95 most inspirational travel quotes ever penned
Our favourite inspirational travel quotes have encouraged us to travel with abandon over the years. Perhaps they will do the same for you…
For us, there is no such thing as luxury travel; travel is, by default, a luxury. It is a privilege provided by the country of our birth, a privilege that many are not as fortunate to enjoy.
Sometimes, we have to pinch ourselves at just how ridiculous our lives have become: an ex-teacher and jobbing writer travelling the world for a living. It is absurd, it is astonishing, it is luxury.
When I first went travelling at 21 years old, my father gave me this quote scrawled on a piece of card.
It infused me with wanderlust. It encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, make the most of my time, see the world and enjoy the freedom that comes with being on the road. It remains one of the most inspirational travel quotes I’ve read (even if Twain did not actually say it).
Today, 20 years and almost 100 countries later, it’s still in my wallet. Despite its tattered and dishevelled appearance, it’s every bit as important to me now as it was then.
With that in mind, we’ve collated our most beloved inspirational travel quotes to encourage readers to “explore, dream and discover” for themselves.

• Mark Twain Travel Quotes
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime.
To do something, say something, see something, before anybody else — these are the things that confer a pleasure compared with which other pleasures are tame and commonplace, other ecstasies cheap and trivial. Lifetimes of ecstasy crowded into a single moment.
It is the loveliest fleet of islands [ Hawaii ] that lies anchored in any ocean.
No alien land in all the world has any deep strong charm for me but that one [ Hawaii ], no other land could so longingly and so beseechingly haunt me, sleeping and waking, through half a lifetime, as that one has done. Other things leave me, but it abides; other things change, but it remains the same. For me the balmy airs are always blowing, its summer seas flashing in the sun; the pulsing of its surfbeat is in my ear; I can see its garlanded crags, its leaping cascades, its plumy palms drowsing by the shore, its remote summits floating like islands above the cloud wrack; I can feel the spirit of its wildland solitudes, I can hear the splash of its brooks; in my nostrils still lives the breath of flowers that perished twenty years ago.

Adventure is worthwhile in itself. — Amelia Earhart
If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it is lethal. — Paulo Coelho
Most of us abandoned the idea of a life full of adventure and travel sometime between puberty and our first job. Our dreams died under the dark weight of responsibility. Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. — Edward Abbey
Once a journey is designed, equipped, and put in process, a new factor enters and takes over. A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entity, different from all other journeys. It has personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Tour masters, schedules, reservations, brass-bound and inevitable, dash themselves to wreckage on the personality of the trip. It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any. — Hugh Laurie
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the Earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white. — Mark Jenkins
The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. — Christopher McCandless
Adventure is allowing the unexpected to happen to you. Exploration is experiencing what you have not experienced before. How can there be any adventure, any exploration, if you let somebody else – above all, a travel bureau – arrange everything before-hand? — Richard Aldington

Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. — Unknown
I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can’t read anything, you have only the most rudimentary sense of how things work, you can’t reliably cross a street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses. — Bill Bryson
The true fruit of travel is perhaps the feeling of being nearly everywhere at home. — Freya Stark
When you’ve managed to stumble directly into the heart of the unknown – either through the misdirection of others, or better yet, through your own creative ineptitude – there is no one there to hold your hand or tell you what to do. In those bad lost moments, in the times when we are advised not to panic, we own the unknown, and the world belongs to us. The child within has full reign. Few of us are ever so free. — Tim Cahill

Personally I like going places where I don’t speak the language, don’t know anybody, don’t know my way around and don’t have any delusions that I’m in control. Disoriented, even frightened, I feel alive, awake in ways I never am at home. — Michael Mewshaw

Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road. Healthy, free, the world before me. The long brown path before me leading me wherever I choose. — Walt Whitman
• Anthony Bourdain Travel Quotes
If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.
Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks — on your body or on your heart — are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.
It’s an irritating reality that many places and events defy description. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu , for instance, seem to demand silence, like a love affair you can never talk about. For a while after, you fumble for words, trying vainly to assemble a private narrative, an explanation, a comfortable way to frame where you’ve been and what’s happened. In the end, you’re just happy you were there — with your eyes open — and lived to see it.
Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown.
I’m a big believer in winging it. I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find the perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.
Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? … I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.
It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough – to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.
I think food, culture, people and landscape are all absolutely inseparable.
Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.
Southeast Asia has a real grip on me. From the very first time I went there, it was a fulfillment of my childhood fantasies of the way travel should be.
I wanted adventures. I wanted to go up the Nung river to the heart of darkness in Cambodia . I wanted to ride out into a desert on camelback, sand and dunes in every direction, eat whole roasted lamb with my fingers. I wanted to kick snow off my boots in a Mafiya nightclub in Russia. I wanted to play with automatic weapons in Phnom Penh, recapture the past in a small oyster village in France, step into a seedy neon-lit pulqueria in rural Mexico. I wanted to run roadblocks in the middle of the night, blowing past angry militia with a handful of hurled Marlboro packs, experience fear, excitement, wonder. I wanted kicks – the kind of melodramatic thrills and chills I’d yearned for since childhood, the kind of adventure I’d found as a little boy in the pages of my Tintin comic books. I wanted to see the world – and I wanted the world to be just like the movies.
At this point I think my body is like an old car. Another dent ain’t gonna make a whole lot of difference. At best it’s a reminder that you’re still alive and lucky as hell. Another tattoo, another thing you did, another place you’ve been.
Without experimentation, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, we shall surely become static, repetitive, and moribund.
If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.

Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow is my favourite. It’s so true
I love travel quotes. They are so inspirational. Since I’m a solo traveller, #35 really resonates with me.
This is a hard one! Which would my favorite be…? I’m between my compatriot Rosalia de Castro and the unknown “Live your life by a compass, not a clock”. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, quote number one hit differently! Pieces of my heart have been left in nearly every place I’ve ever visited, any place I’ve ever made a memory with new or old friends.
“I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.” I think that pretty much sums up why I’m driven to travel 😀 Great list!
Thanks for sharing these quotes! “Somewhere on your journey, don’t forget to turn around and enjoy the view.” is one that resonates with me most strongly. It is such an important reminder that sometimes when we’re traveling we need to put down our tour book and busy agenda and just stop to appreciate the new and exciting surroundings around us. Thanks for the reminder!
Absolutely! It’s easy to get swept up in all the “must sees” instead of what the destination is trying to show us!
Traveling is an adventure that comes with a breathtaking view is my favorite. Cant wait to travel again. Hope this pandemic ends soon
I completely love the first quote you mentioned!! I can see why you got it tattooed. After reading them all, the other one which stands out to me the most is the one about us being the foreigners!
So many beautiful quotes! I can’t wait to be able to travel again
Oh I just loved these quotes. Thanks for the great post!! I miss traveling so much!
Same here! Glad you enjoy them!
I love these! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
This is so inspirational! Love it!
Love these inspirational travel quotes! My favourite is number 11. It’s so true that a destination stays with you long after you leave it whether it’s a smell, a dish etc.
So many beautiful quotes! Love the positivity and inspiration during this crazy time we are in 🙂
So many great quotes, thanks for sharing. It reminds me of travel days.
This is a fantastic list of inspiring travel quotes! I’ve heard of most of them but also there a few that are new to me, so I really appreciate this! This one is one of my all time favorites –“Travel is not a reward for working, it’s education for living” – Anthony Bourdain
Thanks for including that one on this ultimate list!
Haha that’s my favorite reminder that work is just work. – Which (at least in America) is often forgotten.

101 of the Best Travel Quotes to Inspire Amazing Adventures
I’ve put together 101 of the best travel quotes as a reminder, motivation, and remembrance for the reasons why we travel.
I’m not just talking about the sightseeing and beach vacations. Travel is about the journey as much as the beautiful destination.
We learn about the world by experiencing new cultures and ways of living, in turn learning about ourselves.
I’ve been traveling the world for a few years – Will has been traveling for over 9 years – and the rest of the Broke Backpacker crew has put quite a dent in their passports too. I think these awesome quotes about traveling highlight some of the magnificent journeys and lessons we’ve experienced along the way.
Why? Because Travel quotes provide inspiration and capture truths about travel, adventure, and life.
Just like travel, words have the power to open our minds to completely new perspectives, which is why I hope this collection of quotes about travel and powerful words will inspire you to get out there and experience some adventurous travel yourself.
101 Best Travel Quotes
Some last words….
From funny travel quotes to inspiring words from legends past and present, here are the 101 best:
1. Travel makes you realize that no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn.” – Nyssa P. Chopra, The Cultureur

2. We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous
This is one of my favorite quotes about traveling. A lot of people think that one travels to escape life, or that long-term travelers are running away from reality. The way I see it – sure – maybe vacations are a quick escape from the real world, but traveling is a way to embrace life’s grandest adventures. Traveling is a way for life not to escape us.
3. “Travel doesn’t become adventure until you leave yourself behind.” – Marty Rubin

