A passenger died Thursday when he went overboard on an MSC Cruises ship that was sailing through the deepest fjord in Norway — the second time in under three months somebody fell from the same vessel.

The man “in his late 50s” plunged from the MSC Euribia around 2 a.m. as the ship sailed through the Sognefjord, known as the King of the Fjords, the cruise company confirmed to The Post.

A rescue helicopter recovered his body from the 4,300-foot-deep waters about an hour later and flew him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances around the incident were not clear, but a police officer told Norwegian newspaper  Bergens Tidende that it is being investigated as a “suspicious death.”

“It could be an accident, a criminal act, or an intentional act,” he said.

The man, described as being “in his late 50s,” was reportedly traveling with his wife.

Cruise ship tracking data shows that the ship — a 19-story liner — turned around in the narrow channel shortly after the incident.

The ship is continuing on its seven-day journey despite the tragedy and is on track to return to Kiel as planned on Saturday, June 8.

“We are naturally deeply saddened by this, and our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this exceedingly difficult time,” an MSC spokesperson told The Post.

The incident marks the seventh time a person has gone overboard on an MSC cruise ship in less than seven months, according to Cruise Law News.

Liam Brody Wilkie Jones is presumed dead after vanishing from the very same MSC Euribia ship during a seven-day cruise around Europe in March.

He died just one month after a passenger plunged from the MSC Bellissima while it was traveling from Taiwan to Okinawa. That person survived.

The massive 213-foot tall Euribia can carry more than 8,000 people.

A ticket for the Norway cruise off which the man fatally plunged Tuesday costs roughly $700 per person, according to MSC’s website.

Onboard services prepaid before the cruise : you earn 100 points every 150 €/$ on expenses made before the cruise on MSC packages and services included in the cruise booked*.  Onboard expenses: you earn 100 points for every 150 €/$ spent on board, excluding casino expenses. Points for onboard expenses (including pre-boarding purchased shipboard credit) will only be assigned to the MSC Voyagers Club cardholder making the final payment.

*For currencies other than € euro, the currency conversion on purchase day will apply.

BONUS POINTS:

Starting from 28 July 2017, members also have the opportunity to collect bonus points. Members with an upcoming confirmed booking with MSC will receive 100 bonus points if they update or confirm their contact details (email, phone, address) up to 72 hours before sailing. Members can update or confirm the contact details in the MSC Voyagers Club online personal area or through the Web Check-in . 100 bonus points also apply to non-members with an upcoming confirmed booking with MSC who join the MSC Voyagers up to 72 hours before sailing.

I usually email MSCExistingReservations first.  Explaining what my situations were, and state nicely but firmly what I wish MSC would do.  So far, I've gotten everything I'd asked for from MSC.  Getting pricing errors corrected, discounts applied, and refunds.  MSC may take some time (longest was 3 weeks between my initial email to resolution, with weekly follow-up emails), but they did resolve my concerns.

I have 29 sr numbers since September. No resolution and that's on multiple issues.

I rebooked my January cruises and had a refund coming. I got it about 6 weeks later, which is reasonable. All the onboard bookings were automatically canceled and refunded immediately.

Refund of $150 for port fees and taxes was requested 5 months ago for a no show passenger. MSC gave me the same old song “2 billing cycles”. To date… no refund. The customer service at this cruise line is horrendous!

That just goes into them wanting us to subscribe for the paper.

But from the title, they are so far one month past the 16 months it took for us to get our fcc.

I cancelled my cruise 3 months ago.  Received most of the fare in 2 months.  Still waiting for the balance.

It took us over14 months to get our FCC from a cancelled 2020 cruise.  As Diamond members we were surprised by the delay. We went through (1) multiple phone conversations with agents, (2) many emails to MSCExistingReservations  (for which I received the initial auto response of how important my email was to MSC but never received any sort of follow up response), (3)  at least 5 "supposed" escalations to a supervisor, (4) the BBB (waste of time), and (5) our credit card company  (too late to file a complaint because it came too long after the initial purchase).  Finally, a kindly senior supervisor in the MSC central office took pity on us - or tired of our pestering - called us back and processed the credit.  We quickly applied it to a 2022 cruise.  Then, seven months later, we noticed that the price of that 2022 cruise had dropped significantly.  Since the final payment date was still months away, I called MSC to inquire about the possibility of any sort of adjustment and was given pricing information that differed from what was on the MSC website. I gave up.  Of course, we will take the booked cruise at the price we paid but are re-thinking future cruises on MSC.  That's too bad.  We truly love the MSC shipboard experience but our dealings with the central office since 2020 have been so exasperating that we've developed a negative attitude toward the company.  Gotta let it go...

Its not just MSC - Princess did not refund me for 14 months despite me ringing them and hounding them.  I think (and I know people who did) too many people took a refund and then applied for a credit from their credit card company.  I know personally someone who did this and got their $20,000+ refunded twice.  So ontop of a disastrous time for the cruise companies they are also suffering further financial losses through unscrupulous conduct of their clients.

We love MSC, and we're booked on the Seashore in May. That will be our last cruise with them. I'm so tired with trying to deal with the office. It just isn't worth it to me. I'll stick with RCCL, Celebrity, and princess. maybe give HAL a try. After 23 cruises, I don't need the B.S. from MSC.

MSC Launches Carioca: New Standalone Service Connecting Asia to South America East Coast

MSC is delighted to announce the launch of its new weekly service - Carioca - connecting Asia and South America East Coast.

It will provide additional coverage as well as increasing connectivity and frequency with Asia on this important trade lane, in addition to our existing Ipanema and Santana services.

In particular, the Carioca service will:

• Extend port coverage with the addition of Itapoa and Rio de Janeiro calls
• Better connect to Navegantes, Vitoria and River Plate region via Rio de Janeiro
• Increase sailing frequency from Korea and China to South Brazil (Santos and Paranagua)

The full rotation is as follows: Busan – Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Singapore – Rio de Janeiro – Paranagua – Itapoa – Santos – Itaguai – Colombo – Singapore – Busan

 The first sailing is due to depart from Busan on 19 July 2024 with MSC YOKOHAMA, voyage QI429A.
