly wide feet, but I did notice that around the toe box, there was fairly limited room for movement. 

While this was initially a cause for concern, after playing 18 holes, we didn't notice any discomfort, which we believe is mainly down to the supple nature of the leather. 

While we wouldn't say these shoes are quite as comfortable as more trainer-like designs such as the ECCO LT1, they still provide ample cushioning and energy return that will deliver long-term comfort.

The shoes feature a 3D moulded collar and a strap that runs over the top of your foot. These two details combine to provide a very solid and locked-in feel. 

There is a reason McIlroy is able to hurtle himself at the ball: He feels strong and secure in his footing. That is certainly the sensation we experienced when out on the course. 

The shoe's construction provides excellent lateral stability, and the arch support on offer stopped us from getting too flat on our feet. This, in turn, prevented us from feeling any foot fatigue after 18 holes. 

In terms of traction, Nike has relied on the best in the business.

99 out of the last 100 major champions have relied on Softspikes for traction, and they've done so for a reason: the brand is the best in the business when it comes to golf spikes.

The spikes, located at seven points on the sole, are long and deep, providing excellent traction even in tough conditions.

If you are reading this from the UK, you will know how much rain we have had recently. When we took these shoes out for a test drive, it was positively sodden underfoot.

Despite that, we were able to swing freely without any loss of stability or traction. 

It's also worth noting that these shoes are fully waterproof, and despite the quagmire like conditions we encountered, we didn't feel a single drop of moisture on our feet.

Walking up and down hills, we also found that these shoes offer top-notch flexibility. Having hit our fair share of wayward tee shots, we were faced with some rather uneven lies, but the shoes held firm and delivered a stable base just when we needed it most.

Pro golfers know what they're doing when it comes to golf equipment, and we can completely understand why McIlroy trusts these shoes to deliver five-star performance and comfort on the course.

All in all, the Victory Tour 3 Golf shoes are some of the best golf shoes we've ever seen from Nike, and they are right at the top of the list for the best spiked golf shoes we have tested so far in 2024.

If you're looking to purchase a new pair of waterproof spiked golf shoes that not only look great but also feel and perform beautifully, then there aren't many better options on the market right now than the Victory Tour 3s. 

Featuring classic Nike styling, premium materials and a well-thought-out design, these shoes tick a lot of boxes. 

At £209, these shoes certainly aren't cheap, but thanks to their quality and versatility, you certainly get what you pay for.

In 2022 I was lucky enough to get to test the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 shoe , a model we saw Rory McIlroy wear for a while. This didn’t surprise me, because I thought the shoe offered very good performance. But then I started seeing pictures of Rory wearing the newer Victory Tour 3 model and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a pair. Could Nike improve the design? Were the slight cosmetic changes enough to warrant a slightly higher price tag? Or were there more design features that Nike changed as well? I tested the new shoes recently and here is what I thought. 

Let’s start with the looks. The new design looks different in several subtle ways. The new Full-grain leather upper has a supple feel and sophisticated look. The swoosh and midsole sections look slightly different and better in my opinion, and overall I think the shoe looks more refined. 

It looks like more of a traditionally sporty golf shoe that will suit a wide range of ages, whereas the previous model was perhaps better suited to younger audiences. I also loved the color I got sent, the fade of the shoe from blue to green really looks excellent and I did get a number of compliments on them. There are also several other colors to choose from, and there are special edition designs too for events like The Masters. 

Next I can honestly say these are one of the most comfortable shoes I have tested. The previous 2 was right up there in this regard but for me the 3 has taken it to a whole new level. This is thanks to elements like the extra thickness of the padding around the ankle which really felt soft and comfortable. As someone who can be prone to blisters in this area, I loved this design feature. Additionally Nike has added an internal strap on the inside of the shoe which actually contours to your feet, which is different from the mesh-like interior of the Tour 2 shoe. I think this change further elevates the 3 and while some golf shoes need wearing-in before they reach their peak comfort, we found this was not the case here. Nike also stitched a Zoom Air unit directly to the upper which delivered exceptional feel, and the foam towards the heel felt very cushiony, almost bouncy when walking on the course . 