4. “To the tourist, travel is a means to an end; to the traveler, it’s an end in itself.” – Marty Rubin
5. “to live is to travel, on a voyage more epic than the odysseys of myth – not from place to place, but through the poignant strangeness of time.” – t.l rese.
6. “Travel often; Getting lost will help you find yourself.” – Holstee Manifesto
Some of my best travel experiences were not necessarily butterflies and rainbows. Sometimes they were uncomfortable and painful. Sometimes I have quite literally gotten lost, but in the end, these experiences have helped me find myself.
I think that is what traveling is often about: finding – or at least rediscovering – aspects of yourself.
7. “Travel has a way of stretching the mind. The stretch comes not from travel’s immediate rewards, the inevitable myriad new sights, smells and sounds, but with experiencing firsthand how others do differently what we believed to be the right and only way.” – Ralph Crawshaw
8. “a man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.” – george a. moore, 9. “sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.” – drake.
This is one of the most important travel quotes. Doesn’t matter how long you’re traveling for, you’ll see new cultures, open your mind and change your way of thinking – even if it’s just a little bit. Traveling shows us sides of the world but also about yourself that you’ve never seen before. Having a different view on things helped a lot of people when it comes to making hard decisions.
10. “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture are like a tree without roots.” – Marcus Garvey
11. Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comforts of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things. -air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky. -all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese
I love this traveling the world quote from Cesare Pavese. Having been on the road for the last few years, he nailed my experience spot on. Nothing is certain – except air, sleep, the sea, the sky – but that is what traveling is about: embracing the unknown and trusting the process. The way I see it, the only thing for certain is what is happening in the now.
12. “Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.” – Jawaharlal Nehru
13. “culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs.” – thomas wolfe, 14. “traveling — it gives you home in a thousand strange places, then leaves you a stranger in your own land.” – ibn battuta.
This is one of the most beautiful travel quotes. Meeting so many new people, making new friends and even finding a second family, has to be one of the best aspects of traveling. Having traveled quite a bit, I can say that having multiple homes is definitely an amazing feeling, although it can also create some distance between you and your original home.
15. “Culture is a way of coping with the world by defining it in detail.” – Malcolm Bradbury
16. “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”- Ibn Battuta
Probably one of the best travel quotes I’ve heard – the play on words, the sincerity, and the capture of what it means to travel. Traveling will undoubtedly leave you speechless, surprised, and lost for words, but those words will be found, and you will have epic stories to tell.
18. “To travel is to take a journey into yourself.” – Danny Kaye
19. “every journey is personal. every journey is spiritual. you can’t compare them, can’t replace, can’t repeat. you can bring back the memories but they only bring tears to your eyes.” – diana ambarsari, 20. “the perfect journey is never finished, the goal is always just across the next river, round the shoulder of the next mountain. there is always one more track to follow, one more mirage to explore.” – rosita forbes, 21. “travel can also be the spirit of adventure somewhat tamed, for those who desire to do something they are a bit afraid of.” – ella maillart.
22. “Remember that happiness is a way of travel – not a destination.” – Roy M. Goodman
I think this is one of my favorite quotes about travel. Having been to 30 or so countries, and plenty of destinations among them, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that happiness does not come from beautiful destinations any more than the concept that money can buy happiness…
It’s easy to assume that if money can’t buy happiness, surely experiences can, but you can be in the most beautiful place on earth having some crazy experience, and not be happy. We tend to always be in search of the next big thing – the most beautiful beach or bigger mountain – without realizing that it is the journey there that matters, not the destination.
Happiness is hard to define of course, but I think happiness lies in your outlook and present state of mind. To be happy is to be in the present moment, no matter what you own or where you are.
Wanna know how to pack like a pro? Well for a start you need the right gear….
These are packing cubes for the globetrotters and compression sacks for the real adventurers – these babies are a traveller’s best kept secret. They organise yo’ packing and minimise volume too so you can pack MORE.
Or, y’know… you can stick to just chucking it all in your backpack…
23. “What gives value to travel is fear. It breaks down a kind of inner structure we all have.” – Elizabeth Benedict
24. “we must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.” – john hope franklin, 25. “though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.” – ralph waldo emerson.
Walking on the globe with your head down will never open up all views and beautiful things to see. In order to enjoy traveling, you have to keep your mind and heart open, accept different cultures and traditions and simply try to adapt. Keep a positive mindset and you’ll see the beauty of the world.
26. “Real traveling is not about visiting places but about ‘re-visiting’ our inner-self.” – Sorrab Singha
27. “Travel not to find yourself, but to remember who you’ve been all along.” – Unknown
Both of these travel quotes (#26 and #27) encapsulate that sometimes we travel to learn more about ourselves. A large aspect of traveling is, of course, visiting places, but sometimes you end up visiting parts of yourself too.
28. “Travelling expands the mind rarely.” – Hans Christian Andersen
29. “traveling outgrows its motives. it soon proves sufficient in itself. you think you are making a trip, but soon it is making you – or unmaking you.” – nicolas bouvier, 30. it is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.” – ursula k. le guin, 31. “the best journeys are the ones that answer questions that at the outset you never even thought to ask.” – rick ridgeway.
32. “You thought too hard. Same with travel. You can’t work too much at it, or it feels like work. You have to surrender yourself to the chaos. To the accidents.” – Gayle Forman
This is one of my favorite travel quotes! It reminds me of something I read in the book Shantaram , about an ex-convict on the run and his adventures in India. In the book, he was given similar advice: to surrender to India and accept his experience for what it was.
You have to surrender to the chaos and enjoy/endure the experiences as they come. While this is applicable to many aspects of life, it is definitely applicable to travel. You can’t try to force itineraries and plans or work hard to fulfill some high expectations in your mind. Doing so will only tire and disappoint you.
Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.
It looks exactly like a normal belt except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)
33. “Traveling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, ‘I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.” – Lisa St. Aubin de Teran
34. “travel has a way of making the world a much smaller place.” – janna graber, 35. “life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.” – oliver goldsmith, 36. “focus on the journey, not the destination. joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” – greg anderson.
37. “Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection.” – Lawrence Durrell
I can relate to this quote about travel quite well actually. The longer and more that I travel, the more I find myself self-analyzing and observing my own thought and emotional processes.
Traveling has a funny way of throwing you out into the world with the intention of discovering more about everything around you, only to realize you will discover far more about yourself. It is why traveling can be the most rewarding form of introspection.
38. “You develop a sympathy for all human beings when you travel a lot.” – Shakuntala Devi
39. “once you have traveled, the voyage never ends but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. the mind can never break off from the journey.” – pat conroy, 40. “travel and change of place impart new vigour to the mind.” – seneca, 41. “a man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints.” – wilfred peterson.
42. “It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway
I can relate to these words quite a bit as I try to find the balance between preparing and planning for the future, reaching goals, and just enjoying the ride and staying present in the moment.
Having goals and an endpoint in sight is good; however, I don’t think it will be as satisfying if you don’t enjoy the moments that take you there. If you only focus on the destination you’ll miss everything that matters – the journey along the way.
43. “All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveller is unaware.” – Martin Buber
44. “life is a magical journey, so travel endlessly to unfold its profound and heart touching beauty.” – debasish mridha, 45. “good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.”- izaak walton.
Whether it’s long, annoying bus trips, a shabby hostel or simply somewhere you don’t necessarily feel comfortable, it’s always better to have great company by your side. Going through the rough times together makes the whole experience more endurable.
46. “The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to.” – Alain de Botton
47. “With age, comes wisdom. With travel, comes understanding.” – Sandra Lake
I love this quote about traveling. With age, comes wisdom. Wisdom isn’t something you can read about, it is something you learn through experience. The same goes for travel. You can read and hear about places and people that are different than you, but sometimes it takes experiencing those places and meeting those people for yourself to truly understand them.

