my head trip meaning

“O Captain! My Captain!” is an elegy written by Walt Whitman in 1865 to commemorate the death of President Abraham Lincoln. It was first published in Sequel to Drum-Taps (1865), a collection of Whitman’s poems inspired by the events of the American Civil War. The poem is perhaps Whitman’s most famous—which is ironic, since it is far more conventional in meter, form, and subject than much of Whitman’s other work. Although some critics have suggested that Whitman regretted ever writing “O Captain! My Captain!” it undeniably captured the mood of a nation in mourning and has remained one of Whitman’s best-loved and most-quoted poems.

After everyone votes, the secret answer is revealed .

You each start with 3.

Your goal is to defeat 7 Heads before everyone’s chips are gone.

  • Infinitely replayable  with hundreds of bizarre, raunchy cards.
  • Fancy components  including a big colorful board and thick wooden chips.
  • Easy to learn  and under an hour to play.
  • Great for any size group  from 3 to 10 or more.
  • Not Cards Against Humanity  but written and designed by the same horrible people.

How to Play

Head trip is easy to learn..

Or would you prefer to watch a cool video ?

Rules Video

What is head trip.

Head Trip is a new cooperative party game about getting inside your friends’ heads while they answer fucked-up questions from ridiculous perspectives. It’s Cards Against Humanity’s first new game since “Cards Against Humanity.”

Our comedy scientists have computed that Head Trip is at least 86% as fun as Cards Against Humanity.

How do I play?

It’s easy. Each round, one person secretly answers a multiple-choice question from the perspective of a “Head” card, like “You are God.” Then, everyone else has to figure out which answer that person thought God would pick. You can learn the full rules here .

Can you show me an example of a round?

Sure. First, your friend might read this Question out loud:

What's the best part about pooing?

  • A) The privacy.
  • B) The feeling of the poo coming out.
  • C) The sound of that first plop.
  • D) Flushing the toilet and watching the poo leave your life forever.

And then this Head:

  • You are Santa Claus.

Your friend secretly decides how Santa would answer this intimate question. Then the rest of you discuss whether your friend thinks Santa’s favorite part about pooing is the privacy, the plop, or the feeling of squeezing all those chocolate chip cookies out of his jolly butthole— ho ho ho! Everyone then individually votes for A, B, C, or D. Get it right and you keep your voting chip. Otherwise, you lose it (you start with 3). There are a few more details, but that’s the gist.

So, what’s Santa’s favorite part about pooing?

Santa Claus loves dropping presents down tubes. Therefore, the answer is D.

How do I win the game?

Head Trip is a cooperative party game—you work together, and you win or lose as a team. Your group wins by getting through seven Heads before everyone runs out of voting chips. So every time someone loses a chip, it hurts the whole team. That’s why it’s good to really talk things through—not just what you think Santa Claus thinks, but what you all think your friend thinks Santa would think! Whoa man, what a HEAD TRIP!

You’re saying I don’t get to beat my friends?

Oh, don’t worry, you still get to beat your friends. If you do the best job voting for the right answers, you’ll have the biggest stack of chips, which makes you the best person.

What about the vibe? What’s it like?

Imagine eating warm tuna sandwiches at a golf course with your aunt while nursing a massive hangover, and you have urgent diarrhea but the bathroom is broken. The experience of playing Head Trip is the exact opposite of that.

I don’t like how Cards Against Humanity is littered with disgusting sex acts and godless liberal propaganda. Did you make these same mistakes with Head Trip?

Where can i buy head trip.

Head Trip is available everywhere fine cooperative party games are sold: the CAH Store , Target , Amazon , your local indie game store , the trunk of the car of a guy who calls himself "Laser Jeremy," etc.

Do you ship outside the US?

Yes. Head Trip is available for global shipping from the CAH Store . Please note that orders to the UK and EU will ship in early November.

Why are the cards so tall and colorful?

In a world where Cards Against Humanity ruined party games by turning everything into a monochrome Swiss modern snoozefest, Head Trip stands out from the crowd with its daring use of “colors” and “shapes.”

Hey, there’s a misprint on my ABCD tokens.

Yeah, turns out our fancy wooden chip printer messed up the tokens in a handful of the very first games we made. Email us at [email protected] for a free set of replacement tokens.

Can I play Head Trip with my kids?

