Visiting the London Eye

  • Over 3.5 million people per year take a ride on the London Eye, and it’s one of the most popular paid attractions in the UK.
  • The London Eye is the fourth-largest big wheel in the world. At 443 feet (or 135 metres) high, it’s nowhere near being the city’s tallest building. That honour belongs to the Shard, which is 1,004 feet (or 306 metres) high.
  • The London Eye is a cantilevered wheel. This means it’s supported on one side only. Pretty impressive when you know that it weighs 1,000 tonnes, or in excess of 1 million pounds (not sterling, as in mass rather than currency).
  • The number of pods reflects the number of London Boroughs – 32. The fact that the capsule numbers go up to 33 often confuses people, but number 13 was missed out as it’s thought to be unlucky!
  • Several people have climbed the London Eye including American illusionist David Blaine and British long distance runner Mo Farah.
  • The London Eye has been used as a restaurant and a rotating nightclub.
  • You can book a ‘Cupid’s Pod’ on the London Eye. This is a private capsule for two adults only. A box of Hotel Chocolat Pink Champagne Truffles and a bottle of Pommery Rosé Champagne is included. The 30-minute trip is very popular for proposals!
  • Copycat wheels have appeared in cities worldwide since the Eye opened in 2000, apparently inspired by the design. You can also find a miniature model of the Eye at Legoland Windsor, near London.
  • The London Eye opened later than planned. It was meant to be up and running in time for the millennium, but didn’t open until March 2000. This was due to a technical hitch.
  • You can see as far as Windsor Castle from your London Eye pod on a clear day in the city, which is 24 miles (or 39 kilometres) away.

  • Tube: The closest tube station to the London Eye is Waterloo in Zone 1. This is on the Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee and Waterloo & City lines. The Eye is about 5 minute’s walk from here. Westminster, Embankment and Charing Cross are also within easy walking distance.
  • Overground rail: Waterloo and Charing Cross are the closest stations to the London Eye. Waterloo is only 5 minutes away on foot, while Charing Cross is more like 15.
  • Uber boat: London Eye Pier
  • Sightseeing bus: The London Eye is on most major London hop-on, hop-off bus routes.

The London Eye is open daily, except for Christmas Day. Though times vary throughout the year, the Eye opens at 10 am or 11 am and closes at 6 pm or 8.30 pm.

Earlier opening and later closing is more common in summer and at weekends.

When booking your ticket, the available times for the chosen date will show up so you can select the one you want. During January, the Eye often closes for regular maintenance, so do check if you’re travelling then.

View from the London Eye of the River Thames and London.

  • As mentioned above, the London Eye is one of the most popular paid attractions in London. It’s thus ever-popular and always busy!
  • Weekends and the summer season are when to expect the longest queues and biggest crowds in this part of London.
  • If you can, book your visit between Monday and Friday rather than on Saturday or Sunday.
  • Booking an early ride is recommended.

You can see a number of top London attractions, landmarks and icons from your London Eye pod. As well as the River Thames, of course.

Look out for the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey , Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London , Tower Bridge, St Paul’s , The Shard, The Gherkin and the Millenium Bridge – and even Windsor Castle if there are clear skies!

Visiting the London Eye .

  • The best time to visit the London Eye is on a fine, clear day, though this is of course difficult to plan in advance! Clear skies mean you may see as far as Windsor Castle in the distance, way beyond London. There is more of a chance of this in spring or summer, but it can be very busy during summer.
  • The London Eye is great for families visiting London with kids, who in general are pretty fearless and more likely to be awe-inspired than scared! Fast track tickets are recommended to stop them getting bored. As the trip only lasts for half an hour, there’s not really time for them to get restless.
  • The Eye is an accessible attraction. You’ll need to pre-book a slot in advance, which are available for standard sized wheelchairs only. Every disabled visitor is entitled to one free carer ticket. Find out more about London Eye accessibility here .
  • You’re free to take a trip on the London Eye if you’re pregnant, though you might want to use the toilet by the ticket office before boarding!
  • Do buy your tickets in advance to save time and queuing up. We also recommend going for an early slot – or one after 3 pm. This is because the Eye tends to be busiest between 11 am and 3 pm. To avoid the standard queue, it can be worth paying for fast-track boarding, especially at busy times.
  • The time slot you book is the time that you’ll join the queue. You cannot join the queue before your booked slot, so there’s little point in arriving too early.
  • Do make sure you join the right queue! There are three, so it can be confusing. One is to buy tickets, one is for standard ticket holders and the third is for those with fast-track tickets.
  • Anyone aged 15 or under must come along with an adult aged 18 or over. 16 and 17 year olds can visit the attraction unaccompanied, however.
  • Don’t forget to charge your camera battery so you can snap some selfies! If you have binoculars, do bring those along too for far-reaching views.