48. “Travel teaches toleration.” – Benjamin Disraeli
49. “travel opens your mind as few other things do. it is its own form of hypnotism, and i am forever under its spell.” – libya bray, 50. “half of the fun of travel is the aesthetic of lostness.” – ray bradbury, 51. “travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education; in the elder, a part of the experience.” – francis bacon.
52. “Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain
Anthony Bourdain will always be remembered for his adventurous spirit and ability to share some of the most remote and fascinating corners of this planet with the rest of the world. His words ring true. Travel is not pretty, and it’s definitely not always comfortable.
Sometimes you’ll deal with awful buses and missed flights, sleep in strange places, be confronted with challenging and stressful situations, or encounter experiences that break your heart. But that’s okay because the journey will make you stronger, and ultimately make you a better person.
53. “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustav Flaubert
54. “it is always sad to leave a place to which one knows one will never return. such are the melancholies du voyage: perhaps they are one of the most rewarding things about traveling.” – gustave flaubert, 55. “all travel has its advantages. if the passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. and if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it.” – samuel johnson, 56. “uncertainty and anticipation are the joys of travel.” – ken hundert.
57. “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” – Dalai Lama
58. “investment in travel is an investment in yourself.” – matthew karsten.
Rather than investing in the latest technology, do yourself the favor and take yourself on a little trip. Clear your mind, learn new things and experience different cultures and people. You won’t regret it!
59. “Traveling carries with it the curse of being at home everywhere and yet nowhere, for wherever one is, some part of oneself remains on another continent.” – Margot Fonteyn
60. “certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – miriam beard, 61. “culture is the tacit agreement to let the means of subsistence disappear behind the purpose of existence. civilization is the subordination of the latter to the former.” – karl kraus.
62. “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
63. “travel expands the mind and fills the gap.” – sheda savage.
There are so many things to see and learn. The more you know, the more open your mindset and view will be. If you feel like you’re missing someone, invest in yourself and go on a trip to experience new things – you won’t regret it, we promise!

67. “Travel is not really about leaving our homes, but leaving our habits.” – Pico Iyer
68. “when you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. people don’t have your past to hold against you. no yesterdays on the road.” – william least heat moon, 69. “i soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, as it extends into the world around us, it goes an equal distance into the world within.” – lillian smith, 70. “for my part, i travel not to go anywhere but to go. i travel for travel’s sake. the great affair is to move.” – robert louis stevenson, 71. “conventional wisdom tells us… we take our baggage with us. i’m not so sure. travel, at its best, transforms us in ways that aren’t always apparent until we’re back home. sometimes we do leave our baggage behind, or, even better, it’s misrouted to cleveland and is never heard from again.” – eric weiner.
72. “The journey is part of the experience – an expression of the seriousness of one’s intent. One doesn’t take the A train to Mecca.” – Anthony Bourdain
73. “travel is like love, mostly because it’s a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. that is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.” – pico iyer, 74. “to my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – bill bryson, 75. “perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” – maya angelou, 76. “travel does what good novelists also do to the life of every day, placing it like a picture in a frame or a gem in its setting, so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of, giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art.” – freya stark.
77. “The true fruit of travel is perhaps the feeling of being nearly everywhere at home.” – Freya Stark
78. “you will, if you’re wise and know the art of travel, let yourself go on the stream of the unknown and accept whatever comes in the spirit in which the gods may offer it.” – freya stark, 79. “when you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. it is designed to make its own people comfortable.” – clifton fadiman.
This another one of the most important travel quotes, especially in nowadays time. When traveling, always keep your mind open, be respectful towards other people and try new things. Just because your believes, expectations and values work for you, doesn’t mean that it works for others too. Watch, experience and keep the critical thoughts to yourself if you don’t want to make enemies in a different country.

