Nigeria Travels and Tours

Providing guided, safe, comfortable, and authentic tours, we invite you to experience Nigeria with us. NigeriaTT is on a mission to focus and shine a light on the diversity within Nigeria on all fronts. From the fertile lands of the north to the bustling and largely industrialized corners of the South, the abundance of history and culture that has brought the country to its present day status is a journey that we are proud to be a part of. Understanding timing is of the essence in every case of a traveller, we have a multitude of options. Whether it is exploring Lagos (Africa’s largest city) for a few hours, wanting to visit Yankari National Park to photograph some elephants and lions that the park offers refuge to, experiencing the lifestyle and day to day of the Hausa or Fulani people, or diving right in for a multi week Nigerian experience, we are here for you.

We are proud to offer guides specialized in particular areas all throughout the country. With years of experience and exploration in different pockets of Nigeria we are able to confidently cater to the most specific needs or requests of our guests. From a secure and stress free immigration experience to an armed security escorted tour across the country our team is well versed and licensed for a multitude of services and experiences.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Africa’s most populous country has over 250 ethic groups, and there are over 500 native languages spoken throughout the country – however oftentimes it is! Welcome to Nigeria – much more than a petroleum capital of the world! On the contrary, explore protected reserves such as Yankari National Park and Cross River National Park offering refuge to some of the continent’s most recognized mammals including the African elephant and lion. The diversity in the landscapes across the regions is astounding from savannas to mountain ranges covered in rainforest to swampy mangrove areas. This topography allows for a wide range of flora to thrive – much of which is also endemic. Nigeria allows you to absorb an array of music, dancing, and art throughout the land as you experience different tribes and their customs. Whether strolling through the streets of Lagos, cruising by local boat along the Niger River, or enjoying a locally prepped and cooked meal talking about life with a Hausa – Fulani, Nigeria is captivating. With preconceived ideas behind you, immerse yourself in the moments – both expected and unexpected!

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s faux ‘royal’ travels create headaches and show ‘all about me’ POV: sources

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s recent Nigeria trip was such a glossy PR success they’re likely to set up more faux “royal” tours — much to the chagrin of actual working royals, insiders told Page Six.

The couple’s visit earlier this month came on the heels of a much-publicized February trip to Canada to promote the 2025 Invictus Games.

But well-placed royal sources with knowledge of royal tours worry that such splashy, high-profile jaunts could create a “major diplomatic incident” for other countries.

Working royals — which Harry and Meghan were before they decided to step down from the roles in 2020 —  make official visits abroad at the express invitation of the British Foreign Office.

One well-placed royal source told Page Six, “Harry and Meghan’s trip was very interesting since it didn’t fit any of the normally accepted royal categories. This would have given the High Commission in Nigeria a headache. If a prince lands in your patch, officially or otherwise, you have protocol, security and media issues which have to be right.”

Normally, the royal source added, “This would all be part of the planning of a proper royal tour. But Harry and Meghan’s tour showed their ‘all about me’ media strategy and how they divert from royalty’s role as super ambassadors for Britain.

“When Harry and Meghan break all the usual norms of royal visits, it somewhat looks like the royal family can’t manage itself properly.”

This all comes as the most popular working royals are not able to travel on official tours.

Kate Middleton, along with Prince William, last went on tour to Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas — a trip fraught with political issues — in 2022. But the Princess of Wales is now out of the public eye as she battles cancer.

Nigeria Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa, his wife Lilian Musa, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu (3ndR), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, meanwhile, were meant to visit Australia later this year, but Charles, 75, is also battling cancer.

“A high-profile royal visit overseas has one main function — to promote British interests: diplomatic, trade, cultural and humanitarian. That’s their job,” said the royal source. “By the grace of god there wasn’t a major diplomatic incident this time, but it’s a risk for the future that Harry and Meghan seem to be willing to disregard.”

A British official with knowledge of royal tours told Page Six that Harry and Meghan’s attention-drawing travels would cause a “medium headache” for embassies and high commissions.

It would be up to the British embassy and the host country to decide how to engage with them, the source said, admitting, “The foreign office feels the impact of having fewer working royals. It’s like having a little bit of gold dust, and you can only sprinkle it so far.”

Harry and Markle traveled to Nigeria at the invitation of the country’s chief of defense General Christopher Musa.