Visiting the London Eye (Best Tips, Tickets & Tours)

By: Author Tracy Collins

Posted on Last updated: June 19, 2024

If you’re thinking about visiting the London Eye then this is the post for you! The London Eye is a tourist attraction that completely lives up to expectations and both your time and cost of the London Eye ride are very much worth the investment.

Let’s get started with a few London Eye facts. It’s the biggest cantilevered observation wheel in the world and is 135 metres high. Introduced at the turn of the millennium, it has since received more than 85 awards recognising its architecture, tourism and engineering achievements.

It is currently the number one paid attraction in the whole of the UK and celebrated two decades at the top in 2020. Located on the vibrant, arty South Bank of the River Thames, it has sparked the construction of many similar attractions in cities across the globe.

To ride the London Eye is to see the world’s most famous Ferris wheel for yourself – and to witness the outstanding views over one of the most exciting and important cities on the planet.

Lesser known, perhaps, is the sheer sense of scale and context your ‘flight’ will give you, of how this collection of ‘villages’ known as London all fits together, as well as how vast the British capital really is.

If you want to join the huge numbers of London Eye visitors (around 3 million per year) by booking your ticket, stay right here.

This guide will take you through all the information on the London Eye you’ll need. Including options when you want to buy tickets for the London Eye and all the other tips and tricks you could wish to know about!

Visiting the London Eye is popular with tourists.

London Eye Tickets – Quick Guide

Why is the london eye a good place to visit, how can i travel to the london eye, how long does it take to go round the london eye, what attractions are near the london eye, how much does it cost to go on the london eye, what’s the best time to go on the london eye, is it safe to go on the london eye, london eye ticket only options, combined tickets for london tourist attractions including the london eye, london passes, how will you visit the london eye, london travel guide & itinerary planner (+ 4 bonus ebooks), visiting the london eye – faqs & tips.

Let’s get started by answering some London Eye frequently asked questions. We cover how to get there, booking for the London Eye, how long the trip takes, what other London attractions are near the London Eye, the best time to go, the cost of the London Eye and more.

London Eye.

The best way to answer this is to think about the name. This big wheel will give you a bird’s eye view over the fabulous city of London, including the River Thames it looms over and landmarks like The Gherkin, St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, The OXO Tower and the Houses of Parliament.

You’ll also be able to see the people of London scurrying about beneath you like tiny ants, as they rush towards the West End to catch a show , head into the Underground station or pop into their favourite Oxford Street store – or perhaps the pub – before closing time.

With London spread out beneath you like a rich and ever-changing tapestry, you’ll get a real sense of both the scale and the importance of the place too. As well as plenty of great selfie opportunities!

The London Eye is positioned right by the river on the South Bank, and its size makes it easy to spot even from some distance away. To get to it, head for Waterloo , Westminster, Embankment or Charing Cross station.

Waterloo is the closest, with the Eye being just a five-minute walk away. Charing Cross and Embankment are very close to one another on the northern side of the river, and you can get to the London eye by crossing Hungerford Bridge. If you travel to Westminster, follow the signs for Westminster Pier and you’ll soon spot the big wheel.

You may be wondering about the London Eye time to go around – how long does it take? Your total London Eye visit time includes half an hour on the wheel, but you’ll need to allow extra for queuing, checking in, embarking and disembarking.

It may also be worth considering the next question when working out how much time to allow…

London Eye with Big Ben in the background.

What other tourist attractions are near the London Eye that you can visit at the same time? Key things to see near the London Eye include the South Bank itself, which is packed with attractive shops, places to eat and drink and outdoor entertainment.