Travel Quotes by Famous People
Favorite travel quotes.
Inspiring travel quotes have certainly ignited our spirit of exploration and captured the essence of why we travel. For example,
- “A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles,” Tim Cahill reminds us that experiences and connections matter more than distances traveled.
- Another stirring quote is “Life is short, and the world is wide,” attributed to Simon Raven. It emphasizes our limited time to explore a vast world.
- The wisdom in St. Augustine’s words, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page,” encourages us to broaden our horizons through travel.
- John Steinbeck’s famous saying, “People don’t take trips, trips take people,” reflects the transformative power of travel.
- “Travel far, pay no fare… a book can take you anywhere,” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, suggests that even in the absence of physical travel, we can journey through the pages of a good book.
- “ A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving ” ~ Lao Tzu
Each of these travel quotes offers a unique perspective on the enriching experiences travel brings to life.
Feel free to pin, use as Instagram captions, download, and print these best travel quotes to put up these best travel quotes around your house for inspiration!
1. “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” ~ Saint Augustine
Let’s kick our list off with some of the more famous travel quotes by famous people. We’ll get to the more obscure as we go down the list.
This is definitely one of the best travel quotes of all time, but it certainly reads true. One of our favorite travel quotes is “The World is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.
When you travel, the whole world opens up. Travel has helped us to understand the meaning of life and it has helped us become better people. Each time we travel, we see the world with new eyes. Just like reading a book, when you travel, you experience more than only one page of life. Make your life a novel, not a page.
2. “Not all those who wander are lost” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
This is one of our favorite travel quotes because it gets us. Throughout our lives, people have thought that because we keep traveling and searching for new things to do, we are not focused.
They have often thought we were flaky or unfocused. But travel helped us find our purpose and put focus into our lives. The more we got lost in our travels, the richer our lives became.
Seriously people, not all those who wander are lost. That’s a statement and a quote.
So when you think that the travelers in your life are flighty, remember, “not all who wander are lost “
3. “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all” ~ Helen Keller
If Helen Keller can see life as a great adventure, what excuse do the rest of us have? Take a chance and live life to the fullest. When we are at our most daring, we feel the most fulfillment.
When we think of this travel quote, we live by it. Adventure is different for everyone, but we try to treat each day by doing something daring and adventurous; it keeps things exciting.
I wonder what she would think now, knowing that she is quoted as having one of the most popular travel quotes in the world.
4. “Take only memories, leave only footprints” ~ Chief Seattle
Chief Seattle had many inspiring quotes, but this is probably the most famous of all travel quotes, it is also a motto everyone should live by in life.
We need to give back to this world. People often feel they can take home a trophy, sneak a piece of stone from a historic site , or take something from nature.
Travel isn’t about taking, it is about absorbing the beauty of the world. So remember, sometimes only memories are all you need. They are your only private moments to enjoy. So try to take only memories.
5. “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts.” ~ Mark Twain
Travel opens our minds and heart and makes us better people—one of our favorite travel quotes by Mark Twain.
6. ” The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” ~ Marcel Proust
When thinking about travel quotes, we often look to the most popular ones, but these quotes really make me think. Sure, we can set sail to different lands, but until you change your mindset, you’ll never really immerse yourself in a voyage of discovery.
7. “Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” ~ Gustave Flaubert
Traveling quotes often mention the fact of how travel makes you humble and how life experiences are more important than accumulating things.
8. “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do” ~ H. Jackson Brown Jr.
This doesn’t necessarily need to be related to travel quotes it can work for life quotes too. It can be scary to try something new, take a chance, and step out of your comfort zone. But when looking back on life, it’s the chances you didn’t take that you’ll regret.
9. Never go on trips with anyone you do not love.” ~ Hemmingway
As a travel couple, this is one of those travel quotes that is close to our hearts. We love traveling together and couldn’t imagine doing it alone.
10. “Like all great travellers, I have seen more than I remember and remember more than I have seen.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli
This is one of those travel quotes that sum up a traveler perfectly. Over the years, our memories of our travels change and our stories become larger than life. Not only do we forget the bad and remember only the good, but the senses stick with us.
11. “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta
Before we started traveling in 2000, I only dreamed of writing for a living. But after our travels, I was so moved by many of our experiences I started writing stories to my friends and family.
When we first set off to begin our travel blog, a friend shared the works and travel quotes of Ibn Battuta with me it was through these early recommendations inspired me to become a storyteller.
No best travel quotes list would be complete without adventure quotes. Travel is an adventure and they go hand in hand. These are some of our favorite quotes about the adventure that we’ve collected over the years.
12. “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it’s lethal” ~ Paul Coelho
Travel quotes about adventure are our favorite because we are always pushing our boundaries and when we’re feeling a little afraid or lazy, we always think of this quote. Plus, I like this much better than his other quote: “Travel is never a matter of money but of courage.”
13. “Great things never came from comfort zones.” ~ Anonymous
It’s true! Of all the travel quotes in this list, I really feel that this one rings true to life. Even if you are not traveling, you need to step out of your comfort zone.
Whether you’re taking on a new project, opening a business, or enrolling in a course, when you do something that scares you a little, you can do something great.
14. “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” ~ Maya Angelou
When looking for travel quotes about adventure travel, this one really stuck out by Maya Angelou. It wasn’t until we started to live a life less ordinary that we understood how much control we had over our lives and just how amazing we could make it.
15. “Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and enjoy the journey” ~ Babs Hoffman
This doesn’t have to a quote on travel alone. Life itself has a lot of potholes. Whether you are traveling or at home working at your job, you should definitely enjoy the journey.
16. “Fear is only temporary. Regrets last forever.”
Are you wanting to travel the world but are afraid to take the next step? The travel quote above says it all. Fear is only temporary , but if you don’t follow your dream, you may regret it forever.
We are not saying to follow travel quotes like this blindly. Don’t put yourself in dangerous situations, but don’t let being afraid of the unknown consume you either.
17. “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
This is one of my favorite travel quotes on adventure travel. It’s scary to step out of your comfort zone, but if you do so with proper training and guidance, a whole new life will begin!
18. “Travel doesn’t become adventure until you leave yourself behind”
Well to me this quote means you have to leave your burdens, your stress, and your preconceived notions behind. To understand travel, you must be open to new possibilities and it will change your life.
19. “Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you. ~ David McCullough
This is one of those quotes about travel that has never rung truer than in today’s society. Everyone is traveling to show off and brag or catch a selfie rather than to have an experience. But its the experience that you’ll remember, not the social share.
20. “Jobs fill your pocket but adventures fill your soul.” ~ Jamie Lyn Beatty
It’s true, we all have to do our job and have our careers. And that is important we need to make money to be able to live. But it is also important to take time to smell the roses and let go of work when you are not in the office.
We have always looked at our lives this way, jobs fill your pocket so that you can spend your down time having a great adventure. Be it travel or at home, life begins outside the office.
I love funny travel quotes. Sometimes when we get stressed out or frustrated with travel, we need to sit back and laugh about the little things.
21. “Don’t worry about the world ending today, it’s already tomorrow in Australia.” ~ Charles M. Schulz
We all have worries every day and more than ever the state of the world is in question. But travel makes you forget your troubles and Charles Schulz couldn’t have said it better. It’s the funniest of travel quotes.
22. “I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate people than to travel with them.” ~ Mark Twain
We have always given the advice that if you want to test to see if you are compatible in your relationship, go and travel together for a while.
Mark Twain could not be more correct. If you can travel with someone you’ll be friends for life! So put these travel quotes to the test and travel with someone right now!
23. “A Journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you can control it. ” ~ John Steinbeck
When traveling, things are often out of our control and we have found that it is better to relax and let go. And that is true for our marriage as well. We can’t always be in control and that is half the fun!
24. “Drink Heavily with locals whenever possible.” ~ Anthony Bourdain
This is a rather funny travel quote by Anthony Bourdain, but it is also very true. Some of our best travel experiences have been when having a few drinks with the locals.
So when we are out late at night, we look to these types of travel quotes for justification. hah!
25. “I told the doctor I broke my leg in two places. He told me to quit going to those places” ~ Henny Youngman
This quote reminds me of my dad. He’s always telling silly jokes like this and I love it!
26. “There is nothing safer than flying, it’s the crashing that’s dangerous.” ~ Theo Cowa
For those of you who are afraid to fly, I am afraid that you are not going to find the humor in this travel quote, but I find it quite cheeky.
27. “I always like to go to Washington D.C. It gives me a chance to visit my money.” ~ Bob Hope
This one made me chuckle because we were just in Ottawa (Canada’s National Capital) and we made a point of saying “ Now we know where our taxes go, look at all the beautiful museums and buildings in this city! ”
And even though Bob Hope was talking about his home country of the USA, it certainly rings true anywhere. So, we put it in our best travel quotes list, because everyone can relate!
28. “Jet Lag is for Amateurs.” ~ Dick Clark
While I think it’s a funny travel quote, I tend to disagree with Dick Clark. It seems that the more I travel, the worse jet lag gets. But then I suck it up and think of him and then I say “Deal with it Deb, Jet Lag is for amateurs.” See, travel quotes can be motivating!
29. “Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.” ~ Paul Theroux
I love this travel quote so much because it is very true. When we come home from our travels, we always forget the tough times and difficult experiences.
We only remember the beautiful things about our travels and the bad stuff fades away. But let me tell you, we’ve had some very unglamorous travels in our lives.
30. “I wish I had never gone traveling.” Said no one ever.
I don’t know who said this travel quote, but it is straightforward and to the point. If you are looking for travel quotes that capture the feeling of travel, this is it!
Inspirational Quotes About Travel
Inspirational travel quotes can be life-changing. I used to have quotes taped all over my house and now that we have moved into a house again, I’m collecting inspiring quotes about life and adventure. Words have meaning and can change mindsets.
31. “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” ~Andre Gide
I am going to update this quote though and say Woman and Man Cannot discover new oceans until they lose sight of the shore.
When Dave and I first started our careers in travel, we kept one toe in our careers and one toe in travel. It wasn’t until we finally let go of our safe life in the film industry and took a chance to go all into our new adventure travel careers that everything changed.
32. “It’s Better to Travel Well than to Arrive” ~ Buddha
33. “it is not the destination where you end up but the mishaps and memories you create along the way.” ~ penelope riley.
We all make mistakes in life and travel. Travel quotes can be relatable in life as well. And it really is the mishaps and adventures you have along the road of life and travel that make for everlasting memories.
34. “The important thing is to never stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing” ~ Albert Einstein
35. “travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”.
Okay so maybe it isn’t exactly the truest of travel quotes because if you buy a house, it may grow in value and if you buy stocks, you may get lucky and hit the jackpot, but you can never go wrong with travel.
But travel brings riches in life with experiences, learning, and making new friends.
36. “I would rather own a little and see the world than own the world and see a little of it.” ~ Alexander Sattler
Quotes about traveling often have a message of being free from possessions and things, and instead of having life experiences instead. It think this travel quote says it the best.
37. “It is better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.”
When we saw the Taj Mahal for the first time, we had heard about it many times. We had read about it and people had told us all about it. But it wasn’t until we saw it that we really understand its beauty and meaning.
38. Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow
We agree with this travel quote indeed. Travel changes a person and it is because of the people you meet and the experiences you have. It is true that you take a piece of a place home with you.
39. “When was the last time you did something for the first time.” ~ Anonymous
We have found that travel gives us the courage to try new things. When we are home in our routine, we become comfortable. But when we travel, we are inspired by others and inspired by the destination.
40. “Someday I’m going to be free and I’m going to travel the world.”
Before we started traveling full time we felt trapped. When we started putting our minds to living a life of travel, we felt the barriers break and soon we were living our dream. This quote is very close to our hearts.
41. “You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one.” ~ John Lennon
Travel brings people together. It helps people understand other cultures and religions. What we think we know about other places is thrown out the window, once we land on their soil.
So get out there, meet other people and you’ll soon see that people around the world are just like you and me.
Short Travel Quotes Captions
Dave and I have been gathering quotes about travel for 20 years and shared them since we started our travel blog in 2008. They have always helped to pick us up when we’re down, put life in perspective, or just brought a smile to our faces.
These are our favorite traveling quotes we’ve posted on social media from Twitter to Pinterest .
42. “Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets” ~ Oscar Wilde
For life and travel, we all must follow our path without making excuses and we should never live with regrets.
43. “We travel not to escape life but for life not to escape us.”
Many people think traveling quotes are all about people escaping and dreaming. But to us, this quote captures exactly the essence of travel. We never traveled to escape life, we always traveled to find ourselves.
44. “People don’t take trips, trips take people.” ~ John Steinbeck
We all take trips, but most of the time the trip ends up taking a life of its own.
45. “Don’t listen to what they say, go see” ~ Chinese Proverb
Perhaps people tell you not to go to a place because they think it is awful when it is really beautiful. Or perhaps someone constantly tells you how wonderful a destination is.
Go and see for yourself and make up your own mind. That’s what this says to me.
46. “Don’t Quit Your Day Dream”
One of my favorite quotes about wanderlust. One of the things Dave and I are most thankful for is the fact that we never stopped dreaming.
If we settled (like we were supposed to in life) we’d still be working at our jobs thinking we weren’t allowed to have dreams once we reached a certain age. Never stop dreaming.
47. “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way”
Isn’t this just the dream? I love it when I take a trip and clearly do not have a plan. That is when the real adventures happened in our travels.
48. “Oh, the places you’ll go.” ~ Dr Seuss
It’s a short one, but oh it’s a good one. Whenever we meet someone that is starting to travel or is thinking of traveling, we always think of this quote by Dr. Suess.
These words make us think of adventure. Oh the Places You’ll Go! Doesn’t this make you excited to get out and explore thw world?
49. “Try to Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud” ~ Maya Angelou
50. “life’s a journey, not a destination” ~aerosmith.
Okay so maybe Ralph Waldo Emerson deserves the credit for Life is a journey, not a destination, but we heard it first through Aerosmith, so I’m giving it to Aerosmith. Because I couldn’t find the proof anyway.
I’ll never forget being in Vietnam in 2003 and while sitting in a bar, they encouraged travelers to write their favorite quotes on its wall.
What did Dave choose? Life’s a journey, not a destination naturally. We have always lived by this motto and of course adventure is for everyone.
51. “Where to next?”
“Where will you travel next? How will travel change you and how will you change the world?”
52. “To Travel is to Live” ~ Hans Christian Anderson
Why does this travel quote resonate so much with us? Before we traveled, we felt that we never truly lived. The more we worked, the more exhausted and disconnected we felt. When we introduced travel into our lives, we felt alive again.
53. “I want to make memories all over the world”
To us, memories mean more than things. When we are out with friends, we have so much to talk about. It’s way more meaningful to have a memory to share than to show off a “thing.”
Meaningful Quotes About Travel
54. “whenever you find yourself on the side of majority, it’s time to pause and reflect.” ~ mark twain.
Mark Twain is one of the greats when it comes to creating famous quotes about travel. We have always tried to live a life less ordinary and think outside the box. I do believe this has helped us have success in our business and our relationship.
55. “The world is changed by your example, not your opinion.” ~ Paul Coelho
I think in today’s society this travel quote couldn’t be truer. Many people are quick to attack others through social media and everyone has an opinion.
But what about “being the change?” Positive leadership can be powerful.
56. “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.” ~ Aldous Huxley
We often have preconceived notions of what other countries are like. But once we visit a destination, we realize that we have it all wrong.
Travel helps us to understand and learn about different cultures and ways of life. We always encourage people to visit other countries to understand the people and cultures around the world.
It’s impossible to truly understand a place until you have met the people, and immersed in the culture.
57. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~ Gandhi
Travel often opens our eyes to different ways of thinking and understanding the world. We as travel bloggers love to preach what we have learned to the world, but we also need to live by example.
58. “There’s a sunrise and sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.”
59. “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
I’ll never forget saying to Dave “I need meaning to my travels” when we first started traveling. It was by creating this blog, creating our videos, and creating our purpose to share our experience that I finally created myself.
60. “If your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it.” ~ Johnathan Winters
This is certainly one of the best motivational quotes that have to do with travel.
I often hear people complaining that they can never catch a break. But you know what? You can’t wait for things to happen, you have to make them happen.
61. “Without new experiences, something inside us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken.”
Travel can awaken the giant within. It did for us!
62. “Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it.” ~ Rick Watson
Don’t get lost in the crowd. Be an individual. Think big and be brave. Stand out and live life to the fullest.
63. “Doing what you like is freedom, liking what you do is happiness.”
All my life, I worked hard and dreamed of what I might do one day when I retire. Once I learned that doing what you love is happiness. We don’t have to dream about what might be one day.
64. “Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.”
Do you ever just stop and take a breath and look around? I am amazed at the little things. Too many of us wait until we are abroad to appreciate life and nature. Get out there now and start living today. From home!
65. “This heart of mine was made to travel this world”
Dave and I feel that our hearts were truly made to travel the world. Even when we worked in the film industry, we were always planning our next trip.
66. “The Impulse to Travel is one of the hopeful symptoms of life”
It’s true. Whenever we have an upcoming trip, we always feel hopeful.
67. “Let’s find some beautiful place to get lost”
Do you get lost when you travel? Or are you a planner? Here, the anonymous traveler quotes an idea to go with the flow, just the way we like it.
68. “I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.” ~ John Green
69. “Travel…the best way to be lost and found at the same time.” ~ Brenna Smith
71. “The journey is my home.”
Dave and I were on the road for seven solid years. We didn’t have a home. People often said to us that they couldn’t imagine not having a home base, but we felt at home on the road. We actually felt more at home on the road than at home.
Unique Travel Quotes
Not all of the best travel quotes are famous. We have dug deep down the rabbit hole of quotes to find some of the more unique quotes about travel out there. Enjoy!
71. “It’s a big world out there, it would be a shame not to experience it.”
We got this traveling quote from our friend JD of EarthXplorer. Well said JD! There is no better piece of advice. I wish my niece and nephews listened to me when I told them this.
72. “You can shake the sand from your shoes, but not from your soul.”
Whenever I read this quotation on travel, I always think of the singer Dido. Do you know that song ? “I’ve still got sand in my shoes and I can’t shake the thought of you.” When traveling to islands and beaches , this one always pops into my mind.
73. “Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think of what could go right.” ~ Anonymous
Over the years we have had many people ask us, “how did we have the courage to do what we do.” Truthfully, we never thought too much about what could go wrong.
When we knew we wanted to cycle Africa or climb a mountain, we didn’t focus on what could go wrong, instead, we focused on the excitement and challenges ahead. So we recommend using this travel quote to help you overcome the “what ifs in life.”
74. “We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment.” ~ Hilaire Belloc
When we first started traveling, people thought we were running away from things. But in truth, we were finding ourselves and we ran right toward our purpose in life. We have never felt so fulfilled as when we do when we’re traveling.
75. “It doesn’t matter where you’re going, it’s who you have beside you.”
We love traveling together and this is our favorite of all couple travel quotes. While we admire solo travelers we are so grateful to having someone to share special moments together.
76. “Traveling is not something you’re good at. It’s something you do, like breathing.” ~ Gayle Foreman
People often say to us “Oh, you must be such great travelers!” and we say, It’s not about being good at something, it is about enjoying what you do. If you enjoyed your travels and if you have a good time, you did a good job!
77. “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
As we get older, we have developed a deeper appreciation of the time we have on earth. After spending many years doing something we did NOT love, we realized that time goes by quickly and we have to make the most of our time.
Now that we have a passion for our careers and adventures, we understand even more how true this quote is.
78. “It feels good to be lost in the right direction.”
Dave and I often get lost when traveling and it is usually the times that we take a wrong turn that we have our greatest adventures.
Getting lost is part of the fun of travel, so don’t over plan too much when planning your travels.
79. “Traveling allows you to become so many different versions of yourself.”
When we started traveling we discovered so many new things about ourselves and each other.
By stepping out of our comfort zone and trying new things, travel helped us become better people and this quote is definitely true for us.
80. “Travel has a way of stretching the mind.” ~ Ralph Crawshaw
Travel expands the mind and without having to study or read books or take a course. We learn and grow without even trying when we travel.
81. “Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe.” ~ Anotole France
Wow, this is certainly one of those deep travel quotes. But it is true! Humans are connected to the universe, when we get out and really travel, we feel that connection stronger.
82. “All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”
How many times have you gone traveling and thought that you have it all planned out? But it’s the surprises and secret destinations along the way that really stick with you for the rest of your life.
83. “A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.” ~ Tim Cayhill
People really do make the journey. We may only meet someone for a fleeting moment, but they often stay in our memories forever.
84. “Just Go. Go See all the Beauty in the World”
Each day we are grateful that we get to live in this beautiful world.
Not only is the earth’s scenery awe-inspiring, but there is a beauty in the people, culture, and wildlife that we have experienced.
I love hearing travel quotes from my favorite celebrities and people in history. Check these ones out and see what you think.
85. “I travel not to go anywhere but to go. I travel for travel’s sake.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
We just love to travel. It doesn’t matter where. No matter where we go, we always learn something new.
86. “If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them — wherever you go.” ~ Anthony Bourdain
87. “because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in an office or mowing your lawn. climb that damn mountain.” ~ jack kerouak.