The tour included a visit to Nigeria Unconquered, an Invictus-affiliated charity, along with an emotional visit to a military hospital in Kaduna for Harry.

Princess Diana wears body armor in Angola in January 1997.

Markle, meanwhile, appeared on a panel discussion about women and leadership alongside the director-general of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

In stepping back from their roles as working royals, the couple had hoped to serve both the crown and the commonwealth — of which Nigeria is a part — while striving for financial independence, but Queen Elizabeth turned them down, prompting their move to the US.

Other sources said that Harry and Markle’s foreign trips were reminiscent of how Princess Diana stepped out on the world stage on her own following her split from King Charles.

Princess Diana greets Mother Teresa.

However, one insider said that many of her trips were supported fully by the foreign office as she supported British interests abroad.

Harry has said that “Africa is in my soul,” and sources say both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will absolutely revisit the continent.

Duchess Meghan Changes Into an Elegant Gold Gown for Her Last Engagement in Nigeria

She and Prince Harry attended a polo match at the esteemed Lagos Polo Club

At the prestigious Lagos Polo Club in the West African country’s former capital, the duchess looked radiant in a beige maxi dress. The silk gown featured a plunging neckline, ruched waistline, and matching scarf—the last of which made Meghan look like Hollywood royalty. A closer look revealed the gown’s subtle gold floral patterns, both printed and embroidered on the dress.

To complement her outfit, Meghan accessorized with red beaded earrings and her signature square black sunglasses. She also wore a significant stack of gold and diamond bracelets, which have been a constant in her range of looks throughout the trip. The glimmering assortment of bracelets included her Lorraine Schwartz Evil Eye bracelet, gold Cartier Love bangle, and diamond hex tennis bracelet from Ariel Gordon, and she also wore her snowflake diamond ring from Birks.

Harry matched her elegant look with one of his own, an all-black suit with a gray button-down shirt. He also wore a silver chain, silver wristwatch, and green beaded bracelet—perhaps a souvenir from his travels.

Soon after arriving at the club, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex watched a pregame parade of young children, who carried the green and white flags of Nigeria as eight older children followed them on horseback. The polo teams—representing Duke versus Duchess—were then presented.

The royal couple attended the match in support of nonprofit Nigeria Unconquered. As they watched the game, the Susssexes were able to meet fellow supporters of the organization, which, like Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, helps veterans and wounded soldiers by challenging them through adaptive sports.

Founded in 1904, the Lagos Polo Club stands as one of Nigeria’s oldest and most esteemed social clubs, renowned for its vibrant equestrian culture and polo tournaments. For Harry, polo is familiar ground, as he has often participated in charity matches and supported various polo-related initiatives. In fact, the duke is working with Netflix on a show about the sport.

After the match ended—won by the Duchess’s team, by two points—Meghan and Harry handed out medals to the players. The duke gave an impromptu speech to thank everyone for their hospitality at the club, and throughout the royal tour of Nigeria.

The polo match marked the last event of Meghan and Harry’s busy three-day trip . Earlier on Sunday, the two attended a reception hosted by Nigerian Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa and the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Before that, they supported the nonprofit Giants of Africa on the basketball court of Ilupeju Senior Grammar School, where they met wheelchair-bound athletes.

At one point, Prince Harry even joined in on the games. For him especially, ending the journey in Lagos holds special significance, as it mirrors a historic state visit by his parents, King Charles and Princess Diana, in 1990.

"At no point did she say anything about Meghan's dressing," the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu said

  • The office of Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has clarified her recent speech mentioning Meghan Markle
  • The First Lady's office said that she never referenced "Meghan's dressing"
  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Nigeria at the invitation of its highest-ranking military official from May 10 to May 12

The First Lady of Nigeria is clarifying her remarks after a recent speech was misinterpreted as criticism of Meghan Markle 's attire during her visit to the country.

First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu made headlines after Meghan's visit when a video surfaced of her discussing the challenges faced by Nigeria's youth at an event celebrating the first year of her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s, presidency.

"We are not having the Met Gala . . . We don't accept nakedness in our culture," First Lady Tinubu said in part during her speech. "It is not beautiful at all . . . They are mimicking and trying to emulate film stars from America. They don’t know where they come from. Why did Meghan come here, looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with. We know who we are, and don’t lose who you are."

According to the First Lady's office, Tinubu’s reference to the Duchess of Sussex was about her journey to understand her identity and where she came from after Meghan learned she is of Nigerian heritage.