As I expected, the grip and stability of the shoes was top-notch as well. The shoes have a new seven-way cleat system with two different types of spikes. The new Softspikes Tour Flex Pro are fitted in three forefoot areas whilst there are Silver tornado spikes in the heel and other side of the forefoot area. The result of this? Well I tested the shoes in different conditions and the traction remained very good. During one round I played on brown, burnt-out ground which can be slippery, softer ground thanks to a deluge of rain, and, because I was not playing my best, in a variety of different lies and stances. Each time, my grip and stability was never compromised. 

Overall, we can see why these are McIlroy’s preferred golf shoes. Nike has taken what was an excellent golf shoe in the Victory 2, and improved on it. The comfort here is outstanding as is the feel, the grip and stability is right up there and the look of the shoe is one of the best on the market . It is also 100% waterproof which is an absolute must for me. The only negative I could find with these shoes is the laces feel slightly cheap, but this is the tiniest of negatives that in all honesty, doesn’t matter to me really. In short, I love this shoe and it covers all the bases to a very high standard. It may come with a pretty punchy price tag, but I really do think it is worth it.

REVIEW: Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 NRG – Always Fresh, and Nike’s Freshest Yet

Nike’s Air Zoom Victory Tour lineup is one of the most popular in the world of golf from both a professional and amateur standpoint. It’s an affordable, comfortable, durable, and trustworthy shoe in various conditions. But Nike’s NRG lineup for golf offers some of the most rare colorways and editions of the mass-market golf shoe, and its 2023 edition, which sent an ode to the Masters, is no different.

Nike sent me a pair of these, and as I’ve got about four pairs in the current rotation from various manufacturers, there are some things I loved and some things I’d love to see them improve upon for future models.

Nike writes on its product page for the shoe:

“You ever daydream about Georgia in the spring? We do. With its peach-fuzz tones complementing a burlap sack-like base, this version is perfect for a long stroll through a warm, inviting Southern breeze. It offers robust comfort, unreal energy return and all-new spikes, whether you’re swinging through or playing through en route to 36. Radiant brights and extra-juicy green goodness throughout remind you to keep it fresh, always.”

First Impressions and Looks – 9.5/10

In the past, I’ve opted to buy Nikes in a Wide, especially when it comes to the Air Zoom Victory Tour. Last year’s edition set me back $125 after they had been out for a few months, and I only wore them a handful of times because I didn’t buy them in a Wide. I don’t normally buy Wide shoes, but these Air Zoom Victory Tours, in particular, have quite a bit of cushion, and they take some time to get broken into and form to your foot. There are plenty of other Nikes I’ve had in the past for golf that don’t fit my feet so snugly, but these seem to be cut a tad more narrow than others.

If I could make a suggestion, hit your local golf store and try a pair on before you buy, just to be sure.

Now, as a superfan of the Masters and someone who, in my opinion, is a bigger fan of the tournament than most (I don’t delete my Masters app after that weekend in April wraps up), I truly loved the theme of these shoes. They look great, and in all honesty, I didn’t even want to wear them, that’s how great they look to me. I wore them with a Nike ankle sock, and they looked better with those than with no-shows. I didn’t have much luck finding how other players wore it; it seems to be a shoe many people do not want to wear.

They look so good, and even the follow-through on your swing will give onlookers something to gander at, as the bottom of the Left and Right shoes say, respectively, “Always Fresh.” That basically encapsulates what this shoe is.

They will set you back $200 a pair, but that’s not asking that much with the Special Edition colorway and the beautiful design of these shoes.

They were tight on my foot, but they were not uncomfortable. I decided to wear them for a few hours on Friday night as I planned to use them in a scramble on Saturday. My experience with these Nike golf shoes, in particular, is to set aside a little bit of time to get your feet acclimated before diving right into a round. Your feet will not regret it.