89. You go away for a long time and return a different person – you never come all the way back ~ Paul Theroux
90. “you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” ~ mae west.
Ah, Mae West. I can just hear her saying this quote in that fabulous accent. I am sure she wasn’t talking about travel, but we can make anything related to travel quotes.
91. “Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” ~ Robert Frost
Robert Frost said it best, if you take the road less traveled in life, you will probably see success. And when it comes to travel, you can find something amazing if you go off the beaten path.

96. “There is no moment of delight in any pilgrimage like the beginning of it” ~ Charles Dudley Warner
My favorite part of traveling is the anticipation. This captures that perfectly.
97. “The most beautiful in the world is, of course, the world itself.” – Wallace Stevens
98. “keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you.” ~ walt whitman.
I have found that travel has helped me become an optimist. The more experiences I have, the more positive my life becomes.
99. “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” ~ Maya Angelou
100. “perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” ~ maya angelou, 101. “the biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.” ~ oprah winfrey.
It was Oprah Winfrey that got us hooked on inspiring quotes so how could we not finish off our best travel quotes list with words of wisdom by the Grand Dame of Show Biz, inspiration, and philanthropy? And it is definitely a great way to end.
Bonus Travel Quotes
And we leave you with not the most inspirational travel quote, but this one is practical for travel.
“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money” – Susan Heller .
Not truer words have been said about packing. The best way to travel is to travel light. You can always buy something if you forgot it or need it, but seriously, chances are you probably won’t.
You’ll be surprised just how few clothes and accessories you’ll need to travel. So when packing for your next trip remember… When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.
Of the gladdest moments in human life, methinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. ~ Sir Richard Burton
It’s becoming more difficult to find unknown lands as the world shrinks in the age of Instagram and TikTok. But it is still possible, so start searching for those unknown lands today.
And I think to myself, what a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
And we leave you with the wise words of Louis Armstrong. Seriously, do you ever just think to yourself, what a wonderful world? We do.
When we took our first travels in 2000, we felt a huge change in ourselves. Our lives were never the same. We never came all the way back, we have left a piece of ourselves around the world and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Travel far, travel wide, and let your soul be your guide.”
Fantastic collection of travel quotes! Every single word goes well with the picture they’re pasted over. It is tough to say which one is the best travel quote.
Hi Dave and Deb,
I absolutely loved your article about the ultimate travel quotes! As someone who is always on the lookout for inspiration to travel, reading through these quotes made me feel excited and motivated to plan my next adventure. I especially loved the quote by Ibn Battuta that says “Traveling—it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” It perfectly captures the transformative power of travel and how it can change us in so many positive ways.
Overall, your article was beautifully written and showcased a diverse range of travel quotes that were both inspiring and thought-provoking.