Head Trip is rated 17+ for wanton profanity and hilarious sexual content. However, we respect your right as a parent to psychologically damage your children.

Should I do drugs while playing Head Trip?

You should do drugs regardless of whether you’re playing Head Trip.

Anything else I should know?

Dolphins have names and fuck each other’s blowholes . Isn’t that nice?

What To Do After Hitting Your Head

my head trip meaning

If you hit the back of your head, it's important to apply firm pressure to bleeding wounds, prevent movement, and stay completely still if you suspect a severe head injury. Call 911 and wait for medical help to arrive.

Head injuries range in severity from a bump or bruise (contusion) to a concussion, internal bleeding, or brain damage. These injuries are a major cause of disability and death in adults. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that nearly 61,000 people died from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in 2019.

Not every hit to the head will result in an injury, so it's important to know the types of head injuries and when to seek medical attention. Read on to learn what to do after hitting your head and when it's a concern.

What Is a Head Injury?

A head injury is a trauma to the brain, scalp, and skull. Accidents, falls, physical assaults, and traffic accidents commonly result in head injuries, most of which are minor.

There are two types of head injuries: closed and open. A closed head injury involves a blow to the head that does not break the skull. An open head injury, on the other hand, breaks the skull and can reach the brain.

Head injuries occur on a spectrum, with the most common being a mild TBI or concussion . Hitting your head on a cabinet door, falling, or getting injured playing a sport might cause one of these head injuries.

A head injury can progress from one degree to another, so it's important to seek medical attention if you are concerned. An epidural or subdural hematoma, for example, can occur several hours or days after a blow to your head.

Brain Contusion

A brain contusion is a bruise of the brain tissue. Minor bleeding occurs right away following impact, resulting in swelling. Contusions range in severity and may progress and worsen over time.

A concussion is an injury to the brain. You may remain conscious and feel dazed. Other symptoms include changes in cognitive function, headache , neck pain, and visual changes.

A hematoma is a collection of blood. Blood may gather inside the skull next to the brain or outside the skull under the scalp. This head injury can appear right away or take several days to develop.

There are different types of hematomas. An epidural hematoma is bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel in the space between the skull and the dura mater (the covering around the brain). A subdural hematoma is bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel between the dura mater and arachnoid (the area just outside the brain).

Minor Head Injury

Most head injuries are minor and do not penetrate the scalp, which protects your brain from trauma. You may sustain a bump, bruise , or cut on the head, but these injuries typically do not cause severe damage.

Skull Fracture

This is a crack in your skull. Broken skull bones can sometimes cut into the brain, which causes bleeding and may result in another head injury. These bones can lacerate (cut) an artery in the skull and cause an epidural hematoma, which presses on your brain.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

A bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body causes a TBI, which disrupts normal brain function. The majority of TBIs occur from falls, which are one of the leading causes of TBI-related deaths.

Moderate to severe TBIs can include contusions or hemorrhages , or bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel. These head injuries can increase intracranial pressure, or pressure in the brain, which may press on structures and restrict blood flow. These complications may result in severe brain damage or death.

You can usually see physical signs of injury when you bump your arm or sprain your ankle, which might prompt you to seek medical attention. Brain injuries, on the other hand, are not always visible. That's why it's important to know the symptoms of head injuries and when to address them.

Concussion and mild TBI symptoms include:

  • Anxiety, nervousness, and irritability
  • Attention, concentration, and memory problems
  • Balance problems
  • Feeling dizzy, slowed down, and tired
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light or noise
  • Sleeping less or more than usual
  • Vision changes

People typically sustain head injuries at home and work or while playing sports. The most common causes of head injuries include:

  • Bicycle and motor vehicle accidents
  • Blast trauma, which is common among military service members in combat
  • Blunt trauma accidents (e.g., sports-related injuries)
  • Falls, especially among older adults and young children
  • Physical assault

Anyone can develop a head injury. Some have a higher risk than others for severe problems, including people who are older than 65 and those who use blood thinners. These drugs prevent blood clots from forming.

What To Do

It's always a good idea to see a healthcare provider after a head injury, even if it's mild. Research has shown that seeking medical attention within one week of a mild head injury can improve recovery time.