You can also stroll across the river to Westminster, home to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The reflection in the water as you cross the bridge is worth looking out for – and capturing on camera if you can.

Simple wandering along the riverbank on either side is a pleasant thing to do, and you can always dip into any cafes, shops or pubs that appeal as you pass. If you fancy stretching your legs, you could carry on towards Covent Garden, Soho, Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus – or head to Green Park for a picnic.

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The price to go on the London Eye varies according to how and when you book. The London Eye admission fee is cheaper if you book ahead. For example, at the time of writing (March 2023) the on-the-day standard adult price is from £33.50, but if you book online this starts at £30.50.

It can be more convenient or cost-effective to buy combined or fast track tickets or even a London Pass . The best options are outlined in detail below.

Visiting the London Eye on a boat trip along the Thames.

The best time to visit the London Eye can depend on whether you want to see London by daylight, or illuminated by night.

What time to go depends on your plans – and whether or not you’ve pre-booked. If not, expect to pay more as well as experiencing long queues! We recommend going for skip the line tickets if you can.

The London Eye has been awarded the ‘ We’re Good to Go ‘ charter mark by VisitEngland , so all the desirable safety measures are in place, including enhanced security checks.

35 Best Things to Do In London: Ideas for a Bucket List

I f you are wondering if you should plan a trip to London and IF there will be enough things to do in London, England to keep you busy, wonder no more. In fact, the New York Times listed London as the #1 Place To Go in 2023 .

There are so many cool and epic things to do in London that deciding what to see and do might be a little overwhelming. Your ideas for a bucket list of things to do will be overflowing; London is a vibrant city with major landmarks and tourist attractions all over the city.

If you are visiting for the first time, pick a few of your favorite sites to see. You probably won't get to everything. This is especially true if you are planning things to do in London with teens.

This makes London the perfect city to visit again and again and again. There's always something more to explore.

But First, Getting Around London

The Underground is London's subway or metro and is also known as the "Tube". It is clean, convenient and an easy way to travel about the city when you are moving between your planned things to do in London.

No doubt you will hear and see "Mind the Gap" throughout your visit. It is one of the most familiar London quotes that you will notice all around the city.

Oyster Card

Purchasing a Visitor Oyster Card and is one of the best things to do in London if you want to travel like a local. It can be used on most London public transport: Tube, buses, tram, DLR (Docklands Light Railway), Overground and National Rail services in London.

There is a £5 non-refundable fee required when your first activate your card. After that, when you run out of credit, easily top up using any of the ticket machines in any station or in many shops around London. Once you buy an Oyster Card, be sure to keep it for your return trip.

This paper copy of a London travel pass can be validated for either a single day or seven days .

Choosing between the two pass options—Oyster Card and Travelcard—may depend on your length of stay in London, the zones you plan to use and what you want to see in London.

Paying for journeys on the Transit options in London is pretty slick with Express Mode on Apple Pay using your iPhone or Apple Watch.

"Simply select a card for travel in Wallet. Then just tap your iPhone or Apple Watch on the yellow card reader and go." Apple

Our family did this on a recent trip to London. It was more economical for us to do this than to purchase 3 additional Oyster cards. My husband topped up two of his Oyster cards when we arrived in London for him and our youngest daughter to use.

My older daughters and I handily used Apple Pay on our watches each time we entered and exited the Tube. Using Apple Pay is a perfect option if you are sightseeing and planning things to do in London with teens.

2. Buckingham Palace, The Changing of the Guard and The Mall

You will be amazed with the throngs of people surrounding Buckingham Palace and filling all available sidewalk space when it is time for the Changing of the Guard.

On our first visit to London, Chris and I claimed a spot high above the crowds on one of the bridge posts and claimed it for over an hour to watch the guards. We had a lot of fun people-watching and hearing a variety of different languages being spoken as well.

There were policemen stationed at the crosswalks overseeing crowd control. They had their jobs cut out for them. People would never stop crossing. As it was, the policeman we were most entertained with had to keep yelling out, "The light is red. Stop crossing. STOP crossing!"

After awhile he would start going after the thoughtless souls, turn them around in the middle of the street and send them back to the sidewalk. After all, cars were coming. The people had no sense whatsoever.