Wonderful collection
I was hoping the pandemic will end up so I can free travel again for adventure. Thanks a lot for sharing your collection qoutes.
Thanks for the travel quotes. I’m going to save some and print them out. My favorite is like a lot of people here. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. This year has proven that. We can’t sit around all day and be happy. Let’s make it an adventure.
My choices for the best travel quotes are: Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all Travel makes one modest you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page
Great travel quotes, although I don’t get this one… The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. Does travel give you new eyes or do you have to have your eyes open before traveling? Hmm, things to think about.
These really are inspirational travel quotes. I love this one by Anthony Bourdain. “Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”
These are the best travel quotes I’ve seen! What a list! And thank you for the pictures. This phrase “Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” Really puts it all into perspective. When you travel (really travel, not as a tourist) you understand that you are not the center of the universe. And I agree travel really does make you richer. Thanks
Wow! What a list of inspirational travel quotes. I’m going to print these off to get motivated and start saving for travels. Here’s to traveling the world! My favourites are Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore But I agree with you, it should be “people”
Thanks for the inspiration with these travel quotes. I am looking forward to traveling again!

These are beautiful words to live by. Experience life and adventure.
Loved it: “KEEP YOUR FACE ALWAYS TOWARD THE SUNSHINE – AND SHADOWS WILL FALL BEHIND YOU.”
Congrats on the article and keep it updated! Love the one of: “Travel…the best way to be lost and found at the same time.” Travel is a mix of feeling with sometimes the fear of get lose but feeling free at the same time.

Thanks! We actually had these travel quotes in a vault for years before finally posting them into one article. We used to share daily travel quotes on Instagram and Twitter and then a few years ago we decided that one comprehensive post would be a better idea. So we rounded them up and put them in. JACKSON BROWN JR
Those are fantastic! My favourite is “I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THERE AIN’T NO SURER WAY TO FIND OUT WHETHER YOU LIKE PEOPLE OR HATE THEM THAN TO TRAVEL WITH THEM.” ~ MARK TWAIN” We have found this out first hand in our travels and there is no truer travel quote 😀
Didn’t see this one above but it’s one of my favorites and from a very well traveled Nat Geo photographer:
“Ibn Battuta never dwells on what drove him on.
Curiosity? Perhaps . . . More likely it was a quest for knowledge.
One never seduced by a foreign culture cannot appreciate the fetters of his own. Life, after all, is a journey – a voyage of discovery.
Why not take the high road?”
Thomas Abercrombie, National Geographic
Thanks for sharing, that’s a great message. I love finding new words of wisdom.
travel makes your mind opened wider than before dudes. so, let’s go to explore

Ryan is an avid bucket lister. Travel, photography, blogging and adventure are some of his hobbies. He once went on a trip to Spain and was robbed of all his stuff except his clothes. No money, no insurance, no identification and no way to contact family and friends from back home. Did he end his trip? No way! He ended up running with the bulls in Pamplona the very next day.

Long Term Travel as a Couple: Does it Hurt or Strengthen Relationships?
Paul Heller has been a lifelong avid traveler and language learner and teacher, Even as a child, he told Santa Claus that he wanted to visit all the children worldwide. At seven years old, Paul wanted to retire to Mexico. At eight, he memorized the name, capital, location, and some facts about every country worldwide. At twelve, he found a book "Lonely Planet: Southeast Asia on a Shoestring" and started developing his own itinerary for a future round-the-world trip. He remained obsessed with travel; after getting a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and working as an administrator, He spent his vacations going to different countries around the globe studying language, touring, and volunteering. In 1994, he quit his job and lived in Russia as a volunteer English instructor. He discovered that he loved teaching languages. In 2004, he decided to make a living out of his travels and founded a community of people who love to travel just like him. He developed 5 three-hour classes about living and traveling long-term worldwide which he taught in over 50 adult education programs throughout the US. After his parents passed, he realized his dream of traveling around the world; cruising and touring some of the most remote places like the North Atlantic, Patagonia, and Oceania; and learning new languages (he knows Spanish, Italian, French, and Russian). Paul encourages everyone to learn foreign languages. He knows that it can be frustrating and slow but that anyone can learn a language if they put in the work and, most importantly, learning a language is well worth the time and effort because it opens up a whole new set of people, ideas, and cultures. He is currently spending the next chapter of his life in Mérida, México. He is excited about using this blog and his classes and workshops to inspire and equip fellow Fifty Plus Nomads with the language, cultural, and psychological skills necessary to be successful and happy long-term travelers and expats over 50.

Travel Quotes To Inspire Your Next Big Journey
T ravel is one of the only things that make it worth it. Whether you’re traveling for a business event, a honeymoon, or even for a birthday like us next month! There’s always many exciting reasons to look forward to traveling and experiencing what life if all about. Once in a while on this blog, we like to provide you with inspirational travel quotes for instagram to fulfil your next journey. Let’s get into it shall we friends?
This is something that we need to all realize. There is a big misconception amongst people who travel less that travelling is an arm and a leg. This pretty much implies that travel is not affordable unless you are wealthy. As somebody who never started with wealth to travel, this is far from the truth babe! Budgeting, payment plans and travel points are big ways that allow people to travel and live their best lives for less. It takes some learning, but regardless, anyone on this planet can travel without being rich. No matter what their bank account is looking like.
Can we get a Amen? Many travelers regret not traveling when they were younger according to an article on nextbigdeal.com, Dick Costolo, former CEO of Twitter, expressed his regret of not spending a year outside the US before attending college. He believed that experiencing a year abroad, anywhere in the world, provides a valuable perspective on life. Brad Feld, a venture capitalist, emphasized the importance of global travel, stating that there is often insufficient exposure to different cultures and countries.
We touched on the majority of this quote in quote #1, and regarding courage, that is all that travel is made of. Taking that hike to Banff mountains, Booking that jungle swing experience in Bali , etc. All of these things are a matter of courage because you’re escaping the ordinary when you explore the world. You’re also choosing to ignore any negativity if you’ve heard anything before visiting a destination or booking an experience.
This quote is only one sentence, yet it carries a lot of meaning. This quote is for those who desire to always be abroad, always be on the road, and always be out and about. This quote also tells us what the meaning of wanderlust is, having that burning desire to wander. It’s the whole world against your passport, waiting for its next stamp.
If you think about it, the world is a book. The world is a place with many different cultures and exploring them can broaden our understanding and appreciation for the diversity that exists within it. Another destination is another place off your bucket list, or another page flipped in your book. That is why this quote by Saint Augustine gives true meaning.
If you enjoyed any of these quotes, feel free to comment and let us know which one was your favourite. If you’re seeking inspiration for your next adventure, these travel quotes are perfect for igniting that wanderlust and fueling your desire to explore new horizons. Share these travel quotes for Instagram on Instagram or wherever to inspire your followers to embark on their own journeys of discovery and adventure.