Head injuries may worsen over time. A healthcare provider can help you monitor your symptoms to make sure they do not become severe. Some evidence suggests heart disease and endocrine (hormone) disorders were significantly higher in people with mild to severe head injuries than those without. Concussions can also exacerbate an existing health concern, including anxiety and migraines.

It's essential to be able to recognize a severe head injury and administer first aid if someone receives trauma to the head. Call 911 right away if you suspect a severe head injury.

Here's what to do while you wait for medical help to arrive:

  • Apply firm pressure to bleeding wounds unless there's a skull fracture: Do not replace the cloth if blood soaks through it. Place another clean cloth on top of the first one instead.
  • Check their airway, breathing, and circulation: Administer CPR if the person has stopped breathing.
  • Roll the person onto their side if they are vomiting: Move their head, neck, and body as one to protect their spine.
  • Support the person's head and neck with your hands: Keep their head and spine aligned and prevent them from moving.
  • Use an ice pack to reduce swelling: Cover the ice pack in a towel.

What To Not Do

You'll want to treat a possible severe head injury as carefully as possible. Make sure you do not:

  • Drink alcohol within 48 hours of the trauma.
  • Move the person if possible.
  • Pick up a child who has fallen.
  • Remove a helmet or any objects that have penetrated the scalp.
  • Shake the person.
  • Wash a deep or heavily bleeding wound.

When To Get Immediate Medical Attention

A head injury can result in severe complications, including brain bleeding and swelling. Knowing when to seek emergency medical care for yourself or another person can be life-saving.

Call 911 or get to the nearest emergency department right away if you have any of these "red flag" symptoms after a head injury:

  • An inability to move an arm or leg
  • Confusion, difficulty thinking, and unintelligible speech
  • Loss of consciousness for any amount of time
  • One pupil that is larger than another
  • Repeated vomiting
  • Seizure
  • Severe headache
  • Sudden drowsiness

See a healthcare provider right away if you have a high risk for complications from a head injury. It's best to get medical attention if you have uneasiness about sleep after any kind of head injury, even if it's relatively mild.

Minor head injuries and concussions will likely not require treatment other than rest. You'll need to monitor children and adults with a concussion and make sure they slowly return to normal activities.

A severe head injury may require more intensive treatment, including:

  • Medications: These may include anti-anxiety medications, anticoagulants to prevent blood clots, and muscle relaxants.
  • Rehabilitation therapy: You might work with a healthcare provider to treat cognitive, emotional, and physical difficulties that result from a head injury. This may include counseling to improve emotional well-being and physical therapy to restore balance and strength.
  • Surgery: A healthcare provider may need to perform surgery to decrease intracranial pressure, remove blood clots or hematomas, or repair skull fractures.

How To Care For a Head Injury at Home

People with a concussion or mild TBI feel better usually within a few weeks. It's important to slowly return to normal activities to help you recover.

Here are some things you can do at home to support the healing process, as well as things to avoid:

Preventing Head Injuries

You can help prevent injuries by:

  • Always wearing a seatbelt in a vehicle and a helmet when you are supposed to (e.g., when riding a bicycle, skiing, or skateboarding)
  • Avoiding risky behaviors (e.g., standing on chairs and climbing on countertops or ladders), especially when alone
  • Never drinking and driving
  • Keeping walkways clear in your home
  • Wearing protective gear while playing sports

A Quick Review

Head injuries can be as severe as a concussion, fractured skull, internal bleeding, and brain damage or as mild as a bump or bruise. A traumatic brain injury can result in severe complications, including death.

If you hit the back of your head, it's important to apply firm pressure to bleeding wounds, prevent movement, and stay completely still if you suspect a severe head injury. Minor head injuries and concussions will likely not require treatment other than rest.

Seek emergency medical care for yourself or another person if you exhibit any "red flag" symptoms, such as an inability to move, confusion, or repeated vomiting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most bumps, bruises, or cuts on the head are minor. Your head is likely OK after hitting it if you do not develop severe symptoms, including a severe headache, loss of consciousness, speech problems, and sudden drowsiness. A minor head injury can progress over time. It's important to keep an eye out for these symptoms.

Apply firm pressure to any bleeding wounds or swelling , and stay as still as possible after hitting your head. Call 911 if you suspect a severe head injury. You'll want to monitor children and adults for 12–24 hours after hitting their heads and watch for changes.