So, word to the wise, stop crossing so you don't get yelled at !

The King's Guard is the name given to the guards responsible for guarding Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace (including Clarence House) in London.

The London Eye has been attracting guests for more than a decade and has spun to the top of the most popular tourist activity in London. Enjoy 360° views over London in one of the high-tech glass pods.

The London Eye is located on the south bank of the river Thames. Be sure to pre-book your tickets online as guests receive a timed entry ticket.

6. London Theatre

Chris and I attended a performance of Rock of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London ten years ago. "The historic prime meridian or Greenwich meridian is a geographical reference line that passes through the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in London, England." Wikipedia

The meridian line, at Longitude Zero (0° 0' 0"), represents the Prime Meridian of the world. Every place on earth (almost) uses this measurement in terms of its angle east or west from this line.

If you are visiting London as a family, it is one of the things to do in London with teens. You can at least say, "We've been there!"

8. Notting Hill

The magnificent Palace of Westminster, or House of Parliament, is centrally located in London, England. It serves as the meeting place for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Adjacent to the House of Parliament is another famous London landmark—Westminster Abbey.

10. River Cruise on the River Thames

Chris and I have walked along the River Thames, but taking the river cruise offered a whole new perspective and was definitely a fun thing to do in London with teens.

Starting at the Westminster Pier, the river cruise makes a few quick stops along the way to pick up passengers... including a stop at the London Eye.

You will cruise under a number of bridges—London Bridge and Tower Bridge to name a few—until reaching the Royal Borough of Greenwich. You can also take the return trip back to the Westminster Pier if you wish.

We hopped off the cruise in Greenwich and explored the Docklands Museum, hiked to the Royal Observatory, and feasted on pizza at Franco Manca .

Take a tour of the Tower of London where you will learn about the Bell Tower, see the crown jewels, read the history of the Kings being in favor and out of favor (it must have been a crazy time to live), view the the horses, the weapons, the cells, and the torture devices.

The tower, once best known for its torture and murders, apparently was a grand place to attend an afternoon beheading. It is much more tame in the 21st century but should be a must see on your list of things to do in London.

Day trips from london: ideas for a bucket list, 26. bath day trips from london.

This is one of the day trips in London for families that will be intriguing for everyone. The Roman Baths are located in Bath, a historic city about 2.5 hours outside of London. Beyond a tour of the Roman Baths, you can also see the Bath Abbey, the Circus (a historic circular shaped street filled with unique townhomes), Pulteney Bridge, and the River Avon.

A Circus in London often has nothing to do with clowns. "Circus" comes from the Latin root "circ" (meaning circle). It is a round open space at a street junction, ie., Picadilly Circus.

In Rome, however, a "circus" often refers to an arena that was used for chariot races, gladiator competitions, mock battles, and other blood sports, ie., the Circus Maximus.

27. Bristol

While in Bristol, my husband and I toured the SS Great Britain . You could spend a few hours here touring the hull, learning about the workings of the ship, and then exploring the inside of the ship with first class accommodations, lower class accommodations, the cooking area, bathrooms, etc.

The berths were about a foot wide and barely long enough for my 5'2" height.

Take the Cross Harbor Ferry to transport back and forth across the river.

Other things to do and see in Bristol on day trips from London are the Clifton Suspension Bridge, a River Cruise along the River Avon, and guided walking tours.

28. Cambridge

Cambridge, less than one hour from London, is a lovely town to visit for one of the best day trips from London by train.

Chris and I visited on a rainy day, but still enjoyed meandering along the Backs and the River Cam, touring King's College Chapel, and standing on the Bridge of Sighs. While the day was a little too wet for a punt tour, we saw plenty of the small boats docked along the river.

29. Day Trips from London to Cotswolds

The  Cotswolds  cover an expansive area of almost 800 square miles. You could spend days exploring delightful Cotswold villages with their charming markets and golden hued country homes.

I would classify the Cotswolds as one of my best day trips from London... ever!

During our recent visit to the Cotswolds , Chris and I noted that there were not a lot of transportation opportunities for getting to the Cotswolds and then between the villages. I would recommend that you rent a car.