On the Course Performance – 9.1/10

It was a slick and rainy day on the course. I got out at 8 am on Saturday for a fundraiser scramble, and we had storms and showers all morning, and they persisted through the first few holes of the day before the skies cleared up and the sun poked out for the rest of the morning and afternoon.

When it comes to playing in the rain, you need something with some grip and traction. Spikes are a necessity, and I have to say, Nike offers some of the best out there. Despite playing in sopping wet conditions, I never once seemed to slip or lose my footing. I don’t usually have an issue with this with any shoe I wear, but there are times when I might be less confident than others in terms of conditions and what is on my feet. For what it is worth, these gave me the freedom and flexibility to swing with as much effort as I wanted. I didn’t have a concern in the world.

Comfort – 9.1/10

I truly do feel that these are comfortable shoes, but with their snug nature, as someone prone to blisters on the heel, I was nervous about these. A pleasant surprise, to say the least, I was able to avoid the blisters and come home to feet that were not in utter pain after a round of golf. I love new shoes but tend to wear something broken in already as I just don’t enjoy my feet aching for days and the irritation of having your blisters be rubbed constantly by anything that touches the heel.

These are light, comfortable, and a great shoe for walking or riding. They are narrow, but this could be due to the excess padding they’ve put throughout.

Durability – 8.6/10 (but could be higher)

I give the durability an 8.6 out of 10 because these shoes are not made with the most ideal materials. The upper is more of a suede material that I, in all honesty, was scared to get wet. I was surprised by the shoe and its ability to keep my feet and socks dry through the rain. As the ground dried, I could tell these were definitely going to be a shoe I would save for those days, I can’t say I’m overly confident in getting them to be Out-of-the-Box clean, but they did impress me in terms of their ability to stay dry and reasonably not-muddy. There are no real stains on them as they sit in the basement.

I think this score could be higher because I’ve only played 18 holes with the so far. I think I’d like to see how the materials hold up through the Summer or at least through a few rounds before I completely commit to saying they stay clean.

I prefer these to other Nikes I’ve had in the past, like the Roshe spikeless, for example. Those are more of a range shoe, in my opinion, and I feel they offer more breathability and versatility than these, but they are certainly not going to give you a stable and high-quality feel like the Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 NRG will. Roshes lasted me maybe 4 months with the amount I play. I know I’ll be wearing these well into next year.

Overall – 9.1/10

Overall, these are an excellent shoe to have for many reasons. My favorite part is the aesthetics, as they are just a great ode to a great tournament. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of wearing them, and they might be a shoe I throw on the feet a little more often than others. It’s not necessarily that I feel like they’re terribly better than other options, but the look and feel alone are worth noting.

I will say I am hoping for either less cushion or a slightly wider frame next year. They are comfortable, don’t get me wrong, but I do think they are also a tad narrow, and I would be more comfortable in a shoe with less cushioning and more focus on room and space. I can do without the massive amounts of cushioning.

Nike continues to be a mainstay in the world of golf footwear. While I don’t want to ruin these because of their Special Edition colors, I feel these will be worn a lot this Summer, and I hope to touch back on them in three or four months to see how they’ve held up through the rest of the year.

The Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 is the golf shoe worn by Rory McIlroy . Rory is one of the best golfers in the world, but is this one of the best golf shoes ? Let’s find out…

The Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 is Nike’s premium golf shoe and comes with an RRP of £209.99 in the UK or $190 in the US, which seems a bit harsh on UK golfers and puts it above comparable shoes from the likes of adidas , FootJoy , and Under Armour . But, if you shop around, you’ll be able to pick them up for quite a bit less than that RRP, so don’t let that put you off.

What do you get for your money with the Air Zoom Victory Tour 3?

There’s a full-grain leather upper which feels really soft and supple. There’s a two-year waterproof warranty, and it passed my scientific test of pouring a bottle of water on my foot while wearing them, not allowing any moisture through to my sock.

There’s an internal strap that sits underneath the laces, providing a secure locked-in fit.

There’s plenty of foam underfoot, giving a very soft and cushioned feeling, while the ankle area also feels well-padded and soft. There’s a ‘Zoom Air’ unit under the foot which is meant to “increase energy return”, but I couldn’t feel it and wouldn’t have known it was there if I hadn’t been looking for it.