Treat a hit to the back of your head as any other head injury. Most trauma to the back of the head is minor, but you'll want to keep an eye out for changes. Call 911 if you develop worrisome symptoms or suspect a severe head injury.

The Exhausted Dad: Road trip time checks – a failed experiment

Image via Shutterstock

The Exhausted Dad

All four of my kids understand time.

Three of the four understand the concepts of time as much as any adult of normal intelligence … meaning they can easily follow the plotlines of “Back to the Future” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

Get them in a car for a family road trip, however, and the kids suddenly lose all ability to process the passage of time.

On Memorial Day weekend, my wife attempted a new strategy to curb the constant inquiries about our travel.

Before we left the driveway, she turned on her phone GPS and made the following announcement:

“I’m not going to answer questions about how much longer we have on our trip. I will ignore the question every time. Instead, every 15 minutes, I will tell you how much longer.”

Oof. I certainly didn’t want such frequent updates. Personally, I feel the freeway already includes too many signs about the distance to upcoming towns. I don’t need a sign that reads, “Spokane: 120 miles,” then ANOTHER sign nine minutes later stating, “Spokane: 110 miles.” I can do that math myself.

I guess I’d rather have the 15-minute update if it meant the kids didn’t keep asking every five minutes.

We made this trip even easier for them. Total driving time: Two-and-a-half hours. That’s the equivalent of one average length children’s movie plus approximately seven individual episodes of “Bluey.”*

*We didn’t actually bring any devices for them to watch on the road. “It’s a short trip,” we thought. Amateur mistake.

Then we made it even easier. We left the house at EXACTLY noon.

“We will be there in two-and-a-half-hours. That’s 2:30! 2:30 p.m.! When will we be there? Let’s say it together … TWO. THIRTY.”

One kid replied: “But what if we run into traffic?”

Another kid: “Or if we have to go to the bathroom?”

Me: “No more questions! Mom will make an announcement every 15 minutes.”

The first 15 minutes passed without incident. “Two hours and 15 minutes to go!” The kids responded positively.

About 10 minutes passed.

Kid: “How much longer do we have now?”

Response: “Remember, I will give an update every 15 minutes.”

Kid: “Hasn’t it already been 15 minutes?”

Response: “It hasn’t been 15 minutes.”

Kid: “I feel like it’s been more than 15 minutes.”

Once we reached the next 15-minute increment, my wife announced, “Two hours until we arrive at our destination!”

Kid: “See? You forgot the last announcement!”

Response: “No, we didn’t. The last one was two hours and 15 minutes, and now it’s two hours.”

Kid: “No. I remember! You didn’t tell us the last time!”

Response: “Yes, we did.”

Kid: “No you didn’t.”

Response: “Stop trying to gaslight us. We did!”

Kid: “You’re the one who is saying you did but you didn’t!”*

*These kids apparently understand the concept of gaslighting but can’t keep track of 15 minutes.

The commotion settled and, before long, my wife gave another update. “One hour, 45 minutes to go!”

Kid: “Wait, we only have an hour left to go?”

Response: “No. One hour and 45 minutes.”

Kid: “So not an hour?”

Response: “No.”

Kid: “So how much longer?”

You can guess how the rest of the trip went. The 15-minute update was a good idea. On paper, anyway.

Welcome to the WFH Friday economy: It's a time for hair masks, spas, day drinking, and no-camera meetings

  • Work-from-home Fridays are becoming popular among white-collar laptop workers.
  • Offices get fewer bookings on Fridays, and leisure businesses are seeing a Friday bump.
  • Some workers say they use the day to do spa treatments and eschew on-camera meetings.

Insider Today

For Hannah Kristin, the last day of the workweek has a new name: Hair Mask Friday.

Kristin, 25, started her career remotely after graduating in 2020. Now, she goes into her Chicago office Monday through Thursday — but never on Friday. It's sacred.

She often starts the day with a boutique fitness class or long morning walk, grabs coffee from a little shop near her apartment, and gets laundry started, all before the workday begins — things that would be far more difficult to do on days she needs to commute. A lot of the time, she has no video calls on Fridays, so she can put in a leave-in-conditioner hair mask to rejuvenate.

"I truly love going into my office Monday through Thursday," she said. "I think at my age it's really important to be in the office. It's a great way to make friends."

But the flexibility of work-from-home Fridays is a nice counterbalance to the bustle of in-office work.