"Dartmoor really does have something for everyone; history lovers can explore castle ruins and learn about local myths and legends at our museums or on a guided walk, families have plenty of exciting attractions to choose from, while there’s lots of opportunities for rambling over tors, cycling up challenging hills and staying active in the great outdoors." Visit Dartmoor

I loved seeing the Dartmoor ponies, photographing the sheep, and hiking to Bellever Tor (a tor is a hill or rocky peak). While seeing Highland cows was high on my list during our day trip from London, I was disappointed to not see any.

31. Paris Trips from London on the Eurostar

Want to enjoy train day trips from London to Paris? It is possible on the Eurostar. It takes less than 2.5 hours by train and offers you a wonderful day in the "City of Love" .

33. Day Trips from London to Stonehenge

Stonehenge may fall into the category of otherworldly. This world-famous monument was built over 5000 years ago in the Neolithic period. Who, What, Why are all questions that historians seek to answer.

Most people visit Stonehenge to view the Stone Circle, but this UNESCO World Heritage Site also has five Neolithic houses to explore designed after remains that were excavated in 2006.

As there are no direct trains to Stonehenge, the best way to visit this popular tourist site is by car or with a tour.

34. Weston-super-Mare

Weston-super-Mare, or Weston for short, is a seaside town in North Somerset, England. It makes the perfect summer getaway when you are looking for day trips from London and ideas for a bucket list.

35. Windsor Castle

Located just 20 miles outside of the city center, a visit to Windsor is a perfect day trip from London. Windsor Castle is one of the official royal residences. Wander the castle grounds and discover the chapel where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married .

Be sure to book your Windsor Castle tickets in advance.

After exploring the Castle and the grounds, you can stroll along the Long Walk, a 2.5 mile path that connects the castle to The Great Park. A few great ideas for a bucket list.

As Taylor Swift kicked off the long-awaited London leg of her Eras tour on Friday night (21 June) at Wembley Stadium, fans waited eagerly to find out which surprise songs she had chosen for the capital.

Although much of her 45-song set list remains the same across the tour, Swift does alter the “Acoustic Section” of her set, which features two surprise songs that she selects from her back catalogue.

Much of the time, these tracks are chosen based on where she is performing that night. In May, for example, Swift played her 2022 track “Paris” in the French capital. Likewise, performing in London for the first of eight nights on Friday (21 June), Swift played a medley of: “Hits Different”, “Death By A Thousand Cuts”, “Come Back Here”, “Maroon”, and for the first time live, “The Black Dog” .

The latter is widely believed to be based on her brief dalliance with Matty Healy, frontman of the British band The 1975, and includes references to a pub of the same name in Vauxhall, south London.

London, which is predicted to see a £300m boost in the economy courtesy of the Eras tour, welcomed the 14-time Grammy winner with a special performance of her 2014 hit “Shake It Off” during the Changing of the Guards outside Buckingham Palace while Transport for London reimagined the London Tube map to make it Swift-themed , and Wembley Stadium had its steps painted with a Swift mural and temporarily named the “Swiftie steps”.

As the Eras Tour continues for seven more London shows (a total of three in June and five in August), here’s everything you need to know, including all of the VIP guests so far and the most up-to-date set list.

The starry guest list

So far on the tour, Swift has been in good company with many A-listers flocking to see her London dates.

On Saturday night’s show, which marked Swift’s second night in London, Tom Cruise, Hugh Grant, Barbie director Greta Gerwig, actor Jamie Dornan, The Gentleman actor Theo James and Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher were all spotted in a sectioned-off area of the stadium.

He’s back to making her feel “So High School.”

Travis Kelce was spotted at Taylor Swift’s first London Eras Tour stop at the famed Wembley Stadium on Friday after not being publicly seen with the pop star since last month.

An excited fan recorded the NFL star signing her “New Heights” hat from the VIP tent — where he stood with pals — before the concert began.

Kelce, 34, was joined by his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Kylie, who took in their first show of the world tour.

Travis’ look-alike pal, Ross, also made the trip across the pond to watch Swift do her thing.

“Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan , “Queer Eye” alum Jonathan van Ness and model Cara Delevingne were also in attendance.