The sole features seven Softspikes of two different types: four ‘Silver Tornado’ in the heel and outer side plus three ‘Tour Flex Pro’ in the forefoot. I certainly couldn’t feel the difference in the two spikes but the overall grip is faultless.

I found they fit true to size and were really comfortable right out of the box, with no rubbing on their first outing, which was 18 holes at a long course.

Despite being a sporty-looking shoe, they’re not super lightweight, weighing in at 416g in a UK size 9.5.

Looks wise, I think it’s a good combination of sporty and smart. It doesn’t necessarily scream premium, just because it’s pretty plain and simple, but I do like that understated style personally. The sole is the thing that stands out most from an aesthetic point of view.

The sole is very rigid, but that helps it feel secure and the amount of cushioning still provides plenty of comfort.

There are nine colors available, 10 if you include a limited-edition NRG model with gold and silver embellishments, which costs a little bit more.

Alternative options

If you like the look of these but want a cheaper option, there’s the Nike Victory Pro 3, but that doesn’t look as cool, lacks a lot of the tech in the Victory Tour 3, and only has a one-year waterproof warranty. Check out our list of the best Nike golf shoes .

The 2024 U.S. Women’s Open is set to tee off May 30 at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. The storylines include Nelly Korda shooting for her 7th LPGA victory this year, again as the prohibitive favorite, and Lexi Thompson announcing her retirement from the LPGA Tour at the age of 29.

Lexi Thompson will compete in the 2024 U.S. Open, and retire at the end of this year, at least from a full time schedule.

"While it is never easy to say goodbye, it is indeed time,” Thompson said via Instagram. “At the end of 2024, I will be stepping away from a full professional golf schedule. I'm excited to enjoy the remainder of the year as there are still goals I want to accomplish.”

The Par 70 Lancaster Club plays to 6,583 yards and features bentgrass fairways and greens. The course “handsomely rewards those with strong tee-to-green games and high ball flights,” according to the Fried Egg preview . Guess who has both? With those attributes and her newly improved short game and putting, it really feels like Nelly controls her own destiny.

Norda is the No. 1 ranked women’s golfer, and she’s the prohibitive favorite at +330 odds (just higher than 3/1). The next closest competitor is fellow American Rose Zhang. The 25-year-old Norda has already won 14 times on the LPGA Tour, including six of her last seven tournaments this year.

Three Non-Nelly Contenders

The Fried Egg preview notes these major challengers to Nelly Korda.

Rose Zhang made her first professional start one year ago. She’s won twice on the LPGA Tour, including three weeks ago. Zhang also took an extended break from golf while taking a full course load at Stanford this past year. A top-10 finish already in a major, Zhang’s 80% driving accuracy will serve her well on the narrow fairways at Lancaster in hopes of capturing her first major title.

Hannah Green has two wins this year on the LPGA Tour, and finished second most recently in the Mizuho Americas Open after going toe-to-toe with Nelly Korda. Green is shooting to become the fourth Australian woman to win the U.S. Women’s Open. Her motivation to become a professional golfer came while watching from just outside the ropes at Lancaster as fellow Aussie Karrie Webb contended in the 2015 U.S. Open.

Brooke Henderson climbed the leaderboard with a Sunday 66 that was good for a top-five finish in the 2015 U.S. Open at Lancaster. She was just 17 years old then, and now the 2-time major champion is improving with her driver and ranks No. 6 on the LPGA Tour in strokes gained : Total.

Nelly Korda plays in her 10th U.S. Open this week at age 25. Imagine. She commented in Tuesday’s press conference that it’s “Crazy. I feel like this event, getting to play it as a 14-year-old back in the day, was where I realized that this was what I wanted to do for a living.”

Korda added, “This golf course is a beast. It’s going to test every aspect of your golf game and mental game. Off the tee, if you don't hit it into the fairways, it sinks down into the rough. These greens are smalleer and very, very undulated.”