"She meant Meghan appreciates the people we are and hence her coming here," the First Lady’s office said in a statement to AFP Fact Check in a story published on May 30. "At no point did she say anything about Meghan’s dressing."

The clarification follows inaccurate reports from various media outlets, suggesting that the speech directly criticized the Duchess of Sussex's tour wardrobe.

Tinubu’s office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Meghan and Prince Harry visited Nigeria at the invitation of the Chief of Defense Staff, the country’s highest-ranking military official, from May 10 to May 12. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not publicly meet with the President of Nigeria or his wife during their trip.

The First Lady of Nigeria delivered her speech on May 25 at an event titled "Celebrating the Woman" in Abuja, Arise News reported. In remarks shared to YouTube , Tinubu stressed the importance of setting a positive example for the next generation and alluded that Meghan visited Nigeria to reconnect with her roots. The Duchess of Sussex said in 2022 that she learned she was 43% Nigerian through a genealogy test and spoke about feeling a connection to the country throughout her trip with Harry.

"The message here is, we have to salvage our children. You know we see the way they dress, they keep forgetting that Nigeria, we are beautiful. The moment you can see what they showcase on the stage, I said, we are fashionable! We see what is going on," Tinubu said in part at the event.

"We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness is just everywhere, and the men are well-clothed. So we have to do something. Tell them the way it is — we don't accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful," she continued, as the audience applauded.

"It is not beautiful at all. And they are all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are. They are mimicking and trying to emulate film stars from America. They don’t know where they come from," the First Lady said. "Why did Meghan come here, looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with. We know who we are, and don’t lose who you are."

The couple traveled abroad to champion their Archewell Foundation's mental health initiatives for young people and to promote Harry's Invictus Games, which Nigeria joined for the first time in 2023.

PEOPLE's chief foreign correspondent Simon Perry covered the trip to West Africa, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about how they made every moment count.

Speaking with PEOPLE on the tour, Prince Harry said, "These trips are about us being able to go out and go and focus on the things that mean so much to us. And being able to be on the ground, to us, is what it’s all about."

"It's really meaningful. Just being able to connect to people... that's what makes it special," added Meghan.

Africa Social Impact Summit 2024: Lagos to host over 5000 participants

L agos State is set to host the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2024, a landmark event that will bring together over 5000 development and sustainability leaders from across the continent to accelerate progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The State Commissioner for Commerce, Trade, and Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, made this known at the weekend at a press conference held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, saying that Lagos would collaborate with the Sterling One Foundation, the United Nations Nigeria, and other notable organisations to achieve transformation and multifaceted solutions to address the challenges facing the continent.

The commissioner said the summit would, in particular, review transformative recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the decade of action for accelerating the implementation of the SDGs, and progress at the midpoint of the deadline for the 2030 agenda.

Besides, she stated that there would be a Social Enterprise Forum where business leaders whose businesses were focused on social impact in thematic sectors could pitch innovative solutions to potential investors and access funding to drive scale and accelerate impact.

Ambrose-Medebem noted that more than half of the world is left behind based on the United Nations (UN) Progress Report on Sustainable Development Goals, Special Edition 2023, while progress on more than 50 per cent of the targets of the SDGs is weak and insufficient, asserting that there was a need to reverse this narrative and mobilise people and organisations as critical partners towards achieving the needed transformation.

She, however, assured that “ASIS would serve as a global platform for effective collaboration and alignment by critical players in Africa’s social development sector, as the theme ‘Reimagining Progress’ implied.”

According to her, there will also be a tour of Lagos State’s notable investment destinations and tourist attractions to be hosted by the Lagos State government and an event round-off networking dinner at the Eko Atlantic City, saying that some of the expected outcomes at the end of the summit include building result-oriented and innovative global and regional partnerships to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs.

“There will also be a tour of Lagos State’s notable investment destinations and tourist attractions hosted by the Lagos State government and an event round-off networking dinner at the Eko Atlantic City.

“At the end of the Summit, some of the expected outcomes include building result-oriented and innovative global and regional partnerships to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs,” the commissioner stated.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sterling One Foundation, and Convener, ASIS, Olapeju Ibekwe, indicated that the summit had attracted interest from over 8,000 development and sustainability leaders from across 66 countries since its launch in 2022.