The retired Eagles center was seen wearing a slew of friendship bracelets on his wrist as he graciously traded them with excited Swifties in the audience.

Fans learned Jason, 36, might be attending the event earlier in the day after he was spotted taking photos with fans at a pub in London following a quick jaunt to the South of France for the Cannes Lions Festival .

The Kansas City Chiefs star — who joined his brother at Cannes Lions to record their “New Heights” podcast — entered the venue after his brother and sister-in-law, but still managed to make it before the 34-year-old pop star hit the stage.

“We do have a lot of new football fans coming in,” Travis shared. “So not just talking football like we would in the locker room, trying to, like, necessarily dumb it down or make it more simple so that everybody can follow along and still enjoy the show.”

Jason chimed in, adding that the podcast has brought together fathers and daughters as young girls want to “get involved in a sport where previously there wasn’t much interest.”

Meanwhile, the last time Travis attended the international leg of Swift’s tour was May 12 in Paris.

At the time, pals Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper joined the three-time Super Bowl winner as they showed their support for the pop icon.

Following the concert, Swift and Travis headed south to Italy for a romantic getaway to Lake Como.

They stayed at a $21,000-per-night villa and were spotted enjoying a romantic dinner and taking a private boat ride around town.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

The couple is approaching their one-year anniversary. They’ve been dating since last summer after the NFL star attempted – and failed – to give his girlfriend his phone number at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, Mo., in July 2023.

They took their romance public in September 2023 as Swift attended her beau’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Sources previously told Page Six the “Cruel Summer” singer and Travis plan to get engaged this summer.

Taylor Swift appeared speechless when she emerged on stage to a crowd of around 90,000 people, Alex Iszatt reports for ITV News

The Prince of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined tens of thousands of people at Wembley last night for Taylor Swift's “unforgettable” first night in London as she finally brought her Eras Tour to the capital.

The concert also coincided with William's 42nd birthday, and the popstar later tweeted a photo of the group backstage with her boyfriend Travis Kelce with the caption: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start".

The Princess of Wales stayed at home with Prince Louis.

Other celebrity fans and friends, including Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness and model Cara Delevingne, Swift’s boyfriend, his brother Jason and their parents, as well as her parents Andrea and Scott Swift, were also in the 90,000-strong crowd at Wembley Stadium.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer also attended the event with his wife Victoria.

Swift’s billion-dollar juggernaut tour takes fans through her back catalogue , including hits from albums 1989, Red and Midnights.

The revamped set list, which she first unveiled at the Paris shows, also includes songs from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department.

Opening the show, she told the crowd: “What an absolute honour it is to say these words to you – London, welcome to the Eras tour.

“I’m going to say something that is going to sound crazy but it’s true – there are 88,446 people in this stadium.

“Look what you’ve done for us London, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

She continued: “Thinking about how many people I’m looking at and how you could spend your time in the most exhilarating city in the world, especially on a Friday night in the summer on a beautiful day in London, and you decided to be here.

“Thank you for all the effort you made to be here , dressing up to be here, memorising song lyrics to be here.”

During the show, Swift reminisced about gigs at King’s College London and the Shepherd’s Bush Empire that she performed earlier in her career.

She said: “You just continued to support me more and more and the rooms got bigger then bigger and now you’ve done this, sold out three nights in June and five in August.

“I’m not the best at maths but I think that means we get to play Wembley Stadium eight times.”

Swift has already played shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff and will take to the stage in Wembley again on Saturday and Sunday before the tour moves on to Dublin.

She will return to London again for five nights in August.

She told fans: “We have a lot of fun memories, but this feels more special and more fun than any tour I’ve done.

“We get to take all the memories we’ve made over the years and put them all in one tour.”

It was an extra special night for two of Swift’s fans, who got engaged during her rendition of her hit Love Story.

Jamie Walters, 25, got down on one knee to propose to girlfriend Cate Crowe, 25, at the climactic moment of the song.

The couple, from Eastbourne, have been together for eight years. After the proposal, Crowe said: “It was a total surprise, I didn’t know I was even coming to the show until today. He surprised me with the tickets as well as the ring.”

The acoustic set, which features surprise songs every night, also offered a special treat for fans as Swift performed a track live for the first time ever.