The state of tourism and hospitality 2024
Tourism and hospitality are on a journey of disruption. Shifting source markets and destinations, growing demand for experiential and luxury travel, and innovative business strategies are all combining to dramatically alter the industry landscape. Given this momentous change, it’s important for stakeholders to consider and strategize on four major themes:
- The bulk of travel is close to home. Although international travel might draw headlines, stakeholders shouldn’t neglect the big opportunities in their backyards. Domestic travel still represents the bulk of travel spending, and intraregional tourism is on the rise.
- Consumers increasingly prioritize travel—when it’s on their own terms. Interest in travel is booming, but travelers are no longer content with a one-size-fits-all experience. Individual personalization might not always be practical, but savvy industry players can use segmentation and hypothesis-driven testing to improve their value propositions. Those that fail to articulate target customer segments and adapt their offerings accordingly risk getting left behind.
- The face of luxury travel is changing. Demand for luxury tourism and hospitality is expected to grow faster than any other travel segment today—particularly in Asia. It’s crucial to understand that luxury travelers don’t make up a monolith. Segmenting by age, nationality, and net worth can reveal varied and evolving preferences and behaviors.
- As tourism grows, destinations will need to prepare to mitigate overcrowding. Destinations need to be ready to handle the large tourist flows of tomorrow. Now is the time for stakeholders to plan, develop, and invest in mitigation strategies. Equipped with accurate assessments of carrying capacities and enhanced abilities to gather and analyze data, destinations can improve their transportation and infrastructure, build tourism-ready workforces, and preserve their natural and cultural heritages.
Now boarding: Faces, places, and trends shaping tourism in 2024
Global travel is back and buzzing. The amount of travel fell by 75 percent in 2020; however, travel is on its way to a full recovery by the end of 2024. More regional trips, an emerging population of new travelers, and a fresh set of destinations are powering steady spending in tourism.
There’s no doubt that people still love to travel and will continue to seek new experiences in new places. But where will travelers come from, and where will they go?
We share a snapshot of current traveler flows, along with estimates for growth through 2030.
The way we travel now
Which trends are shaping traveler sentiment now? What sorts of journeys do today’s travelers dream about? How much are they willing to spend on their trips? And what should industry stakeholders do to adapt to the traveler psychology of the moment?
To gauge what’s on the minds of present-day travelers, we surveyed more than 5,000 of them. The findings reveal disparate desires, generational divides, and a newly emerging set of traveler archetypes.
Updating perceptions about today’s luxury traveler
Demand for luxury tourism and hospitality is expected to grow faster than for any other segment. This growth is being powered in part by a large and expanding base of aspiring luxury travelers with net worths between $100,000 and $1 million, many of whom are younger and increasingly willing to spend larger shares of their wealth on upscale travel options. The increase is also a result of rising wealth levels in Asia.
We dug deeper into this ongoing evolution by surveying luxury travelers around the globe about their preferences, plans, and expectations. Some widely held notions about luxury travelers—such as how much money they have, how old they are, and where they come from—could be due for reexamination.
Destination readiness: Preparing for the tourist flows of tomorrow
As global tourism grows, it will be crucial for destinations to be ready. How can the tourism ecosystem prepare to host unprecedented volumes of visitors while managing the challenges that can accompany this success? A large flow of tourists, if not carefully channeled, can encumber infrastructure, harm natural and cultural attractions, and frustrate locals and visitors alike.
Now is the time for tourism stakeholders to combine their thinking and resources to look for better ways to handle the visitor flows of today while properly preparing themselves for the visitor flows of tomorrow. We offer a diagnostic that destinations can use to spot early-warning signs about tourism concentration, along with suggestions for funding mechanisms and strategies to help maximize the benefits of tourism while minimizing its negative impacts.
Six trends shaping new business models in tourism and hospitality
As destinations and source markets have transformed over the past decade, tourism and hospitality companies have evolved, too. Accommodation, home sharing, cruises, and theme parks are among the sectors in which new approaches could present new opportunities. Stakeholders gearing up for new challenges should look for business model innovations that will help sustain their hard-won growth—and profits.
Unbundling offerings, cross-selling distinctive experiences, and embracing data-powered strategies can all be winning moves. A series of insight-driven charts reveal significant trends and an outlook on the future.

Travelers delayed over 2.1M hours at airports last year: FAA says 'safety' and 'efficiency' is top priority
Passengers flying to and from an airport in utah last year experienced the longest flight delays across the country.

Americans are unsurprisingly fed up with constant flight delays and cancellations across the U.S., and it is only to be expected. From 2023-2024, passengers lost over 2.1 million hours of time due to travel issues.
Data for 2 million flights from the Bureau of Transportation was probed, and a newly released Places to Travel report concluded that from Jan. 2023 to Feb. 2024, passengers lost 2,100,140 hours and 43 minutes of travel time as a result of delays.
A small regional airport in Utah, Provo Airport, accounted for the longest average flight delays during the allotted time period, according to the report.

Commercial airlines , Allegiant Air and American Airlines facilitate consumer travel to and from major cities within Provo.
"Both airlines flying out of Provo Airport are low cost carriers flying non-stop, point-to-point service," Brian Torgersen, Director at Provo Airport, told FOX Business via email.
"These airlines that currently operate in Provo do not have spare aircraft, or flight crews, sitting in Provo to plug into the schedule during extended delays," he added. "Aside from the first flights of the day, flights departing from Provo cannot leave until the aircraft arrives from its previous destinations, accruing delay throughout the day at every previous stop."
Torgersen added that other airports topping the Places to Travel list experience these same issues due to providing non-stop service to destinations, too. Planes experiencing mechanical issues or severe weather without a backup can create delays all day.
On average, the Beehive State airport hinders travel with an average delay time of 1 hour and 43 minutes. Of the 2,194 flights surveyed in and out of Provo, 39.74% of them were delayed.
A representative at the FAA provided FOX Business with safe summer travel documentation found on their website ahead of the upcoming busy months.
"Our job is to get you to your destination safely and efficiently," the FAA site reads . "This summer will see more planes in the skies, frequent bad weather, and increased use of the nation’s airspace. We are continuously working to address these challenges."

Orlando Sanford International in Florida averages delay times for travelers of 1 hour and 35 minutes, according to the report.
From Jan. 2023 to Feb. 2024, 9,847 flights landed at Orlando Sanford, and 28.09% of them were delayed. The report shows that passengers experienced 4,095 days, or 11 years, worth of delays.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport accounted for 4,096 days worth of domestic and international impediments, with an average of 1 hour and 29 minutes in delays. Of the 308,806 flights arriving at Dallas Fort Worth, 66,105 of them, or 21.41%, were delayed.
Hilo International Airport in Hawaii had the shortest average delays of 40 minutes.
In total, travelers lost 40 days due to delays in Hilo.
Of all the airports evaluated, three of the top 10 airports with the longest delays are located in Central Florida. In August, Florida airports first experienced lengthy lines of halted passengers that were later accompanied by cancelations due to Hurricane Idalia.

In mid-Feb., two members of Congress, Reps. Brian Mast, R-Fla., and Lois Frankel, D-Fla., failed to make it to Washington, D.C., in time for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas' impeachment due to flight delays at Palm Beach International Airport.
At the time, Mast posted to X that he had been anticipating a flight for nine hours already.
Though Palm Beach does not appear on the list of airports with the worst delays, the location experienced a high volume of grounded planes for extensive periods of time around the holidays late last year.
Airports with the longest average delays, per the report:
- Provo Airport: 1 hour, 42 minutes
- Orlando Sanford International Airport: 1 hour, 34 minutes
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport: 1 hour, 29 minutes
- Charlotte Douglas International Airport: 1 hour, 28 minutes

Bette Nash, the world's longest-serving flight attendant, dies at 88

The aviation world is mourning Bette Nash, a D.C.-based flight attendant who died earlier this month after spending nearly seven decades serving passengers in the skies — and making history along the way.
Nash began her career with now-defunct Eastern Airlines at age 21 in 1957, when Dwight Eisenhower was president, flights between New York and D.C. cost $12 and “stewardesses,” as they were called, served lobster on platters and passed out cigarettes on board.
The industry changed drastically during Nash’s tenure, especially with the introduction of technology (no more handwritten tickets, for example). American Airlines eventually took over some of Eastern's routes.
But, as she said at a celebration of her 60 years of service in 2017, the joys of the job remained.
Delta will begin paying flight attendants for flight boarding time
“My favorite part of flying over the years has been greeting my passengers as they board and deplane,” Nash said at the time. “People really are fascinating and it’s truly been a joy.”
Nash became an increasingly recognizable fixture on American Airlines flights in recent years — particularly on shuttle flights between Washington and Boston, which the company affectionately nicknamed “the Nash-Dash .” She preferred that route because it enabled her to spend time caring for her son , who has Down syndrome.
Nash earned the Guinness World Record for longest-serving flight attendant in 2022, by which point she had been working for more than 64 years.
And she never officially retired, according to ABC News . It reports she died in hospice care at age 88, following a recent breast cancer diagnosis.
American Airlines confirmed her death in a statement over the weekend. It called her “a legend at American and throughout the industry, inspiring generations of flight attendants.”
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants also mourned Nash’s passing , saying she “touched countless lives with her warmth, dedication and unparalleled service” throughout her remarkable career.
“Her passion for flying and her commitment to her passengers were truly inspiring,” continued the union, which represents thousands of American Airlines flight attendants. “Bette’s legacy will forever be remembered in the aviation community and by all who had the privilege of knowing her.”
Highlights from a historic career
A late-1950s photo of Nash as an Eastern Airlines stewardess. James M. Thresher / TWP hide caption
Nash was inspired to become a flight attendant from her first time on a plane as a teenager, flying from Washington to Dayton, Ohio.
She “fell in love with ‘the spiffy appearances and gracious manners of the crew members,’ ” according to American Airlines, and followed suit a few years later.
Air travel has gone to the dogs — literally. Here’s what to know about BARK Air
At the start of her career, in the late 1950s, passengers bought life insurance at an airport vending machine and paid their airfare on board, according to ABC affiliate WJLA .
Flight attendants had to wear gloves — a coworker remembered Nash would always pack two pairs , in case one got dirty — and weigh in before shifts.
“It used to be horrible,” Nash told WJLA in 2017. “You put on a few pounds and you had to keep weighing yourself, and then if you stayed that way, they would take ya off the payroll!”
Over the years, Nash served many famous passengers — including Jackie Kennedy, according to American Airlines. But she said her most memorable encounter wasn’t with a big-name celebrity.
In a 2019 interview with the travel site The Points Guy, Nash recalled an instance decades ago — before the 1990 passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act — when a passenger with disabilities was left behind at the gate during boarding as the crew debated what to do. She said she helped him board and fed him during the flight, as he didn’t have use of his hands.
Airlines are ordered to give full refunds instead of vouchers and to stop hiding fees
American Airlines celebrated Nash’s “ diamond jubilee ” in 2017 at a ceremony at her home base of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, just outside D.C.
The company gave her a pair of diamond earrings to mark her 60th work anniversary and donated $10,000 to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Food Bank, a cause it said she regularly supported.
Nash said at the time that she didn’t plan to hang up her wings anytime soon.
“As long as I have my health and I’m able, why not work,” she said. “It’s still fun.”