Ibekwe added that ASIS sought to host impact investors and investees with a focus on education and youth development, food security, climate solutions, healthcare, renewable energy, WASH, and the transition to a circular economy.

Los Angeles psyche-rockers Frankie and the Witch Fingers headline Savannah's Dog Days Fest

Los Angeles based psych-rock band Frankie and the Witch Fingers are capping off their European and North American tour with a headlining spot at Saturday’s Dog Days Fest in Starland Yard.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers are founding members Dylan Sizemore (vocals, guitar) and Josh Menashe (guitars, synthesizers, sax, flute, etc.) and the alien groove rhythm section of bassist Nicole “Nikki Pickle” Smith (formally of Death Valley Girls) and drummer Nick Aguilar (former touring drummer for punk legend Mike Watts). I spoke with the band via Zoom while they were stopped in Lyon, France at the tail end of their European conquest.

“We played a couple circus tent shows,” said Pickle of their successful tour so far. “That’s new for us and a highlight.”

Frankie and the Witch Fingers formed and developed in Bloomington, Indiana before relocating to Los Angeles.

“When we were there it was an awesome place to incubate and play shows and figure out what you like to do and enjoy music from the non-industry side of things,” said Sizemore of the Indian rock scene. “There are so many great bands that come out of Bloomington because there’s a music school there. There are all these great Bloomington bands we got to play with that are now doing a lot and are still from Indiana.

“We were excited to come to L.A. because in Bloomington, the kind of stuff we were playing and interested in wasn’t as prevalent, but in L.A. there was a huge world for that. There were a lot more like-minded artists.”

Since forming a decade ago, Frankie and the Witch Fingers have conjured eight full-length albums of scuzzy spaced-out psychedelic rock with nods to garage and punk. The band have seen several personnel changes over the years, but the addition of Pickle and Aguilar seem to not only have solidified the line-up, but evolved the sound of the band into something stranger and groovier.

“Honestly, it doesn’t feel new anymore,” said Sizemore of the current line-up. “We’ve been together for so long and we’ve already toured an album, but things changed for sure. The sound changed when Nick and Pickle joined. This is just the band for us.”

What Pickle and Aguilar have brought to FATWF, particularly on their latest album, "Data Doom"(2023 Greenway) is the propulsive Afrobeat rhythms of Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, and the herky-jerky danceability of '70s New York No-Wave and proto-punk. Think James Chance and the Contortions playing in The Afrika Shrine club in Lagos, Nigeria. Combined with Sizemore’s cerebral lyrics and Menashe’s acid rock riffs, listeners will be banging their heads while twisting their bodies into undiscovered dance moves.

“You’ll definitely hear more of that on the next one, too,” said Aguilar of the next record.

“It seems like everyone is digging it,” said Menashe of the band’s evolution. “You don’t hear really hear people say, ‘I used to really love you guys, but your new stuff, naw.’ At least no one says that to our face. I think our fans are along for the ride, which takes the pressure off of us to satisfy them at all times.”

“I feel like more people on this tour discovered us now, and now they’re going back and buying the earlier albums,” added Pickle.

"Data Doom" was recorded by the band in their own south L.A. studio and grew out of long jam sessions.

“First we just recorded hours and hours of us jamming which the single came from,” said Menashe. “When we made "Data Doom" we were originally going to record demos in that room and we liked the way they sounded, so that just became the album.”

Their approach can maybe be compared to that of 70s fusion era Miles Davis who recorded long jams and reassembled the best parts. This is most apparent on the aptly titled song “Mild Davis.”

“Mild Davis was that song where we wrote a little bit here one day, and a little bit here and mentally put it all together,” said Aguilar. “It’s cool because there’s not really a chorus. It’s like walking up a staircase.”

Lyrically,  " Data Doom "  explores the existential dread that can take hold in our current rapidly snowballing technological nightmare. Album opener “Empire,” for example asks the question of humanity destroying automation, “How did we get here from fire?”

“It’s about how it feels to be in the world we’re in,” explained Sizemore. “The technology is changing things and we’re thinking about that from all different angles. It’s also personal things we’ve all experienced while we were in the process of writing.”

Frankie and the Witch Fingers also recently released a scorching live album, "Live at LEVITATION," which is a great place to start if you want a taste of what to expect from their Dog Days Fest appearance. They are just one of many unmissable bands performing at this year’s music festival, so be sure to clear your weekend schedule and get your tickets at  dogdayspresents.com