"Being able to be remote is something I value so much just for that one day," she said.

Kristin is one of many white-collar workers contributing to the growing work-from-home Friday economy. As hybrid work has cemented for a certain segment of white-collar workers, Friday has become the de facto day for staying home, ongoing research from the Survey of Working Arrangements and Attitudes shows.

It's not great news for all businesses. Downtowns that rely on lunchtime food traffic have been forced to limit hours, cut staff, and, in some cases, shutter completely. Still, interviews with owners and managers of cafés, bars, gyms, and beauty salons suggest that businesses are seeing an uptick in earnings during Friday work hours nationwide. Plus, workers say the day is now "for the girls" — a time to unwind and let loose.

A break from work island

At Burly Coffee , a local coffee shop in New York City with two locations in Brooklyn, Fridays are "definitely the busiest day of the week," according to its co-owner Tom Colella.

Importantly, Burly is far from the epicenter of where most New Yorkers work: Manhattan, or, as it's known to some, " work island ."

"Wednesday is our slowest day. We have long hypothesized that Wednesday is the day with the most people commuting to work," Colella told BI.

Related stories

He appears to be right that office visits peak midweek and taper off on Fridays. Kadence, a management-software company for hybrid workplaces, found that in April, an average of 24% of total desk bookings at offices happened Tuesday through Thursday, 17% on Monday, and just 10% on Friday.

Whether they're technically working from the office or not, people seem to be out and about more on Fridays. Data shared with BI from Placer.ai , a foot-traffic analytics platform, shows that many chain businesses see more foot traffic on Fridays compared with the rest of the workweek — second only to Saturdays.

Friday was the most popular day for spa and salon appointments booked on ClassPass in 2023, according to data the company provided to BI. The top time for fitness classes on Fridays in 2023 was 12 p.m. — perhaps indicating a rush of lunchtime exercisers. The top time to hit the salon or spa was 5 p.m. on the dot.

Upticks in foot traffic at Starbucks, Sweetgreen, and Panera Bread shown by Placer.ai could suggest people are more frequently treating themselves to lunch or coffee out, working at coffee shops, or signing off earlier from work on Fridays.

Indeed, an ActivTrak analysis of 75,000 workers found that whether or not they were going into the office on Friday, they were signing off at about 4 p.m. that day, compared with 5 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.

Nicholas Bloom, a Stanford University economist who's a leading WFH researcher, told BI that was a shift from before the pandemic when every day "was pretty much the same." Sure, there were spurts of relaxed Fridays in manufacturing and Friday after-work drinking culture, but Bloom said since the 1990s, Fridays had been pretty much like every other day.

"And then from 2021 onwards, it started to become the WFH day. As a result, Thursday night is the new Friday night — the night to go drink with colleagues," Bloom said.

Michele Allard, a master hair colorist who owns Mint Bklyn Hair Studio , told BI that Fridays tended to book up more — and that clients would sometimes bring their laptops with them to appointments. Otherwise, they usually come in during their lunch hours.

"The workload seems less on Fridays," she said.

'The world is my oyster after 2 p.m. on a Friday'

Sara Daigle, 25, works both on-site and remotely for her merchandising role in Dallas. During the pandemic, her whole firm was completely remote; now, they're three days in and two days at home.

"Personally, I don't mind it, but driving in rush-hour traffic every day twice a day is just not my favorite thing," she said.

By contrast, Fridays are her favorite day; she works from home and still has a special pandemic perk — year-round summer Fridays. That means she's able to log off at 2 p.m. and enjoy more time for herself. Like other remote workers, that means a lot more spending for Daigle.

"Really, it's kind of like the world is my oyster after 2 p.m. on a Friday. If I were to look back at all of my credit-card statements, it would be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then nothing all week," she said.

Daigle also represents the next generation of workers, who may codify WFH Friday into a new standard. After all, she's part of the generation that graduated into pandemic WFH and never had to work in-office on Fridays.

"That very rigid regime of working, I think that's getting pushed out as everyone's getting older and moving up," she said. "Now, Gen Z people have been out in the workforce for four or five, six years now. Everyone's kind of either in a management position or on their way there." That goes hand-in-hand with a permanent WFH Friday and a more flexible schedule.

"Work-from-home Fridays are for the girls. That's my closing remark," Daigle said. "It's for the girls and for the happy hours."