Fuelling fire to the reports her song The Black Dog is about a London pub, she performed it live on the piano for the London crowd, mashed up with Midnights track Maroon.

On guitar she performed a mash up of It Hits Different and Death By A Thousand Cuts.

Ahead of her final song – Karma from Midnights – she told the crowd: “This has been an unforgettable night.”

That song also offered up a special treat for fans of her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce as she included a special shout out to him.

She changed the lyrics in her final song to: “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.”

It is a change she has made before when Kelce is in the crowd, but still drew screams from the assembled devotees.

It was revealed on Thursday that Swift’s fans were expected to boost the London economy by £300 million as the capital hosts more Eras Tour shows than any other city in the world, with nearly 640,000 people expected to attend across the eight dates.

To celebrate her arrival in the capital, murals, a special Tube map, a Taylor trail and a series of events have all been created.

Taylor Swift brings Travis Kelce onstage in London for the first time at an Eras Tour show

If anyone thought singing " Karma is the guy on the Chiefs " was as public as Taylor Swift was going to go with her all-star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, think again.

On Sunday night, at the third of her London Eras Tour shows this weekend, Kelce graced the famed diamond walkway at Wembley Stadium in his first-ever onstage appearance. He performed alongside Swift during the intro for "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" in the newly added "Tortured Poets" era of the show .

Taylor Swift is joined on stage by Travis Kelce

As Swift transitions into the last song of the era, she typically acts out a short skit with two of her dancers, after she appears to "drop dead" during the penultimate song in the set, "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived."

One of the dancers carries her to a heart-shaped couch, and they then appear to revive a lifeless Swift, changing her costume from a white gown to a two-piece sequin set and applying her makeup to get her ready for the rest of the show so she can, well, do it with a broken heart.

Kelce proved to be a fearless lover Sunday, joining the trio onstage in full costume, showing off his acting chops as if he were auditioning to be a mainstay for the rest of the tour.

Videos posted to social media showed Kelce first carrying Swift to the couch, then brushing her face with a makeup brush once she was up again. He showed off some dance moves, too, all with a big, goofy smile plastered to his face.

The track, an upbeat pop banger on Swift's latest album, appears to be about the Eras Tour itself and how Swift has been able to put on one of the biggest and most successful concert runs of all time amid a breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn last year, shortly after the tour began.

Swift herself gave high praise to her beau's performance, saying in a Monday post to Instagram that she was "still cracking up/swooning over" Kelce's stage debut on the Eras Tour.

It had already been a big Eras weekend for Kelce, who was at all three London shows. Swift posted a selfie on Instagram featuring Kelce alongside Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who attended the Friday night show .

Kelce and Swift have been linked for nearly a year now, as rumors swirled last summer about a potential relationship after Kelce boldly declared on his podcast, "New Heights," that he tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at one of her Kansas City shows.

They went public with their relationship in September when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, and they have been caught supporting each other and their very public careers ever since.

Prince William shakes it off as Taylor Swift's Eras Tour arrives in London

Taylor Swift takes a selfie with Prince William, Prince George and Charlotte, all smiling excitedly

Prince William has enjoyed a birthday treat boogieing the night away at the first of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concerts in London.

The prince was spotted dancing on the balcony of a private box at Wembley Stadium, where Swift kicked off the London leg of her global tour on Friday night local time.

The official account of the Prince and Princess of Wales on X later shared a behind-the-scenes photo of William posing for a selfie with Swift, alongside his two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

"Thank you @taylorswift13 for a great evening!" the post read.

Swift also shared a selfie with the royals, as well as her boyfriend Travis Kelce, wishing William a happy birthday.

"Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start," she wrote.

Swift is set to play eight shows at Wembley Stadium, which has a capacity of 90,000, as part of her two-year-long world tour.

The opening night was star-studded, with Bridgerton actor Nicola Coughlan, Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness and model Cara Delevigne among those spotted in the crowd.

Labour leader Keir Starmer also shared a photo on social media of him and his wife in the stands.

Prince William's wife, Princess Catherine, marked his 42nd birthday a day earlier by sharing an image online of the prince and all three of the couple's children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