Apologies if this is a long story. After my mother in Michigan gifted my daughter her 2001 VW Beetle with 48,000 miles on it, my daughter and I traveled from California to pick up the car. We headed out on Thursday morning for the 5 day drive back home to Oakland California, taking a northern route to stop by Badlands National Park and Mt Rushmore. By Saturday evening, we arrived in Cheyenne WY, where we spent the night. After looking at the weather forecast for the Sierra mountains, we decided to pick up some chains for our tires at the local Walmart in Laramie, WY, before continuing on our trip. On Sunday morning, as we got close to Laramie on I-80, the engine started sputtering, misfiring and losing power. The EPC light kept flashing and it was clear something was wrong. I was able to make it to the local Walmart parking lot, though the car stalled a few times on the way there. After I parked, I was unable to generate any power beyond idling, and the car continued to stall. I consulted yelp and google to find a local mechanic, but none of the local shops were open on Sunday. I saw a listing for Rise High Auto Repair, which described itself as a mobile mechanic company. I called the number and spoke with the proprietor, Chris on the phone. He said he could be there in 35 minutes and would diagnose the problem for $125 ($95 diagnostic fee and $35 travel fee) in the Walmart parking lot and that the $95 diagnostic fee would count against the repair cost if we opted to have him repair the car. When Chris arrived in his mobile truck, he was incredibly friendly and he got straight to work. He recommended replacing the spark plugs and wires, thinking that would address the issue. After finishing the repair and clearing the codes, he suggested I drive around in the parking lot a few times to reset the computer to see if the repair addressed the issue. However it did not. I made it about 200 feet and the initial problem persisted. He said he thought it could be an issue with the throttle, which he said he could clean, but if it needed replacement, I'd need to spend a couple of days in Laramie, because it was unlikely any of the local part shops would have the necessary part in inventory. He took apart the throttle, cleaned it out, and reset the computer. We decided to take our chances and see if we could make it to Salt Lake City and then Elko NV, which was about 625 miles away. The car ran well all the way to Elko. We got to Elko around 10:30 pm, and I noticed I had a text from Chis checking in on us to see how the trip was going. On Monday morning, we continued our trip back to Oakland and arrived safely with no further issues. Again, I had a text from Chris on Monday, to see if we made it home ok. All told we drove over 1100 miles. I can't say enough about Chris. First, he was incredibly competent. I could tell from speaking with him that he is extremely knowledgeable about automobile repairs. Watching him work, I felt like I was watching a surgeon. He made all of the repairs in the Walmart parking lot and he worked efficiently and thoroughly to ensure that he was able to repair the car. It was cold and windy on this particular Sunday and he invested over 4 hours of his time fixing our car outside. Finally, he was incredibly honest and kind. He cared enough to check in on us until we got home, something he really didn't need to do. I unequivocally recommend using Chris and his company if you find yourself in Laramie WY.
Just wanted to give my guy a big shout out could not find anyone to work on my 2003 Ford Crown Victoria at a reasonable price or to touch it at all and he came to my house and he got me right big thanks to you.

Cicada map 2024: Broods XIII and XIX emerge in Ohio vacationer hotspots
It's not necessarily a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it doesn't happen often. It's typically more than a decade between times when periodical cicadas emerge in full force in many portions of the country.
They're out now in nearly 20 U.S. states across the Southeast and Midwest.
These 17 states, which range from Oklahoma to Wisconsin to North Carolina and more, are seeing the trillions of cicadas emerging this year in a rare, double brood event.
The two broods this year, the 13-year Brood XIX located mainly in the Southeast and the 17-year Brood XIII in the Midwest, have not emerged together in 221 years and are not expected to do so again until 2245.
Thanks to warm soil temperatures and ideal conditions, cicadas from both broods have already made their way above ground and the emergence is already in full swing.
Here's where you can find cicadas above ground this year.
What do cicadas eat? Lifecycle, diet and biting habits explained
2024 cicada map: Check out where Broods XIII, XIX are projected to emerge
The two cicada broods were projected to emerge in a combined 17 states across the South and Midwest. They emerge once the soil eight inches underground reaches 64 degrees, beginning in many states in April and May and lasting through late June.
The two broods last emerged together in 1803 , when Thomas Jefferson was president.
Traveling from Ohio or Northern Kentucky this summer? You may see cicadas
Are you an Ohio or Kentucky resident traveling to places like middle Tennessee or western North Carolina? Well then, be on the lookout for cicadas.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, both less than 300 miles from Cincinnati and under 400 miles from Columbus, are Ohio vacationer hotspots where cicadas are above ground this spring.
If you're eyeing a Lake Michigan getaway, you're likely to share the beach with some 17-year cicadas.
New Buffalo in Southwest Michigan, which is less than 300 miles from Columbus and Cincinnati and slightly more than 300 miles from Akron, has cicadas.
Likewise for Indiana Dunes in Northern Indiana — also less than 300 miles from Columbus and Cincinnati and a little over 300 miles from Akron. Northern Illinois, including the Chicago area, are also expected to experience 17-year cicadas this year.
Where are the cicadas in 2024? App developed in Cincinnati tracks sightings
Adult periodical cicadas from Brood XIX are out in full force in states across the Midwest and Southeast, according to Cicada Safari , a cicada tracking app developed by Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
App users have spotted them in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, southern Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Brood XIII has emerged in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana. The Chicago area and around central and northern Illinois and downstate areas around the cities of Peoria and Champaign are experiencing cicada mania, according to the tracking service.
Does Ohio have cicadas?
Ohio is not in the path of the two broods appearing across much of the Southeast and Midwest, according to the University of Connecticut. However, you might still spot either brood this spring as "some stragglers may pop up in the southwest of the state," according to Ohio State University's Buckeye Environmental Horticulture Team .
Parts of southern and southwest Ohio will see the emergence of Brood XIV cicadas in 2025, per OSU's Buckeye Environmental Horticulture Team.
Confusingly, Brood XIII emerges every 17 years while Brook XIX resurfaces every 13 years, according to the University of Illinois .
Will cicadas emerging this year fly to Ohio?
Ohio is not expected to see an onslaught of periodical cicadas from either Brood XIX or XIII, but some neighboring states will.
So will the cicadas be able to fly to Ohio? That's unlikely for two reasons.
First, cicadas are clumsy flyers, and their wings are not suitable for long distance travel, according to Science News Explores .
Plus, periodical cicadas emerge only to molt, breed, lay eggs and die, all within a few weeks. They don't spend time looking for new territory. Cicadas typically fly less than half a mile from the spot where they emerge, according to the University of Illinois. So, 17-year cicadas from Abraham Lincoln's day have spread roughly five miles total.
What is a brood?
According to the University of Connecticut , broods are classified as "all periodical cicadas of the same life cycle type that emerge in a given year."
A brood of cicadas is made up of different species of the insect that have separate evolutionary histories. These species may have joined the brood at different times or from different sources. These distinct species are lumped together under the brood because they are in the same region and emerge on a common schedule.
How long will the cicadas be above ground?
How long cicadas live depends on their brood and if they are an annual or periodical species.
The two periodical broods this summer are Brood XIX, which has a 13-year life cycle, and Brood XIII, which has a 17-year life cycle.
Once male and female periodical cicadas have mated and the latter has laid its eggs, the insects will die after spending only a few weeks above ground − anywhere from three to six weeks after first emerging.
That means many of this year's periodical cicadas are set to die in June, though some could die off in late May or July, depending on when they emerged.
The nymphs of annual cicadas remain underground for two to five years , according to the Missouri Department of Conservation. These cicadas are called " annual " because some members of the species emerge as adults each year.
Why do cicadas make so much noise?
You'll have to thank the male cicadas for all that screeching. Male cicadas synchronize their calls and produce congregational songs, according to Britannica , which establish territory and attract females. There is also a courting call before mating.
The periodical 13-year and 17-year brood cicadas are the loudest, partially because of the sheer number of them that emerge at once.
